So I like the neyeon doodle much more than the beastly one, but art hard and I can’t entirely conceptualize beastly as a normal guy, since he was made to have mutations, but um… beastly is. Cat hardware dog software, he’s mcfucking comfies!! Important for u to imagine him with the zoomies and nobody gets hurt about it. He’s so fucking sillies!!! Head empty! Not a thing behind those eyes!!! Just love!!! Probably annoys his lusus but he’s soooo cute so it’s fine :P

Neyeon on the other hand um. Is less fortunate. Ethann pt 2 but like fr. They don’t develop as many visible mutations as desired, so. The doc kind of works on trying to see which ones didn’t fully develop and if they could be made to function anyhow. Like the separate jaw bones but one lower lip, that gets. Rectified. Neyeon is Unhappy about this and is in the Grumpy club with Ethann abt it. Is a little sillies w their siblings tho :3 tries to cheer them up where they can bc like. It’s not their fault they’re experiments! …They don’t get to do field trips like beastly tho. They’re actively hostile to the scientists. They’d slowly have more of their animal traits showing over time, but it’s a slow process, and by the time that gets noticed, they’re already in a (more) experimental category.

the show is almost exactly the same but pugsley helped wednesday unleash the piranhas, gets expelled too and goes to nevermore with wednesday. he loves it there and does super well like immediately. he joins the like Evil Wrestling or Axe Throwing Team or whatever. he joins the mad science club. he and eugene are besties.

the whole series he’s acting as the watson to wednesday’s sherlock but like, in a mean way. in like a “you’re my sister so i’m going to bug you bc it’s funny” way. watsons tend to be the everyman asking obvious questions for the sake of the audience but pugsley is doing it not bc he’s slower than her but to either Annoy wednesday or because HE thought of the answer/evidence/other pov but SHE didn’t and he’s rubbing it in. still get the same effect for the sake of the audience following the mystery but with more gleeful sniggering while eating chips and his sister tries to kill him with her mind than these characters usually get.

#we didn’t declaw cats at my clinic #my boss refused to perform them and I asked about it during the interview process #wasn’t about to be complicit in that shit #once she did a declaw revision surgery because the vet who did the declaw botched it and the cat had loose fragments of bone in her paws #she was a really pissed off cat because she was in pain constantly from the declaw she had as a kitten #so the surgery was to remove all the bone pieces in hopes that it would make existing less painful for the cat #I’ll never forget seeing the little pieces of bone on the counter after the surgery #she lived like that for over 10 years #her mom had rescued her and was a phenomenal owner #after the cat had recovered from the surgery she had noticeable behavior improvements #long story short declawing is evil and torture

With all the shit JKR has risen about feminism and what it means to be a woman, I’m always reminded of a metaphor I was taught by the amazing feminist philosophy lecturer back in university. This was back in 2017 (quoted from lecture notes I saved) way before terfs started getting traction, but it rings true today more than ever. 

“In feminism philosophies there are three types of philosopher: the individualist, the radical, and the socialist. 

Here’s a metaphor for how they work, called ‘The Wall, The Lion, the Sheep’. 

The wall represents society, particularly capitalist patriarchal society. The lion represents men, the sheep represents women. 

The wall cages both the lion and the sheep, which makes the lion angry because he wants to be free, but with no one else to attack, he attacks the sheep, the sheep dealing with both the caging of the wall and the force of the lion. 

The individualist feminist sees that the issue is the sheep and suggests “It’s the sheep’s fault for getting in the way of the lion” most them saying “That’s just nature/life!” or at ‘best’ suggesting “Move the sheep out of the way”. That may work in the short term, but the lion is still there, and he can move more freely; he will just attack the sheep again. The individual feminist says that any women suffering the abuse of men or the patriarchy should make their way out on their own, doing minimal effort to help, even blaming the woman for ‘doing this to herself’, falling into the easy solution of solving a problem by victim blaming. 

The radical feminist sees that the issue is the lion and suggests “Declaw the lion and take out his teeth.” That may stop the sheep being harmed in the short and long term, but now the lion is suffering. Radical feminists say that men are the issue and seek their punishment, “an eye for an eye”, not realising that they are ‘othering’ men in the same way women have been ‘othered’. Radical feminists see anything related to men as evil; they don’t see a trans woman as a woman, only as a lion in sheep’s clothing, nor do they see a trans man as a man, only as a misled sheep. They overlook the truth that not all men hate women; lions don’t eat everything that crosses their path. 

The socialist feminist sees that the problem is the wall and suggests “Break the wall down.” The lion is free and runs away to be free, as does the sheep. The problem is solved for both the sheep and the lion. A socialist feminist recognises that the harshest societies have moulded us to be the oppressed ways we all are, and the most effective way to help women is to help everyone; tear it up from the roots. With the oppressive system broken, not only will women have more freedom from patriarchal tyranny, but men will be freed from the toxic masculinity that comes with those systems. Everyone is happy. To be a true feminist is working to destroy an oppressive system to truly help women and all those who are othered by capitalist patriarchy, and anything that allows men to escape the enforced repression of the patriarchy is a great bonus. 

The biggest issue that holds back true feminists is this: walls are harder to break when they keep getting rebuilt by the ones who are so stubborn that the problem is the lion or the sheep. To them, using the oppressive forces of a closed wall gets them what they want, which is to be right, rather than to actually solve the problem.”

JKR is now using the transphobic tory party, currently in charge of the UK government, so further restrict trans voices; a radical feminist that seeks to use the bricks of this current Wall to make sure she is heard, oblivious and probably careless to the fact she’s deafening the voices of other feminists who will now probably feel ashamed to say they’re feminists... 

Feminism is not just helping women, it’s helping those marginalised, those oppressed for who they are, those othered by a system that wishes to box the un-boxable. Feminism is just the name of another movement to help as many people as possible. 

I am non-binary, and I’m a feminist, and the opinion of one close-minded author isn’t going to change that.

I AM the asshole: years ago I had a roommate who adopted a kitten *without warning or asking me* and then proceeded to be a shit terrible parent. gone all the time just leaving the kitten with a full bowl of food for the weekend and hoping for the best, had the audacity to get upset with me for going in their room to clean out the overflowing litterbox, left dirty dishes all over their bedroom floor where the kitten could eat their leftovers. it had a terrible, very visible ear mite infestation that went on for MONTHS because they couldn't ever be bothered to take it back to the vet after getting it declawed.

I didn't even like or want the cat but it was so poorly socialized and so obviously needed someone to care about it that I ended up spending a lot of time keeping it alive and halfway functional.

anyway, fast forward to when my roommate is getting ready to move out. I know this animal is going to be miserable if they take it, so one day like a month before move out I hid the cat at a friend's house and staged a crime scene to make it look like it had gotten out the apartment on its own. lied my ass off about it for the entire rest of the time we lived together, went out to help look for the cat multiple times knowing damn well it's in my buddy's guest room.

I still have the cat, who is dumb as a brick, healthy as a horse, and the love of my life. sleeping next to me snoring as I type this 💕

A common trend I have noticed in media which aims to humanize monsters, is that it often relies on passivity. Humanity is contingent upon kindness. The monster that is A Person only so long as they are a harmless thing at heart, something which can be understood and befriended. Their violence is reluctant, their hearts noble. Grace is a concession to the dominated. Only the toothless beast, declawed and pinioned and caged, is one which has earned its personhood. The ontological enemy supersedes the ontological man.

Omg what would Roman be like on Bad Succession

ohhh boy..

overall i think it would be very inconsistent how taken seriously he is. He’d confess that humour is a coping mechanism, w/ a flashback depicting how it all started in childhood when he invented entertaining stories about where his bruises came from, or smth similarly on the nose. But despite this, in most episodes, he’d be reduced to a comic relief character. (The show would NOT be self-aware about this.) His purpose would be to inject fun into the bland dynamic of the Brooding Male Protagonist (ken) and the No Nonsense Girlboss (shiv). But his dialogue would be declawed. No incest jokes. He’d have, like, marvel movie one-liners and flirt with attractive age appropriate peers.

Literally all nuance and ambiguity would be removed from his sexuality. It would be a cut-and-dry internalized homophobia thing. He wouldn’t understand his discomfort with heterosexual sex until, during management training, he would be free to spread his wings away from his Evil Dad and explore his attraction to men. He’d have a secret relationship with Brian, and Normal Gay Sex would ✨fix him✨. He’d realize Love Is Love and there’s nothing wrong with him !!! :)

At one point in season 3, to appeal to his father, he would softly say the price of milk, and Logan would pause, and with growing confidence Roman would list the prices of various other grocery items, and because of Roman’s newfound humility, Logan would feel connected to his son and they would bond. Gerri would exclusively be a caring mentor figure, and Roman would explain that she’s like the mother he never had. Roman would have a one-season arc where Mencken (who he’d have NO sexual tension with btw) indoctrinates him down the alt-right pipeline (that’s how it would be framed lmao), but Shiv would manage to deradicalize him, like “Roman, look at me, this isn’t you”, and they’d save the election with the power of love. There’d be like a million flashbacks to his child self behind the bars of the dog cage.

I was wondering- with the clans more advanced nature and ability to deal with more serious conditions, how would a clan deal with a cat who had been declawed? Would they try and change some things to make things like hunting more accessible for that cat, and if so, what would they do? Would they use something like a clawed gauntlet or claw implants?

Being declawed is a very serious disability for a Clan cat to have. "Accommodation" for a cat that is declawed is completely concerned with reducing the serious pain that this procedure would put them in; there is almost no way to help make hunting more accessible.

Just to repeat that; Declawing is a disability for a Clan cat. I'll be treating it as such.

I'm gonna be using a medical diagram below the cut to show you the problem!! So TW: DECLAWING IS A FINGER AMPUTATION, please do not hit "read more" if seeing anatomy and hearing of a cat in pain would upset you!

"Declawing" means removing a weight-bearing bone from the foot of the animal. The final digit of the finger is meant to be in-contact with the ground. For a crude analogy, imagine if someone removed a bone from your foot and made you walk on your tibia and heel-meat.

So from the VERY offset, a declawed cat in the wild would not be able to patrol very far without pain. In addition, they don't have a way to "grab" things anymore. Bringing this cat on a hunting patrol would be unhelpful at best and actively destructive at worst. They can't hunt, not enough to "pull their weight".

Gloves don't fix this, and there is no claw to put an extender on. BB!Cats have slightly beefier hand anatomy than irl cats, but they only have TWO digits. Declawing reduces them to just one.

Quick drawing;

A declawed paw is not a hand that can hold a struggling animal; they don't even have the digit to make a good pincer grasp. Hunting is so hard it's nearly impossible.

For the cat's health, so they can enjoy their Clan's territory as is their right, they might want to make "shoes," or, crude booties. Unlike humans, cats don't have a "wrist" that a glove can easily rest on, so shoes would need to be tied to the leg.

This could be made out of leather or flax, with some sort of sole for padding. This is an accessibility device, though, so keep in mind this is something you'd need a craftsman like BB!Jessy for.

So generally, a declawed cat is the type that spends a lot of time in camp! With a little extra time, it's possible to modify the tools that Kitchen Patrol uses for this individual. A spoon's handle can be curled so it rests on the wrist. Instead of skinning an animal with claws, they could fasten a knife to the paw.

So, if the cat enjoys helping out around camp, there's still ways that they can contribute if they would like to.

And lastly, Clan cats think this is the ultimate symbol of human cruelty. Sharpening one's claws (karrurrska) is EXTREMELY important to the mental health of a cat. It feels good, it exercises your whole arm to get up there and sccrrraaaatch, there's tendons, bones, and scent glands on that final digit.

Hearing that a kittypet has been declawed is evil to Clan cats. Beyond mwyrgna. The cuckoo kills its kin to get more food from its parents, the rat kills its young out of fear. What purpose could humans possibly have to mutilate a cat like this, besides delight in seeing them suffer?

It's the kind of concept that would invoke a lot of emotion out of Clan cats.
