imagine vb as kristoff from frozen like character with rosa the reindeer living a remote life, on the furthest edges of soem kingdom, harvesting ice for a living. zgy is a prince in the role of princess annika from barbie and the magic of the pegasus on a quest to break the curse that hath befallen his kingdom!

vb is the unhelpful hermit that zgy runs into along the way. zgy finds him both cool af like a rugged lone ranger rawdogging it in the wild but also extremely unhelpful bc vb has no social skills. meanwhile vb thinks zgy is pretty but vb having grown up with very little social interaction cannot compute how to interact with the extremely pretty prince!

omg cactus, i really feel like i'm about to let you down; i've never seen frozen or barbie and the magic of the pegasus. so i'm shooting in the dark a lil bit on this one, but i like the general vibes a lot! i googled kristoff and he seems pretty dead-on for valtteri, especially with his reindeer companion! i tried to google princess annika but the barbie wiki is just... a lot so i'm choosing to latch onto the curse-breaking quest component. i'm also choosing to believe that guanyu would have a pegasus, bc it is very endearing to imagine a glamorous pegasus trying to make friends with a generally amiable but totally bewildered reindeer.

ummm under a cut bc this got unexpectedly a wee bit long

i am a super-sucker for the trope of character A being like "wow this person is so cool and stoic" when character B is actually a complete mess inside lol. he wants to be helpful to guanyu but he's not used to having company besides rosa, his reindeer, who does not talk! (in this verse we can have a pegasus but no talking animals. i don't make the rules, my brain does. mostly bc if rosa could talk she would immediately expose valtteri for the absolute dork that he is)

anyway, the main image that's living in my mind for this is valtteri silently serving guanyu some hearty porridge and dried, tough strips of lean meat (elk not reindeer; don't worry, rosa). it's as tasty as valtteri can make it but it's also hearty food designed to keep him surviving in the frozen far north. guanyu is hungry enough from his journeying to swallow it down but he hopes it's the last time he has to have it (spoiler: it is not). his pegasus is not happy about the coarse grain she's served, either—she's used to fresh apples, sweet grass, and sugar cubes, okay—but rosa is happily chomping hers down without any affair. the pegasus is both mystified and horrified.

eating in silence around the fire is awkward, but valtteri doesn't really know how to converse for social purposes. he usually only talks for trade when he hauls his hand-carved sleds to rovaniemi's market, softly to rosa while out foraging, or yelling nonsense as loudly as he can to ward off wolves and bears that might be circling him or his trail.

"so," guanyu clears his throat. "you... what do you do up here?"

valtteri blinks. "work," he says. "trap. hunt. carve things. make sleds."

"that's it?" guanyu asks when it's clear valtteri isn't going to say anything else. "what about for fun?"

"make sleds," valtteri repeats, but he sees guanyu's face do something where his eyebrows tip up and his lips tip down, so he taps his wooden spoon against the side of his wooden porridge bowl and thinks. he shrugs but all his layers of wool and leather obscure the motion. "i watch the stars a lot."

"oh," guanyu says, "they must be very beautiful."

valtteri looks him over head-to-toe. the prince has some kind of magic that means he does not need quite so many layers as valtteri to stay warm. the pegasus, too, is fine with only a single small blanket that valtteri still has from when rosa had been an orphaned calf, wandering the arctic and bleating for her mother's warmth until she stumbled through valtteri's homestead. the pair of them, guanyu and his mythical companion, are sending valtteri for an absolute loop at the moment. he can believe in magic, sure, but he can't believe a man could survive -20° C weather in what looks like a pair of slippers and a thin jacket. nevertheless, here he sits in front of valtteri, doing just that.

"i'll show you," valtteri says gruffly, turning back to his food and ripping a long strip off his elk meat stick with merciless teeth.

and then they go gaze at stars and guanyu doesn't seem to know anything about the constellations, and he interprets valtteri's bafflement over that as frustration. self-consciously, he promises to be out of valtteri's hair the next morning and back on his quest further north. startled, valtteri's mind races at the idea of this pretty prince trekking, unprepared, through the arctic. his magical clothes may keep him warm, but he doesn't know how to hunt to feed himself or how to tell if bear tracks are fresh. how to tell which way the wind is blowing or whether he's walking on frozen lake instead of the ground.

"too dangerous to go alone," valtteri says, blunt.

guanyu sighs, exhaustion and homesickness overtaking him in a wave. "then i don't know what to do," he says, voice warbling. "i will never break this curse if i don't go."

valtteri is quiet for a long moment. so long that guanyu thinks he's just not going to respond at all, until he says: "sleds are not due for many months. i will take you."

they found the gregory house after running from an extremely busy and demanding life (they used to throw parties every night in their hometown, which led to a huge reputation and a LOT of fake people), they didn’t care much about the whole “soul-stealing” business, they were just happy to relax :]

nowadays they serve as an event planner for the hotel, mainly for holidays and other celebrations!

of course, the character had to have some sort of horror element, so their blood is glowstick fluid! when their emotions get too extreme, they tend to leak from their eyes and their mouth. please do not ingest it :D

they’re very friendly towards the other guests, some were weary at first because of casey’s appearance, but most warmed up after a while. they only really considered everybody as a friend, nothing more...

What is something great that has happened to you this past week?

I know it’s only Thursday but I’ve had A week and thought it would be nice hearing some positive things :) 🧡

Not gonna lie, cactus, my week has also not been the greatest, but putting all of that aside, there were also some cool things happening:

- I celebrated my first art anniversary and the community here was very cute about it. I loved reading all the tags.

- Generally I love reading all the little notes people leave in the tags of my drawings / writing posts. It is both uplifting, motivating and inspires me to keep creating, as well as it provides a welcome distraction from the not-so-cool stuff.

- My cat is being very clingy at the moment (it's colder again which means I get a lot of cat cuddles).

- And in terms of what to look forward to: My injury should be well enough that I can go to dance class tomorrow. I haven't been able to go for weeks and missed it a lot.

I hope you have something to look forward to as well that makes a gloomy week a little less gloomy 🫂
