things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread

Part 3: The Titan's Curse

The truth was I was kind of disappointed to hear that she liked her new school so much. It was the first time she'd gone to school in New York. I'd been hoping to see her more often.

I tried to concentrate on little things, like the crepe-paper streamers and the punch bowl - anything but that fact that Annabeth was taller than me, and my hands were sweaty and probably gross, and I kept stepping on her toes.

"The General?" I asked. Then I realised I'd said it in a French accent. "I mean... who's the General?" I want this part to be in the show

"Sweet! Let's go! [to CHB]" said Nico. this breaks my heart. he was so excited in this book

Tyson thought Annabeth was just about the coolest thing since peanut butter (and he seriously loved peanut butter).

"How would you kidnap an immortal goddess? Is that even possible?" "Well, yeah. I mean, it happened to Persephone." "But she was like, the goddess of flowers." Grover looked offended. "Springtime." you tell him grover

"That's some serious danger you're facing." Connor Stoll said. (I liked how he said you and not we.) I'm just imagining the rest of the campers not bothering to go on quests cause it's always the same few demigods and they don't care, they're just chilling safe at CHB while Percy and Annabeth do their things

The creature looked at me sadly. "Moooo!" But I couldn't understand his thoughts. I only speak horse. Percy Jackson speaks two languages: English and Horse

With a shiver, I realised that five hundred or a thousand years from now, Bianca di Angelo would look exactly the same as she did today. She might be having a conversation like this with some other half blood long after I was dead but Bianca would still look twelve years old. ouch

"It wants to kill us!" Thalia said. "Of course." Grover said. "It's wild!" "So how is that a blessing?" Bianca asked.

"That's us," he said. "Those five nuts right there." "Which one is me?" I asked. "The little deformed one," Zoe suggested.

When she smiled at me, just for a moment she looked a little like Annabeth. I know everyone talks about this part but I can't help but bring it up again, they are so cute

"Woah, first of all, I never said anything about love. And second, what's up with tragic!" little does he know. also, Percy is so incredibly insightful in this book but he's also so jealous of Annabeth and Luke and so upset about the idea of her joining the hunters yet still can't figure out that he likes her

"Seven hundred feet tall," I said. "Built in the 1930s." "Five million cubic acres of water," Thalia said. Grover sighed. "Largest construction project in the United States." Zoe stared at us. "How do you know all that?" "Annabeth," I said. "She liked architecture." I cannot explain how much this little bit means to me.

The girl I'd just tried to slice in half yelped and dropped her Kleenex. "Oh my god." she shouted. "Do you always kill people when they blow their nose?" Rachel's here!!! I love her

Five minutes later, Zoe had me outfitted in a ragged flannel shirt and jeans three sizes too big, bright red sneakers, and a floppy rainbow hat. someone draw this and tag me. what an outfit

Suddenly it occurred to me: this had happened to her before. She had been cornered on Half-Blood Hill. She'd willingly given her life for her friends. But this time, she couldn't save us. How could I let that happen to her? he is the most empathetic, wholesome guy, I love Percy

"Can't this go any faster?" Thalia demanded. Zoe glared at her. "I cannot control traffic." You both sound like my mother." I said. "Shut up!" they said in unison. I kind of wish we got more Thalia and Zoe interactions... they would've made such a great enemies to lovers dynamic, if Zoe didn't die

"Get away from my daughter!" Dr Chase called down, and his machine gun burst to life, peppering the ground with bullet holes and startling the whole group of monsters into scattering. "Dad?" yelled Annabeth in disbelief.

Grover went off with his satyr friends to spread the word about our strange encounter with the magic of Pan. Within an hour, the satyrs were all running around agitated, asking where the nearest espresso bar was.

"No," I said. "I choose the prophecy. It will be about me." "Why are you saying that?" she cried. "You want to be responsible for the whole world?" It was the last thing I wanted, but I didn't say that. I knew I had to step up and claim it. "I can't let Nico be in any more danger." I said. might I remind you this boy is 13/14 and has the whole world on his shoulders (both literally at some point and figuratively)

I feel like these are just getting longer and longer but again, I will be back for part 4!

DID YOU SEE THE MOVIE??? IT WAS BEAUTIFUL

The best 120 minutes of my life were there

I know I haven't posted anything in a while, but the university has seriously been ruining me. To be honest, I still haven't been able to make much progress on the next chapter, but as a reward, I decided to give you the context of my story. So today I come to explain what the hell is going on here :)))

It's been a while since the end of the second season, they're all a year older, and apparently blue is the leader now. Does everyone like the idea? Nop

The boys managed to save the world after the almost destruction of everything at the hands of the Shedder, but not without leaving consequences. Strange cracks have recently been reported in the hidden city and New York. These cracks usually appear in random places, have magical properties, their exponential growth periodically, and are characterized by being accompanied by earthquakes wreaking havoc on both worlds. If they do not stop them soon the reality of both civilizations could be harmed. However, no one knows precisely the cause of these, their nature, or their true power... except for Draxum(? He has seen that kind of brilliance before, in his years as a warrior, yokai alchemist, and hater of humans.

As a last resort to save the world, he decides to look for someone who he hurt terribly in the past, Usagi.

Usagi is a 16 year old boy, he was born and raised on the outskirts of the hidden city in a very gated traditional community. Where what is professed is the importance of teaching and preserving the traditions of the first yokais who came from Japan to New York settling in the hidden city to build a new life there. Some time ago, his clan was the only one that had New York, they supported each other. They had a great sense of community and union thanks to the great chief who was blessed with the power of the gods to bring harmony and order.

However, with the passage of time and modernization of human society, several members were moving away from it opting for other forms and lifestyles. This greatly displeased the sages and elders within society, causing new severe rules against anything related to change. Thereby creating a smaller, closed, and remote community until total isolation.

Usagi was born into a society almost forgotten and close to change, he as the only son of the boss, had to learn everything necessary to one day succeed his father and continue with the tradition, he is aware of this. He knows the importance of this. He loves his father and loves his people.

But is it really what usagi wants? What if it wasn't?

Sadly before he could know the answer to that question, misfortune knocked on his door.

"Being different takes you bad places son"

It is one of the words he remembers most from his father as he waits his turn in the cell to get in the ring and fight for his life followed by Draxum's face, he cannot forget it, nor does he want to. Yes, there was a time when he believed he would be the chief. He really thought that some days he would make a change. He thought that he had friends. Did he was someone? Did he ever have a life?

Now he only fights to survive one more day... until some turtle boys appeared to look for him.

Things have not been easy for mad dogs, since the change of leadership from Leo to Rapha, the missions have become more complicated not to mention that his success rate in these has been declining thanks to Leo always ending up acting on his own more than in a team causing arguments between him and Rapha, followed by his two other brothers trying to calm them down.

Raphael is the older brother of the boys, he has been the natural leader of his brothers for years, and despite that, the truth is he has no problem with leaving the leadership to Leo. That is, at first the whole thing brought him a lot of mixed feelings. Was there anything wrong with him? If he was no longer the leader of the mad dogs, what is his role in the team? It was all very confusing, but if Dad thinks it's the right decision to make Leo the leader, that's fine, he wants to support him and teach him everything he knows. But sometimes it's so complicated and frustrating to make Leo understand that every decision that he makes has consequences. The most recent thing they must solve now are those rare and complicated cracks. Honestly, they have Rapha very worried and if Leo does not take it seriously, he does not know what else he can do.

Mikey was always the youngest in the family, he was always loved and protected by his older brothers since dad was not always available for them due to personal problems related to PTSD. Therefore it is normal that he has never liked the conflicts between his brothers and since the change of roles, these have become more frequent. He genuinely wants to help everyone, he is no longer a child who must be overprotected by others, sometimes he can also do the same for his siblings, listen to his problems, propose solutions, and talk.

Things like that.

It's just frustrating that they always underestimate his abilities and treat him like a baby by hiding things that they think he can't handle. Since the magical cracks appeared Mikey has the feeling that this could be his chance to show his brothers that he can help them too, he is the most magical of the family he just needs a chance.

Donnie has never been the best when it comes to feelings or change. There are many things that have changed since the battle with the shedder, starting with Leo who is now apparently the leader. Honestly, he is not very sure about this new change in the team, I mean he loves his brother and he must admit that he has some leadership qualities, but Raphael has always been in charge of leading them, it is a big change that he is terrified that It's going to go wrong and to be fair over the last few weeks Leo hasn't helped him change his mind. Recently cracks started appearing everywhere and maybe his brothers don't understand but if they don't work as a team this could go very wrong, not being good at this feeling thing, he doesn't know how to tell others his worries about the cracks.

Draxum insists that he knows someone. Yeah, of course. Let's trust him.

Leonardo, to be fair with him…

He never wanted to be the leader, "the face man" was a much more comfortable title for him. Honestly, what was dad thinking about that decision? Everyone knew that he didn't have the ability to be the leader, you don't have to be very smart to realize that he's not the one for the job. Being the leader of the mad dogs comes with so much responsibility and pressure, you only have to look at Rapha's forehead to know what he meant. Not to mention that everyone is against his way of doing things, he doesn't want to be the leader, but when he tries, nobody listens to him! He gets results, right? What is the problem, then?? Maybe he doesn't take it too seriously, but he just doesn't want to do this. Must be a bad dad joke and by this point, it's not funny anymore.

The cracks appeared recently and Draxum says that he knows someone who might have an answer for her, he honestly just wants to accomplish this one more mission to prove her point, until a cute boy shows up.

I thought about this comic as a way in which I would like to develop different aspects such as trauma, sexuality, their relationships with each other, and insecurities of the characters within the TMNT universe, etc. Since I didn't want this to get stuck on just in one ship. This led me to make the comic longer than I originally intended... and I mean A LOT longer.

For example, the typical rivalry between Leonardo and Raphael, but taken in a different way where Rapha tried to be like a mentor/guide for Leo developing their friendship (just like in the movie)

Donnie's problems over the idea that Draxum is now one of the good guys and he honestly doesn't believe him and doubts that someone like him can change so quickly.

Show a nice relationship between Mikey and Leo, where Angelo acts as a support for his brother and Leo is really willing to listen to Mikey's concerns.

I had planned that after Leo, Donnie would be the one who gets along best with Usagi although no one knows why, maybe it's because they are both quite quiet. At some point, Usagi turns to Don to tell him about his confused feelings for Leo, but Donnie would not be of much help in this regard because I was thinking of doing him aro/ace hahaha therefore he does not understand 100% what is happening to these two but he is sure They like each other and it's annoying to hear them both being so dramatic.

Another relationship I wanted to show would be Rapha's with Cass. In other adaptations, we saw that they have been very close and I wanted them to get along in some way in my AU. For example that Rapha and Cass started talking to each other since he helped her with anger management issues and getting over her past as part of the Foot Clan.

Leosagi wouldn't be the only ship in the AU either. I love Cass x April and I imagine them in a dynamic of enemies to lovers, for me they are girlfriends and I don't care what the rest say they love each other. Since they helped each other grow up, Splinter was the first to notice that they both have a lot in common even if they don't notice it.

Venus de milloooo, she will definitely have an antagonist role~ a turtle that splinter forgot to take and after surviving on her own in the streets of the hidden city. She ended up in the hands of big mama, being one of her champions in the battle of the nexus, earning her trust, leveling up and working for her as her right hand.

Finally, I think about including other characters for which I already have designs and others I don't see idk I want to pamper myself. Everything is possible.

Comic part 1

note 1: to be honest I doubt very much that I will draw the complete story that I develop for this Au, due to lack of time and nobody is paying me asdhadkjk at most a couple of vignettes of my favorite parts, explain the context, fanarts, and designs. But nothing more, I would let the fandom do what they want with this idea, just write leosagi fanfics please, I emotionally depend on that.

When I asked my uncle Khader Shaat, 47, about the poetry verse that he inscribed on the embroidered, handmade notebook about 30 years ago in Asqalan Israeli prison, he told me that it was the fuel that made him survive.

'Clinging to a life of freedom kept me alive,' he said, remembering the notebook he made out of black fabric and framed using many beads.

Khader Shaat was detained when he was 17, sent to prison as a child, and released as a very strong young man. ... Israel detains these children for nothing more than being Palestinian. You may be walking in the street, performing your prayer at a mosque or a church, doing your job at a company, studying for your exam to a school, or whatever and whenever. The accusation is homelove. They want the young Palestinians to grow up with fear, to stop raising their voices, to never defend their land.

Khader spent four years in Israeli detention facilities, and a part of him still exists in prison. He relives his experiences there through his memories, stories, and art.

'I still remember that some inscribed their emotions on letters or prison walls by their blood [spilled during] interrogation. It is known that the prison walls are a huge picture of emotional documentation. We used to know previous detainees through their writings.'

Pictures drawn in blood link decades of legacies of people who have been imprisoned and tortured by Israeli guards. A hidden archive of poems, letters, drawings, and handmade objects—containing stories of resistance, messages of despair, and hope—amass behind prison walls. Throughout each resounds a pulsing call for freedom. ... Detained Palestinians don't just suffer the loss of their years or their family members, but they also mourn the loss of the only hope to have a legacy outside the prison. They live in fear of losing their art.

'I had a rich notebook where I poured my years of fruitful knowledge and experience,' Khader sadly told me. 'Israel confiscated it.'

Every three or four months, Israeli occupation forces invade the cells to confiscate or damage what Palestinian detainees create. Thus, many cannot save their work unless they succeed in passing it to their lawyers and family when visiting, or to a soon-released detainee.

... 'I think I produced more than 100 pieces [while detained]' Uncle Khader said with pride.

Amazed and excited, I asked Khader to show me more handmade art. Suddenly, the conversation changed. His voice faded, his smile disappeared, and his eyes shrunk a little. The wrinkles of age and sorrow were clearly painted on his face.

'Israeli bulldozers entirely demolished our old home in 2004. You were only three years and don't remember. There, under the rubble, I lost all my photos, memories, and handicrafts —the ones I made and the ones my detained friends gifted me after release.'

Israel chases Palestinian crafts inside and outside prison. They fear our art. They fear our memories."

i’ve done this poll before but it would be fun to see any dif game responses since then :>

my discussion got a bit long so my top 3 are pikuniku, sims medieval and life is strange

i still haven’t given up hope that there will be a life is strange dapg playthrough. ok alright i did have a poll draft recently where i accepted it probably isn’t ever going to happen but i really want it to. i’m sure there’s a dapg vid from 2015 where dan says it’s the most requested game they play i just can’t find the video at all

i don’t know if it ‘fits’ their gaming style idk i guess with it takes two i thought they might branch into more long games but it takes two has sadly,,,, disappeared,,, into the dapg void but yk that could be specific to the game

and i know some people think life is strange is definitely of a Time and i agree like the writing is cringe at times but i have such a nostalgic connection to it that i don’t even care like the cringe does not register for me even writing this i’m like ,,, i need to play right now also as interactive christmas adventure Creators they would LOVE a pick your choice/ending game even though lets be real it does not matter in life is strange like the choices do Not do much and yes i will always choose chloe dying bc i love a sad ending. also i genuinely think the soundtrack has such a huge nostalgia factor like some of the songs on there i CANNOT listen to without wanting to replay the game obstacles. kids will be skeletons.

i would also still love them to play pikuniku i love this game so much

the whole plot is saving these cute blobby villager characters from an evil capitalist robot stealing their crops and trees. it’s literally just such a dapg game and it has all these fun minigames like the dance battle with the robot, the baskick championship thing, drawing the scarecrow face, reuniting the baby birds with the angry giant mum bird, breaking all the pottery at that one villager’s house. THE FIGHT WITH THE EVIL TOASTER. it’s also really cheap. the only thing i hate is the keyboard controls are weird and there’s no setting to change them so i’d recommend playing on switch if you have one but like if you can get used to awkward controls then it’s literally no issue at all. also it’s on sale rn it’s only £2.19 on steam. BARGAINNN also the soundtrack is amazing and the art style is just really cute. and there’s a co op mode which i haven’t played bc idk anyone who has the game 🥲🥲 but like @amazingphil @danielhowell pls consider amazing game amazing dapg content i love this game so much

also would still love a sims medieval spinoff even if it’s not a long series it’s so much fun. i can kinda see if dnp only want to stick with sims 4 as it’s a big series for the channel but sims medieval is just rly great

honourable mention to them trying to play minecraft again and doki doki i think would be fun for spooky week but idk if they would it’s a LOT of reading

I've been flipping back in forth between my fics, while also finishing up my most recent playthrough of my fighter Tav x Gale romance save. And I couldn't help but want to make more of an angsty/hurt version of the conversation you have with him when you convince Gale to not blow himself the eff up in Moonrise Towers.

For the purposes of this tiny little ficlit, Tav/Reader is a melee tank (fighter, paladin, etc.) Folk Hero who has been through the ringer, lost many people and is just very... very tired. And has been waiting to get their own happy ending for so long that they thought it would never happen.

Anyways, I have enough on my plate with my two fics so I'm not committing to anything but I really enjoyed fleshing out this little headcannon dream I had while playing my newest playthrough. And I think Gale deserves all the love too! Thank you for reading, and if you liked it let a girl know!

"This is it. I must do as Mystra commands." Gale took a steadying breath, his brown eyes looking anywhere but you. He had them focused ahead, on the monstrosity that was the so-called Absolute.

His leather boot took one step forward, but his movement halted as you stepped in front of him. Your heart was aching, a real physical pain cracking through it. "Gale, you cannot do this. Please, don't do this." You begged, your armored hand wrapped around his bound forearm.

You watched his throat bob as he swallowed thickly, "What choice do I have? More than just a goddess counts on my courage: whole worlds hang in the balance." His dark eyes looked at you sadly, anguish etching the features of his face as his wrist turned so he could hold back onto you. His fingers trembling like it would be his last touch.

Your lips quivered as you stepped closer to him. Even in this dank, evil abyss under the Tower you breathed in his familiar, warm scent. "I have spent my entire life fighting and bleeding. All I have known is death. I have stared it down on my knees, shattered and broken - even if it never came to take me, it took everyone else. And I was… so tired, so ready to give up." Tears were welling in your eyes, emotion crawling up your throat until your words choked out of you. "But then I met you. And all of it, every screaming muscle as I swung my blade, every aching bone as I took another hit, every drop of blood, every scream and tear shed... all of it was worth it. Because it led to you."

Tears were streaming down both of your cheeks now, leaving lines of clean skin as it cut through the dust and dirt and blood that stained your face. "Please, Gale - my love. Don't do this. We have time. We can have time." You grabbed either side of his face, his brown eyes softening as you tipped your forehead onto his. Your voice was a whisper, "I choose you, Gale. Not the wizard, not the sacrifice or Goddess' pawn. The man I love. Choose me back. The one who loves you. We can find another way together. I love you."

"I love you too. Much more than myself. More even than Mystra. Whether I condemn this world or not: I choose you." He nodded, his forehead still pressed tightly to yours as he pressed his lips softly to yours.

It was not the time nor place for such gentle acts of love. Not with an abomination around the corner, not with an undying man waiting to unleash his evil machinations on the world so close by. But you could not help yourself, not when it came to Gale. You pressed your lips harder to his for just a moment longer, memorizing the feeling and taste of him before you pulled away.

The pair of you nodded at each other breathlessly, eyes shifting with determination.

You would draw your sword and hold up your shield again. You would fight another day. Fight for another lifetime. You would stare down and ward off death once again. If only for him. Only for him.

"Oruburu, butterflies worst nightmare"

(For those wondering, this lil man isn't Usopp but it's a sanuso fanchild I decided to do a while ago after I had seen a post about how beautiful a Sanuso fankid would be and wanting to try myself at it 👀 it's my 2nd art of him, my 1st being his ref 😌)

I've put some anecdotes about him+bits of his story after the cut so that ppl that might be interested by him can check out 🥹👉👈

Anecdotes:

his name is Oruburu which is just the literal translation of "all blue"

even though one of his dads is one of the best cook ever, he's pretty bad at cooking himself (it never stopped him from learning about it with Sanji at his side though)

Usopp often teaches him to draw and be creative in general which helps Oruburu express his feelings a bit better!

He's extremely fond of bugs, owls and plants!

He often tries his hardest to succeed at everything he does and easily gives up when he's unable to perfect something on the first try

Oruburu is really sensitive to everything and often shuts down when he's overwhelmed with thoughts and feelings

He also happens to have a strong sense of justice

He's quite the loner but not because he's bullied of anything, only due to him not feeling able to connect/relate to anyone else

He's really clumsy and cannot walk straight to save himself

He could talk about owls for hours and not get tired (but his mother sure is tired after having to hear the process of an owl regurgitating a pellet at each dinner they're having)

Oruburu is extremely hyperactive and often doesn't know what to do with his two hands other than draw and spread chaos around the bugs kingdom with them

He has his own den den mushi that's only contacted by the mugiwaras just to let him know that they're almost at port and to come greet them there!

His favorite mugiwara are Franky, Brook and Jinbei (Jinbei is only his favorite for hugs though-)

Backstory:

It all started with Usopp and Sanji wanting a child of their own;

The more time passed the worse their baby fever was becoming and so they decided that they'd just go for a child;

They already had ideas on how to go at it and just decided that Sanji would seek an agreeing surrogate mother that resembled Usopp so that the kid could look like the both of them even tho he would only be blood related to Sanji;

After finding an agreeing woman named "Zeeha" that fitted the profile perfectly, "Oruburu Vinsmoke" was born.

Oruburu grew up living inside of his native village with only his surrogate mother as sadly Usopp and Sanji had decided that the pirate's life was still way too dangerous for him to embark in;

To make up for it, whenever they could the mugiwaras would visit Zeeha and Oruburu to spend a whole day/week with them before going back on another adventure;

Because of it, while growing up Oruburu would often get mad about his dads "abandoning him";

He'd throw tantrums and would scream at the top of his small lungs for his dads to stay as they both felt horrible but had no other choice but to leave him for another day, month or even maybe year.

(Usopp often feels tons of remorse about it as he knows how it feels to know your dad is out here but that you just can't see him)

Because of his fear of abandonment, Oruburu was staring to grow bitter and mean at both his parents, to the point where he one day had a meltdown during a dinner and screamed at them that when he'd grow up he'd join the marines just so that at least he could see his dads more often since he'd spend his time chasing them.

That day chaos erupted around the dinner table as all the mugiwaras started to choke on their own food out of surprise and Sanji proceeded to lightly kick some sense back into his son.

That burst of hatred wasn't normal with Oruburu as he usually was really kind, so it came as a surprise to them to hear him say such a thing but they also couldn't ignore the fact that the boy probably felt abandoned and scared without his parents;

And both Usopp and Sanji felt horrible about it.

Oruburu had taken a duty of providing everything to his mother at such a young age just because he didn't wanted his own mom to be alone like him and that duty had started to weight heavily onto his small heart and shoulders.

After Oruburu fled the dinner table that night Luffy came to see him, the boy was angry and sad but he confessed that he often had a reoccurring nightmare of seeing the mugiwaras go back on their ship and die during an adventure but that in the nightmare he'd know nothing about it and would keep on hopelessly waiting for them to come back until the end of time.

Luffy reassured him in his "Luffy way"..

Saying that if they were about to die/be executed, Oruburu would hear about it everywhere, hell! It probably would even be broadcasted around the world!

That just made Oruburu cry.. So Luffy decided to make a promise to the boy as to give him some hope back (and mainly for him not to join the marines) Luffy's promise was that if Oruburu were to ever beat him in a fight he'd be free to join his crew, alongside his parents!

The boy instantly lit up and agreed, promising that he'd grow strong and would one day defeat Luffy!

This promise started a long tradition casually named "Oruburu getting his butt kicked o'clock";

Where each time the crew came back to visit Oruburu, this one would rush in a straight line to fight Luffy, both of them with a bright smile on their faces while getting ready to knock out one another;

But also the Luffy mainly being happy as he knew he had managed to give some hope back to what was once a scared boy.

I do like other games fun fact!!! Darkstalkers is probs one of my favorite fighting games. One of the few I’m ok at lol (TwT ;). But yeah, I play as Lord Raptor and he’s a silly guy fr.

This is the whole Zabel page :3. I like to think Lord Raptor is like a stage name and Zabel Zarock is his actual name. It makes sense in the context that he’s a metal artist I guess. Also what is up with his birth year being listed as like 1889 everywhere? That does not make any sense in the context that he’s a metal artist 💀💀💀💀💀💀.

The next two are based on some of his early concept designs. Changed to look more like say alternate costumes for him cause some of these are wildly different not just outfit wise from the design that we got.

This one is by far my favorite, it’s him in that Midnight Bliss outfit lol. It looks nice on him. I actually have the midnight bliss figure of him :D (sadly one of his only pieces of merch dies in all of the characters I like have little to no merch)!!! I don’t see much fan art of his human-ish form, but then again I don’t see much fan art of him at all now that I think about it—

There’s some text in this zoom in spot! The top left one says “I’m fucking balling!”, the one below it says “Oi, wtf”, and his shirt says oh uh well um I shan’t say it (Cannibal Corpse song title 💀). There’s also one doodle on here that requires context cause it seems edgy for no reason, but it is based on an official art of him!!!!!! Aaaa I wish you could put more than 10 photos so I could show it.

This was an attempt at drawing a sprite of his but oh my god I cannot draw people looking up to save my life 💀💀💀. There’s some Le Malta doodles tho, he’s cool. Just a little dude! I like how Le Malta was technically employed by Ozom to spy on Zabel to make sure he wasn’t plotting against him (he very much was lmao) and he just totally was like “yeah I hate Ozom’s ass too” and decided to be friends with him instead. The Darkstalkers lore is great and hilarious I promise—

These two are just shitposts (the big dude in the background of the second one is Ozom btw Aka the guy that reanimated him). And the last two are just from playing around with one of those insert character/series text box generator websites.

Yeah anyway, great game, I should probably draw more about it, but the Simon and also that RPG Maker project I was working on have both taken over my life d(*´ω`*). (Also stress but yeah—)

why I prefer Darius as Hunter's primary guardian (an unhinged rant)

(This post is riddled with disclaimers because the fandom has no chill about this subject lol)

So first of all I want to say, IRL at this point it would be Hunter's decision who he wants to live with. So I'm looking at this from a narrative perspective about what would be most satisfying to me as a viewer.

For the record, I think Darius, Camila, Eda, Raine, etc. can and should all be involved in Hunter's life in some form or another going forward. Hunter needs a strong support network and deserves all the caring parental figures he can get. But I also think that he needs stability. Even if he spends a lot of time at other houses, I think Hunter would do best with a place he can start to think of as his home, instead of cycling through a rotation of 'his room at Camila's house', 'his room at Darius' house', and so on.

Now. I know there were plans for Hunter to stay at the Owl House at some point in season 2, but since that didn't happen in canon, Hunter doesn't have any real foundation for moving in with Eda now. And we sadly never really get to see him interact with Raine. So that leaves us with 2 realistic candidates: Darius and Camila.

And just to head this off, yes Camila is a wonderful person. She would be a great parent for any child, including Hunter. I'm not saying that she wouldn't be, and I'm not saying that Darius is in a better parent. Just hear me out.

1. Practical considerations

I know no one wants to hear it, but Camila has been single-parenting 6 kids for 2-3 months. I cannot believe she had no worse breakdown than a (very well-done) nightmare sequence. If Hunter does move in with her post-canon, then that makes her the primary caregiver of 3 severely traumatized teenagers. Again, I'm sure she would do an excellent job as always. But that's still a lot of stress.

Second. Hunter states his desires at the end of Thanks to Them. They are to: study wild magic; learn how to carve palismen; attend Hexside as a regular student; and play flyer derby with his friends. All of these goals would have him spending a lot of time in the demon realm.

One argument I've seen is that Hunter was the happiest we've seen him yet in the human realm, which is true. But I think a lot of that was because he was with his friends in a relatively safe environment. He should be able to get that in the demon realm post-canon, especially since most of his friends will be staying there and he plans to spend so much of his time there. And for feeling safe, he's now been successfully traumatized in both realms so. yay /s

So those are my practical justifications for why it makes more sense for Hunter to stay with Darius over Camila. But I also have reasons based on what we get to see of their relationships in canon.

2. Canon clues that I'm not just reaching

A lot of people seem to be taking it as a given that Hunter will or should end up with Camila based on canon. For the reasons given above, I don't think there's more canon basis for Camila parenting Hunter over Darius.

I also think it's worth noting that Hunter seems rather attached to Darius. During the draining spell, Willow and Amity try to help Eda while Hunter runs straight to Darius to try to wake him up.

In the human realm, Willow, Gus, and Amity draw pictures of their families. IIRC Gus is the only one who verbally mentions his dad. Luz doesn't talk about Eda and King or hang up any pictures, but she does draw them. Hunter doesn't draw anyone, but he verbally mentions one single person from the demon realm. And that person is Darius.

2. Camila's relationship with Hunter in canon

I hate how little we know about it. I know, I know, the Shortening. But it does affect how I view their relationship. In all of the interactions we see, from the learning Spanish to the sewing machine to saving him from drowning, it could have been any of the kids. There's nothing about the way Camila interacts with Hunter to differentiate their relationship from her relationship with Willow, Gus, or Amity.

What I was really hoping to see at some point was any clue about what Camila knows about Hunter's background. Like I’m assuming she at least knows that he was raised by Belos. But the way it came up and who told her what about it is entirely unknown. Does she know he was abused? To what extent? Does she know about his role as the Golden Guard? Does she know how he met Luz, when he threatened to throw her into the boiling sea? Like I know, I get that she would have been as compassionate as always. But if I'm filling the gaps for how these conversations played out, I at least want more evidence that they happened at all.

Because it isn't a given. Again, Camila is working a full-time job and taking care of 6 teenagers, 5 of whom have to live in hiding to some extent and are struggling to adjust and have unique needs because they aren't human. That is so much stress and responsibility on Camila. So the montage and photo album we saw were mostly the kids bonding with each other. We didn't get to see Camila interact one-on-one with anyone but Luz. Which again, yes, the Shortening. But also maybe Camila just didn't have as much time to spend bonding with each individual child as everyone would have liked. It is a very real possibility that a lot of topics relating to Hunter and his childhood simply haven't come up yet.

Also, we know that Camila still has a shaky grasp on the Boiling Isles by the end of TTT. It is totally understandable because she's never been there and has never seen it; the kids are having the same issue adjusting to the human realm. Hunter didn't seem overly eager to talk about his past. Luz didn't seem overly eager to talk about the Boiling Isles in general. I think most of Camila's understanding comes from what Vee told her prior to and during TTT, and what Willow, Gus, and Amity told her while they were there.

So that leaves a lot of room for interpretation about what Camila's understanding of Hunter's situation is, which in turn makes it hard to imagine how any specific interaction or conversation might play out. Like yes, Camila would of course be loving and supportive, and she would say all the right things and model all the correct behaviors, and that's great. But without any canon basis for how Camila uniquely views and interacts with Hunter, it all ends up feeling more like wish-fulfillment to me than a relationship between 2 characters who know each other in canon.

For example, Camila doesn’t seem to be expecting Hunter to stay with her long-term. Because after months in the human realm Hunter is still sleeping on the floor of the basement. But there are so many possible explanations for this, because we don't know anything. Maybe Camila doesn’t know yet that Hunter is functionally homeless. Maybe she does know, and they had a really fulfilling heart-to-heart about it off screen. Maybe Hunter really is already planning to stay in the human realm. Or maybe Camila is under the impression that Hunter already has a place to stay in the demon realm.

Which is its own thing. I am being a bit of a hypocrite. For all we know, Hunter did talk to Darius about this before the Day of Unity and already has plans to move in with him. There are plenty of gaps to go around! So I will move on to:

3. Darius' relationship with Hunter in canon

I will admit it, I'm biased. This relationship is so much more interesting to me, just from the set up.

Because Darius is the only adult we see actually try to help Hunter while Hunter is still living in his abusive situation.

I know there's been discussion and debate about Darius' behavior, so I'll try to keep it brief. Darius did not help Hunter for a long time. He also didn't have any particular responsibility towards Hunter. Darius failed Hunter as much as every other adult Hunter interacted with over the years.

It is unclear based on canon how often Darius and Hunter interacted or what those interactions were generally like. It is unclear what Darius knew or suspected about Hunter's situation prior to Any Sport in a Storm. I think a lot of fandom disagreement comes down to how generously or harshly you interpret Darius when filling in these blanks. So I'll focus on what we do know.

Darius gave Hunter a mission in ASIAS. He didn't mean to; he was just trying to get rid of Hunter. He seems to view Hunter as a lost cause for most of the episode. Because of that and/or the traitor thing, Darius makes no effort to explain what he thinks Hunter is doing wrong. Which is unfortunate, because he is pushing Hunter in the right direction.

Darius encourages Hunter to think for himself at a time when Hunter is still loyal and Belos is still actively working to keep Hunter unquestioningly obedient. And this is before Darius has even taken any real interest in Hunter. He goes about it horribly, but he is already taking the right stance on these fundamental issues, and that matters to me.

Then at the end of the episode, Darius' attitude towards Hunter changes completely. And yes, I know it shouldn't have happened this way. I know Hunter shouldn't have needed to prove himself to earn help and attention. But this show is full of flawed characters who change for the better. So why not Darius?

And Darius shows that he is capable of change. He admits to Hunter "I had you all wrong". He praises Hunter for both making friends and for disobeying him, which is huge for Hunter while he's still in his abusive situation. And then Darius' first action after his revelation is to give Hunter a scroll and encourage Hunter to make connections outside of the castle.

And again, Darius didn't have to do that. He could have just as easily ended the interaction there. He could have agreed to keep Flapjack a secret in return for Hunter keeping his mouth shut about letting the 'recruits' go, and then gone back home to get his beauty sleep.

But he didn't. He gave Hunter a scroll and encouraged him to break out of his isolation more. Then he gave Hunter back his cloak and fixed the cloak and gave Hunter the approval that Hunter spent all episode desperately wanted since the beginning (which is problematic, I know). And then Darius told Hunter to get a sewing lesson, which he very well may have given actually him based on Hunter comparing his stitches to Darius' in TTT.

So did Darius handle everything perfectly? Of course not. But he did consistently push Hunter in the right direction, and by the end of it he does seem actively interested and willing to help. He becomes the first (and tbh only) adult we actually get to see start paying attention to Hunter's situation and intervening with Hunter's best interests at heart.

...And then we don't get to see them interact after that. It's another place where the fandom diverges, particularly regarding whether or not one or more sewing lessons ended up happening.

But we do get some crumbs.

During Hollow Mind, Darius is alarmed when he realizes Hunter got trapped in Belos' mind.

Then in Clouds on the Horizon, Hunter reveals that Darius sent him to escort Luz. I think this scene is overlooked a lot, but it's huge to me. Because it means that Darius and Hunter got in contact some time after Hollow Mind, presumably after Labyrinth Runners.

Like Hunter must have had some pretty severe trust issues after learning that Belos is an evil sadist who manipulated him his whole life. It would've been compounded by Coven Head Adrian showing up at Hexside lying about being a rebel. So even though we didn't get to actually see it, we know something must have happened between Darius and Hunter that somehow got Hunter to trust Darius enough to go on a mission for him on the Day of Unity. And I'm assuming that required Darius to make at least some effort to confront head-on the reality of Hunter's situation and Darius' role as a rebel and all the messy complicated emotions that go along with all of it.

And again, he didn't have to. Darius didn't have to get in contact with Hunter after Hollow Mind. That is a choice that he both made and successfully pulled off. Like I see this hc a lot that Darius can't handle emotional situations, but he was there for Hunter at least to some extent both while Hunter was unknowingly in an abusive situation and while Hunter was coping with the fallout of having everything ripped out from under him. So I don't get why it's so hard to imagine Darius being there for Hunter in emotionally difficult situations post-canon.

Anyway. This scene also tells us that Darius went and gave Hunter the same mission that Eda gave Luz, presumably for the same reason: to let the kids feel useful while also trying to keep them relatively safe and out of the line of fire on the Day of Unity. (And that's it's own thing. There are plenty of parallels you could draw between Darius' relationship with Hunter and Luz' relationship with Eda, particularly in the early stages where things were a bit rocky.)

So. This turned into a little bit of a tangent of why I don't get how it's so inconceivable to some people that Darius is truly capable of genuinely caring about Hunter and/or being able to grow into a parental figure that can do right by Hunter. Because we have canon evidence for all of these things.

2. Canon clues that I'm not just reaching

I also think it's worth noting that Hunter seems rather attached to Darius. During the draining spell, Willow and Amity try to help Eda while Hunter runs straight to Darius to try to wake him up.

Hi everyone

A bit of a long-ish post today because I wanted to talk about my selfship/AU of the 2000 italian kid cartoon called «Monster Mash» (I already shared the sketch earlier on this blog but I finally finished it)

So it was one of my favorite childhood movie for years, and around halloween I got back to it, being focused on the movie for a few weeks (I still love it and watch it sometimes now). And it kinda revived my affection for one of the character (Drac), who was a huge crush of mine when I was a kid.

I created a quick self-insert for the original universe, but my mind quickly got interested in a few AUs. While I didn't do any art for the main universe or for my second AU, I was more invested into my Vampire Hunter storyline, which I'm about to tell you about in this post. If you just want the drawing it's okay, thanks for the attention

So the context of this AU is the following:

There was always tension between monsters and humans, and one day a battle finally exploded, lasting for years. The monsters have been significantly numbered down by the humans, but they are still fighting. They're just staying hidden for the moment, plotting to get their revenge and imprisoned members free.

My character is named Swan (they/he). They're a monster hunter, recruted by the King (at least that's the version Swann is allowed to tell) to kill the last vampires in the kingdom. Amongst these vampires, their King, Drac, is the main target. Why vampires in particular? Well, strangely nobody really knows.

Swann is sent to track them down, which he does, and makes a first attempt to fight Drac. It failed, since the king of vampires was aware of a potential personal attack from the human king. But Swann doesn't give up. They're trying to get the closest possible to Drac, without his guards around. Once they manage to meet alone, Swann makes a suggestion to Drac: they cannot leave the vampires free here, but they can pretend to win the mission by helping them escape the kingdom and keeping the secret. Drac was surprised, but refused. He and the other monsters will stay and fight back. Swann tries to convince him, making it clear that they don't want to participate more in the massacre. Sadly, with the uncooperation of the vampire king, they have no other choice but keep fighting until one of them wins. However, this encounter changed something, making Drac more curious about this strange decision from someone sent to kill them, and already killed multiple monsters. They kept fighting, but it was less with the actual intention to end lives and more with a desperate attempt to make them go away. The big turn was when Swann saved Drac's life, from a guard of the human king trying to get recognition as a hero. Before the crucifix could hit his chest, Swann swooped in and attacked the guard. By seeing them, the guard was menacing to warn the king about the betrayal, but he was quickly shut down by the duo and sent to the other vampires.

Drac kept the incident secret from the other vampires, at Swann's demand. But this night, they actually became friends. And, this friendship evolved, hiding behind the fights, hiding from both humans and vampires, even from other monsters. Developping a secret romance, never claimed by words, but affirmated by the nights they starting spending intimately (ah yeah s3x plays a huge part in their love story).

And there you have it, a very quick explaination of what this Vampire Hunter story is. Hope it wasn't too badly written, because I know my writing sucks (that's why I never write fanfictions).

Anyway, if you read everything, I'm really happy that you took the time for it, and if you didn't, that's fine it's still nice that you stopped by even if it was just for the art.

There is a lot of "me" in Tessa, tbh. But there is also a lot of my own mother because I wanted her to be very motherly and kind and selfless and my mom is all of those things to a T.

She's just very polite despite her shyness and is very giving of herself lol maybe a little too much.

Oh, absolutely! We're both pretty introverted and shy by nature, so it might take us a minute to talk to one another if we were in school together or something. But we're quite similar and would get along well I think.

Video Essays, Jealousy, Melancholy and Lies

Have you ever found yourself living a lie?

This question has been stuck in my head ever since I started therapy earlier this year. And I don't mean it in some grand way of being a kind of double agent or stringing an elaborate web of lies to trick your childhood friend into playing sudoku to save your past self from burning down in an incinerator, but... Something much more mundane.

I guess I should start from the beginning, cause otherwise the title of this post won't make too much sense.

It is interesting how much we can experience through communication. Be it a Discord message, a Tumblr blog post like this, a tweet or a meticulously put together video essay, finding out about other people's experiences has been one of my favorite things throughout my life. I find people endlessly fascinating. I love it when people talk about their lives and their life experiences, so to me, the long winded, sort of pretentious format of the video essay is right up my alley.

So, this morning, while enjoying a bowl of instant-ramen with some haphazardly cut green onions and a creamy eggy broth, I was watching this one video essay that one of my good friends had recommended to me the night before. Said video essay was about the appeal of Elfen Leid and the video itself, I found quite entertaining and very interesting. But, it did leave me feeling a tinge melancholic and I realized that this is far from the only video essay that has had that sort of effect on me.

Growing up in Ukraine, a land ravaged by the collapse of the Soviet Union and the rise of uncontrolled capitalism, where you could easily find syringes behind a children's playground and your average neighborhood screamed "Half-Life 2 Level", I was a pretty quiet kid, despite my extremely extroverted nature. I do think a lot of these issues start here, which is why I wanted to mention this. I was bullied from a pretty young age, disregarded by people I found important to me and disregarded by people I called friends. To me, it was always a feeling of being not "cool enough". I wasn't into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I wasn't into Transformers, being "girly" for a "boy" such as myself was seen as disgusting, was met with slurs and even more bullying. And in this environment, I was just a quiet kid, with a big heart, who'd sit at the back of the class and draw his funny Sonic the Hedgehog comics.

All of this is to say that I grew up in a pretty cynical place, where cringe culture was way more commonplace and I could only find respite in the internet, mainly the russian Sonic forums of the era, where plenty of judgemental people remained still. That cynicism has really seeped through me and followed me through so much of my life. There were so many times when I would do something that felt natural to me, that didn’t hurt anyone and I would be shut down even by people I trusted the most and I would once again retreat into my own shell.

This constant environment led me to not really participate in many subcultures actively in fear of being seen as weird and cringy, this constant environment led me to not stand out to much, to not take opportunities that would’ve led me to a more interesting life and left me with barely any skills to express myself, besides music or art. It made me afraid of my own queerness that I had to come to terms with and understand for many many years, dealing with my own toxic masculinity, finding out that I was not really straight or that I am not even truly a “man”.

And now looking back, when I am more mature and have changed and grown so much, that I finally managed to open myself up somewhat and “be cringe and free”, honestly, there is a strong melancholy there. There’s a regret. I wish I’ve done so much over my teens that I sadly cannot turn back anymore. To please those people that were holding me back, I gave up so much. That I am having my self indulgent phase when I am in my early 20s and not my early 10s. And I am still a work in progress, I have no idea if I am still living some sort of lie, cause that is stuff you admit to yourself down the road and figure out with hindsight. But I am happier today. But, for how sad this all may sound, I wanted to tell you, the reader, that it is never really too late to change and open up a bit.

It is however interesting, that even with all of this said and this regret that I do bear, I consider that my experience was still rather valuable. I met many people, I developed in my own way and now I love who I am. Maybe that regret, a desire for a better teenage life is yet just another lie, me trying to conform. A new adventurer has joined us !

Very long under the cut

Yilcer, call her "Cer" (pronounced "Sir") has joined the group.

Here's a bit more about her.

She is an eldarin druid and last of her clan and druid grove. She is "stuck" in her summer form, and has taken the path of the Circle of Wildfire, internalizing her traumatic past.

She was adopted by an elven-looking man with solid green eyes and long, black hair, a powerful magic user and hermit she simply calls Archdruid Helvega. He raised her, somewhat, as his own, though he has been emotionally distant for the following hundred years.

He doesn't often answer her questions straight, and tends to avoid certain subjects, but Yilcer is ferociously attached to her Archdruid foster father, keeping a collection of notes he has left her in an obsidian scroll case.

As the blight of the land reached their grove, he sent her off to find a group of adventurers to the far east.

Asking him, he revealed to her he has been fighting this blight for centuries, long before she was even born, and had to sacrifice much in order to stave it off for this long.

He sent an escort for her, a jackal by the name of Amin. Amin escorted her with little dialogue, but enough understanding.

The main adventuring party, meanwhile, in the underground temple of the dragon god stare at a body - a corpse.

They recognize the corpse as one of the statues from the Godkiller temple, as well as a portrait from the Elk God temple. It looks as though he died only moments ago, but the blood round him is old and stained into the stone. They determined his body is under some kind of preservation spell.

They cast Speak With Dead from one of the scrolls they took from the shrine.

They asked, very carefully:

Who killed you

It wheezed, "husband"

They asked "who is your husband"

It said "Sigurd Helvega"

They asked three other questions I sadly cannot for the life of me remember, but unfortunately they were very...... stupid questions lmao.

And then. They decided...... To decapitate him. They took his head.

They took his head, preserved with magic, and went back to the treasure room. They took many treasures before taking the glowing red gem they need for the star puzzle in the Godkiller temple, and eveything began to crumble.

Barely escaping, they made their way to the country of Dauthas to the west, and the city of Paharipani, Tahir's home town.

In this town, they saw the massive, horizon-to-horizon Caravan Carnival, a "silk road" of sorts that follows the river that connects across the continent. People rfom all over gather to this place to trade and sell, people of every creed. There are no official rules, but it would be simply stupid for anyone to try their hand at theft.

Many mercenary groups also gather here, displaying their flags and colors.

One such are the Justicar Dogs, a group of only-jackals from all over, preferably Dauthas but they do not limit location, only species.

Tahir tells everyone these are the mercenaries that watch over his home town, and reveals he and his once-twin brother used to want to be part of them.

The group meets in a beautiful, luxurious hotel.

In it, they notice something is wrong with Tahir.

While they are not particularly accustomed to differentiating jackals, they notice a particular jackal he is staring at with a young woman looks exactly like him, save for heavy, golden armor like a Paladin.

The other jackal approaches, as does the girl.

Amin, in a garbled voice calls Tahir, "Brother."

Tahir replies, "You're not my brother."

Amin says nothing more, only handing Tahir a scroll - it is a pastel and charcoal drawing of Yilcer. Yilcer recognizes it as the handiworkof her master.

She asks Amin if these are the adventurers she's supposed to meet. Amin nods to her.

Amin gives Xehara a pair of scrolls as well, and a ring of keys.

He tells them their rooms are paid for, and leaves.

Yilcer introduces herself as they make their way into one of the rooms. They ask tahir who that Jackal was.

Amin and Tahir are twin brothers. They grew up together, wanting to be Justicar Dogs badly, but could never truly make their impression. Amin, in desparate attempt to gain recognition and protect his family, joined a strange cult. Tahir saw Amin less and less, days became weeks became months.

Amin invited Tahir to a graduation ceremony of sorts, but they had a fight. Tahir followed in secret, however, and saw his brother die - his wrists pierced and throat cut, and a new soul summoned to possess him.

Yilcer tells the group that her Archdruid sent her to help the adventurer's with the blight. They don't know who her Archdruid is, but accept her, for the time being.

They cast speak with dead on Razvra's head, as it has been two weeks since last time.

They find out very little, unfortunately. Next time, I'll push them to the right questions (such as..... "how did you die" which i am so surprised they didnt ask.... I have a whole document for it.... cries)

While they're arguing very, very carefully about their final question, Xehara asks the receptionist, a blond jackal with a white veil, holes for her ears to poke out and beautiful gold chains weighing it down, for a bathtub full of ice. She sends a pair of jackals into the room, of which they try very, very hard to ignore the talking head propped on the bed.

The door closes and everyone except Xehara snap into attack mode. Ivan chases down the pair of Jackals, another set of twins who work at the hotel together, and tells them they "didn't see anything" with a succesful intimidation check.

They nod very, very quickly, "Yes, Sir! This hotel is utmost discreet, no one ever sees anything here, sir!"

He lets them scurry off.

They decide to go shopping, leaving the head on the pillow, after Xehara refreshes in the bathtub.

They find a place called The Bone Shop. It is a pale white shop on the exterior and interior, almost alarmingly so when the rest of Paharipari is so colorful.

Inside, they note tons of bones hanging from hooks on the walls, lining the shelves, and a grey-green goblin sitting at the counter. He has a red mohawk and beady black eyes, a black leather vest, a pair of tiny bird skulls biting his ears as earrings, several bones of various sizes hanging off his neck. On one hand, he has the claw-tips of an animal on his index and middle fingers and thumb.

Ivan snarkily asks, "So uh. What do you sell here."

The goblin, in a scrunched face and a deep, gravely voice says, "Bones!" He taps the counter impatiently.

Tork finds a basilisk fang and asks how much it costs.

The shopkeep shakes his head and points at the sign.

"No, no. What's the shop called."

"Uh... Bone Shop?"

"YES. Now. I got boens. yeah, you see, I got bones. YOU got bones. I deal with bones. No money."

Tork nods, "OH. Yes. We have bones."

He and Tahir pull out bones they stole from the Godkiller's temple.

Zakir, the goblin, snifs the bones for a long time. He nods. "Mmhm. Old. Ancient bones." Sniffs them again. "Human. Human... An elf. Human. Four... No. Five hundred years old. Five hundred... Sixty years. Yeah." He scratches them with the claws on his fingers, "Old, unburied. Rained recently. Got it. Can't trade these bones for the pups, the pups like chewing. But theyre good. Good solid bones. Good for weapons, or clubs. Difficult to sell for jewelry, weird green color."

(crying I am so proud of my voice for zakir btw i wish yall could hear it)

Tork and Tahir trade their bones for basilisk fangs and Tahir for a few chewable ones, like the kind he got as a puppy.

After a quick perception check everyone realizes the entire shop is literally made of bones, from the shelves to the counter to the walls themselves.

Ivan asks sarcastically, "Oh, I'm sorry, what do you sel lhere again?"

Zakir looks at him like he's stupid.

"Who the fuck is this guy?" He asks Tork. "Look. Zakir has bones. You have bones. Pig bones, eladrin bones, dog bones, vampire bones." he gets to Xehara, who is a squid simic and technialy doesn't have bones (think of Kiff from Futurama). "No bones... BONES. Zakir. Deals with. Bones. Get the fuck outta here."

Tork and Tahir usher Ivan outside of the shop for being annoying. Tork apologizes.

Tork tells him, "We're friends, right? Tork is friend."

Zakir nods and says "Yeah. Okay. Zakir, Tork. Tork, Zakir. Friends now."

Tork inquires about the piece of horn they took from the Godkiller's temple. He tells Zakir it's the horn of a god.

"Tork wants to know if god-bone is any good. Maybe even sell - or trade for other bones."

Zakir thinks about it long and hard.

"Hm. If it's real, then it's high profile. Zakir doesn't like that. Zakir wants nice, simple bones, not something people wanna steal. If it's fake, then Zakir has no use for it."

Tork says that's fair.

I made a long list of really cool items I think theyd all like, but they cant have them all. They have a budget of 5000 gold, which while a lot, some of these items are pretty expensive. They've been pecking at what they want to buy ever since.

Tork finds an amulet of Speak with Animals. He tries it on but can't figure out how to cast it. Yilcer helps him, and he turns to Hank with big, sad brown eyes.

"Hank? Can you hear me?"

Hank, the Haoma (made up creature but its basically a pig-tapir), gleams brightly and hops, "Tork! Tork! Hank knows Tork!"

(Please know I am using a baby-voice for Hank)

Karl, the player who plays Tork, nearly starts crying on the spot, it was genuinely so sweet.

"Hank!!! Hank... What does Hank want? Does Hank want armor? Weapons?"

"Hank want... appuh (apple)."

Karl in almost tears, Tork actually in tears, says "OK!! if I don't find applesin this bazaar I'm burning everything to the ground"

The shopkeep, who is basically a cowboy tiefling plucking a guitar, is so off-put by all the weeping that he just gives Tork the amulet to get him tf away from him lmao.

Tork spends a lot of money feeding hank Apples while carrying him like a baby.

Eventually, the group converges and they start questioning Yilcer about her Archdruid and whether he can be trusted.

Important note, Candi (Yilcer's player) and I discussed that Yilcer and Helvega's relationship is something similar to Asuka and Kaji from Evangelion, if that helps. Except she's an adult, but that probably makes it Worse.

Anyway, she says "Archdruid Helvega raised me since I was little."

They blanch. "Helvega? As in... SIGURD Helvega?"

Yilcer realizes she never, not in a hundred years, knew his first name. It dawned on her. She doesn't know. But she refused to believe that the groups supposed enemy, Sigurd, was the same Helvega as her Archdruid.

They get back to the hotel and they argue for a good two hours. Ivan believes Sigurd is the Godkiller who created and caused the blight. Tork doesn't think so, but does think Sigurd is connected to the blight.

She didn't believe they were the same Helvega at all. Yilcer was about to put away the portrait of herself that the Archdruid made when all her letters spilled out of the container. Xehara and Tork recognized the handwriting and signature - it definitely matched Sigurd's letters that they had since session 1.

Yilcer is starting to light up in flames, which Ivan ad to roll a wisdom save to avoid being afraid due to his very Recent trauma with fire. She yells at them, telling hem that he would never have caused something like that, he's a GOOD MAN, he would NEVER hurt anyone, not even her, he lost so much trying to save the world from the blight!

In that time, Xehara finally opens and reads the two scrolls he was given by Amin.

They are a pair of portraits of seemingly the same man. One is heroic, freshly shaven, short, messy brown hair, and a crest of a castle with wings. he recognizes this as his assassination target, the one that led him to this adventure. This target is said to have been stealing noble money, and spending it egregiously wherever he goes.

The second portrait is apparently the same man, but with a thicker beard, wily hair, sunken cheeks and eyes. A crest of a snake with two heads on both ends of its body in a knot appear at the bottom.

Xehara recognizes the castle seal as the noble crest of Stillas, a city-state ruled by a king. The second crest eludes him, however. In his research on the subject, he found that the person that hired him was a middle man of a middle man, and the paper trail eventually went cold in his findings. he doesn't know who wants this man dead,or why. Least of all, why did Yilcer's companion have it?

One of the items they bought in town was labeled as coming from the country of Sigartha, which is where the Godkiller temple was found (and namely, with the statues of Sigurd, Razvra, the Moon Goddess, and one mysterious archer woman). It is an ancient coin, like the ones they've been collecting in association to Sigurd, with a horse's skull stamped to it.

Many mysteries are unearthing as they compare notes.....

They'll resume shopping tomorrow and decide if they want to pursue Xehara's mysterious contract, follow a lead on their main quest in the country of Sigartha (that they realized sounds a lot like "Sigurd" and is the country where the temple with Sigurd's statue was found), or to the country of Osanisk, where the next gemstone for the Godkiller star puzzle could be located.

(I apologize for the errors, I use Google Translator to write this post) Hello, not so long ago I found out about your game "Darling Duality" and, having passed it the other day, fell in love with it! You draw amazing, and I almost really fell in love with Castor (you picked up an amazing voice for him, it's nice to listen to him). The way the atmosphere is conveyed deserves separate words. First, the calmness of the day / evening for the passage of the game, then a sweet and slightly anxious feeling during the first sleep with Castor, then embarrassment and panic fright in the cube with a slight madness (when we cut our palm) and at the very end a light comedy made me not get bored and experience emotions throughout the passage of the demo game! You write amazing music that conveys the atmosphere well! Please forgive me if my message seems strange or stupid to you, but in addition to thanking you for playing, I would like to ask a couple of questions (of course, if you don't mind):

Is it possible to ask questions about the character? I would like to learn as much as possible about Castor/Castoria, but if you can't, then I'll understand everything.

How is the development of the game progressing and when, perhaps, will we be able to see the sequel? (please forgive me if my question sounded rude. In no way am I going to be rude to you, rush you or put pressure on you)

Hey hey! Thanks so much for all your kind words :3 I'm really glad you've enjoyed what there is of DD so far! I just wanted to let you know that I do plan to answer your questions and write you a proper reply, I just don't have time to do it at the moment because I'm really busy trying to get my project for this year's Yandere Jam done in time (the jam ends this coming Tuesday x3) I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you or anything, so thought I'd let you know that I will answer when I can, it just might be a little while :3 Hope you have a good weekend! EDIT (to add my full answer :3)

Okay, so, hopefully I'm doing this right and you'll be able to see what I'm typing cos I don't really know how Tumblr works all that well x3

Firstly, I should probably say that, while I wish with all my heart that I could draw, I sadly cannot draw to save my life T_T haha. The art in all my games is either the result of me teaming up with amazing artists who can draw beautifully, or, me taking to GIMP and spending hours editing assets that I own to at least try and make them look somewhat unique to my projects rather than using them as they come :3

Darling Duality is the result of the second option, haha. I think it took me around 3 days to edit Castor/ia's sprites because I heavily edited colours, but I also added additional facial expressions that didn't come with the asset pack by layering parts of the face individualy, haha.

I'm glad you ended up liking Castor though ^-^ And I agree, his voice actor is incredible and the character wouldn't be the same without him!

I can also only take credit for certain music tracks within the game x3 The soundtrack is currently only partially original, and the rest of the tracks are ones I chose from various asset packs that felt like they fit well. I really enjoy making music though, so I've been trying to include more and more original tracks in my more recent projects :3

Your message doesn't seem strange or stupid at all though! I think it's extremely sweet :3 And it means a lot to me that you liked the game enough to even want to write something about it ^-^

I don't mind answering questions at all, so you're welcome to ask whatever you like :3 There might be some things that I can't say if they might contain spoilers for the story that is still to come, but I'll do my best to answer what I can.

To answer your second question, in all honesty, development is going very slowly >.< I got quite demotivated to work on the project when I found out that I might not be able to get the same voice actors back to keep playing the characters. So I ended up putting the project on hold and just working on game jams for quite a while.

The voice acting situation is still up in the air, but I am at least slowly working on the project again :3 I have a lot of writing finished that currently isn't coded into the game yet. In the next update, I'm hoping to continue a little more of Castor/ia's story, along with adding a new character to the mix as well whose route you will be able to begin.

It's a very long-term project though because I hope to add quite a few different characters over time. Because of that, my plan was to update sort of episodically, so that it doesn't take forever to release new content. Because the fully completed game will likely take me years to make >.<

As for the next update though, I can't really put a proper time on when I might be able to get it released, but I'm really hoping that it will at least be sometime later this year :3 It's just hard to say because you never know what is going to go wrong and get in the ay, haha.

(First off, premature apologies for a long ask. 😂)

So, I’ve had the Shi AU thing stuck in my brain ever since you first started taking asks about it, and because my imagination cannot leave me alone when it comes to plot ideas, I’ve managed to come up with three other ideas for how that AU could ultimately play out, so I thought I’d see what you and @tardisspacemug thought of them. (Well, technically I’ve got four potential scenarios for how that could play out in my head, but I really have no desire to explore the full-horror option of “Shi ultimately goes completely insane and Ghidorah either dies the same way they did in canon or manages to kill Godzilla and goes on to destroy the Earth” any further, so I’m just sticking with the other three.) 😂

So, what I’m thinking is, things really kick off when Ghidorah arrives in Boston, and Vivienne/Shi recognizes Madison right as the other three heads have her trapped and are preparing to kill her. The crucial difference between these scenarios and the Five-Heads scenario that you guys have been discussing, though, would be that in this case, that moment of realization – the idea that Madison, the closest thing that Vivi/Shi has ever had to a daughter, is either about to die, her life snuffed out in an instant, or that she might even suffer the same horrific fate as Vivienne – finally pushes Shi over the edge and into full-on rebellion. To hell with whatever the others might do to her as punishment, to hell with all the noises and the torturous memories in her head, because nothing that Ichi or Ni could ever do to her would possibly be worse than letting Maddie suffer death or torment in the jaws of Ghidorah. And so Shi lunges straight for Ichi’s neck and bites down on him as hard as she can, desperately trying to throw the other heads off-balance… right before Godzilla’s beam hits Ghidorah in the chest and knocks them away from Madison, saving her life just like he did in canon.

From there, the Battle of Boston would play out mostly the same way it did in the movie, with the exception being that Shi is done submitting to the other heads, and is now furiously attacking them at every opportunity, doing everything she can to help Godzilla. Goji, for his part, is thoroughly confused by his enemy’s new head and has no idea how she came to be or why she’s attacking the other heads, but since she appears to be on his side somehow, he doesn’t think about it too hard. Unfortunately, there’s only so much Shi can do to influence the tide of the battle, and Ghidorah ultimately overpowers Godzilla the same way they did in the movie.

Now, here’s where the different scenarios I’ve got in my head start to diverge from each other, because the crucial point here in my mind is the moment when Mothra is desperately shielding Godzilla from Ghidorah like she did in canon, and Shi tries to stop the other heads from killing her. So here’s what I’m thinking:

Option 1

Sadly, while Shi does try to help Mothra, she can’t do enough by herself, and the other three heads still end up blasting Mothra to ashes the same way they did in the movie. With Mothra dead and Godzilla seemingly dying, Shi is devastated and briefly gives up hope completely, certain that Ghidorah has won. Luckily, Emma is still able to draw the other heads’ interest away from Godzilla using the ORCA, which also snaps Shi out of her horrified trance and sparks her into fighting back again. Her continued efforts and Emma’s ORCA broadcast buy the time that Godzilla needs to heal and power up into his Burning form; he incinerates most of Ghidorah’s body, along with the heads of Ichi, Ni and San, but since Shi was helping him, he grabs her head & neck and tears her off of Ghidorah’s body before incinerating the rest of them.

After killing the rest of Ghidorah, Godzilla retrieves Shi’s still-intact head & neck from the rubble. She’s on the verge of having a complete breakdown, but the elation of finally being free of the other heads’ control helps her to stay coherent, and she tearfully explains who and what she is. Goji is obviously shocked by her explanation, but he thanks her for her help. Unfortunately, they both know that if Shi’s head & neck are left intact, the rest of Ghidorah will eventually regrow from her, and the whole nightmare will start all over again. Shi accepts this and manages to send a final message to the nearby Monarch team, apologizing for the part she played in Ghidorah’s rampage and telling Maddie that she’s sorry, before Godzilla solemnly puts Shi to rest by incinerating her. Ghidorah is dead for good (as there’s no head left behind this time), but Vivienne/Shi is gone as well, although at least she’s no longer suffering and her spirit can rest in peace now.

Options 2 & 3

Now, for the other two scenarios, the main difference from the first one is that somehow (probably via San having a change of heart after he spent some time looking through Vivienne’s human memories, similarly to how “San-2” was affected by Monster X & by Thor’s memories in Abraxas, and ultimately deciding to side with Shi when she lashes out against Ichi & Ni), Shi’s intervention manages to save Mothra. She’s still able to partially heal Godzilla while Ghidorah’s heads are fighting among themselves and distracted by the ORCA, but instead of his Burning form, they use Goji’s Red Spiral Ray to finish off Ghidorah (the same way they took out Keizer Ghidorah in Abraxas). Goji still preserves Shi’s head & neck, since she helped them. In this scenario, however, since Mothra’s still present, she’s able to help Shi by modifying her DNA the way she did for Monster X in Abraxas (when she helped them to transform from their first form to their second one), and is able to sever Shi’s connection to the rest of Ghidorah. She still has some of Ghidorah’s memories present in the back of her mind, but the actual, physical & telepathic connection that she had with their other three minds is removed, meaning that Ichi, Ni & San are all gone for good and they won’t regrow from her.

Now, from this point, I’ve got two possible outcomes for how this situation could play out, depending on whether Shi’s regeneration has changed after Mothra modifies her DNA to cut her off from Ghidorah: namely, whether her regeneration is still as potent as Ghidorah’s original healing factor, or whether it’s like the more limited regeneration that she had in Abraxas as Monster X, where she couldn’t actually regrow missing limbs.

Option 2, if Shi still has Ghidorah’s full regeneration: After Mothra finishes tending to Shi, she wraps the severed head & neck up in a large silk cocoon, and she & Goji donate some radiation for Shi to consume. The cocoon remains inert for a while, absorbing all of the leftover radiation in the area and slowly expanding over time as Shi undergoes another transformation inside, before she ultimately tears her way out of the cocoon and emerges as a smaller, single-headed “Ghidorah” with no remaining link to the other heads. I’m actually picturing her new form as being kinda beautiful, maybe with silver scales rather than gold (similar to how the gold-to-silver change happened with Monster X) and glowing green eyes. This would probably be the best/happiest outcome out of those three options, as Vivienne/Shi would get to be reborn in a healthy new body, but it might not be quite as happy as Abraxas’s ending was since Vivi wouldn’t have San with her as a brother in this version and she’d have to learn how to be a Titan without his help (while also still dealing with whatever violent impulses & dark memories that she's inherited from Ghidorah).

Or, Option 3, if Shi no longer has Ghidorah’s full regeneration: Godzilla & Mothra aren’t sure what to do in this case, since Shi is now just a head & neck with limited mobility and she can’t regrow a full body for herself anymore. First, they take her somewhere safe so she can recover a bit, before carrying her, at her request, to someplace where she can try to contact the Monarch team. She’s able to get in touch with them, and explains what happened as best she can. In both Options 2 & 3, the humans are obviously stunned by this revelation, just as they were in Abraxas, but since Vivienne hasn’t been “dead” for very long at this point, and everybody already knew that there was something really freaky going on with Ghidorah’s new fourth head (not to mention all the people who heard Vivienne’s voice crying out over the airwaves during the battle in Washington DC), it isn’t quite as much of a shock as the Vivienne-is-Monster-X reveal was in Abraxas.

With some help from Monarch, Shi gets set up in a safe, secure location (maybe at Mothra’s temple in China or someplace like that?), where Mothra and the humans do as much as they can to make her comfortable. However, she’s understandably depressed and struggling with the idea of being stuck as a severed head & neck for the rest of her life, even with Ghidorah’s freaky genetics keeping what’s left of her alive & healthy. The Monarch crew aren’t sure how to help her… until, a year or so after the events of KOTM, Maia Simmons shows up with a proposal from Apex Cybernetics. She reveals that they’ve started working on plans for a highly-advanced, Titan-sized combat robot, designed to fight alongside Godzilla and the other friendly Titans if another threat like Ghidorah ever shows up, and that they would like some assistance from Monarch in completing the project. Maia goes on to explain that Apex was originally planning to have a human pilot control this “Mechagodzilla,” using a neural interface that would temporarily transfer the pilot’s consciousness into the mecha… but it should be possible to, instead, permanently transfer Vivienne/Shi’s consciousness from her current “body” into the mecha’s artificial brain, thereby removing the need for a human pilot while also giving Shi a new, complete body. Unbeknownst to Shi and the Monarch team, however, Walter Simmons is also working on a secondary control system for Mechagodzilla, which could potentially be used to override Shi’s control and force the mecha’s body into obeying instructions from a human Apex pilot instead…

So, what do you think of these ideas? I’m honestly not sure which one I like best, since each of them seems like it would be an interesting scenario, so I figured I’d just pitch them all. 😄

The ramifications of Shi/Vivi snatching up Madison like she was back in Antarctica have a really dramatic, angsty appeal to them, but I'm also all for Shi/Vivi just going "FUCK IT" and doing her damnedest to fight back in all the chaos of Boston, regardless of how the battle ends and whether she herself lives or dies in the end...

Option 1: A bittersweet ending to the Shi AU if ever there was one, and from some perspectives it may be best for Vivienne Graham to truly die this way, set free from the utter hell she just went through and find closure in Godzilla's mercy, perhaps even reunite with Serizawa in what awaits after...

Option 2: It would make sense for Shi to have access to Ghidorah's full regenerative abilities at this point (Monster X's more limited regeneration can be described as Mothra "patching out" the bugged out healing factor that caused their regenerative defects in their first form); also bittersweet in the sense that she doesn't have San to help her learn everything she needs to live her new life as one of the Titans... but who knows? Maybe she can still get what lessons she needs from Mothra or even Rodan. (Rodan's totally not distracted by how shiny this one-headed Ghidorah is, what are you talking about?)

Option 3: For a second there I thought this would end up with Shi/Vivi almost looking like a single-headed Mecha-King Ghidorah, but this makes sense! Though, considering the mechanical body is Shi's, I wonder if she can find a way to regain control (with some outside help, of course!). Otherwise, this may end up badly for Shi...

Top ten worst artist’s versions of Morbius

Okay, one disclaimer first, obviously this is my opinion and my opinion only. I’m sorry if an artist you like makes it on the list but they deserved it *Coughs*. Also this is just the comics. Not including other media here, so don’t worry that stupid Spider-Man run game app version won’t be in this list to give you nightmares. Also because this is comics this will ONLY be 616 appearances that I find horrendous. So without further ado...

10: This is Peter Parker Spider-Man 78, art credited as by John Romita Jr. Yes, I’m already going to get hate. He’s a good artist but Jesus Christ on a cracker look at this.

THIS is the version of Morb I hated because he looks like a WWE wrestler. He’s huge! He’s a bloody boulder! His clothes are always too shiny and they are ripped all over. Look, I just hate it. The man can draw great superheroes just never draw Morbius like this again. This is a oil tanker in human form with fangs.

9: Jackson Guice. AKA the artist for Doctor Strange #10.

Look, I LIKE ugly. I really do but Morb isn’t supposed to look like a general plague victim. This guy looks more like a zombie than zombie Morbius does. Desiccated inbreed dog version Morbius, I hate it. He needs to be put down.

8: Paul Gulacy, Adventures into Fear #20. I said in my AIF review that Paul was not my fave artist. What I really mean is the art... it’s terrible.

That speech bubble is my reaction entirely. Look, I can deal with the face but again, too buff and this man cannot foreshorten limbs to save his life. Morb looks mangled and wrong on like every page of this comic. My least liked classic Morbius.

7: Look, I hate to do this but... Jackson Guice is on here twice because he amended his style from Doctor Strange# 10 to Doctor Strange #14 but uhhhh...

I like this LESS. Goth dandelion looking MFer. This Morb listens to the Cure and cries. Entomological damn eyes. I hate it. I promise this is the only artist on this list twice and it is ONLY because his style changed so much in four issues.

6: AKA Marvel Comics Presents 144 AKA M.C. Wyman *Dodges a brick* I’m sorry okay!? But this is freaking terrible! LOOK AT HIM!

I LOATHE it. The over shading, the warped features. This is demon Morb most of this issue so he gets a slight pass. That’s the only reason this art isn’t higher up this list of dread.

5: Morbius #16 Isaac Cordova. This pains me but this deserves this slot.

I hate it. This is demon Morb here and yes, at the end of the issue it gets just a little better but holy hell do I hate looking at this. There’s no detail in this art, too much shading, crappy backgrounds. It’s only saving grace is there exists worse art.

4: Now we’re getting into the REALLY bad art and it breaks my heart to put Morbius #25 in here because it also houses a short story at the back that is one of my favorite story/art combos ever, but THIS, This Craig Gilmore art...

THIS Craig Gilmore art... I am seething. This is objectively bad. The art loses all fine detail. The backgrounds suck, the way he draws women is a joke. Fabric with no folds, crappy shading. I could go on for houuurs. I hate it. I think it’s a big contributing factor to the comic getting axed so fast after this change though they did shuffle around the artists the last few issues which sadly brings me to...

3: Morbius #31, art by Fabio Laguna.

Look, other artists wound up here for making Morb incomprehensibly ugly. THIS artist is here for making him Clark Kent. He’s super buff, all the women in this issue are drawn super-sexy and all T+A. Proportion is lost on this guy he just makes shit up. This is so bad I have to post a second sample. This one is from the next issue.

I’d show you how he draws women but ya’ll can just look up any porn magazine and there you go.

2: TODD MCFARLANE YOU HAD THIS COMING TO YOU.

I despise his art. I hate how his capes take on sentience. His webbing looks like barbed wire, every damn guy he draws looks contagious! Jawbones don’t work like that!!! Gritty grimdark pig nosed Morbius. Tiny eyed untrustable armhair covered sewer urchin. Old mop haired snub-nosed pitbull. UGGGGH.

For years Mcfarlane was the absolute top of my most hated list because of Spider-Man #13-14. Because of this art. There’s only one worse artist on here.

1! Spectacular Spider-Man vol 2 #14 Paolo Rivera. No. No no no. I don’t know how such a good artists did this to our boi.

The writing is even completely OOC for this. For the longest time I assured myself this had to be someone POSING as Morbius. This cannot be him. Didn’t act like him, didn’t speak like him, and CERTAINLY did NOT look like him. Hairless grubby tights-clad nosferatu twink. THAT is slenderman. It’s like the artist was just told “LOL draw a vampire but poorly.”

Also not forgiving Spidey for that really offensive wise-crack there. So it goes that I would not trust one of the best artists, Paolo Rivera, with drawing Morbius EVER again!!! AGH I’m enraged now. I need to go look at good art and calm down. Hope you guys enjoyed the list!
