Thanks for the tag @my-dumb-obsessions.  I have to admit, I generally make characters FOR fics, not just for the sake of making an OC.  So they’re generally pretty intrinsically tied into the story I’m trying to tell, which makes it a lot easier to find a song relevant to the fic rather than for the character itself.

I had a playlist for a fic on earlier while working, so I’ll pull from that.  For Nehn Lavellan (fic link), from the song Beautiful Undone, by Laura Dogett (song link)

Her story’s pretty intrinsically tied into destruction as an expression of creation, especially an expression of love.  As a person who has suffered from a history of self-harm and as ballerina who has suffered multiple injuries-- heading towards a career-ending one out of sheer stubbornness-- her emotional journey is about detaching her art, her love, from things and habits that hurt her.

That includes Solas.

In choosing to destroy her anticipated future, their relationship (as it stands), and their quite literal dreams, she finds the pieces in the rubble that can make a less painful future.  It’s about the catharsis of that destruction, and what healing can happen when we jump into the unknown...even if no one’s there to catch us.

And how sometimes, just like a plant, some things have to be cut back to thrive.

Ahoj, můžu se zeptat, jak jsi udělala stonek té konvalinkové záložky? Jsem tím zcela fascinovaná! Je to přilepené nebo jenom obmotané, nebo je to nějaká tajná technika? Díky moc :)

Je to normálně z drátku, který jsem provlíkla skrz květ a uvnitř zabezpečila omotáním kolem korálku

A samotný drátek jsem pak jenom obmotala bavlnkou. Na začátku jen přiložím konec rovně ke drátku a trochu ho omatlám lepidlem, pak začnu obmotávat přes ten samotný konec. Tím ho ještě víc zabezpečím, takže se ani nehne.

Zbytek stonku už je prostě jen omotaný a na konci je to zas chytlé trochou lepidla. Taky jsem si nebyla původně jistá, jestli to bude dost držet když to prostě jen obmotám, ale když motáš dost pevně a na husto, ani se to nepohne.

Oh dear. On the one hand, Rajag is literally the law! He's supposed to be fighting crime - that's his official job when he's not on the battlefield, since the military and the police force are one and the same in the Merfaen. But on the OTHER hand... we know our boy's getting into mischief and shenanigans left and right, don't we? XD For most likely to commit, probably vandalism or small-scale thievery (can't you just imagine him running around with spray paint, putting mustaches on judges' houses and writing dad jokes on the public bath walls?) For most likely to be arrested for... if we're being perfectly honest, probably a drunk and disorderly charge XP ;)

Vstávám pozdě, je už skoro osm než vyrazím zase šlapat. Ale dneska se to dá pochopit, byla to dlouhá a náročná noc. Jsem z toho celý unavený a rozlámaný. Ještě víc než normálně. Tak jdu dneska jen 15 mil k vodě a zbytek dojdu zítra. Zbyde mi 17 mil do města, tam si dám konečně další zero day.

Vycházím pozdě, takže je už zase hrozné horko. A dusno. Vzduch je tak hustý, že se skoro nedá dýchat. Procházím pod těmi větrnými turbínami, které jsme viděli už včera z dálky. Člověk by čekal, že teda bude foukat vítr. Ale prd, ani stéblo trávy se nehne. Je to úmorné, trmácet se v tomhle do kopce.

Vtipné je, jak s tím větrem mám takový love/hate vztah. Včera jsem ho proklínal a dneska bych za něj obětoval snad i levou ruku. Nedá se ale nic dělat, potím se jako v sauně a funím do kopce.

Voda je zase dál od sebe, klidně 8-10 mil. V tomhle horku to znamená, že musím tahat aspoň dva litry. Normálně nenosím ani jeden plný. Vždycky u zdroje se ještě předzásobím, vypiju klidně litr a půl najednou. Pak minimálně půl hodiny nemám vůbec žízeň. Dost to pomáhá.

Mířím k místu, kde dva bráchové postavili deštníky proti slunci, židličky, a hlavně sem nosí pravidelně vodu! Bez nich by tahle sekce byla ještě 100x náročnější. Musel bych tahat vodu třeba na 20 mil. Zaplať pánbůh za takové lidi. Nic za to nechtějí, ale člověk jim může dobrovolně přispět, což samozřejmě většina hikerů dělá.

Na místo dorazím už celkem brzy, kolem třetí. Svalím se do stínu a jen odpočívám. Těší mě, že dneska už nic nemusím. Čtu si knížku a jsem spoko. Zítra dojdeme do města a začnou zase klasické městské trable. Kde budeme spát? Kolik dní jídla potřebuju? Kde vyperu? Kdo mě odveze z trailu a na trail? A další a další. Ale nenechám se dneska rozhodit, to jsou starosti budoucího Hynka.

Paralyzovaná vlastním mozkem.

Volnej čas je pro mě něco, co si ráda užívám a poslední dobou si uvědomuju, jak s tím časem šeredím. Hlavně proto, že mývám manický nálady a nejradši bych dělala 10 věcí najednou, ale bohužel v dobu kdy ten čas nemám. Ale můj mozek najel před pár lety do módu, kdy mě v ten můj volný čas tak paralyzuje, že dokážu jen minimum. Většinou na něco koukám, nejlépe nějakej comfortní seriál, nebo poslouchám muziku. Víc nezvládnu. K ničemu víc se tělo nehne a můžu ho nutit a prosit sebe víc. Často kvůli tomu brečím. Často si to vyčítám.

Nevíte někdo, jak proti tomu. Jak se z toho dostat?  ... protože paradoxně bych šla něco dělat až když jsem totálně vyčerpaná a padám na držku z toho zaseknutýho stavu ve kterým jsem schopná být i dny v kuse.

i went to watch the Solmance vallaslin scenes and all their outcomes. I initially thought Dirthadin would be not only Okay with the fact theyre slavery marks, be intrigued by that historical discovery, but maybe fall into cult mentality and dive harder into it as a worshiper of Dirthamen and Falon'din, BUT in my draft he was faced with the (HC) reality that Falon'din *and* Dirthamen may have killed Mythal, and as worshiper and devotee of both, of which he changed his *name* to embody them both, he feels like he has had a hand in Mythal's continued murder, and is disgusted by the idea he bears their marks while having drank from the Well, convincing Abelas and his dying people to let him as though Falon'din encroached Mythal's territory again like before.

And immediately after, Solas adds insult to injury by telling Dirthadin theyre slave markings and offers to remove them.

He needs time and consults Abelas, who (in the fic) knew they were "slave" markings and is a melancholic, tragic figure of devotion for Mythal as are the other Sentinels. eventually Dirthadin decides to remove the Vallaslin, and asks Abelas to give him a new one symbolic of Mythal (much to Solas' displeasure). I'll play Trespasser eventually to see what else I can juice out of the plot pre and post Solas leaving, and I think Dirthadin might eventually rename himself again.

I rewatched BFU’s episode on Jack the Ripper again a few days ago and. Ryan’s attempt at pronouncing the Finnish chemist Jari Louhelainen’s last name was... interesting. For some reason, Ryan didn’t pronounce the H in the middle even if it’s at the start of a syllable. In Finnish, you pronounce each letter that’s been written down, even if it’s an H at the end or start of a syllable or vowels in a diphthong. 

Louhelainen is pronounced “LOW-heh-lie-nehn”. Emphasis on the first syllable, H as in “hotel”, E as in “egg”.
