CRITICAL ROLE CAMPAIGN 3 EPISODE 85 SPOILERS
IM LITERALLY ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND YALL
Where do I even ??? start ???
I haven't been posting c3 as the episodes dropped in...a while actually, like right before they went to the feywild. i have many thoughts and many feelings about so many things that have happened since then and I'll summarise them so I can get to THIS episode.
fearne and ashton - love their shard powers, they're literally royalty and terrifying, and i want them to make-out. i can't wait to see them go full primordial again in a real combat situation.
imogen - save her. literally save her. free her, even. i love everything about the call of ruidus when it comes to imogen on a narrative standpoint, but...God I get so worried that we're gonna lose her. I don't mean she's gonna betray the hells, but...ruidus could take her and then i would simply perish.
laudna - before i really get into wtf went down this episode with her and she who must not be named, i gotta say... im worried. very very worried. however, that fireball was objectively the best shit ever.
fcg - i can't even really remember anything stand out abt fcg except what Sam pulled last night so.
chetney - still the heart of the team, still my baby girl, still my favourite. love him to bits.
orym - i think laudna is going to beat his ass one of these days and im... even more concerned about that after this episode. his nana morri powers are cool as fuck tho... does that make him a warlock now? i know he isn't multi-classing but wouldn't that be cool
ANYWAY WE'RE ON THE FUCKING MOON AND WE GOT MOON LORE AND EVERYTHING WAS SHITTY THEN FUN THEN SHITTY THEN FUN AGAIN THEN REALLY FUCKING SAD THEN IT ALL WENT TO SHIT AGAIN.
the moment imogen reached out to ruidus and matt mentioned that she could sense where other ruidusborn were i fucking knew that otohan was high tailing it in their direction, and i thought they instinctively knew that too but they probably got so distracted.
we were travelling for hours and had a huge fight that almost got them captured (not to be confused with the OTHER two fights that almost got them captured) and I was begging and screaming and crying for them to get a long rest safely hidden away AND THEN THEY SPLIT THE PARTY WITH BARELY ANY SPELL SLOTS OR HIT POINTS AFTER BEING DRAINED FROM ANOTHER BATTLE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM
(Sidenote, the willmaster really opened up the door to the further increase in moral pondering in a certain number of hellians. i do think using the harness is disgusting and hypocritical, but i don't condemn them for it, it just...makes me wanna vomit thinking abt what ludinus did with it. not to mention the HUNGER parallels between laudna and ludinus...its just not good yall. also??? objectively funny that fcg seemed weirded out by the idea of killing the willmaster, not just with the harness but in general, considering how many people they've killed up to this point)
idk if its just the inherent terror that an evil old hot lady can inspire that makes otohan so much more terrifying to me than ludinus. like, objectively, ludinus is a worse threat and could wipe them out EASILY but jesus otohan is like the damn reaper to me. it's the trauma from the laudna, fearne, orym massacre mixed with the underlying little drop from their uthodurn romp that let us know that resurrection spells are NOT working and idk if that got fixed bc of time passing or distance from the leylines but i really did not want to test that shit out in real time
thank...god that sam riegel is a damn genius player, that banishment of fcg and fearne was the ONLY reason fcg survived. and thank GOD FOR KEYLETH BECAUSE WITHOUT THAT CLOUD SPELL BELLS HELLS WOULD BE VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DEAD RN.
God, "otohan has us. run." is going to haunt me just as much, if not more than the almost tpk. it just...shot me straight back to bassuras and the plan to run that just...immediately fell apart.
god fcg truly could have died there. and fearne would be captured. i know the hells would be too stupid and too brave and too loyal to leave fearne with otohan in their cloud form but can you imagine a world where fcg was gone, fearne was captured and the hells had to switch from recon to rescue... itd be stressful but pretty fun.
thankfully it didn't come to that and some good came from the shit.
ruidus is so beautiful. i was worried they'd end being trapped under ruidus while they explored (not that I wasn't on board with the detours, I wish this wasn't a time sensitive mission), but matt's imagery of the fossilized elven structure and garden made me sad but also happy that we got to see it.
i cannot believe that the stupid plan to shove fearne up a water hole happened AGAIN and it ended up with us FINDING A BACK HOLE TO RUIDUS GOD I LOVE THESE CHUCKLEFUCKS WHEN IS THE NEXT EPISODE MATT YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO ME. WHERE EVEN ARE THEY??? IS IT EVEN EXANDRIA???? WHAT DO WE DO IF IT IS EXANDRIA??? WHERE DID THIS HOLE EVEN COME FROM???? DOES IT CLOSE AND REOPEN??? IS IT STAGNANT?????? IS IT FUCKING STABLE?!?!?!?!?!
God...we could go back to keyleth and the others and actually invade ruidus without encountering the ruby vanguard. (that's if they're alright because otohan did go out onto the battlefield and we don't know what fhe fuck she did when the illusion fell through)
GOD. IS IT THURSDAY YET??? WE HAVENT EVEN FOUND THE RESISTANCE????

"if you were any gemstone, what would you be?" orym nearly getting bh killed because he said cake sucks to eshteross' face
imogen asking pretty out on a 3 (4) person date to help her friends not get caught, the resulting date and rejection, and all the times it gets brought up again

"i was trying to keep a low profile!" "YOU'RE DRESSED AS THE NIGHTMARE KING!"
"HE PROPOSED!"
"what's wrong, daniel?"
everyone piling into an elevator at the same time and liam miming getting his face smashed into the wall
the entire twilight museum bit, but mostly just orym getting blocked from helping the gang three times in a row
"want some candy? wa-wa-want some candy?"
fearne spending her turn keeping watch by breathing a smiley face into ashton's head and then going back to sleep because she forgot they were taking turns
xandis

"WE DON'T LEAVE ANYONE BEHIND" followed by everyone but ashton falling off the airship
"uh. guys. bones. fast. bones. lots of bones coming this way."
after a solid month of agonizing over laudna being possibly permadead she's brought back with a slap

I love fey morality. Everyone, audience and party alike, is super convinced Nana Morri is evil - as in, malicious. And it's like. No? She runs on a completely different scale than we're used to, as does Fearne. Going by the strictest definition of evil as "it's me and mine, and the rest of everyone else can get fucked," maybe, but that's. It's the feywild. That's how fey run. It's why I was so hoping for Fearne to be along the evil axis because it's not immediately equivalent to causing deliberate harm or exploiting others for their own gain. It is very simply how this realm works. Everyone was waiting for Morri to trap the hells or try to steal Patè but that's not how this works. There are still rules. They just are not our rules, and the Hells had not broken any of Morri's. Plus, she and Fearne share the emphasis on individual freedom, even if the axis of what constitutes that freedom is a bit skewed.
That's not to say that everyone currently sitting in pieces in Nana's trophy room necessarily deserved to be taken apart the way we understand cause and effect or punishment, but it also doesn't mean Nana Morri is some malignant boss fight to be. Her business is her own. Even the heart of the lion guard was given to her, not wrenched out of someone's chest for her own purposes.
It's funny to watch people react to her and to Fearne with the rules and mindsets of the material plane/something approaching real life. Fearne has never abided by those rules and doesn't understand them, and that's why I think Imogen was both correct and mistaken to raise Fearne's hand when it was asked who might turn on everyone. Correct to be suspicious because Fearne follows the beat of a different drum, but absolutely wrong to think that once the Hells were her people that she would allow harm to come to them, let alone enact it. The friction there lies in what Fearne considers to BE harm in the first place. Same for Morri. You can't judge fey by mortal rules, and Matt and Ashley are doing a great job with that friction and it's baffling a lot of people - fictional and real.

Feeling abit down today for no apparent reason -_-
So I thought i was write a post about last night's CR, so if you arnt caught up there will be SPOILERS ahead for CR3E78.
*
*
*
*
*
Ok so I posted a rant on how I felt after E77 because my mind felt like it was going to explode. I spoke withsomeone about how i was hoping Matt would deal with the situation and as always he went one even better with Ashton rejecting the Shard. In my opinion this episode was brilliant, couldn't have been any better.
Matt having the shard rejected leaves it open to the possibilities of the emperor and empress storyline and if Fearne does choose to accept it, I'm still so excited to see a more powerful version of her, plus I think she deserves it. I know alot of people are getting feels about the fact that she said she didn't want it, but to me i don't feel like she doesn't want the shard. I feel like she doesn't want the possibility of turning evil and the fear of the shard being a catalyst of that is why she doesn't want it. However in the end if she accepts that and still chooses not to have it, then for sure fukl support.
The way Ashton dropped his guard, took responsibly for his selfishness and just down right shitty behaviour wad the best way to go for me. Don't get me wrong, doesn't change that he did a shit thing but I really can't think of a better way Tal could have played it. I still think Ashton is cryptic with the way he speaks sometimes but I do feel like I fully understand where he is coming from. When one of then said to him about being power hungry and he said it wasn't about that it's about being whole, I was sat there watching and said those exact words just before he said them. There is still alit of work to do, but being humble and accepting that gives me alot of hope. I'm looking forward to more conversations between him and fearne to explore what happened more.
Now Chetney... man I bow down to you sir. I adore this little man so much and he really stood out to me this ep so I just wanted to give him some appreciation aswell as laudna and the doll she made for Ashton. They all keep saying how broken they are, but it still doesn't really feel like they know and accept how actually broken you can be. The way Imogen has some crazy immeasurable power yet in the moment Laudna ran off she looks so powerless... one of the best things i enjoy so much watching CR is Laura when she is completely in character but sat there, not interacting with anyone at the time, however you can see her going through the motions. Just brilliance.
I'm just rambling now, this isn't very well put together lol but after last week I just felt like I wanted to say this episode was perfect to me, I love how it went and I can't wait for the next!

CRITICAL ROLE SPOILERS
Episode 39 was nice and solid, with some good moments and new cool side character introduction. And as usual in c3, "can't wait to see next episode" cliffhanger...
It seems that Bells Hells more concentrated on progressing with a task now, so they don't have a lot of 1 on 1 conversations yet. Or maybe actively avoiding those (Imogen and Laudna, I look at you), but having a good bonding moments as a group.
I really enjoyed that Chetney Werewolf moment. It's mean that the stronger Ridius getting, the more unpredictability group will have - imagine, that this Blood lust would happen in fight with Otohan... They really should be careful now, since they basically have two ticking bombs (FCG and Chetney) with them. And we don't know if Delilah going to return/Imogen could go a little bit crazy with all this dreams/gemlock still in her bag. Ashton has some messed memories in their head which also might play at some point. So, only Orym and Fearne truly stable. For now.
Ashton is more careful with planning, being cautious about group safety from Otohan, checking on Laudna penalties (a little bit metagaming, but still).
Laudna seems more quiet now, spending more time with her own thoughts. Pre-death Laudna would be all flirty and excited about creepy lady. Now she seems more uncomfortable with this attention. She is also looks more closed in her interactions with Imogen and the rest of the group, like she still has this guilt of being dead.
I wonder, what the reason behind this 400 gold ruby that Imogen bought. For what spell it might be required?
Domestic Imodna dream is so cute, no way this is "them just being good friends". At least there are some one sided feelings from Imogen and her internal wish to live with Laudna somewhere peacefully together. How cruel for this moment to become a nightmare - first one that she was afraid literally just 2 days ago and then image of her mother coming into storm.
And that cliffhanger... Matt is secretly evil genius,by bringing all this tension and getting us hooked for more)

Critical Role Campaign 3 Episode 35
Oh dear ... Sam, please have mercy upon us. This robot skit is BAD. But in a good way ... wait ... Marisha is beat boxing? Really? And now they've BROKEN TRAVIS ... Marisha: "You suck Adverbot!!" Yes. Yes he does ...
Meanwhile, does this mean Sam's gonna be GOLD for the rest of the episode? Like that time he did that Blue Man Group skit?
Liam: "Let's go to the pumpkin patch to watch Laudna rise!"
And then the episode starts proper and MARISHA'S GONE AGAIN!!! NOOOOOOO!!!
No direction, let's just get the flock outta here ...
Travis: "The person who takes really good notes isn't here any more." Thanks for reminding us, Travis!
Treshi: "I can get you gold." Imogen: "Fuck your gold." FCG: "Wait, how much?"
He offers them 10,000 in gold, platinum and silver. Fearne: "Well that's not very much."
Wow ... Taliesin gets first roll of the night and THAT IS ABYSSMAL, isn't it?
Laudna IS NOT CARGO!!!
Imogen trawls Treshi's mind ... oof, this really doesn't give us much to go on, does it? Oh, hold on ... shit, that was a bust too. Gah! So basically Treshi was just a STOOGE!!! Damn it ...
Perpetually and professionally confused ...
Oh, the orb ... it's dark. Technically that's a GOOD THING.
I love that we're just calling it "red moon shit" now. I think that's what it should be called all the time now.
Seriously, why is he still being so full of himself? He's completely useless now.
Mould storage? Sounds good. XD Yeah, that's more like it. Have fun getting the black lung, Treshi!
Ashton: "But everything arouses you these days." Chetney: "Well that's just an old age thing ... yeah, that's the dnd of that thought."
It's true, all of this is SHIT if they can't save Laudna ...
Laudna's already undead ... so if they undead her undeadness, that's gonna make her ALIVE?
Ashton was DEAD dead?
Seriously? Imogen, you wanna stay as far away from THAT crazy evil bitch as possible ...
Yeah, Whitestone. Go there.
Ah yeah, the Briarwood Saga gets a loredump from Orym. Sweet.
You see, this is the problem. Until they get back to Jrusar everything else is academic. They're basically stuck in a holding pattern ...
Gods, I hate this right now, this is agony.
Yeah, I think Imogen just needs some company at night right now ...
Messages, messages.
Here we go ... calling The Voice of The Tempest. Oh man ... this one starts to break Imogen ...
KEYLETH!!! "Pick a tree." OH SHIT!!!
Chetney: "Whoa! That is the best use of wood I've ever heard of!" I swear Chetney's at full salute right now ...
Wait, does this mean that Hexum is in on the plot too? Imogen: "Is EVERYONE evil?"
Okay ... message to Jianna Hexum ... "Sweet little metal boy ..." XD
Imogen: "Thanks for wasting our spell, bitch."
Yeah, she's totally gonna want FCG. There's no two ways about it.
Ashton is PRICKLY about this shit. He really loves his little metal man.
Laura: (gasps) You have a Shared Dream spell?!!"
Travis: "That's some Teen Wolf shit."
Imogen sleeps in the hole with Laudna's body. With it open, of course.
"On the second day of travel ..."
Shit. Sandstorm ... looks like a BITCH, too ...
Skill check? This doesn't sound good ...
Ashton Rages to hold onto the rope ... and Taliesin rolls an 8. Shit! They've lost a sail!
Chetney: "OLD MAN STRENGTH!!!" Travis: "I get in thereand let my sweet pythons go to work." 21! Nice!
FCG helps Xandis stay super focused with Enhance Ability.
Chetney: "That's a hard deck!" But this low down it's not so fucken wimdy ...
Whoa ... seriously, are they using the wind to DRIFT THE SKYSHIP LIKE A TOKYO RICE ROCKET?!!!
Fearne: "Wait, why's everybody looking at ME to do something?"
Sam: "Guys, this search for spells is sponsored by D&D Beyond."
Matt: "That's the second failure." General gasps. Ashley: " I knew it!"
Oh fuck! Xandis: "I don't got it!" They've lost a sail, they are in CHAOS!!! Are they gonna crash?
Ah ... turns out Plant Growth is useless in this situation ... but the broken deck does turn into a beautiful garden before it whips off into the storm.
Hold on, guys! Oh fuck! FCG is GONE!!! Just vanished!
26 points of bludgeoning damage on impact!
TWO natural 1s? Snake Eyes?
Oh fuck ... Ashton is ALONE on the ship with the rest of the crew as they emerge ...
Everybody else takes 36 POINTS OF BLUDGEONING DAMAGE!!!
And now they're all scattered wherever when the storm clears. Fuck ...
My gods Xandis is SO Dutch right now ... Matt, are you doing that on purpose?
Travis: "Are there any HOLES around any of us right now?"
Fearne starts screaming ... then uses her Pan Flute to try and guide the others to her.
FCG'S rolling his way through the fresh dust like R2D2 ...
Oh ... Fearne is SINKING. Mirthful Leap? Somehow that actually works ... wow. Whoa! That was a CREATURE?!!! Fuck ...
Fearne is walking weird ... oh, she's trying to do the Arrakis sand dance so she doesn't walk with rhythm! Is that actually necessary right now?
FCG has to follow her tracks to keep from GETTING EATEN!!! And it doesn't make any real difference. I KNEW IT!!!
Imogen casts Fly on FCG and scoops him up.
The Silver Sun is coming ... RUN!!!
Bait and Switch - Orym saves Fearne by kicking her in the back? Okay ...
Oh dear ... Fearne's out but Orym is now IN THE PIT with a scary sandworm thingy ...
Yuck ... this thing is NASTY. Travis is NOT HAPPY. I swear Matt does that on purpose just to mess with him.
Imogen's gonna try a Superman rescue ... but Orym's shield is WEDGED in its maw. Oh shit ... she tries to shout an order to it go release and it doesn't work. Telekinesis instead, then ... 18! Yes! They're free!
FCG has a ROTOR BLADE ATTACHMENT?!!! Matt: (laughing with incredulity) "That's right!"
Chetney gets scooped up like Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies. Cue girly screaming.
Thank fuck THAT'S over ...
They need to repair the ship ... Chetney's time has come! Look at all that damage for him to mend ...
Oh shit ... is Treshi dead? Oh thank fuck ... he's just unconscious ...
Time for a break. Just in time, looks like. Everybody is BATTERED.
So Laura screwed up her math and thought she was weaker than she is ...
Damn it Matt, stop cranking up the tension like that. Oh ... you mean there's ANOTHER STORM BEHIND THEM?!!! AAAAAARGH!!!
Oh no, turns out that's a GOID THING!!! Tailwind! Nice! Shave off a whole day of travel!
Laura's offended by the crumbs on Sam's notebook. Which are actually bits of nail polish he's been picking off. Which is WAY worse.
The rest of the journey is uneventful ... thank the gods ... they return to the docks without further incident. Xandis rightly wants them politely GONE.
Second airship ... is that anything in particular? Doesn't seem so ... yeah, I REALLY don't trust you right now, Matt.
Treshi is NOT a happy camper. Which is a bonus. Back in the hole, bitch.
Awwwww ... Orym gives the spyglass that Fearne stole from Xandis back. That's so sweet.
Is Xandis naturally ridiculous or is it a cunning ruse? Either way is fun.
Wait ... is FCG looking out for that one particular bastard seagull?
The Herald's Breath ...
Farewell, Captain Xandis, we love you, you ridiculous little dude.
I love that little in-character groan from Laura at the mention of the gondolas ...
Ah ... okay, watching FCG trying to get his coin back from our resident klepto Fearne is peak comedy.
FCG tries to get to the root of WHY Fearne does that ... it excites her, clearly. Is he actually seriously offering her THERAPY for that, right now?
Ashton: "Something is being learned by someone and I honestly have no idea by whom. "
I think you're being awfully optimistic, there's no way Otohan is dead.
Orym's head's on a swivel as always ...
Back to Eshteross' place ... knock knock ... the door unlocks on its own. That can't be good ...
Imogen sends to Eshteross ... phew. He's okay, he's just being SUPER PARANOID. Damn, they almost just walked into a boobytrapped house of DEATH ...
Fuck, he's REALLY gone overboard with the traps, hasn't he?
Ashton gives Eshteross a present ... by emptying out the hole with a flourish.
So ... anonymity or money ... which is better right now?
Maniah Terai ... OH!!! She's overseer of treescapes? THAT might be helpful right now. I mean couldn't she at least point them to a nice fat tree for Keyleth to walk through?
Ooooh ... bonuses ... that looks like a SHIT TON of platinum.
Okay ... another message to Keyleth, then. Imogen's making this sound SO desperate, too ...
Keyleth's still busy ... shit ...
Imogen: "She's not so righteous that she might turn us away?" Orym: "No. No."
Oh yeah, reckon Eshteross' house is the safest place for Laudna's body right now.
Sam, WHAT THE FUCK Re you doing with your flask THIS TIME?!!! C'mon, man!
Okay, so they're just telling Eshteross EVERYTHING then. Including the Residuum and the Cerberus Assembly ...
And now he's as worried as they are, clearly ...
Imogen: "I think all of us are in too deep to pull out now." Everybody slowly realises just what Laura actually just said and they start laughing. Cue Beavis and Butthead impressions and puerile laughter. Matt tries to carry on but he just loses it ... she has COMPLETELY derailed the episode. Was that by accident or intentional, Laura?
Oh no ... stale gingersnaps are no fun ... OH!!! Yeah, for Laudna! Yeah, that's a sweet idea. Eshteross is a baking sugar daddy and we love him for it. XD
Oh! Greater Potion of Healing! Sweet! Liam: "This dude's hoise is John Wick'd OUT!!!" Travis: "Trade-off is he can never find his TV remote."
Oh no ... Laudna's Vial of Blood has turned into a vial-full if ASH?!!! Gods ... I really didn't need THAT pain right now ...
Lead box into FCG's mouth? Really? He won't just digest it?
Dealing out the potions ...
Off to the Chandei Chambers, then ... is it Orlana or Alana Seshadri?
Imogen: (into guards head) "We have her bounty." Guard: "Come this way." Travis: "Nice!"
Wow, she just wants it right there, then ... okay. Ashton almost just dumps it all out right on the spot.
Information exchange, then ... the whole info dump? Nope, tit for tat ...
Ah yeah, Artana ... never mind, kid ...
The Nightmare King, then ... so she knows who Ira is. Not good. And then the Paragon's Call. Yeah, drop THAT name ...
Fearne does an insight check ... oh, 13? This is a politician, guys.
So, the Paragon's Call. Oh, so THEY'RE out now that Treshi's been found out. Okay, dodged THAT bullet at least.
Ashton has the crate with him ... so HE gets the Perry Mason moment instead of Chetney.
The Cerberus Assembly doesn't quite convince, it seems. They need proof for THAT ONE then. But otherwise ...
Okay, she's just walking off ... is this not a good thing, then? They're all getting paranoid, and I'm with them ...
Okay, payment ... but no favour. Yeah, that's about right.
Fearne: "Are you excited for the Apogee Solstice?" Seshadri: "I am not sure what that is." Ashley: "Insight check!" Everybody else: "Ooooooh!"
Chetney made a Bells Hells logo. Ashton takes exception and DEFINITELY wants final approval for THAT.
Wow ... 12,000 GP? Fucking hell ...
Wow, it IS getting late.
Meanwhile once again Laura's channeling Vex again as she divies up the coinage ...
Okay, NOW what? Taliesin: "Where's somewhere somebody could get in a lot of trouble attacking somebody in?"
Spire By Fire! Yay!
So Imogen and FCG are gonna go looking around in Ashton's head, then ... yeah, nothing could POSSIBLY go wrong with THAT plan ...
Holy fuck ... so Ashton basically died by stepping on a magic landmine? Ouch.
This whole death experience sequence is pretty much pure nightmare fuel ...
Oof ... Ashton's brain as a galactic representation of MEMORY? That's fucking trippy ...
Oh dear, is Imogen getting too deep into this? Shit, it looks like she IS. She's lost in Ashton's memory galaxy ...
Wait ... now FCG's trapped in there too? Fuck ...
They're trapped on opposite sides of the crystal prison ... Sam: "It's like Kirk and Spock!"
Sam: "I will cast Command on Ashton." Matt: "You need to SEE the subject of your Command." Sam: "Can I cast it on myself?" Matt: "You are an Ashton-based construct right now." Travis: (laughing) "Oh shit!"
This shit is starting to get dangerously psychedelic right now ... Travis' mind is being BLOWN right now. ALL of our minds are being blown ...
"There is strength, but there is pain. There is pain, but there is strength."
So Ashton is gonna try and punch himself in the head and rage ... yeah, this sounds like a truly IDIOTIC plan ... epic fail. This is NOT WORKING.
Wait ... did they just bust out? That was crazy. I mean that was A BLOODY MESS ...
Hahaha ... are they seriously saying that Ashton is the Universe Brain Man? That's fucken wild.
Ashton: "I thought maybe it wasn't just random fucking chaos but it is very much just random fucking chaos."
Whoa ... does that mean Ashton was once HUMAN?
So basically Ashton's brain is a psychic bear trap. Ashton: "I can respect that."
This whole group is a whole big mess of crazy backstory craziness. Except for Orym. Which is about right.
The night passes without incident. Now what?
Time go find a tree.
Imogen's casting a Sending spell ... on Delilah Briarwood. Fuck's sake, Imogen ...
She's dying. And she's taking Laudna with her ...
Okay ... going to wherever Keyleth is. That's the smart move.
Wow ... this place is GORGEOUS. The Bodhan Collective. Here we go ...
Okay, Terai seems like a completely fascinating individual. Quite adorable in fact.
Another message to Keyleth. This is getting complicated ... is she coming to them or are they going to her?
Oh shit! The tree portal thingy! Okay ... OH MY GOD!!! KEYLETH OF THE AIR ASHARI!!! THE VOICE OF THE TEMPEST!!! SHE'S HERE!!!
Whoa ... okay, she's still the same old Keyleth, then. That's adorable. I can't stop grinning like an idiot ...
Okay ... so are they all going with her to Whitestone? Really?
They rush through the archway ... and THAT'S the end of the episode.
So ... wait ... hey, that's cool ... could they maybe let MARISHA be Keyleth in this next episode? That would be so cool for her AND for us ...

okay okay okay but do they even have a diamond cause I don't remember? What if Laudna died? Is FCG (and Fearne) going to revive only one person have whoever is left dead? What if Delilah lets Laudna resurrect someone? Does this mean Imogen's evil? oh god oh oh god
Edit: WAIT if they can't get Orym up in a minute Dorian might be the only person able to pull him back. He might just choose to not come back.

So I know no one will see this but I wanted to put my thoughts on Campaign 3 out there cuz why not!
First off, the WORLDBUILDING. I am blown away by the descriptions Matt is using and I wanna live in this city so badly.
The lighting effects! They make me so happy bc you can see the cast's childlike joy, it's adorable.
The new characters are very fun and enjoyable. Marisha seems to be having the time of her life playing Laudna, Ashton is fucking incredible, FCG is adorable, and Imogen gives me flashbacks to my family in Alabama with her accent, it's adorable.
My theory for Freshly Cut Grass is that he's basically the Iron Giant - built as a war machine, but either doesn't know it or refuses to become one. Can't wait for him to roll a Wisdom save and turn evil :3
The EXU characters! Some people are talking about the theory that they might only be there while Robbie is there, which I like just fine, but I also enjoy them on their own too, and if they're here to stay than great! Ashley seems to be having such a good time playing Fearne, and Orym is such a fun fighter (Liam must be enjoying playing him so much). And Dorian is always fun too.
BERTRAND!!! I called it the moment Travis opened his mouth. Again, popular theory is that he's not playing him forever, which again, I'd be okay with, but he's also very fun too. Travis is getting a kick out of playing a geriatric old fighter, and I love it.
Regardless of future plans, the cast is having FUN!!! And I'm so happy for them!!!
Also the fact that they're back at the table makes me so happy.
I think that's about it. Looking forward to seeing what happens with the four returning characters, but whatever happens, I'm enjoying it immensely.

Day Twenty-Six. "Please don't do this"
“As entertaining as this is, I do have more important business to be attending to. I'd say it was a pleasure meeting all of you, but we all know I would be lying. Nevertheless, I'll leave you with this parting gift.” His finger flicked from Ashton to Dorian to Laudna, then a black tendril shot from it to strike all three. “Have fun.”
In a blink of an eye, he disappeared from sight leaving them alone in the large chamber with no clue where he might have gone. Not knowing where he went might have been more concerning if it weren't for the state of Dorian, Ashton and Laudna. Their eyes pulsed an inky black that spidered out across their faces in a weird tapestry of veins and arteries. At first, he thought they were paralyzed in place, then all three moved much quicker than they normally would.
Ashton's hammer connected with the front of Fresh Cut Grass's body, Laudna released two eldritch blasts that impacted against Imogen and Fearne, and Dorian struck out twice at Chetney. Before anyone else could act again, Orym quickly pushed himself between Dorian and Chetney with his shield raised. The force of Dorian's sword hitting the shield twice almost sent him stumbling backwards from the abnormal strength behind it. A peek over the top of it brought into view the snarl twisting Dorian's face in an expression he'd never seen directed at him. Even when they fought in the past, Dorian never looked at him with such pure hostility, like he wanted to kill him.
“Dorian, you don't want to do this.” The next swing went well wide of Orym, almost as if he intentionally missed. “We're your friends. You don't want to hurt us. If you let us, we'll help you.”
With a low growl, Dorian stepped around Orym to take a swipe at Chetney that he barely dodged in time. Chetney's eyes flicked over to Orym for a moment before he launched forward to grab at the hand holding the blade. The unexpected move caught Dorian off guard, preventing him from maintaining his grip on the sword. It clattered to the floor at the feet, but Chetney quickly snatched it up and shuffled away before Dorian could grab it.
Once again, Orym quickly stepped between the two of them to block Dorian's path to Chetney. “That's enough, Dorian. I can't let you hurt him or any of them. I won't hurt you, so you'll have to go through me.”
Dorian's lips pulled back in a snarl as magic began to crackle on his fingertips in a sickly green and black coloration. It looked unlike any of the magic Orym ever saw Dorian cast before. Normally, Dorian's magic came out bright and opalescent with a slight breeze to it that always reminded Orym of home. He weaved a beautiful tapestry into existence that Orym had never been able to grasp when his mother attempted to teach him druidic magic. Even still in his hand waiting to be released, it was obvious how different and twisted the magic was.
“Please, don't do this. You don't want to do this. I know this isn't you. Dorian-”
As soon as the muscles in his hands twitched, Orym adjusted his position to intercept the spell being fired to his left. The instant it impacted every cell in his body erupted in a blinding pain that brought him to his knees. It felt like whatever spell hit him lodged deep into his chest and rooted itself in his ribs like constricting vines. He wanted to reach through his skin to rip them away from the bone, but all he could do was gasp in pain.
It felt like an eternity later a hand took hold of his chin to lift his head up. When his eyes became able to focus, he found himself looking up into the black void that were once Dorian's bright blue eyes. The grip on his chin tightened to the point he thought the bone might crack from the pressure, then the glow of magic pulsed. All the vines in his chest tightened, breaking the bones protecting his lungs as easily as snapping a twig. His attempt to inhale sounded more like a wheeze that did little to bring more air into his undoubtedly punctured lungs.
With what little air he had, Orym spoke in a quiet voice that he wasn't sure Dorian would be able to hear and produced a blue flower in his hand. “Dorian, please.”
A flicker across Dorian's face so quickly that Orym thought it might just be a product of his desperate imagination in his last moments. The flair of magic confirmed that theory, until the pain didn't come. Instead, the comforting gale of Dorian's healing magic pieced together the shattered bones. While his eyes remained pitch black, the vines slackened their grip on him and the hand still on his chin violently shook. Slowly, Orym lifted his hand to move the one on his chin to his jaw.
“Dorian, I know you can hear me. You're stronger than whatever this magic trying to take you is. You can fight it, and you don't have to do it alone. I'm here. I'll always be here.”
Another flicker across the face as Dorian squeezed his eyes shut, then opened them to reveal they looked much closer to normal with only hints of black around the edges. “Orym?”
“I'm here.”
“You're hurt. I-” Tears prickled in the corners of Dorian's eyes, but he held them back in the process of dropping to his knees. “I'm so sorry. I didn't want to. I swear I didn't want to.”
“I know, Dorian. I know you wouldn't hurt me.”
“You should have run. You shouldn't have... You should've have jumped in the way like that. I could have killed you. I didn't want to, but I could have.”
“I wouldn't have let it come to that.”
“You didn't even try to hit me. All you did was stand in the way.”
“Dorian, I promise you I would have knocked you unconscious before you killed anyone, but I didn't want to hurt you unless I had to.”
Dorian placed a hand over Orym's chest with a swell of healing and a small frown. “But you still got hurt because of me.”
“Sometimes we hurt for the people we love. That doesn't make it less painful, but it can make it worth enduring. Plus, I know you'll heal me when I'm hurt.”
“Always. Whenever you need it.”

Critical Role Campaign 3 Episode 34
It's Thursday Night. On a Monday. Again. Gods help us this time, please ...
A Nord VPN sponsorship ad, and Ashley's being a spectacular little shit while making a balloon sword ... wow. She also does a MUCH better job than Sam, surprisingly.
Fuck me I'm SOOOOOO nervous right now.
Matt (grinning evilly): "So, when last we left off --" Travis: "Oh shut up!" Ashley: "Asshole!"
Matt: "Fresh Cut Grass ..." Sam: "But I'm just ... just a little boy!"
Ooooooh! FCG flashback! Oooooooh! Chetney flashback! And some LADIES!!! Oh ... okay, that werewolf thing doesn't make me too comfortable right now ...
Wait, Ashton's a HALF-ELF?!!! Did I miss something in his backstory?
Oh shit! The fucking Briarwoods! NOOOOOOO!!! Fuck! Please tell me Laudna's not full on POSSESSED right now ...
Awwwwww! Imogen's mum! Shit! Otohan! Evil bitch! Stop with the seduction thing! Imogen, listen to your mother! RUUUUUUNNNN!!!!
Yeah! Fuck her up, Imogen!
Whoa that storm REALLY made a fucking mess ... wait ... oh fuck! Laudna's stoll dying?
No, Marisha, not the Ruidus dice! AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! NATURAL 1?!!!
Oh gods ... she's really dead? What?
So FCG really knows they're all dead, then? Gods ... so now Sam has to do crucial game math to help ... this is not good.
Yeah, if Sam holds that action then somebody REALLY dies. I mean SOMEBODY'S gonna die anyway, but ... oh fuck ...
Oof ... sexy Chetney ... not the time, Travis!
"Welcome back, Schrodinger. "
BITE ORYM?!!! Seriously?
Laudna's not there anymore, Imogen. Meanwhile Travis does an Ed Harris-in-The-Abyss.
Oh shit! Treshi! Good point! COCK RING?!!!
Initiative going FAST!!!
Oof ... so Revivify doesn't just work automatically? COME ON!!!
Bring Fearne back, PLEASE!!!
Oh man ... Sam, please roll well ...
10? Is that good or bad?
Choices, choices ... YES!!!! She lives! Thank fuck for that ...
Fearne: "How's everybody doing?" FCG: "BAD!!!" Fearne: "Okay."
Who, seriously? SECONDS?!!!
Ashton's gonna give up a BIG FAVOUR to Jianna ... oof ...
Dash, Chetney! Dash!
Oh gods what can Imogen even do for Laudna? What? SERIOUSLY?!!! IMOGEN NO!!!
Fearne: "What do you mean, Orym's dead?"
DOES SHE have a diamond?
Holy shit, Fearne is PANICKING!!!
Oh gods everybody's in the wrong place and too far apart snd there's no time and I AM FREAKING OUT HERE!!! HELP THEM SOMEBODY!!!
Imogen: "DON'T DRAG HER!!!" Ashton: "I'm not gonna drag her like a fucking ragdoll!"
Wow, Laura's getting SO SNIPPY about this!
Yeah, the whole time Liam is just SITTING HERE and SUFFERING!!! The nightmare of bring a spectator right now.
DAMN IT!!! WHO HAS THE DIAMONDS?!!!
Fearne doesn't know who to choose, this is Sophie's Choice!
The darkest rollies of all time ...
"Who votes for Orym?" Oh my gods ... hysterically desperate laughter ensues.
The god-coin ...
Marisha's hoodie ... SERIOUSLY?!!!
Imogen messages Delilah ... "Get your ass down here and BRING HER BACK!!!"
It's Orym. Oh gods, Laudna ... please help our dead lady get back somehow please ...
Okay Fearne, bring or sweet wee man back. PLEASE.
17 ... oh fuck ... that's ... yes, that's SO GOOD.
Oh fuck ... Orym sees Will. And he wants to stay but he hears Fearne ... gods, this hurts so much ...
I'm trying to type through my tears right now because Matt an Liam ate breaking my heart ... but ORYM'S BACK!!!
Fuck ... they can't do anything to bring Laudna back and MARISHA IS LEAVING THE STUDIO!!!
Treshi is alive, at least. But HE can't do anything. BACK IN THE HOLE, BITCH!!!
Imogen's echoing her thoughts to everybody and it's just "I'M SORRY" over and over again! Jesus Christ ...
Don't put her in the hole with that prick. Just GET OUT OF THERE before those arseholes come out.
Early break and everybody's just SHELL-SHOCKED right now ...
So Fearne's still a klepto, at least she's not COMPLETELY off her game right now.
Oh ... stealth rolls ... argh ...
Back to Imahara Joe's place ...
Nearly suffocated Treshi again. Just in time.
No ... looks like they're safe. Crazy high rolls, guys.
Joe: "What am I in right now?" Deep shit, Joe.
Down in a hole, feeling so small ...
Joe offers his staff hazard pay ... as you should, Joe. As you should.
FCG anxiety eating bolts like popcorn.
Treshi spills the beans ... Ashton punches him. Okay ...
23 on on insight check ... Ashley gets a whisper and Sam forgets who to plug.
FCG tries to intimidate Treshi with his saw, Sam rolls a shit intimidation check and the saw jams ...
Whoa ... Orym got SUPER intimidating there. 23? SERIOUSLY?!!! Wee man is TERRIFYING ...
Another whisper for Laura! Sam loses the page so Travis does the plug instead.
"LAUDNA IS DEAD." For such s sad diary entry that shit was weirdly funny ...
So what exactly ARE these potions? And WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!!!
Laura: "I've just got Laudna's head in my lap." Yeah, Imogen's not gonna be any good to ANYBODY right now.
Oooooooooh ... so that's the same shit that's in Otohan's weird backpack thingy. "Poop soldiers." Oh dear ...
Oh, a short rest ... yeah, they sure need one of THOSE.
Scary smell? Hmmmmm ...
Check the box for traps, Chet. 24. It's trapped. Let's wait until we have more hit points, shall we?
Anything metal will set it off. Chetney: "Good thing I'm a master of WOOD." And how does THAT help right now, Travis? Do tell? Matt is skeptical.
Warn Eshteross. Fix Laudna. Get the hell out of there. Quite the to-do list ...
Morri? Really? Is she an option?
Whoa ... take Laudna to WHITESTONE?!!!
Yes! Keyleth! That's the ticket! Do that!
What's even to discuss? C'mon, Keyleth would totally help, especially for Orym, right?
Whoa ... Imogen telekinetically dead-puppeting Pate is just ... wrong ...
Chetney makes a PERFECT replica of his thieves' tools out of mahogany.
Imogen trying to get all her sorcery points back on a short rest: "Fuck me running! Only on a LONG rest!"
Fearne flicks Chetney's nipple to give him guidance ... he opens the lock without incident.
Residuum? Whoa ...
Laura: "Are you gonna snort it?" Chetney: "I'm just gonna do a number."
Whoa ... Chetney is now high as a kite.
Orym: "This SHOULDN'T BE HERE."
Disarm the box or just take the residuum separately? This stuff is potentially volatile ...
No! DO NOT put it in FCG!!!
Joe covers their arses by building a shitty lead box to order. That's definitely worth 300 gold.
A Potion of Possibility ... oooh, that sounds pretty awesome actually. They have TWO OF THEM!!!
Wood can't hurt Chetney!
What's the password? Chetney: "Uh ... grundle!" Ashton: "That might be it, I have no idea."
Super high roll, the box is badly lo ked so he just carves it open without bothering with the lock ... SIX MORE POTIONS!!! Yeah, that's enough for EVERYBODY!!!
Sam: "Laura's keeping a second inventory list because SHE DOESN'T TRUST Ashley Johnson!" Ashley, talking about Fearne: "I don't want to because I am a scatterbrained person."
Cock-ring of Revivification take 2 ...
Ashton starts turning Laudna into a mummy with bandages to keep her preserved for longer.
Oh, the Shifting Face statue! Hello again!
As he's on watch ... Orym thinking about how what Imogen's going through reminds him of hid own loss ... oh man ...
Oh shit ... who's up there? Okay ... Joe has to bluff his way out of this ... everybody HIDE!!!
Everybody's hiding in the tunnel now ... no. Seriously, no Dancing Lights!
Oh ... okay ... looks like that worked ...
Imogen uses Open Mind to see if there are any thoughts on the other side of the door ... wow, that is a BOSS MOVE, Laura! Success ... nothing there. Phew ...
Chetney opens the door ... and let's go the fart he's been holding onto.
FCG watches Chetney through his whole watch spining his saw while contemplating the fight at the start of the day (weeks back now, it seems) ...
Imogen's FEATS?!!! Sneaky sneaky ...
FCG apologises for the fight by ... SAM GIVING TRAVIS A TOOLBOX FOR CHETNEY'S TOOLS!!!
Fearne has a point, they need to talk about what Imogen did in that battle ...
Yeah, Imogen is dealing with A LOT right now ... whoa, so that was a proper flashback for her? Otohan WAS there?
Whoa ... Ashton saw his PARENTS?!!! So THAT was real too ... the armour he stole back in the museum is a serious clue? Ooooooh ...
Wow, that armour looks pretty sweet ...
Orym recognises the armour ... this is Hishari stuff, apparently. Sounds heavy ...
Ashton's remembering stuff ... Sam sneezes. Ashley (at Sam): "Stop it!" (It's back! XD)
Imogen calls the airship. Oh man ... I love hearing Matt do that accent again, I'd quite forgotten.
Yeah, an Orym hug is JUST what the doctor ordered. Imogen, honey, it's not on you, that shit was just fucked to begin with.
Good point ... what even ARE those marks on Imogen's arms?
That's true, now we KNOW that Imogen is a BADASS. It's a good thing ... hopefully ...
Nearly suffocating Treshi has become Ashton's new favourite game.
A pinch of salt? Oh! Gentle Repose. Cool. Laudna is good for 10 days? Nice ...
Imogen messages Eshteross ... he doesn't know anything that can help Laudna right now. THEN they remember he's in danger, so FCG has to send one too ... "You in danger, girl!" XD
Eshteross prepares to defend himself like a badass. Cue several Schwarzenegger impressions ...
Chetney makes FCG an emotional clock to indicate his mood just in case ... it's deeply weird ...
"Is there one here for eye rolls?" Liam: "The doomsday clock is a concern."
Imogen: "How much money do you have left, Chetney?" Chetney: "Well I can't swim in it anymore."
So Joe wants them gone, and it's understandable, but he is clearly fond of them. It's quite sweet, really.
Ashton asks Joe to look out for some of the other Greymoore kids for him ... ooh, backstory ...
Not the best group stealth check, but ... phew, they made it. Oh, wait ... crawlers ... is this a problem?
Run and grab! Run and grab!
Almost everybody gets good rolls ... Imogen hits the stragglers with a Fly spell. Chetney FLOATS!!! Chetney: "What ... devilry?" Chetney thinks HE'S the one doing it.
YES!!! They're all on board! Phew ...
Ho boy ... good place to end the session ...
"We lost one, guys!" Yeah ... tell me about it, Sam. Please let this be something that can be fixed ...

Day One. Head Wound
The sickening crack of Orym's head striking the floor made his blood run cold in fear. The person that did it barely got the beginnings of a laugh out before Ashton clocked them over the head. A hush fell over the patrons of the bar as they all stared at the potential fight about to break out. Before Ashton or the other could make a move, Dorian rushed over to hurry Orym away from getting stepped on. Without looking over his shoulder, Dorian exited the bar knowing the others would be more than capable of taking care of whatever happened next.
Fresh air greeted them upon the door opening, blowing gently through them on a light breeze. After getting far enough away from the bar they wouldn't be easily seen by angry patrons storming out, he helped Orym sit down against the side of a building. His eyes struggled to focus on Dorian, obviously disoriented from the hit to his head. Not wanting to cause any pain, Dorian carefully prodded along the side of his head in search of a knot or open wound. A small patch of blood clinging to his hair brought a frown to his face as he internally cursed not having the energy to heal it.
Knowing FCG was just as tapped out, the search for something useful in his bag took longer than he liked. The entire time Orym watched him with his head slightly tilted to the side and eyes rapidly blinking. He went willingly when Dorian tipped his head forward to make applying the healing salve easier, then sat blessedly still the entire time it took Dorian to fumble through wrapping his head. When he finally finished, Orym didn't look any less dazed. If anything, he looked even more so with the bright white of the bandage.
“How does your head feel?”
“Feel fine. Super great.” A hint of a slur lacing the ends of his words strung them together to almost form one long word. “It's dark.”
“Yes, it is. Do you think you can stand?”
“Of course, I can. Stand a lot. Do lots of it.”
“That is true. How about I help you up, then we'll see where the others are?”
“Did we lose them? Should find them. Like them. Can't leave Fearne alone long. She steals things.”
“Up we get then.”
No argument came from Orym when he slipped two hands under his armpits to help get him on two feet. “Why is the world spinning?”
“Give it a moment.”
“You have... three heads. No, two heads. When did that happen?”
“Let's just wait here for a couple minutes. The others can wait.”
While he didn't expect it, waiting meant Orym leaning against his legs with his arms wrapped around his thigh. The press of his face against Dorian's hip sent a wave of worry through him that his patch up job hadn't been enough. There were times Orym got tactile, but he wasn't one to cling and force himself close.
Before he could check on Orym again, the now familiar sensation of Imogen on the edge of his mind took his attention. “Dorian, are you and Orym alright?”
“I've done what I can, but he's a little... concussed?”
“Oh, poor thing! He did hit his head mighty hard. Ashton dealt with the guy, but we thought it best to call it a night. Are you still around here somewhere?”
“Yes, we'll meet you outside the bar.”
“We'll be waiting.”
After a moment of indecision, he gave Orym a little tap on the shoulder that earned him a grunt in response. “The others are waiting for us.”
“World's still spinning.”
“I have an idea, but I need you to let me go for a second.”
When the seconds dragged on, he began to think Orym wouldn't do it without more coaxing, then the hold slowly loosened. He waited for Orym's arms to drop completely before lowering to a squat in front of him. Yet again, it took Orym a couple seconds to process what was happening. His normal grace eluded him as he scrambled onto Dorian's back, then went completely limp the instant Dorian secured his hands around his thighs to hold Orym in place.
“Wrap your arms around my neck.” Once sinewy arms locked around his neck, Dorian slowly rose from the ground to avoid making Orym feel worse. “Can I walk?”
“Slow.”
“I will.”
Much slower than he normally would, Dorian stepped into the main street and headed back to the bar. Thankfully, the others took notice well before he arrived, so they met closer to the street they needed to get back to their lodgings. Worried looks locked onto the spot on his shoulder where Orym's head rested, but none spoke a word.
In fact, they remained unusually quiet on their winding way back to the inn. Those that spoke did so in low voices that Dorian could barely make out, not that he tried particularly hard to hear them. All his focus went to keeping his pace slow and listening for any sign of Orym expressing discomfort. It wasn't until Orym's breathing slowed that a sudden thought struck Dorian that nearly brought him to a stop.
“Orym, I need you to wake up. Orym?” Awkwardly craning his neck to check on him proved that his efforts did nothing to waken him. “Wake up, Orym. Eyes open. Now.”
“Why?”
“You hit your head. You can't sleep right now.”
“But I'm tired.”
“I know, but I can't keep an eye on you right now. Stay awake until we get to the inn, then I'll let you sleep."
“Talk to me?”
He desperately searched his mind for a topic that would sufficiently distract Orym from his body's craving for sleep. “I've been working on a new song. It's not much, but I like what I have so far.”
“Will you play it for me?”
“What? Right now?”
“Could you do that?”
“Uh, no. I need my lute and my hands."
“Will you play it to me when we get back?” Orym's arms tightened around his neck and his head tipped to bump against Dorian's cheek. “I love your music.”
“If that's what you want, then yes. I'll play for you when we get back.”
“Whatever I want?”
“Yes.”
Lips pressed against his cheek in a fleeting kiss that lit his face on fire, which only grew when Imogen looked back with a knowing smile. “My hero.”

Day Twenty-Three. "Don't Leave!"
He knew something was going on when Orym paused with his fork halfway to his mouth and eyes suddenly unfocused. His head cocked to the side like he was trying to make sense of what he heard. A slow frown took over his blank face, then the fork in his hand slipped free of his fingers to the plate below. The unfocused look in his eyes shifted to something closer to dazed and, not necessarily confused, something closer to uncomprehending.
His lips formed words that Dorian couldn't quite make out, then he released a shuddering breath that shook his entire body. Despite wanting nothing more than to place a comforting hand on Orym shoulder, the expression on his face made him uncertain whether that would help. Instead, he waited for some sign that Orym might be coming out of his daze. When several long minutes passed of nothing happening, the urge grew too great for him to hold back any longer.
As soon as his hand touched Orym's shoulder, unseeing eyes shifted their empty stare to him. “Orym? What happened? Did someone send you a message?”
“Keyleth.”
“You mean the-What did she want?”
“My...” Those blank eyes switched in an instant to their normally expressive nature, but he wasn't prepared for the tears forming in them. “It's my mom. She's not doing well. She got sick. I-I don't know. She was fine. You saw her. She was fine.”
“Do we have a way to get back quickly?”
“We were going to take an airship.”
“Then we'll ask around to find the next one that leaves for Tal'Dorei.”
“What if we don't make it in time?”
“Don't think like that. Your mother is strong. She'll probably get better before we even get there and berate you for thinking you needed to come back at all.”
“Keyleth wouldn't have someone send me a message if it wasn't serious.”
“That doesn't mean the worst is going to happen, Orym, but we should still get you home as quickly as possible.”
After a moment of staring, Orym gave a jerky nod of agreement and took a deep breath to help calm himself. “What about your brother? We can't just leave him here when there's an enormous bounty on his head.”
“We knew that getting him out of the city might be the best option. If that's what has to happen because you need to go home, then we'll go with that route. Cyrus can deal with it.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course, I'm sure, Orym. I'm not going to let you do this on your own. All we need to do is find an airship to Tal'Dorei. How about I go handle that while you get all of our stuff together?”
“Don't leave!” A strong hand shot out to grip Dorian's wrist in a bruising hold that he wouldn't have been able to shake if he wanted to. “I can't... Please don't leave.”
“I won't. We'll do it together. We don't have a lot of things to pack. It shouldn't take long. After that, we go check out when the next airship to Tal'Dorei is. If we're lucky, it'll depart soon.”
“What do we tell the others?”
“That's up to you. We can tell them we're getting my brother out of town and someone from your home offered to help him if you don't want to tell them what happened.”
“We shouldn't lie to them. They're our friends.”
Dorian moved his free hand to rest comfortingly on Orym's back and started to slowly rub in circles. “We can tell them something important came up, so you need to return home for a while. I'm sure they'll understand.”
“What if they need us?”
“Orym, I mean this in the kindest way possible, but it's time to be selfish. The others can handle themselves while we're gone. This is important to you. You shouldn't put it aside for the sake of everyone else.”
It took Orym a moment to process his words, then the tears that had been threatening to fall broke free. Instinctively, he pulled Orym into a tight hold that tucked him safely against his chest to protect him from the world. So often Orym seemed larger than life, especially in the heat of battle, but in this moment, he felt so small. Small enough the Dorian felt like he could cover him completely from everything that could possibly try to hurt him. But Orym was too strong to ever let him do that for him. The best he could do was help him carry the burden.
With that in mind, he pulled Orym tighter into his chest and gently started running his fingers through Orym's hair to calm him. It was one of the few forms of comfort given to him as a child, which he hoped translated the same way to Orym. The last thing he needed right now was to feel uncomfortable because Dorian did something he didn't like while he was crying his eyes out. He already had so much to deal with and all Dorian wanted to do was help. Regardless of anything else, that's exactly what he would do.
When the shaking finally died down, Orym waited a few more minutes before he pulled back from Dorian's chest. Green eyes now bright red and puffy along the eyelids looked up at him with a level of exhaustion that normally came after a hard fight. After a moment of staring, Orym straightened himself up and wiped at the tears still staining his cheeks.
“We should get going. The later in the day it gets, the less likely they'll be to have tickets to Tal'Dorei for today.”
“Pack first?”
“Yeah.” Orym slid onto his slightly shaky feet and waited until Dorian joined him to start heading for the stairs. “We should see if the others are awake. We need to tell them before we leave in case we don't have time to come back.”
“I'll follow your lead. Just tell me what you need me to do, and I'll do it.”
“Thank you, Dorian.”
“You're welcome. Lead the way.”

Day Seven. Used As An Experiment
“It was bound to happen eventually, right?” While he wanted to argue with Chris, that would mean lying to him. “They're working on a cure, Leon.”
“I know.”
“Don't say it like that. They've come up with cures to these viruses before. It might take a while, but they can do this. Last I heard, they even called in Rebecca. They're going to have the best people working on this.”
“And they'll be poking and prodding at you like a lab rat until they figure it out.”
“It's part of the process. There's nothing we can do about that.”
“Yeah.”
With the thick glass between them, Chris couldn't reach out to touch him like he normally would in situations like this. “I'll be cured before you know it. They mentioned something about it being similar enough to the other variants we've been seeing recently that it shouldn't take much tweaking to figure it out.”
“And if it doesn't, you could be stuck in here for months.”
“That's better than hurting people or having to be killed. I wouldn't say no to company.”
“You know I won't be able to do that. They're already working on the details for a new mission to send me on. These attacks have been relentless. They can't risk waiting around for you to get better.”
“Make sure you take Piers with you. You need someone to watch your back. There are too many moving pieces for you to be going out alone.”
“They won't give me a choice. I'm trained as a solo operative. If they feel they need to send me in alone, that's what they'll do.”
“What they'll do is risk getting one of the best people they have infected or killed.”
“It wouldn't be the first time I got infected.” The silence that followed felt heavier than he expected his words might cause. “Umbrella and all these other organizations keep coming up with these fucked up experiments and we're left to suffer. How many people have we lost because they're testing something out or using them to test something? It's all just a game to them. The lives of people mean nothing.”
“We're doing our best to counteract them. Not just us, but Rebecca and all the other scientists that dedicate themselves to creating cures. Claire fights for people in ways that we never could. We're not alone in this, Leon.”
“That doesn't make it easier. That doesn't stop you from being stuck in that room because of it.”
“Is this about what we talked about last week?”
After taking a moment to consider the question, Leon gave a little shrug of his shoulders. “I don't know. Maybe. Do you ever feel like we're just puppets in someone's game that they're pulling the strings on for fun? They just do whatever they want to us-send us halfway around the world, shoot us, beat us, toss us around, experiment on us. When was the last time we had any sort of control over our lives?”
“Do you want the honest answer?”
“I know the answer, Chris. We both do.”
“I promised you I would seriously consider it after this last mission. Since I'm stuck in here, I won't have much else to do. I'll think about it.”
“You'll have to tell me what you decide when I get back.”
“I will.” For a second, Chris's hand started to lift like he was going to reach out to touch Leon, only to drop back to his side when he remembered the glass. “Be careful. They might have come up with a new variant by now. Who knows how they decided to change it if they did.”
“I'll be careful. Don't give them too hard a time. They're just doing their job, which doesn't include listening to you complain.”
“What do I have to complain about? This is practically a vacation for me.”
“We need to change that because this is the opposite of a vacation. I'll come back as soon as I can.”
“I'll be here.”
He took one last look at Chris, then exited the viewing room to the containment cell that Chris would be stuck in for the foreseeable future. It didn't surprise him to find Rebecca in the connecting room typing away on a laptop. When her eyes caught sight of him, her fingers paused on the keys. She straightened up from her leaned position to move closer to Leon-hands clasped tightly together and serious expression on her face.
“How is he doing?”
“Seems fine. He'll get bored if you don't give him something to occupy his time. He doesn't do well with just sitting around.”
“I've already sent someone to get him a few things. Are you leaving already?”
“They need to send me out again. Keep an eye on him for me? And on all these people. I trust you, but...”
“They've put me in charge of this. Everything that goes into him is going to go through me.”
“Thank you.”
The first hint of a smile tipped up the corners of her lips, then she pulled something out of her pocket that she held out to him. “Take this with you. It's not a cure-all, but it should slow the progression if you get infected. It's the best I can do on short notice.”
“Thank you for this and for keeping an eye on Chris. I know you've been doing it longer than I have. You deserve a break from it.”
“In my experience, it takes a team to keep an eye on him. The more of us the better.”
“Well, I'll take over for you when I get back.”
“Hopefully,” Rebecca returned to her laptop to continue her rapid typing. “you'll be taking me to the airport, so I can get back home.”
“If not, you know you're always welcome in our home. The spare bedroom isn't anything fancy, but it's better than being stuck at a hotel or here.”
“Thanks for the offer.”
“You're welcome. I'll be back as soon as I can.”
“I'll take care of Chris. Don't worry about him.”
“I trust you.”
