2018 PAX East was the very first event @alixsparrow and I worked for SQEX. That event set the tone for relationships and adventures for years to come. 14 shows later and we were back where it all began repping the game we've played for the past 10 years now.
To say that we were in our element is an understatement. There is definitely something about connecting with folks sharing the same passion. Fellow gamers. There's an energy there that's tough to beat. And as a bonus we also reconnected with show crew from that very first 2018 PAX. Great eats, great drinks, and great workouts were had all weekend.
Very grateful for every opportunity to thrive in this nerd culture and especially for this #FFXIVxPUMA Collab. The drip is real.
Looking forward to this epic FF year with Fanfest, 7.0 announcements, and #FFXVI around the corner!
CANNOT wait for the crew reunion at Fanfest Las Vegas this year. Hope to see you all out there! Like ALL of you. Make it happen.
Until then, stay Healthy. Stay nerdy.

Drake announces 'It’s All a Blur Tour' with 21 Savage
Tumblr media
Drake has announced a 29-stop tour with 21 Savage to accompany their smash hit album Her Loss. Find out where you can grab tickets! Its All a Blur   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by champagnepapi (@champagnepapi) The 'It’s All a Blur Tour' begins this summer on June 16 in the New Orleans Smoothie King Center. In addition to New Orleans, Drake and 21 will be visiting Detroit, Inglewood, Washington DC, San Francisco, Atlanta, and more. This is a big return to the stage for Drake, who hasn’t toured since the 2018 'Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour'. That venture was extremely lucrative for both The Migos and Drake, grossing a total of 111.21 million and spanning 54 shows. Since then, the 'One Dance' artist has put out 5 albums and performed several high-profile live shows. Namely, his recent set at the Apollo Theater and the 2021 'Free Larry Hoover' concert with Kanye West. Now that Drake has proven to himself, the industry and his fans the momentum hasn’t slowed a bit. And he’s ready to return as a headliner. The upcoming 'It’s All a Blur Tour' follows the duo's highly praised collab Her Loss. The project was received well both critically and on the charts. Her Loss debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 400,000 units, including 12,000 pure album sales. Drake is no stranger to capitalizing off collaborations, with 2015's What a Time to be Alive with Future being one of his most well-received projects. 21 is also familiar with music partnerships, releasing Without Warning with Offset and Metro Boomin back in 2017. However, her loss dominates all those titles with sheer numbers alone. And the 'It’s All a Blur Tour' is just the icing on the cake. Where Are They Going? Tickets officially go on sale March 15th via Cash App Card and Sprite presales. Tickets are open to the general public on drakerelated.com starting March 17th 12pm EST. Waking Up In Vegas
Modern AU!Kenny Ackerman X Reader
A/N: What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas - this is my contribution to @boston-bakedbeans Las Vegas themed collab! I had a nice bit of fun with this one - in my mind it took the form of a mixed ‘married in vegas’, ‘waking up with a stranger’, and my dilf obsession with a sprinkle Pretty Women vibes. The latter bit, well, you can take it or leave it really.
Summary: While on a trip to Sin City with some friends, you wake up one morning in a hotel room that isn’t yours, with a wedding band on your finger that also shouldn’t be yours, next to a man you cannot even remember meeting.
Warnings: Age-gap. Implied smut. Mild Course Launguage. MC’s hungover. Hange plays the role of ‘not very helpful’ BFF.
Listening to: ‘This Is How We Do’ by Katy Perry - ‘This goes out to all you people going to bed with a 10, and waking up with a 2... Hah, not me.’

You know what they’d say – have always said – about Vegas.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – it’s like heaven at night – time moves differently there – or waking up married to a stranger.
Blinking awake, you grimaced at the sunlight being shone directly into your face. Underneath you were hotel bedsheets – something you’d become familiar with over the past few nights staying in sin city. As your eyes adjusted, you noted the view out the window was not one from your hotel room – in fact this wasn’t your hotel room at all – it was somewhere a lot higher. In fact, three things stood out as alarmingly unfamiliar; the fact you had no real clothing on, the arm – and attached body that was practically on top of you - and the ring on your finger.
It was brand new to you at least, and admittedly was nice, if simple. The problem was that you had no idea where it came from, nor why it was on your wedding ring finger.
You decided to look at who you were sharing a bed with, and the sight of his face brought a few things to mind. His name was Kenny.
You remembered what he looked like – obviously – but he looked different last night. You wondered how much you drank in order to distort your vision; however, the only real difference was he looked older – handsome was a word you could still used to describe him though.
If the state of yourself right now – a little sore and very indecent – had anything to say about him, he didn’t think you looked that bad either. Or he liked your personality. He also married you, if your conclusions were drawn correctly, so.
“I can feel you staring.” his voice startled you, muffled by the pillow and riddled with a still-asleep haze. His eye opened, blinking, and he looked over at you. “It woke me up.” You scoffed, shuffling away and sitting up. Clutching the sheets to your body, a hand shot to your head as it pulsed from the sudden movement and made your vision blur. “Yeah, I am not no lightweight but the amount you drank last night would’ve been enough to make a drunkard concerned.”
“Do you ever shut up.” You mumbled, still holding your head as you sat back against the headboard. “And I doubt I drank that much, I never do.”
He snickered beside you, sitting up also and running a hand through his shaggy hair. Stretching back, his arms rested behind his head, and he mimicked your pose. Then he brought his left hand down between you.
“I’m missing a ring. You think we bought one?”
“We?” you gawked at him. “I -… This was not my idea!”
“Oh, and you remember that?” he hummed. It left you stumped for a moment, thinking, then you felt yourself pout a little before slumping back even more. Even if it was upsetting you, you were married to this man – even if that made it complicated, at least he didn’t just up and leave you right away.
“You shouldn’t tease me. You took advantage of me being so drunk I can’t remember anything.”
“Ah, no,” he tutted, looking offended, “I would never pull that kind of shit, and it was your idea to get married before we had sex ‘because it’s Vegas!’ and I’m sure in about an hour you’ll remember that anyway.”
That left you at more loss for words than before. So, shuffling down into the pillows and bedsheets, you decided to wait until you could remember more before discussing ‘this’ further.
Tumblr media
An hour had passed, and while Kenny had been up – showering and getting breakfast brought in – you had stayed where you were and checked your phone.
You figured your friends would be worried since you just disappeared last night, but what good friends they were being not worried at all.
They had sent you photos of the whole thing, which did help jog your memory quite a bit, and you had a few texts from last night telling you good luck or congratulations (one from your sister, who you were almost praying hadn’t told your parents yet), and then some from this morning asking how you were, which you responded to.
With their help, you were able to start piecing together how you ended up in a strange hotel room in Las Vegas married to a man you’d never met before who was also at least twenty years older than you – but the age difference was bothering you less and less as the minuets ticked on.
Tumblr media
Last night started with going out with your friends. It was about halfway through your week-long holiday, and you’d all decided dressing up to look more expensive and trying your lucks at a casino or two was a good idea. (Apparently your luck was either good or bad.) Through the night, your group merged with another at a bar, and while no one else in your friend group got married, a few indecent moments were stolen here and there.
Kenny just so happened to be part of this group, you do remember how much he looked like he didn’t want to be there, and your curiosity was what made you introduce yourself over a drink. Apparently, things escalated from there. You spent the rest of the night chatting – about a lot – at a mix of tables and bars.
You moved from a seat to his lap, had more drinks.
The group moved to another casino, and then more drinks.
Someone brought up weddings, and you were pretty sure you repeated that to him as your hand wandered under his shirt collar and his hand wandered from your waist to your thigh as a friend brought another drink.
A chapel was next, and someone just so happened to have a ring on them – how, you’d have to ask – and then after being pronounced hitched you went for more drinks.
The rest you could put together from the state you were in now and the suggestive messages left by your oh so great friends.
Tumblr media
You started to think what went wrong.
See, the drinking part wasn’t something you did all the time – if ever – especially in this amount. You weren’t exactly acting like you either, sitting on a man’s lap in a place so public was not the ‘you’ you knew, but it was Vegas, and ‘you’ you didn’t exactly go there all the time either.
“You gonna have some of this or do I get it all?” Looking up at where Kenny was standing in the doorway, you did like the idea of the food he had gestured to. You sat up, then squirmed a little.
“Uh, where are my clothes?” He smirked at you.
“And why would I want to give them to you?”
“Kenny, I swear to god you get me my clothes or so help me I’ll – “
“- Yeah, I’m going to stop you there sweetheart cause that’s a losing battle you’ve got on your hands.” He said, stalking over to your right and rummaged around in a closet. He pulled out a white shirt – much like the one he had on now – and threw it at you. “Just take that, and we can find your clothes later.”
“’We’?” You gawked but pulled the shirt on anyway. “You don’t know where my clothes are?”
“Nope, not a clue.” He said, walking out of the room and talking over his shoulder. “But last I saw them they were very ruined.” He laughed as he sat down, flicking a newspaper up to cover his face.
You blinked, straightening the shirt out and stepping out of bed with your phone in hand. You dialed your friends’ number in record timing.
“Mhmm, what?” their answer was groggy, and you could only guess they were still asleep and/or hungover. Like you.
“Do you know who this is?” you asked. Waiting for an answer, you walked out of the bedroom and to the food. You beelined for a piece of fruit before sitting down opposite Kenny.
“Well, it’s not that cutie I met last night cause he’s in the bed next to me – “
“- Hange, it’s me.” You cut them off, and they let out a ‘oh’. “I need you to go to my room and pick me up some of my clothes.”
“Oh, right! Wow, you must’ve had fun last night.” They giggled. “But I wouldn’t get into your room without a key.” Right. A key. That was in your purse. On the couch beside you.
“I’m too sick for this.” You groaned and rubbed at your temple. Beside you, Kenny grabbed something an placed it closer to you. One look at it told you it was headache pills. You popped two and downed them with water as Hange spoke to the ‘cutie’ they spent the night with.
“Why don’t I get you some clothes and then you can go do whatever the hell you need to at your hotel?” Kenny said after folding his paper aside. You frowned over at him.
“Is this you being nice?”
“We’re married, I kind of have to be nice to you. It’s in the description.”
“Okay so we have an idea. Do you have a bathrobe?” Hange asked.
“What?”
“You’ve got to get that key here so if you’re in a bathrobe – “
“Hey, don’t worry about it.” You said. “Kenny had an idea; we’ve got it sorted.”
“Oh, well okay good job.” Hange replied. “Nice to hear from you, we’ll see you soon yeah?” With that you said your goodbyes and hung up.
“Your friend sounds like great fun.” Kenny commented over the rim of a mug. You looked over at him, unsure whether to be unimpressed to indifferent. Maybe both.
“Coming to Vegas was their idea so this – “you held up you hand “– is technically their fault.” He hummed, eyeing the ring.
“We need to get you a new one of those, that’s not mine.” You hummed in surprise, sticking your hand out to admire it. “We can grab one while we’re getting you those clothes.”
“So, whose is it?”
“Uh, my nephew’s.” You quirked up an eyebrow as to ask for an explanation. “He’s getting married in like a week or something and the Vegas trip is his bachelor party.”
“What are you doing at your nephew’s bachelor party?”
“His friends think’s I am interesting.” He grinned at you. “But I bet it’s just so they can get more discounts with the extra person.”
You both leaned back, you snacking on the food available and him sipping his drink. The room lulled into silence, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Kenny was answering any question you threw at him, and as he seemed to have a much better recollection of last nights events and conversations, he had little to ask back. You concluded there was a lot more to ask, but for now you were content.
“Do you remember anything more about last night?” Kenny asked after a few moments.
“More than when I first woke up, but anything after the foyer downstairs is still lost.” He folded his arms across his chest and laughed to himself at that. “What?”
“Well, I’m hoping you’ll remember soon, and like it. Personally, it was my favorite part of the night, and if I was the only one to remember then it wasn’t really worth it.” If you could look more flustered, you would – but you doubted it. Kenny just kept going. “You were spread out so pretty for me. Felt real nice having you all to myself, looking like an angel and singing like a bird.”
“Okay, okay,” you rubbed at your eyes, “The meds haven’t kicked in enough for you to dirty talk me right now.” He quietened down after that, but when he spoke again it sure was a change of tone.
“I’ve never viewed marriage as something to be taken lightly, that’s probably why I’m – I was – unmarried still.” He said, looking at you. “But I know we’ve only just met so if you want to give this up then fine, I’m not stopping you. However, if you want to see if this, us can work, then…”
“You’ll work around it?”
“I’ll make it work.” You looked at him, as if trying to find his bluff, but came back with nothing. He smiled at you.
“Well alright.” You said, taking in a breath, and fully turning to him in your seat. “But my concern is still the clothes, so I’d like to get that sorted first if that’s okay.”
“Sure thing sweetheart.”

Pairing: Erwin Smith x Reader (Modern AU) Word Count: 2.6K Warnings: alcohol, age gap, flirtatious touching, implied sexual activities A/N: This is for @boston-bakedbeans’ Las Vegas Collab. Most of the details come from my trip to Las Vegas for CES 2020. Because of that, this feels like a more self-indulgent fic. (And I know the last line is cheesy. I just couldn’t resist!)
Tumblr media
It’s your first time in Las Vegas, and you can’t wait to leave.
As you collapse into a chair that’s more stylish than comfortable, one of many that line the crowded hallways of the convention center, you reluctantly admit that you’re probably not doing Sin City right.
Instead of hitting the casinos or taking in the sights, you’re spending your days at CES, one of the biggest tech events in the country. That, in itself, should be exciting.
But all you can think about is how crowded it is, how overwhelming it is, how lonely it is. You’ve watched groups of coworkers walk ahead of you through the exhibit halls and wished your workplace had sent at least one other person to keep you company.
And when your days are over and the nightlife consumes the town — all neon lights, loud, pulsing music, and tourists stumbling down the sidewalks, colorful drinks in hand — you hide away in your hotel room halfway up the iconic Luxor glass pyramid.
It’s nothing like the movies. You usually enjoy traveling for work, seeing places you never thought you would visit. And yet, the idea of exploring a city that never sleeps all by yourself has you longing for home in a way you never expected.
You’re scrolling through emails on your phone, idly listening to nearby conversations about blockchain and cryptocurrency, piezo actuators, wearable haptic interfaces, and what the South Hall food court is serving for lunch.
“Is this seat taken?”
Startled out of your stagnant thoughts, you look up to find a man standing beside you, pointing at the seat next to yours. He’s striking — tall and fit, with light blond hair and blue eyes. Dressed in a crisp, white button-down and charcoal pants, it would be easy to overlook him in a crowd.
Until you looked at his face, that is. He’s handsome. Very handsome.
Realizing you’ve likely been staring for too long, your cheeks warm as you shake your head. He simply smiles and sits down, setting his leather satchel on the floor. As he leans back, he sighs, those sky blue eyes drifting shut for the briefest moment before turning back to you.
“First time at CES?”
You huff out a laugh, still feeling embarrassed. “It’s that obvious, huh?”
He smiles again, more reassuring this time. “We’ve all been there. But it’s only the second day. It gets easier, I promise.”
You think back to yesterday, waiting to enter the main hall. Countless bodies pressed tight against one another, heads craned back and smartphones raised high in an effort to capture a photo or video or Facebook Live shot of the impressive array of flexible LED screens arcing above you, displaying footage of vibrant ocean life and lush, green jungles.
“You sure about that?” You give him a skeptical look, and he chuckles.
“Well, at the very least, you get used to it.” He leans forward and offers you his hand. “Erwin Smith.”
You tell him your name and try to ignore how nice his hand feels, large and warm. When he pulls away, he glances down at the badge hanging around your neck.
“So you’re an engineer?”
You frown and self-consciously touch the thick paper, printed at a busy kiosk and practically thrown at you immediately after you arrived at the airport. “Uh… No. I still need to find the right help desk to get a corrected one. I’m just a conference planner.”
When he raises an eyebrow, you clarify, “Not for this. God, no. This is… insane.” You go on to explain that you work for a mid-sized company that plans and hosts educational events in a variety of industries. It just so happens that your portfolio is rather tech-heavy.
As you speak, Erwin leans even closer, propping an elbow on his knee as he rests his chin on his hand. He seems genuinely interested in your work, even asking questions and nodding along with your answers.
Talking to someone — anyone — after two days of feeling like just another body in the crowd is such a relief. But more than that, talking to him feels easy, as if you’ve been doing it for years rather than minutes. You can feel the tension you’ve been carrying in your shoulders begin to ease as he tells you about his own job, managing the business development division of an R&D lab.
Soon enough, the two of you are continuing your conversation while wandering through the automotive exhibit hall, pausing now and then to look at self-driving cars and transportation innovations for smart cities. There’s almost too much to see, but to your surprise, you don’t feel so overwhelmed.
Erwin is intelligent and thoughtful, easily moving from one topic to the next while walking alongside you. When his hand brushes against the small of your back, guiding you away from a crowd of people waiting for a demonstration to start, your stomach does a little flip. And every time he smiles, it feels like lying in the sun, warm and comforting.
Hours later, the two of you head back towards the main doors. You plan to catch an Uber back to your hotel, while he’s on his way to meet up with some colleagues at the outdoor exhibit space. When you tell him you’re staying at Luxor, he looks pleasantly surprised.
“I’m over at Mandalay Bay.”
Recalling that the two hotels are connected by a small shopping center, you shake your head. “What a coincidence. I guess Vegas is a small world — or at least the Strip is.”
He stops and reaches into his bag, pulling out a business card. “The bottom one’s my cell number.” You swear he looks almost sheepish, glancing away as he says, “If you find yourself in the mood for late night pizza or something, let me know.”
“You won’t be out hitting the town?” you tease, and he rolls his eyes.
“Very funny. I’m too old for that.”
You scoff. “Impossible. What are you, 35?”
At that, he laughs, loud and sudden, and you can’t stop yourself from grinning. “Sorry, I wasn’t expecting that.” He gifts you with another warm smile. “42, actually.”
You nudge him with your elbow. What you say is, “Still young enough to party.” But what you think is that it shouldn’t be nearly as much of a turn on as it is, knowing he’s twelve years older than you.
Somehow, you manage to suppress your inappropriate thoughts and meet up with him that evening for the promised pizza. It’s nothing special. More of a tourist trap kind of place with cheap, greasy slices and strong drinks. But sitting in a small, cozy booth with him, now wearing a t-shirt and jeans rather than his work clothes, a pair of glasses resting on his slightly-crooked nose… It feels right.
As you banter back and forth and people watch through the windows overlooking the miniature mall, you realize that, for the first time since your plane landed on the tarmac, you’re actually enjoying your time here.
• • •
The next morning, Erwin walks over to Luxor and meets you at the Uber pickup point. You both agreed it made sense to share a ride to the Venetian, where you’ll be attending separate seminars for most of the morning.
You gave yourself a pep talk — or, really, some stern reminders — while getting dressed. He’s a friend. You only just met. Don’t make things weird.
But it’s easy to forget when the driver makes a hard right turn, and even with your seatbelt on, you find yourself leaning against Erwin’s broad shoulder. It’s hard to find the words to respond when he looks down at you and asks if you’re okay.
Or when the two of you exit the car and he somehow makes it around to your side before you can even reach for the handle, opening the door for you. Not to mention when you part ways and he briefly clasps your shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze as he suggests you meet up for lunch when your sessions are over.
As you sit in a stiff banquet chair and watch the first PowerPoint of the morning, a presentation on a wearable device that helps to regulate your body temperature, your mind wanders.
There’s no ring on Erwin’s finger. You’ve checked. And plenty of people have flings while out of town on work trips. It’s not unusual by any means. But you’ve never been a one-night stand kind of person. And Erwin… It’s silly, having only known him for a day. But he strikes you as the kind of man you settle down with, introduce to your family, take on domestic outings to the farmer’s market or garden center.
And as silly as it may be, you want that. It’s not the loneliness of Las Vegas hitting you hard. It’s the loneliness you’ve been feeling for a while now, the unwavering desire to finally find someone you connect with, who understands and accepts you completely.
You hardly know Erwin. You realize that. And yet…
That afternoon, as the two of you discuss your respective seminars over a shared plate of bruschetta at a restaurant overlooking the famed Venetian canals, you start speaking before you can talk yourself out of it.
“So, uh… It’s totally fine if you say no.” You shift in your seat, forcing yourself not to look away. “But I have an extra ticket to a show tonight — KÀ by Cirque du Soleil. I thought another coworker would be here, so I bought two… And if you’re not busy, maybe you could… go with me.”
Erwin smiles. “At the MGM Grand, right?” He pulls his phone from his pocket and opens his calendar app. “What time?”
You give him the details, and he says he’ll meet you there. On the way back to your hotel, alone since he had several meetings lined up at ARIA, you try not to replay the conversation over and over in your head.
But the way he had looked so excited, the feel of his hand briefly resting on your back before you parted ways outside the Venetian… It’s hard not to let it go to your head, those soft touches, the hints that maybe, just maybe, you’re not the only one feeling like this.
Later that evening, you wait in the theater lobby, holding a huge, boozy slushie one of the concessions workers had somehow talked you into buying. Erwin is ten minutes late, and it’s making you nervous. But when your phone buzzes with a text, you see that he’s on his way, just stuck in traffic.
Deciding to leave his printed ticket at the counter, you head inside, distracted from your worries as you marvel at the size of the theater, as well as the ushers’ dedication to their show-themed roles.
The one who leads you to your seat, in the front row to the right of the stage, introduces you to the very wholesome-looking family sitting next to you.
“These are the Millers,” he says with gusto, his faux accent thick, rolling the r with a trill. “They’re from Indiana!”
“That’s... great,” you say, trying to sound cheerful as you glance between them and the cup holder that is somehow too small to hold your enormous plastic cup.
The parents nod politely, until they’re distracted by another usher offering to take their photo. You sigh with relief and resist the urge to check your phone again. The show’s going to start soon. At least if Erwin bails on you, you can find solace and a hopefully-decent buzz in the sugary mistake now wedged between your thighs as you grapple with your purse.
You nearly jump out of your seat when a large hand settles on your arm, but the familiarity of it instantly eases you. “I’m so sorry.” Erwin’s frowning as he sits beside you, folding his tall frame into the small space. But he lets out a laugh when he sees your drink. “You know, I’ve always wanted to try one of those.”
You immediately offer it to him. “Please, have some. I don’t want to be the only one looking ridiculous tonight.”
He takes a long sip, his blue eyes fixed on you. When he licks his bottom lip, your heart nearly stops. “You don’t,” he murmurs. “Look ridiculous, I mean.” He glances away, rubbing the back of his neck as a voice comes on over the speakers, reminding the audience to keep the aisles clear and silence their phones.
The show is incredible, like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Both you and Erwin have to recline in your seats to see everything. But being in the front row has its perks. You can feel the heat of the flames on your face, see the actors’ expressions up close, and hear the drumbeats so loudly, the sound vibrates through you.
Halfway into the performance, the two of you have finished your shared drink and are leaning back, watching the acrobatics right above you. The thrill of it is heightened when Erwin’s hand touches yours, and when you turn your head to look at him, he’s already gazing at you, his smile soft and loosened with drink.
Your fingers find his, tracing them down to his knuckles and then ghosting over the back of his hand. It’s too loud to hear it, but you can see his breath catch, the sharp inhale as he turns his palm face up to meet your wandering wand, tentatively taking hold of it.
And there it stays, until the show has ended and the audience slowly begins to exit. You both sit there, unwilling to break the moment until you absolutely have to. But even then, as you walk side by side towards the parking deck, an Uber already on the way, his hand finds yours again.
It’s not until you’re standing outside Luxor that you tell him, “I don’t do… this. This isn’t…” You squeeze his hand, at a loss for words but hoping that, as with most things, he knows what you mean.
“Neither do I.” Erwin’s thumb rubs across your knuckles. “I don’t have any expectations, just to be clear. If we said goodnight here, it wouldn’t change anything — how I feel about you.”
Reassured by his words, you step closer, your skin slightly chilled in the January air. “And how do you feel about me?” you quietly ask.
He closes the distance between you, the hard planes of his body suddenly pressed against you, and you let out a small gasp. “I like you,” he murmurs. “More than I should, considering we only just met.” You see a hint of pink in his cheeks, and you smile at the sight.
“But I’m fascinated by you.” His hand lifts to caress your cheek, his touch gentle as he traces the line of your jaw with his fingertips. “Your intellect, your kindness…” He hesitates, gaze darkening. “Everything.”
Neither of you asks where this might go, what any of this means, not as you lead him up to your room, or as he pushes you against the door, kissing you with tender desperation. You’ll figure it out later.
And you do. You spend the few remaining days of the conference together, having lunch with his coworkers, visiting as many exhibit booths as you can, finding time to explore some of the famed sights of the city, staying up late, learning one another’s bodies with eager hands and mouths.
By the time you board your flight at the end of the week, you’ve already booked another — one that will take you to Seattle next month. Erwin is already making plans, texting you ideas of places to go and things to do together.
It’s his last text before takeoff, however, that leaves you smiling even brighter: a photo of the two of you in front of the Bellagio fountains.
You know what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But you’re more than happy to have found an exception to that rule.

Champion’s resurgence in the athletic scene hasn’t shown any signs of waning, giving a company celebrating 100 years the confidence that its growth trajectory will continue.
Whether a mixture of collaborations with the likes of Supreme, Undefeated, A Bathing Ape and Wood Wood to celebrities such as Chance the Rapper and Rihanna donning the gear, Champion’s reawakening moment has come amidst a renewed popularity of 1990s style. But with 100 years of history, Champion has moved well beyond the ‘90s style to grow the brand across multiple categories, whether introducing footwear or accessories, discovering new demographics through collaborations with retailers such as Urban Outfitters or breaking new style ground.
The ensuing growth trajectory has the brand confident. Susan Hennike, president North America, Champion, says she doesn’t expect the success to stop any time soon. “We believe it is ongoing,” she says. “We are being reintroduced to many people. We know it will continue.”
Champion nylon jacket lines offer both a heritage play and a modern take on the brand.
Today In:
Business
Champion, which saw 36 percent percent growth in 2018 versus 2017 and expects another 30 percent growth in 2019 on its way toward $2 billion in sales by 2022 (the brand has already neared $1.4 billion) saw trends, marketing, product and popularity all come together “very nicely” at the right time. But everything had a strategy behind it.
Even while ‘90s fashion has taken over popular culture fashion, Hennike says the broad reappearance of Champion is about more than a love of the ‘90s. The brand, now owned by Hanes, acquired back its license in Europe as it saw strong global growth in both Europe and Asia. At the same time, Champion homed in on a global positioning from marketing to product to design to serve craft an ethos of an “authentic American athletic wear” company while introducing itself to a younger consumer through collaborations across the world with some of the hottest streetwear brands available. Add in some timely seeding opportunities with celebrities — these nonpaid opportunities simply encouraged celebrities to wear product gifted them, which then found its way to social media —and everything has “worked really well for us.”
“It has introduced us to a new consumer base with a younger consumer,” Hennike says. “We have embraced the fact that we have a long-standing heritage and truly great momentum happening globally.”
Creating new product has moved Champion beyond heritage-only fashion.
Borrowing on something already popular outside of North America, Champion recently opened its first-ever brick-and-mortar stores, now with six across the United States from Los Angeles to New York City and Chicago to Boston, with the newest in Las Vegas opening in August 2019. Hennike calls the effort the latest in a direct-to-consumer model that allows them to tell a brand story exactly the way they want while creating customization experiences. “They have been a wonderful opportunity to showcase the brand and have consumers interact with the brand,” she says. “The best part is the ability to have customization. Building that experience at retail was important.”
With continued momentum, Champion has now embarked on its first-ever global campaign, all celebrating 100 years as a brand — Champion started as the Knickerbocker Knitting Company by the Feinbloom brothers in 1919 before renaming in the 1930s to Champion Knitting Mills Inc. to highlight their work outfitting college sports teams with uniforms — with the concept celebrating history while moving forward. To that end, Champion has embraced new design opportunities and fresh products to show the breadth of the brand.
The introduction of footwear over the last year has been one focus, both borrowing on current fashion trends and giving future-looking concepts a try. “In the athletic business, head-to-toe is important,” Hennike says about offering footwear and accessories. “We continue to drive the total outfit message and deliver in trend the right products in what consumers are asking for from us. That is what we are doing to grow the brand and bring relevance.”
The reverse-weave fleece remains a staple of the Champion line, now coupled with footwear for a ... [+]
The introduction of the Rally footwear in 2018 proved popular enough it has turned into a franchise for Champion with the Rally Hype in fall 2019. The fall release of the Tank Sneaker model offers something singular for the brand. Champion has done well with slides, which debuted in 2018, and a women’s line that came out in spring 2019. It has already started the expansion into hats, bags and other accessories.
When it comes to creating new product, everything starts from a “Champion brand positioning,” Hennike says. “When we are working with the design, we bring it all together and ensure there is some connection that goes back to who Champion is,” she says. “We want to make sure it is all connected, from fabrication to logo execution, we have to make sure it looks brand right. When we come together and look for an opportunity for a category outside apparel, we want to connect it to apparel.”
The New York-based design studio does remain rooted in the 100-year history, with designers looking back at the athletic history, but not resting on that. “We push our research and development, push innovations,” Hennike says, “but design goes back and looks at some of the innovations and product silhouettes over the last years.”
The Champion style has diversified into a variety of product segments.
The Champion product roster looks different than that of other brands hoping to make a ‘90s-inspired resurgence. With the long-standing heritage and the popularity in differing segments of the market, Champion has simply enlarged its products and demographic reach. One of the brand’s key strategies is to use the Hanes manufacturing system, with 80 percent of the company’s manufacturing happening in their own supply chain, to quickly bring to market fully segmented product channels.
Hennike says they understand that in order to grow, they need to build premium or more elevated channel segmentation in the market, crafting product based on distribution. Maybe that means a new collaboration to find a fresh Champion consumer at a new point of purchase or maybe that means continued efforts at sportswear retailers or university bookstores, but Hennike says the market automatically segments itself and Champion wants to embrace that fact. “A collaboration, price point or product might resonate different in Dick’s versus Urban Outfitters,” she says. “Having the DNA of Champion, we are definitely looking at product segmentation and build special product within those channels.”
The Hanes model helps make it happen, as Champion can leverage and build efficiencies by controlling their own supply chain. The full visibility into the manufacturing process keeps the brand competitive by offering manufacturing flexibility with facilities in markets across the world, including Central America, and allowing them to bring product to market quicker.
Classic Champion style.
By reasserting itself across multiple market segments, Champion aims to grow the same way, through multiple channels. Whether leaning into its long history in athletics, from outfitting NBA and Olympic basketball teams in the past to supporting major college athletics for decades at a time, Champion already has a place in university bookstores and Dick’s Sporting Goods. The introduction of physical stores expands on its online presence while creating new consumer experiences. A critical partnership with Urban Outfitters moved the brand into a fresh demographic and collaborations give the brand visibility in new spaces.
“We love collaborations, but we have to be very strategic and want to make sure we are leading with Champion as the brand,” Hennike says. “When thinking about a premium collection, it would be under a Champion label and we want people to know we can stand on our own. When looking at different collaborations, it might be with a brand with a long history in another category that compliments something Champion is. We will still do (collabs), but be very, very strategic and mainly build on product under the Champion label.”
Even as Champion continually introduces new lines of product, it will always enjoy its history with the reverse-weave fleece, from hoodies to joggers. But Champion doesn’t have to rest solely on the fleece, using its 100-year history to highlight other key distinguishing factors, from the nylon coach’s jacket to being one of the first companies to create mesh uniforms, even if the reverse-weave hoodie has proven one of the richest parts of the Champion portfolio since the 1930s.
Collaborations and fashion-focused lines offer Champion a unique approach in additional product ... [+]
“We love fleece and appreciate it and continue to elevate it, but we have a lot of history with other material fabrication and silhouettes we want to bring back in a modern way,” Hennike says. “People love those just as much.”
As Champion celebrates 100 years by moving forward, expect more firsts, from fresh sneakers to a new fall line of outerwear to additional collaborations. Champion doesn’t view the current growth as a simple resurgence, but a continued building of momentum.

best hydrafacial near me
Somewhere withinside the world,  best hydrafacial near me a HydraFacial is achieved each 15 seconds. Don't even attempt to do the math: This basically quantities to two million remedies given globally closing yr alone. That's extra than the full range of Botox injections administered withinside the U.S. in . This is a facial, human beings. A FACIAL. Aiming to similarly amplify its mega following, the corporation simply kicked off a summer time season excursion of sorts. From May thru October, the HydraFacial Treatment Truck, which converts right into a relaxed spa, could be presenting loose remedies at diverse pit stops throughout the country, inclusive of Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and extra (the entire agenda is on hydrafacialnation.com.) Catch it if you could, because the provider by and large averages around $two hundred in spas and doctors' offices. For the few closing human beings nonetheless strange with the HydraFacial, here is the deal: It's a "medical-grade hydradermabrasion tool that consists of out a patented 3-element regimen — cleansing, exfoliating, after which infusing pores and skin with in depth serums," explains Sameer Bashey, a scientific teacher in dermatology on the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Back up: Hydradermabrasion? Yep. Rather than blasting the pores and skin with grit, à los angeles conventional dermabrasion, this gentler method vacuums out pores whilst concurrently pushing in effective actives, which moisturize, brighten, plump, and protect. The machine's handpiece holds patented spiralized remedy pointers ready with "vortex technology" — the whirling pressure that each giveth and taketh away. Beyond the same old 3 steps, there are focused upload-ons, or boosters, which take goal at specific pores and skin concerns, like brown spots or nagging lines. Further raising its profile, HydraFacial has lately teamed up with superbrands like SkinCeuticals and ZO Skin Health — having technicians contain key merchandise without delay into the scripted process, or sending sufferers away with precise kits to apply among facials to decorate the advantages and upload a bespoke experience to the complete enjoy. Notable dermatologists, like Anne Chapas, a scientific teacher of dermatology on the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and Zoe Diana Draelos, a consulting professor of dermatology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, have even performed scientific trials on those branded amplifiers — Chapas weaving diverse SkinCeuticals' formulation into the procedure, and Draelos having topics bolster a chain of HydraFacials with a multifaceted ZO domestic protocol. Their consequences display the whole thing from spikes in hydration and radiance, to progressed firmness and texture, and discounts in oil and pore size. Next up is a HydraFacial x ColoreScience collab, primarily based totally on a remedy known as Total Eye 3-in-1 Therapy, launching overdue summer time season 2018. Here, main dermatologists weigh in on exactly what makes this facial one of these phenomenon. It appeals to almost all ages, complexions, and concerns "This is exceptional for young adults with acne; adults with pimples, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation; and for older sufferers with solar harm or even flaky pre-cancerous spots (as a part of extra critical remedies)," says Ellen Marmur, an accomplice scientific professor in each the branch of dermatology and the branch of genetics and genomic studies on the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. While it wins exact factors for inclusivity, there are a few who must abstain — particularly people with energetic rashes, sunburns, or rosacea, at the side of pregnant sufferers, as "a number of the elements used for the duration of the HydraFacial, which includes salicylic acid, have not been examined and verified secure for the duration of pregnancy," explains Arash Akhavan, an assistant scientific professor in dermatology on the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The enjoy and consequences are super-constant Whether you get Hydra-ed at a swanky Park Avenue plastic surgeon's workplace or a suburban strip-mall medspa, you are guaranteed "a high-tech facial that promises constant consequences, as it's now no longer as technician-dependent [as other kinds of facials,] so that you can anticipate it time and time again," says Shereene Idriss, a scientific teacher in dermatology on the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Equally predictable: the protection factor. "Many dermatologists are cautious of presenting conventional facials withinside the workplace, as consequences can vary, with a few sufferers getting pretty inflamed, or maybe scarring from overly competitive techniques, however the HydraFacial is constantly secure and effective," says Akhavan. Extractions with out facet effects How typically have you ever informed a facialist to pass the extractions for worry of redness or next-day eruptions (or really because, duh, they harm like hell, and...is not this speculated to be relaxing?)? HydraFacial has a strict no-torture policy: "It's one of the maximum famous techniques in our workplace, now no longer most effective as it combines factors of workhorse remedies, like microdermabrasion and chemical peels, however additionally as it clearly is a relaxing, experience-properly enjoy," says Akhavan. "It's in no way painful — in fact, sufferers examine the feeling to a mild massage." By combining vortex strain with a clog-purging answer of salicylic acid, willow bark extract, and anti inflammatory Tasmanian pepper, "the tool suctions gunk from pores — no squeezing or urgent required — and, on the end, you could honestly see all that become removed, which human beings appear to like," says Tresa Acosta, an aesthetician at Marmur Medical.

Thrashed: K&K + Sacred Reich
What up everyone! Just shooting everyone a quick link to Journal that is now up at the K&K site.  Again, this isn’t really a "General Journal" but there is so much story in these last 3 “Thrashed" collabs, that it feels like a TGJ, because it’s basically a General Journal with pictures! Of course feel free to disregard. But here is a sampling, and if you like what you see, read on. https://killersandkings.com/collections/thrashed ------------------------ What up! Robb here: I am super excited to announce the final installment of the Killers & Kings + Thrash collaboration called “Thrashed” with three of my favorite 80's thrash bands: Destruction, Forbidden, and Sacred Reich. In this Journal I’m going to talk to you about how this “limited edition” Sacred Reich collab happened, why I felt strongly about doing a collab with these bands, and walk you through the various stages the design went through to meld the Sacred logo with the Killers & Kings logo. *I talked about this in the previous Destruction and Forbidden Journals, so skip down a few paragraphs if you already read it.* One of the main reasons that I decided to do a Killers & Kings + Thrash collaboration was that I recently went to a streetwear convention in Las Vegas with my buddy Dom Deluca who owns an old school/legit skateboard/streetwear shop on Melrose called Brooklyn Projects. While walking through the convention we came a cross a streetwear company whose name I can't remember, (nor would I even want to promote), who had various flyers from 80s thrash and punk shows all over their booth. At first I was really stoked to see this, I was like "wow, a place that gets where Dom and I came from" But as I started talking to the people at the company, they clearly had no clue about any of it. In fact the guy straight up told me "yeah these are cool flyers right? We downloaded them off of The Google!”. Fuck that. And while I "get it"… I was kinda pissed that they were taking the culture that I grew up in, (and in some small way contributed to), and we're just using it to sell their brand. Dom called ‘em Culture Vultures. I walked away thinking, I want to do the collaboration with these bands and actually have it be from an authentic place. With the people that were there at the beginning of it, from people that contributed to it, and put it out to the world as a “limited edition”, premium shirt, with a rich, 14-color layout that stayed as true to the original art as is possible via modern screenprinting methods today. It was an epic undertaking, I reached out to several bands, (some of whom unfortunately declined after we created some really amazing artwork) but all 3 bands involved happily signed off on the collaboration. And all of the bands involved in this collab have been paid to use their artwork. The second K&K / Thrash “limited edition” collab shirt I’m releasing is Forbidden - Forbidden Evil. *** I met the Sacred guys back in 1988 when my previous band Vio-Lence stared touring. I believe Phil was friends with their singer Phil Rind and they would always come hang at the Phoenix shows.  I can clearly remember driving in our van listening to the debut Sacred album and being way stoked on the song "Death Squad" which began with one of the heaviest riffs of it's time. So we're on our first U.S. tour, 5 band members, plus our manager Debbie Abono and co-manager/soundman/roadie/light guy/ bug-collector-extroidinaire (and future-MH-manager) Joseph Huston driving all across America in a cargo van.  7 people, all our gear and luggage packed in to the van (no trailer) drums tied to top of the van with cheap rope.  Life was good, we got a solid break, we did our first tour of the U.S opening for Testament. Ya gotta remember...back in '88 there was no cell phones, no internet, no social media to keep us distracted, if you wanted to talk to your girlfriend you had to call her from a payphone pumping in an endless stream of quarters, but if you didn't have any money...  What we did have was music... specifically, cassette tapes. We would play a show, load our gear in the van, maybe play some pool, try and talk a girl into a blowjob, and if that didn't work... a beer, if that didn't work... well, McDonalds would do.  At first I wasn't old enough to be in some bars, so I had to wait in the van more than a few nights.  Once the show was over it was just another long overnight drive to the next town, and whoever drove, controlled the stereo.   Sometimes we'd drive halfway, crash out in a Motel 6 for a few, then drive the rest of the way in the morning. Deen, Phil and I drove the most, as well as Joseph (who we called Joey back then, and I still call Joe to this day), and on those tired nights driving it was always music that carried us through.  In fact, when you're driving all that time, the band we were listening to had better have good "driving songs" or your cassette might get thrown out the window.  Motorhead's - Best Of "No Remorse" got A LOT of play, and SR's - "Ignorance" and "Surf" did as well. I remember us catching them at The Channel in Boston later that year, and they were just killing it.  KILLING IT!  The Channel was PACKED, and people were loving this band, they played "Surf Nicaragua" and the place went NUTS... I mean NUTS!  It was a straight up Thrash Smash!  If I'm honest, a 20-year-old Robb Flynn was tad jealous. But ya know what... they had captured a moment, and when music works best, it channels the times. Not to mention, what a combination of words to make into a song!!  "Surf Nicaragua"??!!  Somehow it worked!   It felt new, they from a new area (Phoenix), their singer Phil always had an interesting take on the world, he was a smart dude with cool political lyrics, and of course, a massive pro-weed stance which I thought was great. I caught 'em at the Omni in Oakland a few times, most memorably when they co-headlined with Sepultura on the wonderfully titled "New Titans On The Block Tour" (a not-so-subtle dig at the Clash Of The Titans tour featuring Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth) By the time "Independent" came around a few years later (now on a major label with major push), they seem poised to take over the world. Little did I know, what a strange and interesting thread Sacred Reich would weave into my life.  As many of you know, Dave McClain was in Sacred, he joined them on their "Independent" album. I always loved the title track, goddamn what a hook! Machine Head even worked on this tune for a covers album that we had contemplated but never came out.  Check him out in the video below and see what a svelte, long-haired, greyhound-like Dave McClain looked like back in 1993 in the Mark Pellington (Pearl Jam - Jeremy) directed video for the title track. 3 years later Dave would join Machine Head, and the rest is history.  It's never lost on me, the journey this band has played, in my musical career. I reached out to singer Phil Rind, and he was way down for this collab.  Sacred have just gotten active again, and are gearing up for a U.S. tour in the Fall which encourage all of you to check out. **Read the rest of the story here: https://killersandkings.com/collections/thrashed

BMTH drop lyric video for Wonderful Life ft. Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth
I have no idea what is going on anymore and I couldn’t be happier to be confused as fuck.
I mean it says Dani is singing, I can’t tell what the fuck. Is Jordan harmonizing, that’s not Oli. I mean maybe at points it’s Oli? Or is it all Dani? For fucks sake. I love how confusing this all is. Oli recently quoted in saying this record was going to be all Pop, then release a new song with Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth? Maybe it’s the stoner in me, but I love it when artists fuck with their fans. Now it comes out the song was originally written for a Limp Bizkit record. I mean, I get it. Artists collaborate all the time, but from what I heard it wasn’t much of a collab as it was Oli and Jordan writing a song and Fred Durst being aloof and absent in the process. I can only imagine it’s hard for a highly creative person like Wes Borland to take advice on production from anyone, the man is a fucking genius. Then again, he still is in Limp Bizkit so he can’t be the smartest. I kid. Anyway, check out the insane lyric video for Wonderful Life by Bring Me The Horizon featuring Dani Filth of Cradle of Filth. Also, you’re welcome for the gif.
