Collecting up my Celeborn fics!

People were being weird to me about Celeborn elsewhere once again (why, whyyyyyyyyy), and this reminded me I wanted to collect up all the stories I'd written about him, so! These are a collection of Silmarillion/LOTR and Rings of Power canon (but since we don't know much about him in that yet, my headcanon TROP Celeborn is the Doriathrin prince version of his many canon backgrounds).

Softest of Tongues (Silm-LOTR) - Galadriel/Celeborn, from the First Age to the Third, canon-compliant, tagged ‘Sapir-Whorf hypothesis as metaphor for pain at the heart of your marriage’. Silmarillion and LOTR.

Fair as the Sea and the Sun (LOTR) - Galadriel/Celeborn, Galadriel takes the Ring from Frodo.

All the kinds of alive you can be (TROP) - Sauron/Galadriel/Celeborn and all component ships thereof. What if Sauron shapechanged to look like Galadriel, wouldn’t that be fun :)

Say it like the sunrise when it’s talking to the fog (LOTR) - Celeborn/Glorfindel, Celeborn/Galadriel. Glorfindel has come back from the dead a little too bright.

Starting fights on here completely unprovoked, but I’m not a fan of pathetic simp Celeborn headcanons. “Uwu he’s just a stupid little meow meow Wife Guy” NO WAY BITCH.

Literally the way that Galadriel and Celeborn get introduced they’re explicitly said to be the same height, both with heavy piercing gazes.

He acts like a ruler: he expects Haldir to report important things to him directly. He’s not meek: he criticizes Gandalf and snaps at Gimli before later apologizing. He’s practical and generous: he’s the one who asks Aragorn “yo how y’all gettin down the river” and gives him the boats the Fellowship needs.

“Galadriel only thinks he’s wise cuz she likes him” get outta here with that bullshit! She calls him wise because he is! He can’t look into the future like she can, but he can clearly spot problems the Fellowship might have and is clearly ready to help provide solutions. He stands up for the wisdom passed down by matrons as scoffed at by Boromir (no shade btw, I love Boromir a lot, but he was the one who made the “old wives’ tale” comment).

So no, I’m not here for Himbo Celeborn hcs, thank you.

EDIT: I also wanna say that I’m already in a minority of Tolkien fans generally and RoP fans specifically for liking Celeborn (and Celedriel) at all! But “uwu short wife guy with one braincell” Celeborn hcs tend to be used by other Celeborn fans as well as Celeborn resenters, so I guess I’ve just put myself into an even smaller fandom minority lol

EDIT #2: This is even pettier but he’s. Not. Blonde!! Why do people keep saying he’s blonde?! He literally has the word ‘silver’ in his name, and Tolkien says in the text that his hair is ‘silver long and bright.’ Silver. Sil-ver!

Summary: Canon-compliant. Galadriel and Celeborn over the years of the Third Age.

Sample: 

There are ways to express the difference between ‘you wanted’ and ‘I wish you wanted’ in Quenya by adding the right affix. In Sindarin you must change the sounds of the verb itself, the feeling soaking into the substance of the word. What is the lenited form of grief, he thinks. What is the right declension for a yearning without a name.

Note: I have been working on this one on and off for AGES and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It ended up being much more about language and the differences between Quenya and Sindarin than I thought it would and as a result - well, WHO KNEW that AO3 had a character limit for author's notes. Not me! But I do now.

This is also the first new LOTR fic that I have written since 2005. Pls remember next time you fear tnat an AO3 author has abandoned writing, sometimes we just go dormant for 18 years like a species of cicada.

A Spirit-Summoning Spell

To create an incense portal for summoning the ancestor spirits from the otherworld, you will need an altar complete with pictures and items to honor them. In a strongly protected circle, place lavender, cinnamon, and wormwood on the coals. Call out only to benevolent and loving ancestor spirits by saying:

Blood of my blood, you spirits of love, Come from below and from above; Entities loving who wish me well, Come to this circle when I sound the bell.

Intone a bell three times and welcome the ancestors’ spirits. Afterwards, ring the bell seven times to send them back through the portal so you can close your circle.

Al-Uzzah rules birth, death, marriage, springs, warfare, raids, grain, the Zodiac, the change of the seasons, the course of heavenly bodies, and Venus as the morning star.
