TW for Jamie saying some shitty ableist things (about himself).

Normally, Jamie happily stared at his kismesis with nary a blink every time the two were alone and the teal had his shirt off.

There was so much to enjoy looking at, after all.

He’d admired that body for sweeps before being able to hold it in his hands and call it his. He’d earned it, and he had every right to drink it in.

But as Jamie laid down on their bed, Jikiro busy brushing his hair by the room’s dresser mirror, his mind was full of completely pointless thoughts about another man entirely.

Because he’d gone full idiot, for some bloody reason. Ugh.

He slowly rolled over, his own shirt off, the only things between his skin and the bed being shorts and his godawful gray back brace as he pressed his narrow face into the sheets.

The tealblood looked over at his spade.

“What’s eating you, freckles.” The ink maker said, a bit amused.

“You wish you were eating me.” Retorted Jamie, muffled, and Jikiro only chuckled, well accustomed to the blueblood’s crude deflections from whatever was really on his mind.

“Sure.” He agreed amicably. “Now what’s up. You know I’m not gonna leave it alone.”

Jamie rolled back over, wincing slightly, but still managing to wear a bored and haughty expression.

“And yet…imagine if you did…because it is none of your business. You don’t have my nose, Jikiro.” Said the kookaburra troll, tapping his beak-like feature.

“It doesn’t suit you to try sniffing into my affairs, even though you wish it did. Flat little thing you’ve got won’t do the job at all. You’re a tanuki, not a bloodhound.”

Jikiro had made jack-off motions while his kismesis spoke, and only just now stopped.

“Yeah uhhh, no one cares, Jamie. If you don’t tell me what’s up, I’m gonna turn your hair green.”

He sniffed. “Do your worst. I can get Velour to fix it.”

“That’d put him to sleep and you know it.”

“You don’t think my darling diamond would help restore justice to my cruelly altered features for the mere price of a nap?” Grinned the highblood.

“Dunno, but it’s not him on your mind right now, is it?”

Jamie’s expression turned sour. “It really isn’t important. I mean it. This isn’t…it’s not like what all just happened.” He said with a sigh. “I promise.”

Explaining the events of the Civitrecce blackout to his irate spade had been torture. Torture Jamie had very reluctantly conceded he somewhat deserved, given how Process had betrayed him.

Jikiro’s eyebrows raised.

“Okay. Why isn’t it important?”

He pinched his nose, and reached for his glasses to put back on. New ones, with cerulean-teal cusp rims.

“It is entirely a piece of fluff and nonsense.” The kookaburra troll snapped. “Something to be mastered and defied. I’m not handing you something new to make fun of when it won’t even be a wisp of a question soon enough.”

Jikiro snorted.

“You are not subtle sometimes, Mr. Smart Guy. Okay, who is it now?”

Jamie went rigid, then sighed deeply.

“It’s not…not even really like that.” His thin fingers tapped idly on the sheets. “I only want to get to know him better, it's nothing serious. But he’s so pure, honestly, I feel bad even thinking of it. He doesn’t seem interested in that kind of thing at all…makes it easier, so I’m grateful. Even if he was…”

Jamie looked at the ceiling of his hiveblock, with its slowly shifting constellations on a screen.

“We both know you’re the only man who’d ever want me. That is that. End of story. Not even; a brief newspaper column.” He said, with a slight chuckle.

Jikiro gave him a deadpan, mildly annoyed look.

“You a mind reader too now, dumbass? Or are you just ignoring all your own bullshit.”

The engineer rolled his eyes, deciding he had to give up some information for a higher cause, even though it pained him.

“Jiji. You’ve seen him. It’s Helios. Ashe’s receptionist. Among other things.”

Jikiro paused, then laughed. “Shit, I should’ve guessed. He could definitely break you in two. Nice face, too.”

Jamie shook his head, annoyed.

“I won’t pretend that’s not why he first caught my eye, but it’s not like that. For one thing: obviously too handsome. For another: he’s just…nice. Interesting. Very calm and put together. He’s a good friend.” The kookaburra troll said, determined, his gaze now hard and resolute.

“And I intend to never ruin another friendship ever again.”

The midblood paused, finally pulling a shirt back on.

“Damn. You’re serious.”

Jamie’s ears flicked, annoyed.

“Of course I am. Aside from the very clear reasons he would never…I would never. No, not because he’s a brownblood. Because he is nice, and I am not.” Snorted Jamie.

“The more he gets to know me, the more he will see that…hopefully he will want to stay friends, but I won’t expect it. Unwise to.” He said, tapping his pointy chin.

Jikiro snorted. “Well, at least you aren’t panicking and trying to sabotage yourself.”

The kookaburra troll blinked. “Why would I? As I said: it’s nothing deep or important. Consider it already done with.” He said, waving a dismissive hand.

Jikiro hid a smile as he turned back around. “So you feel bad thinking about him that way, huh?”

The smaller man flushed blue, ears flicking up and down. “It wouldn’t feel right! He’s my friend. Like I said. Remarkably pure. He isn’t even my type, really. I’m just temporarily insane, for whatever annoying reason.”

“Bullshit.” Said Jikiro cheerfully, and Jamie crawled to the edge of the bed to throw a pen at him. It bounced off his kismesis’s wide belly and fell to the floor.

“It is not! You know what I like.”

“I know what you tell yourself you like. Neither Velour or I are that. Vil is and the two of you would sooner eat glass than kiss.”

Jamie pretended to gag at the very thought. “Never before has a man that pretty been so completely unappealing to me in that regard. Truly, he deserves the highest accolades.”

Jikiro laughed and turned around again, going over to ruffle his kismesis’s curly hair. Jamie grumbled, but let it happen as (with some effort) he pushed himself up into a sitting position.

“I’m not saying you have to do anything. Shit, you could be right that he wouldn’t be interested, I don’t know him well enough to say.”

The blueblood rolled his eyes. “I’m obviously right, Jiji. Again: you’ve seen him. Why, oh why, would I make a complete fool of myself trying to court a man who looks like that? Do I seem in a hurry to suffer?”

“Only when I’ve got you against the wall.” Said Jikiro, grinning wickedly as Jamie groaned, knowing full well he should’ve thought before he’d spoken.

“But you also never know.” Said Jikiro, continuing to grin as Jamie swatted him. “Maybe the big, buff brownblood has a thing for little freckly nerds.”

Jamie punched his spade in the belly, and Jikiro gave a mild ‘oof’.

“Absolutely not. I’ve no idea what he likes, but that’s just stupid. This isn’t a badly written novel. My job is ‘friend who matchmakes’, and I’m bloody good at it.” He said with a sniff.

“Why’s that so stupid?” Said the tanuki troll with a gentleness his kismesis hated more than anything, his lips curling back as his ears went back.

“You know. You know. I’m not going to say it when we both know perfectly damn well.”

Jikiro looked at Jamie evenly, teal and black eyes into two furious shades of blue.

“Nah. I want you to say it.”

“Do you?” Hissed the smaller man, his sclera tinted orange. “Fine! Because smart, handsome men do not have a drop of interest in ugly little cripples who wobble like a wriggler’s block tower and are in pain all the fucking time!”

He took a breath, panting, then jabbed at the air as he continued, pointing at the midblood to underline his words.

“None of them. Except. You. That’s it. That’s all. The end. Can we drop this before I start breaking things or hurting myself? Or both! I’m quite the multitasker.”

Jamie shook, and he hated that he did, hated how his body always, always betrayed him.

At least Jikiro only sighed and did not try to comfort him.

“I just…I don’t want you to feel this way forever, Jamie.”

“Oh boo hoo.” He snapped, clutching the bed to steady his limbs. “I’m not crying over myself, so why should you? I have you and Velour. I have friends again. It doesn’t even matter.”

The midblood didn’t argue. Thankfully.

“Additionally.” He said, voice deceptively light for how sharp it remained. “You think he’d want all this baggage? Damaged goods, Jiji. I’m not doing that to someone I truly like.”

Jikiro snorted.

“Trying to make me feel awkward or guilty won’t work, you stupid fuck.”

“Oh, I’m well aware.” Murmured the kookaburra troll. “I don’t want your guilt anyway, and trying to make you feel awkward would be a feat worthy of the labors of Hercules.”

The ink maker couldn’t help letting out a grudging chuckle, despite the situation. “You asshole. How dare you make me laugh right now.”

“I do dare.” Said the blueblood cheekily. “It’s very funny.”

“Bastard.” Said Jikiro, shaking his head.

“Please, call me His Glorious Bastard Genius Jamie Abnale the - “

“Shut the fuck up.” Interjected Jikiro, and kissed him.

They continued that way for a while, and Jikiro didn’t raise the topic again.

Jamie did his best to forget about it.

Just like he always had.

bigass vent over general life things

things in general are really not great i don't really have any optimism for the future or making a life for myself. like i don't really have any drive or ambition to look forward or work towards anything good/meaningful because as time goes on there are going to be really bad life events that i just don't think i can keep facing anymore. and theyre going to be worse. i'm just dragging along life solely on the basis that i was plopped here to just Exist and that's my task at hand that i'm reluctantly upholding. just exist until it's over

#when i say 'i'm 25' 'i'm going to be 26' it does not feel right coming out of my mouth. i do not feel just 25 or 26 i feel far far older #mentally and physically #when i'm around other people my age i just feel on a completely different plane of experience from everyone else #idk. i've always been a naturally anxious and socially stunted person & def have some kind of lingering trauma that keeps me from connectin #w people. but also having no family members or relatives anywhere near my age (~17 yrs older than me at the least) while i was growning up #probably did something to me as well. my entire life has just been witnessing family members decline and die like dominoes over the course #of 25 years. like i know all about end of life care and legal paperwork and shit like that. i know what grief is like and #seeing how it affects people. i know the stages of dread and worry and numbness & guilt-ridden relief that comes with being terrified 24/7 #for an ailing family member over the course of years. knowing what it's like to grieve people who arent dead yet but you know it's coming #and then when the inevitable happens it's horrible. but also you're so exhausted from the strain that you're mostly numb. and then you feel #a sense of relief that the worst is over they're not suffering anymore you don't have to dread it anymore. which obviously makes you #question if you're some kind of deranged asshole for feeling that way. idk #25 for me has been a very eye-opening age where i'm fully realizing how fast time passes. i thought i was at around 18-20 but i was really #just first becoming aware of it.#i know how to view the world from that lens bc that's all i know. i only see life as a preparation for the end #instead of a beginning. or at least see it as a beginning at this current point in my life #covid/lockdown has definitely been a source of mental drain on me as well. the constant fear and paranoia of getting sick AND what sort of #long term consequences i could have due to getting it twice. and what i could have if i get it more than twice #add that with the general social and political climate right now and it's just...so very bleak. home life is bleak & outside world is bleak #vent

I really need to rewatch AoE because of the cool dinobot designs, but also the creatures we see on Lockdown's ship especially the ones that remind me of Wargs — those seem to be Lockdown's hellhounds when he's focused on someone else

not me spiraling about what cosplays to make for a con that’s still more than ten months away

#cosplay #about me #2022 mood #I haven't done any non Doctor Who and non Wasteland costuming since 2015 #well besides the quickly thrown together set of four Disney Princesses for my niece's birthday in 2020 #it was the beginning of lockdown and all her birthday plans had to be cancelled so we a whole in-character Zoom call for her instead #but that was entirely just things I had in my closet/costume chest already and none of them would have passed muster at a con #but BESIDES that it's been all Wasteland costuming and Doctor Who cosplay for 7 years now #and Jack and I are talking about actually going to a good old multi-fandom convention sometime next year #we're looking very seriously at Dragon Con at the end of August but WonderCon in March is also a possibility #do I have enough costumes already completed that I could wear on extremely short notice? yes #will I still make new ones? also yes #Jack and I are kicking around a couple of ideas for couples cosplay #either something brand new for both of us or me making something to match one of his or making him something to match one of mine #or fixing up our Hitchhiker's Guide Arthur and Trillian a bit to make them even more screen-accurate #buuut I still want to do a couple of other things just for me #and in all likelihood I'll end up wanting to wear costumes when Jack doesn't feel like it #one of the (DCEU) Harley Quinn outfits is high on my list #as is the battered wedding dress from Ready Or Not #but which Harley outfit to make? I have a list of pros and cons for my top three choices lol #and if I do the Ready Or Not wedding dress which version of it is the most recognizable?#when it's freshly torn to shorten it? with just a little bit of blood splatter and missing one sleeve? or full on end-of-the-movie red?#see what I mean? spiraling #I have a sewing project on my table right now (plaid flannel shirt) but I really might start on costuming stuff in the next month or so #hmm hmm hmm #and suddenly I have the 'what should I be?' song from the Garfield Halloween Special in my head lol

#vent cw #negative cw #( i'm sorry i try not to post vent stuff too often but i desperately need to get this off my chest )#i got hit with so much stress all at one time today #covid cases are going back up again and i'm gonna cry because i already feel like i lost 2 years of my life to this stupid virus #i just want things to go back to normal #i keep seeing those reminder: the pandemic isn't over yet posts and it feels like a punch in the gut to me #i know who they're for but honestly. do posts like that really help?#i think the people posts like that are directed towards would just see it and scoff #meanwhile people like me are hit with another reminder that everything is still horrible and nothing's getting better #and even if they DO get better it doesn't last #my mom kept us on 2020-level lockdowns throughout this whole thing and was JUST starting to let us do normal stuff again and now this.#i don't want to go back to that #i want to live #i don't want to lose another year of my life #be cautious of course but i can't just shut myself down completely for this long #my mental health can't take it #i also have had a massive relapse of an unrelated worry that i don't want to directly say because i feel like i'll speak it into existence #i don't. really believe that's a thing that can happen but it's an irrational fear with this worry specifically #and it's infuriating because it's not one that i can easily dismiss in a week or two #this one has lasted for months and is likely to keep nagging at me for the foreseeable future #i just want to not be stressed #that's literally it #i don't know what to do

do NOT go through old photos from 2020 when u are dumb as fuck like me and take anywhere from 6.5k to 30k photos a year. you WILL waste so much time. DONT FALL FOR THE TRAP!!!!

#for the record my peak photos in a year (at least since i backed up my gallery to google photos +#and started fresh) was just over 30k in 2020 and thats Not including like jan fab & early march (i coincidentally cleared my gallery +#pretty much just before lockdown iirc)#it gets a little less every year though like 2021 was JUST under 25k #2022 was a crazy improvement (just over 10k)#and 2023 looks nuts in comparison (6.5k)#but if im being completely honest? i think thats only because i was pretty much exclusively online on my phone in 2021 and ESPECIALLY 2021 #i think it was 2022 ish when i started almost always using desktop and 2023 i used my phone a lot less #late last year i started just using my phons (and my ipad! which i didnt Have back then) p much all the time again #so if i had to guess. if i keep going like this my photos count is gonna be ridiculous again this year #but to add on to this (LAST PART I PROMISE)#i do still save a stupid amount of images to my computer #but when you take screenshots on windows. unlike on ios it doesnt just save a file to your gallery #it just copies a screenshot to your clipboard (which i normally paste in a priv discord server)#so that gets rid of half of all my screenshots #the other half i use the snipping tool for. Which also uses the clipboard. i think you see my logic here #ok thats all i had to say. sorry i think i am a massive nerd about really unimportant numbers :3 #muffin mumbles

So a bit of background first for our international followers: Clive Palmer is one of Australia's many mining billionaires who like to meddle in our country's politics, and as such he is utterly despised by all of Australia.

Picture for context:

He is most commonly known online by the title "Fatty McFuckhead", (problematic as it may be) because he tried to sue a youtuber for $500,000 for calling him that - and he lost. So the name stuck.

Up until his most recent foray into parliament, the legally certified Fuckhead was best known for his batshit business ventures, such as attempting to build "The Titanic 2" (failed) and trying to build a dinosaur theme park (also failed, but at least nobody got eaten by a T-Rex in this one).

For a very long time Clive played the role of sugar daddy to Australia's largest conservative party, the ironically named Liberal Party, until they had a falling out in 2012 after Clive claimed there was too much money influencing politics (lol), at which point he started his own party, days after saying he totally quit and wasn't fired and he only left because he didn't want to be a distraction.

His initial run at parliament was actually kinda successful, with Palmer's group winning 4 seats, plus a member from the "Motoring Enthusiasts Party" joined them too after accidentally getting elected and not knowing what the fuck to do.

Despite this initial success however, Palmer's party (which ran on basically no platform other than "I'm rich") hit an iceberg (titanic 2 achieved) and seven elected state and federal politicians quit within the first year.

By the time the next federal election rolled around, only one Palmer party candidate was still running for re-election. The most successful of this group - Jaquie Lambie - quit to sit as an independant and is still in parliament today.

Anyway, we're getting to the point: which is the yellow posters. By the 2016 election, just two years after forming, the party was in complete freefall. It won just 0.01% of the vote at their second election, and it was announced shortly after that Clive was quitting politics and the party was being shut down. Australia breathed a sigh of relief.

It was, of course, short lived.

Clive, in desperate need of attention, restarted the party for the 2019 election, fielding candidates in every seat and spending $60 million in advertising in an attempt to win votes.

Every single candidate lost.

It was in this campaign however that Australia really started to fall out of love with Palmer, because most of that $60 million went towards putting up the world's least compelling marketing billboards on almost every single free space in the country.

For a good six months this was basically the only thing you would see in Australia if you went outside:

Clearly Graphic design is his passion. And yes, the genius did just straight up try and copy Trump's homework while changing a few words, hoping nobody would notice.

Very quickly these all got vandalised and it seemed the ad companies didn't care enough to replace them.

We could go on posting examples, there are thousands, but the best is definitely the one Ikea put up shortly after Clive lost the election:

In 2022, Clive's party contested the election AGAIN, this time also opting to send millions on spam text messages to every person in Australia begging for people to vote for him, as well as buying almost every youtube ad for a year, at the cost of $100 million.

He won a whopping one seat.

During this election Clive ran on an anti-lockdown, anti-vax platform with the slogan "freedom, freedom, freedom". That message, however, was slightly undermined when his goons, dressed in 'Freedom!' shirts, made national news for trying to beat up a protester who turned up at a rally dressed as an annoying text message, shouting "pay your workers" at Clive.

As if that wasn't bad enough, at another rally Clive knocked himself unconscious while trying to jump up on stage, and then a few weeks later was rushed to hospital with covid, while his anti-vax ads were still in regular rotation on TV, at which point it was also leaked to the press that Palmer had been alledgedly trying to buy Hitler's car.

Utterly humiliated, the party deregistered again shortly after the election.

Can't wait until he runs again in 2025.

I love weird acting shit I love how weird theatre people are sometimes (in the good ways not the people who are like…. Eccentric but in catty and bitchy and unpleasant ways) but in terms of the “I’m doing weird shit to Connect to my character and Understand them” like Everything going on with the Greta Gerwig Barbie movie.

I only act small-time/for fun but I’m definitely guilty of weird “this is my process” shit or strangely pretentious/weird sounding stories but like if you get it, you GET it, you understand why I say “one time I was playing a challenging character and I ran into the theatre the week before tech to share with my director the revelation that holy fuck my character was a DOG person that’s integral to who they are and I Understood now” and it’s so batshit crazy but the weird backstory I fleshed out for her outside the context of the script finally helped me understand how to play her.

Actors and directors are so weird on professional or amateur levels alike and I kind of love some of the crazy shit they do to make their craft work.

#if you believe in method acting shit that’s outright harmful to yourself or others fuck that completely and no thank you #but things like ‘oh my god my character would own a big black lab and they aren’t afraid to take up space in a way that I don’t’ that’s fun #and again you fucking know directors are crazy too they have to be a little bit bc I said this to my director and he didn’t bat an eye #he completely got where I was coming from and I think realized oh my god I think she’s got it #cool dude like for weeks I was like no this isn’t right it’s not clicking and he was like well yeah she’s like completely opposite you #as a person #so of course it’s hard but you’ll figure it out I know that #good shit #cape town rambles #anyway that production was set to open the week that p much everything closed for Covid lockdown #and I’m glad we chose safety over the show but man I would love to get to do it again and do it for real. it’s the last real show I was in
