Beloved Tokyo vintage shop The Virgin Mary - the birthplace of Cult Party Kei, which lead to Dolly Kei & influenced countless Japanese fashion brands and designers - have announced they are closing the shop after a 17 year run. For the first four years they were know as Cult Party, then another thirteen years as The Virgin Mary. It's very sad news for many people in the Japanese fashion scene, since The Virgin Mary is one of the last shops holding together the scene from those days. Official Announcement on Instagram
Dress : Handmade ♡ Based on a LeFlacon dress
Hat : ahgdfhjgd actually an official One Piece merch that I modified
Gloves : Vintage
Shoes : MollyPolly on Taobao
Parasol : Angelic Pretty
I made a new dress based on my favorite LeFlacon dress (which is sadly starting to get really worn) and I'm so happy with the result. The peacock blue ribbon wasn't the initial color I had planned but it's actually so cute ♡ And unlike the og dress, it's in full cotton ♡♡♡
These pictures were taken on a cool (18°C) July day, when the only things reminding us of summer were the sunlight, the sky colour and the flowers. That day, I felt like dressing in autumn colours. Today, it's October 4th, but the temperature has reached 29°C, which is quite abnormal in Québec. Is it a bit concerning? Definitely. I guess it's once again my cue to encourage you to thrift durable things instead of buying new, at least, when you can. And durable means you can keep your loved things for a long time! I know we all have a big footprint on our poor planet, but we might as well try our best to reduce it in ways we can for the short time we are here.

You know how Eda wore coat hangers as earrings in the "Adventures in the Elements" episode of The Owl House? Rarely have I felt so represented in fiction. 🤣 Her whole "wear the biggest weirdest thing you find in the trash" aesthetic really speaks to me and meshes well with dolly kei, so I wanted to come up with a dolly kei outfit for her and Raine. The music notes on the back of Raine's jacket are based on the opening theme of The Owl House.
