ngl you're really just another survivor within Nevada who was lucky enough to not get fucked up by Hank or Tricky.. or Jeb, or the Agenc-

But then how did you meet Torture? You may be asking

That's the thing, you both bumped into each other accidentally

Torture was mid... Crisis? Breakdown? Idk but he was killing ppl, his pain their pain shit

He walked into what he thought was an abandoned warehouse to try and clean the blood off his hands, only to find you standing with a bag in your hands

A few awkward moments of staring at each other ensue, until you lifted the bag slightly

"you... Hungry..?" You ask unsurely, he's still staring at you, taken off guard by your question, usually, people would've run away, and he either decides if he wants to chase them or leave the be

He shook his head, but HEY WHAT A COINCIDENCE his stomach rumbled right on cue

You just deadpanned up at him "yes you are, don't lie to me." Then walked up to him

He was still stunned in his seat, questioning whether you were stupid or brave to talk to him in such a way, but before he could even finish his thoughts, you offered a hot dog to him- where did that come from??- oh.. yeah.. the- the bag-

"here, take it." You said, he hissed lightly, inching away from the food, but his stomach rumbled again, he was- actually pretty hungry- after a few minutes, he actually took it

It was pretty tiny on his hand but it should at least be just enough until he goes back to the agency

He grunted a thank you and kept sitting there, you- surprisingly to him -sat in front of him "no worries" you said, ".... So- what'cha doing over here?"

You both made small talk for a while, and he actually found himself quite entertained with you, you were a great person just to talk to, who would listen to what he could say or read what he could write and give your honest opinion, and he appreciates that!

So ensue him sneaking out of the agency multiple times just to talk to you

He says he's a complex individual and you are the only person who will actually listen to him... In reality its something deeper, he's falling for you, he doesn't know it yet but he'll get it eventually

Though some of the agents and ATPs are getting suspicious of how he just vanishes sometimes, especially when they need him, he's threatened to kill anyone who dared report his vanishes to the Auditor, another thing he's glad to be scary about

And I'm sorry but he won't realize his feelings in time, you'll have to confess first-

And once you do, he finally realizes what he feels for you and reciprocates the feelings

Ensue his outings are longer and way more often bc you and him are now constantly meeting and cuddling

He swears he's never had the most comfort ever in his life

You're the best thing that has happened to him!!

And he'll protect you until the end of his life, you know he's a man of word

Auditor probably knows after putting a tracker on him due to the number of his outings, but he won't interfere, your influence has actually been making him a lot easier to work with unless you try to fuck with his cause or influence him into leaving the agency you won't be hunted <3

Ghost is observant. He's always been, even before it was his job. It kept him safe, safe from his father's worst moods, safe from bullies at school, safe from the inevitable deterioration of all of his relationships.

So when Soap starts acting suspicious he feels his heart start to sink. He's a big enough person to admit that he's been selfish with Soap, allowed himself to indulge in genuine companionship; allowed something dangerous to develop. But what choice does he have? The thought of leaving now and denying himself the simple warmth of John MacTavish is almost a physical pain. So it should be a relief when Johnny starts to pull away, it saves Ghost from being the one to do it. But for once in his long trail of broken hearts and slowly withering relationships, Ghost doesn't want it to end.

So he clings on. He seeks him out more often, snaps and snarls at the thought of Soap going out of his sight. He lays there listening as Soap wakes with a haunted scream, internally wrestling with himself until he gathers the courage to cross the hall and knock, his cheeks heating when Soap answers the door in just his boxers. He kicks himself when Soap redirects and prepares to bow out and take the dismissal respectfully when Johnny offers to come and sit with him and his traitorous heart soars in his chest. Soap is giving him this and he'll take it with gratitude. They sit together in the rec room for hours, watching the fish sleep peacefully until Soap has drifted off and his tea is in danger of spilling in his limp hand. He briefly considers taking Johnny back to his room but he rationalizes that there is a reason the Soap didn't want him in there and it really isn't his business. So he sits there and he observes. Simply watching the slight rise and fall of Johnny's chest as he sleeps on the tattered couch. Indulging in the domesticity of it all.

When a knock jars him awake in the middle of the night he's unsure what he expects but Soap delirious and bleeding was certainly not on the top of that list. A small lick of pride flares inside of him that Soap would come to him before medical, which brings with it quiet concerns and many questions. Still he brings Johnny inside and sits him gently on his bed, stepping into his bathroom to quickly grab his personal first aid kit.

Soap is saying something when he gets back, so deep in his accent that it doesn't even register as words. Kneeling on the floor in front of him, Ghost reverently takes his arm and starts to wipe at it with a damp cloth. Cleaning away the blood with quiet fervor, unsure just what could inflict such a wound on his Sergeant at this hour of the night. When the wound is revealed he flinches back.

Ghost is intimately acquainted with snake bites, has several scars buried deep in his collection that match the marks on Soap's arm, stretched and warped as they are from where he's grown since he got them.

And this is from a big fucking snake.

He looks up to Soap meets his eyes suddenly deathly sober.

"Just how'd you get this Soap?"

i love it when fic writers sprinkle their hcs in a way that makes the characters feel Real and like they exist fully in their universe outside of what we see on screen

idk how to explain it but i have an example

in this one ninjago fic, kai and morro were lost (i think?) and chained together and kai had to let the others know hes okay without morro listening in, so he calls their base and says some random shit that turns out to be code for whatever. and like!! for ninjago specially i know the whole point of the show is that they r silly and goofy and we barely see them being like,,, actually capable and serious but i loooove when authors give them these extra bits that confirms the fact that they've been a team for so long and the do have ways in which they deal with shit like this (the fic is ignitus in ao3!!! i dont think i ever finished it but its rlly good go read it ninjago people)

a more recent example for rise. its generally agreed in the fandom that the turtles know asl and sometimes they add it sometimes they dont BUT!! this one fic goes beyond that and gave them signs for their names (donnies was a d being tapped to the forehead, mikeys was an m tapped to the heart, etc) which i had never seen in any other fic and!!!!!! like!!! they even gave april one and they explain how the turtles got to those signs. and its a small ish detail but it gives so much more context like. it makes it feel as though asl is an actual real part of their everyday lives and stuff!! (i talked abt this one recently its little kid with a big death wish on ao3!!! this one is so fucking good, i cried in 30 of 33 chapters istg)

I haven’t been able to get the bathroom call between Daigo and Majima out of my head for weeks since I read it with how naturally it all flows. My own little Daigo characterization booklet to review when I feel like I need a refresher on him.

so I may have stayed up until 6am reading this (would’ve slept earlier but I couldn’t stop reading it) and hgggahaghhhhaggahshhhhhhhh that was one of the most well-characterized fics I’ve ever read what the fuck. like the differences in how each character speaks (both tone-wise and in differing levels of authenticity) and how they speak to specific others (the daigo and majima dyanmic specifically- how they actually take into account how long they’ve been working really closely- SO good), the mental anguish and chaos vs the overwhelming emptiness of being daigo dojima but no longer The 6th Chairman Daigo Dojima……….I could keep going but I think you get it.

tbh I’d been wanting to write something exploring a similar set of dynamics/situation (post-kiryu’s fake death, interactions with haruka, daigo, and/or majima specifically, reflecting on his shortcomings while acknowledging the heavy Grief left behind) but now I’m like. well I still could but this was so well written in regards to daigo and haruka that, as far as something between those two goes, I don’t feel the need to.

so we're in class, right, and my teacher is talking about some intelligence test she made us take but i never finished, because i forgot to do it the second time she ran the questions. i raise my hand to tell her i couldn't finish it, and she says "yes you did, i have it here"

when i was a kid, i heard these words all the time by teachers when i was accused of doing something i didnt do. "yes you did, your classmate told me" or "no you didn’t, stop lying". my mom used to resort to gaslighting at the drop of a hat whenever i did something she didn't like.

i have bpd. i react quickly and poorly based on instincts, i have a tendency to assume the worst at all times. as a kid no one ever believed me.

so here i am, telling a teacher i forgot to do something, admitting my mistake. "yes you did," she says. "you turned it in i have it here."

i say "no i didnt" she says "you did". she doesnt believe me. why doesnt she believe me? i panic, why am i being gaslit for something so meaningless? why doesn’t she believe me? shes gaslighting me. shes lying to me.

i shake my head and say "no. stop lying to me."

and the class starts groaning, irritated at what im saying. but it doesnt make sense to me, whats so wrong with asking not to be lied to?

i come down from the fear dust cloud and realize that, in their eyes, i was trying to pick a fight with a teacher for no reason. in their eyes, i just got defensive over nothing. in their eyes, im unreasonable. but to me it makes sense! i have bpd! i have trauma related to manipulation! its obvious that i would react like that.

i just wish people wouldnt assume im just an overly defensive jerk so often, i wish more people would ask themselves why i do the things i do
