Élise, 26 ans est une grande danseuse classique. Elle se blesse pendant un spectacle et apprend qu’elle ne pourra plus danser. Dès lors sa vie va être bouleversée, Élise va devoir apprendre à se réparer… Entre Paris et la Bretagne, au gré des rencontres et des expériences, des déceptions et des espoirs, Élise va se rapprocher d’une compagnie de danse contemporaine. Cette nouvelle façon de danser va lui permettre de retrouver un nouvel élan et aussi une nouvelle façon de vivre.

Xavier aproxima-se dos quarenta anos, e o filme tenta manter o interesse mas reconhecendo que as fantasias de juventude pela sexualidade não devem manter a mesma importância. Muitas personagens desaparecem, mantendo-se Wendy, a belga e a Amélie.

O filme inicia-se com o divórcio de Wendy que parte para NY e arranja um novo parceiro que vive junto ao Central Park. Para estar próximo dos filhos Xavier muda-se para a cidade, e vai habitar com a belga, que vive com uma lésbica. O Xavier doa sémen para terem um filho. A companheira de quarto acaba por lhe arranjar um apartamento na Chinatown, onde mantém a escrita dos livros, recebe os filhos durante os dias, e em certos momentos aparece a Amélie que desenvolve negócios de chá com chineses, e lentamente começa a construir-se uma relação entre os dois, as diferentes geografias e inúmeras crianças

Rémy Pelletier (François Civil – Le avventure galanti del Giovane Molière, Noi insieme adesso), che ha un lavoro non qualificato e Mélanie Brunet (Ana Girardot – Les Revenants, Escobar), ricercatrice scientifica, sono vicini di casa ma sono talmente presi da mille cose, da non accorgersi, per molto tempo, l’uno dell’altra.

Questo nonostante vadano a fare la spesa nello stesso bazar multietnico gestito da Mansour (Simon Abkarian – Casino Royale, Notre-Dame la part du feu).

E arrivano persino a condividere un delizioso micetto bianco, ovviamente l’uno all’insaputa dell’altro

Recensie Encore ★★★1/2 - vanaf 7-7 in de bioscoop Een feelgood film waarin je steeds meer verliefd wordt op Élise. Je krijgt ook zin om te dansen en lekker te eten. Een fijne sfeer en bijpassende muziek zorgen ervoor dat deze film het kijken waard is.

De dramafilm Encore gaat over Élise, die een blessure oploopt tijdens haar balletoptreden. Of ze ooit nog kan dansen is de vraag, dus ze zal nieuw werk moeten vinden. Wat wij van Encore vinden, lees je in onze recensie. (more…)

omg anon i love the question, but where to begin !!! I don’t know how to make short answers so sorry about that…

I'm going to try not to list the most obvious films but not too niche either so you can find them somwhere. And i started watching french films quite late in my life so you won't see many films made before 2015 aha.

Just in case, you can check my letterboxd profile, I watch a lot of french films now so you might find some stuff there too :)

Also, i'm not sure since when you've known me but the film i would recommend the most is obvisouly Portrait of a Lady on Fire by Céline Sciamma (but you probably watched it already if you're following me haha).

Next obvious film since I've been posting a lot about it recently : Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet.

Okay then, so I've had to remove a very big chunk out of the many romantic films in France. Below, a small list to see what you think about with no romance (except maybe a little bit for Amelie), as you wish and according to my tastes. Une jeune danseuse classique se blesse et doit remettre en question sa carrière. Il y a toujours un côté kitsch / culcul / naïf chez Klapisch qui a tendance à m’agacer. Mais ici, l’émotion l’emporte, peut-être grâce à la collaboration avec le chorégraphe Hofesh Schechter et la musique de Thomas Bangalter de Daft Punk.

A young classical dancer gets hurt and must take important decisions about her future life. There’s always some naive and kitsch things in movies directed by Cedric Klapisch. But here I can’t help to be moved. Maybe because some elements are left to choreographer Hofesh SChechter and to musician Thomas Bangalter from Daft punk.
