TFRarePairingFest2023 Day 13: Ghost Town
Also on Ao3.
Pairing: Astrotrain/Optimus Prime
Continuity: G1
@tfrarepairing
Optimus trembled as he transformed back into root mode, before stopping in place and looking down the railtrack as the familiar call of Astrotrain’s train whistle filled the air, followed by the screeching of wheels grinding against tracks to halt. The prime turned slightly and his frame shuttered.
Astrotrain managed to stop himself before he entered the station, transforming outside of it and staring at the trembling prime. He knelt down to be more level with the other.
“Optimus?” the triple changer started. The prime continued to tremble and he walked over to fit himself into Astrotrain’s arm. Astrotrain’s field was drenched in confusion.
“Too loud,” Optimus whispered.
Astrotrain displayed his confusion for a few seconds longer before it suddenly clicked what the prime was talking about. He gathered the prime in his arms and sat down. Optimus tucked himself further into the triple changer’s arms, but everything was still too much.
“Is this better?” Astrotrain quietly asked. He easily shook his helm and tried to curl up closer into the grey and purple shuttle-train’s frame.
Even from outside, the clicking of the terminals was still too loud, it was like too many Cybertronians were still around. He just wanted to rest, why was that too much to ask?
“Do you need to go back? Or somewhere else?” Astrotrain asked as he lifted a servo to the prime’s helm.
Optimus was quiet for a moment, trying to focus on the triple changer’s spark. The noise of the terminals was still too overwhelming, and he couldn’t go back to the ARK, not while that celebration was still going on. (One that… admittedly, he didn’t know the reason for. And he didn’t have any closeness to anybot in his troops to learn why.)
“Else,” Optimus finally got out, quietly.
“Ok,” Astrotrain nodded. “Can I transform first?”
Reluctantly, the prime backed away and allowed the triple changer room to transform. His finials flicked slightly when he transformed into his shuttle-alt, the back of it open to allow him in. The red and blue truck walked inside and sat down against the wall as the door closed.
It was strangely quiet before the shuttle rattled before clearly taking off. Optimus leaned against the wall, letting his helm rest on it as Astrotrain’s frame rumbled against the sky. The prime barely noticed when the triple changer began to descend back to the ground, only properly noticing with the justle of landing.
Astrotrain’s door opened and Optimus walked out of the shuttle. The prime blankly stared at the location Astrotrain brought him to as the shuttle-train returned to his root mode.
The area appeared to be an abandoned town within a forest of sorts, its roads so unused that weeds and grass stuck up from behind the padded dirt and gravel paths. The houses, built in a mix of wood planks and stone cobbled together, were slowly falling apart from rot and the lack of maintenance. Some of the buildings were even collapsed, the pieces that were held inside now scattered about and have long since been drenched with water, ice, and moss.
His finials flicked as the small chirps of birds and crickets radiated through the air. Astrotrain sat down onto the ground and Optimus gravitated over to where the grey and purple shuttle-train sat down.
The triple changer allowed the prime to take up his lap like a dog hogging its owner’s lap. “Better?” the triple changer asked.
“Better,” Optimus whispered back.
All he heard from the larger frame was the running of vents like wind, the small clicking of joints, and the fluctuation of his field.
Optimus relaxed against Astrotrain, the noise not as loud as it was back on the ARK or at the station. He placed his helm over Astrotrain’s spark and the calm noises finally allowed his overworked systems to rest and begin a defrag cycle.
As Optimus began to rest, Astrotrain looked up towards the sky and stared. The sun still showed a small bit of its light from the horizon, but the sky was quickly becoming that of the night and the first hints of distant stars could be seen.
“It really is too much for you, huh?” Astrotrain mused. He lifted a servo from where it rested on the ground to grab one of Optimus’s servos. He felt the prime’s system preparing for a defrag through the rumbling of his frame. “Don’t worry. I’ll be here.”

So… funny story…
I was watching TFA season 2 and I saw the pattern of “all spark fragment goes in thing; thing becomes new bot” and I thought
“Gee imagine if it went in a train, we could officially get Astrotrain. But wait, he wouldn’t be a triple changer…. Unless….”
And so Blitzwing now has a son. Enjoy!

BIOLIGHTS AND BLASCHKO
One of my transformers headcanons I haven't talked about outside of smut is Cybertronian biolight, biolumoneses, it works a few way, alot of bots are forged with little lines of lighting that glow under the cracks in their armor, it was actually something they used to use when bonding with another slowly changing the glow to be the blend of each other's colours. But in the war, a lot of the bots shut down the protocol for these lights, mainly for safety, mission, and stealth. But when they land on earth and see cars with bright LEDs on the under carriage, some will, on occasion, turn those systems back on.
Another thing I don't bring up enough is the difference types of vision the bots have, I love the idea that one day the switch over to Ultra violet in hopes of tracking their human in a game but then they stop. It is like seeing their human in a different light (literally) they don't bring it up but of a night when they lay naked curled against the bots bulk their digits traces the ‘invisible’ tripes and lines that are only visible under UV. They started using that vision more to just drink in the beauty of the lines.
Some will even get the marks painted to them and my favourite part is so many of the human's are unaware they even Have stripes and when the bots finally bring it up, confusion happens, a lot of Google searches.
“I HAVE STRIPES AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME??” They ask their lover in a panic which makes the bot chuckle as they are lifted closer. Soft kisses pressed to their back. “Yes sweetspark you have stripes” they would mumble against the human's back before deciding it was a perfect opportunity. “I also have glowing lights that line the ridges of my armour.” They would state before loading up the system. Their lovers' eyes go wide as the very soft pulsing glow surfaces. “Woah…. Pretty” they would mutter in true awe. Both are just basking in each other's markings. But then the bot changes to black light, and its the first time the human gets to witness the markings of their skin. The Cybertronian gently traced them as they lay under the stars. The way their digits move across the markings jolts the human's memory. “You have been tracing them all this time?” They ask just barely above a whisper.

TFRarePairingFest2023 Day 1: The Matrix
Will also be on my Ao3 at some point after this post goes up, check my pinned post for a link to my Ao3.
Continuity: G1
Pairing: Astrotrain/Optimus Prime
(Also I write Astrotrain as if he uses his WFC: Siege toy appearance/design since that's still technically G1. K? K.)
@tfrarepairing
Astrotrain came to a stop, his earthen alt mode screeching as it did so. He promptly transformed and stepped out of the rail into the formerly abandoned station, his wings automatically fluttering. He paused the moment he saw the red and blue prime sitting at the only table not covered in dust with his helm on the table and arms hiding it away.
The tripler changer walked over and, instead of sitting down on the other side of the table, sat down next to him. Astrotrain put a servo on Optimus’s shoulder, causing him to look up at the other.
“Any reason you look down?” Astrotrain started, resting his other servo on the table.
The prime grumbled slightly, moving his helm to hide his face again. “Matrix,” he barely heard from Optimus.
Astrotrain tilted his helm slightly. That… wasn’t what he expected. “That relic?” the triple changer realized. Optimus made a small noise in confirmation. He blinked. “How can an endless storage of knowledge cause this?”
Optimus shifted slightly, lifting up his helm above his arms to deadpan at Astrotrain. He felt awkward under that blank look. The prime placed his helm on his arms this time, looking towards the blank, tannish grey wall of the station.
“Why do mecha always make that mistake…” Optimus muttered, seemingly unbothered Astrotrain could overhear him.
“So it’s more than that,” Astrotrain guessed. Optimus nodded.
“An eternal mix of every wielder, its creator, and the siblings of the creator, all wrapped up with the dreams of Primus,” Optimus described. “And Primus does not dream of this. And it is upset at our current state of war, that we strayed so far from Primus’s dream.”
Astrotrain moved his servo across the prime’s back to the other shoulder, then carefully pulled him into an one-armed hug. Optimus didn’t move for a moment before leaning into it.
“If it can’t be happy about everything, at least there’s one it can be about,” Astrotrain stated.
Optimus released a sad-sounding chuckle. “I… I guess so.”

Do you think cybertronians every freak out with more "fragile " humans. I have EDS and it seems to effect my knees the most right now so I tend to fall due to them popping and giving out on me. I'm used to it by now and have gotten knee braces. Do you think any of the bots or cons would freak out if they saw a human fall and have to lay down for a while. I think I'd find it really funny while laying on the ground in pain lmao. Love your work by the way you write lovely !
Gods, I felt the knees too much mine dislocated, and atm I have one that's been causing me hell
________
I do think they would freak out the first few times. But after a while, they would start just going. "You good?" But also on that, I believe they would also find ways to help improve your movement. Mind you, I have a rather messed up knee and need a brace that has a locking mechanism in it in case my knee gives out on me. So I can see a lot of the Cybertronians trying to help make you more comfortable with gadgets to help. For example, if you have trouble walking, they will make you a more advanced brace, one that still assist and holds much better than the flimsy wires in the ones you get from the hospital.
The first time the bots hear your bones crack, it sends them into a panic, thinking you're breaking, and they have them rushing you to the medbay into the doctors servos, saying your dying because your body is creaking and cracking.
These guys love modifying things because they know humans can't simply replace limps like they can. So when you have an issue with one of the wheels on your wheelchair. They are straight away working on fixing it up, adding wheels with a lot more resistance to strain. Don't ask where they got the equipment. The bots try their best to be as accommodating as possible. A place doesn't have a ramp. They will lift you up the stairs. Even make it easier for you to get into their alt mode. It's simple little things, and they may not be a lot to them, but it makes life so much easier for you.
The medics also take it upon themselves to learn human medicine and body structure because after they hear you complain about how expensive health care is, they want to try and give you the best care they can. Which involves them making medicines, equipment, and services for you. Also, expect with any injuries that the bots are going to make you do a lot of physio to try and help you strengthen your joins the best it can. Tho they know each human is different, they do try their best to accommodate for you better than a lot of other humans do. To them, you are never a burden its always a delight for them to do something as simple as help you when you're in pain or having difficulty.

Last night I had a dream where after the war the Decepticons and Autobots put their differences aside and opened a high school together. Optimus was the principal with Megatron as his vice principal. Soundwave was like the guidance counselor and Ravage was the nurse. Astrotrain was the bus driver/the bus.
I have no idea how this came about. Also I think Cheetor was trans in this dream. I have no idea how she fit into it but she was there.

Transformers: Lost World - All Leaders + Their Weaknesses
Classes:
Miner – Can dig in the ground for deep planted materials and break Energon
Farm Skill – Digs soil and can overturn used spots
Gatherer – Can hold excess supplies and materials and can retrieve items for you out in the field
Farm Skill – Taking ready crops and organizing them, feeding animals
Infiltrator – Can cut down trees, vines, and ice for materials or to unblock paths. Can climb cliffs and to higher areas.
Farm Skill - Tidying up the farm, animal stalls and the Transformer stables, keeping the area and its inhabitants mess-free and happy, and can also plant seeds.  The more Transformers and animals you have, the easier it is for your farm to become disheveled, and all your Companions will grow upset over time.
Scout – Can sense nearby hotspots of energy and alert to items in the wild
Farm Skill – Retrieves water for crops or animals in their station
Wrecker – Can demolish rocks and heavy-duty minerals, unblocking paths as well. Can climb cliffs and to higher areas.
Farm Skill – Crafting or breaking down materials for crafting is their best use though they can also dig soil and patrol the farm’s boundaries for extra tidiness
Healer – Can heal any Transformer you take with you as well as yourself to a degree
Farm Skill – Tendering to planted crops or animals, keeps them healthy when you are away
Combatant – The best for fighting other Transformers to subdue and tame them as well as great warriors for challenges and battles. Can climb cliffs and to higher areas.
Farm Skill – Transformers can get bored, but their favorite pastime is friendly battle. Keeping a Combatant to maintain hobby stations will keep your friends happy.
Leader – Jack of all trades, can do almost everything on and off the farm. Certain leaders lack one skill compared to other leaders though so be mindful where you place them.
Farm Skill – Practically everything.
All Leader Class Transformers have to be fought to tame. And once acquired, they can perform any job the others can...except one. Depending on the Leader, their skills vary.
35. Grimlock - While he excels in combat and most chores, Grimlock is a very weak Healer type. He doesn't do well in trimming crops to maintain health and providing direct care for creatures.
36. Predaking - He cannot be a Scout. Finding items aren't exactly what he cares to do but using water on crops and to replenish animal's water buckets is very hard with half his abilities relying on fire.
50. Ramhorn - Ramhorn has immense difficulties with being an Infiltrator. He has neither the patience or the specialty to deal with vines and trees as well as cleaning up messes. He would rather make messes than clean them.
51. Ravage - Stubborn-headed, yes, but his size does limit him to what he can do. Ravage cannot be a Wrecker class as giant obstacles are a bit too strong for him. He also is better at rearranging crafted items than actually dealing with them.
85. Optimus Prime - Excels in everything except being a Miner. He doesn't have the strongest knowledge of unearthing materials nor digging plots for crops.
86. Megatron - Megatron may be the head honcho of the Decepticons but he isn't going to do everything. Megatron has quite the difficulties with being an Infiltrator. He doesn't deal with mediocre blocked paths nor dealing with a messy camp. He'll leave those chores for other bots.
94. Elita One - Elita has no patience for being a Healer. She sent bots to the infirmary during the war; that's the only relationship she has in terms of medical and natural care.
100. Ultra Magnus - High and mighty Ultra has a lack of association with being a Scout as he isn't the best at tracking things nor retrieving water.
101. Motormaster - He boasts a lot but sucks at being a direct Combatant unless he's cornered. And he doesn't care for seeing to keeping his peers happy in friendly battle.
115. Sky Garry - Good Garry is a star example of a bot except as a Miner. He prefers the sky, hence his name, rather than sticking to the ground and certainly digging in it.
116. Slipstream - Her intelligence rivals many and she finds that while in no sense weak, she doesn't deal with obstacles a Wrecker would. She's also not a great craftsman, preferring to draw up the schematics than physically do them.
134. Tidal Wave - A great behemoth of a Transformer, he is a terrible Scout. A little too big to recognize materials and hidden things from his height, he'll leave the watering and seeking tasks to bots better suited for it.
135. Omega Supreme - The sentinel of Iacon, Omega is a kind soul deep down and surprisingly doesn't like to be a Combatant. He would rather farm than harm. He can also do his chores faster, covering the maximum amount of ground work than most others.
136. Astrotrain - The dark train is an irate fellow who despises being a lackey often times so getting him to be an Infiltrator is most difficult. If he can't crush it underfoot, he doesn't care about doing it.
141. Tarn - He doesn't much care for keeping animals much so it's best not to entrust him with feeding them as a Gatherer. He also doesn't care about collecting supplies out in the wild. If you want your stuff, it's more or less up to you to get them.
166. Nemesis Prime - Nemesis (no, not the ship) is spiteful and won't respond to being a Healer. If they aren't dying, there's no need to fix them. Enough said.
173. Dai Atlas - While he is a good Councilmember, Dai Atlas doesn't do well as a Wrecker. He prefers to fix things than break them. He had no problems with animals though.
175. Sentinel Prime - The cocky Prime has one weakness and that is being a Miner. Grunt work more like to him. He will take out large obstacles, but he won't touch honest ground work.
176. Star Saber - He excels in being a strong Autobot but he is not great at being a Gatherer. It's not that he's forgetful or ignorant, he just isn't used to having to gather supplies and feed animals. Maybe he will want to learn someday.
186. Galvatron - The follower of Unicron holds not a lot of regard for life, especially organic life. So, his weakest point is the chores of a Healer. One day, he may come off his high horse and tend to the animals and crops properly but until then, don't leave them unattended in his care please.
187. Prima - A sweet soul throughout, Prima is a natural caring bot but he is not good at being a Scout. He has a million and one things on his mind, tracking items and keeping water for your animals and crops aren't exactly high on his priorities list.
188. Vector Prime - Vector is a lover, not a fighter. He will not indulge himself or others in battle as a Combatant unless in an emergency. Ironically, he has quite the power behind his attacks. he just doesn't utilize them.
189. Micronus Prime - If it can't be levitated, he doesn't deal with it. Micronus will care for all life but has no regard for heavy-duty tasks or things that require patience like crafting. So, you won't find him as a Wrecker anytime soon.
190. Solus Prime - Solus is the best craftsman in the galaxy. Maybe that's a little dramatic but she is the creator of many artifacts and relics you may find. But she is not the best Infiltrator. She makes messes but she has trouble keeping her own station clear much less your camp, and slicing through little annoyances is not what her talent calls for.
191. Liege Maximo - Liege has many things, including a Glitch-Mouse up his aft, but he doesn't deal with being a Miner. He has far too many other chores he would prefer than digging around for useless things.
192. Megatronus Prime - The angry Prime is not good at being a Healer though he may try. Despite his dark nature, he doesn't always act as he looks, but he understands that taking general care of animals and crops are just not in the cards for him.
193. Quintus Prime - Quintus is a terrible Combatant. He can create and destroy but physical fighting he lacks solely because he's not used to it. Fighting Unicron was one thing, other Transformers the same size and possibly with the same level of powers is quite different.
194. Amalgamous Prime - With a horrible sense of perception among all his quirks, Amalgamous doesn't like being a Scout. Getting him to find your car keys would somehow leave your house burning down. He's just not good at it.
195. Alchemist Prime - As a natural soothsayer of the barkeeping world, Alchemist adores animals but his greatest weakness is actually being a Gatherer. he can talk for days but can be easily distracted and forget that while everything needs a drink, they also need to eat.
196. Nexus Prime - Nexus doesn't like to be responsible for others' idiotic decisions so naturally, he makes a terrible Healer. He will fight but he won't aid you as you die. That's a you problem.
197. Onyx Prime - The Beastmaster of the Predacon race understands and loves creatures great and small, but he is not the best Wrecker. He would rather let those more capable with brute strength made for it go ahead and do what they need to. He'll keep with the animals and crops.
198. Alpha Trion - Alpha Trion is a master librarian but he is not the strongest Combatant in the field. He would rather read and take care of life than fight it. While not a pacifist per say, he's definitely not someone you would take into battle a lot.
199. Unicron - The dark god holds a deep hatred for many things, but he lacks most as a Healer. His blood with siphon life in direct exposure, so how would he even begin to help them even if he wanted to?
200. Primus - A sacred soul and the leader of Cybertron overall, Primus is the bearer of life itself. While not heavily responsible for organic existence, they are a valiant and benevolent kindred breed. But if Primus were to be not as good as others in one specific field, they are a bit perplexed by the skill of being a Miner. Digging is not something they have had a lot of practice with given their normal size.
