Which legend units (as in bahamut) are actually good
before anyone asks, legend cats are classified as special cats which are able to be boosted to level 40 after first completion of An Ancient Curse and level 50 after first completion of Revival of Origin. units will be in order based on the order they are in in the cat guide. all units will be reviewed based on their true form (uril true form will not be included, as it is currently only available in the japanese version of the game, and i play the global version). if i forget any please remind me there are quite a few
STORY MODE LEGENDS:
VALKYRIE CAT: first legend cat. probably the worst. there is no point in using valkyrie unless you're doing no gacha and need as much area dps as you can physically get and also you don't have ururun. i know people who use it on eoc 3 moon, and it might work there, but i didn't lmao worst legend cat 100%
tl;dr: valkyrie bad
BAHAMUT CAT: really damn good. bahamut's first/second forms have the same stats, and for a unit you get after beating eoc 3, they're very solid stats. a 450 range high damage nuker carries you through getting a lot of crazeds, works through a lot of early SoL, and can actually help with some 4 star. however, it does kinda fall off as you get better generalist rangers, and this is why awakened bahamut (shortened to abaha) was created. abaha is a busted rusher, holding the highest base dps of any unit (previously second to balrog before abaha was buffed in 6.0) and 93.5k damage per hit at LEVEL 30. obviously, being a rusher, its health is kinda low, and it will generally die quickly. however, just getting one or two shots off on a major boss can shave off 100k-200k health (when boosted to level 40), and if the boss has a blindspot or gets knockbacked by this, abaha can typically attack again. this is especially apparent in several advents, such as clionel, which needs rushers such as abaha to get into its blindspot and kill it, and doremi, which is the easiest advent in the game due to the abaha cheese (abaha has just enough damage to knockback doremi on each attack, doremi has just enough speed and attack startup to get hit by abaha every single time). while abaha may see less use in late/endgame due to access to specialized rushers such as yukimura and idi (which we'll be going over later), it's still arguably the best legend just due to the sheer amount of use it sees throughout the entire game. the battle cats would not be the same without bahamut.
tl;dr: busted
CAT GOD THE GREAT: really weird niche unit. 350 standing range, omni hits from -850 to 850, three hit multihit with guaranteed knockback on non-metal enemies on first two hits and decent (51k at level 30) damage on the third hit, attacks less often than it really should. its standing range is kinda bad, but its omni extends 500 ahead of its standing range, which somewhat makes up for it. however, the main appeal of cat god is how omni works. cat god will stand 850 away from the enemy base. this means that it can cheese stages with a high health big boss, such as lil mohawk or lil eraser, and stages where you need to KB threats behind the base so you can destroy it, such as floor 32 of both heavenly tower and infernal tower. true form is absolutely irrelevant but it's pretty goddamn funny. not a great unit, but definitely has its uses.
tl;dr: has rare niche usages, not great
FILIBUSTER CAT X: the other contender for the worst legend in the game. filibuster is unlocked by beating cotc 3 and then beating the one time clear filibuster stage (which has the best song in the game btw). before true form, it has 575 range, low damage, freeze vs traitless for 4 seconds, low health and one knockback, and omni (but it only pierces backwards so it's irrelevant). in true form, it gains immunity to surge and curse, target relic, and its damage doubles. this doesn't seem that bad, right?
twelve (12) seconds of foreswing. this is more foreswing than twelve balrogs put together.
filibuster holds almost no use. you could hypothetically, at best, use it on a stage where you can stall and stack filibusters on the peons, but those stages are so incredibly few and far between that they might as well not exist and you could just use any better generalist or CC unit. shockingly useless.
tl;dr: filibuster bad
JAGANDO JR.: actually a surprisingly good anti-traitless. jagando is a 360 range strong vs traitless three hit multihit with surge and guaranteed knockback on the third hit curse and surge immune unit. this seems more complicated than it is. jagando has solid anti-traitless dps, guaranteed knockback + level 1 surge so it's guaranteed to knockback twice if the first knockback connects, curse immune for use in UL and against uril (the floor 50 of heavenly tower boss, not the legend unit which we will be covering later), and surge immune for use against kappy jr and any possible surge base/raynard/other surge enemy support in a traitless stage. very straightforwardly good unit. works well in 4 star.
tl;dr: solid anti-traitless damage + KB
STORIES OF LEGEND LEGENDS:
URURUN WOLF: the classic generalist. ururun is the baseline for what a backliner's stats should be equal to or above. even before true form, there are quite a few units (nurse cat, bahamut, thundia/windy outside of niche, etc) it outclasses in terms of generalist stats. in true form, its 450 range and 6.4k dps (at level 30) make it a very viable backliner, especially in early UL and 4 star, but it does somewhat fall off in later game when you get stronger generalists. its 20% chance for knockback can hinder some slower foreswing units that you bring with her (bahamut), but it can also help on occasion when you need knockback units. really not much else to say about ururun, just a strong unit overall and helps with early game.
tl;dr: good generalist
LI'L NYANDAM: despite being one of the highest standing range units you can get in 4 star, its attacks are slow, its proc chance for slow is only 50%, and its only real use is if you NEED a way to outrange professor a in 4 star and you have no stepping stones for LD units. not very good.
tl;dr: not unusable, just not good
RED RIDING MINA: pretty solid no gacha LD sniper. stands at 435, hits from 300 to 700. can hit quite a few backliners if given a stepping stone. 50% chance to weaken relic and immune to curse is largely irrelevant, but it can help on occasion. mina is one of the best snipers in 4 star, can be stacked on stages with low peons, and is just generally strong. good legend.
tl;dr: decent sniper but there are better options outside of 4 star
MIYAMOKU MUSASHI: musashi is a generalist with zkill, 30% chance to freeze relics, and curse/wave immune. musashi used to be one of the very few options available for anti-wave, and was solid due to that. however, as the meta has evolved, wave has become one of the most powercrept abilities, with units such as octopus cat, gloomy neneko, talented dancer cat, and talented li'l mohawk making it much, much easier to deal with than it was back when musashi was first introduced. the only real use for musashi is as a counter to the occasional 4 star cadaver bear that you can't deal with with shigong, which is a half decent use, but it's just too uncommon to justify musashi's low stats. very mediocre unit.
tl;dr: killed by powercreep, can work vs 4 star cadaver bears
MECHA-BUN: bad relic tank. it's a fast attacking strong against relics curse immune "tanker" with too low health and not good enough damage to be good. not interesting enough for more than a few sentences.
no tl;dr for this one it was three sentences
IDI:N: the unit i did not consider when deciding on formatting but i'm too lazy to change it. idi is effectively an anti-relic version of awakened bahamut, with massive damage vs relic, curse immune, and surge immune. idi's niche is very useful against relics that she outranges like oldhorn, relics with low damage that she can use all her knockbacks against like lowkey, relics with a blindspot that she can get into like loris, relics with long tba that she can hit once or twice in between their attacks like luza, relics with lots of knockbacks that you want to hit hard like puffington...honestly just the majority of relics. the only two relics she can't really deal with by herself are m ost and relic bun bun because they attack fast and she gets outranged, but you can tbolt or freeze them using something else and she can get solid damage on them. incredibly strong anti-relic rusher.
tl;dr: anti-relic awakened bahamut, very good, very worth beating all of 4 star
UNCANNY LEGEND LEGENDS:
DOGUMARU: dogumaru's true form is what mecha-bun dreams of being. it has resist vs traitless and relic, behemoth slayer, colossus slayer, curse and warp immune. it has 156600 base health at level 50, increased to 626400 vs its target traits, 223714/261000 vs colossus/behemoth respectively, and 894856/1044000 vs a traitless or relic colossus/behemoth respectively. this makes it a strong tanker for luza stages, with its 64800 damage (103680/162000 vs colossus/behemoth) being strong enough to take out the peons, and revival of origin having no enemies that aren't one of its target traits. dogu still works outside of luza stages, being a strong tanker for both traits, and while its behemoth niche is largely more useful than its colossus niche, as traitless/relic behemoths such as wild doge, magamojoe, and cumulus gallus are decently hard to deal with, its colossus niche does help with the occasional jj jackrabbit, or, if you have no other options, baron gauntlets. even outside these sub-trait targets, its traitless and relic niches make it work vs both yulalas, its own enemy counterpart, and any other traitless/relic enemies without too high dps. pretty damn busted.
tl;dr: great traitless/relic tanker, colossus/behemoth slayer gives it a lot more use, strong legend
URS & FENRIR: urs is effectively just a better ururun. trading out the 20% chance of knockback for a 20% chance of weaken removes any chance of making other units miss their attacks, dps and health stay the same between the two; however, urs gains 10 more range, behemoth slayer (with 30% chance to dodge, making it one of two behemoth slayers with increased dodge chance and therefore increased survivability), colossus slayer, and costs slightly less. the only thing ururun has over urs is a 3.33 second lower cooldown, but this is entirely irrelevant, as it's a difference of 161.2 and 164.53 seconds. urs becomes a strong anti-behemoth and anti-colossus; despite generalists becoming less relevant at the point in the game that you get urs, a 460 range unit with 10295 dps vs colossus is very helpful on baron gauntlets, and you can use it against behemoths to decent effect, despite the sheer amount of anti-behemoths available. just a better ururun.
tl;dr: ururun but better. decent anti-behemoth and anti-colossus. worst UL legend but not bad by any means.
ELDER MASK DORON: doron is one of very few suicide/kamikaze/self-destruct units in the game, sharing this ability with only glass cat, stone cat, and wafer cat. as is consistent across all suicide units, doron's health is extremely high, having the second highest base health of all cat units (599995 at level 50), and it has immunity to almost all negative effects (no toxic immunity). this is to make sure it can land its hit consistently. doron has a 100% chance to knockback and freeze relic enemies for 6.67 seconds and spawn a level 3 surge between 400 and 1000 range. it stands at 400 range, but its omni reaches from -1000 to 600, giving it 200 piercing range. it holds 29997 dph, and due to being a suicide unit, there's no real way to calcuate dps. it also has behemoth and colossus slayer. doron works against pretty much every relic, freezing them and keeping them away from the battlefield for those 6.67 seconds. while its surge may seem inconsistent, it will create a wall of freeze + knockback if it lands on its intended relic target, and if it doesn't, it can do solid damage versus non-relic. its anti-behemoth niche isn't great due to behemoths almost always being surge immune, but it works against great ape luza and the initial hit will still affect behemoths. the colossus niche is better; despite zero luza being immune to freeze, it can still be knockbacked, and the surge can stall it for several more seconds. doron is also surprisingly usable as generalist dps, with the surge's spawn radius making it capable of piercing to backliners or creating a wall of death at the frontline surprisingly well, although it's much less reliable than its cc role. its 1800 cost and 52.53 second cooldown give it very good mobility. strong anti-relic.
tl;dr: incredible relic cc, cheap for what it does, good damage for a reliable cc unit
ELDER BEAST NAALA: the best UL legend. naala's main gimmick is its weird multihit LD, with standing range of 300, first hit going from 1-301, second from 300-500, and third from 500-700. its dps is thus decreased to 1/3rd of its potential, still a respectable 7957.89 generalist dps at level 50, with 45360 generalist damage per hit. it holds 135000 generalist health. however, naala's main draw is its niche, being strong vs relic, guaranteed weaken to 50%, and behemoth/colossus slayer. it also has curse, wave, and surge immunity. against relic behemoths such as magamojoe and great ape luza, it has 29842 dps, with 170100 damage per hit. against zero luza, the only relic colossus, it has 19099 dps and 108864 dph. its two knockbacks and high effective health (450000 vs behemoth, 385714 vs colossus) give it good durability and make it capable of staying on the field for long periods of time to keep dishing out damage. 113400 damage per hit vs non-relic behemoth makes it a viable generalist anti-behemoth, and given the prevalence of melee behemoths, it can snipe backliners by using wild doges or behemoth pigges as stepping stones. incredibly strong unit.
tl;dr: busted anti-relic, anti-behemoth, anti-colossus. one of if not the best legend. incredible unit.
APE LORD LUZA: anti-relic nuker. luza has a somewhat weird LD multihit, with 400 standing range, first hit hitting from 1-401, and second hit hitting from 250 to 550. this gives it some piercing range and the ability to consistently hit both hits at its standing range. if both hits connect, it has 27971.22 dps (halved if only one hits) and 259200 dph (both hits added) vs relic. with behemoth slayer, this increases to 69928.05 dps and 648000 dph. resist gives it 334800 health vs relic and 558000 health vs relic behemoth. i hope i don't have to explain how insane this is. its immunity to weaken and warp aren't that relevant, but curse immune helps for obvious reasons and surge immune gives it a niche vs pesky surge enemies. luza doesn't have much outside of what it does at face value, but what it has is pretty damn good.
tl;dr: straightforward good relic nuker. worth the evolution.
HEAVENLY TOWER LEGENDS:
MASKED GRANDMASTER CAT: masked grandmaster is an anti-relic wave unit. while its 4080 damage per hit at level 30 may not look like much, it has three hit multihit and a level 5 wave. this gives it solid backliner dps, at 2891.34 dps (4337 dps vs relics) at level 30 up to 1132 range, enough to do consistent damage to any threatening backliners and clear peons decently well. while, again, this may not look like that good of a unit, let me direct your attention to its 2400 cost and **37.87 second cooldown**. this is less than 10 seconds higher than manic macho legs's cooldown. this allows masked grandmaster to be stacked on any barrier with 12.3k health or above or any high health low range permafreezeable or permaslowable enemy until you have a massive wall of death for any enemy that dares cross its path. while these situations are obviously rarer than would be preferable, it's a strong anti-relic and wave unit.
tl;dr: strong stackable waver with low cooldown.
SPIRITUAL YULALA: weird LD anti-relic rusher. 350 standing range, hits from 200 to 500. massive damage vs relics. while its 12.5k dps vs relics is solid, its low standing range and only two knockbacks hold its survivability back. 71.2 second cooldown and 4200 cost make it much less mobile than masked grandmaster, despite its much higher speed (20). could be much better than it is.
tl;dr: mediocre anti-relic rusher. usable against low range relics
MASTER URIL: pretty damn good anti-relic cc. 100% slow vs relic for two seconds, 100% chance for level 3 surge (spawns between 400 and 600), 375 range. surges hit 125 ahead and 250 behind their spawnpoint; thus, uril's surge is only guaranteed to hit the initial target if the target is between 350 and 525 away from it. while this looks good in theory, seeing as uril can guarantee slow at standing range, the permaslow ends as soon as something pushes just 25 range inward. still, this is only if the enemy you're trying to slow is at the front. if uril targets a peon with an m ost behind it, it'll slow the m ost, preventing more pushing. it also has a chance to slow backliners, with the farthest surge spawn hitting up to 725. three knockbacks and 68k health at level 30 is solid, although its damage is a little low, and is only usable for slight chip and/or peon clearing.
tl;dr: solid cc for melee relics and midrange relics with stepping stones. well worth the floor 50 grind. will be much, much better once true form comes out.
jesus christ i got this ask like. actually two days ago. this took too long but now i will never talk about legend units ever again
uril true form? busted anti-relic busted anti-aku but that mf ain't in BCEN yet and therefore no one cares

So, we figured out what Besithia and Nifs are doing in Spark verse, what Noctis and co are doing, Ardyn's part is in the planning stage...
I think that only leaves the Tenebrae part and the Glaives plus Titus part. Do you have anything about those that you are willing to share?
Well, Ardyn being alive and not the Accursed means Bahamut's Prophecy is one mischievous cat's paw away from getting knocked off the table. Of course, Bahamut doesn't know that yet, nor does he know that half his siblings (so far) are various degrees of actively working against said Prophecy.
Thing is, Shiva and Ramuh know that Ardyn will not stay hidden from Bahamut's attention forever. If they are to keep Ifrit's Chosen from a bloody death at the end of Bahamut's steel, they have to work fast.
Ifrit has already bestowed his Blessing. Shiva and Ramuh stand ready to bestow their Marks as soon as an Oracle awakens them.
Titan and Leviathan, however, will not be so easily convinced.
The Oracles are the only ones who can wake the sleeping Astrals. Shiva lays in Niflheim's deserts, Leviathan in Accordo's waters. Titan and Ramuh lie beyond the Oracles' reach, what with the restrictions placed on their movements ever since Tenebrae's subjugation by the Empire.
Of course, Luna was not the first member of her family to defy the Empire in pursuit of her duty. Sylva's canonical defiance was more discreet than her daughter's, but in Luna's defence desperate times call for desperate measures.
But with the Hexatheon divided, the Oracles will find themselves in the unique position of having to choose which destiny to pursue. Do they follow Bahamut's mandate and wait for the Chosen King? Or do they take the opportunity presented by Ifrit and his Spark, and forge the future anew?

top 10 battle cats facts to keep you up at night (scientists HATE #7!)
the end of ul is soon so there's no time like the present to make a theory that will get outdated almost immediately
the masked/doron tribe settles in the ancient forest labyrinth a couple thousand years ago. they wear masks infused with the power of ancient gods.
at some point, urs visits the ancient forest and meets doron. the tribe decides that they're worthy of a mask of their own and they become the guardian of the ancient forest. (they also found the warrior clan which uril, yulala, and ururun are descended from.)
emperor cat, the head of the cat empire, finds the ancient forest and sees the masked tribe. he becomes greedy for the power that is in the masks and wants to harness it at any cost. the masked tribe believes he will become corrupt if granted this power, so they deny him.
emperor cat begins trying to concentrate power in a pandimensional crystal. what is a pandimensional crystal? idk lol. the power of the crystal allows him to tame wild cats, and he eventually fosters and raises the cat empire to greatness. (emperor cat LR desc)
the cat empire becomes good friends/trade partners with the nearby doge empire, and they have a casual allyship.
emperor cat is still greedy for more power, and keeps returning to the ancient forest. the pandimensional crystal begins consuming parts of his soul (again, from emperor cat LR desc)
he becomes more and more of a tyrant (to the point where he tries to manipulate his daugher, princess cat, into making a deal with the aku to harness their power)
the doge empire decides they have to take action, so they wage war against the cat empire. they ally with the masked tribe and other relic enemies to fight the cats. the cat empire, struggling with both a corrupt ruler and powerful enemies, slowly but surely lose ground.
a small group of cats realize that there's no possibility of the cats winning, so they conspire to bring their last hope - princess cat - to a secret haven safe from the battle and begin a new cat kingdom. for a while, this new cat "kingdom" prospers, while far away the original cat empire is fighting a losing war and their emperor is killed.
during her research into the aku, princess cat is possessed, becoming the possessed empress. she opens the gates of aku, allowing them to invade the overworld.
the subjects of the new cat kingdom reunite with the original empire, now beset on all sides by the doge army, relics, and aku.
a group of researcher cats attempt to create the ultimate superweapon using bioengineering and create awakened bahamut cat. he promptly destroys the doge army and relics, but is fatally injured in the process of killing relic bun bun, the doge army's own attempt at bioengineering.
there's one last thing that the cats forgot about though, which is the aku and the lord of ruin jagando (also known as the demon king). by this point, both the cat and doge empire are destroyed, and there are few survivors left.
jagando kills the empress, but at the last moment, master uril, a member of urs' clan, fights off jagando and banishes him back to the aku realms. the site of their battle becomes the aku altar's seal (UL 39). he came to reside in the heavenly tower, waiting until the cats would find him again.
the remaining cats flee, dispersing around the world. some choose to be taken in by humans for protection, eventually becoming domesticated. although the species of cats recovers as a whole, the stories that the original members of the cat empire passed down to their children are eventually forgotten. the same happens with the doges.
in the modern day, cats and dogs are sentient, but completely unaware of their past or the history behind their rivalry.
on december 31st 2020 (according to the AC song), something(?) signals to the cats in japan. they begin amassing and preparing for war.
the rest is told through the EOC campaign. the cat army begins invading other countries, and other cats from different countries join them along the way.
at the end of their campaign, the cats find bahamut cat's carcass orbiting the moon, because somehow it was tossed out into orbit after he died. don't ask me i don't know
they manage to revive his soul, but only have the ability to give him a restrictive vessel, which is crazed bahamut.
we all know what happens next, they build a time machine and see that aliens have invaded the world, so they conquer the world in the future too. at the end of the ITF campaign, they find that the aliens have the technology to bring bahamut cat back to his original form. while trying to restore him, the technology malfunctions and bahamut cat is corrupted. (ITF ch 3 moon) the cats manage to get him under control and return him to his normal state.
around the ITF campaign, the cats also use the time machine to travel to 20 years in the past, aka stories of legend. they fight and recruit ururun, catdam, mina, and musashi
at the end, they discover the laboratory of relics, where a guild of researchers associated with the doge army have been trying to revive relic bun bun, which became mecha bun.
the cat army find another time machine in the laboratory, and travel back to thousands of years ago, to the era of the uncanny legends. this is shortly after the destruction of the original cat/doge empires, where relic enemies have overrun their territories.
here, they encounter remnants of the empires, such as dogumaru, urs, doron, etc. the cats begin to realize that they have a past, but they're not aware that there was an entire empire before them yet.
after encountering the aku altar's seal in UL, the cats accidentally broke it and opened the gates to the aku realm, where they fought jagando jr again. they were successful against the aku this time.
the ancient egg units are also from around this time. idi specifically was ancient egg n002, but the relic enemies took her for further testing and engineering and planned to turn her into a spy. eventually she went rogue and escaped through the time machine back to the era of SOL, where she was found in the laboratory of relics. (no one actually knows who she's allied with, even now.)
no one's REALLY noticed anything, but sometimes gamatoto finds green crystals while on expeditions, and uril has an unusual familiarity with the places in the UL era, and doron and idi don't like each other. but no one has connected the dots (yet).
sooooo what's next? no idea. maybe ponos will give us a clear answer to the lore, or maybe they were just fucking with us the entire time and they don't know what they're doing either? either way i'm looking forward to ul48 and let's just hope it's not behemoths.
inspirations: doron tribe pandimensional crystals emperor cat / the demon king

I finally done it. I went as far I can in the Labyrinth. Beat B64F and now all I can do it just stare at what I could've had to deal with in B65F.
Final team?
Nono CC, Loincloth Cat, Octopus Cat, Cyborg Cat, King Dragon Cat, Immortal Yukimura, Furilan Pasalan, Awakened Bahamut Cat, Doom Engine Pandora, and Dark Beastlord Garu.
There was only one unit that I did not get to use and it was fucking Subterra Gaurdians. That's comedy. Like I wasn't even trying to do that. Just like how I didn't realize that I hadn't use King Dragon until my last possible chance at using him.
Anywho, LONG LIVE RAMEN. Lasted like from 51-53? to 62. Not as long as Courier in the first labyrinth(13), but definately a long time to survive.

(Rachel was right about one thing: Patches was caught off guard, and meowed incredibly loudly as he was pulled from the walker and dragged around by the demoness herself! He meowed loud enough so that even Delinquent and Eva could hear it from inside the hangar, as they both quickly run to the entrance to see Patches being dragged by Rachel.)
Eva: Oh no, one of your friends is in her clutches! We have to help them!
Delinquent Cat: Heh heh heh… what an idiot…
Eva: What?! I thought that you all were on the same side, and you’re willing to turn your back on your—
Delinquent Cat: I wasn’t talking about Patches, Eva. The shadow lady. Look at her go, she thinks that she’s invincible by moving at those speeds…
Eva: What? What are you—
(Delinquent Cat begins to glow faintly, as his coat begins to flutter in the wind.)
Delinquent Cat: However… none can escape the power of my Stand…
(Delinquent points to where Rachel was.)
Delinquent Cat: …Star Titanium!
(Before Rachel could even react, a strange being suddenly appears in front of her… and started pummeling the EVER-LOVING SHIT OUT OF HER WITH A BARRAGE OF PUNCHES.)
Star Titanium: ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA—
(Every punch felt like getting hit by a cannonball at point blank range, and each punch was fired off as fast as a machine gun. She could feel her body begin to crumble and crack at such an onslaught, yet there was nothing she could do due to the knockback of each blow she received. This barrage went on for 20 whole seconds, but it felt like hours as fist after fist struck Rachel everywhere across her body. Face, gut, arm, boobs, nowhere was safe from this pummeling. After exactly 20 seconds, the Stand delivers an extra hard blow right to Rachel’s chest, sending her flying back towards the hangar, and causing her to fly right through not just a part the door of the hangar, but also dent her into one of the cargo containers used as cover against the assault. Delinquent Cat walks over to her mangled body embedded into the metal container before pulling out a small notebook and a pencil before writing something on the page, and ripping it off.)
Delinquent Cat: Here’s your receipt.
(Delinquent Cat lets go of the page, letting it flutter in front of Rachel. It had “Delinquent Cat” written on it, along with a small cat face too. He turns back to Eva who just looked at Delinquent Cat with her jaw dropped wide open.)
Delinquent Cat: So… you wanted to talk about our commander, Eva?
____________________________________ After just a few minutes they noticed Rachel’s lil hand fan glowed blood red. Suddenly a dark line appeared on the ceiling. It then ripped open. It was a portal. A red hand came down and gently picked up the wounded Rachel. It lifted her into the portal. It was one of the hands the Dark Enchantress summons! Someone start floating down out of the portal. ???: “HOW DARE YOU MORTALS HARM MY SECOND IN COMANDER! YOU ALL WILL PAY!” One of the giant hands smacked the Awakened Bahamut sending it across the room and throw a wall.

FEATURE: Gorging on Gourmet Fantasy with Princess Connect! Re: Dive
Anime is a veritable all-you-can-eat buffet of animation and entertainment, and it encompasses so many time periods, visual styles, and genres that it can be difficult to know where to begin. “Cruising the Crunchy-Catalog” is here to help. Our goal is to assist fans in managing their queues by highlighting shows audience members may have missed the first time around.
This week we're looking back at a more recent title coming up on its one year anniversary in April, so please join us as we explore the gourmet fantasy and slapstick comedy of Princess Connect! Re: Dive.
Tumblr media
    What's Princess Connect! Re:Dive?
Based on the smartphone RPG by Cygames, Princess Connect! Re: Dive is an April 2020 TV anime with direction by Takaomi Kanasaki and animation production by CygamesPictures. Crunchyroll describes the story of the series as follows:
In the beautiful land of Astraea where a gentle breeze blows, a young man named Yuuki awakens with no memory of his past. There he encounters a guide who has sworn to care for him—Kokkoro, a lovely swordswoman who's always feeling peckish—Pecorine, and a cat-eared sorceress with a prickly attitude—Karyl. Led by fate, these four come together to form the "Gourmet Guild." And so their adventure begins...
Known in Japan as “PriConne” for short, the “princess connection” alluded to in the title refers to the princesses within the fantasy environment who wield tremendous power and grant that power to their designated champions, known as “Princess Knights.” The “Re: Dive” refers to a concept that is only hinted at in the anime, so we won't spoil it here.

    Food.
Princess Connect! Re: Dive is a gourmet fantasy, and every episode involves Yuuki and his friends enjoying (or being tormented by) lovingly realized meals. The acquisition of cooking materials spurs the Gourmet Guild to embark on various quests, and more than once monsters end up on the menu, in a manner that is similar to the Delicious in Dungeon manga.
On a more sentimental note, food is also a metaphor for friendship. As the characters share meals, they also share more of themselves and their past experiences, and thus they grow closer. The series is primarily a comedy, but it has plenty of poignant moments, and when the drama ramps up, food is never far behind.
Tumblr media
    Fun.
Princess Connect! Re: Dive is also a comic fantasy, with a degree of wackiness that lands somewhere in between Slayers and KONOSUBA -God's blessing on this wonderful world!. Sight gags and slapstick comedy abound, and one running gag that remains funny every time is Yuuki almost getting eaten by monsters, as in the video clip above.
Comedy can be tough to convey, and comic fantasy can be even more so since it is bound by the conventions of an additional genre. Princess Connect! Re: Dive succeeds because it has impeccable comic timing, allowing each joke to build and breathe before escalating in a burst of frenetic energy.
Tumblr media
    Fantasy.
Cooking and comedy can be charming on their own, but fantasy as a genre leans just as heavily on setting and concept as it does on characterization and plot. Princess Connect! Re: Dive features a high fantasy world where magic, psychic powers, and supernatural creatures all co-exist.
The series also pulls out all of the stops for its action set-pieces, for example when Yuuki and company have to tackle rampaging monsters during their quests. The special effects animation is especially impressive for a TV production, and the production design and animation for both the characters and the world they inhabit are also smooth and consistent throughout.
As mentioned above, there are hints of a deeper mystery at play within the setting of Princess Connect! Re: Dive, but since the anime merely teases at these developments — and since production has been green-lit for another season of the show — we won't spoil them here.
Tumblr media
    Order Up!
Crunchyroll currently streams Princess Connect! Re: Dive in 206 territories worldwide. The series is available in the original Japanese language with subtitles in English, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Russian, and Arabic. Although there is currently no home video release for the series in the United States, a second season of the anime is in-development, and fans can also dig deeper into the story via the English language version of the Princess Connect! Re: Dive smartphone game.
Like other Cygames anime adaptations (such as Rage of Bahamut: Genesis and MYSTERIA Friends), Princess Connect! Re: Dive is a slick package that combines comedy and drama into a satisfying viewing experience even if the viewer is unfamiliar with the source material. If you have a yen for some comic fantasy, and if the series is available in your area, then please consider giving Princess Connect! Re: Dive a try.

I’m not much of a superhero person but I guess Thor and Tony Stark from Marvel’s cinematic universe
If you could hang out with one celebrity or fictional character for a day, who would it be?
I don’t really care about celebrities but, with care for my own personal safety, I think I would maybe choose Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, or maybe blueberry husband Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening (yeah I suck at choosing) Or even Thor or Tony Stark XD

UNIT REVIEW: CATMAN
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(catman, like most dark heroes, has similar stats across forms with different targets and is usable in all forms, so all forms are displayed)
catman. he who xskull unironically believed to be above vigler saki and klay. bahamut but with a trait target. guy hits hard what can i say
first two forms will be lumped together given that they have the same stats except for where they differentiate in trait targeting
catman, in all forms, has 440 range, 12 speed, roughly 2.5 minute cooldown, 5520 cost, five knockbacks, 2.3 seconds of foreswing, 9.3 seconds between attacks, and massive damage vs alien. where his forms differentiate is in their second target, and while first and second form share health and damage stat, third form can use stat talents to increase both (third form is also immune to curse and gains several abilities through talents such as dodge, freeze immune, and warp immune).
at level 30, catman and dark catman have 4569.89 generalist dps and 42500 generalist dph (damage per hit). their dps and dph are quadrupled to 18279.56 and 170000 (respectively) when against their target traits with all cotc fruit treasures. at 440 range, you can see why this is a pretty solid uber. when fully boosted to level 60, these numbers increase to 8602.15 (34408.6 vs targets) dps and 80000 (320000 vs targets) dph. while his foreswing is slightly long, at 2.33 seconds, it's not that much of a problem and he will still usually hit his intended target.
catman's nuking capabilities can be compared to those of bahamut cat. they have similar generalist dps at the same level (catman has a couple hundred more); however, bahamut attacks slower and does more damage, as opposed to catman's faster but weaker attack cycle (comparatively. they're both nukers at the end of the day). this can help get peons and weaker enemies off of him, but can help reposition high knockback threats more than bahamut, and if both can only get one attack off, catman will do much less damage. catman's trait targeting settles this argument, however, giving him roughly twice as much damage vs his target traits per hit as bahamut. first/second form (same unit with different appearance) bahamut is famously replaceable by better generalists after early game, however, and this should be taken with a grain of salt.
catman's survivability is also great, with five knockbacks and a very solid 67150 health at level 30 (126400 at level 60). this gives him a chunky 13k (25k at 60) endurance while still allowing for him to reposition four times before finally going down. this is pretty good for a nuker.
compatibility with his target traits is pretty solid. effectively all alien frontliners will get crushed by that 170k damage per hit and his high range can prevent backliners from hitting him. floating is a trait that's particularly susceptible to being nuked, with floating enemies typically having high knockback count with low range (bun bun and his variants, brollow, pigeon, gobble, some face variants, a couple cyclones, corrupted valkyrie, raging bahamut) or low knockback count with low range (other face variants, owlbrow, mooth and its variants, most cyclones), all of which can be easily nuked and destroyed by catman's first form. while dark catman is less compatible with angel than catman is with floating, he still works well against quite a few major threats (angelic gory, slepinir, winged pigge if you meatshield enough, boraphim, rajakong, st dober) and can carry your way through many angel stages.
catman's only real flaws are few and far between, but the obvious ones are getting potentially outclassed as a generalist and specialist and lack of immunities. the 4.5k dps gets cleared by units like awakened ururun. aliens can be dealt with uberless due to units like catellite, seafarer, psychocat, and chill cat, and there are better uber rare options such as aphrodite, saki, most pixies, klay, shingen, and quite a few generalists that happen to target alien or do well without targeting it, such as amaterasu, rekon, sirius, and most fest exclusives. floatings are VERY powercrept. units like fishman, sanzo, octo, camera, and necro negate the need for a costly uber to destroy floating, especially if you're only really bringing catman for one or two enemies. you have ramen for angels. if that's not enough, you have sanzo, juliet, talented fiend, talented duelist, miasma, and time traveler. while none of these negate catman's usefulness vs said traits, it does lessen a perceived need for him. catman also lacks any immunities before true form, making him weak to CC such as mr mole, henry, croakley, winged pigge, any relic, several warp enemies, any wave/surge enemy, and anything else with CC that's very detrimental to catman. while, again, this isn't as bad as it may seem, it does make him useful in less situations than he would be with just one or two immunities.
ultimate catman, the true form, is an anti-alien and anti-relic nuker. before talents, it's the same as previous forms but with relic target as opposed to floating or angel, but it has curse immune, which is standard for an anti-relic specialist.
before talents, at level 30, it has 13709.67 dps (25806.45 at 60) and 127500 dph (240000 at 60) vs relics. with talents, it has 16451.61 dps (30967.74 at 60)/153000 dph (288000 at 60) vs relics, and 21935.48 dps (41290.32 at 60)/204000 dph (384000 at 60) vs alien.
health talents give it 80580 (151680 at 60) health, giving it more survivability which is rather unnecessary, freeze and warp immune are decent CC immunities that help it in henry stages and vs warp enemies such as star peng, wanwan, and mesocosmocyclone but neither is that important, and dodge is largely irrelevant due to low chance and low dodge time.
relic nuking is a very solid niche. relic powercreep is much lower than the likes of alien, floating, and angel, and despite units such as future and slapsticks working well and UL legend true forms being arguably better than catman's true form, catman will serve you well through pretty much all of UL, murdering threats such as m ost, oldhorn, relic bun-bun, othom, and puffington (440 range means it's outranged by lowkey sadly). very powerful true form, although it does kinda fall off as soon as you get luza.
tl;dr: catman is a strong nuker that will last through SoL and can be true formed to work in UL, although it will fall off somewhat in late/endgame. very good unit.
