But when ur not out and about Liyue's nature with Qiqi,

U do little odd jobs around Liyue, like dog walking, delivering peoples' medicine, and u even registered w/the Adventurer's Guild so u could take on small commissions :D

U used ur money to buy ingredients to cook food for urself and the household (bc Baizhu cant make anything besides soup and tea apparantly srsly how is this man alive)

And thru a series of trial and error (and consulting Xiangling..)

U made coconut milk!!! ✨️🥥🥛

Qiqi loved. It. Every. Time.

She's not tall enough to reach the kitchen counters w/o a stool, but she can peek her little head over it and put her fingers on the edge, which she does everytime u make it 😫😫🥺🥺

I’m not going to stop with the Tired Ice Dads, but I definitely need to start the Fontaine quests before doing more on them lmao. Buuuuuuuut, I have other main teams on my account that I shove together, and after doing the Ice Dads, I started cackling about the crack energy this group would have.

Zhongli just wanted to fucking retire and flirt with Child but that’s besides the point.

He can’t help that his adopted son just does not have a single ounce of self-preservation in his body.

He morally can’t let him go off on his own too much, or else he’d get gray hairs from having to run to his rescue last minute *cough* the chasm *cough*

That and Xiao has been having a lot of issues with his karmic debt lately.

While he doesn’t like Barbatos, Rex Lapis can’t let his last adepti die like his siblings had he can’t fail him like the others, so he could swallow his pride and ask Batbatos to erase Xiao’s karmic debt.

And if he can help Xiao, that's an added bonus.

Or force him into some self care

He’s not exactly in the team yet. He just comes by to check on them every once in a while.

Much to Xiao’s distaste, his dad has been following him around--he’s a very capable adepti, thanks.

He really is, technically, he’s the strongest since Zhongli has to hold back his power now.

But, he secretly likes that Zhongli is looking out for him.

And maaayyybbeeee he enjoys listening to Zhongli talk about random things and lowkey put historians in their place.

Xiao meets Kazuha and Benny by chance tbh.

Kazuha was minding his business, honest, and wandering around the plains of Liyue because the Crux’s crew was taking a break from the sea.

He was lounging on a rock, playing a tune on a leaf, when the wind picked up and told him someone was in danger.

(listen, I don’t know how it works either. He’s just very in tune with nature ig).

So, he couldn’t just ignore the call… and he’s nosey, so sue him if he wanted to know what was up.

Low and behold, it was poor Bennett fighting off a Mantichural.

Look… it wasn’t his fault!!!

How was he supposed to know that climbing up a rock formation (it was more like a mini mountain really) to get a better idea of where he was, because of course he was lost, would end up with him tripping on a mist flower (yes a mist flower), falling off said rock formation, and land him on top of a very pissed Mantichural?!?!?!?!?

He was just trying to go on commissions for the guild!

Benny was handling it pretty okay, but the poor boy was having a rough day and was extremely grateful that Kazuha had come along to help.

Between the two, they were doing pretty solid.

Xiao heard the commotion and came over. It is his duty to make sure the citizens and travelers of Liyue were safe after all.

Both are very impressed and somewhat scared at how fast Xiao defeats the Mantichural.

He takes them to Wangshu Inn, and everyone thought they would part ways after that.

After hearing about Benny’s adventures, Kazuha decides to team up with him because he’s honestly worried about his safety.

Xiao winds up saving them both like five more times before joining them because he’s sick of saving them every hour.

He was headed to Liyue Harbor anyway.

The two are thankful, but his quiet demeanor and straight-to-the-point personality is off-putting.

They finally get to Liyue Harbor and part ways….

Xiao saves Benny from drowning in the harbor and finds a frantic Kazuha about ready to jump in the sea after the kid.

Literally, Xiao was just passing by after meeting with Madam Ping when he saw them.

Soon after that, he winds up saving Benny from choking on food during the diner. Benny and Kazuha invited him to thank him.

He really tried to tell them it wasn’t necessary, but Benny’s dads taught him well, and he’s going to properly thank Xiao.

Fuck, guess Xiao has to look after them now bc this dumbass is going to keep him awake at night.

However the secretary of the adventure guild doesn't want ti .. disband it and break his hear so Benny's adventure team still exists and isn't leaving anytime soon.. and she won't tell him all the.. member... have officially left the team...

Hes a sweetheart though and doesn't let that get him down he's forever an optimist and just loves adventuring and he has a Pyro(fire )vision which he believes were a gift from the gods to show they haven't given up on him despite his bad luck... and he calls all the adventurers in the guild his dads cause they all raised him ... and yeah :')

The first two days after he wakes up Kaeya spends in bed, and the boy sits practically on top of him, introducing him proudly to everyone who comes in and out of the room. Most of the older adventurers are "Dad."

A few aren't, and Kaeya isn't quite sure what makes the difference, except for the only one Bennett introduces with a title in front of his name. Master Cyrus is a friendly, booming presence that Kaeya tries not to shrink from as he claps a hand on Kaeya's shoulder, peering down at him through his monocle.

"Feeling better, kiddo? You looked half-drowned when Meinhard dragged you in here."

"Much better, thank you," Kaeya says. He's not sure whether pretending confidence and trying to look hale and healthy will be more attractive to this man who leads adventurers, or if seeming sickly will win him more sympathy.

"Glad to hear it!" Cyrus smiles at him. "I heard Bennett here has been keeping you warm."

"He has," Kaeya agrees. Cyrus sounds fond when he says that, so clearly Bennett has his approval. Kaeya will have to watch him to see how he appeals to the adults here. In the meantime, seeming admiring of him might work as a strategy--it was what he was supposed to do with the Ragnvindr boy, after all. "He's been very kind."

"That's our Benny," Cyrus says, ruffling Bennett's hair.

The boy beams up at him, bright-eyed and unafraid. "I'm introducing Kaeya to the Guild!"

"I'm sure he appreciates it." Cyrus turns to Kaeya before he can do more to open his mouth to affirm that he does, and his expression grows more serious. "I've heard what Meinhard and his team had to say about finding you, but I'd like to hear more about that straight from the source. You were waiting for your father outside of the Dawn Winery, you said?"

Kaeya looks up at that solemn expression and feels a chill of fear. Friendly as he may be to Bennett, there's no question this is the man in charge. It's on his word that Kaeya will either be kept or tossed out. It's possible the latter could be better for the plan, but Kaeya thinks of being out on his own on the surface again, the cold wind and rain he's seen beating against the windows the past few days and the way it felt on his own skin, and his stomach clenches at the thought. Better to stay with people willing to take care of him and work out how to correct his mistakes from here. Which means he has to please Master Cyrus with his answers.

"I was," he says, doing his best to meet the man's eyes. "He left me by the sign that afternoon and said he was going to buy grape juice, but he spent so long there that it got dark. Then the storm started, and I tried to reach the Winery for shelter, but I must have gone the wrong way."

"You certainly did. If you'd kept going that way, you'd have stumbled into Old Mondstadt, if you hadn't frozen first. You're not from Mondstadt, are you?"

"No, sir. My parents were from Sumeru."

"I thought so! You have the look. Eremites, were they? I've been to Sumeru a few times in my adventures myself."

That sends another cold rush of fear through Kaeya. He tries frantically to dredge up his mother's stories of Sumeru, the sun-soaked desert that had seemed so fantastic and impossible until the day his father had brought him up into the light. So few of them remain.

"I- my mother was, but my father...." Can't be a scholar, not if Master Cyrus has been there. Kaeya tries to remember the places they'd passed through so briefly on their way here, the brief stretches of land between Abyss portals and ancient underground ruins, and finally settles on, in desperation, "My father was a traveling merchant. Mother left the desert to travel with him. We wandered quite a bit, but... I've never had a real home."

He's proud of that line, the way it makes Cyrus look even more solemn and a little sad, even more so the way Bennett's face crumples up and he blurts out, "The Guild can be your home, too!"

"Could it?" Kaeya asks him, looking down, away from Cyrus, and trying his best to look wide-eyed and hopeful and like it's something he desperately wants. It *is* something he wants, after all. A place within Mondstadt.

"We'll see," Master Cyrus says, reaching down to pat them both on the shoulder now. He looks pensive, but not wary or opposed. "The Knights are looking for your father, but what about your mother? Is she still about?"

"No." Kaeya swallows hard, not even having to fake the way he ducks his head. He tries not to think too much about her, or about *that*--he can't, shouldn't, cry for her, and it's hard not to, so better not to run the risk at all. "She's- she's not."

"I'm sorry, kiddo. How long ago was that?"

"Three years." Kaeya isn't entirely certain of that, but he thinks it's right.

"And you've been traveling with your father since? What brought him to Mondstadt?"

"The... Wine-les-fest? He said it was a good business opportunity." Or rather, Kaeya has heard a few of the adventurers keeping vigil in his room mention it, so it's something that happened recently, and it seems to have involved stalls and buying things. A merchant would be interested in that.

Master Cyrus frowns. "That was over two weeks ago. You'd have missed it."

"Oh." Kaeya isn't sure whether that's good or bad for the tale he's spinning. They were supposed to believe his father had left him; his father had told them to let them decide why, but he has no idea what's going on in Cyrus' head. Whether what he's saying sounds like a lie, and whether adding more details will make it more convincing or reveal it as false. He hesitates to say anything at all.

"I'm sure he found that out when he stopped in at the Dawn Winery. They make a quarter of their profits during the Weinlesefest." Master Cyrus' frown deepens. "How long were you waiting for him?"

"A few hours."

"And you didn't go looking for him?"

"I thought... the winery was a business, and maybe he was making a deal. That's why he came. He... really wanted to make good deals here. I was afraid of messing that up."

"Did he.... How was trade going for him, do you know?"

Master Cyrus' voice is starting to go gentle, and while he still looks solemn, it's more pitying than suspicious. Kaeya swallows down the urge to bristle against that pity. It's valuable to the role he's trying to play.

"He wouldn't tell me, but... I don't think it was going well. We hadn't been sleeping in inns, and he was doing a lot of hunting."

"Ah. So he came here for the Weinlesefest, found out he'd arrived too late, and...." Master Cyrus trails off. "The Knights will keep looking, and I'll keep that description you gave Liam tacked on the board and make sure everyone in the Guild keeps an eye out."

"Thank you, sir." Kaeya looks up at him, trying to let a little of his worry show on his face without exposing the depth of the fear eating at him--the twin terrors of ruining the plan further, or of having to survive on the surface on his own. "Mister Meinhard said that if no one finds him, I could stay here?"

"Of course," Master Cyrus says. "Bennett's right. Unless- *until* your father pops back up, there's no reason the Guild can't be your home."

"You can share my room!" Bennett grabs his arm, grinning at him. "And my dads! They're all great. And once they find your dad, he can come and be an adventurer too!"

"Thank you," Kaeya says again, smiling down at Bennett and watching out of the corner of his eye as Master Cyrus smiles, too Only then does he let himself relax, just a little. Bennett is obviously the key to the Guild. Now that knows that, he can start figuring out how to fit in himself.

Gang tickles happen a lot because this team is fun and everyone is on the receiving end. Heizou and Xingqiu because they're both smug bastards, Xiangling because she's the squirmiest and most likely to freak out, and Benny when he's sulking because of his bad luck

Okay, so I don't think Xingqiu would know everyone's tickle spots, but he's pretty good at guessing and keeps them in his back pocket for times that are necessary Heizou doesn't know either, but he's the type of person that will pin down his lee and go over each spot and rank them outloud for everyone to hear

I feel like they'd all know each other pretty well to have everyone's spots down. Xingqiu and Xiangling were friends before joining the team, so maybe Xingqiu knows that Xiangling has ticklish hands? Like, I think she would have burned herself enough while cooking, but only the undersides, so she kinda killed her nerve endings there, but the tops of her hands are still fair game

This one was hard because I feel like they'd all be evenly matched, but it's a toss-up because they're both skilled in some form of martial arts. I think I'm going to give this to Heizou because he gives me the vibe that he has endless energy and doesn't like giving up

Heizou and Xingqiu! They're both very smug and are constantly trying to outsass each other and Xingqiu is always able to one-up Heizou and it frustrates him to no end, so whenever he loses, he usually resorts to tackling Xingqiu and tickling him. I see a friendly rivalry going on here Heizou and Benny! Heizou is the type of person to pull pranks on Benny all the time. He'd be like, "Bennett, can you help me reach the thing on the top shelf? :)" and Benny would be like "ya sure" and it just slips his mind that Heizou is an anemo user and can just jump to grab whatever until it's too late and realizes he was bamboozled again when he feels fingers tickling his ribs

Family & Benny’s Loneliness.

They say it takes a village and it’s exactly that in Bennett’s case. Raised by a number of old adventurers from the Guild without families, the village made him one of their own. But these folks were adventurers first and fathers second - most of them barely knew a thing about parenting, even less about parenting a child with as many mishaps as followed Benny around. Nowadays these adventurers are aged, and some even retired and Benny looks after them the best he can. But things are…complicated for sure.

Don’t get it wrong - Benny absolutely loves his dads. But sometimes the “village” can be kind of lonely. His dads are adventurers who didn’t want families and sometimes they’re not the best at FEELINGS. And sometimes, though he doesn’t voice it, he feels like his love is very one-sided. Perhaps simply a thought of the depression he desperately hides away, Benny has become afraid that his dads simply ‘put up with him’; that they feel beholden to him due to the sacrifice of the old adventurer that saved him. And that thought terrorizes him at times.

And in equal turn, Benny feels like he cannot say no to any requests made of him by people that hang around him, particularly his dads. He HAS to make up for how his unluckiness affects others. Due to these thoughts and his difficulty making friends in the first place, Benny suffers from intense loneliness that gets worse the older he gets. He struggles to open up to people about these thoughts too, refusing to burden anyone with his problems lest they find MORE reason to avoid him. And if he says it out loud, he worries that it makes it true.

-Razor is Bennett’s “lupical” boyfriend though he finds Razor’s form of affection a little gross sometimes. He just doesn’t want his cheek licked out of nowhere. Especially not when he’s sweaty from fighting

-Bennett often travels to Wolvendom to hang out with Razor since Razor’s not a big fan of the crowds of Mondstadt

-Bennett met Andrius through some misfortune of tripping into his arena due to a loose rock. Andrius merely stepped out of the fog, sensing the child and remembering Razor’s talks about him. Bennett almost passed out from fear when Andrius gently nudged him with his wet nose

-Bennett, Fischl, and Razor get caught in a bad thunderstorm and have to stay at the winery. For night clothes, The kids were given Diluc and Kaeya’s old clothes

-Bennett soon started to talk like Fischl, pretending to be a noble but also doing silly poses while doing so

-Through some adventuring around the mansion, Bennett found some wooden weapons and challenged Fischl to a duel for last pastry. “Fischl von Luftschloss Nafidort, Prizessin ver Verurteilung! I, Bennett of the Adventures Guild, challenge thee to a duel for the last pastry!” The young adventurer proclaimed loudly, holding a wooden sword his friend’s way. He tosses her another wooden sword her way

-The investigator hums, setting the last pastry down and smirking. “If that is your wish, then so be it. I, Fischl, Prizessin ver Verurteilung, accept your challenge! Let us clash swords and see who stands victorious!” She calls out, holding her weapon out to Bennett, both having moved to a more open area where they wouldn’t break something

-Diluc comes out of his study/bedroom, having just finished his bath. He silently but hurriedly makes his way to the balcony of his staircase when he heard familiar light thwacking. Below, he finds Fischl and Bennett play fighting with the old practice weapons he and Kaeya trained with

-Diluc looks a bit to the side, spotting Razor picking up the last sweet pastry off a plate before picking up a wooden claymore, holding the pastry in his mouth

-Razor swings his weapon around a bit to test its weight before rushing to his friends who had their swords clashed. The teen lets out a growl and swings his weapon down on their wooden blades, both Fischl and Bennett losing their footing on the wooden floors

-“Ack!” Bennett cried out, falling face first but catching himself. He lets out a wheeze when Fischl fell on top of him. The blonde winced and sat up, gasping and huffing when she saw Razor had the last pastry. “Ah! Wha- seriously Razor! Ah-uh… ugh nevermind” she pouted, crossing her arms as Razor joined his friends on the floor

-Diluc couldn’t help but smile warmly at that, finally making his presence known by stepping on a creaky step

-Bennett really looks up to Calvary Captain Kaeya and kept calling him “Captain Kaeya” even after Kaeya insisted to just drop the title. It took a while for Bennett to drop the title but occasionally calls him “Mister Kaeya”

-He can’t help but wonder how Kaeya teleports on the last attack. Because of this Kaeya told him to charge forward for his last attack because Kaeya often teleported behind the enemy

-Kaeya jokingly asks Bennett that he should add more dance moves to his attack when he first witnessed Bennett do a little spin for his last attack

— Razor —

-Bunny is Razor’s lupical mate. Yes, very much so!

-He’s gone on many adventures/commissions with Benny and has become rather protective of him whenever one of “Benny’s” friends approaches. The only one he trusts is Fischl and Oz

-Razor thinks highly of Master Diluc since the adult actively takes time out of his day to train his muscles and greatsword use

-Razor attempted to call Diluc “Dad” after Kenya’s suggestion because Diluc’s full title was too long. Diluc thought about it before growing red with embarrassment and just letting Razor call him “Diluc”

-When Diluc was in the kitchen, Razor sniffed Diluc’s experimental wolfhook juice and just downed it just as Diluc entered the room

-“Razor,” Diluc scolded, pinching Razor’s cheek lightly and giving it a small tug. The wolf teen whined, holding the cup in his hands. “Juice taste good”

-Diluc sighs softly and lets go of Razor’s cheek, flicking the teen’s head. “Could’ve just asked for your own cup… at least you like it though that should be expected”

-Diluc walks off to the kitchen and returns with a bottle, filling his cup and giving it to Razor. The teen takes the cup eagerly and lifts it to his lips, sensing Diluc staring. The adult raises an eyebrow at him, waiting for something from him. “Um…” Razor thinks for a moment before it finally registered. “Thank you!” He says and drinks the juice. Master Diluc smiles slightly and sits down to finish his meal

-The young wolf boy is rather fond of Kaeya’s specialty, finding it juicy and full of flavor he can’t describe

-Razor likes hugging Captain Kaeya’s weird shoulder boa because it reminds him of his lupical back in Wolvendom

— Diluc —

-He’s heard of Bennett through the drunks and adventuring “mates”

-He’s not too happy about how many people see the kid as an unlucky magnet and goes out of his way to make sure that Bennett understands that it’s never his fault if anything goes wrong at the Winery

-Diluc has also heard many things through Razor whining about missing Benny during his training sessions. Bennett was dragged off to Liyue and then a far away land called Inazuma

-Diluc doesn’t mind, Razor only ever said good things about Benny aside from not being able to eat because Bennett talked a lot

-Diluc got rather embarrassed when Razor wanted to call him dad. Unfortunately, he declined Razor’s request and just said to call him “Diluc” though his heart did flips at the idea

-Diluc, along with Miss Lisa, style Razor’s hair occasionally so it doesn’t get knots or split ends. Diluc’s go-to for Razor is a simple braid, tied with a bow. Lisa’s go-to is her own hairstyle and ties it off with a cute purple rose

-Lisa often kisses Razor’s forehead after styling his hair and the teen grumpily brings it up to Diluc when the adult didn’t do it after styling his hair

-Diluc is still very much healing from that day but he wishes his and Kaeya’s relationship wasn’t so strained but he’s just not ready. Not to mention, he’s a little nervous to be so vulnerable

— Kaeya —

-Kaeya is Bennett’s master. And by master, I mean, he helps Bennett train with his sword. He even calls Bennett his “Little Protégé”

-Kaeya has many names for his protege such as “Fire Aster” “Pyronado” “Good Luck Charm” “Bunny Foot”

-Kaeya has to suppress his laughter whenever Bennett comes to complain about Razor having weird ways of showing affection. When he first spotted a hickey, Bennett was quick to blush and explain the situation of how he got it. It wasn’t anything weird! That’s what Bennett told him

-He’s aware and fully believes Bennett but he can’t help but tease the kid

-Kaeya uses Bennett as an arm rest and Bennett doesn’t mind because the kid’s love language is physical contact. Benny appreciates any form of affection. He’s touch starved

-Kaeya’s well-informed on the wolf child through Miss Lisa. He’s aware of how much Razor hates his reading and writing lessons

-He finds the wolf-boy nice to be around, having heard a lot from his talkative protege. He’s quite interested in seeing this Wolvenspirit that Bennett speaks highly about

-Razor is Kaeya’s secondary arm rest

Bennett: Affection HCs

Bennett has so much love and affection to share but he’s also so shy and awkward in his delivery. It’s so endearing that you can’t help but but try and stifle your giggles lest he get more embarrassed. He just get’s so nervous since this is his first relationship and he knows his track record on luck isn’t super bright so he’s always fumbling. Trying to force his nerves away when he wants to hold your hand but as soon as he reaches out to lace your fingers, you’ll turn around, and Bennett throws his arm back so hard that he accidently pops his shoulder out of his socket. While you’re fretting over him he’s trying to reassure you that he’s completely fine and that this happens all the time. Which isn’t very comforting, he thinks things could have been worse. What if he accidently slips and drags you down with him or even worse, his pyro vision acts up and he has sweaty hands? He’s screaming internally at that.

Bennett totally reads romance novels to get a better understanding on what a relationship is like but his execution is a bit questionable. He tries to be suave and attempts to wrap his arm around your shoulder but he accidently slips halfway and he’s fallen into the fountain. But when he hears your barely contained chuckles as you try and help him out, he can’t help but feel a flutter in his chest that he doesn’t mind the unlucky accidents that happen to him if it makes you laugh. He’ll shake the water out of his hair and grin at you before he takes your hand in his and you both go back to the church to dry him off.

Whenever he sees you he has to take a couple minutes to calm his heart. Even when he’s out with Fischl and she’s talking in her special way, as soon as he catches sight of you, he’s sighing in adoration with the love-sick puppy eyes. That’s when Fischl knows she’s completely lost Bennett and you’re probably behind her. She sighs out a bit exasperated as she shrugs before she’s dragging him to meet up with you. No matter how red Bennett gets or what he’s yelling, Fischl has a death grip on him and grins smugly before she calls out your name to let you know someone’s got heart eyes for you.

While he’s extremely grateful to the Adventures guild and Mondstadt, having you beside him really hits deep. That you accept and love him despite the unlucky streak he has. You are so special in his eyes and the fact you choose to stay with him makes him sniffle a bit. Somedays he wakes up and can’t help but feel the rush of happiness he feels just being able to see your smiling face. He might get poked fun from his Dads but it’s completely worth it. It’s actually really wholesome when Bennett wants to introduce you to his family since they already know plenty about you because Bennett will literally not shut up about you.

The praise he receives from his dads and Katherine make him grin happily but when you praise him, he ends up growing so shy and pink. Awkwardly scratching at his cheek as he says it wasn’t that big of a deal just because he wants to hear you praise him more. He’s pretty hard on himself so your words really mean a lot to him. Likewise, Bennett is super optimistic. He’s your #1 cheerleader and it’s contagious adopting his positivity outlook on life. Whatever you’re interested in or wish to do, he’s fully on board and supportive.

He’s always coming back from his adventures with scraps and cuts that it really concerns you when Bennett shakes his pain away. He’s always had a head-first battle tactic that’s not easy to change in one day, so instead you ask Barbara to teach your some healing abilities or tips to try and help him out a bit. While you’re a bit clumsy and not as well-versed as Barbara. Bennett still hugs you with so much force as he exclaims he’s never felt so empowered before.

When Bennett feels sad, he’ll lean his shoulder against yours and close his eyes. Slowly moving down until it’s his head against your arm. He stays there before you reach over and place his head in your lap and slowly run your fingers through his hair. It’s a small and ordinary moment but it means the whole world to Bennett.

Bennett always keeps whatever you give him in a special pouch, from a small slip of paper wishing him luck to the small four leaf clover you gave him, it’s always on him whenever he sets out. He knows that despite his best wishes, you can’t spent every waking moment together and he doesn’t want to endanger you with his bad luck on more dangerous expeditions. He actually full on bawled when you said you wanted to join the "Benny's Adventure Team" and actually stuck around even after all the unfortunate incidents that happened. But whenever he’s far away from Mondstadt, away from you, he’ll take a small break and go through the small trinkets you’ve given to him with the softest smile as he handles them with care. They are his treasures after all.

It’s been a rather challenging adventure today. Bennett and you took on a commission to investigate a hilichurl camp on Starsnatch cliff only to run across an Eye of the Storm instead. While you both managed to defeat it, you both got your fair share of cuts from the anemo winds and the hard ground when you had to dive away from the orb crashing down. You’re silently thanking yourself for taking those lessons from Barbara as you’re trying to patch him up. 

“Sorry, I didn’t expect an Eye of Storm to appear instead. I guess my bad luck is spreading again,” Bennett chuckles awkwardly to himself as he winces a tiny bit at the throb of his cuts. You simply shake it off as you try and gently place the cloth back on his cheek to wipe away the small amount of blood. You’re just happy that you both managed to get away from that monster without any serious injuries. 

“Don’t say that Bennett, we defeated it didn’t we? That’s one less problem for the Adventures guild right?” you say as you smile encouragingly at him. He nods in silent agreement but his eyes rake over the cuts and on arms and knees and he can’t help feel sadden. He gently pushes your hands away from his injury's as he opens his own pouch that carries his adhesive bandages to place upon your scrapes.

“Bennett?” you question. You’re so used to the happy go lucky Bennett that this sudden quiet atmosphere looms above you as Bennett quickly returns the favour. It’s only when he takes a small moment to scan your body for anything he missed before he takes your hands in his. Rubbing small circles over your skin, whether he’s trying to comfort you or himself into speaking you’re not entirely sure. 

“There’s a dream I want to tell you about. I want to find the most valuable treasure to give back to Mondstadt and get our Adventures guild to become the biggest branch in Teyvat. That way my Dad’s can take a break and we can go adventuring all over the world. We can go visit Fischl at her home or take Razor to see the ocean!” he grins happily at you as his eyes light up in such a way that it takes you a few moments to register what he’s saying. You can feel such a rush of love pour into your system at his wholesome dream that you can’t help but clutch his hands closer to yourself. 

“I’ll stay beside you the entire time and I promise we’ll make your dream a reality. Benny's Adventure Team will be the greatest adventure team there ever was,” you lean forward and boop your nose against his, “But you need to take better care of yourself first mister.”

“Now come on. Let’s go home together Bennett,” you smile down at him as you stand up and extend your hand out to him. It takes a few moments for Bennett to act as he gazes up at you. The hand that’s been placed in front of him as support in so many of his unlucky incidents, covered in the bandages he carries around from the family he cares about, the hand that is still there after everything. Bennet knows he’s always been unlucky. That’s just the way it is. He’s always running on what drops of luck he can grab and live life to the fullest but right now. Even with the dull stings of anemo winds on his cheeks, the throb of new bruises he’s probably developing, he reaches out and takes your hand. He’s never felt luckier in his entire life.

There’s a bakery opposite of Angel’s Share, just across the cobblestone road, and every morning the smell of freshly baked bread wafts from its open double doors, ready to welcome patrons and the crisp air of the early hours. Bennett has easily fallen into the routine of making this his first stop of the day. When he wakes, eyes slow to open and greeted by little squares of light on the ceiling of his bedroom from the sunlight shining through the window, he swears he can already smell that bread and the pastries and the care put into each one. He doesn’t often find it in him to be lazy, to be sluggish this early, for a new day was a new promise of adventure, and whether he’s swept along by the wind to the wilds or to the bakery, it’s an adventure all the same.

He always picks out food for his dads. He considers carefully what they might like to have (some prefer to have the same each time, others don’t mind the variety and like to be surprised), and carefully, slowly he fills the tray. Usually it isn’t busy during the time he’s there, but he doesn’t want to take risks as he holds it securely with both hands whenever he’s perusing the selection. Even if there were no people to bump into, with his luck, he might bump into one of the displays in the middle of the shop instead, consequence of paying more attention to the shelves against the wall where there are loaves baked into fun shapes like fish or crabs, rather than to what’s in front of him. He’d hate to drop everything on his tray and waste it.

Sometimes the bakery keeps the doors closed, and while uncommon, it’s nothing unusual. On these occasions, the entry of each customer is announced by the small bell jingling just overhead. It’s the only sound in the shop, ringing several times in the past ten minutes but it’s mere background noise, easily ignored, as Bennett absorbs himself in choosing what to buy today.

“Good morning!”

Bennett’s hand freezes just above a loaf of bread that looks like a bear and he glances behind him to the counter because the sound of your bubbly voice, conversely, is much more difficult to ignore. Though to be fair, to him, you’re no mere background noise.

You’re carrying a basket of more loaves just taken from the oven, half of them regularly shaped into circles and the other half like turtles, and grin at the customers who have just walked in. He watches you make your way over to a shelf several feet away from him to arrange the bread, and he stares long enough that you’ve taken notice. Your smile is bright and reaches your eyes, and he’s embarrassed to have been caught. His cheeks grow warm and you can probably see the dusting of red across his face, a speculation which doesn’t help alleviate this embarrassment one bit.

“Good morning, Bennett,” you greet him, more quietly since he’s closer.

He likes when you say his name, and it never fails to make his heart skip a beat and he stutters out an O-Oh, um… as if surprised that you’re talking to him, much less that you know who he is. It shouldn’t take him off guard that you know, considering how often he comes to the bakery, so he supposes it has more to do with the fact that he can’t believe his name should be spoken by a voice as gentle as yours, honeyed tones like the softly plucked notes of the Holy Lyre der Himmel.

Finally he musters an equally quiet Good morning in response, smiling back but he’s certain it looks more like a cringe, owed to his nerves. If it does, you don’t point it out, and simply return to your task. Only when another patron comes up to Bennett’s other side, muttering a pardon as they grab a loaf from the shelf he’s standing in front of, does he break his gaze from you. His hand that had been hovering above the bread that whole time he drops back down to his side, and he scoots to make room with another stutter and a sorry.

You’re back behind the counter when Bennett is ready to pay. The pile of bread, cake slices, sandwiches, and other miscellaneous pastries had in the past led you to ask him if these were snacks for the road, for you’d guessed him to be an adventurer doing commissions for the guild by the sword at his side. He’d chuckled and explained his actual purpose for buying as much as he did, and your grin had widened, and if he wasn’t imagining things, you’d been extra careful when packing every treat.

I’m sure they’ll really appreciate your gesture, you’d said. That’s sweet of you. And it’s not frequently that events in the course of his life run smoothly, but that day they had, and with no falter in his words he remarks it’s thanks to you, for you’re the reason there’s anything to bring back to his dads in the first place. You’d laughed and his chest tightened and he thinks that’s the point where he started to fall (to where, he hesitated to state exactly). But in any case, it was true—without you, there was no bakery filled to the brim with delicious food, and if he had anything to say about that, Mondstadt would be worse off for it.

This morning, Bennett is digging around his wallet for the appropriate amount of Mora while you pack what he’d picked out. Having gone through this process many times prior, he knows approximately how much it should cost.

“Ah—”

A few coins slip from his hand and clatter to the wooden floor, and he bends to pick them up. But on the way down, his head knocks into the tray that he neglected to push all the way onto the countertop, so part of it still stuck out. You blink in surprise at the jostling of the tray and his subsequent Ouch!, muffled because he’s obscured by the counter.

“Are you okay?” You sound genuinely worried, but to Bennett the accident had been no big deal. At least none of the food had fallen.

“Yeah,” he assures you. He’s still trying to gather up the stray Mora, fingers failing to get a proper grip on them and he huffs in slight exasperation. His face once more is burning from the embarrassment of being so clumsy. He’s clumsy around everyone, and it’s something he has long since come to accept, but it matters a lot more when it’s you.

Finally he stands back up, the money clutched in his fist victoriously. “Yeah!” he repeats now that you can hear him clearly. “It’s no big deal.”

For a second you don’t quite believe him, but it’s hard to argue with that smile on his face. There’s no pain he’s trying to hide (embarrassment, on the other hand, is a different issue entirely).

Upon handing him his package you tell him you’ll see him tomorrow and he feels sort of special because you don’t say it to anyone else. To others, you say Thank you, come again! but you know his routine and you know to expect him at the same time each morning. Judging by the look in your eyes and the sound of your voice when you see and greet him, you anticipate his visit every time, and his heart wants to soar out from the confines of his chest upon this realization and he is exhilarated. The wind and the new day have fulfilled their promise of an adventure, and the clock hasn’t even struck noon.

One day you’re a little distracted, focused on a paper in your hand as Bennett approaches the counter with his tray of baked goods. For the most part, your face gives nothing away, but then your brows furrow slightly, a subtle action he doesn’t miss, and he proceeds to ask if anything is wrong. He asks it kindly, keeps his tone neutral, wordlessly conveying that you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. He would hate to pry.

You purse your lips, pausing like you’re caught between saying yes and no. He waits patiently for whichever one it might be.

“I ran out of sugar and had been meaning to make more,” you start, opting to share with him what’s been troubling you.“I bought out Flora’s stock of sweet flowers but it wasn’t enough, so I may have to set aside time to pick more myself later.”

The mention of heading outside of the city makes Bennett perk up, for he never turns down a chance to go exploring. He’s about to offer to do it for you, but it’s the thought of possibly going with you instead that makes him hold back and rephrase his question.

“This afternoon?” he inquires, head tilting. You nod, and up until now he’d felt confident in the offer he was going to present, but then his nerves get the better of him and it doesn’t come out quite the way he was hoping. “I-I could go with you! You know, if you want! To protect you… Just in case…” He trails off and he wants to go hide in a hole. There are few other ways this could have gone worse.

You don’t answer right away, and he regrets having said anything at all, but your beautiful smile soon follows the silence and it sets his mind at ease, and you agree with a concise and cheery Sure! Well, at least the worst way this could have gone had not come to pass. It was the small victories for Bennett—just as important as the big ones. The next challenge would be to avoid making a fool of himself out there, in what should be his natural element; he does want to impress you. But that’s a big ask for someone like him…

Both of you agree to meet at the front gate in the late afternoon. By then, the traffic in the bakery is slow enough that you’re able to step away earlier than the normal closing time. You’ve changed into clothes more appropriate for walking around: in lieu of a dress, your typical work attire, you sport a tunic and trousers you don’t mind dirtying. The trousers are tailored to fit properly but the tunic is a tad big, the sleeves a bit too long, but Bennett thinks you look cute in it. A basket hangs on your forearm and you wave as you walk up to him.

“I hope you haven’t been waiting too long,” you say.

Bennett shakes his head. “Not long at all.” Technically the agreed upon meeting time was only five minutes ago, so you aren’t very late. Though he does refrain from sharing that he’d arrived early, in fear that he could end up late somehow and you would be the one who had to wait. Really, it’s been more like fifteen minutes for him, but he just keeps quiet about that.

One of the nice things about summer is that the sun sets later. There’s still a sufficient amount of light to illuminate the fields as you walk around in search of sweet flowers. At first, the extent of your conversation is discussing where you might be able to find a high concentration of them, then silence filled with the sifting of grass beneath your shoes and the occasional exclamation of having spotted a flower to be picked and tucked away in your basket.

Honestly, walking with you around the wilds of Mondstadt hadn’t been anywhere on Bennett’s list to do today, or any day really, not until he could muster the courage to invite you out like this, and who knew when that might be. Your need for sweet flowers had dropped the opportunity right into his lap, and thankfully he hadn’t squandered it. But now he’s at a loss as to what to talk about; he didn’t think he’d ever get this far.

Maybe you sense his struggle to come up with a topic of conversation because you’re the one to speak up, asking about his adventures and the commissions he takes. Done anything exciting recently?

Bennett’s eyes light up, a reaction which you can't help but smile at, and he regales you of the goings-on of his latest missions. He omits the instances where his clumsiness had made things more difficult (of which there were many), but each story is still truthful. Most of his commissions the past month hadn’t been anything too bold—after a mission that involved nearly getting himself trapped in a ruin due to solving a puzzle wrong then getting food poisoning on top of that from the snack he’d prepped that day, he’s been choosing jobs that he knows he’s more capable of.

To him, they aren’t too exciting, and in the larger scope of things, perhaps they aren’t, but you don’t seem to think that as you hang on each word. You’re absorbed in his story about trying to dismantle towers in a hilichurl camp, and gasp at the mention of their reinforcements coming to attack in the midst of it. Wow, you remark after he finishes his recounting of the event. You’re amazing, Bennett!

His heart does a flip again at the sound of his name and he shrugs offhandedly. He’s not inclined to think so, but your awed comment is sincere and has him reconsidering: yeah, that was pretty cool of him, wasn’t it? For all his clumsiness, he doesn’t often see the feats for what they are, accompanied by blunders or not, but you’re the fresh perspective he’d been missing, and he wishes you’d stepped into his life sooner.

The entirety of your outing together has thus far been free of any monsters, but as soon as Bennett makes this observation it’s like the universe has heard: hydro slimes suddenly pop out from the ground, halting you in your tracks. You squeak in surprise and Bennett is quick to shift into a fighting stance, knees slightly bent and one arm out in front of you protectively.

“Just stay there!” he instructs before drawing his sword and rushing forward.

Luckily there aren’t many slimes to fight off, and they aren’t very big. His sword cuts through them easily, cleanly. They burst and spray water upon being sliced apart, so at the end, when they’re all dead, the only evidence they had been there to begin with is the slight dampness to his clothes and the squish of dirt turned to mud. With a sigh of triumph, Bennett resumes a relaxed stance, then sheathes his weapon and turns to you.

As instructed, you’ve stayed in place, but it seems to have been more out of being frozen in fear than anything else. You’re clutching your basket close, and once the slimes are gone, you follow Bennett’s lead and relax, shoulders releasing the tension they had been filled with for the duration of that fight. You let out a deep exhale of relief, hand placed over your heart which has yet to slow back down to its normal pace.

“Thank you.”

Bennett flashes a toothy grin and waves his hand as if to say It’s not a problem. “That’s what I’m here for isn’t it?”

You smile back. “I’m glad we went together.”

Together. He likes the sound of that. He thinks to himself that he’d go with you to other places too; you need only to give the word. To the edge of this world, and through a portal to the next? He’d meet you by the front gate at dawn.

He’s surprised that the encounter with those slimes had gone as smoothly as it had. It isn’t uncommon for him to get hit a few times, bruises quick to form on his arms or his legs. And it’s quite the run of luck, of which he’s ordinarily in short supply, that he should get through a fight with nary a scratch on him while with you. His efforts to impress are actually succeeding.

However, this is another case of speaking too soon, because he starts to walk back to you, but then his foot gets caught on a rock concealed by the tall grass, and he tumbles to the ground.

“Oof!”

His chest collides with the earth as he lands with a thud and the breath is stolen from his lungs. You gasp and close the gap between you, and in viewing you in his peripherals, he notes that you are much more graceful at it.

“Are you all right?”

Bracing his hands on the dirt, small bits of rock digging into his palms, Bennett pushes himself up to sit on his knees. “Yeah, I’m okay!” Here he thought he had handled himself perfectly well, but then just like that, his clumsiness returned, and once more before you he is awkward, blundering Bennett.

Unlike the incident at the bakery when he’d bumped his head into the tray, this fall had actually hurt, and he can’t hide it successfully, a slight wince of pain crossing his face in spite of his smile. Even if you hadn’t caught on to that, the injuries elsewhere on his body give it away completely.

“Your arms are all scraped up…” After Bennett stands back up, you gingerly take hold of his forearm and angle it to examine the scrapes there, thin red lines from tiny stones tearing the skin.

Your grip is light, like you’re scared to injure him further, and Bennett is thankful for the darkness that is setting in as the sun disappears and the moon begins its trek across the sky, for it conceals the way his cheeks redden to be this close to you, to be touched by you. The concern in your gaze as you look at his arm makes his chest squeeze but not in the good way, and he bends his knees slightly to duck into your line of view.

“Don’t worry! I’m fine.” And it’s true. He’s sustained worse, though he steers clear of sharing this part. He doesn’t like to see you worried.

He straightens up when you finally meet his eyes and dons his smile again, easy and reassuring. It seems to convince you, as you nod and let go. He drops his arm back down to his side but he’s already missing the feather-light sensation of your fingertips. Successfully reassured, your smile also returns, replacing the thin line of worry that your lips had previously been set in.

It’s dark now but the air is still warm, a consequence of the season. In the daytime the heat is more extreme, made even more so by the fire curling from the edge of his sword. At the conclusion of whatever commission he has taken, he’s left sweating, satisfied but exhausted. Missions in the summer are more difficult to get through, the sun beating down with little mercy and its heat lingering into the night, but he thinks that if he were to have you there with him, he’d hardly notice.

Your delicate gaze is the cool ocean breeze and your soft smile the deluge of waves washing over him, a force he receives gladly because he is falling into you, deeper into the expanse of your heart. He’s diving into the sea, the unbearable heat of summer long forgotten as he makes his way to the bottom. What he hopes to find he isn’t sure, but he’d be content to remain there forever, consumed by you and all the love you have to offer.

“Okay?” he asks, voice soft. You had nodded but he also wants verbal confirmation that you won’t burden yourself with worry anymore.

You catch on to his own need for reassurance, and he wants to sink into the refreshing fondness of your eyes as you watch him. “Okay.”

The moon up above illuminates your face, and he wants to run his fingers along all the parts it touches: the line of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, the cupid’s bow of your lips. He yearns to be closer to you than that moonlight adorning your skin, and maybe it’s strange that he should be envious of it, of that light which has the privilege to hold you so near, but the feelings he has for you are what’s written about in books, and in those stories, people do tend to do strange things.

In the morning, he stops by the bakery as usual but this time is surprised when you set a cake down alongside the other baked goods he buys. You answer his question before he can voice it.

“For yesterday,” you state simply. “For my hero.”

Your—?

“I think ‘hero’ is too strong a word for it,” Bennett replies, chuckling quietly and rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. After all, they had just been slimes.

You hum noncommittally, corner of your mouth lifted in a grin. “Maybe, but yesterday you were mine. So please take this as thanks.”

He’d like to be yours every day, and the thought of how nice that would be makes his whole world just a little brighter, like the crystal butterflies fluttering around him in the wild on the warm summer nights; and he hopes that the next adventure the wind guides him on leads straight back to you.

Mentor Kaeya headcanons because I keep seeing the ‘Kaeya taught Bennett to hold a sword! They have the same fighting style!’ theory and I love it :’)

Bennett wants to be a successful adventurer! And what does an adventurer need to do? They need to be able to find treasure! And protect themselves from others who may want to steal that treasure

Bennett is always looking for strong, male influences in his life. He strives to be strong, cool and confident one day! His dads all have such amazing stories from their ‘good ol’ days’ as young adventurers! They tell tales of fighting off treasure hoarders or outrunning ruin guards! Oh wow! Of course Bennett looks up to these guys! He wants to be just like them!

He looks up to the knights too though he tends to keep his distance since he spreads bad luck wherever he goes....poor thing

Bennett likes to sit and watch from afar during knights training! The captains take newbies out to Mondstadt’s open land in order to train away from everyday citizens! Bennett likes to take notes and imitate their fighting styles...again, from afar

But Kaeya is super observant. Of course he notices Bennett. In fact, he slows training down a little so the boy can see step by step what the knights are doing. Bennett doesn’t know that though. Kaeya cant help but come to like Bennett, the kid sure is persistent. Rain or shine, warm or cold, Benny is out there watching the knights train whenever he can, jumping around and swinging his sword as he learns along with everyone else

After awhile it becomes apparent that Bennett is no longer following what the training captain does...He’s solely focused on Kaeya now. He just thinks he’s cool

So one day, Kaeya stops by the adventurer’s guild headquarters to see Bennett!! ‘Well well well, if it isn’t my little copycat!’ Bennett is so so embarrassed!!! He really though he was being discreet lmao

Kaeya is actually more than happy to train him! He sees Bennett’s potential for sure. Kaeya was somewhat of a string bean as a kid. He was quiet, not always confident in his actions, hell sometimes he’d make Diluc talk for him! That was long ago...

Bennett is the opposite of Kaeya’s younger self. He’s strong, energetic and again, persistent!

Kaeya really thinks Bennett is a special kid. So he decides to set aside a few hours every Monday and Wednesday to train him. The two go around the wall outside of Mondstadt to practice on the grass out there

Bennett is so grateful that Kaeya is so patient! Many of their training sessions have been interrupted by rain (even a hail storm once...jeez louise!!!) and they’ve had unfortunate encounters with swords randomly breaking or equipment getting lost. But Bennett’s bad luck has yet to drive Captain Kaeya away!!

‘Rain again? Oh well, looks like we just have to make sure not to slip in the mud’ ‘sorry Captain Kaeya...It’s my fault, I always bring rain with me everywhere’ ‘It’s no big deal at all! Cryo works far better in the rain anyway! Try to keep up, kiddo!’

Bennett really looks up to Kaeya. He goes to him with personal problems that he can’t quite figure out himself, he high-fives him in the street when they cross paths, he cheers him on from the sidelines when he happens to see the knights out on duty. Kaeya is the same way, he views Bennett as a little brother :’) he always waves hello when he sees him, he’ll sneak a bit of treasure to him and once he’s old enough for it, Kaeya will even have a special sword made for Benny :)

‘That guy? You haven’t met him yet? Aw man, that’s Captain Kaeya! You’re gonna love him, traveler! He’s so cool!’

‘Bennett? Yes I know him. He’s a great kid, I’m glad I have the opportunity to train someone like him. He’ll grow up to be a famous adventurer, I just know it. Though if he ever writes a book about his adventures, he better give me some credit~’

bennett and razor just not knowing when a story is too outlandish so they believe all of fischl’s stories. they’re really eager to hear her tales and it makes her happy to see people actually listen to what she’s passionate about.

If I may... all of those big/baby sister Darling made me think... a Darling who is Bennett's big sister. It would play all the same: he's found out by the adventurer and raised by them but with the addition of his big sister.

When the adventurer went out in search for riches that day, he wasn't expecting to find two children in amid a disaster. The older of the two, a female, holding a bundle of cloth to her chest as if her life depended on it. Her form jumps at every strike of lighting near her, but surprisingly, even with all of the deadly elements colliding with each others, none of them dared to touch her.

After saving the girl, the adventurer discovers that the bundle in her arms is her baby brother, just a couple of months old. He ask her where are her parents, but she just gives him a wide, blank stare. He could obviously not leave them to their luck, so he takes them back to Monstadt, hopefully they will find the siblings parents in no time.

Obviously, they didn't lol so the only sensible choice is raising them themselves.

The sister with time will join the adventurer's guild, but not for the desire of adventure, but to earn enough money for her and her little brother so they don't have to leech of the aging adventurers. Which proves to be not so hard, since she's the completely opposite to her sibling in terms of luck: all of the chests she finds are full to the brim with mora and artifacts, stores always seem to have a discount whenever she has to buy groceries, if it is raining and she's in a pickle, the enemies will slip and die in a really stupid way, etc etc.

She's so damn lucky, that she actually doesn't have to make use of her weapon nor does she has a vision (Bennett secretly likes that fact, because he thinks is the only lucky thing that have happened to him without his sister intervention, or Said sister)

Bennett would be like "Have you meet my dads? They are so cool! But you know who's even cooler? My big sister!" Due to her quickly escalating in the ranks, his admiration for her reaches unimaginable levels! But... he can't help but feel envious too.

All that he ever wanted to be, to do, and the only way he can somewhat fulfill that dream, is through someone else actions. He feels guilty for having that type of not so good emotions toward his dear big sister, but he can't help but feel useless. Everyone in the guild expected great things from him, since he's related to Darling. But when his lack of luck started to be seen as what it is and not really unlucky occurrences, everyone just sent him this look of pity or just plain up ignored him and asked for his sister.

This is only one branch of the tree of bittersweet feelings he'll harbour to his kin, that slowly will overgrow to the point of eclipsing the good ones, leaving him a mess of guilt, sadness and jealousy. That's his sister, don't you see she only has eyes for him? No one would have done so much for a no one like Bennett if she didn't truly loved him and only him.

Oh? Dear sister, you came from that commission earlier than what Katheryne calculated! It's so good to see you-- Eh? The bandits who were safekeeping the chest ate something poisonous and fell ill when you arrived? That's Lucky... I'm happy for you, really...

Today marks another day of one of Benny's adventure team member not reporting in... wait, you say that you went on an adventure with him earlier in the day? Ah, don't worry, you didn't know they left the team, so no need to apologise, hehe...

The community almost made it canon that the dads from the Adventurers' guild tickled our little boy Benny to hiccups when he was little. Imma cry again.

And yes, of course I must say that he absolutely loves tickles, everyone shut up, I'm a total tickle trash, okay?

I like to think that Bennett's worst spots are his tummy, hips, ribs and feet (he's a walking tickle spot, we all know that)

Bennett is usually the one who starts tickle fights all the time, but it's so hard for him to get the upper hand, poor baby... Though sometimes Razor or traveller let him have his fun. Just a little bit. And then get wrecked, little one

Yes, Benny likes playful tickles, but not so many people know about it. He told Fischl, traveller, and, of course, Razor, but the poor baby was so embarrassed and scared that people would think he's weird...

...But after they said that this is absolutely normal, cute even, Bennett felt relieved. Cheer-up tickles for Benny became a thing after that. Sometimes he'll even shyly ask for tickles himself.

Bennett probably has a lot of scars from his “sometimes-not-so-lucky adventures”, but please, someone, just gently trace them with your fingers, please kiss his little scars playfully (he'll melt), please tell Benny that he's beautiful and he's loved-

He definitely snorts when someone raspberries his tummy.

He actually likes tickling others (when his luck lets him, of course), chasing his friends, running around, wiggling his fingers and giggling adorably, Bennett is a really cute little tickle monster!

He's really good at finding other people's worst tickle spots though, so you have to be careful!

Bennett will never push past your limits, he'll give you a break or stop completely, as soon as you ask him to (aosospdfjejw, he's actually like “A-are you okay?” every two minutes, I love this baby)

Razor 🐾

Okay, Razor didn't even know what tickling really is, until he met Bennett.

I think his worst spots are his underarms, ribs, neck and ears. He's not as sensitive as Benny of course, but still very ticklish in any spot~

The sensation was so unusual to him when Bennett fully tickled him for the first time, Razor asked so many questions, making the other boy hella flustred XD

When Bennett told Razor that he liked tickling, the wolf-boy was like: “Oh, Razor likes it too!.. Is it bad?.. Bennett's face is burning...”

Sometimes Razor's own hair brushes against his neck, and he starts scrunching up his shoulders and shaking his little head like a puppy-

HE'S REALLY TICKLISH UNDER HIS CHIN IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY–

Razor is pretty good at holding his reactions in, he has those quiet but hella cute giggles!

Razor loves going “Tickle hunting”. He just sneaks up on °literally any character Razor knows here°, jumps on them and wrecks them. Cute little boi. (I believe that it would happen in the Apple Archipelago arc, Razor just playfully attacking everyone he sees and chasing them is just akdhejsmow- IMAGINE POOR DILUC THO LMAO-)

Don't try using Razor's methods on him, the wolf-boy will hear you even if you're meters away and trying to be as quiet as possible. Bennett tried, believe me.

Razor definitely uses nibbles and nuzzles while tickling Benny (works wonders btw-)

Sometimes Razor starts licking at Bennett's little cuts to stop the blood, and poor boy is like: “Hohow many times I've tohold you–!”

Part 3 of my take on a genshin impact circus AU: Bennett, Fischl, and Razor as a beast-taming trio. Backstory under the cut.

Benny:

Bennett was adopted into a research team of zoologists (what in canon would be the adventurer’s guild). The ones that go out into the world and get their hands dirty in studying animals. He loved interacting with the animals, and though research was interesting, he always spent more time with the animal caretakers and vets than with the researchers so he’s extremely acquainted with their habits, how to feed them, when to keep them in captivity versus the wild, and how to regulate their environment properly when in captivity. He has this knack for interacting with them, even the big ones.

As for how he got into the circus: Well first off he got wind of how poorly these animals are treated in some circuses and got into the circuses for the caretaking purposes. He would hop from circus to circus to take care of the animals and show the performers how to Not Harm Them (like tigers jumping through hoops on fire??? Nuh-uh. Whips, tight collars, and muzzles? We don’t do that here). He certifies himself as a vet after a while of this.

More time passes and he realizes this is a bigger problem than can be solved by himself. He’s been kicked out of a few places and for a while had terrible luck finding work because some of his previous employers didn’t want to spend the extra resources on animal care (lacking funds and lacking planning for it) and spread word of a legal liability of a vet.

Aether and Lumine catch word of this and track him down to a little animal clinic where he works as an intern. They offer him a spot in their circus bc they’ve been wanting to introduce animals into the mix but want to plan correctly (like how many animals they can support properly). Long story short, Bennett gets into the circus and works with Yanfei to actually become a legal liability to the circuses not treating animals correctly, and he himself will take as many of those animals as he can into his corner of the circus and send the rest to his dads (since circus animals tend to be rare breeds and his dads have a branch of research on captive animals). And finally he can take care of his animals and show the world that you don’t have to harm animals for a good show. Mostly big ones like elephants, big cats, and camels.

He’ll do shows more like synchronizing movements between the animals and tricks like they do with marine animals. They do have cages for transport but they’re spacious and they take frequent breaks for physical activity. Benny will only take the animals that have been domesticated their whole lives and will send the ones fit to live in the wild to his dads to set free.

Fischl:

Fischl was born into the circus life and was that kid who would stop people from killing bugs, take them in a glass container, and set them outside. She regularly patches up the birds with broken wings she finds outside.

Def spent more time outside hanging with the birds than with the people in the circus, since birds aren’t technically a circus animal. Oz is an old old vulture (or falcon, I haven’t decided yet. If anyone can pinpoint his species please let me know) that has taken a liking to Fischl and so no matter where her circus goes, she sees Oz there to hang and bring her injured birds.

She once asked if birds could be circus animals and was told that they tried but it didn’t work out. She gets into reading the obscure materials on birds as circus animals and deduces that they just weren’t taking care of them right. She brings up this idea to the circus manager and essentially gets the door slammed in her face. The last time she asks about it, it’s to her parents and is told to find something realistic to do in the circus and forget about the birds.

From then she sees all the other kids her age in the circus training to be in the show in some way or another and hears what they say about her “head in the clouds”. So she starts training with different branches of the circus (gymnastics-based, death-defying stunts, fire, etc.) and she... genuinely considers leaving to pursue another profession.

Then as her circus is about to get on the road, she catches wind of a circus performing in the town they’re just about to leave. One that uses animals, and since her circus never used animals due to lacking funding, she goes for a night out of curiosity and on the off-chance that they use birds. She noticed that this wasn’t anything like she’d heard about or read about circus animals, so she sends them a letter addressed to the person running the animal part of the show asking about birds in the circus.

Benny’s response boils down to “well it’d be a little complicated but what’d you have in mind?” so they start exchanging letters and the next time the two circuses are near each other, she goes on over and brings all her letters after a show and sees how gentle Bennett is with the animals. They get to talking and Benny takes her to meet the animals, telling her about how he does things while she tells him about how she’d go about introducing birds to a circus.

Aether and Lumine hear about this and before she knows it, Fischl’s being told to get her birds ready, she has an audition in a month (spoiler alert: she passes). Her act is made up of all kinds of birds. Very few of them are housed on the circus for very long since she’s never liked the idea of birds in cages. The birds she uses are all the injured ones in the process of rehabilitation brought to her by Oz. She also keeps the ones that won’t fly again or never learned to find food despite her and Oz doing their best to socialize them. Those that don’t perform are excellent at taking care of the newbies and overall helping Fischl out. 

At any given point she’ll be seen with about 3-5 birds of different sizes on her and she’ll always smell a bit like worms and seeds of various kinds. She expands on her first-aid abilities from watching Bennett, and in turn offers knowledge on birds and how to deal with smaller animals with different bone structures, metabolisms, and cardiovascular systems.

Razor:

Razor’s story is a lot simpler. Backstory is essentially the same as in canon, except he doesn’t meet Lisa right away, and spends a little more time with Varka learning to read and write at the most basic level and fight hand-to-hand. Instead of an abyss mage attacking them, it’s a group of hunters. During this fight, a lot of the wolves are gravely injured but he takes one of them and runs into town looking for help.

After a show, Bennett and Fischl are on their way to see Bennett’s dads to take some birds that can’t handle the circus life but also aren’t fit to be free. They happen to be in the town where Bennett trained to be a vet and they stop by the clinic to say hello. Inside they see a boy dressed in rags and covered in dirt cradling an unconscious wolf pup, trying to get the attention of one of the clerks. One of the clerks tries to help him but the communication barrier is not helping them and the boy seems distressed on top of that, pointing and growling with the word “help” thrown in here and there, so Bennett steps in bc he knows some of these people in the clinic.

Bennett comes in and he and Fischl follow him out to where the rest of the pack is. Fischl brings her birds bc they’re her babies in case anyone was wondering. They perform first aid the best they can given the conditions, and manage to save a good chunk of the wolves, but a good chunk of them still die.

The pack splits up into two. On the one hand, the older wolves take whoever’s still alive and resume their activities in the forest. On the other, Razor has this opportunity to go and find out whether he’s a human or a wolf, and the little wolf pup he brought to the clinic goes with him because she’s too injured to go with the others. Same for a few other wolves.

So they go and the only place they have to stay is the circus bc Bennett and Fischl want to monitor the wolves a little more, so they spend the night. Next morning, Razor gives Fischl and Bennett a basket of meat, berries, and seeds to feed their respective animals and they realize Razor has some valuable skills, so he ends up staying upon receiving the OK from Lumine and Aether and telling Lisa and Ningguang for administrative purposes.

Because wolves inherently do not do well with loud noises and circus settings, Razor is very off-put by the idea of performance. Not to mention that he himself probs wouldn’t feel comfortable in the performance setting, so he sticks to the background (even learning the basics of tech) and gets really good at gathering resources from food for the animals to helping Oz bring back injured birds and track other injured animals. He and Oz interact a lot, which helps his friendship with Fischl as he was initially closer to Bennett.

His relationship with Lisa after a while can be summarized as “focus up you little monsters. not you Razor. You’re an angel and we’re thrilled you’re here”

Lucky/Unlucky? | Bennet x Reader

Bennett was used to being unfortunate,so this was a bit of a surprise for him. Nevertheless it was more of a good kind of surprise

note : this was an old fic i had back on wattpad so i thought i’d put it here. would like to write some more but given the fact i’m having little time to write i haven’t got much to post. anyway enjoy this little baby

Another day another adventure resulting in no treasure found. But this slowly becomes a routine for him,and he didn't really mind now that he had gotten used to it. Once every few days he'd set out and wander around Mondstadt and see if he can locate any treasures. Of course,that includes some near-death experience and some serious misfortune everytime he decided to go out adventuring. Many voiced their concerns over how Bennett is most likely to die young if he keeps adventuring and getting himself into trouble.

The boy already asked every single adventurer available in the guild to join his Benny's adventure team. But much to his disappointment everyone declined once they knew how unlucky he is and how every adventure,even the most mundane ones can become one hell of an adventure,quite literally.

Again,today Bennett was making his way to the gate about to go on another solo adventure when Katheryne called him. The boy stopped in his track and approached the desk where she was working.

"You called?" He asked.

"Yes. I...thought i'd let you know about a new adventurer that recently just arrive."

"A new adventurer!?" He repeated,his eyes widen in surprise and glee.

"Why,yes. In fact she's around your age i think? There's no harm in asking her to go adventuring with you." Said Katheryne smiling.

Bennett wasted no time in asking where she is at the moment and ran off to Windrise to find her. The woman looked at his back that was disappearing into the distance. Katheryne couldn't help but chuckle. It's been quite some time since he met another young adventurer. He arrived and began to scout the area before finding the person that fit the description he was given. The girl was ruffling through her bag by the statue of seven,her hair moving along with the gentle breeze. Bennett gulped and took a breath before approaching her.

"Um,hey..uh..Y/N,right?" He manage to stutter out. She looked up and closed the bag before facing him properly.

"Yes,and...who might you be?"

"I'm Bennett. From Benny's adventure team." Geez,his nervous level is through the roof right now.

"Oh,yeah. I've heard a bit about your team. Uh...nice to meet you?"

There was a brief moment of silence between both of them. They just sort of look at each other. Not wanting to keep this awkward atmosphere with her,he decided to carry on.

"I- uh,was wondering if you'd like to go and adventure with me?"

She stared at him for a moment,before smiling. "Well, it's better than adventuring alone. Sure!" Bennett was over the moon at her response. It's been way too long since he had a teammate,or just any other human accompany him. He thanked her profusely before heading out together.

"There's should be a treasure near the thousand winds temple." He said while they make their way on foot.

"Well,why haven't you get the treasure yet if you already had a general idea of it's location?"

"Oh yea,the whole you're super unlucky thing." Y/N chuckled.

"Well,i was about to but then it started to pour like crazy and there's lighting strike everywhere. So i had to retreat

" Bennett laughed nervously.

"You really don't mind being with someone who has a record of countless misfortune?"

"Well,i think it would make the trip more interesting." She grinned.

He didn't know what to say to the response he got. Other members of the guild either already had a team or couldn't handle his bad luck. But a part of him felt happy that she didn't mind or felt forced to go along with him. Their idle chit chat made the walk felt short,as they arrived at their destination. Bennett pulled out his map where he marked possible locations of the treasure chest. It was kinda vague because he rushed to mark it as he made his way back to Mondstadt during his last visit. But he knows the treasure is somewhere around here. Y/N suggested they look around for clues or any mark that he might have left. Both of them split up to look around. It took about half an hour before he heard her calling out to him. Bennett rushed to where she was to find her near a big tree.

"Look! I think i found it?" She pointed towards a big wooden chest under the giant roots of the tree. "Wow,we actually found it!" He exclaimed. Sure it would be hard to get the chest out from under all those roots,but it's still possible.

"We have to be careful,though. There's a hilichurl camp nearby." Y/N whispered as she pulled out the rope from her bag. They tried to put the rope around the chest and try to pull it out from under the tree. God who puts a chest on a small space of a damn tree!? And not to mention under all these giant roots too!

Both Bennett and Y/N used all their strength to try and pull the treasure chest out. It worked and the managed to pull it out,but then that bad luck kicks in and they flung the entire chest and its content over to the hilichurl's camp. Bennett yelped and quickly rushed over trying to get the chest with Y/N following close behind her,but unfortunately the loud crashing noise alerted all the hilicurls and even two of the shielded mitachurls.

"Aw,crap. Guess we're not getting this treasure for free." Bennett sighed in defeat.

"Well then guess we'll just have to fight to get our hands on that treasure."

Y/N's glove glow a pale green color as they rushed towards the camp together. He set ablaze his sword and swing it around just beating the crap out of those hilichurls. Y/N launched several of the hilichurl archers away before setting the mitachurl's shields on fire. The pale haired boy got launched a bit far with one of the mitachurl before Y/N used her anemo powers to set off the explosive barrel nearby. Luckily Bennett wasn't in the explosion range and she rushed over to him.

"Bennett,you okay?" She asked. "Yea, i'm used to it-" He tried to stand up,before noticing the last mitachurl ready to ran them over.

"Y/N,watch out!"

Bennett pushed himself up and rush over to at least try and get her out of the way. Both arms wrapped around her,he pulled both himself and Y/N to the side,barely avoiding the mitachurl who rammed itself against one of the stack of explosive barrels. After everything settled down he stood up and checked on Y/N.

"Ohmygodimsosorryihopeididnthurtyou-" he rambled on as he helped her get up.

"Seriously,it's fine. You saved me from that mitachurl afterall." She chuckled.

"But i guess we still don't find any treasure,though."

Both of them looked to find the chest was also destroyed during the fight, probably in the explosion. And with it all the contents. This was normal for Bennett,being disappointed by the results of his adventures,but he felt especially guilty that someone came along with him to find nothing.

"Hey,Y/N i'm sorry you didn't find any treasure. If i hadn't come along,maybe you would've gotten the treasure."

He looked down in a frown,both hands gripping his pants. There was a moment of silent with burning grass in the background. But then he felt a pat on the shoulder and glanced up to see Y/N smiling at him.

"Well,if you hadn't come along i probably would never know the treasure is here."

"We can just look for treasure some other time." Y/N grinned.

Hearing Y/N comfort him made Bennett felt just a bit better. His frown soon disappear replaced with a small grin as he nodded. Maybe next time he'd have better luck,who knows? They cleaned up the mess and put out the fire before grabbing their stuff that was scattered around during the fight and putting everything back into their bag. On the way back Bennett told her more about his adventure stories,or rather misadventures? They traded stories and a few tips and tricks before arriving at Mondstadt's gate.

"It's getting late,you should go back to your dads." She said as they walk around the city.

"Some of them might still be in Angel's share so i'll probably go there and make sure they're doing okay." He replied. They got to the building where sounds of singing and party can be heard even from outside. Bennett just stood there,not really know what to do. He wanted to keep adventuring with her,but he's not even sure if she would want to after all that fiasco. He wasn't sure if he should ask.

"So,same time tomorrow,i guess?"

He stopped his hand that was pushing the door open and glanced at her in surprise,while Y/N just stare back at him.

"W-what?" He replied,dumbfounded.

"Same time tomorrow? I have a few information on some treasure chests."

He was just caught off guard still shocked,just blinking at her in silence.

"They're not gonna dig themselves out, y'know. And me alone is probably not enough to bring them back safely." She chuckled.

"O-oh,yeah! Sure?" He manage to stutter out.

"Alright see you tomorrow then!" Y/N smiled and wave and him while she walk back to her own place of residency. Bennett just wave back like an idiot who's still processing everything. She was gone by the time he took everything in and couldn't help but smile the entire time he's with his dads by the tavern.

Well today was a huge mess and he probably hasn't put out his best first impression he can offer to Y/N. The adventure was a complete fiasco and they got nothing out of it,well maybe a few scars. Overall it's just another adventure day gone wrong for someone as unlucky as he is.

But a part of him just felt like he has a bit of luck left when Y/N said he wanted to go on another adventure with him. He thought of them going around Mondstadt together looking for treasures and discovering ruins or anything. It's nice to finally have someone to accompany him in his journey. He wouldn't feel lonely at the very least.

Maybe he wasn't so unlucky as he think he is.
