underrated funny moment is if you accuse Wuunferth the Unliving of necromancy during Blood On The Ice, he indignantly tells you

"I beg your pardon? Necromancy? I am a member of the College of Winterhold, in good standing! They haven't allowed necromancy for hundreds of years!"

which is hilarious given that Phinis Gestor, the college's resident expert conjurer, if you ask about necromancy will tell you

"By Sheor, no. Those archaic policies died out with the Mages Guild, and were never enforced here. Necromancy, as any other type of magic, is a tool to be used. Of course, non-mages may not see it that way, so we don't go around flaunting it."

At some point very early in the game I took a carriage to Windhelm to get somewhere in the area but I knew I didn't want to enter Windhelm because of something to do with one of my favorite quests, Blood on the Ice. I didn't look anything up about the quest at the time despite it being years since I played Skyrim last but I figured I didn't have to worry about bugs so long as I didn't enter the city. Well when I took the carriage to the Windhelm Stables a dragon attacked. Lydia and I fought it off and killed it with the only casualty being a high elf woman. I didn't think anything of it and went about my business. That was over 700 saves ago and I looked up the quest ten minutes ago to learn that woman was a key npc for the quest that in the eleven fucking years of updates and re-releases she was never marked as essential to make sure the quest could start TODD HOWARD I AM DECLARING A WAR FOR YOUR CRIMES OF NEGLECT I WILL MEET YOU ON THE BATTLE FIELD.

hey remember in Skyrim during the Blood On The Ice quest when you go to the Hall of the Dead and Helgird is performing the autopsy on Susanna’s body and she’s got a line of dialogue like “Large diagonal cut from left shoulder…”

Who’s she talking to? It’s clearly phrased like autopsy notes, the kind an investigator might dictate into a tape recorder. But Tamriel has no tape recorders (I think??) so…? She just telling her notes to the air?

A local adventurer has brought The Butcher of Winterhold to justice. Last night outside Blacksmith Quarters local bard Arivanya was attacked by Calixto Corrium, proprietor of Calixto's House of Curiosities. The adventurer, hired by the Jarl's Steward to investigate the murders stepped in and preventing the butcher from achieving his fourth murder. Corrium was notably detained as a witness to the murder of Susanna the Wicked but was free to go after claiming he saw a man flee the scene. Authorities have declined to comment on this failing.

Further tragedy last night. Nilsene Shatter-Shield, twin sister to Friga Shatter-Shield (The Butcher's second victim) was murdered inside Candlehearth Hall. The perpetrator is still at large with no leads in the investigation. Authorities are asking for anyone with information to please come forward.
