I'm so proud to finally present a fic that's lived in my head for a year and a half. I've fallen so in love with this world and these characters, and I know I've grown as a writer bringing them to life (or afterlife, I guess.) So grateful to the folks at Bandom Big Bang 2023 for giving me the community love to finish this and share it with the world, and to my best friend Maddie for supporting me since the first night I had this idea. She made this banner, and it almost made me cry.

“‘Name?’ The Busdriver asked. Pete blinked. How the fuck had he gotten here?

‘Um, Pete,’ Pete answered after a moment, looking around himself wildly. ‘Uh, where am I?’”

Pete finds himself on a bus hurtling through the sky, with absolutely no recollection of who he is or how he got there. The other bus riders seem nice enough, if rather strange, but really, all Pete wants to do is get his memories back and never see the bus again. Unfortunately, he can’t do that until he’s deemed “ready” (whatever that means), and has to stay on the bus in the meantime.

It’s not all bad, though. There’s Gabe, with his penchant for card games, Vicky with her camera, Joe with his rambling philosophy. There’s the motel they stop in every night, with its mind-blowing food and creaking walls. There’s the slow, happy way Pete starts to feel like a part of something, and as dreams of his past life begin tormenting him, Pete’s all of the sudden not sure if he really wants to go back.

A moodboard for Fairyland by @warwrnlipstick! I really loved the way she described the energy flowing through Frank's body in his relationship with dance. Also I'd love for Gerard's Demolition Lovers ballet to be real; I'd buy tickets to that in a heartbeat!
