*read part 2 here*
*************************
the house was quiet minus the occasional sniffle from carl and i. he was sat with his head in his hands on the leather sofa, his fingers lightly gripping his brown curls. i watched him carefully through blurry vision from behind the kitchen counter, supporting myself with my hands on the cold marble.
it was dark, the moon and a single saucer light in the kitchen shining as light.
it was so fucking quiet but my head had never been louder.
“so what are you saying?” i whispered, carefully watching my words.
he lifted his eyes for a moment until he brought his head back into his palms. he refused eye contact. “i don’t know what i’m saying.”
“you don’t love me anymore?” every word i spoke sent my stomach falling into my feet.
he didn’t answer. i didn’t know if that made it better or worse.
“jesus, carl, answer me-“
“i still love you,” he finally responded, his hand rubbing his face in stress. “of course i still love you.”
“then what’s wrong?” i pressed, a sudden urgency filling my veins. “why are we even having this conversation? why did you come home and suddenly act as if we’ve been fighting for weeks-“
“cause we have been, y/n!” his voice picked up now, throwing his hands in the air and standing up. he still hadn’t looked at me. “we have been fighting for weeks! we cant even look at each other without fighting! ever since glenn-“
“stop.” i cut him off, feeling my chest clench. “this wasn’t them, it wasn’t.”
but it was, and i knew it. the aftermath of glenn and abraham put a strain on the whole group, especially me and carl. we came home that morning, stumbling out of the RV and hadn’t been the same since. every time i looked at carl, all i saw were the tears streaming down his face and the reflection of glenn’s bloody skull in his eyes. i saw the black line drawn on carl’s left arm, and the axe raised in the air.
i looked at carl and i saw death.
i knew he felt the same.
“that day…” he started, taking a breath. “that day i had no other wish but to die. to keep you safe if that’s what it took. i couldn’t protect you from him and i don’t know if i can even try. i put you in danger by loving you.”
i shuddered a breath as the tears began to
clog my throat.
“that’s why i can’t love you, y/n. not anymore.”
“you act like that’s a choice you can make.” i choked out, a feeling of anger pushing forward. anger at the way he thought he could fool anyone who knew him.
“i can try.”
“BULLSHIT!” i snapped, slamming my hand against the cold counter and feeling it sting.
he buried his face in his hands and i could see his shoulders shaking. i felt my heart break then, knowing i wouldn’t be able to change his mind.
a sob broke its way through my throat, wet and rough, and i instantly regretted it because carl looked straight at my eyes and i felt myself sink deeper into the ground.
“don’t do this, carl…” i whispered, looking into his crystal blue eyes, a raging ocean encased in this beautiful human who i’d have to let go. i shook my head at him slowly.
“i’m going to get you killed,”
“then let me be killed knowing you loved me! isn’t that the best we can do?!”
“the best i can do is keep you alive.” he countered strongly. his voice was no longer broken or shaken, but determined.
i realized in that moment nothing could be done to change his mind, it had already been made up. carl was stubborn, too stubborn for his own good and he’d never be swayed by anyone, even me.
no words were spoken between us as we stared at the floor, drowning in the absence of each other. all i wanted in that moment was to touch him, to feel him under my skin and prove to me that he’s still real and he’s still here after everything that had happened. but he was taking that away from me and ripping my heart out along with it.
he inhaled a sharp breath, rubbing his hand on his face once more before he said, “it’d be best if you went to carol’s tonight.”
i swallowed harshly, nodding. at least he was right about one thing.
too tired to argue further, i walked past him and to the front door. he kept his head bowed, not looking at me. i could sense the tension as i barely grazed his shoulder, walking so fast i barely registered the soft material of his flannel on my skin. i paused in front of the door, gripping the handle and hoping he’d call out my name and beg me to stay.
but he didn’t. and i turned around to see his eyes were still trained on the floor, back turned. i felt the cold air envelop me and i slammed the door shut, reverberating and practically shaking the house. i sucked in a breath and pushed forward to the blue house a few doors down.
i knocked wearily, feeling my knees begin to wobble as the effects of what had just transpired hit me. suddenly i was a mess on the porch, breathing erratically as i tried to process what just happened. but, when i saw carols face when she opened the door, concerned at my state of being, i lost it.
she carried me into the house and let me sob my way through the story. she held me while i cried and laid me down once i had fallen asleep in her grasp, eyes crusted shut with tried tears, cheeks red, and lips swollen.
i dreamt that night of glenn.
———
in the morning i woke to the smell of toast and eggs. my stomach growled harshly and i realized i hadn’t eaten since yesterday afternoon.
i gripped the banister on my way downstairs, being created with carol’s sympathetic smile. i sat down on the island counter as she pushed a plate of breakfast in front of me.
“i’m leaving for hilltop today.” i announced suddenly. her back was turned to me but i could sense the blank stare that must’ve washed over her. the sizzle of the pan of eggs on the stove top was the only sound heard for a moment.
then, she continued tussling the eggs in the pan, continuing on as if i hadn’t said anything. “it’s dangerous.”
“maggie needs me.” i answered simply.
“she’d feel much better if you stayed here. safe, with rick.”
i took a small bite of my toast, “she knows i can take care of myself. i should’ve gone with her and sasha right after…” i let my voice drift on, knowing i didn’t have to be specific. “i need to do this for her. for me. i cant stay here, carol, i can’t. not anymore.”
carol turned around at that, pouring her own eggs onto a plate. “well, i’m not going to stop you.” she said, taking a bite, “but i don’t think you should go alone.”
“i don’t need a babysitter,” i mumbled, beginning to lose my appetite. “im going by myself and that’s final.”
———
i opened the front door to the grimes’ home we shared cautiously. i anticipated to see carl in the front room with judith, as he always was, but to my surprise it was rick instead.
he was sat on the couch while judith babbled and played on the floor. his eyes were tired and lost, his face sunken with grief. he turned to look at me walking in and gave me the same, sympathetic smile i had gotten from carol.
i stood awkwardly in front of the door, looking anywhere but his eyes.
“he told you didn’t he.” i mumbled, not even being able to bring myself to say his name.
“no,” his voice was rough as he spoke, “i heard him last night crying in his room, after you’d left. and i knew.”
i felt my heart clench and my nose begin to sting. i nodded slowly, knowing i wouldn’t be able to choke out words i so desperately wanted to say.
“im going to hilltop today. only carol knows. i came to grab my stuff.”
his eyebrows furrowed at me and once i saw the disapproving look i spoke fast.
“i can make it there.” i promised, “we need each other.”
rick knew exactly who i was referring to and suddenly the look of disapproval vanished from his face. he nodded at me slowly, accepting the fact that this battle would be one he lost in trying to keep me here. he turned to judith and i took that as my cue to head upstairs.
“carl is at the armory, but he should be back soon,” i heard rick say, “i suggest you leave before he gets back, for both of your sakes.”
i didn’t answer, only continued up the steps. i didn’t want to see carl because i knew if he begged me to stay i would. it hurts knowing i perhaps don’t have that same control over him.
pushing open his door and revealing his room, our room was harder than i had imagined. i wanted to be out quickly, without hassle. i went through drawers, grabbing my things, stuffing them into the two duffel bags i had underneath our bed.
my heart dropped when i heard the front door open and close. i hadn’t been quick enough.
“where is she?” i heard his voice from downstairs and it motivated me to work quicker.
i managed to close the zipper on the second duffle bag but when i turned to the door i almost fainted. carl stood there with his arms hanging limp at his side, a blank stare on his face as he watched me pack my life away.
we stood facing each other for a long time. i stressed another fight, perhaps a bigger blowout than the last, but i looked into his sad, tired eyes and realized there wouldn’t be any fighting between us.
“how did you know i was here,” i mumbled.
“i went to carol’s looking for you. she told me you were leaving for hilltop.” his face scrunched up in disgust at his own words, as if just the thought of me leaving left a sour taste in his mouth.
“i am.” i said, voice feeble in an attempt to remain confident.
he shook his head slowly as tears began to rise up in his eyes. “don’t, y/n.”
“why not?” i pushed, crossing my arms over my chest. “why wouldn’t i leave? what’s left for me here?”
he didn’t answer.
“you let me go last night.” i stabilized my voice a bit, straightening my back to make myself look stronger as i spoke the words. “you can let me go again.”
“is that what this is?” he questioned, “is this reckless stupidity to punish me for last night?”
i scoffed, rolling his eyes at his narcissism. “no,” i chuckled in disbelief.
“then why? because this is the first time i’ve heard about this from you. not once have you said you’ve wanted to go to hilltop.”
“why wouldn’t i go?” i asked rhetorically, “maggie’s there and i want to help her. i feel so… so useless here! like, nothing is going right in this godforsaken place and last night was the last thing i needed to set me off.”
his face suddenly paled, his eyes softening. words were stuck on the edge of his tongue and i could see in his expression he contemplated letting them spill over. “i wanted to talk about last night.”
i turned around at that, beginning to rustle with my bag to occupy my hands. to do something other than hear him talk. especially about last night.
“i’m sorry. i didn’t mean to hurt you, you have no idea how hard it was for me, letting you go like that.”
i scoffed again, “you don’t even have a clue how i feel, carl, so don’t even try to sympathize with me.”
“i-“
“save it.” i spat, anger beginning to rise up my veins at the idea that he was about to pity me. “nothing you can say, nothing you think you can do to make it okay won’t keep me from-“
a loud bang on the front door shook me from finishing my sentence, both our eyes widening as carl ran out of the room and to the stairs.
“anyone home?” a booming voice spoke. i knew that voice.
carl, eyes still wide, turned to me in shock. i stood frozen, my hand still clutching the strap of my duffel bag filled with things.
“aww, you are a cutie-pie aren’t you! where’s your mommy, huh?”
at that, my blood ran cold.
judith was downstairs, by herself, with him.
without another moment of hesitation, carl was booking it down the stairs. i closely followed; forgetting our fued and any other reason why i would be angry in the first place. judith came first.
when i got to the bottom of the stairs carl was already in a staring match with negan as he held judith in his burly arms. the sight almost made me vomit. if he was capable of all he did that night, what was stopping him from harming a baby?
“well would you look what we have here,” he smiled his wicked smile. “i remember you,” he said, pointing at me.
“give me the baby,” carl demanded, his eye narrow. i wouldn’t have wanted to be on the receiving end of his glare.
negan chuckled, “and why would i do that? she’s so precious, i don’t think i’ll ever let her go.”
i felt my eyes sting when he lifted her up higher, examining her small, angelic face with devil eyes.
“i’m not asking,” carl said confidently, his voice didn’t shake or tremble. surprisingly, he was calmer than me, and it was his sister. he kept his eyes trained on negan, never once allowing him to leave his hard gaze. “give her to me.”
negan looked between the two of us before letting out a large gasp, his eyes widening, “no fucking shit, pardon my french but, aren’t you two a little young…”
my cheeks flushed once i realized what he was implying. i slowly shook my head, staring at carl out of the corner of my eye. his eye narrowed further.
“that’s my sister.” he spat.
“this is rick’s baby girl?” negan bounced judith in his arms again, eliciting a small giggle from her. “wow! now it’s a grimes’ party!”
he eyed me up and down, “sweetheart,” he beckoned me to take the baby, and without question i stepped up, carefully taking her out of his grasp and into the safety of my arms. i let out a sigh of relief, smoothing her golden hair back.
i backed up to carl’s side again, keeping my arms strongly around judith’s small body. she twirled a strand of my brown hair around her stubby finger, giggling again.
ever so slightly, carl stepped in front of me, shielding judith and i from whatever this man could do.
“so, where’s rick?” negan asked as he began trodding around the room, picking up trinkets left in the house by the previous owners.
“not here,” carl answered stiffly. out of the corner of my eye, i saw his hand lightly graze over the top of his jeans. my heart pounded a little faster.
negan sighed disappointedly, “well, im gonna go look for him! in the meantime, a few of my men will be by here to collect half your shit for me to take! kapeesh?”
he walked over to me and patted judith’s back, getting sickenly close. i held my breath, attempting to shield my fear. “i’ll be back for you, sweetheart.”
a chill ran down my spine when judith giggled at the man’s words. it felt like i was holding that breath in all the way until the front door closed and i could breathe again.
suddenly, carl gripped my shoulders and forced me to face him. “take judith upstairs and stay there.”
boots crunching against gravel outside made my stomach drop, the sound getting closer as each second passed. i shook my head violently. “i’m not leaving you down here by yourself.”
“i’ll be fine, go upstairs. now!” he pushed me in the direction of the stairs, judith cooing. i suddenly felt the urge to tell him i loved him, to hold him and make sure he’s safe. i never wanted to leave his side.
i had barely made it up the stairs and out of sight by the time the men had opened the door and i heard carl already start with the spiteful comments. he’s gonna get himself killed.
i placed judith in her crib, cooing to her softly to make sure she was settled. i locked her door from the inside, stuffing the key in my back jean pocket and headed for the stairs. i peeked through the railings, watching carl argue with one of negan’s men while the other ransacked the kitchen.
“you said half!” carl growled, watching the men stuff cabinet after cabinet of food into a large bag.
“we’ll take as much as we want.” one of the men replied, his tone snark and condescending.
my eyes bulged when i saw carl turn around and raise his gun to the man in the kitchen. he cocked it, his finger edging the trigger. “put it back.”
at this, i ran downstairs to carl’s side, just in time for the man behind him to cock his gun, right at my head.
carl’s head turned, his face pale when he saw the cold metal pressed up against my head, and the man’s strong arm around my torso.
“put the gun down, kid.” the man with the gun to me demanded. carl didn’t budge.
“carl…” i whispered carefully, my heart thumping in my ears loud enough to the point where i could barely hear myself talk aloud. “put it down…”
he stood there for a moment, his hand holding the gun beginning to shake as his pupil turned into a devilish slit to the man threatening my life. after what felt like hours, he finally lowered the gun, and i let out a sigh of relief when the metal left my hair.
we watched in distraught as they picked apart every inch of our home. luckily, we were able to keep him from going upstairs, and they left without another word to either of us. as the front door slammed shut i was pulled harshly into carl’s arms, his whole body shaking in rage.
his grip was tight and constricting, as if the anger was flowing into the hug. i could barely get a breath out, and i felt him shakily let out a few of his own into my ear, his chin digging into the crevice between my neck and my shoulder.
i could feel his rage. it coursed through him like the blood in his veins. his brain pumped more thoughts of negan, his saviors, their wrath, and i felt him slip into his emotions.
“i love you,” he whispered, his voice harsh, embrace still solid.
a tear dropped onto the warm skin of my shoulder, and by then i knew, everything he had said to me last night was nothing but a mistake.
i nodded against him, “i know.”
———
the rest of the day he didn’t let go of me, refused to. we laid in bed and i realized he was still thinking of this mornings’ events.
rick had come back an hour after the saviors left and panicked, asking about judith and if we were okay. he saw carl practically in tears from anger on the couch and me coddling his fragile ego.
he told us to stay in the house the rest of the day, and he’d be back to salvage whatever food he could find for dinner after our kitchen became nothing but a hollow, empty shell.
laying on carl’s chest, i drew patterns onto the grey of his shirt. we laid in silence, comfortable yet uncomfortable silence, until he broke it.
“today,” he started, his voice low, “when he had his gun up to your head, i realized something.”
i lifted my head slightly to look at him, his eye trained on the wall in front of us.
“you were about to die without me saying i love you today.” he sucked in a sharp breath, “and- and i realized i couldn’t live with myself if that happened.”
he finally looked down to me, his eye glazed over, staring at my with a heartbreakingly beautiful gaze that told me everything i needed to know.
“carl-“
“if you still want to go to hilltop i wont stop you.” he continued, cutting me off, “but if they come there-“ his voice hitched, his chest tightening under me. “remember that even after what i said, i cant ever stop loving you, y/n.”
the tears that had been building in my eyes finally spilled over. i realized the extent of what we were all going through, what our reality is. that we don’t know if today is promised, more so than before we met the saviors. that humans are far more dangerous than any walker we’d ever come across.
we were all living on borrowed time, and at some point, we’d have to return it.
i buried my head in his warm chest and sobbed. sobbed for glenn, for abraham, for maggie, for judith, for me, for carl, for us together. i sobbed for what we’d never have again as far as it seemed.
safety.
“what are we gonna do,” the words tumbled out of my mouth deliriously, through snot and sobs.
he didn’t answer, but carl’s grip around me tightening, and the way his chest stuttered, answered for him when his throat had nothing to offer.
but then he spoke. low and menacing. he acquired a sort of vendetta he didn’t have the night prior. he wasn’t about to let me go for them. not anymore.
“we’re gonna make them pay.”

I finished writing this so i said "why not?"

You've known Carl since the prison. You were injured, and he brought you back to the prison.
But after the prison fell, you and Carl got separated. But when you and Carl managed to reunite at Terminus, he had tears in his eyes. But he claimed it was his allergies.
And now you were in a town called Alexandria. It seemed alright to you. But you sometimes wondered if the Alexandrians knew anything about the outside world.
If they did, they wouldn't be throwing parties for newcomers. Speaking of parties, you and Carl were invited to one. It was lovely. You were able to socialize with kids your age. But you mostly hung around Carl all night. But he didn't mind. He enjoyed your company.
However, there was one secret, one that you and Carl both shared. You two were dating in secret. You didn't want to tell Rick, as he'd probably give you a lecture on not having sex and avoiding making another Judith. It sometimes got hard to keep the secret. Especially when Carl just couldn't resist you.
You were saying something, but Carl wasn't exactly listening. Instead, he was staring at your lips. "Yo-yo," he muttered. You rolled your eyes. Carl started calling you "yo-yo" because you tripped over one and slid down a road. It was silly.
"Yeah?"
"Can we leave? It's getting late," he said. You smiled. It was getting late. So you nodded your head.
"So where are we going?" you asked with a grin.
"I was thinking my house?" He said. He looked at you. You had a mischievous smile on your face.
{}
Once you were in his room, you closed and locked the door. When you turned back to face him, he had already taken off his shirt.
"Carl..." you whispered. He came over to you and kissed your lips. You smiled into the kiss and pulled away.
"You are so beautiful," You whispered.
You pulled off your shirt and bra. He bit his lip.
Then you took off your pants and underwear.
"Now you." You said. He nodded and undid his belt and pants and kicked them off.
He walked over to his bed and lay down. "I missed this." You said. "Me too." He grabbed your hips and slowly guided you down on his length. You moaned at the feeling. "Shit."
"You feel so good." Carl groaned. You leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips. You sat up and began bouncing on him. His grip on your hips tightened. He let his head fall back.
"I've been thinking about this all day." Carl moaned. You placed your hands on his chest and continued bouncing on him. "I know. I was thinking about this too."
Carl groaned. You let your fingers graze his nipples. "Y/n..." Carl whimpered. "Are you close?" You asked.
He nodded his head. And you replied, "Me too."
"Y/n... shit!" Carl groaned as he came inside of you. "Carl," you whimpered as you came on him. You climbed off of him and lay down next to him. He wrapped his arm around you and kissed your forehead.

Ok hi! I was thinking of like a carl x reader situation where the reader and carl have had very clear feelings for each other and were together at the prison, but once they got to Alexandria he slowly drifted towards Enid and away from reader (that was so badly explained omg)
—————————————————————————————
A/n: Ahh oh my god, I really went all in for this one. This one is really sad so just be ready for that.
Category: Angst, angst and angst. Little fluff here and there.
Pairing: Carl Grimes x fem!reader
Season: 3-5
Warnings: Mother passing while giving birth, violence, just a little kiss, cursing, verbal argument
Word count: 3.7k

Tumblr media
She had arrived at the prison with her mother and she was only thirteen. Her mother was pregnant, she guessed that was the reason why the leader here decided to take them in. They were about to send them away when his gaze landed on the quite large baby bump, the guy had a look Y/n had never seen before on his face. It was terrifying but when he saw that her mother was expecting his eyes softened and Y/n could swear she saw him tear up. She later found out it was because Rick's wife had died while giving birth the day before.
The first time she saw him, he was freshly heartbroken. His mind wasn't in the right place. His mother had just died, he needed someone but refused to reach out to anyone. Carl was convinced he could make it out here himself, he was mad at his father for killing Shane, who was like an uncle for Carl. He was a huge part of his life even before the outbreak. Back at the farm Rick had just shot him and now his mother was dead. He was just feeling so many different things at once and didn't know how to cope.
She found him very interesting and wanted to be able to give him comfort that he refused to be given. It was clear that he didn't just let anyone in, or was just some kind of facade he put up? In her eyes he seemed so tough and brave, Carl seemed like he wasn't afraid of anything or anyone. Still he wouldn't have a full conversation with her, he just talked to her when it was necessary or when his father ordered him to. Y/n tried to get him to befriend her and understand him but Carl wouldn’t let her in. She just never found the right time.
She hadn't had the time when they were at war with the governor because Carl was determined to protect and help this place at all cost. She saw when he shot that boy from Woodbury who was surrendering. It would be a lie if she said that it didn't scare her. From that moment on she feared him, not to the point where she couldn't talk to him but enough that she would watch her mouth.
Y/n succeeded with getting on good terms with Carl when the people from Woodbury were getting settled at the prison. The energy around the place changed a lot when they won and offered a place to stay for the remaining people of Woodbury. It wasn't their fault that their leader was sick. Carl also changed, maybe he felt like he could finally relax.
The two of them bonded, exchanging stories about school before the outbreak, telling other stories about trips with their families and secrets. They became close friends who could talk about anything. It was around the time that people started getting sick that Y/n realized she was developing a crush on Carl. Though she didn't have much of a chance to talk with him during this time when people were dying here and there. She was more worried about her mother who was pregnant furthermore was due in three weeks or so.
Everything was going fine until her mother started showing symptoms of the flu, everything in Y/n's mind started spinning. This meant that both her mother and the baby were at high risk of passing away. Hershel was always by her side explaining how this would pass and that her mom would survive this. Y/n had already lost her father a couple months ago, her mom couldn't leave as well. She just couldn't.
He was wrong though, her mom went into early labor while being extremely sick. Almost too tired to push, she gave it all she had. When the newborn human came out of her screaming and crying, the others noticed she wasn't moving anymore. Hershel put his index and middle finger on her wrist where he was supposed to feel her pulse, but nothing from her was heard or felt. Her breathing had stopped and her face was pale. Y/n had been sitting outside all this time listening to her mothers cries of pain as the child was pushed out of her body, how she gathered all the strength she had while being sick and continued on pushing. She had Carl beside her who saw how hard this was for her so he decided to grab her hand hoping to provide some comfort, she looked his way and smiled softly. When Rick came out of there with tears in his eyes she didn't want to believe it.
"I'm sorry..." he said as he tried his best not to cry.
She let go of Carl's hand then slowly stood up and looked into the cell, seeing her mothers dead body on the bed. That image was going to haunt her forever. Y/n didn't even think twice before she turned around and sprinted out of the prison. She got out in a matter of seconds, she ran onto the grass and fell down, too weak to keep going. She screamed out in agony while crying her eyes out, her mother was now gone, forever.
The next week went by slowly, the group wanted her to name the baby. It was a boy, but Y/n didn't want to see him yet. She wasn't ready. That was until Carl came into her cell where she was laying on her bed just like she had been all week. She didn't turn her head to him, she didn't move or do anything. She was just simply too tired.
"I know how you feel," Carl confessed softly. "I promise you it'll get better..."
"No, it won't." She mumbled shortly, before squeezing her eyes shut to avoid the tears starting to flow at the thought of her mother.
"Yes it will, I know it may not feel like it now." Carl said. "You made me feel better, I shut you out when you tried to talk to me because I was feeling just as you are right now. But I promise you it gets easier."
She sat up at his words, so she had succeeded with getting him to let her in early on? Y/n never thought he was listening to her at that time but turns out he was.
"It felt better when I first saw Judith... after I lost my mother." He sighed looking down at his shoes. "Let's go so that you can say hi to your baby brother." Carl reached out his hand for her to grab but she just stared at him. "Please?”.
Y/n took it, she would never make it out of this cell alone anyway. When she walked down the stairs to where the baby was on a table she felt an ache in her heart. It hurt a lot when she saw his face, he looked exactly like their mother. Everyone had always said that Y/n looked more like her father but this little fella was the exact image of their mother.
"He's sweet isn't he?" Beth asked, smiling sweetly at the infant.
"Mhm..." Y/n hummed quietly in agreement, unsure of what to do next.
After a minute of silence from her side she picks him up. Instantly supporting his neck, careful not to hurt his tiny fragile body. Y/n begins bouncing him a little looking into his eyes. She smiles at how he wriggles in her arms and doesn't even notice the tears forming in her eyes.
“Dimitri...” she blurted out.
Beth, Carl, Rick, Hershel and Maggie all looked at her since they were the ones standing around the baby.
“That’s his name?” Rick wondered, with a soft tone careful not to upset Y/n even more.
“Yeah...” she breathed while staring at the tiny man in her arms. “We had this thing about Greek mythology in school, Dimitri means follower of Demeter. And it was believed that Demeter, one of the twelve Olympians, was the goddess of agriculture. Who had the power to control harvest and fertility.” Y/n explained.
The others looked at her in awe and confusion. She had picked it since it was a miracle that the baby had even survived, if he could survive that then maybe he could bring some extra luck to the food growing outside. Considering that they weren’t doing the best at the moment, besides in this world you’d always need extra luck with agriculture and harvest.
“My mom always had many problems with getting pregnant, she always wanted me to have siblings but her and dad had so many problems getting me into this world that they gave up. He’s a miracle, meant to be here. Maybe he’ll bring more luck to the seeds we are planting outside.”
Rick smiled at her, grabbing his belt. “I’m sure he will, Y/n.”
Over the next weeks she bonded with her baby brother, she wore she would protect him forever and never leave his side since she was the only family related by blood he had left. That lasted until the governor came back and the prison fell. Y/n was placed on the bus where Maggie, Sasha and Bob also were, meanwhile Dimitri was with Tyrese, Mika, Judith, Lizzie and Carol. She freaked out when she realized he wasn’t on the bus, thinking she’d never see him again. Carl, Rick, Daryl, Glenn, Beth and all the others were nowhere to be found either. Hershel was dead, the governor had killed him. That fucking bastard always had to ruin everything. He was dead now though, so he couldn’t hurt them again.
Chaos broke out on the bus, people died, dead people rose and the only ones who got out of there were Y/n, Maggie, Sasha and Bob. They were now left to fend for themselves. Finding food, shelter, water and everything else. Maggie was barely hanging on, not knowing if Glenn or Beth were alive. Bob was trying to see the bright side of things meanwhile Y/n and Sasha were worried for their own sibling. A couple days passed and Maggie and Glenn found each other in a long tunnel. Glenn had found some new people and their names were Tara, Rosita, Eugene and Abraham. Now that they were reunited the group was focused on finding the rest.
The group had found a map where something named ‘terminus’ was supposed to be ahead of them. A sanctuary for all, as it said on the sign. Eventually they arrived, at first it seemed fine then out of nowhere everyone was forced into a type of container that you’d have on boats. Not knowing what was going to happen to them, they just waited and tried to come up with a plan to break out. After a while a miracle happened, the door opened and more people stepped in. Glenn went forward to get a good look.
“Rick?” he asked.
“You’re here.” Rick said relieved.
He tensed up when he got a good look at Tara, sending her a look of confusion and a death glare. Maggie noticed and spoke up.
“They’re our friends, and helped us along the way.” She explained, pointing out the four new faces.
Y/n didn’t hear Daryl and Abrahams chat since she was way too focused on something else, it was him. It was Carl, he was back. She grinned at him and he returned a smile back. She quickly took some steps forward and wrapped her arms around him.
“I thought you were dead.” He whispered in her ear, voice full of relief.
She put her head on his shoulder and sighed, now she just needed to find the rest of the people she loves. The group made up a plan to get the hell out of here and it worked. They left terminus a burning mess. While they were at the other side of the fence watching the tank that had just exploded, burn, admiring their win, Carol stepped out from behind some trees. Her face was full of mud and she was carrying Daryl's crossbow, Rick's revolver and MIchonne's sword that she had found inside. Daryl immediately ran and threw himself into her arms.
After that Carol led the group to a small cabin in the middle of the woods, Carl and Y/n walked hand in hand not wanting to risk getting away from each other again. They were reunited, the best person in the world Y/n knew was with her again. Carol and the rest of the group reached the cabin where Tyrese was found with Judith on one arm and Dimitri on the other.
Y/n let go of Carl's hand and ran to her baby brother. She took him ever so gently from Tyrese, immediately kissing his forehead and holding him securely in her arms. Now she could breathe again, having all of her loved ones at the same spot, knowing they were okay, Well, everyone expect Beth.
The group soon found a priest in the middle of the woods, he’d screamed for help and Carl insisted on helping him. His name was Gabriel and it turned out he had a church filled with food and supplies. The group was happy that they had shelter and celebrated this with a large dinner of plenty of different canned goods. The church echoed with happy laughter and smiles beamed on everyone's faces.
Abraham had revealed that he wanted a group to come with him to Washington where Eugene was going to save the world. When they asked him how he’d always say it was classified. But the group was still willing to help and Tara, Glenn and Maggie agreed to come with them. They would together work as a team to escort Eugene safely.
Everything was going great until the terminus people kidnapped Bob and ate a part of his body, Carol and Daryl went missing. Everything was chaotic. After getting Bob back he revealed that he was bit, this broke Sasha. Soon enough though the group managed to make up a plan to trick the people there. Those people were killed by some members of the group, then Daryl and Carol came back. They knew where Beth was and that’s where the group was headed next. A hospital that was still running in the middle of the city, it was quite an impressive achievement. Anyhow, Beth died, when Y/n, Carl, Maggie, Abraham, Glenn and some other people got to the hospital Rick came out and behind came Daryl with Beth laying dead in his arms. Maggie screamed and cried out, losing her last blood related family. Out of the hospital Noah came, he was a young boy who was a friend of Beth. He was a very kind kid.
Noah talked about this little place he had stayed at with his family when this thing started so the group went to check it out. They wanted to see if it was still up and running. It wasn’t. In that little neighborhood, they lost Tyrese. The group was so tired, everyone was passing and they weren’t getting anywhere. Carl and Y/n hadn’t been talking as much, no one was talking a lot. Everyone was feeling hopeless and frustrated.
They were on the road a long time before Aaron welcomed them to Alexandria. That’s where it happened, from the moment Carl saw her, Y/n knew he wasn’t hers anymore. She tried to talk and hang out with him but his eyes were glued to Enid. He’d probably gotten bored of Y/n, found a new more exciting girl. It hurt a lot, the person she loved the most was treating her as if she never existed. If he could just leave her this easy... did he ever even love her? Ron was in a relationship with Enid but Carl didn’t see that, the only thing he saw was right through it. It had been a week and Carl constantly talked about Enid and how he wanted to get to know her more and how amazing she was every time he was around Y/n. One day she was so fed up she snapped at him;
"You do know she has a boyfriend, right?"
"What?" Carl chuckles out of confusion.
"Enid, you do know she's got a boyfriend?" She asks again, rolling her eyes.
"Who?" He scoffs.
"Ron? He is your friend too, right?” She looked at him with wide eyes, he couldn’t possibly be this blind. “My god, you are such an asshole.” Y/n groaned.
“Me?” Carl scoffed again. “I haven’t done anything?”
“Seriously?” Y/n provoked. “You’ve been a giant douchebag ever since we fucking got here!” She raised her voice at him.
He looked at her like he was lost, mouth agape and eyes filled with confusion. Y/n crossed her arms over her chest that was rising up and down rapidly.
“Why do you even care?” he asked sincerely but you could tell he was getting irritated.
“Because you’re being a dick to Ron” Y/n yelled just earning an eye roll. “He’s your friend and you’re just fucking him over!”
“What do you know about mine and Ron’s relationship?” Carl stepped into her face.
“I know well enough to not be completely oblivious to the fact that he won’t like this when he finds out!” She screamed into his face. “You know what? Go fuck yourself Carl...” Y/n mumbled before going towards the door to his bedroom.
She was about to turn the doorknob but turned to look at him. “It’s so fucking tiring to hear you talk about that chick Enid all the fucking time.” She growled at him through gritted teeth. “Enid is so cool! Enid is amazing! Do you know what me and Enid did today? Enid this, Enid that!” Y/n mimicked him angrily.
Carl crossed his arms and looked at her daringly. “So what? Can’t I talk about people with you now?”
Y/n scoffed at his response, she couldn’t emotionally do this right now.
“Don’t you get it?” She yelled and went towards him, throwing her arms out furiously. “You have been a complete ass to me ever since we got here! Goddammit Carl!”
“What do you have to do with any of this?” Carl barked at her.
“You’ve just been complete ignoring me and thinking about Enid since you first saw her!” Y/n barked back. “I’m your girlfriend and I love you, more than she ever will.” She admitted hearing her voice and heartbreak saying it out loud.
His eyes immediately changed, looking at her with regret and pity. Carl wanted to reach his hand out to her as he saw her tear up. Y/n’s heart painfully twisted in her chest.
“You don’t even love me do you...?” She whispered.
Carl reached his hand out to touch her but she backed away immediately. “Of course I do Y/n.” He said softly.
“No, you don’t...” she cried. “Say it out loud then...” Y/n sniffled.
Carl sighed before breaking his gaze off and looking down onto the floor, putting his hands in his front pockets.
“Oh my god...” her hand shook as he brought it up to cover her mouth. “You don’t love me.”
He didn’t say anything, just stared at the floor, listening to her short sobs.
“Did you ever love me?” Y/n mumbled.
When Carl didn’t answer and just stared down onto the floor ashamed she felt a pit of anger rising in her stomach.
“Say something asshole!” She yelled before she shoved him backwards by his shoulders.
Y/n felt her heart shatter into a million pieces when Carl looked up at her and saw the look on his face. He didn’t love her, by the looks of it he never did. What the fuck was happening... this couldn’t be happening, this was a nightmare and Y/n needed to wake up. She slowly backed to his door and when she felt the door knob in her hand she ran out of there sobbing violently while she ran down the stairs. Michonne caught her in the door wondering what was wrong but Y/n just pushed past her.
“Carl!” Y/n heard her yell as she ran down the streets of Alexandria, until she entered the house where she lived with Glenn and Maggie.
She ran up to her room and slammed the door. Y/n heard footsteps come up the stairs before a knock on her door was heard.
“Y/n...? Everything okay?” Maggie stood outside the door, wondering softly.
“Go away!” Y/n sobbed.
“Honey...” she said with pity. “Please talk to me-”
“No!” She snapped. “I don’t need your pity or your sympathy!”
The few weeks after that Y/n just stayed in the house, not wanting to go outside and face the world. She hadn’t told anyone what was wrong, just shut everyone out. Carl just told Michonne that they had a fight, not what it was about. Therefore when Maggie came into the kitchen one afternoon and asked if Y/n thought it was a good idea if Enid moved in with them, she just looked at her getting incredibly upset again.
“No.” She answered shortly despite the anger growing furiously fast in her.
“What do you mean, no?” Maggie asked, confused.
“I meant no. I don’t want her here.” Y/n just growled at her.
“You know what?” Maggie snapped. “I’m losing my patience with you, you’re gonna tell me right now what the hell happened!”
“Why don’t you ask Carl?”
“He won’t tell anyone, just said you guys had a fight but it was clearly something more than that.” Maggie explained.
Y/n scoffed. “Yeah well he’s good at not telling one things.” She stormed out of the house, knowing if she went to her room Maggie would just have followed her.
She heard Maggie call angrily after her but didn’t care, she hated this place. At least at the moment, she hated everyone and everything. It felt hopeless, like no one understood what she was going through. Y/n walked to the little sitting area in Alexandria where she saw Carl and Enid giggling, kissing and playing around. She felt sick to her stomach and also like her whole world fell apart right in front of her. He never looked that happy with her. What was it she did wrong? What did Enid have that she didn’t?

Teen Romance - Carl Grimes
A/N: Welcome to my first imagine. I hope you like it <3
Summary: Remington gets claustrophobic in his cell block and goes outside to calm down
Warnings: Pure f l u f f & Carl Grimes x Male! Reader
Tumblr media
“Let me guide you to a
place where no one hurts you.”
—————————————————————————
the crushing weight of the world visited his brain every night along with memories and imagines of how he was treated before all this. he never had a good childhood. he was locked away most of the time.
rem shook his head and sat up, he couldn’t stay in the cell any longer. his thoughts and emotions were trying to rip threw.
rem walked out through the cell block and opened the door that led him to an open cement area that overlooked the yard. he sighed contently upon feeling the cool air of night on his skin. the moonlight lit up his face, his blue eyes shining brightly.
“rem? are you okay? what are you doing out here?” a voice was heard from behind him. rem jumped slightly but relaxed upon seeing his boyfriend, carl, making his way to him.
carl came up behind rem and put his arms around his waist and head on top of rem’s.
rem’s leaned into his hold before replying, “i’m okay my love, i just needed air.” rem half told the truth. not liking to make carl worry about him.
carl knew something was bothering him but he knew better than to push it out of his smaller boyfriend. “i figured you wouldn’t talk to me, so i brought your walkman. music’s always helped you calm down.”
rem turned his head to look at carl with a small smile and slight tears in his eyes. he’s never felt so cared for and loved in all his life. carl knew exactly how to calm him down and make him feel loved.
carl rewinded the tape back a bit before pressing play. rem’s body relaxed completely amongst hearing the calming melody of ‘teen romance’ by lil peep. rem closed his eyes as the soothing voice of peep filling his ears.
“let me guide you to a place where no one hurts you. you are safe here with me~” carl’s voice vibrates through rem’s ear causing the boy to shiver. carl didn’t have the greatest voice in the world but it was enough to ease any worries out of rem. carl’s entire being just felt like home and safety.
carl attaches the walkman to his belt before turning rem to face him. rem looks at him with a smile on his face before leaning in to kiss the slightly taller boy softly.
carl moves rem’s arms up to be in his shoulders while his own go to wrap around rem’s waist, pulling him close. the two pull away from the kiss and carl starts swaying them slightly.
rem giggles as he moves to hug carl. tears starting to pool in his eyes once more. “i love you.”
carl reached a hand up to wipe away a tear that fell from his eye. “i love you more.”
their foreheads connected as the two continued to sway to the slow songs.

Tumblr media
A basket got dropped beside you. It made you look up from your crouched position. – “Seriously?” – you called out at Shane. – “You couldn’t have dropped this ten minutes ago? We are almost finished.” – you went on. Shane exhaled loud wiping his hand down his mouth. – “Why do you always have to open your big mouth.” – he replied with a soft glare. You slapped the shirt in your hand down in the water as some water splashed up. Getting all worked up by how he threated you.
Shane watched as you got up but before you could do anything had Carol jumped up with you. Moving her hands in front of you to hold you back. One look of her was enough to make you settle down. – “Just do as you are told!” – he ordered finding himself amusing. You clenched your jaw, pushing with your body against Carol’s arms as they kept you in place. Shane scoffed funnily before walking off. Sighing loud lowered Carol her arms from around her.
“Come on Y/n.” – she said softly with a gentle nod. You took another deep breath squatting down again. – “I just don’t understand why he brought this now. He knew he had laundry ten minutes ago, didn’t he.” – you spoke trying to understand why he would taunt you like this. Carol took out a shirt, splashing it into the water. – “Let’s finish this up together.”
Carol and you washed the rest of Shane’s clothing. Obeying to what you have been told. When you were done you went back with Carol to the camp. You went over to Glenn handing him his clothes back. – “Aw sweet Y/n!” – he said bowing to you as a thank you. It made you smile back. You then went over to the campfire where Daryl sat munching on some meat. You gestured in silence to his clothing, moving them up in your hands.
Daryl gave you a brief glance before continue to ignore you. You wanted to place it down as Daryl suddenly pointed at his tent. You nodded back making your way over to his tent to lay it down in the front. You barely got up when you felt two arms wrap tightly around you. It startled you making you squeak loudly. Recognizing the arms around you, you eased up.
“Do that again sweetheart I like the way you sound.” – you heard Carol’s husband comment at you. Daryl spitted on the ground turning his gaze towards him in a tight clench. You turned around glaring at him for even saying such a thing in front of Carl. Carl was still hugging you as you held your hands against his back.
Carol gave you a look of sympathy wishing she could do something against her husband’s behaviour. You turned your attention down to your nephew. You led him away from everyone. – “Stay close with him!” – you heard Shane call out to you. You looked briefly over your shoulder seeing him stand by the car, elbow leaning against the open door. You simply turned back to the front as Shane scoffed. Finding you very cocky and thinking you were full of attitude when you honestly weren’t.
You just never understood why Shane was like this towards you. Carl and you made your way towards the woods a bit drifting away from the others. – “Auntie Y/n.” – Carl said as you hummed loud as a reply. Carl jumped on top of a log balancing his way across. You remained by his side in case he lost his balance. Carl hopped off joining your side. He picked up a stick, swaying it around. – “Do you still think about dad?” – he asked as it made you stop shocked. Then you turned around to him with a sweet smile.
“Everyday little one.” – you answered stroking his cheek. Your motion slowed down feeling a sudden wave of sadness. Thinking back about your brother Rick made you emotional. Carl noticed how glossy your eyes had become. – “Sorry auntie Y/n… I didn’t mean to make you sad.” – he said feeling guilty of ever asking it. You sniffed loud, blinking your tears away. – “Don’t worry about it Carl.” – you told him with a laugh.
You straightened your posture pulling him close to your body for a hug. – “If you ever want to talk about your dad and feel like you have no one to turn to, you come to me.” – you said hugging him tightly. Some twigs snapped as it didn’t make you respond quickly enough. Before you knew it had someone grabbed your elbow, pulling you away from Carl. – “I told you to stay close!” – it was Shane who yelled at you. Holding you roughly by the elbow.
“Do you want to put Carl in danger?” – he continued shaking at your elbow. – “Do you think you can save Carl from any walkers?” – he laughed once mockingly. – “Let her go!” – Carl called out running up to Shane to pound his fists against his chest. – “Go to your mother Carl!” – Shane made clear pushing Carl off him. – “Don’t talk to him like that!” – you answered loudly.
Shane’s face contracted with anger. He grabbed you by your neck, pushing your head down. – “I am so done with your attitude Y/n!” – he responded pulling you with him. – “No! leave her alone!” – Carl shouted at him. – “Go to your mother Carl!” – Shane roared out. Carl turned around taking a run for it while wiping his tears away.
“Shane let me go!” – you screamed trying to get his grip from on your neck. He puffed loud pushing you down onto the ground. Body hitting the ground and rolling a bit over. – “I’ve had it with you Y/n!” – he made clear pacing around. Wiping his chin. Breezing around like a hungry wolf. – “I don’t want you near him anymore. You are a bad influence.” – he spoke rubbing his hand over his head. You scoffed shockingly with an amusing undertone. – “I’m sorry. Boss!” – you snapped at him sarcastically.
Shane puffed his chest up slightly raising his hand till he stopped. Eyes widening at the feeling at the back of his head. – “You raise that hand of yours and I’ll shoot.” – you heard come from behind him. Leaning a bit to the side, you saw Daryl stand behind Shane with his crossbow against the back of his head. Shane lowered his hand again with a grunt.
Daryl moved his crossbow slightly to the side, right over his shoulder. An arrow fired. With a zap it found it’s target. Seconds later the sound of a corpse dropping. You had gasped looking over your shoulder to see the last of a walker drop down. – “Next one will be through your head.” – Daryl whispered to Shane. Shane moved storming off.
Daryl lowered his crossbow stepping over to you. He lowered his hand to you, looking away. Hesitantly you took it allowing him to pull you back up to your feet. – “Tha-“ – you started cut off by Daryl walking off. Taking a few deep breaths, you returned afterwards back to camp. Lori looked at you concerned holding Carl against her side. You simply smiled faintly at her to show her it was all right. You didn’t want her to worry. You took refuge in your tent needing time alone.
At nightfall some were sitting around the campfire. You sat near Glenn laughing silently at some funny things he said. You stopped laughing seeing Shane seemingly make his way over to you. He neared and before he could take another step had Daryl gotten up from his seat near you. His gaze stern, posture grand. Carol watched Daryl pressing her lips amusingly together.
Shane puffed with a shake of his head, turning back around. You were looking at Daryl, questionable when your eyes locked as he looked back at you. The contact was brief as Daryl seated himself back down as if nothing had occurred. Shyly smiling at yourself you couldn’t help but feel special that Daryl seemingly did seem to care for you. Otherwise he wouldn’t step in and just let Shane do whatever he likes around you.
Daryl noticed you were staring all smiley at him, making him shift his posture more away from you. You smiled looking down making briefly eye contact with Carol across the fire. Instantly you snorted knowing she was probably thinking the same. Glenn went on to talk to you as if nothing had happened.
After a few days you started to notice Daryl was more around you. Always near to keep a close eye on Shane. Whenever he even made the slightest movement towards you, he made one little movement to let Shane know if he even tried he’d be face to face with him. One day you decided to tease him about it. You were in the woods with Carol, Lori and Carl further down as you made your way over to Daryl who was keeping a watchful eye on you all.
Daryl looked uncomfortable away when you neared. – “Daryl.” – you said to greet him. – “Y/n.” – he mumbled back, looking around as if searching for walkers. You weren’t getting much out of him further so you decided to prank him. Suddenly you gasped loud as if startled. It made Daryl turn his head concerned to you. – “Is that Shane?” – you called out making Daryl turn his head again to look in the direction you were looking.
He immediately took a defensive pose before you, almost grabbing for his crossbow. When he noticed he was looking at nothing, he sighed loud. – “Damn it Y/n!” – he grunted out. – “Do you think this is funny?” – he asked looking your way. – “I do when you get so protective over me.” – you responded with a smile. Daryl rolled with his eyes. – “Like hell I care.” – he outed sounding annoyed.
You kept looking all smiley at him making it almost impossible for him to keep himself from looking back at you. – “I think you do care. Otherwise you wouldn’t keep Shane away from me.” – you told him. Daryl puffed loud. – “Maybe I just don’t like him.” – he responded with half a shrug. – “Or you just very much like me?” – you teased grabbing him by his shirt.
Daryl swallowed nervously when your noses almost touched. Daryl’s expression softened around you. His breathing tickling your lips. His expression made you blink surprised seeing the lovey dovey’s in his eyes. He moved his hand to your cheek letting it brush against it. Before he knew it he closed the gap between your lips, kissing you hard. You hummed loud, pulling away. - "So not caring are you?" - you chuckled out. - "Shut up." - Daryl answered before shutting you up with another kiss.

What did they take from you? Carl. They took Carl. I lost him again. When I got taken, I fought and I fought. Not just by trying to get away, but by how I would dream. I'd meet up with Carl in my dreams. And that's how I survived in here. Kept me alive. Then one day, he was just gone. He just left.
...
If Carl were here right now, what would he say? What would he want you to do with this new chance to be with those you love?

"He's Mine" - R.G.
pairing: rick grimes x f!reader
summary: s4 ep16. Joe's group finds you in the woods. reader is the one targeted instead of Carl
warnings: cursing, angst, mentions of sexual assault, blood, gore
a/n: this scene is my Roman Empire
Tumblr media
You were tired, exhausted from the day's journey. It's been three days since the attack at the prison. Three days since you've seen most of your family. You were lucky enough to have found Rick and Carl after everything went down, even luckier when Michonne came knocking on the front door of the house you were hiding out in.
It was nighttime now, you sat in the front seat of a rundown truck while Carl laid down in the backseat. It was unlikely that you'd get much sleep being so vulnerable in the open right now but Rick and Michonne insisted that you get some rest.
Your eyes stayed on the pair as they sat on a log off the side of the road. Every so often Rick would look into the truck, his eyes locking on yours before he returned back to his conversation with Michonne.
Things with Rick has always been a bit confusing for the both of you. It was clear from the moment you met that there was something there between you. Of course, nothing ever came out of it. He was married and desperately trying to fix the brokenness in his family.
Now that Lori has passed, it's been even weirder. Neither one of you wanted to make the first move and burst the safety bubble you were in, in terms of friendship. Nonetheless, you both knew you cared for one another deeply.
Your eyes dart to the woods when you see movement. Your heart drops as you see a few men creeping in the trees, eyes directly on Rick and Michonne. You knew what was about to happen. You weighed your options. You could scream and warn them, but you had no idea how many of them there were, nor do you know their intentions.
You guys are incredibly unarmed, nothing good would come out of this.
"Carl." You mumble quietly, trying not to make it obvious that you weren't alone in the truck. You have no idea how many of them are our there, no idea how many people were looking at you right now.
Carl stirred and grumbled slightly at your call, you shush him immediately.
"Carl, I need you to very slowly and quietly lay down on the floor of the truck. Keep the blanket over you completely." You mumble. "There are people surrounding us. I need you to hide until me or your dad tell you to come out. Do you understand me?" Your heart raced as you saw the men creep out from the treeline.
Carl quietly did what you said. "Y/N? What's happening?" He was scared. Carl tries his best to keep up with his dad and be a man, but he's still just a boy. It's a scary world now.
"Everything will be okay. Stay hidden, no matter what you hear, okay? Promise me." Your breathe hitched.
"I promise."
That was the last thing he said before one of the men shoved his gun against Rick's temple. You jumped in your seat as another man smacked on the window next to you. You tried your best to avoid glancing back at Carl.
The man grinned at you through the mirror, the creepiest grin you've ever seen. You couldn't hear what the other men were saying to Rick, but eventually a few more men came into view.
The creep tapped on the window, licking his lips as he stared.
Daryl strolled up to the group, it looked like they knew each other?
"Joe!" Daryl yelled, giving a name to the mystery man. You could tell he was trying to talk down the man that held a gun to Rick's head. It looked like whatever Daryl was saying was working, the man still held his gun against Rick but it looked like he was thinking about what Daryl was saying. All hope and relief you felt when your eyes met his vanished when two men grabbed Daryl, punching and kicking him.
Your heart drops as the other man throws Michonne to the ground. The door of the truck swings open and you pray that Carl is brave enough to be silent.
The man grabs you roughly, pulling you out of the truck before patting you down and throwing your pocket knife a few feet away. You fought to wiggle out of his grip but he pushed you against the ground faster than you could blink.
"Shhh.." He says into your ear. "We're gonna have some fun, sweets."
"Leave her be!" You could hear Rick yell over all the commotion. The grunts of Daryl filled your ears as he got punched and kicked only a few feet away from you.
The man on top of you was chuckling as you tried to fight him off, clawing at him and squirming to get out from underneath him.
"Listen, it was me. It was just me." Rick grumbles to Joe.
"See, now that's right. That's not some damn lie." Joe chuckles. "Look, we can settle this. We're reasonable men."
"Get off of me you sick bastard!" You shout, spitting at the man. His hands found it's way to your chest and you screamed as he touched you.
"First, we're going to beat Daryl to death. Then the girl. Then when Dan finishes having his fun with that one over there, we'll all have a turn." The smugness in his voice was deafening.
"Then I'm going to shoot you and then we'll be square." Laughter leaves Joe's body.
"Let her go." Rick says again, as your being turned onto your stomach.
You wanted to cry as Dan pressed your face into the dirt. The pain was forgotten as the sound of his belt buckle clanking rang through your ears.
"This is going to be a whole lot worse for you if you don't stop fighting." Dan grunts into your ear, pressing against your butt. Sobs begin to leave your mouth as reality of what was about to happen sets in.
There was no hope.
The man tugs at your jeans, trying to pull them down.
A gun fires. Everyone seems to pause for a moment. Dan stops for a moment and you take the opportunity to look up, praying that none of you were hit by the bullet.
You see Rick take a swing at Joe before Joe hits him right back, knocking him to the ground. Dan immediately goes back to what he was doing, trying to rip your clothes off of you. You reach for you pocket knife that was just out of reach.
Your cries filled at air when Dan pins you down once again.
"What the hell are you gonna do now, sport?"
Then a squelching sound fills the air before a body thuds to the ground. This time everyone freezes in surprise. You look back at Rick to see him completely covered in blood from his nose to his chest. He spits out blood and skin and your eyes fall onto Joe's limp body on the ground, blood gushing out of his throat.
Fuck.
Michonne doesn't waste a beat as she grabs a gun and shoots the guy holding her before taking out the ones that held Daryl.
Dan is on his feet in seconds once he realizes he's the only one left. He pulls you up, pressing against you as he holds a knife to your throat.
"I'll kill her. I'll- I'll kill her!" He shouts as Michonne points the gun at him.
"Let her go!" She demands.
Rick pulls a knife out of Joe, standing up and balancing himself. His eyes lock onto Dan, it was almost like he had tunnel vision. He pants.
"He's mine."
Rick takes a few strides towards you and you feel Dan's grip on you loosen as he's consumed with fear. He pushes you forward, staring to beg Rick for mercy.
Daryl catches you from hitting the ground as you watch Rick stab Dan over and over again. Michonne stands by you, trying to block your view of the slaughter.
"Carl." You whisper, realizing that he was still tucked inside the truck. "C-carl." You wiggle out of Daryl's grip, running to the truck and swinging the back door open.
You could see Carl's figure shaking underneath the blanket. "Carl." You say again. "Come on out, it's okay." You whisper. Slowly he peaks his head out, once his eyes meet yours, his body instantly relaxes and he's pushing himself off the ground and throwing himself into your arms.
You, Carl and Michonne stayed in the truck for the rest of the night while Daryl and Rick stayed outside. Nobody talked. Rick looked to be in his head.
Carl laid on across the back seat, his head resting on my lap. You tried to lull him to sleep but it was clear that nobody would be getting a blink of sleep after what just played out.
When the sun started to rise you asked Michonne to take your place, not wanting Carl to be alone. Daryl had gone out to scout the area.
You poured some water onto a clothe and sat down in front of Rick, settled between his legs but leaving enough space to make it appropriate.
His eyes flickered to yours as you wiped the blood off his face.
“Should’ve saved the water.” His voice was hoarse. You shook your head, trying your best to clean him.
“He shouldn’t see you like this.” You say calmly, wiping his hands clean once his face and neck were clean. Rick watched you intently.
“Are you okay?” His voice softens as he asks. You clear your throat, flashbacks of last night playing through your head. Ricks clean hand reaches up and his thumb rubs your cheek softly.
You were able to catch sight of your face in the car mirrors. Red scuff marks littered your face where you were pressed into the ground.
“I’m okay, it’s not that bad.” You shrug. Rick stared into your eyes, his hands still holding your face.
“Are you okay?” He asks again, really holding your gaze. Your chest tightens and you know you won’t be able to fight the tears.
Rick let’s go of your face but pulls your body into his immediately. You let the tears fall as he held you. “I’m so sorry.” He whispered in your ear. “I will never let anything happen to you. Ever.” He kept apologizing, his voice cracking every so often.
“You’re safe.” He says. “You’re safe with me.”
And you knew that he was telling the truth.

Devil's Haircut - (Carnid)
Summary: The last time Carl got a haircut was before his mother Lori died. He's finally ready for another one, and he's entrusted the process in Enid's hands.
Masterlist!! Taglist!!
Tumblr media
Pairing: Carl Grimes / Enid Rhee
Warnings: Talk of parental death
Era: Not specific, but sometime around s10, pretending the Grimes family is still intact.
Word Count: 1.3k
~
"It's getting a bit long for the summer don't you think?" Enid sat cradling the boy in his own bed, whilst she ran her fingers through his hair, tangled from a long day of physical labour.
"Perhaps, but I don't mind it." He knew what was coming next. It didn't bother him as much as it used to, nevertheless he'd still sometimes catch himself accidentally holding his breath when the topic came up.
She ruffled his hair around, "Maybe I could give it a trim for you sometime. God knows when you last had a haircut." God might have known, but so did Carl, in fact, he remembered the occasion quite vividly. It was one of those memories he had clutched to in fear of losing after his mother died, she'd given him his last haircut.
After the tragedy, Carl had racked his brain for every reminder of his mother, mentally cataloguing it all, his memory was the only thing that wouldn't abandon him until he himself abandoned the world. For years he had spent hours each day making sure there wasn't one thing he'd forgotten about her.
As much as Carl wanted to honour her existence by telling everyone every story he had, part of him wanted to keep the small pieces of her that only he knew, right in his pocket. As if to remind him that she wasn't just stories, but she had actually, at some point in time, been tangible.
He could tell the story of his last haircut as much as he'd like, people would understand it, some had even been witness in the moment. But no one could understand how it felt to be protected by his mother's touch, comforted and soothed within such a trivial activity. In those last days before the world was ultimately doomed, whilst there was still hope, she'd kept only the most fragile of touches for her son, wanting to protect and shield him from what had seemed to be the short-term decay of the world. So that maybe, once the world had fixed itself, he wouldn't remember the global panic that froze everyone, only that his mother loved him.
He hadn't had another haircut since, he feared that if he let someone else handle him in that way, the memories would intertwine and his mother's touch would become watered down and worthless. It scared him.
~
Carl looked up from the poster he'd been blankly staring at, welcomed back to Earth by Enid's smiling face. God he loved her, sometimes he wanted to shout it from where everyone would hear, but other times he just wished to engulf her in the fact, in the comfort of his own room.
"You don't have to cut it if you don't want, it was just a suggestion. But, I do need you to help with mine tomorrow. Think you can do that?" Carl nodded his head. She planted a quick kiss on his forehead and thanked him.
They spent the rest of the evening doing their own activities, by each other's side, with only small chunks of conversation being exchanged every so often. They enjoyed the mildness of one another's company.
~
Enid set up on the front porch, clippers and fine combs, she carried a chair out the front door. Carl followed quickly behind, asking "So what do I actually have to do?" She sighed and replied: "Don't worry, it's nothing too laborious, just a trim."
He awkwardly approached the scissors, as if he'd never seen a pair before in his life. It took him a couple minutes, but he soon began feeling around Enid's head with his hands, reassuring himself that there was no possibility of screwing up.
She didn't rush him, and let him take his time. Enid enjoyed the closeness, and the domestic nature of the activity, it made her smile. She'd told Carl neatness didn't matter, she didn't mind whether it was raggedy or uneven, she'd live. At least it would be cut.
There was still hope inside of her that the act of cutting her hair would bring Carl around to letting her reciprocate the action on him. As she hoped, the further they progressed, the more slick his touches became, and the more carefree he was with the scissors, he might have actually been enjoying himself.
~
"Okay I'm done." Carl dusted off Enid's shoulders and let her come inside with him so she could view the final product. He looked proud of his work as she played around with her hair in the mirror.
Enid turned around and smiled into a kiss on his cheek. She pulled away to look at his face. Upon matching her stare, his gaze softened, "You know, maybe a small trim wouldn't hurt." Enid was ecstatic that he'd finally confirmed her this privilege.
She was quick to have him pulled away from her, as she led him back out to the porch. He sat down on the seat Enid had been sat in earlier, and she eyed up and down the length of his hair, deciding where would be safest to cut.
~
Carl wasn't even thinking of saying yes until he'd finished with Enid's hair. He'd seen the neighbours strolling past the house, quickly looking at the pair of them, only to smile and look away, as if they knew how sacred that moment was, even before Carl did.
He realised that these were the moments he wanted to outweigh the major events in his life, even though by comparison these ones were microscopic in importance. He wanted to make memories that didn't just bring joy upon reflection, but the ones that had also been joyous in the moment.
He didn't let these thoughts over-complicate the event, he sat patiently, feeling Enid take to his hair, double-checking every move she made. The segments of silence were constantly broken by pieces of playful conversation, which brought the pair to laughter. It was a peaceful environment, and Carl felt as though the interaction was encased by a small bubble, which no harm could penetrate.
~ Enid put the scissors down and took one final glance at her completed handiwork before telling Carl she had finished. He didn't immediately rise, he was still savouring the last of it, but as Enid followed him back into the bathroom, she was almost as excited as he was.
Carl took one look at himself in the mirror before letting out a single smiling breath. He could barely notice a difference in length and style, although he had to admit the load felt a lot lighter, and would do him much better in the increasingly warm oncoming weather.
"Do you like it?" Enid asked, the few seconds of silence had been too much for her, awaiting his feedback was painful.
"Yeah, you did good, really good." He looked at her once more, taking visual screenshots of the moment, that would last forever in his memory.
~
The thought of his mother didn't even hit him until well after the event had ceased, and the two of them were preparing a Grimes family dinner in the kitchen. But upon taking one glance at her, Carl concluded that he didn't mind that his mother's memory was beginning to become entangled by hers, in the end all his memories boiled down to love, and he loved her now more than ever.

A Tree and Lake
Fandom: The Walking Dead
Tumblr media
Pair: Carl Grimes x gender neutral reader
Tw: Probably spelling mistakes, not proof read, implications of death, no walkers mentioned, dreams of a dead loved one, pre-established relationship, Death, grave sight, nickname (my love), and sad with a hint of fluff.
Pronouns: None used
Key:
(Y/n) - Your name
Tumblr media
Y/n’s POV
“Come on get out of bed.” Carl told me playfully . “I can’t, not yet.” I said with a smile. “If you don’t I will make pancakes and eat them all by myself.” He exclaimed and began to walk down stairs as I sat up and walked down stairs. “Smells good.” I murmured walking behind him and hugging him. “I know I’m making it.” He said proudly.
“What’s got you being so cocky?” I asked tilting my head as I walked away. “Nothing I just miss you.” He said as I looked down. “Right.” I muttered as he sat down next to me and I laid my head on his lap. He played with my hair and I hummed softly. “It’s almost time for you to go.” He told me and I looked up at him.
“I don’t want to Carl.” I said as he smiled at me and sat me up and kissed my forehead. I’ll be right here when you fall asleep I promise my love.” He said happily, I began to tear up. “Please don’t make me.” I begged him, he held my hands. “I’m sorry (Y/n). Wake up.” He said and I did.
I was all alone in my bed. It was cold. I curled in on myself and cried. I heard soft knocking, my door creaked a second later, followed by a kid. “Yeah Daryl?” I asked and he sat next to me on my bed. “We found a place for him.” He told me and I sat up.
“I’ll be there in second let me get dressed.” I told him and he walked out of my room closing the door behind him. I sighed when I was done changing and saw his hat. I put it on then my shoes, walked out my front door. I saw Rick and Daryl there as they walked me to the spot.
It was by a tree near the lake. I smiled softly as they left me and I sat by the tree. I laid and I took off his hat and setting it on top of the freshly placed dirt.
“Ya know I dream about you every night. I don’t know if it’s actually you or just how I remember you. I remember when I met you here, our first date was here, our first kiss…a lot happened here.” I mumbled to myself.
“I’m glad this is your final resting place my love.” I muttered and placed on the dirt and started to doze off. I love Carl Grimes. I hope you always knew that, my cowboy.
Tumblr media
A/n: Hey all idk if this is the second one this month, but I am on my Carl Grimes trend again. I watched the entire show from the time I was 12 until Rick’s “last” episode. I’m 20 now and I still have a thing for Chan Chan (Chandler Riggs). My mom and I have called him Chan Chan since I was 13. I’m glad y’all are still out here keep Carl’s memory alive and somehow know what Carl poppa is. Either way I got a little emotional writing this and I hope you enjoy loves!

not anymore pt2
Tumblr media
summary: y/n tries growing in her grief at hilltop.
pairing: carl grimes x female reader
a/n: ya’llllllll thank you so much for loving the first part!!! i’d actually written pt1 a year ago and never rlly planned to ever make a pt2 but ask and you shall receive lolol, hope you like!!
*read part 1 here*
*************************
“todays the day rick n carl should be gettin here,” maggie said, sending a spoon with tomato soup into her mouth, “you ready to see him?”
i released a shaky breath, playing with my own bowl of food as my starved appetite vanished. i stared at the red, swirling liquid. “i don’t know.”
“a month wasn’t enough time apart?” she asked, eyeing me cautiously.
i hadn’t wanted to repeat myself, but i had no other answer. “i- i don’t know.”
it hadnt seemed like a month apart. i would’ve sworn it had been yesterday i walked out of alexandria alone, two duffel bags in my hand and a gun, ready to fend off anything or anyone that crossed my path.
but it had been a month, the longest we’d ever been apart. and i missed him more than anything.
it still didn’t shake my hesitancy, my worry that the moment we spend time alone we’ll go back to disagreements and fighting and perhaps, i’d never go back to alexandria again. and that’ll be the end of us. till one of dies and the other is forced to reconcile the fact that we’d never made up.
it scared me to see him. to see death again.
“well,” maggie swallowed again, her short hair bristling in the chilly air from the open window, “i think when you see him, that’s when you’ll really know.”
i nodded slowly, my eyes still trained on my soup.
she stood up out of the chair, “i need to find greg, talk to him ‘bout a few things.” she eyed me again, noticing my static, unmoving position. “you’ll be alright while i’m gone?”
i looked up at her then, not wanting her to worry, “i’ll be fine, mags.”
she gave me a small, reassuring smile and a kiss on the crown of my head before she went off, and i was left in my thoughts.
luckily, maggie’s trailer provided a lot of privacy, and knowing the tenants at hilltop, i wouldn’t be disturbed.
i stared off to a chip in the paint, thinking.
——
“i can come with you.”
“carl-“
“why can’t i just take you to hilltop and leave?”
“because, carl, don’t-“
“it’s dangerous, y/n, and reckless-“
“carl-“
“and stupid-“
“would you stop interrupting me!”
he went quiet then, his burly arms crossed over his flannel chest, eye staring daggers into my figure.
we stood by the door to our house, two duffel bags leaning against the wall i so desperately wanted to pick up and run out.
i knew despite him saying he wouldn’t stop me going, it wouldn’t eliminate the imminent last ditch effort fight from occurring.
“you told me you’d let me go.” i said slowly, as if reprimanding a child, “don’t go back on your word.”
he rolled his eyes, “god forbid i don’t want you out there by yourself! have my dad take you for fucks sake just don’t-“ he pinched the bridge of his nose, inhaling stressfully, “don’t go by yourself.”
“i can take care of myself, carl.” i spat, feeling anger surge through me at his distrust in me. “i’ve survived this long.”
“you never know what can happen out there.” he threw his hands up, “or here! yesterday, that dick’s gun was to your head in this fucking room!”
i felt his rage, i voiced his yells. it made my head spiral that i were still trapped in alexandria, suffocating in this broken reflection of my relationship that could barely withstand some independence.
but, bringing myself to reality, i also knew his fear, knew the dread at the unknown. knew the loss he was experiencing even while i was still standing in front of him, alive and breathing.
i shuddered out a breath, walking over to him to put my hands sturdily on his shoulders.
i looked up at him, watching his anger dissipate when we locked eyes.
“i know you’re scared for me,” i said softly, talking quickly before he’d have a chance, “but i need you to trust me.”
“y/n-“
“no,” i put my finger to his soft lips, “let me finish.”
i brought my hand down, his eye watching my finger fall from his flesh.
“i’ll send a letter the second i get to hilltop, so you know i’m safe,” i swallowed, “i’ll have my gun loaded and extra ammo, anything i could scavenge up from the armory.”
his eyebrow relaxed, listening to me talk.
“this is what we’re made for now,” i shook him a bit and sent him a weary smile to ease his tension, “we’re made to do these things on our own.”
he exhaled shakily, nodding to fool himself into thinking he’d allow this, that he’d watch me walk away from him into trees of undead and alive.
i leaned up to his face, our noses brushing every so slightly. my heart boomed in my chest, beating so hard i swore he could hear it himself. maybe it was both of our hearts, desperate to intertwine again.
“do you trust me?” i whispered softly, so our lips grazed.
i heard him swallow, and the breath from his nose fan my face.
“yeah,”
i pulled back at that, knowing if we kissed, for the first time since…, i knew i’d lose the battle to my heart and stay.
i grabbed the two duffel bags and locked my palm around the doorknob.
looking over my shoulder, i sent a reassuring smile, “i’ll see you when we’re okay.”
he didn’t respond, and while it sent a jolt to my gut of disappointment and guilt, i turned back and opened the door.
“y/n,” i heard him say, just as i left.
i barely looked over my shoulder.
“i love you.”
i bit my lip, finally, tears stinging the corners of my eyes.
“i love you, too.”
and the door shut.
——
crossing the lines to hilltop and realizing who i’d be seeing almost sent me running the other direction.
fear of maggie’s state of being gave me a headache as i drew closer to the entrance, and once i was close enough in view, could see her faint outline on a lookout post illuminated by the bright sun behind her.
i knew she saw me when i heard a voice scream my name.
she disappeared from the post and soon the large, wooden doors opened. i ran the rest of the way, dropping my bags and falling tiredly into her expectant arms.
as much as i told myself i’d stay strong for her, the smell of her hair and the memories of that night came sweeping back and i sobbed, wet and noisily, into her chest that shook with her own cries.
i didn’t realize we’d fallen to the floor till i felt my exposed knees sting from skimming the rough dirt.
“what-“ she sniffled, a sob breaking through her, “what are you doing here?”
i took a shaky breath in, trying to compose myself, “i came to see you.”
she frowned, burying her face back into my shoulder.
we cried a few more moments, let ourselves drown in glenn’s absence, in front of all the onlookers who just watched silently.
i pulled back, dread creeping into my stomach when i looked at maggie’s
“the-“ i swallowed, “the baby-“
“fine,” she answered quickly, stroking tears off my cheeks and sending me a faint smile, “just fine.”
i breathed a sigh of relief, nodding at the scarce good news before standing and helping her up, too.
she looked healthier than the last time i saw her, fatter in her face and her arms. her stomach barely bulged as a reminder a part of glenn resided there.
behind her i saw sasha standing, her arms folded. even from far away, i could tell she just looked even worse, instead of better.
i sent her my best sympathetic smile, receiving one back but knowing deep down, it was just another lie to comfort me.
i looked to maggie, gripping her forearms, “take me to him.”
seeing glenn’s grave, surprisingly, comforted me more than disturbed me. to know we had him, safe under dirt and bugs, but still, safe. better than laying out in the gravel, for prying, evil eyes to view him.
he was returned back to us in less than one piece, but his soul was whole with us.
i held maggie’s hand as we looked down, a few flowers resting over the raised patch of dirt.
i swallowed harshly, “what would he think now?”
“of what?” she asked softly, our eyes never wavering from the ground.
“of carl and i. of what’s been destroyed.”
i felt her squeeze my hand, “you and carl aren’t destroyed.”
i shook my head, feeling tears blur my vision and my nose sting.
she continued, “you’re right for the time apart, to grieve separately if that’s what you need.”
“is it enough?” i asked brokenly, finally looking at her.
she gestured our intertwined hands to glenn’s grave.
“ask him.”
and so i did.
i spoke to glenn’s grave everyday. sometimes scattered stories of our memories, from the prison, from on the road. sometimes i cried so hard i couldn’t breathe under the empty dusk, sometimes i laughed so hard my stomach hurt. sometimes i sat in silence.
but mostly i talked about carl.
——
if i stared hard enough at that paint chip, i could’ve sworn the wall tore a bit more right before my eyes.
i knew who i had to see, to remind me this absence was for something, that i’d grown in my grief.
my feet carried me to his grave, hidden away behind maggie’s trailer. i sat down comfortably in front of it, hugging my knees to my chest.
“are we okay?” i whispered to the air. “will i see you in him?”
“was all of this for nothing? will it always be this way, glenn?” i wiped my hand over my nose.
i let out a shaky breath at the thought, “can we overcome this?”
“yes.”
my head whipped around, and i saw carl, standing with his arms at his sides, tears filling up his ocean eye.
it gave me whiplash how fast i stood up and launched myself into his unexpecting arms. they rested limp for a moment, but quickly moved to hug my torso tightly, lifting my feet slightly off the grass as i wedged my head between his neck.
we pulled back slightly to stare at each other, and i searched his face for the blood, for the black line, for the axe.
i smiled softly when i realized all i saw were glenn’s memories.
happy memories, of the hot days at the prison when we sweat so hard playing tag, of playing a dusty board game in alexandria the first night when we were too hesitant to sleep, of watching his love with maggie and seeing it reflected in carl and i.
“why’re you smiling?” he whispered, his own face pulling to reveal a grin. he knew.
i leaned in closer, tipping his sheriffs hat up so our noses could brush.
“because i don’t see it, not anymore.” i finally let our lips touch, a kiss that sent flames bursting in my stomach and my fingers to shake with anticipation.
he leaned into the kiss, and i felt the breath on my face at his sigh of relief.
i knew he knew what i meant when i saw the tiny twinkle in his eyes reappear looking at me, knowing he felt the same.
i pulled back ever too quickly, evident in how he leaned in again.
but before i gave him the chance to kiss me again, i let my smile burst through.
we all had a long way to go, people to kill and more people to lose, but in this moment, right in this moment:
“i see you now.” i said.
and that was enough.

The amount of smut that is written about Carl genuinely concerns me. Wasn’t he always a child? Definitely younger than 18 (also wasn’t the actor also that young?)

"𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠" | 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬
summary: as you sit bored in a supermarket with Carl, you both find a written porno and decide to recite it while dying laughing
Tumblr media
carl grimes x fem!reader
cw: suggestive talk, reference to sex, just fluff!!
request: Can you maybe do a one shot of Carl and reader reading a porno they found on a run and making fun of it or smting (this is my first time requesting something omgurrr)
Tumblr media
"don't stop!" you cry out, grinning ear to ear as the flimsy paper rolls off your fingers and onto the slippery floor of the empty supermarket as you bark out laughing
"no- no! it's my turn!" Carl cries out as he reaches for the shiny magazine that's now flung to a different page
you slid down the counter of the checkout where you both are hiding away, well, were hiding away before a porno fell out from the cabinet, most likely from a really bored worker.
Carl flips the pages before landing and scanning through the page you were on, trying to find the place you left off
"ok..umm...oh! you're gonna take everything I give you!" his cheeks blow up with air as he tries to contain his laugh but just ends up laughing harder
"give me that!" you snatch it away from him, clearing your throat as you search for the actress in you
"yes! um.." you look back at the page
"da-...daddy?" your face scrunches up in disgust as carls face goes pale before falling back on the tile, dying as you stare at the words
"who says that?" you ask Carl but he is too busy laughing to tell you
"people- who um-" he chokes a laugh "are into that I guess"
your lip twist in disgust as you turn the page to continue
"uh- UHAAA!" you toss the magazine at him as he jumps back at your reaction
"what? what?" he crawls over to you as you fling your hand in the air
"there are stains on that page" you almost gag as your finger grazed the page and now you want nothing to do with it
"UGH EW!" Carl lunges back from you like you're infected and you look at him betrayed
"I didn't touch it!"
"then why is your hand above your head like you did?" his blue eye squints at you with fake distrust while he has playfulness oozing from all around, you grin as you position yourself to run
"fine then!" you leap and try to spread the infected hand onto him but he runs away, you chase in through isles as he tosses back empty cereal boxes and whatever he can to keep you away from him
"get away from me!" he shrills and you just laugh manically
"what are you two doing?" a gruff voice yells out behind you and you both stop dead in your tracks before turning to see Rick
"um..." you peep
"scavenging?" Carl tries and you snort a laugh and Rick snaps his glare at you
"In the car. both of you."

Tumblr media
part 1
pairing: rick grimes x reader
summary: you're adjusting to life after rick cheats on you
warnings: cursing, rick is an absolute lost puppy without you
author's note: i'm not sure what you guys were wanting in the part two in terms of resolution, but i wrote this with intentions of rick being a loser LOL BUTTTTTT, I can absolutely make an alternate ending where they work it out. but for now, boss babe Y/N.
-
It's been a month since you and Rick broke up. The day after you caught him and Jessie you packed all your stuff up and moved into Daryl's little cabin just outside the walls.
It was odd at first, being away from Rick. Being away from Carl and Judith. It was miserable. You were miserable.
You stayed in the cabin for a week straight, despite Daryl's several attempts to make you go into the walls with him during the day. Eventually he stopped, knowing you would face everyone when you were ready.
By everyone, you meant Rick.
Everyone caught on pretty fast considering you moved out of the house, out of the whole community. Maggie and Carol were the first to come see you and ask what happened.
It wasn't until Carl came knocking on the door with Judith on his hip that you decided to take that step and go back in to the walls.
According to Carl, everyone knows what happened. Everyone knows that Rick cheated. Everyone knows it was with Jessie- not like that was a surprise to anybody.
Your first day back inside was awful. Everyone kept giving you pity glances, knowing that you were the victim. You hated it. Yes, Rick cheated on you but you definitely didn't need anyone's pity.
You avoided Rick like the plague at first. Any sight of him you were turning the opposite direction. Whether you liked it or not, Rick is the leader of Alexandria- your leader.
You couldn't avoid him forever. But you sure as hell did your best.
Now a month later, you still weren't okay. Who would be after finding your boyfriend macking on another woman he told you not to worry about?
"I'm here to relieve you of your duties, madam." Abraham bowed deeply to you. You rolled your eyes, handing him the rifle.
"Thank you, kind sir." You laughed, heading down the ladder. Things were a bit easier now. People were acting normal towards you again, everyone was moving forward.
Well, not everyone.
Rick has made several attempts just to get you to glance at him, let alone speak to him. Despite him cheating on you with Jessie, you haven't seen them together since then. It seems that they broke off whatever they were.
It didn't matter though, the damage was done. The trust was broken.
You walked towards the pantry, needing to take note of the things we were running low on for the next run with Daryl.
Your footsteps slow down when you hear commotion by the pond. You see Carl and Ron a few feet apart from each other. You could tell just from their body language that things weren't alright.
You stopped, watching them for a second before deciding whether or not you should intervene. They're teenage boys, surely they can sort out their issues.
"Well your mom is a homewrecker!" Carl shouts at Ron. "She knew my dad and Y/N were in a relationship!"
Ron scoffs, raising an eyebrow at Carl. "It's not her fault your dad is a cheating pig! He chose to cheat on Y/N, sorry my mom's better."
Before you knew it, Carl was lunging himself at Ron. "Take it back, you little shit!" The two boys began to roll around in the grass, wrestling one another.
You ran towards them, other people stopping to witness the commotion.
"Y/N, is the best thing that's ever happened to my dad." Carl grunted, landing a punch to Ron's face.
"Carl!" You shout once you reach the boys. You pull on his shoulder, trying to tug him off of Ron. "Get off of him, Carl." You urge.
Much to your dismay, the boys continue to pull at each other, both trying to land a punch.
"What the hell-" You hear the all too familiar southern accent from behind you. You look around and see a small group of people gathered around. Jessie comes bursting through the wall of people, seeing her son on the ground with a black eye.
Rick manages to pull Carl off of Ron, pushes him back. You grab onto Carl, checking him over to see his bruises that were already forming.
"Do one of you want to tell me what the hell is going on?" Rick shouts at the two teenagers.
Both of the boys glare at each other, neither one of them saying anything. Rick glances around the area, "Nothing to see here." He shoots everyone a look. Everyone scatters except Jessie, who pulls her son off the ground.
"Carl?" He angles his head to his son once the crowd disperses.
Carl scoffs, rolling his eyes.
"Don't you roll your eyes at me, son." Rick clenches his jaw. "You think this is acceptable be-"
Carl stops him before he can finish. "Oh save it, dad! Everything was fine. Everything was great! But you decided to cheat on Y/N and then everything went to shit!" Carl snaps.
“Carl-“
“No! Y/N left and now we’re all feeling emptiness! I’m feeling it, Judith is feeling it- You’re feeling it.”
"You want to talk about acceptable behavior?” Carl scoffs, nodding his head up at his dad. “Check yourself first." He shakes his head before walking away.
You stand there awkwardly. Rick glances at you as if to ask for an explanation. You cock an eyebrow at him and shrug your shoulders.
Carl has a point.
“He’s a smart kid,” You say smugly before heading away.
“Look, Y/N-“ you could hear Rick’s footsteps follow shortly behind you. His hand latched onto your elbow softly, halting you in your spot. “Can we talk… please.”
There was a desperation in his voice that you haven’t heard before. His eyes stared at you deeply, dark bags had formed beneath his eyes and the wrinkles on his face seemed deeper.
“I don’t really think there’s anything to talk about, Rick.” You shake your head at him.
His frown deepens. “There is, there’s so much we need to talk about. I- I need to say things. Explain myself-“
You raise an eyebrow at the scuffed up man in front of you. “Explain yourself? There’s nothing you can say that will justify you cheating on me.” Your voice raises slightly, causing the few surrounding people to glance at you two.
“Y/N, please. Can we just talk?” He glances around. “Somewhere private?”
You sigh deeply, glancing around the audience around you. “Fine.”
You turn on your heels, heading towards the house. Rick followed closely behind you, you could practically feel his breathe on your neck.
Carl was on the living room floor with Judith, playing with some blocks and dolls. His eyes lock on yours when you open the door, a smile spreads on his face before disappearing when he sees Rick step in behind me.
The father and son lock eyes before Rick nods his head towards the stairs. Carl rolls his eyes before pushing himself off the ground and stomping towards the stairs.
“Carl-“ Rick glares at the boy. You put your hands up to stop him.
“I’ll go talk to him,” you shush Rick quickly before following Carl up the stairs. He was on his bed, a comic book opened in his hand.
“Hey, you.” You smile at Carl as you knock on the door frame.
Carl sighs deeply when he sees you. “I’m not going to apologize for hitting, Ron.” He mumbles.
You laugh, head tilting backwards. “Oh, please. I wouldn’t want you to. The little shit deserved it.” You smile at him, stepping into his room. You sat at the end of his bed.
“Are you okay?” You ask.
Carl frowns, shutting the comic book and tossing it to the side.
“I miss you. We miss you.” He says. “It’s different without you. Judith doesn’t sleep through the night anymore, dad can’t cook for shit. The house is a mess, there’s no order.” He ranted on.
“Things between me and dad have been hard. He knows I’m angry with him and so there’s this weird tension between us.” He sighs.
You bite your bottom lip, hearing the frustration and tiredness in Carls voice.
“Do you think I should give him a second chance?” You ask Carl, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Honestly? No. He doesn’t deserve it. He doesn’t deserve you.” Carl shakes his head. “You shouldn’t be with something that makes you question their loyalty.”
“You know, no matter what happens with me and your dad… Our relationship will never change. I’ll always be here for you, Carl. No matter what.” You reach out, placing your hand on top of his to give it a good squeeze.
“Thank you for sticking up for me to the little brat.” You smile, lightening the mood. Carl gives you a smile, nodding his head.
“I guess I better get downstairs. Just wanted to make sure you’re okay. And hey, cut your dad some slack… what he did to me was wrong, but that’s an issue for me and your dad.”
Carl nods his head in defeat as you walk towards the door.
“Hey, Y/N.” You stop, turning back at the teenager.
“I meant what I said. He doesn’t deserve you.”
You give him a tight lip smile and nod your head before heading downstairs. You could hear Judith’s cries from the top of the stairs. Your heart instantly breaks at the sound.
Rick’s in the middle of the living room, bouncing Judith in his arms in an attempt to soothe her. Her cries seemed to get louder as soon as she saw you walking down the stairs.
Her cries turned into screams as she thrashed in Ricks arms.
“Ma!!” She cried, reaching for you. “Ma-maaa,” she screams between cries. Rick looks at you desperately as you approach the pair.
You reach for the toddler, your hands grazing Rick’s at the hand off. The screams instantly subsides once she’s in your arms. She hiccups as she clutches onto you.
Rick sighs and falls onto the couch. You sit at the opposite end of the couch, Judith lets her head rest on your chest, trying to calm down.
“Carl said she hasn’t been sleeping well,” You break the silence between you.
Ricks eyes squeeze shit as he pinches the bridge of his nose. “None of us have since you left,” he mumbles.
Your heart breaks a little at the thought. You don’t say anything after that, not really sure what to say. Rick shifts his body towards you and you really take in his current appearance.
He looked tired.
“I know I messed up,” he starts. “I know there’s nothing I can do to change what I did. But I want to fix this- I want to fix us.” The desperation stays in his voice.
“This past month has been absolute hell, without you. I’ve been- I’ve been miserable.”
Good.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for hurting you, I’m so sorry for ruining us. Please just let me make it right. Please give us another shot, Y/N.”
The way he was looking at you right now was almost enough to make you crack.
Almost.
"I can't," I said quietly. The room fell still. Silence enveloped us in a suffocating hug.
"I'm sorry, Rick. I can't." I repeated. I felt tears well up in my eyes, saying it out loud.
It's taken an entire month for me to even be able to look Rick in the eyes. I was a few begs away from giving in and taking him back.
He doesn't deserve you.
Carls words rang in your mind.
"I think you and I both know the end of our relationship began as soon as we stepped into this place." You frowned. "Whether you meant for it to happen or not, you allowed this place- Jessie, to drive a wedge between us." You sigh.
"You." You lock eyes with him. "Not me." You shake your head.
"I let it go on for a while. I forced myself to just deal with a lot of the stuff. The late nights, missing dinners, forgetting dates." The memories of you waiting endlessly for Rick caused a scowl to settle on your face.
"I really wanted us to work. I loved us. I thought we were it." A small chuckle leaves your mouth. "I would've lassoed the moon for you if I could. Even though you hurt me over and over again with each lie, I wanted to stay. Because I loved you with everything I am."
Rick's jaw clenches and his eyes are moving around the room repeatedly before settling onto yours sadly.
"Loved." His voice cracked.
You gave him a tight sad smile.
"I asked Carl if I should give you another chance." You clear your throat. "He said, no."
Rick tugged his bottom lip between his teeth.
"Said you don't deserve me."
Rick chuckles with a nod. "He's a smart kid," Rick echoes what you said earlier that day.
"I really did love you, Rick." You reach over, latching his hand in yours. "I'll always care for you. For the kids. Y'all have a special place in my heart." You nod, holding Judith close to you.
"Would you believe me if I said I do love you?" Rick cocked his head to the side. "That I'll spend every day of my life loving you even if you hate me." Something in his eyes tell you that he's being 100% honest.
You squeeze his hand 3 times.
"Thank you for everything." You offer him a smile. Despite better judgement, your body leaned towards him, capturing his lips with yours for one last time.
Rick sighed deeply, taking you in for the last time.
Rick watched as you got up to put Judith to sleep. Then he watched as the love of his life walked out the door because of his stupid mistakes.
