"Having completed both the main and side quests in Fallout 76, I have been just logging in for some dailies now and again.

Until recently, however.

I've found that the location of my CAMP (North of the Giant Teapot/Charleston on I-59) is a rather nice ambience location. Storms usually roll down, sure, but no Radstorms which is nice. And the view!

From here you can see the Ash Heap, you can hear the wind whisper through the mountains, not many Scorched or Super Muties head out this way, and it's just...

Bliss. And calm. And I've just been enjoying relaxing there with my various Allies, listening to the world roll on. It's been so nice.

And if any newcomers happen to pass by on their way to the Teapot or Charleston, please help yourself to the Nuka-Cola and give Sweets the Mr. Handy my regards. He's been a wonderful neighbour.

Also, watch out for any fool trying to restart Power Plant WV-06. They tend to get loud down that way."

Walked through the centre of a couple of nuke blasts the other day, looking for flux, and got some good shots (the first one is in the Ashe Heap, the other three in the Toxic Valley)

In that first one you can also see a small glowing mass, which turned out to be a Yao Guai sneaking up on me while I used Photomode (I was brutally attacked seconds later lol)

the problem with characters talking like they're in a therapy handbook isn't, of course, that they're talking about their feelings - it's good to have characters talk (and fight) about how they feel about each other. the problem is how generic and boring it is to have them use the current Right Terminology - isn't it more fun to have characters have all these feelings but not know what to call them? for them to look for the words to express them, and not find them, at least not neatly?

and besides, all these terms are, to use a food term, concentrates. But I don't want the concentrate when characters have a fight about their emotions - I want the full-bodied juice.

Consider:

"I brought you a bee cake. You've always loved bees."

"You're gaslighting me."

vs.

"I brought you a bee cake. You've always loved bees."

"I've never loved bees! You decided I liked bees. It's the same thing as always. You won't let me choose what I like, you just tell me and expect me to believe it."

The shorter response can do a lot, in specific circumstances, but by taking the shorthand away, so much more space for character is created.

Bucky let out a harsh sigh towards the well composed man standing beside him. The neon lights of Madripoor shine against the water behind them. It had been a rough night.

"That back there? You know that's not me anymore."

He kicked a rock into the edge of the water, frustration swirling around his mind.

"You needed me to act, so I did. Doesn't change anything."

Memories of the bar bounced around in his head as they were standing there and he's not sure if he's trying to convince the man beside him or himself. It has definitely been a rough night.

Vigilante!Deku fics be like

they're good like that. It's called ✨character development ✨.

Anyways, talking about vigilante!Deku fics, you guys should go read 'heap of ashes that i am' on AO3 by bunjeegumboy. It's completed with 44 chapters and 226 595 words.

It starts off with Midoriya getting bullied by good ol' Bakugo for being quirkless. Soon after, he attempts suicide by jumping off a building into the river(?) and hits a rock when he drops, that ends up killing him. However, he wakes up a few hours later in some cave (if I remember correctly) and is left confused... the story starts unfolding.

Also, Bakugo witnessed Midoriya's suicide, and that kind of fucked him up, so he goes to therapy 👍. He's trying to get better, and tries to handle his anger better. Spoiler!: he meets Izuku again and it goes very... interestingly.

It's all awesome tho, such a great read. Love the characters and all. And how can it be a Vigilante!Deku fic if he doesn't get adopted by the EraserMic couple?

Also, Shinsou is his best friend :)
