Cactus Multihybrid Trichocereus Echinopsis and Lobivia!

This one is a fabulous intergeneric multihybrid involving THREE different genera. And the flower is great too, with the yellow throat and the white petals.  KA.2010.255.5 (Goldrose x Duett) x Dagati.

Hybrids with such a yellow throat are really sought after and I was really happy to get it from the breeder Uwe Kahle.

When I first started researching how to grow cactus by seed, there were so many complicated directions and I was intimidated

But really all I do is throw them on some soaking wet regular cactus soil, stick it in a plastic bag for humidity, and place them on a seed heating pad. Then I leave an extra aquarium light I had laying around on for 12 hours on and 12 off

#.ix #grafting a cactus isnt Automatically bad #first of all they’re plants. to our current knowledge they dont feel pain. #second of all grafting a small cactus onto a pitaya rootstock is standard practice in succulent greenhouses for generating seeds #bc normally those small cacti grow slowly; are hesitant to flower; and get overwatered easily #pitaya is a jungle cactus that is very good at delivering water n nutrients to whatevers grafted to it #however moon cacti are mutant clones without chlorophyll #very pretty. very prone to dying if separated from the parent plant. #so theyre grafted onto the pitaya and sold #however that means the pitaya has to provide EVERYTHING for its grafted mutant parasite #they don’t survive often. #shou tucker ass plant

New seeds dropped! This one is a very interesting multihybrid cross between two different genera. ALTENA is a Hartmut Kellner cross with the parents Lobivia DESSAU x T, purpureopilosus and a hybrid with Lobivia densispina. ALTENA basically got the extremely contrast rich flower of DESSAU and the precious flower shape of T.purpureopilosus. And the father is a Lobivia/Echinopsis densispina hybrid with a beautiful yellow/white throat.

yes this was all unnecessary and I could have just squeezed the seeds out but this was more fun 🌵 🌶🖤

My poor Mexican hen had some kind of stem rot so I cut off it’s little tops and hope it will root and stay alive!

Also went to target and got this cute little 4 pc planter set and I’m gonna try growing some herbs to make tea and shit. Of course I got some catnip seeds for the kitty cat.
