I just. I can begin again, and I will. I'm even a relatively quick seamstress, when properly motivated. It feels like such a herculean task, though, especially for things that can't be gotten easily or cheaply again- colorful silks the discount fabric store no longer carries, my stash of antique and specialty reproduction trims, certain buttons or accessories...

I feel like I'm staring up a mountain I have to somehow climb all over again, after reaching a peak and then falling back to the bottom

#ask #anon #just remembered my stash of garment-weight black wool #haven't seen that at the fabric store in ages #and the blood-red silk I'd just made a ball gown out of for my birthday in April #after socking it away for 6 years in expectation of the Perfect Project #I was going to make a day bodice to go with the skirt #the antique black lace motherlode I'd just hit at a flea market the week before the fire #I was planning to put sheer sleeves on my summer tops for better sun protection without sunscreen. fill in some too-low necklines #round and elliptical hoop skirts.wired bustle petticoat. bustle pad. corsets like I mentioned- two different Victorian + Regency stays #it's just. it's all so much. and it's either destroyed or rendered unsalvageable. or lost in the detritus under my old bed #or in a collapsed closet that can't be shifted to free the garments underneath
