Vergil x Reader who stares a lot headcannons

-Being an observant guy, Vergil quickly noticed that you were staring at him, but brushed it off as you simply being curious about him, which was understandable--he was a son of Sparda.

-Your gaze was piercing; it seemed to blast right through his skin and deep down into his flesh--no, beyond that--into his soul. He wasn't certain of how you possessed the ability to stare so predatorily, and wasn't sure if he wanted to find out.

-Over time, he noticed that your staring wasn't just curious nor intent, it was like you were observing him; analyzing and spying on him for some reason. Why? What did you want form him?

-He started getting a little uncomfortable, thinking that perhaps you were plotting something devious.

-Eventually, he decided to ask you directly abut it, hoping his intimidating presence would get you to tell him the truth.

-It worked; you were terrified of the way he was glaring at you so you nervously, hastily, and shakily confessed that you simply like looking at him.

-It took him a full 5 minutes to realize what that meant. Once the thought settled in, he nearly fainted. You liked looking at him? Why? You thought he was handsome? Him? Vergil Sparda, the son of Sparda, was considered handsome? By you? Why?!

-He had absolutely no idea what to say to that so he stomped away, stiff as a board.

-From that point onward, the issue was never spoken of again; you continued staring at Vergil's face, taking in every feature, and he remained sitting there, stoically allowing you to observe his every move.

-He honestly didn't mind it--the silent attention was appreciated.

-Occasionally, when the two of you are seated in the same room and no one but you is looking, he will reach up and smooth his hair back, very slowly and sensually, keeping eye contact with you the entire time.

-Just don't tell anyone why you're doing it and Vergil will let you stare at him until your eyes water, and might even stare back with his icy blue ones.

V sleeps with stuffed animals . . .

A friend asked me a few days ago to draw some of his favorite characters with some of my Headcanons (or do shitpost) and among them was V I don't know enough about DMC but V has ever given me sleeping with stuffed animals vibes, so I did this much text to explain it.

AND YOU ASK: WHY IS HATSUNE MIKU HERE? Well, this friend and I played L4D2 with mods, he was Nero and I was Miku. We ended up making a story contextualizing what was happening and ship them because it sounded funny, so now if I have to draw something about DMC my brain can't stop thinking that Miku is there, somewhere.

+Many would think that Dante would be good around cats, well i beg to differ-

+The moment he saw the cat in your lap grabbing all of your attention and mocking him with its big mischievous eyes it signalled the beginning of a war

+He wanted a kiss from you? No, the cat was in the middle, cuddles maybe? Nope, cat was already sleeping in your lap, Dante had to take matters into his own hands

+So like every sane person would do he simply became as clingy as the cat

+He is literally stuck on you with every chance that he gets

+Are you cooking? Arms around your waist- Are you reading a book? He would make sure to scootch the cat away and get in your lap

+this went as far as arguing with the cat itself

+There is a cat in the house? Vergil would simply not care, as long as it is not bothering him he is fine

+He does appreciate the fact that unlike dogs it is not all over him all the time

+At the beginning he felt annoyed every time the cat gave him attention, attention from you alone was enough a cat was an extra he didn't sign up for

+However as time passed he slowly warmed up to it, he would read his book the cat nuzzled in his lap, and drink his tea while petting it

+And of course, you were more than happy to see that they liked each other (in the back of your mind you thought they would murder each other)

+But there was one thing that annoyed him the most

+"Danteeee where are you hiding?"

+"Why the hell would you name the cat Dante-"

Nero Sparda

+That boy may seem annoyed at the beginning with your decision to adopt a cat but in the end he loved it as much as you

+At the beginning he would not give it much attention just a small pet if it came close to him

+As time went on like vergil he would get accustomed to it

+I have Nero more like a dog guy rather than a cat guy so he is never gonna be fully melting over the cat, but that doesnt mean he won't love it

+After coming home from a long mission he would long for cuddles with both you and the cat but of course he wouldn't say it out loud

"Do you want the kitty to cuddle you Nerooooo?;)"

"Oh shut up-"

V

+In general V is used to being around animals due to his familiars, so a cat would not change things that much for him

+It would be very entertaining watching his familiars react to the cat and especially Griffon

+The phrase i will feed you to the cat was especially present every time Griffon would start getting annoying

+Shadow and the cat would definately be the best cuddle buddies

+Sitting on the couch all together reading books was a must now with the cat and the familiars being your personal heaters.

"Let me go grab a blanket-"

Vergil Headcanon

Decided to write a headcanon of Vergil from Devil May Cry. I absolutely love devil may cry, and I definitely love Vergil as well, so I hope you enjoy this! This is my first time writing for Vergil and it's kind of a experiment sort of Fanfiction so i get the hang of write Vergil if that makes sense?

Anyway enjoy!

Vergil had finally came back from the underworld and was finally free from Mundus powers,

And might I add is looking younger than his identical twin brother (Dante you look good for your age)

Vergil was busy looking through the library wondering what to pick out for his readings

I mean he already has a complete poetry of William Blake in his hand, but wanted another book as he is a fast reader

As just then a woman who looks to be struggling to carry the monstrous amount of books walked pasted Vergil to which peak his interest at the woman

She then tripped over her own feet as books fly out of her hand

She closed her eyes and waited to fall down and hurt herself once again (yes this isn't the first time today)

But she didn't as she slowly opened her eyes and as Vergil held her gently in his arms as the books laid all across the ground of the library

Regaining composer she quickly scrambled out of Vergil grasp as he just as quickly backed a away a inch from her,

"Thank you, for saving me from that fall, Mister" as she glanced over to what Vergil was holding onto in his hand

"William Blake, I love his work, I seen a couple of his work and wanted to get a copy of his complete work but well I'm very busy"

Vergil couldn't help but softly smile at how cute the woman was

She introduced herself to Vergil as he did two, as she explained that his mother must've got his name from Dante's inferno

It was then began endless hours of talking together about books and all things classic literature

She quickly glance at her phone and realised she was at work and need to pack the books

To which to her surprise Vergil offered to help

And she was saved being told off by her boss, again for the third time today

As her shift was nearing its end, Vergil gave her the complete collection of William Blake

"But I thought you want to read it?" To which he shook his head "I think I still have a copy of it at home"

As he walked out mumbling to himself "that's if Dante didn't decide to it on me"

As the woman stood there looking at the book Vergil gave smiling, hoping to see him again soon

💜we all know for a fact that if Dante had a GF/BF, he would absolutely adore them and call them all kinds of cheesy cute pet names~ but his absolute, close to heart secret pet name for them that he calls them when they’re not around is “My Humanity.” because they literally are his strength and weakness

💜Vergil absolutely dislike being alone for long duration of time, even if he puts up a front and is grumpy about being around people, he is almost always nearby if even around the corner. He NEEDS the noise

💜Trish will never admit this but there was one time Dante was insanely drunk, younger darker years in life here mind you (with at least a year or two after the events of DMC1), she agreed to be “mother” for the night and just hold the sobbing mess while he cried himself to sleep. (Dante has no memory of this, he got SERIOUSLY drunk)

💜Lady gives herself pep talks in the mirror, and it’s the kind of “you got this baby, work that ass!” kind of pep talk that if anyone hears they would either have been punched (Dante) or reluctantly bribed to secrecy (Nero)

💜Speaking of Nero, man’s an absolute SOFTY for cute little nicknames from his S/O, even if they call him “pookie” as a joke he will scratch his nose and go “n-not here.” but secretly he loves it. Go ahead, call him your little sunshine, he’ll melt.

💜You will instantly become Nico’s favorite if you bring her some kind of obscure spicy snack, 10x effectiveness if it’s some kind of candy she can snack on while working on breakers to “bring out the creative flavor hidden within.”

💜Going back in time, when Credo was alive and not in the high position was in, he had a small crush on this village girl and would always leave out a small flower on his desk for her to take. Always wondered what happened to her after he was promoted to his long standing position he is in now. Won’t talk about her though.

💜If you ask ANY of the DMC members to dance with you, expect mixed results. (In ✨)

✨Vergil won’t dance but oh hey wow his Doppleganger is just GROOVING so hard with you.

✨Dante just beans and absolutely does a little shuffle dance with you, had you asked him this when he was “younger” he’d be dancing way harder (he secretly likes to watch you move).

✨Nero is the most awkward about it but will warm up in no time at all, happy rocking out and jabbing with you like nobody’s watching! Watch out :3c

✨Lady’s flattered and May do a little shimmy with you, but she’s awkward about it and it somehow adds to her badassary charm.

✨Trish won’t dance, but she’ll watch and clap along to the show. May do so with some persistence on your end

✨May god have mercy upon your soul the moment you ask Nico to dance, you will be going at it for hours or until Kyrie peaks in and kindly asks is going on. Congrats, you now have two dance partners!

• Dante and Lady dated for a brief period when they were 20~ish for a month but they soon broke up, Dante realised he was Aromantic and Lady realised she was a lesbian. It was really awkward and they don't talk about it.

• (also Demisexual Vergil fight me)

• Nero's the type of guy to crush a can of cola in his hand when he's angry

• He would never actively admit it, but Vergil instantly bonded to Nero, even if Nero himself didn't bond with Vergil. It's probably to do with some weird demon biology thing, as Vergil tries to show He cares in odd ways like offering to clean Nero's weapons (making sure the demon spawn can protect itself) or staring at him from across the room (monitoring the demon spawn to assure its survival). It freaks Nero out as he doesnt know what's going on.

• Nico plays pranks on Nero and Kyrie that border on being illegal

• Trish and Vergil kind of have an unspoken bond/connection (?). Like demon to demon communication especially after the V and Trish talk

• Vergil moved into Devil May Cry without asking Dante after dmc5 and claimed a couch and a portion of the office as his. Dante won't admit that he doesn't mind.

• Also about vergil, When Patty came to Devil May Cry after the events of dmc5, she yelled at Dante for an hour for missing her birthday among other things. Vergil thought it was hilarious but he stayed quiet the whole time as usual.

• Nero roughhouses with the kids at the orphanage, and he always tries to stay gentle, but those kids man... they're out for blood. One time Nero ended up with a huge gash over his eyebrow that surprisingly left a scar.

+ plus scent choices!!!

• Lady likes Versace perfume or light floral scents. Don't know how to explain this one

• Trish likes deeper, more musky scents. For example Kyoto in Bloom by glasshouse fragrances (my signature scent lol). She also smells of this hair oil my mum uses. Very nice ^^

• Vergil likes cool, crisp scents, but not very masculine ones. More androgynous or feminine. Otherwise he smells like old books, like the old sci-fi books my dad gave me

• Nero likes cheap cologne, anything to cover up the blood smell that seems to hang around as to not scare the kids

• Kyrie likes either light, sweet scents or deep, stormy scents. She tends to lean to more deep scents.

• Dante smells like pizza grease and Lynx Africa All the time (go argue with a wall) but if he had to choose he would probably smell like roses or something with sandalwood. Heavy scents.

Cursed—

This man does not know how to do anything on his own outside of fighting.

Dishes? Puts soap in the cast iron pan. Cuts himself on a knife immediately, which is extremely ironic. Somehow gets water e v e r y w h e r e.

Cooking? Burns water. Reads "2 cups" of sugar instead of "2/3 cup". Accidentally set fire to the microwave while cooking an egg.

Making the bed? Immediately gets wrapped and tangled in the fitted sheet like Frodo after Shelob was finished with him.

Also, the man was trapped in the underworld for 20+ years. He cannot possibly smell good. He'd constantly smell like blood and sweat.

Heaven help you when he discovers "What Does The Fox Say?" He'll play it on repeat for literal hours on end AND sing every single word.

He's absolutely crazy about kittens, and will randomly bring 20 of them home one day. "But they were so small and soft. You could not possibly expect me to just leave them there. Foolish boy/girl."

He absolutely does not understand flirting or innuendos (yes, I know V does). "Hey, handsome. Every other seat is taken. Do you mind if I sit there?" *points to his lap* "I very much mind. Here- just take my seat instead."

Has constant resting bitch face that you'll just have to deal with.

Blessed—

As I've said many times before, this man will love and protect you til his very last breath. He knows how it feels to be hurt and abandoned, and he swears to never let you feel it from him.

He says absolutely not when you bring it up, but deep down he would adore a baby that he could watch grow up.

He frequently has nightmares due to his horrible past, so he pulls you closer to him in his sleep and holds you tightly all night as his whimpering slowly subsides.

One of his favorite activities is just sitting beside you as he quietly reads his book and sips a cup of hot tea, enjoying the closeness between you two.

He loves kissing your forehead, especially if you're shorter than him. It makes him feel strong and even makes him smile.

He'll never admit it, but he loves when you call him 'pretty boy'. He'll huff and look away from you, scowling, but he's really only try to hide the blush creeping up on his pale cheeks.

He especially likes it if you and Nero become close, since neither one of them grew up with much of a family.

The Intricacies of Demon Culture

(or a bunch of loosely based on DMC Canon headcannons and theories, take your pick)

Demons come in many different flavors, and the word 'demon' is essentially the same thing as saying 'rectangle; it is a broad category with smaller subsections within it.

Devils are inherently smarter and more powerful demons. The main way one can tell the difference between a lesser demon and a devil is the capability to speak a human language; devils often wish to at least interact with (kill) a human in their lifetime, so they go out of their way to be able to communicate. This is not always true, but it works as a good rule of thumb.

There are also artificial demons, but their classification is a little bit more broad then you would think. There are demon-made demons (Trish, Nightmare) and human-made demons (Lucia, all of the antagonists from DMC4) in this category, but this category also includes demons that do not naturally exist. Malphas is actually in this category due to her being a fusion of two separate demons (which was shown in Nico's notes)

Human blood is seen almost as a drug, as it gives demons power. However, non-devils tend to go crazy from too much, almost like an overdose. It is an issue in the demon world.

There are two main types of groups in demon culture: Family groups and Political groups.

Family groups function like extended families, with a priority on continuing the family line. Demons like Empusa fall into this category, with their priority on collecting blood and serving the queen, who furthers the line.

Political groups are when different species or multiple families group together for some reason. Mundus' army is a great example of this, but another great example are the Cerberus devils. They are referred to as a 'tribe' not a pack, so there must be multiple families within said tribe. The existence of a King Cerberus also implies some sort of political hierarchy, most likely based on power and age.

There are also groups of demons who merge these two categories, where different species co-exist in a family setting. The Cerberus tribe is another example of this, as KC refers to the Cerberus from 3 as 'kin' despite them looking nothing alike.

The Spardas are officially option 3 due to their already mixed heritage and the amount of different 'beings' they hang out with. Two artificial demons, 3 full blooded humans, the descendent of a demon summoner, and Kyrie, who Nero would say deserves her own category.

Everything with demons is physical. They disagree you? Be ready for a fight. They hate you? Be prepare for them to kill you. They do like you? They are still gonna fight you, but at least they aren't actively trying to take off limbs.

Sibling demons are known to fight constantly, both to shown superiority, and, in more close-knit demon families, to help each other become stronger.

(post-DMC5, by roughly ten months)

Vergil's S/O-

you've been outwardly calm, and internally screaming

you were actually V's S/O

V told you about the whole situation just after he told Trish

the qliphoth was the first time you met Vergil, but he looked at you adoringly, just like V did

he softly assured you they'd be back, and leapt into the underworld within seconds of ending his bout with nero, leaving you scrambling to understand what was happening

you've been working to distract yourself from the fact that he's gone, and the fear he may not come back

you never really got to meet him, and he might be gone for good

it hurts

you hate it

the crew have noticed

you dont sleep well, you wont eat much, you're irritable and distracted

10 months later you are very close to giving up hope

youre on a job and suddenly both twins are just... there?

it throws you off balance and if it weren't for them covering you, things would've gone very poorly

you finish destroying the portal and the stragglers

you stop and actually see him for the first time

you don't remember moving, but you blink and you're across the room, crying, face shoved into his chest, clinging to him for dear life

he stiffens and then slowly returns the embrace

it takes a minute for you to get your breath back

you recognize pieces of the poet you knew, enough to gently tease him

"You're late, and in a lot of trouble," he winces apologetically

"but goddamn did I miss you."

that earns a small smile

("And I, you, my dove.")

Dante's S/O-

you're pissed, at first. mainly because before the Vergil fight you told him not to do anything ridiculously stupid.

mans had 1 job: he failed

after about 5 weeks, you start getting a little worried

the tree is mostly gone, so they must have succeeded in taking out the roots

the longer that goes by the more you think about something Nero said when he told the crew what happened

that they never said they had a plan to get back, in fact he seemed to think they may not be able to get back out of the underworld

the whole arcane research thing is not typically your go to for dealing with demons

why bother when hitting them with a sword is more effective

but without yamato, portals are hard to create, and even harder to control

you spend months running down any option you can think of to at least get to or from the demon world

it takes another 8 1/2 months to finally find something that you think might work

it doesn't

then after passing out, upset and exhausted, you startle awake at the sounds of the doors flying open

you must still be dreaming, because that looks like your devil

who's trapped in hell

right?

cue a dante patented stupid joke to diffuse tension

you quite literally vault over the desk into his arms and just feel that hes back

*hug*"I'm so happy you're back!"

and exactly 4 seconds later

*hitting him repeatedly* "Never fucking do that again!"

Bonus Nero's Reaction-

he's super fucking pissed off

ah yes lets leave the kid (with severe familial abandonment issues) suddenly without his family

remains fairly angry when the topic of either twin is brought up

but the longer that goes by, the more anger becomes distress, and eventually resignation

concerned, but unsure how to help Vergil's S/O

very bothered by the 'empty look' when he does jobs with VS/O

confused, exasperated, but not surprised at Dante's S/O's actions

a little tiny bit scared of the non-stop manic energy DS/O is embodying

first time seeing the twins back, he has way to many emotions to deal with so defaults to anger

likely throws down with either/both

the rage burns hot and fast this time, so the fight is messy and short

basically ends in him storming off and giving them the cold shoulder until someone makes the first move

Random headcanons : Despite what their color might suggest, Nero's spectral arms/wings are actually warm. He can use them to keep warm, like a "second jacket". And he can ruffle up his feathers like a real bird. And the feathers are very fluffy 👀 I KNOW he can "stab" and hurt enemies with them but let's just say that he reinforces them with demonic energy or some shit when he does that

I just-- Okay so I have nowhere else to put this thought but I need to tell someone.

In DMC 4 Dante has those leg gaiters on--and in DMC 5 he no longer has them. He replaces them with those fucking hot-ass belted boots. Which, on a side note, I don't fully understand wtf the point of the belts is besides aesthetics Anyways... Now let's look at Vergil: In DMC 3/4 he has his knee-high boots. In DMC 5, he has leg gaiters.

So like... What if somehow during the events of DMC 4 (which, if I understand correctly, Vergil's still very "dead" during) Vergil saw Dante's leg gaiters... and like, thought they were cool or Vergil liked them; so when he came back in DMC 5, he had them on. On another side note, I'm not sure how Vergil's clothing works; however, I figure it's similar to Trish's where he can just manifest them???

I don't know lol. The idea of Vergil seeing his little brother's boots and going "I can do better" or something stupid makes me feel all fuzzy inside... It's fucking cute, okay?

I'm sure this probably contradicts the cannon story somehow; even though the storyline is like beyond confusing with its continuity. That or it's already explained somehow.
