I'm very very late on qsmp and catching up now so yet again here I am talking about something that happened a month ago. But. I'm HEARTBROKEN over this whole cellbit vs forever arc and how cellbit is trying to get into the federation like it is actually giving me anxiety but. While they were talking in a room to pretend that they were alright to get richarlyson back from quackity, forever said he found a book cucorucho wrote to cellbit and said "you really trust him??" and it was a binary code. Cellbit went VERY serious and translated the code... it said, in portuguese, "you are a fucking jerk" and I'm shitting tears from how much I'm laughing rn omfg they are so unseriousss they are in the middle of a hidden CUSTODY BATTLE OVER AN EGG and can't not crack jokes at each other for 5 minutes

actually I will say this. it fucking SUCKS that the devil to pay in the backlands only ever got the one very mediocre translation. it's a really good book, and a big part of why it was so groundbreaking is that it's written like the main character (a now old "cowboy") is talking to you, with all the slang and the colloquialism and even the made up words. and then this translation just fucking. NOT does that???
for example the very first word in the book is "nonada", a made up word meant as a mash of "não é nada" (it's nothing) all into one word. in the very first word you can see that this is a guy with a strong accent and very little formality in how he speaks to the listener/reader.
in the translation, it's just "it's nothing". no localization, no informality, no effort in translating the experience. sure you got the literal meaning translated right, but you threw away an entire side of the narrator's characterization!!
also it literally skipped a sentence where the narrator says he thought about holding and kissing his (guy) best friend when they were arguing. mediocre AND homophobic

Just saw the trailer for the new Disney's show "Oye, primos" and as a latina I can only say that I was too stunned to speak and I meant it in the worst way possible

I can't take Peter B antis who hate him based off Atsv seriously.Like man if you're gonna hate him why choose something as dumb as him being turned into comedic relief so Miles and Gwen could fully shine and not the plus ultra popular self-insertion of gringo and/or white Miguel simps into him because they can't fanthom a guy who's a pseudo-big brother to the afrolatino teen protag still sees latinos as people even if he wants to fuck them

what a wonderful day to remember that there are real actual people in the world who fit your "harmful stereotypes" to a T and they deserve safety, love, respect as human beings, and YES, representation, because even the most stereotypical mother fucker has more going on in their life than just that. a LOVELY day to remember that your dislike of stereotypes should be based in a lack of variety and a watering down of human experience or an active distaste for those being shown, not your own personal distaste of Those People. a MARVELOUS day to consider that many of the stereotypes which are held up as Degenerates who must be Erased by the bigots are, in fact, people we should be protecting and empowering, and that you should NOT BE AGREEING WITH THE BIGOTS ABOUT THEM NEEDING TO GO AWAY.
