(For anyone interested in what I was thinking when I was drawing this tune in below)

I wanted to do nanders because I pretty exclusively just do art about my player characters and their beaus otherwise. But nanders is one of those ships that I have been carrying my torch for since day one, or day 6 months in more like, with the pace I do my playthroughs in. Regardless, they were my favourite part about Awakening, and the greatest tragedy in Dragon Age is that they still haven't reunited for longer than 5 minutes in some dank darkspawn tunnel! So I set out to fix that.

I wanted to create a scene where the Amaranthine Wardens, my Mahariel and Zevran included, would go meet Anders in the middle after what happened to the Kirkwall Chantry, to keep him safe, and the team could finally get that more permanent reunion.

Due to my own headcanons the Amaranthine crew is also having a bit of an exodus, since they're in the middle of planning to go rogue from the rest of the Wardens. Oops :). All in all they're a bunch of outcasts right now, but they have each other.

And of course Nathaniel brought Pounce with them too.

“What are you smiling at?” Isabela asked as she stretched back in her chair and propped her boots up on the table.

Sigrun grinned. “You, silly.”

She arched an eyebrow. Silly was a new one. Usually, she got hussy, or whore. Also, thief and pirate. “How so?”

“All that selfishness? All that every ‘woman for herself’ talk?” Sigrun drew another card. “Right crock of nug droppings. Taking us on board gets you nothing but problems.”

“Maybe your commander rubbed off on me a little too much,” she said with a diffident smirk. “Maybe I’m just paying back a favor.” She shrugged. “Or maybe having the Ferelden Warden Commander owe me one seems worth the risk.”

“Favors from the Wardens ain’t worth much," Sigrun replied as she slipped an ace out of her sleeve.

It was sloppy work, and Isabela snorted as she slung a coin at her, smacking her thumb. "Put that back."

"Caught me," Sigrun snickered unrepentantly as she shook her hand. "Stings."

Isabela wagged a finger at her. "No cheating on my boat unless you're paying me a cut of the winnings."

"Stones, Captain, there's no point in cheating against the rest of you - Velanna barely understands Go Fish, Anders somehow plays better when he's blindfolded, and Justice always showed his hand to everyone and asked if he'd won."

"Try Fenris," she suggested, laying down her hand triumphantly.

Sigrun laughed and showed hers: royal flush that beat Isabela's full house. "Nah, I think I'll stick with you."
