by the way Arceus is a superior game because I can walk around as a feminine man. I have my cutesy outfit with bows on it and long pink hair and hot pink short shorts and gogo boots. that fucking rules. all open world games should let me do this without mods

Random customization things that I have been thinking of, that I doubt the devs may ever do, but I am in love with the idea of.
♡ I would absolutely love to be able to manually pick what ink color your character appears as to others in the plaza, if that makes sense.
Maybe even go as far as to include all past Splatfest colors (regardless of what team you actually chose) (including Splatoon 1+2 fests?), or even more custom colors, to pick from. If a sneak peek is happening for a current Splatfest you could also show off your choice's color. Just for fun as this is only cosmetic. Even *more* of a pipe dream is if you could even optionally pick a custom *fade* color for this, too.
Of course *at least* the main color would be temporarily overridden *during* Splatfests to the color team you chose, but maybe your custom *fade* color can still show during fests?
♡ I would love soooo much if you could layer multiple pieces of headgear. NOT to have the abilities of both of course, but like a Youtuber [who's name is escaping me] proposed- you would pick ONE to use the abilities of, and the other is solely cosmetic.
♡ Another fun idea they would probably never do but I would love- you know how in the Saint's Row series, certain articles of clothing have different options of how they're worn, such as being able to wear a jacket open OR buttoned?
Yeah, that. Give some gear a little toggle to switch between two (or more?) ways of wearing it- Sleeves down or rolled up, coats open or closed, caps turned forward or backward (or sideways?). Earrings worn just on the left ear, just on the right ear, or on both. Shoes with socks or without, etc. IF such a thing ever happened in the first place, it would probably be nuts to expect it to be given retroactively to any currently existing gear- so even just giving it to some new gear moving forward would be cool as hell.
♡ I would looove for a lot of the outfits shown in the art book to be put in game. I love that star-shaped mask so much. If it was put in-game [and stays yellow all the time] I wanna come up with a Killerman (Illbleed, not the 2019 movie) themed outfit.
♡ I kinda want temporary aliases to be possible outside of Private Battles? I'm sure there's good reasons it's not available elsewhere, but maybe they could make it work by making it even more obvious at a glance what your actual name is? Because I assume the only issues would be with recognizability, right?
There's lots of reasons this could be cool, including but not limited to meme teams and people who like to cosplay/RP in-game. Or you could change your name to "finger" as a joke *without* getting stuck being Squid Named Finger for a whole month like that one person did.

Pc Games With Character Creation Offline

Games With Character Customization Pc
Steam Games With Character Creation
One of the things I love most in a RPG (Role-Playing Game) is the possibility of creating my own character with tons of different options and add-ons. I made a research yesterday and found some interesting PC Games I already knew about, adding them to the titles I have or plan to get with the best Character Customization. I’m going to list them here for you guys also attaching a few videos so that you can see directly how they work and what kind of possibilities they offer.
It’s the main reason I enjoy games like Skyrim and Fallout. But there seem to be so few good (single player) games with decent character creation - and not just picking from a few presets. The character creation in Dragon Age: inquisition was amazing (although I struggled to enjoy the game) as well as Saints Row (which I really enjoyed). Addicting Offline Co-op Games For PC You’ll Want To Play. Dennis Patrick / Features / Best Co-op PC Games, Co-op, Cooperative. Sonic the Hedgehog is a staple video game character. Best MMORPG with Character Creation. Final Fantasy 14 has one of the most complex and sophisticated character editors. In this game, you can change the smallest details using different sliders, pick a unique voice, or add unique tattoos, accessories and facial paint. What Are Best RPGs With Character Creation? Role-playing games let us live out some of our greatest fantasies like slaying dragons, saving the world and owning a house. Whether your main character is dead, alive, or somewhere in between, these games will let you adjust your appearance and abilities to however you see fit. I've always loved games that give you the option to create your character before you start in the world. I enjoy the game even more when it has role playing or social aspects added to it, allowing you interact with NPCs, or other players if the game has a multiplayer feature. Just character creation would interest me enough to check any game out.
Follow me under the cut if you’re curious!
I’ve been introduced to this type of creation with a game I still keep in my heart and consider one of the best of all times; The Sims 2. Seriously, I’ve created so many 3D characters that if I could win an award I’d have 200 on my shelf by now.
With that said, here you are my personal list of PC games with their awesome customization in no particular order:
I tried this game myself (the free beta that is) a few times in the past and I swear the CC included in it is currently one of my favorite. Without the complete pack I probably didn’t have a lot of additional options available in terms of clothes, makeup and hair, but what truly mesmerized me at the time was the shaping tool, not yet common in games when they released EVE. You can grab and drag different parts of the head and body, modeling unique characters every time.
Tumblr media
2. Black Desert Online
This game has been released recently with two different packages and it seems to be quite a popular MMORPG (Massive(ly) Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) in Russia and Korea. I’m not surprised considering the quality this game seems to have and its customization is clearly no less. Just like EVE Online, Black Desert offers a good sculpt instrument to shape faces and bodies as much as you like, plus a beautiful variety of colors and combinations.
UPDATE: The game is also available on Steam!
This patch lets you play Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks with mostly non-touch based controls. The new control bindings are Control Bindings: D-Pad=Run Y+Dpad=Walk B=Wide slash B+Dpad=Long slash Y+B=Spin Attack A=Interact A+Dpad=Roll. Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks D-Pad Patch This patch implements non-touchscreen controls for essential actions in Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. Legend of zelda spirit tracks xenophobia patched rom.
3. Blade&Soul
This is another Asian MMORPG with the classical ‘Anime’ style, you cannot freely reshape the character’s structure, only pick one of the available presets and play around with the sliders to modify the whole body. Andy mckinney molly hatchet. Still, I honestly like the bright colors, the races/classes and the fact that you can actually recreate other existing characters using additional content (just like this guy did with Cloud from Final Fantasy VII).
4. BLESS Online
Yes, another Asian online title. Hey, it’s not my fault if they look so pretty! Bless is quite recent and not yet released in its final stage, but judging by how the CC works you have as much freedom as in EVE or Black Desert and the same unmistakable Fantasy touch.
5. The Sims 4
Didn’t I mention The Sims 2? Well, looks like the latest title in the series has improved quite a lot in this area. The shaping/sculpting method is here as well, considering that we finally have more possibilities I certainly won’t complain!
Note: In this video I can see the woman has a few mods installed. If you decide to get this game (or even the previous chapters) I definitely suggest you to do the same if you don’t like the default character design.
6. Fallout 4
Another recent (and quite famous) game. Apparently you can only work on the face here, but once again we see the sculpt tool in action. Even if the hair options are a bit limited you can still customize your character and create unique features playing around with your cursor.
7. Dragon Age: Inquisition
Who knows me is well aware of the fact that I am completely OBSESSED with this game, thus I couldn’t really leave it out. The hair options are definitely questionable and just like in Fallout 4 you do not have any body morph nor slider to alter, but as you can see from this video example you are still able to personalize your Inquisitor in a good way, also using real people or other characters as reference. To be honest I like some of the default presets too, if you don’t like spending two hours working on a face (I do that all the time, but I am a basket case so please ignore my madness :P), you can pick those and get a good result nonetheless.
And don’t forget about mods! 😉
8. Skyrim (The Elder Scrolls V)
This one has been around for a very long time and it remains probably the top 1 Fantasy game out there. If you’re not into mods at all and want to keep your game vanilla be sure that the overall quality is not as improved as the current generation, you can see that from the low-res hair and general textures. The reason why I’m including this CC in the list anyway is because even if old, Skyrim looks quite good compared to other games where you only get 3/4 slider options.
9. APB Reloaded
The last game I’d like to mention (and I literally just discovered it) is this not so new title which has a kick-ass Character Creator. Not only it shows some quality graphics there, but the level of customization is unbelievable! You can make hair shorter, beards longer, create beautiful tattoos (and place or rotate them wherever you want!), add patterns to clothes and even get your personal car! 😀

There are of course many other games with a Character Creator, but they all seem pretty similar or not good enough to be mentioned in my list.
What do you think about these? Let me know with a comment if you like!
Those late-night multiplayer sessions can be really fun sometimes. Surely, everything is better with friends, they say and you’ll agree with that at some point. However, after a long day of work and studying, I like to relax with offline games. Sometimes, it’s satisfying to let yourself indulge in a great single-player story and forget about any problems bothering you. So, if you are like me, then welcome to the club! Below is my list of 20 best offline games for PC and I hope you’ll enjoy them.
1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
W2k16 pc download. Well, you’ve guessed it! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes first place on the list with its epic setting, characters, gameplay, and those breathtaking visuals! It’s a compelling game that will offer you more than a hundred hours of non-filler gameplay, and there’s always something to explore. The game looks amazing, and the combat system is great. This open-world title is everything you need on your free days! Combine that with the great RPG elements and fun dialogues with NPCs, and you got yourself a pretty good offline game! Go and play it now, it’s a must-play.
2. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus
Wolfenstein series has been once again revived with Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The positive reviews flashed all around the globe, and this game quickly became one of the best shooting games of 2017. B.J Blazkowicz is such a badass protagonist and the characters surrounding the game are interesting. You’ll quickly start to care about each and every one of them, making this game a worthy offline title. Bethesda said that they won’t be focusing on multiplayer, so they can bring an immersive single-player experience. Well, you nailed it, Bethesda; great job!
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Bethesda is one of my favorite companies when it comes to gaming, at least they were a few years back. A few years back, this masterpiece called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released and it took the Earth by storm! This offline open-world title offers hundreds of hours of exploration and you’ll probably never get bored of it! The combat system might be dated, but it’s damn fun to play and explore every corner of the game. After six years since its release, I’m still eager to give Skyrim another go. It’s that great!
4. Fallout 4
Games With Character Customization Pc
Fallout 4 is one of those top offline games that you either like or dislike. It’s a great single-player experience, as you explore a huge world of fictional city Commonwealth. I mean, the story here is scattered here and there, and our protagonist is in search of his abducted son. However, the game often steers away from that and let you have some freedom and exploration. It’s a fantastic reboot of the series, and it’s surely the best game in the franchise. If you are up for that Stalker-ish feeling, then give this a try!
5. Hitman (2016)
Hitman isn’t a strictly offline game, but I included it because it has a great single-player campaign. While the previous entry in the series Hitman: Absolution relied more on linear, claustrophobic, and confined experience, Hitman (2016) went in a different direction. Here, you’ll experience a vast, open-world with lots of stuff to do. The levels are not that numerous, but they are as big as hell! You can complete your missions in various ways and earn certain rewards and points for doing so. Hitman is a challenging stealth experience, but once Agent 47crawls under your skin, there’s no going back!
Steam Games With Character Creation
6. Nioh
Nioh is a less-known offline game released this year, and I feel like this game is very underrated. It’s a child of Dark Souls and Bloodborne series, which can tell you much about this game. It has a single, crushing, and unforgiving difficulty that will leave you begging for mercy. It’s hard, and you’ll need some blazing fast reflexes and huge gaming skills to finish it. There are more than twenty bosses in the game, and every single boss will kick your ass! Don’t expect to finish this game in a few days; you’ll need weeks to finish it and it will be painfully slow as the bosses shame you every little time… you helpless gamer!
7. Nier: Automata
Another underrated game – Nier: Automata. How could the gaming community overlook this game? Are you blind, or what? This game offers thirty hours of a pure, refined, and amazing experience! It’s a hack-and-slash title that mergers several genres with it. The open world in this game is huge, and the post-apocalyptic environment looks depressing and feels like a void. Nier also introduces RPG elements so you can now level yourself up, upgrade weapons, buy stuff, etc. On top of that, there are some 2D sections that feel like a great platformer, and that’ very unique! Nier: Automata is better than most AAA titles and costs double the less of that price, which is one more reason to get it.
8. Dark Souls 3
Dark Souls series got a fantastic reboot with Dark Souls 3. Just if it wasn’t enough for the previous games in the series, and now we got this punishing game. What can I say? Prepare to die a LOT in this game, as it’s created to kill you. I’m not joking, the whole game is against you, and you can’t do anything about that except fight like a lunatic. Even when you die, the enemies around you respawn and you must fight again and again, which is really frustrating. However, if you have the balls to play it, and manage to finish it, then you deserve a medal, Sir!
9. Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite is the newest installment in the Bioshock series. This cheap game can give you a huge value for your buck, especially when the Holidays come. I mean, for just a couple of bucks, you can get a fantastic FPS game, which campaign isn’t short and definitely isn’t boring! Bioshock Infinite continues its tradition with great shooting mechanics, various powerups, and that fast-paced shooting in a beautiful environment of the game. Get ready to cause mayhem!
10. Alien: Isolation
Alien: Isolation is that PC offline game that will haunt your dreams every time you try to sleep. It’s a horror game in which you try to stay in one piece and escape that damn space station called Sevastopol. Sounds similar? Well, that’s because the game is based on Alien (1979) movie, which was a very disturbing experience at the time. It’s an intense game that makes your palms sweat and your heart beating so fast that you’ll think it’s gonna come out of your chest! Try this horror if you dare, and watch yourself getting swallowed by the Alien, in a single bite!
11. Far Cry Primal
Elephants are cool, but mammoths are so badass! In Far Cry Primal, you can hunt mammoths and even ride them when you get to higher levels! How cool are you from zero to riding a mammoth? This beautiful-looking game is set 10,000 years BC and no, you aren’t going to shoot guns, but bash the hell out of your enemies. The arsenal of weapons might not be that huge, but the combat is great and requires more thinking, as the enemies are sometimes overwhelming and can easily kill you. If you have the luck to tame a sabertooth tiger, you may survive in this harsh world!
12. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
There is something special about that claustrophobic feeling, especially when it comes to horror games that you can play without internet. That sense of dread and despair when you don’t have much space to move is priceless. Don’t think of me as a psycho, but I LOVE the horror genre! RE7: Biohazard is a game that caught my attention as soon as it was released. This bad boy will provide you with a horrific experience that will leave you scared to death! As the game plays from the first-person perspective, it’s much easier to get yourself immersed, but also scared.
13. Outlast 2
Outlast 2 is yet another offline horror experience, where the developers decided to leave your powerless. There aren’t weapons for you to use, and surely no means to defend yourself. So, what are you left with? Well, a camera and a journal should do the trick! The game does a damn fine job of melding the horror and the dread with stealth and great storytelling. In the end, you may feel a little let down by the ending, but I know you’ll enjoy it until the very end.
14. Dead Space 3
Tumblr media
Cat et 2015a factory password generator. While the past games in the series focused more on that horror experience, Dead Space 3 is more of an action-horror game. Sure, there are Necromorphs and they are vicious and all, but the action part is more prominent. Needless to say that Dead Space 3 is an amazing game and I’m very sad that Visceral Games is closed by EA in October. This survival horror game is hugely underrated, but it’s awesome and I recommend you to play it. It’s just a couple of bucks for this experience, don’t be a niggard!
15. Portal 2
There’s something awesome when it comes to Source Engine. The games made with this engine looks amazing, yet they run smoothly. How did Valve manage to do that? Well, as I am not a game developer, don’t ask me! But ask me about Portal 2, which is Valve’s magnum opus, and a compelling puzzle game. The whole point of the game is to use a Portal gun in order to create portals and pass through them. However, the game isn’t that simple and requires some brain skill to finish it. Grab your Portal Gun, and let’s go on a venture!
16. Limbo
This 2D game is straight-up terrifying, dark, and misanthropic from the start to finish! In Limbo, you are a little boy that needs to survive this colorless world of the game as he overcomes various obstacles and escape scary monsters. I like the game’s artwork and the atmosphere is simply top-notch here if you like the dark ambient in the games. It’s a must-play for every offline Indie games lover!
17. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
Speaking of the atmosphere, very few great offline games can replicate the atmosphere as it is in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. That post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Pripyat looks great, and the game isn’t colorful, which is the whole point. Everything has that grey-ish tint, as this town suffered greatly when the Nuclear Powerplant in that area exploded. It’s based on a real-life event that occurred around 1989, which gives the game a certain weight and meaning.
18. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
With MGSV: The Phantom Pain, Hideo Kojima proved that he still has what it takes to create such immersive PC games without internet. This stealth game is challenging and full of stuff to do, due to its open-world nature. The characters are badass and the game feels somewhat dark, with a very serious tone. Oh, and not to forget that plot twist at the end that’s worth those thirty hours I’ve spent on this game!
19. SOMA
Horror fans will be pleased that I mentioned another horror title here. SOMA is an absolutely spooky and nerve-wracking experience! It creates that atmosphere that’s very unique, and with the story being told in the shape of various documents scattered through the game, it’s even more badass! You are all alone here and you’ll fight for your life, only to find out that you aren’t actually alive! A truly wonderful offline game for Windows.
20. Superhot
Superhot is a cartoonish-looking offline game that revolves around time. To make it simple, the time in the game moves when you move, so if you are standing still, nothing will happen. Vice Versa, if you are moving and shooting, then the enemies will do the same. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of challenges too. I played it with some of my favorite death metal albums, just to ensure that I’m hardcore enough to beat it!
Tumblr media
As we are approaching near the end of our journey through the offline PC games, I’m here to ask you a question. What is your favorite offline game for PC? I tried my best to count some of my favorite offline games, and although I’m maybe going to start a war for not including some of the games, I stand behind my words. Oh, and why don’t you tell me what game did I miss? Do you have any favorites besides these 20 games? Please, let me know, and don’t forget to do some gaming today!

Cyberpunk 2077 non-spoiler review
Anyways here’s my writeup about my least favorite parts of 2077 for people who are interested in seeing if it’s for them. Both going to talk about content as well as gameplay. This is for PC version, too, because I know last gen consoles are suffering terribly rn and I wouldn’t recommend the game if you’re not going to be playing on PC. At least not until it’s on sale or the issues have been resolved. It really, really shouldn’t have been released on last gen consoles at all in my opinion - or at least should’ve been released on consoles LATER.
If you like Saints Row, GTA, Mass Effect, Shadowrun, or the Cyberpunk genre in general - I definitely think this is something you might want to take a peek at! I wasn’t anticipating the game until about a month or two before release - so maybe that’s why I’m having a blast - but It’s one of my favorite stories from the past decade as far as sci-fi goes. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it, and It’s really impressed me. I can’t even go into detail about all the things I LOVE because I really want folks to experience it themselves. Just know there’s a very intricately detailed world, all the characters are memorable and insanely well realized and complex, and the story is great fun. Also made me cry like 5 times. It’s become one of my FAVORITE games very quickly.
I’d also recommend Neon Arcade if you want someone who’s been covering the game for quite a while, including the technical and game industry aspect. He does well to go into some detail and even though he’s a fan, I’ve found him to be largely unbiased. I’m not going to go into industry politics here because I feel that’s up for everyone to decide on their own terms.
No spoilers, things to keep in mind, content warnings, etc. below!
CONTENT WARNINGS and issues with plot/story
this setting is dark. very dark. if you struggle stomaching things like dystopian landscapes, body horror, physical, mental and sexual abuse, corporate and gang violence, abuse of children, harsh language, and concepts that mess with the perception of reality - this game might not be for you. It’s a very mature setting, and I don’t mean that in the Adult Swim kind of way. I mean it in the ‘oh shit, it went there’ way. In my opinion I haven’t run across anything in it that was handled distastefully when it dipped into the depressing, but dark and gritty isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I wanted to give a disclaimer.
The game’s universe in advertising and working for the lower class also exploits sex/sex work quite a bit. This is part of the lore itself because in this universe everyone’s become desensitized to sex and violence to the point that marketing embraces it and makes it ridiculous. I feel it’s very obvious that it doesn’t condone this message and is instead a commentary on consumerism - but people still might be uncomfortable seeing a lot of suggestive stuff all over the place regardless.
Women in game are naked more often than men - even though there is nudity for both. This is likely a mix of appealing to the Gamer Boy demographic (even though the story does NOT actually), or the fact that media is way more cool with seeing naked women than seeing full frontal nudity on men. They probably had to tone some of it down to avoid going above an M rating.
The story is amazing, but sometimes it dumps a lot onto you at once. It’s one of those sci-fi stories that you have to really be following the names, faces, and concepts continually to get it all down. There’s a lot of betrayal, background players, etc. I think by the mid-way point I’d mostly had it, but It’s pretty dense. However it’s still amazing. You might just need two playthroughs before every tiny detail clicks - because there’s a LOT of details.
Honestly I think it would help to read up on the lore first so you’re not going ‘what’ constantly. But people have seemed to manage fine without that also! Neon Arcade has a really nice series of videos (like 2 or 3) that get you up to speed with the universe. It also helps you decide if the tone is right for you.
I think the main story should’ve been longer, also. I don’t mind a 20 hr story, especially in a massive RPG, but It feels like they really struggled to cram as much into that time frame as possible. It skirts the edge of being nice and concise, snappy, and tight - and needing just a few more moments to take a breath and wait a second. This is helped if you do a lot of side quests.
The straight male romance option, River, is INCREDIBLY well written but he doesn’t tie into the main plot in any way whatsoever. It’s very strange and feels like they either ran out of time with him, or slapped together a romance with him at the last second. All the other romances at least know what’s going on with V’s story - meanwhile River has no idea, and you can never tell him. He’s an amazing guy though and I highly recommend his questline. He appears in ACT 2.
In general I’d say not to bother with the romances. There are only 4 total, and while the romancible characters on their own are really well written, the romances themselves are just kinda meh. One romance you don’t even meet until act 3. I don’t think they should’ve been included in the game at all, because they definitely don’t feel as fleshed out as everything else.
CDPR also sometimes forget that women players or gay men exist. Panam and Judy have a lot more content than River and Kerry for example. I don’t think this is intentional, they just have a large fanbase of dudebros. It only shows in the romance content and the nudity thing though.
Johnny, Takemura, and Claire should’ve been romances and I will fight to the death on that.
There are gay and trans characters in the game and their stories don’t revolve around their sexualities. It’s very Fallout: New Vegas in it’s approach to characters: IE. you’re going to love them. All of them.
V’s gender isn’t locked to their body type or their genitals- but to to their voice. I don’t think it’s the best solution they could’ve used but given how the game is heavily voice acted I assume that was what they had to work with.
Some of the romances are locked to both cis voices AND body types (not genitals if I recall but body shapes). That’s disappointing but I assume it was because of scripted scene issues and/or ignorance on the dev’s part considering the LGBT NPCS are so AMAZINGLY done. There’s no homophobic or transphobic language in the game - though there are gendered curse words and insults if that bothers you.
Some characters MAY suffer from ‘bilingual people don’t talk like that’ syndrome. But it can be hard to say for sure given that translators exist in this universe and the way they operate aren’t fully described. It’s only momentarily distracting, not enough to take away from how charming the NPCs are.
The endings are really good don’t get me wrong but I want fix it fic :(. All of the endings out of like 6 (?) in the game are bittersweet.
Both gender V’s are very good but female V’s voice acting is out of this world. If you don’t know what voice to go with/are neutral I’d highly recommend female V. Male V is charming and good but he feels much more monotone compared to female V.
V has their own personality. To some this won’t be a detractor - but a lot of people thought they’d be making absolutely everything from the ground up. V is more of a commander shepard or geralt than a skyrim or d&d pc, if that makes sense. You can customize and influence them to a HUGE degree, some aspects of V will always be the same.
Streetkid is the most boring background - at least for it’s introduction/prologue.
GAMEPLAY/TECHNICAL
If you can run your game on ultra, don’t. It actually looks best with a mix of high and medium settings. Unless you have a beast that has ray-tracing - then by all means use ray tracing and see how absolutely insanely good it looks.
There are color blind modes for the UI, but not for some of the AI/Netrunning segments in cutscenes. Idk how much this will effect folks with colorblindness but those segments are thankfully short.
There was an issue with braindances being an epilepsy trigger because for some reason they decided to mirror the flashing pattern after real epilepsy tests - probably because it ‘looks cool’. I don’t have epilepsy but it even hurt my eyes and gave me a headache. Massive oversight and really goddamn weird. Thankfully this was fixed.
There is no driving AI. Like at all. If you leave your car in the street the traffic is just going to pile up behind it. It’s one of the very few immersion breaking things I’ve encountered.
Sometimes when an NPC is driving with you in the car, they’ll drive on the curb and/or run into people. It’s kind of funny but can occasionally result in something weird. Feels very GTA  - but nothing excruciating.
The camera angle feels a little too low in first person mode when driving on cars. You get used to it though.
The police in this game feel slapped on and I hope they improve it. Right now if you commit a crime, you can never tell what will actually trigger it. And if you just run away a few blocks the police forget about it.
Bikes are just way more fun to ride than the cars are.
You CANNOT respec your character after you make them. Ever. it sucks. Go in with an idea ahead of time what you wanna do - it’s better than being a jack of all trades.
as of now you also CANNOT change their appearance after you exit the character creator. This, also, sucks. Make sure you REALLY like your V or you’re gonna be replaying the openings over and over like I did.
Photomode on PC is the N key. Had to look it up. The mode itself is great though
Shooting and Mele fighting feel pretty standard. I don’t have a lot of shooter experience besides Bethesda games so anything feels better than that to me. So far I’ve enjoyed stealth and mele the best, but that’s just my own taste! The combat and driving aren’t groundbreaking by any means, but they’re still very fun. I look forward to running at people with swords or mantis blades, and zipping around the city on a motorcycle to see the sights. The story, lore, and interesting quests and characters are the real draw here.
I haven’t encountered any game breaking bugs in 80-ish hours of play time. One or two T-poses, a few overlays not loading or floating objects - but nothing terrible. Again, my experience is with Bethesda games. This is all usually fixed by either opening your inventory and closing it again, or exiting out and reloading your save.
The C button is mapped for crouching AND skipping dialogue by default. That’s terrible. Change it in the settings to be HOLDING C skips dialogue and you’ll be gucci.
There’s apparently a crafting system. I have never been inclined to touch it. But I also play on easy like a pleb so IDK how it all scales otherwise.
The mirror reflections can be a little bit weird, at least on my end. They always end up a teeny bit grainy despite my computer being able to run everything on Ultra Max. You can still get good screens out of it though!
So many people text me to sell me cars and I want them to stop. Please. also the texting menu is abysmal. The rest is ok tho
It’s pretty clear when you’re going to go into a ‘cutscene’. all cutscenes are rendered in-engine BUT you often will be talking to other characters at a specific angle or setting. The game locks you into this usually by having you sit down. It works for me - after all we do a lot of sitting- but it IS very obvious that it’s a way for the game to get you in the frame it wants to display.
That’s all I can think of rn! If you’re interested but wanted to get a slightly better idea of whats going on, I hope this helps. I’m really enjoying it and despite my issues it’s exceeding my expectations. I’m going to be thinking about and replaying this game for quite a while.

My Favorite Games That Made Me Care About How I Looked
I’m very self conscious about the way I look in video games. Not only is it normally very easy to change an outfit or get a haircut in a video game it also says something about how I’d like to be perceived, especially in an online game. There are a lot of games that allow their players to express themselves in a lot of really fun and unique ways and I think that it’s really special when you get to celebrate a style that you would never get to portray in real life. These games that I am about to talk about are all games where I was able to look at my character and feel some ounce of pride at something that I had created. Some full disclosure for these images, I pulled them from official gaming outlets and developer blogs but none of these that you are seeing are my original characters. If anyone would like to request to see any of my characters from these games (or any other games!) I would be happy to go and grab screenshots of those characters.
Tumblr media
Grand Theft Auto Online
This is a pretty easy choice for most people. I chose specifically GTA Online over any GTA game or Red Dead game because I think the really special part about this is its setting. Your image is not only your character and your outfit in GTA Online but also your car, your house, and your business. There are a lot of different places to choose to call home and there are a lot of things to get “invested” into. For example, my good friend mojo5 runs a night club and wears suits and spends a lot of time gambling at the casino. That’s a character that would be different than mine who dresses and acts like a street racer. It gives your character a kind of personality and back story that is hard to achieve in other games. I have always kind of considered Grand Theft Auto Online to be a modern MMO of sorts, a playground. And as much as it is a huge lobby where you wait to start activities, it is also a sprawling city-space where you can essential live, make money, create this fun fictional life for yourself. And as far as fashion goes, the outfits, the cars, and the real estate help you shape that fantasy. Basically, I can tell you that I spent way more time customizing my character than I spent in actual activities in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Tumblr media
Saint’s Row Series
I love Saint’s Row. It is very similar to the last entry in this article but has this unique and goofy style that makes a lot of things okay that I would never do to my GTA character. In Saint’s Row I can have a neon blue Mohawk wielding a 10 foot melee weapon that is designed to look like something extremely unmentionable while driving a night rider space car that is also a tank and it’s totally fine because in the next cut scene you are about to fight Roddy Piper in Keith Davids nightmares. The games are incredibly wild and I love how I can let loose with a lot of different styles, and in the same way that I feel like I am creating my gritty street racer in GTA, I can make my goofy crime lord super hero secret agent in Saint’s Row. I think specifically in Saint’s Row 2 I took it a little more seriously because the tone of the game is a little more serious than the other entries however I have a specially place in my heart for how wacky each game allows me to be.
Tumblr media
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
You knew we couldn’t just not talk about Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the current situation, the Animal Crossing community is insanely huge. I cannot avoid the heap of Animal Crossing videos and screenshots all over social media. On my island of Sandover Village, I am patiently awaiting the Able Sisters to set up shop so that I am able to put in codes from everyone else’s custom designs that I’m seeing on twitter. That is because I have on my phone a stockpile of sweatshirts, sweaters, robes, and hats that I am actually really excited to show off in game. I tried to create some of my own but I am not one of the gifted seamstress’s that there seems to exist on the internet. I am not very far into Animal Crossing but by looking at other peoples games I know that I have only scratched the surface of my options in the game. I have to commend Nintendo on the amount of individualization that the design pro feature gives to its players. I have never seen a game give players the option to design their own clothing and it makes the social experience of the game feel so fresh.
Tumblr media
Dark Souls III
One of the most badass games that I have ever played as far as character design is concerned is Dark Souls III. When I put on a new set of armor I sit in awe of how it looks because I can see each tiny tear in the cape, every dent in the helmet, and the wear and weight of the armor. I was dragged through this game by some friends (because I could never in a thousand years have the patience to beat it by myself) and I followed them to every cursed swamp and death crypt because I wanted to see every weapon and every armor set. You look absolutely ghoulish in every armor set and I love it to death. This game allows so much in the way of customization and I think it helps that almost every gear set is good enough to get you through the entire game and that allows you to play with a lot of different looks and game play styles. This game is tough, really really tough, but you look really good even when you die.
Tumblr media
Splatoon 2
Splatoon 2 is a really special online shooter. I think in the month that I played this game religiously the thing that kept me playing was coming back to the stores to see what kind of clothes were in stock and what kind of items I could steal off the players in the lobby. I think that the developers of Splatoon 2 knew that the players were in it for the threads because every reward for playing the game was most likely a piece of clothing. The clothing options kind of vary from academy prep to Patagonia camp wear to skater outfits. And it comes together in this very hipster overall aesthetic that blends really naturally. The game features a mechanic that I really like wear you can walk up to anyone in the online lobby and look at what their wearing and order it. By the time I logged on the next day I had (a noticeably weaker version of) the exact same item but it really makes you feel like anything you see, you have access too which is really cool. And the ordering of the items kept me coming back to play every day.
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy XIV Online
I’ve heard it said many times that the real end game content of Final Fantasy XIV Online was the glamor and housing systems, and for most people they aren’t wrong. I will never stop being surprised at the outfits that players can put together in this game. I have seen millions of players in my 750 hours in Eorzea and I have not seen two characters look the same. The customization options are really limitless and I truly believe that. I played a healer mage and in my time at max level I had outfits that made me look like a cowboy, a thief, a fox spirit, a grim reaper, and even one that made me appear like a real healer mage. The clothing options throw a Final Fantasy twist on every kind of style that they set to replicate. So even though all the outfits can be wacky they never feel out of place in the world. If you want a game that you can make almost 50% just about customizing your character and taking it out to the town to show it off or in big raids to flaunt your style then this might be your game.
Tumblr media
Pokemon Sword And Shield
Pokemon is still trying to get it right but Sword and Shield is Game Freaks best attempt at trainer customization. The clothing options in the game are very European, well, they have always been that way but they are ESPECIALLY European in this one. Probably the greatest customization offered is the hair which in the world of anime characters is the most important one. I loved designing my character in this game but it was just so brief because shopping in this game is so boring as most clothes in the actual stores are very samey which makes the act of shopping pretty boring most of the time. I would roll up to a new town really excited to see what kind of stuff they had in the shop but it was just new colors for the same weird duffel bag that your character had already. Note that the game is mostly about the Pokemon so they really didn’t have to put any trainer customization in the game to make it a good game but they did a half decent job putting this much customization in the game and I feel like it’s going to keep getting steadily better the more times they implement this feature into their games. Big plus, you can design your trading card in the game and it is the most adorable thing and feels like a huge payoff to have a cool card if you’ve put a lot of effort into your trainer.
Tumblr media
Soul Calibur VI
So I haven’t actually played Soul Calibur VI, I bought the game and went immediately into character creation and started making my own roster of fighters that I ended up using maybe once or twice and moving on from. The character creator in this fighting game is really special. So the idea is that you choose a character that already exists and you keep their move set and fighting style but change how they look and immediately the things that came out of the community were hilarious. Some are kind of terrifying but they come shockingly close to being somewhat recognizable. For me it almost comes down to that being someone who is unfamiliar with the cast of Soul Calibur VI I cannot tell the difference between actual characters from the game and characters frakensteined together in the character creator. As on of the most fun character creators I’ve ever used I think it’s at least worth googling what other people have created.
Tumblr media
God of War (2018)
The newest God of War introduced something that we never got in the older games and that was the ability to change out what Kratos was wearing. While it was important in the game to maximize his stats, it also made you look cooler and cooler as the game went on. I wouldn’t say that you have a lot of options of things to wear in this game but I always felt bummed when I picked up something with relatively low stats that looked amazing. Later on the armor sets become more like trophies for completing hard tasks. The design of each piece of armor is really intricate and amazing to look at and while you can’t just pick whatever you want, I really wish that you could.
Tumblr media
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
In the Reaper of Souls expansion pack a new vendor was added to Diablo III that changed the way that I looted in the game. The vendor was called the mystic and she would make a piece of gear look like any other piece of gear of the same type. This meant that I could look amazing all the time without sacrificing strength. The way that the database of appearances you could pick from expands over time gave so many options that I couldn’t decide at some points. The coolest armor in the game was now accessible at any time. And the armor in Diablo III looks tight, sometimes I would argue that unless you pick some unique stuff it doesn’t make that big of a difference because of the isometric point of view in the game but it is really fun to have an added layer of customization in Diablo.
Tumblr media
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
So this is actually a section dedicated to Nexus Mod Manager because Skyrim in itself doesn’t actually have a whole lot of variations in the ways you can dress. But with the powers of modding you can now do absolutely anything and there are a whole group of 3D modelers out there getting you immersive and lore friendly items that make you look a whole lot cooler. The wonderful world of modding can turn kind of creepy very fast, a lot of very suggestive mods are out there and a lot of very inappropriate things so you know, a fair warning. It’s incredible when you can make it work and keep it from getting to the level of ultimate Skyrim. You can change and add clothes and weapons, add hair styles, and even add entire races into the game. Sometimes though I really believe that I like browsing mods a lot more than I like actually playing with them but I found that it is really satisfying to download a mod like Immersive Armors and see just how much it changes how diverse the selection of armors that not only you but everyone in the game now wears can be.
Tumblr media
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
So I believe that some other previous Zelda titles had the ability to change Links outfit but never to this extent. What I think is the coolest part about the clothing system in this game is that you wear certain clothes to survive certain climates but you can also forget all that and make a yummy meal instead that lets you be warm wearing the desert clothes in the snow. The amount of armors that you can amass in this game starts off kind of underwhelming but becomes really fun and interesting and serves all sorts of fun fan service for fans of the series. This game doesn’t have the versatility and variety of some of the other games in the series but any game that lets you cross dress to sneak into a city of warrior women is credited for its costume design in my book.
Tumblr media
League of Legends
I have spent a shameful amount of money on skins. I hate League of Legends and I hate most of the business practices of Riot Games but their skins just look good. I can appreciate when someone I don’t like makes something good and they consistently pump out awesome looking skins that are frankly worth the money if you play the game regularly. Back when I played this game daily I put up way too much money, even I think about 18$ just on a skin that changed colors when you typed a specific command. Anyways that’s really all I have, there aren’t a lot of games where I like the skins, especially the fact that they are mostly behind pay walls but League gets a pass I suppose.
Tumblr media
Destiny Series
I used to be really into playing a specific game mode in Destiny named Iron Banner. I played a lot of it in Destiny and a good portion of them in Destiny 2. When you played enough Iron Banner in a year you were able to collect an armor set to commemorate the achievement. Almost all the cool armor in Destiny has purpose to it. Not only do you get to decide how you look but it also is you showing off the fact that you completed a raid, were really good at sparrow racing, or kicked major ass in the crucible. Each armor was recognizable and everyone knew what it meant. I think that is what makes the customization in Destiny so rewarding, its that it is in itself an actual reward for completing hard tasks that not everyone will be able to complete.
Tumblr media
Code Vein
Out of all the anime games I’ve played I think what stands out to me the most is that their character creators have all been really bad. This is where Code Vein really shined. Code Vein has this dystopian vampire aesthetic that is really unique and allows for a lot of ways to make cool characters that fit into the look of the game. I don’t think that what they’ve done here is completely new but they have this style that is exciting to play with. Making a revenant is fun and builds this anticipation for the rest of the game. I also respect the games decision to allow you to make modifications to your character after the game has started which is not something that most games would allow. Code Vein has these cape’s that you can wear to gain abilities and those are cool to add onto your outfit but I don’t think that it outshines what the character creator has done here. It’s a niche thing I guess but if you have always wanted to make your own anime vampire then this is it.
A Persona
I really like making characters for a reason. I think a lot of the escapism of video games hinges on me placing myself into the character on the screen. That’s why I love what you can do in games like Animal Crossing that is all about creating exactly what you want and Final Fantasy XIV Online where you get to exist and share in a world as a persona of sorts. Being able to customize a character in a video game does not make that game good or bad, but I think that when you are given the option the developer is given an opportunity to make it a very special experience and allow you to be unique within a community of people online. And the internet has made that sharing of characters really special, allowing everyone to see how unique of an experience you can have with a game by beating it with “your character”.
Special Shout Outs For Stylish Games And Characters
SSX series being dripping in 90s style
Also NBA Street Vol. 2 for the same reason
Persona 5 for being the most stylish game ever
Halo because space marines rock extra style points
Katana Zero for being badass and 80s neon will always be in style
Specifically Graffiti Mario in Super Mario Sunshine he had flair
Samurai Legend Musashi for having a stylish game case but being a horrible game
Devil May Cry just for existing

Decade thoughts thing
This isn’t gonna be particularely exciting I’m just emptying my brain. Also probably kinda long.
I’m gonna start with the personal points cuz those are probably the most depressing lol
I only feel disappointment towards myself considering the last 10 years. I started off this decade freshly entering college with ideas and a plan on what i wanted to do, and I’m ending it here...I’ve given up on an art career, I struggle to draw anything and I can barely keep up with my life. I’m having the worst art block of my life and I can’t finish anything. I was relatively active online and now I can’t find anything to post. I feel useless most of the time. I lost 5 years of what could’ve been constant art progress, and I feel it daily.
I have a now stable job at least, and in about two-ish months I will be moving out into my first appartment. At work I’ll strive to try and continue to be more confident in myself and my work experience. My lead, who sadly passed away on christmas eve, did all he could to push me to believe in my knowledge and 3 years of experience at my workplace and I’ll be trying my best to continue in that direction in his honor.
I’ve met some incredible people, some of which decided to stick with me despite what I ended up being. I’m eternaly grateful that they’ve decided to continue to share their lives with me and I love them very much.
I completely cut off a high school abusive friend from my life.
I’ve made amazing friends, but I’ve also lost some from...just my own fault I believe. I’m not a particularely good friend, overall. I wouldn’t blame anyone but myself.
I learned about Aromanticism (and tbh a lot of things about lgbt+!! I barely knew anything before coming here). Been identifyign as aromantic since then, and it’s been the perfect descriptor of my feelings towards romance my whole life.
On some less personal points, some highlights I can think of at the moment, in no particular order:
The glorious return of Star Wars. It was kind of a lonely time without content for a long time, and I had been staying away from the main fandom. But having new stuff has been great, and I got some friends to get into Star Wars with me, and we now have an Edge of the Empire thing going, and it’s been great fun. I got to rewatch The Clone Wars, the Prequels, watch Rebels, and I hope we’ll get to watch Resistance and anything else. The Mandalorian is easily one of the best thing to happen to the franchise since The Clone Wars. I definitely enjoyed the new Trilogy despite some of its faults. I’m planning on flying to Florida next year to go to Galaxy’s Edge. That would be my first trip to the US.
I started the process of building my own set of Mandalorian armor, some time before the serie aired. I’m hoping I’ll be able to actually finish it, and possibly join my local mando mercs clan.
I started playing Final Fantasy XIV, which has been great fun, lead me to meet some super cool people who are still playing with me, and helped carry me through some very rough years of my life. It lead me to my first plane trip, my first visit to Europe and outside my country, and more importantly lead me to meeting some very important friends. I hope I can return soon. Shoutout to EGG, my FC, but also Whitesand, a friendly FC, who hang out with us!!! They’re cool.
Going back further, I played Saints Row, which lead to some of my best times on Tumblr, and more importantly, allowed me to meet Ten. I can’t even begin to imagine what my life would be like right now had I not met him. He’s been ridiculously supportive of me and the things I like, and there’s nothing I could say or do that would properly express how happy I am that we’re friends.
I started playing DnD! More accurately, I started playing pathfinder, then DnD5, then Edge of the Empire, then a WHOLEASS CUSTOM SYSTEM MADE BY TEN and it’s been great fun. I now have a buncha dice which is apparently a “modest amount” by dnd player standard.
I also, at some point, decided to revisit myself, and allow myself to indulge in some styles. As someone who’s been wearing hoodies and jeans for a long fucking time to avoid being noticed and generally hiding my own form, now that I had money I decided to indulge a bit....and I dedicated part of my wardrobe to kawaii shit. I now have a decent amount of skirts, pastel graphic shirts, dresses, tigh high socks and leggings. And I’ll admit I do not wear them enough, out of severe social anxiety, but I’ve been trying, particularely at cons.
I now have a pretty significant figure collection. I started off with one scale that my brother had given me, and like, one figma, and now I have several scales, many figmas, a bunch of nendoroids, and various other figures. I love looking at them, and I’m still working on making decent displays with them. I have a couple of gunpla to build still.
I started palying Monster Hunter, and I loved every minute. I started with MHgen, then MH4U, then MH3U, then MHWorld, THEN MHGenU. While World has a lot of stuff I’m not super happy with, all the games were still rly enjoyable.
I got me a Switch, a PS4, and now an actual gaming PC. I frikkin love videogames.
There are a lot of things that happened in the decade.
In the next, I’ll keep trying to enjoy art again, despite my lack of progress so far. My life’s about to change with my move and all, so I hope I can...kind of improve on myself, somehow. I know I don’t post anything and don’t talk to anyone, so like I get it. But thanks to anyone who decided to give this a read. You’re all rad and I hope you’ll all have a nice 2020, and I hope many good things happen to you all in the next decade.
I’m going to keep trying.

okay i'm snapping what the hell is saints row about. who's the dude with the giant titties you keep thirsting over and who's the mcdonalds emo. i need some answers bc i don't know shit.
ill edit this w a readmore bc it got Very wordy and im on mobile but i promise you. this series is a mess, i live for it, i could go ON abt it for days but this response was long enough fhwkfhejhfnd
1) so basically the premise in most of the games is like. you are a member (leader as of sr2) of a street gang (the third street saints!) and though the story is tweaked slightly for each installment, the overall goal is the same- control different neighborhoods in your city, squash the other gangs, be badass. i *call* it a grand theft auto clone but tbh i havent played gta, the gameplay's similar enough though. the first two games are more uhh... grounded? than the later 3? the plotlines are darker, deaths & events are more fucked up in a heavier/moral sense, etc etc. but the last 3 are way more silly i think. the entire series is kinda packed with crude/sexual humour and essentially responding to a punch with a flamethrower, but it goes over the top in the newer games which is.. why i always liked em lol.
but its just funny in general to think of the plot progression. oh i witness a gang war so im recruited in a gang whose current leader... wants to end gang violence. oh that leader tried to kill me and arrested/killed everyone else so i am going to go apeshit on this city until i find him and kill him back. oh somehow we are international celebrities and do crime as publicity stunts, i am gonna ask mayor burt reynolds to help us with this zombie invasion. oh now i am president of the united states, time to get the earth blown up by an alien warlord and do it with whats left of my gang every survivor plus an ai in a ball.
ive seen Some Shit abt the general timeline but tbh ive always tried to piece it together like. ok these games take place in/around whatever year they were released. besides sr4 which would be... 2019 if my math is correct? i just felt like mentioning that bc i am not touching any canon timeline
OH ALSO the main reason i even got into the series. i literally bought sr3 because of the character customization. the body mods could.... use a lot of work imo but what you can do for your protags face is BANANAS... and changing voice pitch in sr4 was fun too bc male 1 was ok for my boss but having it just a teensy bit higher REALLY made it
tldr; i cant help you there i am just along for this ride
2) im assuming you mean johnny gat not bc theres any competition but like. theres so many dudes like that in this game
his role is actually pretty consistent in that he stays a lieutenant, and hes one of the rare characters (besides. the protag i think?) who's been in every single game. he's the designated badass of the saints and is really good at coming up with plans that involve lots of guns or blowing stuff up. if i typed everything i liked abt him right now this post would be a mile long but trust me he is an excellent man, even tho he might be the scariest motherfucker ever and i probably would be afraid of him irl, he fully deserves that. hes loyal to the saints and his boss which i absolutely respect. still bitter abt sr3 "killing" him bc cmon. he cannot die. does that count in the spoiler? its the literal first mission after u customize your character so i dont think so// whatever ive been posting untagged spoilers for the other games bc theyve been out for a decade
3) IM STILL LOSING MY MIND OVER THAT SJSDHADDHSI mcdonalds emo.... thats his legal name now....
but seriously matt miller is like. one of my fav characters from sr3. he's the leader of one of the rival gangs, the deckers, and they specialize in hacking & money laundering and stuff like that. matt specifically is 16 in his debut game which is really funny to learn bc imagine being a ballsy ass kid repeatedly nae naeing the us government because you can.
anyway i like him bc instead of killing the other gang leaders like usual, u just fight him in a vr world and ur both sick ass dragons and he decides "actually i dont wanna go brain dead. ill give u either weapons or car discounts" then he fucks off back to england. then it lets him come back for sr4 and yall are friends now :D yes yall tried to kill each other but whats past is past. i would be his friend irl honestly hes great. also im still firm on the autistic matt train bc of how often he shares his love for nyte blayde & im WEAK over the boss eventually getting into it as well

shoutout to the idiot who commented the dumbest thing on my old blog about how you literally have to go 007 on video games nowadays to make sure you’re not getting ripped off. Especially AAA games and beloved games who are suffering from greedy ass companies.
I said, how I remember the joyous days when I could roll into a Blockbuster and pick up literally any game and I knew I’d have so much fun playing it.
Little Big planet? God of war? Prince of persia? Call of duty modern warfare? Assassin’s creed (god what happened to this series) Mirrors edge? GTA4? Saints row 2? Naughty Bear? Hotline Miami? The walking dead?
But because of morons like EA who are swallowing game companies and shoving all these regulations down their throats that basically ensure nothing they produce will be an enjoyable game but instead becomes this glorified gambling ring where you have to sell your soul to buy loot boxes that give you useless crap. Or they have live elements so you can’t play the game on your own and you need wifi otherwise the game is rendered unplayable...even if you just want to play the campaign or single player...
I can’t buy a game without doing extensive research on it otherwise I don’t know if my money will be well spent.
and, I'm buying a video game. My taste in games is eclectic so I’m not a hard person to please, if I spend my money on a game you would think I’ll be getting a product that I really like. Not. Any. More.
and this idiot had a spat, saying how everyone who does this is being overdramatic, that you should just buy games and if you don’t like it then don’t play it again. That all this badmouthing of companies is stupid and they are companies first who need to make money and we are being children.
right, we are being children for wanting games that are worth our money...
not a lot of people can buy games which cost around £59.99 in England willy nilly. People will spend that money on something they will enjoy but it’s as if games are fucking loot boxes in themselves. you’ll probably get something useless but ooooh there’s that 0.5% chance it’ll be something good! SO BUY IT. that isn’t how is should be.
and of course, companies need to make money, but companies did a very good job at making money, having a good rep and having loyal customers when they actually made good games. Now? they're taking the easy money but implementing what is essentially gambling into their games. they will put their heart and soul into those gambling mechanics but half-ass everything else.
examples are the notorious star wars battlefield, fallout 76, Anthem and Mighty NUmber 9.
it’s infuriating...it’s really infuriating. and I don’t understand the logic that if you don’t like it don’t buy it, or buy it and see what it’s like. Because I never know what I’m gonna get so how the hell am I supposed to know if I don’t like it or not??? and games ARE EXPENSIVE and I’ll be feeding these companies money and if I do buy it anyway I’ll be encouraging them to produce even more rip-offs!
I’ll be forever worshipping games like God of War for kicking these companies up the arse and showing them how it’s done.
so thank you for games like RDR2, Detroit: Become human (love it or hate it) Final fantasy xv and life is strange 2 as well as loads more games for being genuinely enjoyable and worth my money....

[Street Fighter V] Extra Battle: Viable Ryu
If you were lucky enough to get the Extra Boss Battle before July 1, 2018 you got a chance to fight Ryu dubbed "The Master" it cost 1000FM to fight him and just like with Fortnite Thanos was for a limited time this is something I want to see more of in the future with different games and even more possible limited time crossover events that keeps interest and can change, add, or improve gameplay keeping things fresh, fun and unpredictable for the gamer. I think both are cool ideas and watching MDZ Jimmy fight what he calls him Viable Ryu was funny and entertaining check it out. This was pretty cool I had just made a post about the new DLC character G and the speculation on who he is and some of the boss battles of SFV so it was cool to see the Ryu The Master "A True Martial Artist" in his traditional Gi. G and Ryu's rival Sagat are the last 2 planned DLC characters planned coming out later this year, and with ideas like this they can keep the game fresh for years to come.

Tumblr media
VesperArcade has been putting up a lot of quality strategy and advice videos for many of the top games this year including the fighting game genre. With the release of the character called G getting closer wanted to revisit one of the best years for fighting games.
Extra Bonus:
With Street Fighter celebrating its 30th Anniversary and speculation on who G is, Mortal Kombat coincidentally just came off of celebrating its 25th Anniversary and many anticipating a new Mortal Kombat game (Mortal Kombat 11) and whether the game would take place before or after Armageddon. SMGxPrincess, Dynasty, BruskPoet, History Behind the Warrior and Super have some of the best informative, fun insights, and gameplay with Mugen creators Borg117 & Bleed having some of the best new gameplay ideas, and Mortal Kombat Addict has his own Krypt Secrets with some of the best Mugen Mortal Kombat games. Mortal Kombat has a huge following and a strong enough background to keep the game going with all the secrets and characters already in the game but it would still be cool to see something new. Many wanted a crossover game with Street Fighter or even Killer Instinct but on its own it is still one of the top fighting games of the genre.
Tumblr media
Kreate-a-Fighter was one of the best features from Mortal Kombat Armageddon between that and the Epic Gears and Shaders from Injustice 2 they are the perfect combination.
Update:
Dynasty has just posted New Mortal Kombat details in the form of a movie instead of the anticipated Mortal Kombat 11 game. Here they introduce a new character and a new story not necessarily what we know of Mortal Kombat. More of a spin off or a custom Mugen game, even though I was hoping for some kind of answer what happens after Armageddon I welcome any new idea and if done well it can work even though not canon (like the Japanese/Chinese relationship with Liu Kang & Kung Lao - ninja/shaolin monk brother relationship but without stereotyping it can happen right? I'm sure they will explain it like they picked which martial art or style they wanted when they were young). Mortal Kombat Rebirth pitch wasn't exactly canon either but looked good enough that we wanted to see it anyway. They did Mortal Kombat Legacy 1 & 2 instead but Mortal Kombat Rebirth I think would have worked.
New ideas sometimes keeps interest just like in the Kreate-a-Fighter post where Dynasty, Brusk Poet, SMGxPrincess and other fans game post ideas that gamers actually want as well as Borg117, Bleed, and Mortal Kombat Addict reinventing Mortal Kombat with gameplay that adds new experiences. Check out the new Mortal Kombat Movie details and see what you think as well as the Mortal Kombat Rebirth pitch and the version they actually went with Mortal Kombat Legacy 1 & 2, and check some great ideas for the new MK game in the Kreate-a-Fighter post and SMGxPrincess post below.

SMGxPrincess usually has on point information and knows what she is talking about when it comes to the industry haven’t heard anything yet so I decided to put up the best ideas and information from SMGxPrincess and Dynasty. She posted information about a Shaolin Monks 2 as the next game personally I want the new Mortal Kombat 11 so hopefully both are true or it is combination of the 2.

RED FACTION GUERRILLA RE-MARS-TERED AND SAINTS ROW IS BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE!
Volition earlier in the year was bought by THQ Nordic reuniting them with old Volition titles from the past like Summoner and Red Faction. If you are not familiar with the Red Faction series you are in luck Red Faction Guerrilla is being remastered and if that’s not enough Saints Row 1 and 2 are now backwards compatible on the Xbox One. MrSaintsGodzilla21 has posted 2 videos so you can see how well these two have been upgraded as well as detailed explanation.
Agents of Mayhem had mixed reviews when it came out but it was a different perspective that even though is chaotic it is different enough you won’t confuse it with a Saints Row game kind of how Saints Row the Third separated itself from being a GTA clone. Check out Agents of Mayhem on Playstation Underground and hightlights for Agents of Mayhem and 10 years of Saints Row.

Jamie Foxx has been confirmed to play Spawn in this new reboot by the comic creator and artist Todd McFarlane in association with Blumhouse Productions which made news last year with its movie Get Out. It is said that they are taking more of a horror approach, as well as Spawn not really speaking. That works good with Jason or Michael Myers but some dialog would be good I hope they rethink that. I would like to see what the official word is from Todd McFarlane himself but Spawn not saying anything doesn’t sound right to me.
Since Spawn has been anticipated by fans of the comic, movies and video games here is the History of Spawn by Variant very entertaining and knowledgeable to watch and History of the Warrior talks about the real reason Spawn wasn’t in Injustice 2 well thought out and entertaining.

WILL 2 JOKERS BE THE BRIGHT IDEA THAT WILL DO DC COMICS JUSTICE?
If you had to choose the next Joker movie to be based around the one from Batman or Suicide Squad which would you pick? Personally as a fan of Suicide Squad and wanting to see something new I think it was good news that Jared Leto was getting an opportunity to play that version of the Joker to see where the story goes as this version looks different and even acts different. But for the sake of argument Joaquinn Phoenix playing the original Joker and having this version also a standalone movie seems like the best of both worlds.

MCU Could Tackle Horror Genre According to Kevin Feige
Marvel is thinking about getting in on the horror movie action and thinking about a few characters like Man-Thing and Blade. Blade one of the more popular characters in the Marvel Comics Universe already has a trilogy out on DVD and Blu-ray but getting a revamp wouldn’t hurt and I would like to see the direction they would. There is currently a Blade television show called Blade The Series you can watch now on the CW staring Kirk Jones (Sticky Fingaz from the group Onyx)
Joaquin Phoenix has just been officially announced as the Joker for the Origin film they are making, for any fans of Batman or the Joker check the new game Batman: The Enemy Within as well some of the older Batman games like Batman: Return to Arkham.

Batman: Return to Arkham includes what is considered to be 2 of the best games ever made now remastered for the new generation of players on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The game comes with 2 classics Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. With the power of the Unreal Engine 4 giving it that graphical upgrade it looks better then before. Even though it has received mixed reviews it is still worth the pick up whether you are a new to the series or played it on the previous systems.

It has time travel to numerous eras in history and also there are some throwbacks to smaller sized scenes from Chrono Trigger. You stroll around the video game world with your companions rather terrarium tv apkpure than approving missions like the majority of. Nonetheless, there are still gacha components and also simplified battle mechanics. There is no power so you can play as long as you wish to. However, our large gripe is the lack of Google Play Gamings cloud conserving.
PUBG Mobile
That suggests that you can not run these video games on low-end smart devices. PUBG Mobile and also Fortnite is a huge pull down for everybody holding a 1GB RAM Smart Device. Not simply RAM, yet the game also requires qualified cpu as well. Although the video game has been optimized well, still it calls for a capable smartphone to run.
What is the most played game in 2020?
Mobile games don't earn enough to be as good as console ones, for which players are willing to pay more. Some of them are selling data. At this point the industry more or less knows the popular/most addictive formats. So the games are bad.

Rising Supersnack’s Top 10 games of the year
I stoled this concept from @tarenko, which seems like fun
Honorable Mention Best Game I played a grand total of 20 minutes for: Persona 5
I don’t have a PS4 so I borrowed a friend’s for like 20 minutes and I had the time of my life.
Best Game for Blasphemers: Fight of Gods
The last thing I expected to come out of Steam for a brand new fighting game was one that featured our Lord and Savior Jesus H. Christ fighting against other Gods including Anubis, Amaterasu, Odin, and Father Christmas himself, Santa Claus.
Best GET THE DICK Game: Nidhogg
Mind games, positioning, and just straight up tricking your opponent are the true ways to get the upper hand in this no-holds-barred, drag out, all out duel between you and someone who wants to get the dick as much as you do.
Best Punchy Platformer: Khimera: Destroy All Monster Girls
Don’t let the name fool you, you’re not going around killing Miia or Centorea, you play as a different Monster Girl and you’re just trying to save your land. It’s a cute little indie run and punch platformer that, most importantly, is absolutely free and you can get right now 10 minutes ago.
Best Shoot Bang Game: Enter the Gungeon
A real big new game genre getting my attention is the rogue-like. I played Crypt of the Necrodancer and Rogue Legacy a shit ton during the last 2 years and this year I get to shoot shit with Enter the Gungeon. Real talk though, it’s hard as fuck and I’ve barely gotten past the first floor with how hard the bosses can be. But it’s possible, and I know I can get to the end. One day.
Best Game to Tide You Over Until Fighter Z Comes Out: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
I’m a big sucker for Create A Character games that give you a ton of customization options and this is probably my favorite one since Saint’s Row IV. No surprise, I made OCs for every single race including making Kale because I love her and she’s not in the game yet. It’s a little bit of a janky game, but it’s easy to learn and very, very easy to get super strong. It ain’t perfect, but HEY! Fighter Z is coming out in like 2 minutes.
Best Game I Was Super Late to the Party To: Overwatch
Everyone’s said everything about Overwatch, I got to the game like a year late but I love it. Moving on...
Best Game I’ve Seen Grow From a Young Sprout: Skullgirls
I first played this game all the way back in 2012, when it had 8 characters and was still well-animated. Now it has (I think) the world record for the most frames of hand-drawn animation for a video game and a new RPG by the same developer is in the works and I couldn’t be more proud of them. You keep on keeping on, Lab Zero.
Best Dark Souls Game of The Year: Cuphead
Yeah yeah, big jokes, big funnyman commentary about the difficulty, but one thing I rarely hear about Cuphead is that it’s satisfying. Beating the run and gun levels, beating the bosses, all of the game is as satisfying as it is beautiful and fucking brutal. It’s good, but enter at your own risk.
Best Game I Should’ve Played Ages Ago: Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
Good fucking god do I love Kingdom Hearts but I have not gotten up to date with the games (outside of plot), and because of that KH2FM is so much more mind-blowing in the little details and added content. I stand by what my friend says, KH2 has possibly the best ending that the series could have ever gotten. If there wasn’t the tease at the end, it could’ve had the best, most satisfying ending that console generation has had, especially when it comes to KH2FM.
Best Game Experience of the Year: Doki Doki Literature Club
Not saying much else except play the game. Do it, it’s a free game and only about 3-5 hours long. You won’t regret your time in the Literature Club, I promise.

Just how many game series are out there whose names are either completely irrelevant, or stopped being relevant long ago?
* Mega Man was about the titular character, Mega Man, saving the world. But Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX aren’t about Mega Man, they’re about other people whose adventures happened long after Mega Man was destroyed.
* How many times has a Dragon Quest game actually been about a dragon? Sure, you can kill them in the games, but are dragons ever truly important to the plot? Are you ever a dragon, or seeking to kill a dragon?
* There are 15 Final Fantasy games.
* The Elder Scrolls series has almost nothing to do with the titular scrolls themselves. In fact, we’ve only seen four scrolls in the five games as far as I know, one in an Oblivion side-quest, and three in Skyrim.
* Team Fortress 2 often doesn’t even include fortresses except in custom maps, and Degroot Keep. There are shitty little forts, but not fortresses. And the original game was just a generic shooter with no fortresses at all.
* The Half Life games are about an alien invasion. What does a half life have to do with anything? Gordon Freeman is a theoretical physicist! The events of the game are caused by alien portals!
Now consider just how many games have names that are just a “no duh” moment.
* Monster Hunter. You hunt monsters. That’s it. That’s the game.
* DOOM. Hell is invading, and you kill demons.
* Left 4 Dead. Yeah, you’re left for dead. And there are zombies.
* Portal. As in, the main gameplay mechanic.
* Fable. Because it’s basically a fairy tale.
* Grand Theft Auto. As in, the main game mechanic, stealing cars.
Then consider how many games are named after their protagonist.
* Mega Man.
* Shantae.
* Sonic.
* Mario.
* Overwatch.
* The Witcher.
What I’m saying is that games are often given strange names. And then there are so many indie games with names that make no sense. What is a Haydee? SUPERHOT isn’t about heat or attractiveness or even skill, they just repeat the word over and over. What does Moirai mean?
Just... be creative. Don’t go for something nonsensical or obvious, or the protagonist’s name. Do something that sounds good, and isn’t just plain.
Megabyte Punch. The Legend of Zelda. Saints Row. Fallout. Bioshock. Dishonored. Just Cause. Rogue Legacy. Starbound. Those all have creative names, instead of an obvious pattern. Try to be like them, instead of creating a new Final Fantasy series.

Watch Dogs 2 Critical Review
I don’t post many reviews of games here, mostly ‘cause you can find reviews everywhere and in any format. So why make one for Watch Dogs 2? Because they went the extra mile and they deserve more than what they got.
After the failure of the first game, it’s understandable why the sequel sold so poorly. Not even counting the amount of solid games that came out around the same time, but people have been burned by Ubisoft’s marketing far too many times. Take The Division, which I actually like and play, the downgrade wasn’t just in graphics but gameplay. It was far more interesting in the original trailer than what we ended up with. The Division is fun but also boring, and to a point you can say the same about Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (another game I like). Syndicate however has the benefit of having the twins, Evie and Jacob Frye are really fun characters and the Assassin’s Creed formula has its moments. But one thing was clear, Ubisoft was making cookie cutter missions in their open world games and that gets boring fast.
Finally they made a game that breaks away from the GTA clone Fed Ex formula (mostly anyway) and people weren’t buying it. Gaming sites were more concerned about getting hits, so while most of them praised the game, it was mostly as “it’s better than the first” which we all knew would be ‘cause that one was terrible. So why did I ignore the game? Well, to be honest it was Marcus. Don’t get me wrong, even without playing it I prefer Marcus over Aiden any day, but the promo videos kept showing Marcus as this dull character, and his clothes are something I wouldn’t wear even if I was cosplaying. I knew you could change clothes but have you seen the outfits they chose for the promo? he looks like a clown most of the time.
What I’m saying is, I couldn’t find myself in Marcus. Thankfully, they decided to offer that 3 hrs trial which I took. Played the hell out of the game to get a feel for the clothes, missions, characters and story. So I’m going to start my review with that, click keep reading if you’re interested.
The 3hrs Trial
Tumblr media
OK so the first mission was kind of hard, but it was fun. Talk about a tutorial in the middle of a war zone and with a timer no less. (trial timer, not mission timer) I had to learn fast to make the most out of it. The script is... well have you seen TV shows lately? yea not great but not as bad as some people make it out to be. The gameplay was solid, animations were pretty good and graphics are impressive. I was unimpressed with the characters, even Sitara which I liked from the promo material. I did a couple of main missions, stole the Cyber Driver car, played some co-op missions and 1 of the events, opted out of PvP ‘cause I’m not interested in that. I don’t go to the Dark Zone in The Division either so yea, PvP is not my thing. I did a lot of the ATM side quests which are quite fun and funny. By the end of the trial I knew I really wanted this game. It was already on my list, but I was going to buy it as cheap as possible. I talked to my friends (the ones that played the trial with me) and we all liked it, they bought the game before I did but we all got it. Not only that but we bought the Gold Edition, which is still on sale at the time of this post.
Gold Edition
Tumblr media
Why the Gold edition? Well, it comes with the Season Pass and it was $60 for the whole thing. So technically, it was finally priced right, the whole game for the price of a full game, I’m OK with that. It’s probably the only way I would recommend the season pass of any game.
Characters
Like I said before, during the 3hr trial I wasn’t impressed, but they slowly grew on me and I prefer that. In Life is Strange it was the same, I didn’t like Chloe until the third episode.
Tumblr media
Marcus
Look at those clothes... wtf is that? He looks like TV static or something. Anyway, took a while but the guy grew on me thanks to moments like this one
youtube
Wish he had had more to do outside of doing the impossible. Also wish he had more interaction with Horatio.
Tumblr media
Sitara
She’s cool, the Sombra of the group (a lot more serious though) and more of an artist than a hacker, even though she’s brilliant. She knows the power of a brand and works hard to turn Dedsec into “celebrities”. Just don’t wear a man bun in front of her.
Tumblr media
Wrench
Cynical, sarcastic, weird af and with a short temper. This is Marcus’ best friend in the crew. Throws tantrums every now and then, I can relate to this guy a lot more, except for the thongs... yea... can’t relate to that.
Tumblr media
Josh
The walking super computer, he is a bit stereotypical as well as cartoonish but I still like this guy a lot. There’s a lot of potential with this character.
Tumblr media
Horatio
And Horatio, you barely get to talk to this guy and that’s a real shame. The few moments he had with Marcus were great. With the amazing animations and expressions, their funny scenes were actually funny.
I’m pretty sure this is the first time Ubisoft went with this approach on the characters. We’ve seen games where the companions are just as important as the main character, games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout 4 and of course the Saints Row series. I can say this was just a few interactions short of being as good as Saints Row’s. I applaud Ubisoft for this and hope they keep evolving this part of their story telling, with gameplay to support it.
Gameplay
Tumblr media
This game has variety, to the point where I haven’t tried everything it offers yet. Sure some of it is mundane, but I do love to have some mundane stuff in my open world games. As long as I don’t get a call from a cousin every 5 steps asking to go bowling. Still, the mundane stuff gives you an excuse to explore the beautifully crafted map. Same with the collectibles which help you unlock some skills later in the game.
They also added events, now since I locked my game as a single player experience (except when I join my friends in co-op) I’m not sure if the events are part of the co-op experience or if you have to open your game. You can choose to open it so that only friendly players show up in your session, however that doesn’t mean they won’t troll you, there are a lot of asses out there. But that’s another positive, the ability to lock the game as a single player experience or open its multiplayer options in ways that work for you. In any case I had a lot of fun with these events when playing with my friends. Especially one that has low tolerance for stealth (it was kind of hilarious as I was marking enemies and studying the locations, then suddenly he was blowing people up with traps)
I do recommend that if you don’t want to participate in PvP, that you turn off Bounty Hunter and Invasion but leave the friendly options open. Why? because even though there’s a chance trolls might find a way to hinder you, you also miss out on unscripted events that can only happen when some crazy dude has the cops or gangs on his tail. You can help them out or troll them yourself if that’s your kink.
One last thing, I know I’m keeping the gameplay details very vague but I prefer if you found out everything you can do in the game on your own, the drone and remote car are fantastic mechanics. I love it when a game introduces a mechanic that suddenly every game after it should build upon. Not unlike the Last of Us with their bow and on the fly crafting which was arguably improved by the competition in the Tomb Raider games.
Missed Opportunities
The game is VERY good as is, so if you can afford it, go ahead and buy it ‘cause unless you hate Open World Games, you should like this game a lot. Remember, there’s a 3hr free trial if you’re still unsure, it’s not a demo, it’s the full game and you have access to it for 3 hrs.
That being said, a few things could have turned this game from very good to great (at least in my opinion)
Tumblr media
1- No way to donate money
A- can’t tip performers on the streets B- can’t give money to beggars C- can’t even donate to bank accounts of people you know have some kind of illness or problem
Sounds pointless, but if you do it often enough in a game, the reason why you did it may carry over to the real world. A pebble in a pond or whatever but I think it can work.
2- Chatting NPCs
A- it’s only used to deliver low level context B- should have an “affection” rating tied to it, even if the reward is some spray or clothing item C- can’t use intel from NPCs (unless scripted) to prepare better for a mission
You can talk to your crew and get their thoughts after every mission, but that’s ultimately pointless. I understand they didn’t want to lock people out of content, nor wanted to force people into something they didn’t want to do but hey, I didn’t talk to Garrus every single time after a mission and he still became one of my favorite characters of all time. Same with Liara and Tali.
3- Tone
A- too serious at times B- it should have been more about their branding, at least most of the game (it kind of is but they already have the main game’s goal from the start) C- after a particular story event, some missions should be locked for a substantial amount of in game time
Saints Row games know they are a parody and work with it. Yes they shift tone in a way. From being funny and satirical to Ling, Carlos, Gat and even you dying, but it still felt within the themes of the game. In Watchdogs 2 you can have a gang after you, then you’re joking about some stupid shit. It shifts too abruptly sometimes. It’s not annoying just something that could be ironed out in the future.
4- HQ Hackerspace
A- you have your main hideout in a game store and you didn’t Gwent it? B- no hideout customization C- Marcus can’t recruit for Dedsec
Seriously, why didn’t you make a game within a game? You could have made a table top game and go all Gwent with it. And not being able to customize at least one of the hideouts is kind of a first in a Ubisoft game. Also, for story purposes I wish that Marcus had his own recruits. This could have been a game of its own where you could recruit the wrong person and then having to deal with that. Of course this wouldn’t be scripted, the NPCs are out there, (I call them trigger NPCs) if you recruit those that are under cover or from P8 or whatever, then that’s on you.
5- Social Locations
A- no interesting NPCs in most of them B- they serve no purpose other than one interaction and as a fast travel point
Something could have been done with these, especially if tied to the whole Marcus being able to recruit for Dedsec thing. A little initiation or test could have been done here.
6- Canon vs Player Actions
A- Marcus can kill a lot of people if the player wants B- at one point in the story Marcus does kill some people but gets no reaction from the crew
This is the same problem I have with the new Tomb Raider games, killing is not a big deal for these characters. It should be, like I said with the change in tone. They are hackers kind of having fun exposing the big corporations and the corrupt. They like to feel like super heroes but then the game is designed to have lethal weapons that the player can use, which is fine, that’s a gamified action which doesn’t have to be canon. But when it does happen in the story I expect more, taking a life shouldn’t be as uneventful as changing clothes
7- Clothes
A- nobody cares what you wear once you buy pants B- changing your outfit doesn’t affect in any way the follower multiplier
When you start the game, right after your initiation, your first mission is to buy pants. People react to what you were wearing before, taking pictures and laughing at you. But that’s where it ends. Also when you buy your first set of clothes, your follower number (XP) rises, would be nice if it had some kind of multiplier tied to it. The only game I remember that went through with that was GTA San Andreas.

Tumblr media
No, I’m not a Ubisoft fanboy, in fact they piss me off sometimes. I signed up for The Division’s beta almost as soon as registrations were allowed but didn’t get a code. Which sure, I can see that you have a limited number of codes to give, but when it happens that you gave away codes to people that didn’t register, that’s when I get annoyed. I had to preorder the game to get in, I honestly was considering skipping the game entirely.
Thank you Ubisoft Montreal
Tumblr media
On the chance that someone from Ubisoft is reading this, I want to thank everyone that worked on this game. It was a lot of fun and looking forward to more of it.

I honestly despise the havok engine
and not just the SoulsBorne series
50 cent: bulletproof is honestly a good game held back by its bad physics
Alan Wake is great but the physics are wonky
Assassin's Creed's physics and walk cycles have always been awkward
Banjo Kazooie 5 is a RACING GAME with shitty physics (and shitty gameplay but that's not the point)
The Bioshock series has some questionable physics which is unfortunate because that's the only real flaw to them (other than Infinite but that's different)
Condemned Criminal Origins and Bloodshot are great horror games but goddamn physics bugs
Darksiders 2, the wonky buggy middle sibling
The Dead Space series HOLY SHIT ON A STICK BAD PHYSICS
Destiny? get out of here
Destroy All Humans, well, at least the shitty physics adds to the charm
Detroit Becoming Human? The physics are the LEAST of that "game"'s concern. Same with Heavy Rain which at least had marginally better storytelling.
Diablo 3 was so bad they literally replaced the entire fucking engine
Dota 2 is saved by being point and click
Oblivion and Skyrim do I even need to fucking say anything
Epic Mickey was amazing but Epic Mickey 2 was... honestly I didn't even know they made a sequel for years but I'm sure the physics sucked there too
Fallout 3 and New Vegas DO I EVEN NEED TO FUCKING SAY ANYTHING
Far Cry 2, 3, and 4 have the worst physics of the series
The F.E.A.R. series is good until the physics bugs happen
Half Life 2 do i even need to fucking say anything? for fucks sake just look at Garrys Mod
Halo 1 had great physics. Halo 2 and on, they suck ass in that department (like seriously, Monty Oum had to work his ass off to make custom everything even when they didn't /have/ to for plot reasons because they had too many issues.
Horizon Zero Dawn I haven't had the privilege to play yet but I've heard good things about the engine so hopefully Decima just took priority
The bad inFamous games, well, it was best they used Havok anyway
The relevant Just Cause games, wow
Kane & Lynch 1&2 aren't known for having good physics (or being good games either)
Killzone 1 had better physics than its sequels and that's really saying something
LA Noire, yeesh
The Last Of Us had a lot of physics bugs
Left 4 Dead 1&2, wow what a surprise another buggy Valve game
The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age has several weird recurring physics bugs in the same places regardless of which platform
Lost Planet has bad physics
Madworld had shit physics but luckily the art style of black and white and red all over made it so you couldn't really see it
Max Payne 1? Okay physics. Max Payne 2? 💩
Medal of Honor Frontline was the only early Medal of Honor game with good physics. Oh wow it's also the only Medal of Honor game WITHOUT HAVOK
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance... somehow Platinum made it work.
Mortal Kombat 9/10 had really bad physics compared to 11
Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising was supposed to be the greatest military shooter ever but it was so full of physics bugs that everybody who wanted to play the boring snooze fest was sorely disappointed
Painkiller much as I love it has bad physics
Perfect Dark Zero has bad physics (damn, Rare and Valve have bad physics in common)
Portal 1 & 2 actually don't have good physics because most of the jumps are scripted. I was able to tell the difference in Portal mods like Rexaura that didn't have scripted sequences
The Ratchet & Clank 1 remake was fucking terrible in the physics department
Resident Evil 5 took Resident Evil 4, tire out all the things that made it great, and then added a whole lot of dumb bullshit, including terrible physics
Saints Row literally markets itself as a shitty Grand Theft Auto but at least it's hilarious
Siren Blood Curse was an entire mess and the shitty physics were the least of its concern
Sly Cooper 4 has the worst physics of the franchise (and also the worst story)
Sonic '06, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Generations, Sonic Lost World, Sonic Forces, just. Egoraptor back me up here.
Soulcalibur 4 aka the one with Darth Vader and Yoda, was a big step down in the physics department despite being in the next console generation, but then again it was still better than Soulcalibur 5 aka the one with all new characters that everyone fucking hated so much that literally none of them are in Soulcalibur 6
Spiderman 2018 has many wonky physics bugs
Starcraft 2, luckily the physics bugs only happen on max detail and the game itself doesn't rely on physics anyway
Super Smash Bros Brawl aka everyone's least favore Smash Game because bad physics holy shit the only one that uses Havok
Team Fortress 2, GOD DAMN IT VALVE YOU ARE ON THIS LIST LIKE SEVEN TIMES
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, filled with wonky physics bugs
Tom Clancy had a dozen games (Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six) in the early to mid 2000s with terrible physics
Transformers War for Cybertron was SO GOOD and then Transformers Fall of Cybertron happened, crammed with physics bugs
Twisted Metal 2012, underwhelming and disappointing and buggy and Havok
Uncharted 1, great physics. Uncharted 2 and on were terrible in that regard. (What the fuck, Naughty Dog??? Jak and Daxter had better physics and that was a floaty nightmare)
Until Dawn wasn't so bad but then again Until Dawn like HZD uses Decima
Vanquish, the worst Platinum game, had bad physics
Watch Dogs 1 had bad physics
The Witcher 1? Okay. The Witcher 3? Amazing. The Witcher 2? PHYSICS BUGS ON HAVOK
Wolfenstein 2009 was terrible all around. Wolfenstein 2014 was amazing. Wolfenstein 2017 was also good but the physics bugs were prevalent. What the hell is with great games putting Havok in their sequels and fucking them up? Capitalism is destroying video games.
Worms 3D had the worst physics of the series but like. Worms is a 2D game. Don't break a good thing. The only thing that profited off of Worms 3D was Rooster Teeth.
The WWE games were all steaming hot piles of physics bugs
So like
What the fuck
Why are companies still using Havok
It's shit
It's terrible
And it's the worst part of otherwise flawless games

The Process Worked, Obviously
This post is brought to you with limited advertising and no surveys by I Do and I Will. Did you know the average wedding costs $35,329? What if there was a company that could help save couples 10%-20% on theirs? I Do and I Will has formed partnerships with leading companies such as Vera Wang, Southwest Airlines, Macy’s, Yacht Week, Visa, Sephora, and more to do just that. Check them out at the Bridal and Wedding Expo at the Valley Forge Convention Center on April 15 to find out more about their services.
It would have been nice for the Sixers to clinch that playoff berth with Saturday’s win, an opportunity for fans to cheer the home team while also providing a celebratory locker room moment.
Instead, by virtue of a goofy tiebreaker scenario, the franchise had to wait until Sunday, when the Pacers knocked off Miami in overtime to send your team, your town, your 76ers to the playoffs for the first time since the 2011/2012 lockout-shortened season.
Of course, we all know this means more than the 35-31 finish back then, an 8th seed triumph only made possible by a Derrick Rose ACL tear that leveled the first round matchup and allowed the Sixers to slide past Carlos Boozer and a bunch of role players. The conference semifinals didn’t require an asterisk, but an entertaining seven game series came to an end at the TD Garden with Rajon Rondo throwing up a triple-double against Andre Iguodala and company.
Everybody knows that this team is ten times better than the Doug Collins squad that went to the playoffs, and that the 2018 Sixers are well-positioned for the future with an infinitely higher ceiling. No disrespect to Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes, but this is different.
They’re over the hump at 42 wins and 30 losses with 10 games left to play. They will likely finish with the most victories in an 82-game season since Larry Brown’s final squad went 48-34 back in 2002/2003 before losing in the second round to the Detroit Pistons.
I don’t need to remind you how bad it’s been since then. The Sixers have been to the playoffs just five times in the past 14 seasons, losing in the first round four times:
If you started your Sixers fandom after the Larry Brown years or you’re somewhere in your early twenties, that chart above is probably the only thing you know.
They’ve turned the corner and will probably stay well beyond that corner for some time thanks to the Sam Hinkie-induced rebuild that netted a pair of generational superstars. He wanted to zig while others zagged, and here we are.
I asked Brett Brown after Saturday’s win if he experienced self-doubt at any moment during the Process era, the fear that his team might not get over that hump, or that he might not be here to see it.
He gave a pretty honest answer:
“Sure. You know, I live in reality. I’m the son of a coach and I’ve been doing this a long time and so did my father. From the day I was born, save four years ago, I’m the son of a coach. He’s 81 years old. So, I feel very much at peace with what we’re trying to do as an organization. We all come in here and you win or you lose but it’s way deeper than that to me. You’ve heard me say this all the time. And there’s an element of peace and grounding when you feel like the underbelly is moving in the direction you want. It gets a little bit rickety when you win 10 games or you lose 26 in a row, and every year I’ve coached here our first player chosen doesn’t play (due to injury). At some level, well, that’s a little bit of a juggling act.
But I’m proud of the locker room; the locker room has always been, for the most part, a tight locker room. The organization, behind (the scenes) stuff with our ownership, Scott (O’Neil), Bryan (Colangelo) has come in, Sam (Hinkie) did a hell of a job. I like what we’re doing. I like the direction we’re headed. There were some fragile moments, for sure. But never did I feel like we weren’t doing the right thing. To be validated a little bit – only because we’re winning – there’s some comfort there. There’s some comfort there.”
So the Process worked, but I think we had pretty much established that a few months ago. Sunday night’s playoff-clinching scenario only provided more ammunition for an argument that was already very easy to win.
The Sixers are in the playoffs with a pair of superstars, a #1 overall draft pick rehabbing for next season, and enough cap room to add a max free agent in the summer. Whether or not you agreed with the Process, I don’t think there’s any argument anyone can make to say this team was better off in 2012 or 2003, or the black hole of the Mo Cheeks and Eddie Jordan years. There just isn’t.
On the other hand, of course the Process worked. How could it not? When you purposefully hit rock bottom, the only direction you can really go is up. You can’t fall any further than 10 wins and 72 losses.
Give it enough time and you’ll stumble upon generational talent, which they did. Not every selection was a slam dunk. Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, and Michael Carter-Williams weren’t the guys. The reason the Process worked is because Hinkie embraced the tank and didn’t half-ass his way through it. The Sixers were all-in from the start, willing to part with guys who they knew just weren’t going to be good enough. And that’s the difference between the Sixers’ rebuild and the Orlando or New York rebuilds – one team really went for it while the others are still fumbling around in the dark, stuck in hardwood purgatory.
To that point, the Process really wasn’t anything more than a well-executed rebuild. Philly had the right person running the show, and four years of shit basketball was a drop in the bucket for Sixer fans that watched years of atrocious play long before Hinkie became the patron saint of bearded white hipsters.
Case in point, it was something like 2009 or 2010 when I started in the CBS 3 sports department, and I remember editing highlights of Jason Kapono and Sam Dalembert for our 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts. Talk about the halcyon days of Sixer hoops. Before that, it was Billie King and Ed Stefanski and Matt Geiger and Derrick Coleman. It was Chris Webber and John Salmons and years of trying to put the right pieces around Allen Iverson.
And before the good A.I. years, it was my dad watching on TV at home, frustrated with basically the entire decade of the 90s, a stretch that saw the Sixers miss the playoffs seven years in a row. He watched Armen Gilliam and Shawn Bradley and Trevor Ruffin and usually turned the game off in the 4th quarter.
That’s the thing with the Process; I don’t think you can judge it in a vacuum. I think you have to take into account everything that happened in the nonviable years leading up to it. It was necessary. This franchise needed to implode because other stuff just wasn’t working. Andrew Bynum didn’t work. Evan Turner didn’t work. Building around 28-year-old Andre Iguodala wasn’t going to work. This franchise needed to go four steps backward to take five steps forward.
That doesn’t mean that crotchety older fans don’t have a right to get back on the bandwagon. Like I said, bad basketball wasn’t exclusive to the Process era. Older Sixer fans have suffered just as much as millennials and for far longer. And don’t worry about the lazy national writers and dinosaur journos who had bad takes from five years ago; some actually did have a semblance of a point, I think… It’s not like tanking is the only path to becoming competitive in the NBA. Some teams stumble upon superstars without spiraling down the toilet. Hinkie correctly diagnosed the Sixers’ malaise and installed a custom-designed plan that fit this franchise perfectly.
Ultimately, the Process should be judged by the time period required to bring the Sixers to prominence. I don’t think four or five years is unreasonable for a total rebuild. If they missed on Joel Embiid or he never got healthy, or they kept kicking the can down the road without terminus, then yeah, maybe you could say the whole thing failed. But five years to go from utterly pedestrian to wildly enjoyable? Most people are gonna do that deal. The anti-Process people made it seem like Hinkie supporters were selling their souls to Mephistopheles or something similarly off-base and/or exaggerated. The neutrals among us just sort of sat there observing from afar.
The fact of the matter is that the Sixers are in the best position they’ve been in since the 1980s. That’s simply indisputable. And the reason they’re here is because they took the risk, identified what needed to be done, and blew it all to hell. In a city that just saw the Eagles win the Super Bowl for the first time ever (or the Phillies in 2008), I think everyone now understands the meaning of a championship, and Hinkie’s rebuild was crafted with that in mind. It wasn’t crafted to get the team into the playoffs. They could have kept Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel and cruised to a first-round 2/7 series loss.
No risk, no reward. That was the story of the Sixers from 1991 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2012. Same with the Eagles, who decided to gamble on a potential franchise quarterback and made a bunch of shrewd moves en route to the Lombardi Trophy. Not sure about you, but I admire the team that takes a chance and fails, much more than a team that doesn’t “need a fresh perspective,” like your Philadelphia Flyers.
I guess the point of all that rambling is this:
Whether you agreed or disagreed with the Process should be ultimately irrelevant. I think every Sixers fan has watched enough sad basketball to earn an automatic seat on the bandwagon.
This team is fun to watch, they’ve got tons of talent, and the ceiling is sky-high. It’s a hell of a time to be a fan, and I think everyone can at least agree on that.
