HELLO LOVELY! I saw your tank top thingy and am now inclined to request this. Could you do a fem. s/o that wears nightgowns to bed for dazai, ranpo, and fyodor? bonus points if you add your favorite characters :)
Now im not talking about those skimpy, lacy, lingerie ones. nono, im talking about the long vintage ones. kinda like in peter pan, what wendy was wearing, but white. think cottage-core vibes.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/955248247/vintage-white-women-long-nightgown-lace
you don't have to do this if you dont want to! but just remember, have fun! and stay hydrated! ❤️
GOOD DAY!! This is a very interesting req anon! I quite like it! I’d be lying if I said I never wanted one of these nightgowns that you’re referring to lmao. They’re just so graceful and pretty 💖💖 also you're very sweet thank you!
Reader who sleeps in a nightgown
Tumblr media
♡ pairing: Dazai Osamu, Ranpo Edogawa, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Mykola Hohol, Edgar Allan Poe x fem!Reader
♡ synopsis: How do these boys react to a reader who wears a nightgown to sleep?
♡ cw: A couple of naughty words, suggestive behaviour (goddamnit Dazai and Fyodor specifically)
note: You said I could add faves so I threw Mykola and Poe in there for the funsies (was gonna put Oda too but I could not think of anything for this poor guy I'm sorry) 🌸 Apologies for errors, hope you enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Dazai:
At first he probably teases you and says you look like a curtain or a ghost or something T-T
But he's not a complete jerk. He does think you look like an angel and he tells you as much eventually (I feel like he would lowkey be into old-fashioned romantic stuff sometimes especially if it involves you wearing a pretty nightgown <3)
Constantly quizzing you on how you're able to comfortably wear something like this to sleep because to him it looks kind of uncomfortable? When you try to tell him that it's fine and you think it looks pretty he drops the subject but lowkey still worries about it
Plays with your sleeves or the skirt of the nightgown while he's lying next to you
From then on if you guys ever watch old fashioned movies ft. women who wear similar nightgowns, he always points it out. He's like 'That's like the one you have! You look better in it though'
He's a charmer for sure this guy
Though he does think you look lovely, he is still a bit of a pervert. It's rather possible Dazai might try to feel you up through the nightgown. Damnit Dazai
Ranpo:
Ranpo is honestly probably a little confused at first. Like this is the 21st century, why are you wearing this?
THAT BEING SAID he is actually rather happy to sleep with you while you're wearing an old-fashioned nightgown. It's like being wrapped in your own little silky blanket!
He fiddles with it when he's bored and rubs his face against it just because he's kinda weird like that (lovingly)
Probably asks Yosano/Fukuzawa about it because let's be real, as smart as Ranpo is he doesn't understand why you would wanna cover yourself in so much fabric when you go to sleep (autistic things 2.0 <3)
Otherwise he does think you look very elegant. He also thinks it's cute that you care so much about always looking nice even if you're just hanging out in bed with him
But at the same time he's like 'Well how are you supposed to eat snacks in bed if you're wearing something that isn't supposed to get dirty??/??????????'
Actually does make an effort to not get any crumbs on you though because he knows that you care about your nightgowns <3
Fyodor:
He already thinks of you as an angel- so why not look like one too?
Fyodor is relatively old fashioned (at least in my head), so he's happy with what you've chosen to wear. It's mature and modest, but it's also so ~pretty~ that he can't keep his hands off you
Somewhere in his fucked up little brain spouts a twinge of possessiveness because you're just so enchanting and you look so innocent! Why should anyone else get to see you in your undergarments (even though it's basically a dress)? They shouldn't, end of story
Tbh he probably gets turned on if he thinks about it too long -_-
Fyodor sometimes likes to fondly watch you while you're sleeping, so the nightgown really adds cuteness points for him
He's always praising you for looking beautiful even in your sleep- probably compares you to Sleeping Beauty because he's messed up like that <3
He always holds you gently while you two sleep and presses soft kisses to your neck because that's like the only part of you he can access lol
Overall he acts very calm but is lowkey just a little TOO into it
Mykola:
Mykola is so dramatic about it. He's like 'MY EYES HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY AN ETHEREAL BEAUTY FROM THE HEAVENS' or something else dumb like that
But the thing is, he actually means that. He's just very theatre kid-esque in his delivery which makes it seem like a mockery lol
He just thinks you look so cute! He spins you in his arms and pinches your cheeks
Asks you to give him a couple twirls in the same way that your mother does when you're trying on a new outfit
I believe that 'yangoliatka' is a term of endearment in Ukrainian that means 'angel'? If so then he would ABSOLUTELY call you that (I'm so sorry if that's wrong- I don't speak Ukrainian T-T)
Picks you up bridal style 'to practice' because you kinda do look vaguely like a bride. When you get shy he just laughs (menace behaviour)
You know those noir films with those really drawn out but trying-to-be-romantic sex scenes (where the girl inevitably wears one of those fancy nightgowns?) Yeah he'd try to recreate one of those because he thinks it's funny
Poe:
Yeah uh. He was absolutely the one who bought it for you in the first place.
He's just an old-school romantic boy and thought you would look beautiful in a nightgown! (spoiler: he was right)
Poe thinks you are ethereal, gorgeous, stunning, exquisite, graceful, elegant, ravishing, all of the above
In short he's totally enamoured with you and lets you know how beautiful you look even though you are wearing pyjamas
He's a gentleman and asks if you're alright with him cuddling you in case he creases it or something (plus he's also very much content to just sit beside you and admire you)
His heart is beating so fast as he pulls you into his arms because in his head is probably some insane paranoia about how perfect you are and how unworthy he is or something
He probably starts spilling all this poetic prose about how you outshine all of the beautiful women in history (y'know like Aphrodite, Cleopatra, Helen, and also Annabel and Lenore duhh)
He will be buying you more of these in different colours and styles for sure
Tumblr media
Before anyone comes at me- yes I am doing the asks out of order. Sometimes ideas come to me much faster for one prompt than they do for the other, but I promise I am doing my best to complete all of them. Also imagine being Poe’s sugar baby awhhh maybe I should write it

my suspension of disbelief is suspended like mykola's (nikolai's) body in the new DoA color spread. he has such insane core strength! it's impressive enough being able to support all your body weight with a one handed bar hang, but he somehow manages to do that and position himself in a way that looks like he's casually sitting on air...? there's no visible tension in his body, he looks very relaxed... this guy is strong far beyond average, what the fuck. he has to be ripped underneath that outfit. think about the (delusional) implications here!
Tumblr media
what is his workout routine. seriously. I want him to drop it.
for references:
this is how harukawa explains how he's holding himself up (image attached below for those who can't open the link):
Tumblr media
and this is a video with a guy recording himself doing the bar hang with one hand for over 2 minutes. skip to around 7 minutes into the video, and you can see him try to adjust the rest of his body to a posture about halfway to the one in the color spread (albeit more realistic and nowhere as casual; this guy's grip slips and he falls shortly after).

I'll be honest, making The Path To Freedom made me want to implement writing into my art more often (even if it's something as short and simple as this) to explore more ideas around Fyodor and Mykola, so expect more of that in the future xD
This time I was given a little visual inspiration by Arabella🤭

♡ pairing: Fyodor Dostoyevsky x gn!Reader x Mykola Hohol
♡ synopsis: Fyodor decides to sleep in with you and Mykola.
♡ wc: 1.2k
♡ cw: None! Fluffy! (Fedya and Kolya do tickle you for a sec but it's supposed to be cute)
note: I got this idea from um nothing in particular. No I was not inspired while roleplaying a romantic scenario with AI versions of the characters, I can't believe you would ever think that. Also reader works with Fyodor and Mykola (work isn't specified but like...I guess they're a member of the DOA lol) Apologies for errors.
Tumblr media
Fyodor Dostoyevsky was a busy man. Such was a consequence of being a crucial part of multiple criminal organisations. Technically, you and Mykola were in the same boat, but you weren't the ones planning and coordinating absolutely everything from behind the scenes. These circumstances led to a tight schedule for Fyodor, meaning he unfortunately didn't have a generous amount of free time like the two of you did.
You were never bored around Mykola- you weren't sure if that was even possible- but over time you grew more and more dissatisfied with Fyodor's absence. All you wanted was to spend some down time with the both of them. You missed the small things, like the quick pecks you'd give the two of them before leaving your home, or even just mundane conversations you shared in your spare time.
One morning, as was generally the case, Fyodor was the first to rise from his slumber. Sitting up in your shared bed and slowly stretching his arms, he glanced down at you and Mykola with a smile. You both appeared to be sound asleep still, or at least that's what the rhythmic breathing emanating from your parted lips indicated.
Fyodor stared at the wall in front of him, momentarily dissociating as he ran a hand through his raven black hair, a little tangled from his sleep. Before long though, he shook his head and noted he'd have to look into that; it had been happening more and more these days. For now he ought to get out of bed and quickly freshen up.
Suddenly, though, he felt a small pull, and turned to find your barely conscious figure glancing up at him with heavy eyes.
"...don't wanna get up..." you mumbled, tugging at Fyodor's shirt. "C'mon, Fedya..."
To be fair to you, it's not as if you could really move. Behind you was Mykola, whose arms were tightly wrapped around your torso as he slept. His chest was flush against your back, and you could feel his warm, consistent breathing on your collarbone. Though you were still half-asleep with a clouded mind, you were still adamant on achieving your goal; getting Fyodor to sleep in with the two of you.
"My dear, you know I can't stay here-"
"Fedya...!" You whined with a tired frown. "You're always outta bed by the time we get up. And I miss you."
"I have work to do, myshka."
"Screw your work," You muttered, irritably. "We are more important than work. Do you love work more than us? How could you do that, Fedya..."
You trailed off as you closed your eyes again, fingers still gripping the hem of his shirt. He placed his hand atop yours, and you yawned.
"You know that isn't true," he answered calmly, knowing that your frustration was a result of your fatigue. You weren't the type to accuse him of something you knew was false and he knew it.
"So please, then? Please...?" You continued, lazily making grabbing motions towards your black-haired partner.
"...you are both frustratingly endearing," he sighed. You poked his arm, his cold, pale skin barely deterring you by this point in your relationship.
"Mhm...sleep, Fedya..." You attempted to pull his arm closer in order to get him to tuck himself back under the sheets. "Please?"
Fyodor sat still for a moment, before letting out a relenting exhale and giving you a smile.
"...alright, myshka." In response, you gave his arm a squeeze of appreciation and smiled back at him. His form was shadowy, the sun shining through the translucent curtains behind him. To anyone else he might have looked somewhat frightening, but it was different for you. There was affection for you in his gaze.
"Mm..." You heard a quiet groan and felt a small vibration against your neck. "...morning, Dove..."
"Hi, Kolenka." You let out a quiet giggle, moving your hand to place it in his snow-white hair. "Guess who's here with us?"
"...hm?" He buried his head further into the crook of your neck and planted a few kisses. "What's happening?"
"Open your eyes!" You encouraged, turning to face him. He lifted his head up to open his eyes and meet yours, before noticing the man on your other side.
"...Dos-kun?"
"Good morning, Kolya." Fyodor smiled, his magenta eyes creasing so slightly. "Did you sleep well?"
"...Dos...!" Still half out of it, Mykola reached his hand over you to touch Fyodor. In his sluggish movement, all he did was lazily paw at Fyodor's stomach, but he was clearly happy to see his second beloved still in bed. Fyodor chuckled, taking Mykola's hand and pressing a chaste, soft kiss to his palm. You watched the scene with your lips upturned, still a little too lazy to grin all the way.
"Perhaps I should sleep in more often?" Fyodor mused. "You two are so sweet while half-asleep."
"Uh-huh..." You absentmindedly agreed as Mykola's body weight pressed against yours, his hand still in Fyodor's. "So stay."
"I am staying, my dears," he reassured you. "Just for today, though."
"Yay..." Mykola replied, sleepily. Fyodor chuckled and laid back down, positioning himself in front of you. You happily buried your face into his cool chest while he wrapped his arms around you and took Mykola's hand in his. The two were effectively caging you with their bodies, but you didn't mind at all.
"Warm..." You muttered contentedly. While Mykola hummed in agreement, Fyodor let out a small, amused snicker. "We should do this more often. It's nice."
"It is nice, yes," Fyodor replied. "Hm...perhaps this type of relaxation is just what I've been needing."
"You're welcome, Dos-kun," Mykola teased as he narrowed his eyes. "It took you a while to realise how lovely and therapeutic we are."
"He's been too busy being scary..." you yawned, and Mykola chuckled. Fyodor sighed in exasperation, though you could still see the corners of his lips upturned.
"Do you find me scary, myshka?"
"No, you're like a tiny baby kitten to me." Fyodor raised an eyebrow at that. You countered with a devious grin.
"Nooo, Y/N, Dos-kun is scary...!" As he cooed with a carefree lilt to his voice, Mykola pinched your side. You yelped in surprise.
"Hey, what the hell?" He didn't answer; he just let out a chuckle and tickled you more. You began laughing and shuffling about in bed trying to pry his fingers off your waist. Fyodor laid before you both, watching in amusement. "H-help me, Fedya!"
Fyodor did reach out, but it was not to help you. There was a reason he was known as a devil. There was nothing you could do besides fruitlessly writhe around while Fyodor and Mykola both tickled you in such a manner that made you wonder if they'd planned it. The two always seemed so in sync, but that wasn't always a good thing. Especially not now. Regardless, the three of you were all laughing in unison- yours a little more raucous than the others.
When they finally relented, you quickly wiggled your way out of the blanket and sat on top of it, legs crossed so you could quickly leap away should the two demons decide to strike a second time.
"You're both the worst!" You panted, earning a giggle from Mykola.
"You love us though," he grinned deviously, and it was true. You really, truly did love them.

Parallels between Bungou Stray Dogs and Divine Comedy
I believe that in the current chapters Asagiri is purposely sneaking in parallels to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. This post will cover the similarities and possible references between bsd's current arc and that book. At first I thought the Meursault prison corresponds to Hell, but now I believe it's actually Purgatory.
Introduction
Similarities
Final thoughts
Divine Comedy (in which the author - Dante - made himself the main character) talks about one's path to breaking free from sin and their growth as a person. It's divided into three parts: Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. During the first two parts, Dante's guide is Virgil (Beatrice comes at the end of Purgatory). In Hell they're going downwards, to the lower circles; in Purgatory they're going upwards, to the higher terraces.
The difference between those two places is that in Hell the souls are suffering endless tortures for their sins, meanwhile in Purgatory they're atoning for them and will eventually leave that place. Depending on what we think is more similar to what's happening in the Meursault prison, we could either interpret it as Hell or Purgatory.
As I said, I believe that it's Purgatory, as the characters are going up, starting from the lowest floor, and that journey helps them (Sigma and Dazai) to grow as a person.
When it comes to Fyodor, I'm not so sure. His goal is to get rid of the abilities, which he compares to a sin. This point acts more as an argument for the Meursault prison, or even his arc overall, to be Hell (not that it's like Hell for him, but more like that's how he thinks of the current events other characters are going through), as his idea of making the ability users free of the the sin is killing them and that's nothing like Purgatory. One could argue tho, that it is similar to the latter, because he wants to release the people from the sin, his idea how to do it and methods are just different.
Tumblr media
His character and ability are based on Crime and Punishment and that's literally what Dante's Hell is - endless punishment for one's sins. Moreover, Fyodor sees himself as the God's subordinate and Divine Comedy talks about the souls' sufferings because of their wrongdoings to God. It also talks about Dante's path to getting closer to God (metaphorically and literally), and Fyodor thinks of himself as someone between God and the people.
This analysis won't focus on him, but I wanted to point out the (important) religious themes in both of the stories.
What's also interesting is that Dazai and Fyodor (as the most dangerous ability users) had their cells located on the lowest level - similarly to Hell, where the worst people, traitors, were at the lowest ring. Although Dazai is a traitor to the PM, I don't think he parallels those from Dante's work, as they were meant to symbolize that betrayal is bad, but Asagiri shows that what Dazai did was good for him. They correspond to them in their "lack" of humanity and various commited crimes.
Now more of the similarities!
1. Briareus
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purgatory, Canto XII; bsd chapter 98
The prison officer's nickname is "Hundred ability Briareus". In Greek mythology Briareus is one of the Hundred-Handers, who helped Zeus and the Olympians to overthrow the Titans.
Quick comparison to bsd: while bsd! Briareus gets killed by a person who's "working" for a prisoner, og Briareus eventually becomes a guard of those he was fighting against.
Briareus is also a character in Divine Comedy. He has two appearances: in Hell he's a giant inhabitating the Ninth Circle; in the first terrace of Purgatory he's one of the giants whose sin was pride. I'll focus on the latter, as it's more similar to the scene from chapter 98.
Dante's Briareus is a sympol of pride and bsd!Briareus says how powerful he is. Moreover, they're both more or less carved into the ground / wall (Dante's Briareus as a form of penance, bsd!Briareus by Chuuya's ability) of the first terrace / floor.
That would mean the Meursault prison is our Purgatory.
(more under the cut)
That scene also reminds me of the beginning of the Fifteen light novel, where Chuuya is really confident in his ability and makes fun of PM for being weak - interesting how he's the one to meet and kill Briareus (in Divine Comedy the meetings help Dante to become free of the sins). Also, the PM member from Fifteen is rather scared of Chuuya and shows him no respect, as opposed to the prison officer.
2. Flames and separation
In Canto XXVII, so almost at the end of Purgatory, Dante has to go through the flames in order to go to Paradise. Virgil can't come with him, as he's not Christian. Instead, he encourages Dante and reminds him of his free will.
In chapter 106.5 Sigma and Dazai also are in a situation involving flames, and even tho none of them actually go through them, they split up - Dazai doesn't leave the lift. Just like Dante and Virgil.
That, and the fact that a big part of Sigma's character is about being used (so not having free will) makes me believe they're paralleling Dante, making Dazai Virgil, their guide through the prison.
Sigma is in the process of finding themselves - similarly to Dante, who with the help of Virgil learns truths about love, good and bad, etc. This heavily reminds me of the conversation from chapter 105.5 about why Dazai chose them and his relationship with ADA.
Here's a comparison of their conversations:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Dante goes through the flames and leaves Virgil, he sees the march of the Church, and Sigma may find Fyodor in the next chapters. Moreover, Beatrice says the Church is divided and sinful. The people are going into the direction of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (the tree that Eve and Adam got their apple from). Fyodor's view on the world really fits that description, take dead apple and the manifestation of his ability as an example.
3. Water
In Canto XXXI (where Beatrice is the guide) Dante goes through the waters of the river Lethe, which makes him forget his past sins. In XXXIII (the last part of Purgatory) Dante dips in Eone and becomes fully purified.
That obviously reminds me of Fyodor and Chuuya, and then Sigma and Dazai, drowning.
Chuuya - he's currently a vampire (who, because of that, might not remember his past for now - Lethe?). Both the transition to a vampire and being dipped in water have metaphorical meanings involving changing as a person. That situation, along with Dazai's words, could have helped him gain consciousness, at least for a second (you know the whole "his eyes were back to normal" thing), and "cleanse" him from the vampirism. Moreover, in his speech Dazai talked about their relationship, and the one who was by Dante's side when he went through Lethe was Beatrice, his lover. She also talked about love (Canto XXX) and Dazai's farewell was really emotional and more authentic than what he usually says. (Of course I'm not saying they're lovers, just pointing out the similarities)
Sigma - before drowning in Meursault, there was a different panel that showed them being in water. Fyodor talked there about Sigma's loneliness in this world - is Sigma's amnesia similar to Dante going through Lethe? (Or: before coming into Purgatory, Dante had to be washed, because he had to leave his worldly life behind. I think that fact corresponds to Sigma's life even more). Then we got the recent chapters where Dazai saves Sigma. I didn't find many "cleansing" themes in that scene, except for that panel, which reminds me of baptism (it cleanses the person from sins and is done with water):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What we can also get from these similarities is that Dazai doesn't necessarily have to correspond to Virgil, but also Beatrice, another guide.
4. Dreams
Throughout his journey, Dante has dreams that help him understand things better in one way or another. In one of them he sees Beatrice, who I already compared to Dazai. Atsushi "hallucinated" as well, in chapter 105. In that vision he sees Dazai who makes / motivates him to move. Atsushi's much like Dante as well - they both are on a journey to become a better version of themselves, but also idealise their mentors.
5. Ango
Just like the spirit, Ango is helping Dazai and Sigma to go through the prison (upwards). Dazai also calls him an 'angel'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purgatory, Canto XVII; bsd chapter 101
6. Mykola
The game Fyodor, Dazai and Sigma are playing was made by Mykola. One of the most famous works of the real Mykola Hohol is Dead souls, which some believe that he wanted it to be the Russian Divine Comedy. The book was meant to be a trilogy, but only one volume (that was meant to correspond to Dante's Hell) was created. I even found a reference to it, in which Chichikov (the main character) is compared to Dante:
Tumblr media
That point acts more as an argument for the game to be Hell, not Purgatory, but the relatedness to Divine Comedy is there. Or maybe it's more that Mykola wants the game to be like Hell, not Purgatory - either for Fyodor or Dazai, it's supposed to end in death. The other one's experience would be like Purgatory, tho, as he'd successfully leave the prison.
Or maybe, it's his journey that he wants to be like Chichikov and Dante's (since he wants to become free). Either way, that person is supposed to go through Purgatory later.
Also, does it mean the game is going to end before it was supposed to? If it hasn't already.
edit: more similarities in the reblogs!!
To sum up, I think one character doesn't have to correspond to just one person from Divine Comedy - and vice versa. Dazai is Virgil, but at the same time Beatrice, another guide, and also has some parts of Dante - he grows and goes through the Purgatory.
We don't have only one Dante - both Sigma and Atsushi share his traits and both go through their own paths to knowing themselves better (with the help of Dazai, too).
Bram and Aya's relationship is the one where, in my opinion, the levels of danteness and virgilness are most equal. Aya is Bram's guide, literally caries him on her back, but also shows him modern technology. Bram also helps Aya and guards her. Not to mention, they're at the highest part of the airport now, which means they have gone upwards.
I argued the Meursault prison is Purgatory, but I also found some similarities to Hell. It can be that it shares both of their traits, maybe depending on a character and what's happening to them.
The question is: is Asagiri writing this arc with so many similarities to Divine Comedy on accident or on purpose? Because if it was just the themes and archetypes that were alike, I wouldn't ask this question, but some of the things I listed are too resembling of Dante's work for me, especially Briareus and what happened in the lift. Not to mention real Hohol's connection to Divine Comedy.
If you have thoughts on this subject, please share! I've spent so much time thinking about this, I don't know anymore if I've gaslighted myself into thinking Asagiri must be doing it on purpose or not (but at the same time!! the similarities!!!). Yes, Dante is way older than every bsd author, but 1) we also have Shakespeare and 2) I believe it's a reference to Divine Comedy as a book, not that he'll be a new character (it'd be so cool tho). But even if it's not Asagiri's conscious doing, the similarities are still very interesting and I enjoyed looking for them.
