Oscar is our first heir for this legacy and since he's still just a tot, many of his outfit choices are still chosen by his parents and guardians. However, he seems to have picked up on his parents preferred color palette of black and grey, with some added blues, greens and browns. All of his clothing is made of sturdy fabric and ready for rough housing and playing tough.
In appearance, we can already see that his nose is quite prominent and his eyes a beautiful grey-blue hue, taking after his mother, Winifred, while his hair a striking black to contrast. Still quite young, he hasn't quite lost his chubbiness from being a baby or grown in all his teeth, but you best believe he is ready to take on whatever adventures await him each and every day.
Also, I wanted to mention that I've actually messed up Ozzy's aging for how I intend to progress my Sims ages going forward. So it will probably seem like Ozzy is stuck in toddler-hell for a lot longer than he should be but we're just going to go with it at this point because I had already styled his looks!
Please see my resource page for details on his skin details, nose mask, etc! All other CC links are located beneath the cut 🖤

hellooooo korka. do you have any big influences on your writing style? specific stories/authors you read that really inspired how you write. thank you love <3
Ooo!! Interesting question :o i guess it's been so long since I've started developing my style, i can barely remember who i was inspired by most... i think i remember reading writers who used irony often, and i loved using it myself, giving the omniscient narrator a dash of personality. Sometimes i wanna use it again :> Right now, I mostly wanna take inspiration from Marinković and the like. I found his mastery of wordplay so good, it really made everything feel profound.
I think with me, right now, i take more inspiration for themes and motifs (from Poe, from Baudelaire, so on) than for a specific style, but every once in a while I'll read a book, have to pause and backtrack to analyse what devices the author used that made the paragraph i'd just read pop lol. I can't remember what books those would have been back when I started writing (and which have probably influenced my style a lot more than any recent), but I very distinctly remember reading Cyclops by Marinković and thinking "This is the sort of style I want to write in, this is the sort of vocabulary and flow and wit I want in my writing". I think I mould my style more by reading about literary periods these days - I love mixing elements of the romantic period with elements of avant-garde especially

It annoys me a little bit that since Baudelaire Welch said that they got to put some extra time and care into Astarion x Durge relationship, some people in the fandom assumed it as canon. I (and probably a lot of other people as well) felt that it kind of undermines Astarion x Tav. So, I believe that it's important to remember that, so far, none of the choices and permutations in the game is canon. And your Astarion x Tav ship is just as valid and canon as Astarion x Durge or any other one.

L'albatros and parallels in OFMD
1.4k word meta
If you haven’t read my other posts about why I’m talking about albatrosses in the first place, as well as the literary significance of referencing them, read those and come back! All of this will make the most sense if you read all of the parts I’ve written – I’ve split them up for ease of reading, because holy shit this is long.
This particular post is what I will deem as less likely to be supported by canon than the one talking about The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but I still want to get this out because regardless of whether it’s intentional or not, L’albatros sums up a lot of what I feel Ed is thinking regarding his life and his place in the world.
For future reference, I’m writing this on 10/8/2023, so I’m only working with season 1 and the first three episodes of season 2. More than likely, extra information concerning my theories will come up when new episodes are released – I’ll see about reworking these posts then if necessary.
TWs: suicidal ideation, depression, isolation, canon-typical mental health problems
MAJOR OFMD SPOILERS THROUGH S2E03
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just like in my post about The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I’ll clarify that yes, this is anachronistic – this poem wasn’t published until 1859. I also don’t care: Oluwande is wearing crocs, Stede’s “corpse” is crushed by a piano whose maker won’t exist until 1863, Blackbeard’s got his whole leather-daddy getup, Zheng Yi Sao won’t be born until 1775 – OFMD plays fast and loose with historical accuracy, and I am never going to dismiss an OFMD theory because the ~timeline~ doesn’t match up.
L'albatros is a poem written by French poet Charles Baudelaire that describes the plight of the albatross – a mighty king of the sea and sky, with massive wings that dwarf other seabirds (no, for real, these things are gargantuan – its wingspan is wider than most humans are tall) – who is well suited to its environment, but only its own environment.
The poem is originally in French, and while there is an English adaptation of it, when I quote from the poem, I’ll be drawing from the original text and translating it. I think that method best captures the original intent of the word choices.
So, the poem starts out by describing a common pastime of sailors – catching albatrosses that fly alongside their ships, bringing them down onto the deck and keeping them from flying away (how exactly they do this is not made clear in the poem). The poem describes the downed birds as pitiful, clumsy, and ashamed/shameful (French: honteux). Their great big wings trail beside them as they try to walk, dragging like oars. Here are the first 2 quatrains, if you want to try to read them or translate them.
The third quatrain essentially describes, from the perspective of an onlooker, how utterly stupid this bird looks. He is gauche – a word you might recognize from its English usage – which is translated as “awkward,” but I would argue that in the case of describing humans, this word also can be translated as “socially inept.” That’s important, I’ll come back to it later. The bird is veule – a word that translates directly as “weak” or “spineless.” He, who was so beautiful just a short time ago, is now comical and ugly.
Ce voyageur ailé, comme il est gauche et veule !
Lui, naguère si beau, qu’il est comique est laid !
Continuing the third stanza, the sailors poke and prod at the albatross, making fun of how he has been crippled by having landed on the deck of the ship.
L’un agace son bec avec un brûle-gueule,
L’autre mime, en boitant, l’infirme qui volait.
The fourth and final quatrain makes a link between the author of the poem and this albatross that he observed. To me, the wording here is really what drives home the connection between Ed and the poet/the albatross, so I’m going to translate each line.
Le Poète est semblable au Prince des nuées
The Poet is similar to/like the Prince of the Clouds
Qui hante la tempête et se rit de l’archer
Who haunts the tempest and laughs at the archer/bowman
Exilé sur le sol, au milieu des huées
Exiled on the earth/soil/ground, in the midst of jeers/booing
Ses ailes de géants l’empêchent de marcher.
His giant wings keep him from walking.
Quick clarification - I’ll admit that there’s a huge assumption that I’m making in that the writers of OFMD decided to reference this specific poem in this extremely tangential way, despite the albatross here representing something entirely different than its normal meaning in literature. For the sake of argument, I’m going to assume for the rest of this post that they did do that, and that this poem exists in-universe over 100 years before it was written in real life. Ok? Ok! :D
So at this point, if you’re familiar with Our Flag Means Death, you may have guessed that the connection I’ve drawn is between the narrator of this poem (the Poet) and Ed. In my mind, at some point in his life, Ed has read this poem, and he has also heard that little factoid about albatrosses spending their entire lives away from shore (and read my first post if you need clarification on that!). And over the course of his life, and especially the past several months, he’s come to associate himself with the views he’s cultivated of the albatross – never meant to leave the sea, never meant to be a part of life on shore (“polite society”), and he would look stupid and silly if he tried. This is a view he’s held since childhood – as we see with his conversation with his mother in S1E06 –
We’re just not those kinds of people.
And it’s a view that Stede had started to put a dent into during their time together. Where Ed says he’s not a good person, Stede vehemently defends his good character. Where Calico Jack says pirates don’t have friends, Stede tells him that he’s his friend. That Ed wears fine things well, that he’s quite sophisticated. All things that Ed has never allowed himself to believe could possibly be true – until he met Stede, he never even considered that he could “land” – and for a few precious weeks, Ed believes him.
And then Stede leaves. After Ed has laid himself bare, more vulnerable than he has ever let himself be in his life, after Ed has exposed who he really is – the only person who has ever wholly accepted him leaves. And Ed is left floundering, like the mighty prince of the sky trying to walk on the deck of a ship. That fourth quatrain brings a lot of scenes from the show to mind – here are some examples.
The Prince of the Clouds, who haunts the tempest.
Tumblr media
The one who is exiled on the Earth.
Tumblr media
In the midst of jeers. (recall the use of the word “gauche”? I believe that in this case, the “socially inept” definition applies even better than the simple translation of “awkward”)
Tumblr media
His giant wings keep him from walking.
Tumblr media
The way this poem describes the plight of the albatross is nigh on exactly how Ed is supposedly seeing himself post-breakup. He just was never meant to have the kind of life that he wants; he’s extremely good at one thing, and one thing only – violence. He will never have any other life.
This is why I think Ed has read this poem – because he references the albatross as a “bird that never lands,” and in the poem, this bird just so happens to also be seen as stupid, ugly, and gauche when it is put into any situation other than what it excels at. And regardless of whether this is actually intended to be a canonical reference or even if it was completely unintentional on the part of the writers, this poem holds a special place in my heart because of how well I believe it captures Ed’s emotional situation.
So, thanks for making it this far – I’d love to hear some feedback if any of you have anything to add! As always, my inbox is open, feel free to DM if you want to do any reciprocal info/opinion-dumping about the beloved Pirate Show!!

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … April 9

1476 – Italy: Leonardo Da Vinci and three other young men are accused of sodomy anonymously, but subsequently acquitted.

1821 – The French poet Charles Baudelaire (d.1867), a central figure in nineteenth-century French literature, was born on in Paris (d.1867). Two collections of Baudelaire's poetry continue to intrigue and influence writers: Les fleurs du mal (Flowers Of Evil, 1857) and Le spleen de Paris (Paris Spleen, 1869). In the latter collection, published posthumously, he essentially invented the "prose poem." For a while lived the modish life of a literary dandy on an inheritance from his father, reluctantly joining the Paris boheme when his fortune ran dry.
Speculation continues about his personal life. Some early writers suggested that he died a virgin; many others now believe that he died of syphilis acquired in 1841. He had complicated relations with Jeanne Duvall, a prostitute; Madame Sabatier, a courtesan for the wealthy and socially prominent; and Marie Daubrun, an actress. The poems Duvall inspired portray her as both the apex of beauty and the nadir of evil.
Lesbianism fascinated Baudelaire. He even considered naming his first book of poems Les lesbiennes. "Lesbos," from Les fleurs du mal, celebrates lesbian love and evokes Sappho, who is described as both "mannish" and "beautiful." Further, the speaker challenges the authorities who would "dare" judge those who inhabit Lesbos. Even the gods would not dare to judge these women, he asserts.
Two other poems called "Femmes damnées" also explore lesbianism. Here the lovers, with their disordered souls, must suffer in a world wound tight with rules. The bourgeois considers such women demonic; that alone makes them fascinating to Baudelaire.
Male homosexuality does not receive this kind of direct treatment; gay men can find no equivalent "Lesbos" in his work.
He was probably homosexual himself, or at least Marcel Proust thought so, as did Andre Gide, Roger Peyrefitte, and many others. The floppy cravat that Baudelaire affected became all the rage of European dandies and homosexuals during the first decades of the 20th century, gays having adopted him as their very own at an early date.

1909 – the Australian dancer, actor, director and choreographer Sir Robert Helpmann CBE was born on this date (d.1986). Born Robert Murray Helpman, he added the extra 'n' to avoid his name having 13 letters, at the suggestion of the dance diva Anna Pavlova, who was a devotee of numerology.
He was born in Mount Gambier and also boarded at Prince Alfred College in Adelaide, South Australia. The Helpmann Academy in South Australia, a partnership of the major visual and performing arts education and training institutions in South Australia offering award courses for people seeking professional careers in the arts, was named in his honor.
in 1932 he went to London. He joined the Sadler's Wells, later the Royal Ballet and was a principal dancer from 1933 to 1950. He established a great partnership with Margot Fonteyn, and together with choreographer Frederick Ashton, created many great roles, whilst also occasionally undertaking straight acting roles. Helpmann and Fonteyn toured the United States as principal dancers with the Royal Ballet in 1949 and caused a sensation, making stars of them all.
In 1938, Helpmann met a young Oxford undergraduate while fulfilling an invitation to dance at the university. Immediately drawn to the handsome and intelligent Michael Benthall, the pair formed a relationship that was to last for 36 years until the English theatre director Benthall's untimely death in 1974. The couple lived and often worked together quite openly for the time.
In 1965 Helpmann returned to Australia to become co-director of the Australian Ballet. Since he was Gay and flamboyant, his arrival in what was at that time a very conservative country caused some consternation. Australians were proud of his international fame, but not sure what to make of him personally. His most significant contribution to the development of theatre in Australia was his time with the Australian Ballet. The avant-garde nature and sexual overtones of much of his work unsettled many Australians. He did not endear himself with the comment: "I don't despair about the cultural scene in Australia because there isn't one here to despair about."
Helpmann's obituaries in the Australian media were suitably laudatory, but also reserved. The country paid him the highest final recognition it could by honouring him with a state funeral in Sydney, the eulogy calling him "a genius, an outstanding communicator of unique inspiration and insight. He asserted his rights to pursue a path that improved the quality of life of the nation, and defeated the common herd of detractors." An obituary in The Times in London, characterised his appearance as "strange, haunting and rather frightening", and portrayed him as "a homosexual of the proselytizing kind" whose impact upon a company was "dangerous as well as stimulating", creating fresh headlines in Australia.

1929 – The Utah Supreme Court, although upholding the constitutionality of the 1925 sterilization law, rules that a prisoner caught in the act of consensual sodomy with another prisoner, and who is described as "acting lovingly toward other boys in the prison," can not be sterilized for that reason alone.

1948 – Bernard-Marie Koltès was a French playwright and director (d.1989).
Born to a middle-class family in Metz, his life was violent and anchored in revolt. He took off from home at 20 for a nomadic writing life that began with a stay in New York in 1968. For a social rebel seeking an uninhibited gay experience, the timing was perfect. He returned to New York frequently until his death in 1989. He he had tried his hand at writing as a youth but renounced it, and didn't take to the stage until the age of twenty. He first garnered recognition for his work on a production of Medea (Médée) in 1970.
After seeing the film actress Maria Casarès, he was inspired and resumed writing, completing around ten plays in his lifetime. His first piece, the long monologue, The Night Just Before The Forests, was staged in 1977 at the Avignon Festival, and subsequent productions were put on in collaboration with director Patrice Chéreau.
Koltès's work, based in real-life problems, expresses the tragedy of being alone and of death. Koltes is most famous for The Night Just Before the Forests (La Nuit juste avant les Forêts, 1976), r (1977) and In the Solitude of Cotton Fields (Dans la Solitude des Champs de Coton, 1986). Many of these plays were first directed by Patrice Chereau when he was artistic director of the Théâtre des Amandiers in Nanterre. Koltes also translated into French Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale.
Genet and the absurdists influenced Koltès's writing. Like other absurdist writers, he felt exiled - in his case, as a homosexual in a heterosexual world. In Africa, he saw native cultures being wiped out by European influences. This theme brought forth Black Battles with Dogs. After a visit to America he wrote Quay West (1985), about a brother and sister in a foreign culture. The title and the opening dialogue of that play, about tempting, dangerous life in moldy warehouses on a river, recall the West Street piers of the meatpacking district, and their vast, collapsing sheds that for two decades were sex resorts for venturesome gay men.
The psychopathic killer Roberto Succo provided the inspiration for his final play Roberto Zucco. It was first performed posthumously in Berlin in 1990, directed by Peter Stein. It has since been performed across Europe and the United States.
Although he did not attempt to deny it, Kolteès only ever referred fleetingly to his homosexuality, downplaying this as a motivating factor or theme behind his writing. He was rarely forthcoming about his private life, and what he did say is often contradictory or misleading.
Koltès died in 1989 due to complications from AIDS.

1963 – Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs, a diffusion line, with more than 200 retail stores in 80 countries. He has been the creative director of the French design house Louis Vuitton since 1997. Jacobs is on Time Magazine's "2010 Time 100" list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and ranked 12th on Out Magazine's 2011 list of "50 Most Powerful Gay Men and Women in America".
Jacobs, who is openly gay was in a four-year relationship with salesman and retired escort Jason Preston. However, in February 2008, it was reported that Jacobs was engaging in an affair with escort and porn star Erik Rhodes who died in 2012.. Later he was in a relationship with advertising executive Lorenzo Martone. In March 2009, Women's Wear Daily reported that the pair was engaged after a year of dating. Several reports that they got married were later denied. On July 24, 2010, Martone announced via Twitter that he and Jacobs had not been together for two months.
In April 2018, Jacobs proposed to his new boyfriend, Charly Defrancesco, via a flashmob while in a Chipotle restaurant. The flashmob did a routine to the song "Kiss" by Prince. They were married in a lavish wedding held in New York City in April 2019.
Jacobs and Defrancesco purchased a home in Rye, New York in April 2019. The Westchester home was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is known as the Max Hoffman House.

1999 – Montero Lamar Hill, known by his stage name Lil Nas X, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to prominence with the release of his country rap single "Old Town Road", which first achieved viral popularity in early 2019 before climbing music charts internationally and becoming diamond certified by November of that same year, moving over ten million certified units in streaming and sales combined.
"Old Town Road" spent 19 weeks atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the longest-running number-one song since the chart debuted in 1958. Several remixes of the song were released, the most popular of which featured country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. As "Old Town Road" was atop the Hot 100, Lil Nas X came out as gay, becoming the only artist to do so while having a number-one record.
Montero Lamar Hill was born in Lithia Springs, Georgia. He was named after the Mitsubishi Montero. His parents divorced when he was six, and he settled in the Bankhead Courts housing project with his mother and grandmother. Three years later, he moved in with his father, a gospel singer, north of the city in Austell. Although initially reluctant to leave, he later regarded it as an important decision, "There's so much shit going on in Atlanta—if I would have stayed there, I would have fallen in with the wrong crowd." He started "using the Internet heavily right around the time when memes started to become their own form of entertainment"; about when he was 13.
He spent much of his teenage years alone, and turned to the Internet, "particularly Twitter, creating memes that showed his disarming wit and pop-culture savvy." His teenage years also saw him struggling with his coming out to himself as being gay; he prayed that it was just a phase, but around 16 or 17 he came to accept it. He began playing trumpet in the fourth grade and was first chair by his junior high years, but quit out of fear of looking uncool.
In early June 2019, Lil Nas X came out to his sister and father and he felt "the universe was signalling him to do so", despite his uncertainty whether his fans would stick by him or not. On June 30, 2019, the last day of Pride Month, Lil Nas X came out publicly as gay, tweeting: "some of y'all already know, some of y'all don't care, some of y'all not gone [fuck with me] no more. but before this month ends i want y'all to listen closely to c7osure. 🌈🤩✨" The tweet confirmed earlier suspicions when he first indicated this in his track "c7osure". Rolling Stone noted the song "touches on themes such as coming clean, growing up and embracing one's self". The next day he tweeted again, this time highlighting the rainbow-colored building on the cover art of his EP 7, with the caption reading "deadass thought i made it obvious". He was unambiguous in an interview several days later on BBC Breakfast, where he stated that he was gay and understands that his sexuality is not readily accepted in the country or rap music communities.
The response to the news was mostly positive, but also garnered a large amount of homophobic backlash on social media, to which Lil Nas X also reacted. The backlash also came from the hip hop community, drawing attention to homophobia in hip hop culture. In January 2020, rapper Pastor Troy made homophobic comments on the outfit Lil Nas X wore during the Grammy Awards, to which Lil Nas X responded: "Damn I look good in that pic on god."
In January 2023, Lil Nas X tweeted a new statement about his sexual orientation, writing "be [for real] would y’all be mad at me if i thought i was a little bisexual". The next day, he tweeted "that was my last time coming out the closet i promise".

dweird's OC-tober day 12, 13, & 14 ! The rest of my fan servants: Baudelaire (assassin), Voltaire (caster), and Prometheus (ruler) in his mecha ascension. I have drawn Prometheus before, but I'll leave some extra info on the rest under the cut if you are curious!
Charles Baudelaire - assassin class, probably skills with poison or curse effect, or maybe one that can take an ally's status effects for himself. He is quite grumpy and loves to complain. He likes pretty things and looking at women, but he's too shy to ever talk to them so he's also bitter about that. He likes to drink and smoke but can't bear to do it with other people because everyone complains that he looks too young for it. Baudelaire's essays talk a lot about youth and make up and women in general so I thought giving him a sort of androgynous youngish look would be nice...! His is probably an Arts NP that inflicts terror and locks skills. He is an assassin because I wanted to lean on the Cursed Poet thing lol
Voltaire - caster class, probably Quick based set that can be played as offensive or defensive, if you got the right companions. He's the glue that holds the team together. He is very wise and smart, but often times just chooses to be silly for the fun of it as long as it does no harm. He is very curious about everything and is very good at conversation. Dante thinks he is really cool and they talk theology together, Houdini respects him and likes that they are both skeptics, Prometheus is happy he can talk philosophy with someone else, and Baudelaire stands him because he's also an author and French. His NP is probably single target that does more damage if the enemy has some status effects (like Robin!)
Also Prometheus mecha ver because all them greeks gods need a mecha ver. His mech is actually grey-ish brown, and I wanted it to look like a moth, moth to a flame etc you get it.

So this is really random, and no one asked for this, but have my nationality headcanons for a whole load of asoue/atwq characters.?? No real explanation for these hcs, it's just how I imagine the characters ! :) (might throw in some extra hcs along the way because why not.)
P.S I'm quite fascinated by the history of the colonisation of America and the patterns of immigration that occurred thereafter, which is partially why I'm making this post. However, I'm not American and have never received actual American education so I'm sorry if I am miseducated in any regard.

HC: Ike, too, had family for generations in the USA. Canonically in the books, he is the second cousin of one of the Baudelaire parents (I hc him on Bea's side of the family) so in my headcanon, his ancestry is British/Irish. His brother, Gregor, is obviously the same.
The Denouement triplets are American
HC: the triplets are third-generation immigrants with British and Dutch ancestry. Mother's side British and father's side Dutch. There had been plans to raise the triplets in England, but a mysterious friend of their mother convinced them to stay in the USA for reasons unknown...
Tumblr media
Unfortunate Gen
The Baudelaire children are French-American
HC: Bea is American and Bertrand French, as stated above. They grew up speaking both languages fluently.
The Quagmire triplets are Italian-American
HC: their mother is Italian and their father American. Their mother and her parents made sure they grew up speaking Italian.
Fiona Widdershins is American/Moroccan
HC: As stated with Fernald above, her biological father was Moroccan, although her and Fernald never knew him nor that they were Moroccan.
Carmelita Spats is Dutch-American
HC: Carmelita is a fourth-generation immigrant and she has little connection to her ancestry due to not being in contact with her family anymore.
Beatrice Baudelaire II is Chinese-American
HC: as Kit is her mother, she has her ancestry, of course. I am personally a fan of the theory that Olaf is her father, not Dewey, so in this post, we'll say that his ancestry plays here too...
Ben (Violet's friend) is American
HC: Ben is American with British and Native American ancestry.
Well, I've probably missed about a million characters, but there it is ! This is a super random post but I just felt like I might as well post some headcanons for the hell of it. Always love to hear other people's headcanons for Snicketverse characters. Thanks if you read all the way to the end, I love you

Can't Help Falling in Love | K.B.
Tumblr media
It’s been a while since Klaus has been in the city, considering the fact that he had been staying at an isolated island for the past few years.
They had decided to wait until Violet had come of age before returning back to the rest of the world, considering their history would give them a hard time in finding a job and the fact that they had a toddler to sustain.
After a long journey, the four of them finally reached the dock - they had yet to find out what city they’re in but at least they were on land.
Violet picked Beatrice up, not bothering to anchor the boat to the dock as they won’t be needing it anymore.
“I guess we have to stop by the bank first.” Violet mused.
“Yeah,” Klaus agreed, holding on to Sunny’s hand, “Then we can try to look for a place to stay.”
“Or something to eat.” Sunny added.
The Snicket and three Baudelaires waved their way through the traffic, stopping once they had found themselves in front of the building that had the name Sunside Banking glittering under the sunlight.
“I guess this is it.” Violet said, exchanging a look with her brother.
Pushing the glass door, they were hit with the cold air coming from the air conditioner. A nice lady immediately assisted them without question.
Maybe things wouldn’t be so bad after all.
The bell gave a small ding as Klaus pushed open the door, he saw an ad saying that the store needed an extra helper so he decided to take a chance.
Breathing in the familiar scent of books and looking around at the tall shelves, Klaus felt like it was his lucky day - something he hasn’t felt in a long time.
“How can I help you?” A voice suddenly said, pulling his attention towards the counter.
Now he knew what the poets were talking about: how he would feel that the breath had just been knocked out of his lungs, how everything else would fade away and you were the only one his brain could focus on, how he would feel his heart racing faster than the speed of light.
To put it short, it was wonderful. He never felt this way with Isadora Quagmire, his first love, or with Fiona, his first heartbreak. It was like having a crush but make it ten times better.
“Hello?” Your voice brought him out of his trance. “Are you okay?”
He chuckled, running a hand through his hair, “Yeah, I was actually planning on applying for the job opening?”
“What’s got you smiling like that?” Violet asked her brother with an amused smile.
Klaus shrugged, mind still occupied with the thought of you, “Nothing. I already told you - I got the job.”
Violet nodded, putting a blanket over a napping Beatrice, “Yeah, but your smile is telling a different story.”
“He’s in love.” Sunny walks into the room, carrying a tray of freshly baked cookies.
“Aha!” Violet exclaimed as Klaus gave no protest to Sunny’s claim, “Who is she?”
Klaus sighed in defeat, taking a cookie from the tray, “Her name is Y/N and she works at the bookstore I just got a job in.”
“That is literally your dream meet-cute.” Violet teased.
“You didn’t ask her out, didn’t you?” Sunny said.
“Of course I didn’t.” Klaus defended, “I just met her - why would I? She might think that I’m some sort of creep.
It’s been three weeks since Klaus had first met you and things have been going smoothly so far.
Violet had been egging him to tell you how he feels and he already did his research to try and ease his mind. But it’s like no one can agree on the perfect way to ask a girl out.
The two of you were busy shelving the new books that had just arrived that morning.
Truth be told, he didn’t have a hard time making conversation with you, frankly it was the opposite. He loved talking to you, he loved picking your brain at topics that he couldn’t discuss with Violet or Sunny due to their different interests.
“I just thought of a quote.” Klaus suddenly said out of the blue, picking up another stack of books from the box, “I can’t really remember where I read it but it goes ‘Wise men say only fools rush in’-”.
“‘But I can’t help falling in love with you.” You finished, looking over at him with a smile.
“Yeah.” Klaus cleared his throat, ignoring the heat rising up to his cheeks as he returned to the task at hand.
A moment of silence passed between the two of you before you spoke up.
“Was that your way of asking me out?”
“I-I. It was. Probably?” Klaus always seemed so composed, this was the first time you saw him trip over his words.
“It’s okay if you just want to stay friends, I just really wanted to-” He was once again interrupted but this time, by your lips on his.
“Wow.” Klaus breathed out afterwards, making you giggle, “Please tell me I’m not dreaming.”
“Nope. Nope at all.” You answered, fixing his glasses that had been knocked askew.

Hi!! Do you have any hcs about the Quagmire triplets? :))
Hello anon! I have headcanons for the Quagmires triplets, book-verse and Netflix show, being different continuities.
As I am in a Netflix ASOUE mood today, the headcanons about the Quagmires triplets headcanons are for the Netflix show. It's rather long, so it's going to go underneath the cut after Duncan's headcanons.
I do hope you enjoy my Netflix-based headcanons!
Duncan Quagmire
Alongside wanting to be a journalist, Duncan has a habit of writing down interesting history facts in his commonplace notebook.
Has terrible handwriting. Worse, Duncan sometimes eats when writing, so there’s food stains on a few pages that smudges his already messy handwriting.
As there is evidence of a low-key romance between Violet and Duncan in the books (very low-key), Duncan has a crush on Violet, thinking he’s subtle with it (he’s not).
Gets close to Hector during post-TVV. Duncan isn’t sure why, but he thinks it may be due to both of them being close on the verge of crying when they feel like it.
Even though he’s the oldest, Duncan is the timidest of his siblings, and would prefer to avoid any means of confrontation. Duncan stopping Carmelita bullying the Baudelaires was him taking assertive action for the first time.
While not really a night owl, Duncan can survive the day with only five hours of sleep without getting (too) cranky and snapping at someone.
Always likes to keep his hair short as well as neat. Duncan doesn’t mind long hair (he even grew it out once to match Quigley for an April Fools prank), but he personally thinks the long hair image is not for him, for he is neat and organized.
Would never think about using physical force in any way or form, even if the person probably deserves it; Duncan is a true pacifist.
Is not a swearer, because he doesn’t know many swears words/too polite.
Duncan has perfect vision (or at least better than Isadora’s vison). As such, he’s the first to spot Quigley at the ruins of Anwhistle Aquatic.
Isadora Quagmire
Alongside her interest in poetry, she has a love of cursive. Isadora can also copy other people handwriting. She can’t copy Duncan’s handwriting though.
Due to having long hair, Isadora likes to experiment with different hairstyles, usually with her mother’s help. The main style she likes the most is her default down look.
Isadora doesn’t like to use physical force, so more often than not Isadora will try insulting a person to their face. That said, Isadora almost throws a punch at Carmelita when the girl tried to bully Duncan and got him close to crying, but stop due to Duncan’s insisting
Is bi, like her namesake (Isadora Duncan). Isadora has crush on Klaus. For a while, she had a crush on Carmelita until the ‘bullying Duncan’ incident made Isadora do a 180.
Isadora’s favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Her favorite type of breakfast food is pancakes (with fruit), so she’s always extra happy when it’s being served.
Definitely know some swear words. Isadora learns them all through tutors and visitors to the household who believed were swearing in private, when the reality is Isadora was eavesdropping on them.
While having a great relationship with her brothers, Isadora wishes that she has a sister she can talk to. There are things Duncan and Quigley will never understand completely.
Isadora likes to doodles random things in her commonplace notebook. As she is not the greatest artist, Isadora’s doodles sometimes look similar to cursive handwriting.
Isadora has a fear of heights, so her climbing up the Self-Sustaining Hot Air Mobile Home was super scary. Living in it is such, a challenge for her, but she managed.
Quigley Quagmire
Alongside his interest in cartography, Quigley has a minor interest in photography. He really likes to take photos of the night sky, especially if the moon is full.
Is a prankster, but only if he’s in the mood to cause trouble. He roped Duncan in the past for April Fools due to being identical to one another and has no regrets.
Despite being the youngest, Quigley is mistaken for the oldest because he’s much more assertive than Duncan, which creates the ‘oldest triplet’ impression.
Messy Eater™. At times, Quigley will eat with the wrong utensil or eat by hand if there are no utensil around for him to use.
Always has the wish to grow out his hair. It’s not like Quigley hates his short and neat hair, he just wants a look that reflects him being a messy and disorganized person. As such, Quigley post-Quagmire fire didn’t bother to cut his hair to live out his dream.
Is not only a light sleeper, but Quigley also has difficult falling to sleep. If he’s disturbed by any noise, it’s hard for him to go back to sleep with ease.
Quigley once tried taking accordion lessons, but dropped it because it was much more difficult than he imagined. Reading about Snicket made Quigley wish he continued it.
Honestly did not except himself to get a crush on Violet after knowing her for a few hours, but Quigley has no regrets with their implied first kiss.
Hates himself for looking inside the Sugar Bowl. He wished he never look inside it.
Quigley only knew Hector for a few minutes, but he 100% trusts the handyman.

Some Updates
So, after a few days of tinkering around my files and melting my brain, I have some good news and bad news.
Bad news; I lost the Baudelaire save 😔 Somehow or another, the save file got corrupted, and I had long been passed the point of no return. Nothing I could've done would save it, and while I did have saves of the family, those saves were corrupted as well. In addition to this, I lost had to do a complete purge of all of my cc, which is kinda a blessing in disguise. That folder was RIDDLED with broken cc/mods and I needed to go through it ages ago. With a fresh new start, my game is so much more faster and I can actually sort my cc/mods into proper folders and not lose my mind every time I have to go through them.
Good news; my game is fixed! 😅 Everything seems to be working so far, even with the addition of mods and such. So, it seems like I'm starting over! While I am very upset about losing the Baudelaires, I'm also excited for a restart. Their story, although planned out, didn't make much sense in my own head and there were many things I wish I had changed. The newer rendition of the family will still include Evaline and Walter, and the family tree connecting them to Charlotte and Alexander, however a few things will be different, starting with their new last name!
The Baudelaires will now be known as the Mendozas, with Walter being the son of two immigrants, making him a first generation born in America in his family. Evaline is still relatively the same, but rather than going from a rather privileged life to another, she is outcasted by her father for marrying Walter and she must learn to adjust to this new way of life.
I am very excited for this start over, since it means I can use infants for the second generation, AND I can use horses before they become too old fashioned. And I can also use all of the cute new late victorian cc that's come out since.
I won't be deleting the Baudelaires or any of those posts, so if you'd like to reread or just take a look at Evaline and Walter 1.0, you can still do so under the Baudelaire Tag. I also might post some of the already finished posts that I had (I was in the 1900s with the Baudelaires) as little extras or something, since there are a few posts I am very proud of.
Anyway, long story short, I will be back soon and with a brand new story! I hope you all have an amazing day/night, and stay safe my friends.
- Ellie ♡

Do you have a source for the Larian crunch? I only see people praising them for how there wasn’t any.
Ja, one of the writers confirmed it in the Larian discord
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A screenshot of a Discord message sent by Baudelaire Welch, a writer for Baldur's Gate 3. Their message reads: "It was me! So thank you! I am the Dark Urge writer, but I worked on writing for Astarion for several months during crunch. Because I had the opportunity to, I added a lot of extra interactions between the two characters. That's why Astarion gets a bunch of ! dialogues for the Dark Urge, and none of the other characters do. I'm sure we would have liked to have every character repeatedly check in on the dark urge, but there wasn't really time/budget for it. I just was working on the two characters at the same time and wanted to squeak in him being super supportive and worried about you throughout the game." The segments "during crunch" and "there wasn't really time/budget for it." have been underlined in red to highlight their significance to the topic of this ask. /End ID.]

like a noir movie scene
Jacques is standing on the train platform when Bertrand gets off the train.
~1.1k. Jacques Snicket / Bertrand Baudelaire. also features: Beatrice Baudelaire.
Jacques is standing on the train platform when Bertrand gets off the train. He's wearing a brown trench coat, and a newsboy cap of matching color, his head inclined downwards at an angle that passers-by can't quite see his face. His hands are tucked into the pockets of the trench coat.
Trench coats are fairly "in" this season, according to the Daily Punctilio, so Jacques rather blends in nicely without attracting much attention. On the other hand, Jacques has the talent of picking whichever outfit that's supposedly in at the current moment, and makes it look vintage on him when he's wearing it, as if it's always been a classic since the beginning of time. Some latest fashion will look like latest fashion, the edge of all trends, on certain people - the recently up-and-rising actress Esme is one, and Beatrice another - but Jacques makes anything look classic.
Or perhaps Jacques is just a classic, himself.
Well, that's Bertrand's opinion. Kit's opinion is "you're biased, B, because you're half-in-love with him".
The night is quite cool, and just a little foggy. Jacques is standing by one of the lampposts on the platform, one of the few spots that are more illuminated on this foggy night. The cigarette he's smoking might've dampened the effects of the warm light, though.
The train takes off again, heading to the next station. Bertrand walks a few steps towards the trench coat figure, and notices a smaller, far more petite figure just nearby.
Beatrice is quite miniature compared to Jacques's lankiness. She is wearing a big black hat on her head, on which an elaborate bat - not a real one - rests. She's wearing a tailor-made black dress and a dark red coat, both with a large number of pockets in which she can carry many things, ranging from her mini-dictionary she takes everywhere with her to assorted small weapons of various levels of destruction, including a box of darts and a bottle of poison that can be coated onto the darts. The hem of the dress is just right above her knee, which is the innest length of the season, and so are the pair of leather shoes she has on.
Beatrice Baudelaire, in contrast to Jacques Snicket who makes fashion looks vintage, makes fashion looks extra fashionable. The fashionable look is partly designed to distract people away from the danger she can pose, the incredible selection of weapons hidden underneath.
Kit's comment is that it "combines practicality with fashion, a very clever and neat design", and Bertrand's response is "sure, but since when do you care about fashion, K?"
But despite the incredibly fashionable in selection of Beatrice's and Jacques's outfits, Bertrand takes a look at those two and feels like he's in some kind of noir movie.
The fog probably plays some role, he thinks.
Jacques Snicket. Beatrice Baudelaire.
Detective and femme fatale. Except he's not her detective, and she isn't his femme fatale.
Passing by Beatrice on his way to Jacques, Bertrand discreetly slips a small packet into one of the pockets in Beatrice's dark red coat, but the two don't exchange a word. He continues towards Jacques, who finally raises his head and briefly nods at Bertrand, cool and succinct.
They leave the train station together.
Jacques and Bertrand, that is. Beatrice remains on the platform, waiting to take a train that will arrive in 10 minutes, where she'll board with the small packet Bertrand just slipped her, and continue to carry it towards the next destination.
The intricate methods of communications and delivery of VFD.
Jacques leads the way out of the station, Bertrand following, and they arrive at a nearby alley with an old taxi parked. It looks even more weary and worn than the last time Bertrand saw it. Jacques unlocks the taxi, and they climb aboard, but not before Bertrand puts his suitcase in the trunk first.
Jacques takes off the newsboy cap as he settles down on the driver's seat comfortably. Inside the taxi, he looks a little less like some noir detective image encapsulating loneliness of The City, and simply just the Jacques that Bertrand knows quite well.
The fashion column editor of the Daily Punctilio gives Bertrand a lopsided smile. "Hi, B," he says.
"J," Bertrand says, quite warmly, relaxing.
The taxi always has that kind of effect for him. He likes to think of it as an old friend, the way the Snickets are to him. Not quite a far-fetched comparison, considering the taxi's been in the family for quite a while. He's heard the story about how it dutifully carried Jacob Snicket and his bridge partner to an important tournament that they were almost late for, only arriving at the last minute.
"The only one that calls my father Jake," he remembers Jacques explaining at that time when he told the story, referring to the bridge partner.
Bertrand leans in now, closer to the driver's seat, and kisses Jacques. Quiet. Slow. Savoring and tasting and feeling and melting into it. Jacques kisses him back, equally slow.
The inside of the taxi is slightly warmer than outside, but not by much. The air more still, feeling more so now as things seem to slow down around them. Not that the world seems to be moving too fast on a night like this.
They break apart. Jacques turns the ignition key, and radio comes up in the background, and orchestral sounds fill the inside of the taxi.
Jacques Snicket is a man of classics, Bertrand thinks.
"Nice trench coat, by the way," Bertrand says.
Jacques smiles, just a little. "I thought so as well. It was my father's."
Bertrand raises an eyebrow. "Mr. Jacob's? It looks quite well-preserved."
"Yeah. I don't think he wore it much." Jacques says. "From the looks of it."
Bertrand suspects this is more just a deduction on Jacques's part - something Jacques's quite good at. Also because the Snickets don't really know that much details about the daily lives of their parents.
"Mmm. I heard that trench coat's back in again," Bertrand says.
"Thought it's about time," Jacques shrugs. "I've been wanting to wear this in public for a while." He puts his hands on the wheel, "So, to the hotel?"
"I was rather hoping to crash at your apartment tonight, actually," Bertrand says.
Jacques looks at him.
And then he smiles. "Of course."
He steps on the accelerator, and off they go.
