oddly specific headcanons time. miles edgeworth has been medically diagnosed with autism.
at around age 7-8 gregory edgeworth nervous working single dad was worrying about his son and raising his son and why his son didnt have friends and acted like a little adult and was so interested in law textbooks so he went to a doctor who said “your son very clearly has autism” and they were right
the only person currently alive that know hes autistic is franziska because he told her and she scoffed and said “miles edgeworth if you are going to use a silly diagnosis as a foolishly foolish excuse to be less than perfection I will show you no mercy”
phoenix vaguely knows because of the accommodations edgeworth received in school but he never quite thought about it very hard or connected the dots so edgeworth has to explicitly tell him
Phoenix’s back is to him, now, so Edgeworth can stare past the point of decorum. It’s strange. The animated courtroom persona is gone, replaced by a man in slow motion. He seems somehow excessively careful. With a jolt, Edgeworth is reminded of the young boy who used to line up his pencils on his desk in order of length.
Wright is placing a food-laden plate in the microwave (the microwave, really, Wright?) when Edgeworth says, “When you ate animal crackers, you always bit the heads off first.”
me when the emotionally repressed character is revealed to have had something happen in their childhood that was completely out of their control but changed them in a way they can never come back from
I can just imagine that little Franziska used to love those horse movies
Like “no one can tame this horse…. this wild mare,.:…. we’ll have to send her to a farm upstate…..,,.”
Franziska: :’0
“NO!! I will take care of her!!!!! She’s special to me!!!!”
Franziska: :0!!!!
Sitting on her knees in the living room, eyes GLUED to the screen, holding her toy horses in her hands by their back legs and just STARING
Pleading with Miles to get the tape for her and rewind it back to the beginning and just bouncing next to him as he sighs and gets it all ready for her (this is one of the rare occasions where she can be FULLY excited for something and not worry about sitting still and immerse herself in it)
Sometimes she makes Miles play the villainous dad who won’t let his daughter keep the wild horse (and we won’t talk about symbolism hahahaha… ha… sigh)
I can now recreate most of chapter 8!!! / bonus features below the cut / follow for more cool stuff
Jin Ling's sprites:
His share code is MVDLXY :)
Congrats, Jin Ling! You have 3 different poses, showing three different levels of irritation, making you the most complex character so far.
His sprites were traced off of Cody Hackins from 1-2. His little puffed-cheek sprite screamed Jin Ling.
(NASA announcer voice) Aaaand we have soundtrack. I thought Luke Atmey's and Furio Tigre's themes both suited Jin Ling pretty well. Other contenders before I decided on Moderato 2004 were Allegro 2002 and Investigation - Middle 2002.
Will take a break from these for Art Fight probably but they have been sooo fun to make. Plus I get to show off my objection.lol skills outside of stupid discord arguments.
Jiang Cheng's sprites & Nie Huaisang's sprites / masterpost
"Being pushed by my friend for this but also they're 100% correct. This man is stiff, formal yet impolite, terrible at understanding the feelings of those around him, but has an inexorable sense of justice and and excellent eye for detail. He's a loser nerd who deals with his emotions for his rival by setting up a nonsense chessboard about it. His autism swag and eccentric pretty boy design was so popular he actively changed the direction of the series, and now makes an appearance in more games than any other character, including the original protagonist. Also he gets to play mind chess in one of his spin off games."
Mihashi -
"Mihashi has trouble with eye contact, struggles with social situations, seems to have a hatred or avoidance for change, has a hyperfixation/special interest in baseball and specifically pitching to the point that his friends and coach have to put limits on his pitching lest he do it too much and hurt himself, he abides by strict politeness scripts with regards to names and honorifics even when told he doesn't need to, he seems to get overstimulated easily, he needs to be reminded regularly what the "right" or "normal" thing to say in a situation would be, and he has poor volume control (talks very quietly). He is extremely hard to understand and is seen as needing "translators" in a lot of instances. He also has big beautiful autism creature eyes. Look at one image of him going :◇ and tell me he isn't the best."
Call me phoenix wright the way I actually cannot stop staring st miles edgeworth andnthinking 'wowowowo hes so cool and strong and it's so cool how he's resilient to higher ups despite the entire law system being corrupt and littered with darkness, especially since the guilt of his past actions haunting him!!'
