It's weird that Larian seems to show Astarion a lot of favoritism in terms of content and yet his companion storyline is such a side quest compared to all the others. As far as I'm aware he has no real connection to the mindflayers/Absolute other than the initial kidnapping/parasite insertion, which is - like - the bare minimum needed to have a connection at all.
His conflict with Cazador is such a random aside when you're in Baldur's Gate. It's like yeah I need to stop the other two Chosen, I need to solve this murder conspiracy, locate the Elder Brain, deal with Raphael, figure out what to do with the Crown of Karsus, and... oh yeah, I guess there's Astarion's thing to deal with, too.
It's hilarious, really, because it means while this one huge, world-ending event was going on there was also - by complete coincidence - an entire OTHER world-ending event happening just down the street that wasn't connected in any way. Not only is the Absolute's army on the march, but Cazador is trying to become the Vampire Ascendant at the same time and only ASTARION knows about it. Cazador is literally just some OTHER bbeg whose centuries-old plan happens to be coming to fruition the same week as the Chosen's.
I literally almost forgot to do his plotline because it had so little to do with the overarching conflict of the story. The only connection he ever really makes is with Raphael, who he needs ONCE for ONE minor thing and that's it. And Raphael isn't even that important to the Absolute plot, himself.
Astarion doesn't really have any connections with the Chosen, any other characters, any other antagonists, he's just kind of his own thing. Once you deal with Cazador he's just kind of along for the ride. Meanwhile, Wyll's father is integral to the Chosen's plan, Shadowheart has the plot McGuffin that can foil the Absolute, Lae'zel's people are sworn enemies of the mindflayers, and Gale wants the Crown of Karsus for himself, not to mention his Goddess is literally tasking him to deal with the Absolute.
Everyone else has a good reason to be there EXCEPT ASTARION. Like he's just there because he has a worm.
Anyway, rant over.

Good game!!! Blue only just barely won by the skin of his teeth! I was checking and rechecking the whole day and we tied with an exact 50/50 and least three times! The lead was going back and forth with a 2% or less difference ALL day, you were actually winning by I think 1.2% when I went to sleep at 2 am
I'm imagining they had a super evenly matched fight and went back and forth for hours then at the very end they call it even and go to high five, and the high five is what sends Mikey to the ground. And Blue laughs, but then ALSO falls to the ground
Hold on- I had to draw that asdfjgngorenr
The real ending to ITBOTB Blue vs. Fracturing Time Michelangelo in @rottmntpeepawpolls
Haha, that was totally wild and intense! It was so interesting to hear/watch the poll fluctuate like that lol it was a good time! I'm happy you won that, man, you deserve the win, and you worked really hard for it! I wish you luck on the future polls, I'm rooting for your peepaw!
Also, I think it would've been so funny and great if a team up ended up happening; I even doodled the team up that was stopped before it could get too powerful

Choice
"Bring out the storm sails!"
The Draugr were used to chaos. Used to action under pressure. Decisions made the entire world was screaming at them. So while the Shrike was being bounced between waves, though the crew was sliding around the slick deck, they were focused. Confidently darting around the ship pulling at ropes and other bits under the order of their captain. High up int he crow's nest. Soaked to the bone as he supplied the ship with hos own winds to push through the storm.
"Cesar! To the open sea! Away from land!"
The redhead shouted something Zandros couldn't quite make out from where he was before working the wheel. Steering the ship deeper into the storm.
"Mark! Marcus! Get Fluffkins below deck!"
He watched two pirates wrestle a massive lion down the steps. Making sure all three were safely down before returning his attention back to the sea.
Unfortunately, he could only see darker clouds and more turbulent waves ahead. Seemed their target was in the thick of the storm. And they had a deadline. So no finding cover to wait this thing out. Especially when the first motes of light appeared in the distance. The city slowly coming into view as the ship approached the coast. With no sign of the rain letting up.
Zandros' grin widened as the threat of them crashing into the docks became more of a probability than a possibility. Calming the winds that's been pushing the Shrike forward, he leapt from the main mast. Landed on the main deck with a thud that rivaled the thunder around them.
He didn't need to say anything for Cesar to understand. Relinquishing the wheel with little more than a nod before running off to find a use for himself elsewhere.
The captain closed his eyes as he took it. Relished in the feel of it in his hands. Like holding his sword back in the fighting rings. As if his hands were made for this. Taking in a lungful of the sea air, he opened his eyes again. Magic pouring from his body into the ship.
"My brothers!" he roared. "Full speed ahead!"
He was met with the combined roars of the Draugr and everyone scrambled to grab onto anything. As the winds that had whipped around them began to change directions. Circling the ship rather than fighting against it. The shaking calmed, as the Shrike lifted up out of the waves. No longer dodging the rocks and docks by the shore, but instead the buildings deeper inland.
Charging ahead. Flying straight for their bounty.
