It was raining all over Ponyland, so Caramel Crunch and Lemon Treats decided to go to a movie. "How about a snack for the show?" Lemon Treats asked her friend. Caramel Crunch knew just what to do! She blinked her eyes and ... POP-POP-POP ... the falling raindrops burst into yummy caramel-coated popcorn! The damp air carried the scent of the sweet treat as the two friends scooped up popcorn for the other ponies. With all the excitement, Caramel Crunch and Lemon Treats forgot about the movie and the dreary, rainy day.

$3 will get you a lot in the salon.
This work order came in and got me thinking about a few things regarding the salon.
For one, this particular order frustrated me because I can’t get these ponies up to my standards. I don’t do stain removal for people because it takes so long.
These were sent to me with a warning that they had been used for bath time play for the past 4 years.
Caramel Crunch didn’t have any rust inside and I did manage to get her body color to be fresher, but she is stained.
Floater was a little more difficult because of how delicate the Magic Message cutie marks are. She was very mucky inside and cleaned up easily, which is always nice. I also got to try out some different types of swabs I had bought just for this purpose. They have long bamboo handles and made cleaning out hooves and the insides of Floater’s wings a lot easier. A little hair care and she was much better, but those stains...
Italian Starblossom’s tail had been cut, and she had both rust and bath muck inside her body that didn’t come clean as well as I would have liked. She has mold stains on the inside. Luckily for their owner the way that the Italian factory installs tails meant there was a LOT of hair inside her body (which contributed to the growth of muck inside, since hair holds water like a sponge). Once she was switched to the 2-zip-ties method of keeping a tail in, her tail was back to a normal length.
I did have to re-lay the tail one hair at a time, though, because both the large, metal crimp and the string that were originally in there had rotted and rusted to bits and everything fell apart in my hands as soon as I’d pulled it from her body.
Sky rocket had lots and lots of little, rusty, metal bits inside. It was very easy to clean with the new long-stemmed bamboo swabs, and moreso because I could actually see what I was doing.
Which brings me to the other thing I had been thinking about.
I charge $3 a head for a basic salon service which I’ve been told many times is much too low, and I agree. You get a LOT for $3 in my salon.
hair smoothing, conditioning, and resetting
a very, very good bath and if it’s a MLP I’ll remove rust and mold from the inside, too
If a few plugs of hair are missing, I’ll just put them in; for ponies I can take a few strands from their tail while it’s out for derusting or will take some from my vintage extra tails stash
if I happen to have the right color of tail for a pony that’s missing theirs, I might just install it
if the head and body no longer match they can spend a little time in my SunBox to be reset
But, this person is exactly the kind of customer I’ve priced my salon FOR. This was the parent of a child that had played with their ponies and wanted a little refresh.
