Desiree Redesign

Yay, I finally finished my Desiree redesign. I leaned more into her humanity instead of her genie status, but I did want to give the same cuff imagery by putting the design along her dress’ wrist.

My main goal for my Desiree is to be able to actually pin-point where she originates. I chose to make her Palestinian as I wanted to use some embroidery patterns that are iconic from the culture. I will admit my ignorance when it comes to Palestinian history, but I believe I would have my Desiree to be alive during the Early Ottoman Ruling of Palestine, which would be around 1683 AD.

I want to visually show Desiree’s rebellious nature in her outfit. Her dress isn’t as long as her tail makes it out to be. Her veil does cover her hair, but you can still clearly see it because of how loose her veil is. Despite everything that has happened, Desiree still loves her culture.

I changed her OG color scheme(blue and purple) to red and purple as a visual hint as to what her personality/ultimate goal is.

For those who are curious:

My Desiree’s ultimate goal is to gain enough power to grant her own wish. Despite the front she puts up, Desiree doesn’t fully understand how her powers work, thus uses humans as test subjects to see what can/can’t be done with particular word choices.

What is Desiree’s wish?

Well, I actually don’t want to change much of Desiree’s origins. Mainly, I want to make her an authentic depiction of a harem girl. However, my Desiree wasn’t apart of the Sultan’s harem, but his wife’s.

Harem’s of influential women were usually personal servants/ under personal protection. However, a romantic relationship developed between Desiree and the wife(I swear I will give this woman a proper name along with her own redesign someday).

Desiree was transparent about she wanted: To run away together to a place where they can exist in peace. She was always the optimist of the two, the dreamer who would pray to the stars for a day their plan could become real. You can only imagine what Desiree felt when the Wife suddenly banished her without even saying goodbye.

And thus Desiree’s story continues on like her OG counterpart. She manifests a ghostly form that can grant wishes, adopting the perception of being a genie as a way seem more legitimate.

She powers is manipulate ectoplasam to take properly take form(to explain how Danny is able to suck these ‘wishes’ into the thermos). Desiree can’t manipulate time, but she can manipulate memories to make it seem like she truly did.

My Desiree wants to wish to meet the Wife again. It seems no matter how Desiree tricks humans into helping her, she can’t seem to find the Wife.

It's Dani! I like redesigning characters sue me

I really wanted her design to have more visual indications of her instability, cause I imagine having a ghost half that is constantly in a state of breaking down would have some effects on her human half as well. Like her core is trying to stabilize itself and causes a sort of infection by trying to use the energy from her human half which inadvertently throws things off balance even more.

Thoughts on each design past the break

Human half: I wanted it to be obvious at first glance that she's not quite right or put together, so parts of her hair is white, and one of her eyes has turned green. I also thought it would be cool if her human form constantly has that red-pupil camera effect since it has a bit of a creepy connotation. I also added some skin discoloration/scars, and carried over the ears and fangs from her ghost form. Another very small detail I added was having her shoelaces untied to further make her appear unkempt/unstable.

Ghost half: Her human half doesn't affect her ghost half as much as the opposite, but her eyes with the black sclera is blue rather than green, I basically just switched the herochromia. Her skin should be a more vibrant blue/green in good health, rather than the uneven dull green caused by her instability, and of course the splotches of human skin tone shouldn't be there. For her ghost costume, I wanted it to seem more like a transformation of the clothes she already wears (hoodie, big pants, gloves, sneakers) since she didn't have a hazmat portal incident like Danny. I felt like pushing her asymmetrical design and making it a bit messy/unrefined would also be a good visual que to her instability. And lastly, I just really wanted to get rid of the crop-top, wide hip, lipstick, & eyeliner thing from the original bc that comes across as weird to me since she's supposed to be like 12.

Both a redesign for funsies and for imagining what the trio would look like when they’re a little bit older! Was fighting for my life trying to choose a shape for Tucker’s head oh my god, translating designs in my style can be an uphill battle and it is definitely not for the weak. Thoughts behind the design below!

DANNY: For my style for this, I decided pupils normally are lighter than the eye’s base color (‘cause it looks pretty) but since Danny is Schrödinger’s fav mystery, he’s got the reverse! His pupils are actually darker than the base color. Plus, space nerd gets the space jacket. And overall, keeping him grey and blue and cool, with a grey tinted shadows (while everyone is a bit warmed) and the blush thingy I do as another nod to him being a spooky. That and faint scars from battle.

TUCKER: was fighting for my life trying to translate his curved head shape in my style without wanting to gnaw off my own arm. Took away the hat and gave him classic cornrows instead, but kept the color by having him dye his hair. Button down instead of the yellow shirt, changed up his glasses, and boom! Fav primary colored lad. Still might change him a bit later on.

SAM: Easiest to do oh my god. Head shape? Got lucky it went well. Changed up her outfit slightly, gave her some bleached eyebrows, more piercings and cut her hair. Feels all like things she would definitely do, favorite design thus far.

ALL: Their ears are all pierced because they all got one piercing together! Danny’s fine with just the ones and never takes them out. Sam has plenty, and Tucker is currently vibing with two at a time and has a few different pairs. I like to think he’d incorporate some of kind of tech in one pair eventually.

I really liked the idea of half-ghost Jason, so I did my take on a design for him 😀

Unlike Danny, Jason's halfa mode is closer to Vlad since the death and rebirth didn't happen at the same time.

It looks more like what the person wants to project as vibe?

The spectral cloak was initially there look more ghostly, but then my brain cooked up the idea that it acted almost like a bunch of whiskers, sensing ectoplasm or potential threats around him (like an octopus, idk if it's funny or cursed 😅)

Jason would probably use (maybe abuse a bit) of his ghostly powers after Danny somehow purified the Lazarus waters in his system (Danny, head in his hands : I didn't mean to perform accidental halfa creation).

The Bats are not having a good time. There is someone killing off criminal left and right in Crime Alley and the culprit is extremely efficient and clearly trained.

No sign of entry at the crime scene. Not even a spec of dirt left behind.

Crime Alley has become suspiciously calm recently.

They whisper about a boogeyman, a red ghost.

Princess Dorathea

Hey, y'all. I drew @dnpanimationstudioclone Dora in my style while adding my own personal ideas.

Yep, there she is. However, this is what I imagine what she looks like when she can take off her veil and makeup:

She wears a veil not purely modesty, but to properly hide her horns and sensors(ears). I always pictured she also has to wear face powder to hide her scales.

Well, there it is, my first dragon drawing! I wasn't sure if there was really much I could change about her dragon form. I made her stay green. She doesn't have eyebrows, but I gave her those bumps to give the illusion of them. Here's a size comparison her her human form:
