Week 52.2/52: December 25th - December 31st 2023 | Boxing Day 🛍️  Bf found a new fire noodle flavour at T&T! Yakisoba buldak. This was very sweet and not spicy. I didn't enjoy it very much :'( maybe will try again another time. Spent rest of day hanging out with him inside and then we went to downtown at the end of day to look at some stores hehehe.

What to do with leftover crispy fried chicken?
Coat it with spicy cheesy sauce with the help of sauce of buldak fire noodles.
What is Buldak?. “Bul” in korean means fire while “dak” means chicken, thus it is a hot & spicy flavored chicken. The spicy marinated chicken is cooked thru fire/grill.
Eating Buldak Bokkeummyun or Fire Noodles has been a trending challenge year 2018, and numerous reaction videos surfaced the internet particularly in youtube. There are people can’t stand with the spiciness got teary eyed and need drink a ton of milk. However, there are also people who successfully won the challenge.
When I first try this fire noodles, I am also one of those who can’t bear its spiciness. Gradually, my tolerance into spicy food got improved and I am able to finish eating fire noodles.
It is a rainy lunch today, and I cooked this fire noodles with a leftover crispy fried chicken. I put more cheddar cheese as I want this dish to be cheesy and to lessen its spiciness. By the way, Buldak Bokkeummyun is made in Korea and certified Halal product.

Here's something entirely brand new: Buldak Hot Chicken Flavored Ramen! I bought one of these at my local 99¢ Only Stores and it was just $1.49 (plus four cents more due to what the hell's been going on), managed to follow a video on how to cook it for under five minutes, took a taste test of it and...
It's actually good. Not that I wanted something spicy for once, but due to my newfound soft side for Asian culture, it's best preferable using a glass of cold milk. You may have seen Buldak ramen featured in an assortment of ASMR Mukbang videos surrounding said meal, but I guarantee it's worth an addictive price. :)
UPDATE - Alright, better idea: eat ice cream. It helps.

Ramen Review #2: Samyang Buldak Instant Noodles, Original
Tumblr media
Another iconic instant noodle. Popularized during the "Fire Noodle" challenge days of 2010s YouTube.
Noodle Texture: 7/10. Nice and chewy, but not exactly top-of-the-line quality.
Flavor: 10/10. I might be biased though, I'm a huuuuge fan of spicy food.
Notes: Extremely spicy! There's a reason these noodles became more well-known because of their associated challenge. Best with a fried egg on top.
Recommended tips:
Fry up an egg while boiling your noodles! Get your pan and some oil on another burner after putting your noodles into the boiling water. These noodles take about 5 minutes to cook (not including time spent mixing the flavor packet into them afterwards), so your egg should be done right on time to slide on top.
For other toppings, you can also add some fried spam or dried seaweed. (Or anything really, if you like it :))
If you're cooking this on a non-nonstick pot (so a stick pot?), you need to be faaast with mixing in the sauce after draining the water. Stir continuously, or else your noodles will stick to the bottom of the pot. (This can also be avoided by adding a little bit of oil).
Don't reserve too much water in the pot after draining, or else your sauce will be too watery. But, if it ends up too watery, you can just cook off the excess as well.
As the packaging says, these are dry noodles! They're not very good as a soup imo, the noodles themselves get soggy very quickly.

Lol the fact Simon cant handle spice is sending me. I love eating those mega spicy buldak chicken ramen and i KNOW for sure he would die if he ate an particles of it. He cant even stay in the same room with it, like the spicy hits his nose and he sneezing coughing and wheezing🤣
SAME I LOVE THOSE!!!
you couldn’t pay him $100 to take a bite of it honestly. the smell of the spices is already making his nose hairs burn, and he’s not in the mood to have his mouth be on fire too. the most he can handle is a bit of hot sauce or light jalapeño, nothing too crazy.
i can see him loving stews! meat, potatoes, vegetables and sauce is instant satisfaction for him. he also prefers noodle dishes over rice.
and of course his major sweet tooth!

Cooking with Jungkook: Makguksu or in Jk's words... Savory Fire Mayo Perilla Oil Buckwheat Noodles
What is makguksu?
Tumblr media
Ingredients and materials:
A chef with:
An extra cup of cute that can be turned into sexy in the blink of an eye
A adorbs hairstyle
A little sprinkle of night owl times
A love for noods
Too many Jimin missing hours
A saucepan to boil the noodles in. A saucepan that seems vaguely familiar... Fissler brand, maybe? Jimin would know.
Tumblr media
Sauce
4 spoons of 100% raw perilla oil
You should get low-temperature compressed perilla oil, kinda yellow color, not the dark brown. But also, live dangerously.
Tumblr media
1 spoon of Buldak sauce
1 spoon of Buldak mayo sauce
2 spoons of Cham sauce (참소스 / a kind of soy sauce)
1 egg yolk, with tendon thing removed!
Tumblr media
Buckwheat noodles, made with at least 30% buckwheat
Seasoned seaweed flakes
Tumblr media
Instructions
Play the following song on a loop. Crucial step.
Mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl and set aside.
Tumblr media
Boil water in saucepan and boil noodles for 5 minutes.
When finished, wash them to get rid of the starch. Squeeze water.
Put the noodles in a pretty bowl and pour sauce on top. Pretty bowl is a must.
Tumblr media
Add the dried seaweed.
Tumblr media
Mix everything well and enjoy!
If you feel you need to eat even more you can make it right away! -Orders from the chef!
Possible additions:
Crushed garlic or red pepper powder (gochugaru). It could work, according to the chef!
Sharing it with another person...a certain Park Jimin, maybe?
Tumblr media
Hope you all enjoy!
Or as Jk said:

buldak has to be one of the meanest food and not only because of the hotness, but because they mixed the flavouring with the hot sauce. so if you only want to have a little of fire, the noodles will punish your cowardice by giving you a bland meal. you would think "well Im putting the whole powder bag, I'm just gonna hold on the sauce" but they know. the powder does barely anything without the flavour in the sauce. if you want to taste that damn chickens fat popping pussy you have to go to hell before you die
