Darla Records should not be seen as one of those labels for wannabe radicals that get a lot of press. No, some in there are quite audacious, though the format of my posts doesn't really offer us more insight than that. However, allow me to introduce you to Japancakes, another Darla Records band. They were mad enough to cover the entirety of Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. This is not a joke, they actually went to a studio, though they did something intriguing, i.e. Japancakes' soundscapes are different from My Bloody Valentine, so they changed the record. For better? Let us set aside this debate, let me just say they did put the tunes in the venues Shields & the rest didn't even plan to reach – should this be seen as the best way to remake an LP?

Thinking about Eric ending Wild Uncharted Waters on a clearly sailing ship...after his mom grounded him. I'm forced to believe that while singing: he waltzed on a ship going back towards where the last ship got wrecked to find his girl, but a local fisherman ratted on him immediately, so the Queen sent a faster boat to stop the ship and bring his sorry lovesick ass back to shore.

Dark Horse and Yoe Books are publishing Cartoonists Against Racism: The Secret Jewish War on Bigotry, which tells the story of how, in the 1940s and 50s, a Jewish organization enlisted some of America’s cartoonists on a nationwide campaign against bigotry. The campaign aimed to flood America’s papers, classrooms, and union halls with anti-racist comics and cartoons.
Cartoonists Against Racism is authored by Holocaust scholar Dr. Rafael Medoff and comics and cartooning historian Craig Yoe. Professor Susannah Heschel provides the forwards. Cartoonists featured in the book includes Bill Mauldin, Vaughn Shoemaker, Carl Rose, Mischa Richter, Frank Hanley, Robert Osborn, Dave Berg, Willard Mullin, Bernard Seaman, Mac Raboy, and Eric Godal.
Cartoonists Against Racism: The Secret Jewish War on Bigotry goes on sale in bookstores on November 28, 2023, and in comic shops on November 29, 2023.

13 Sign Resources - Pisces
With permission from Kim Lovelace herself, I will share with you all here directly the 13-sign info that's been most helpful for me in creating and navigating Deep Soul Astrology/Fate Weaver Astrology. All of the signs resources with the title "13 Signs Resources" can be found on the same website. I put them altogether here for easier access. First will be from Kim Lovelace, second from the late Eric Seligson (her mentor and friend), and last from Walter Berg, whose chart we use in astroapp.com.
Kim Lovelace
Pisces ~ March 12 to April 18
Tough being an Aries? No wonder. True Pisces is an old soul and a diva with way too much empathy and perception. Inside a secret world, Pisces is in a reverie that expresses all human experience going back to the primordial fishes, and Pisces is the pool of sensuality and the bitter dregs of wretched excess. Of all human experience, (and they are great mimics of it) the Pisces most feels the sorrow and melancholia of those who are at the bottom of the food chain--and all helpless creatures. Pisces has ways to survive in a hostile ocean; quiet murmuration with the school to erode all boundaries to love; hide and find a safe personal hidey-hole; OR grow teeth and eat your enemies before they eat you.
Eric Seligson
PISCES, THE EMPATH (ETA PISCIUM)
MARCH 12 - APRIL 18
This position increases that side of human nature that belongs to feeling, emotion, and sensation and makes these active and important in their character. Pisces are able to sympathize with others, and are naturally humane, charitable, and helpful to those who are in trouble or sick. Pisces is Neptune, the masses. Many Pisces find themselves as care givers, or offering succor to people who can emotionally drain them. Enmeshment and loss of boundaries is a day-to-day occurrence with Pisces. If you have a hidey-hole, an escape door, or can physically dump the toxins that others leave in you, you can re-emerge strengthened with your truly awesome unconventional love. A Pisces who feels trapped and restricted is as helpless as a goldfish in a bowl. Yet the temptation, like all other losses of identity and avoidance of conflict, is too great, and the Pisces will succumb to a dominator or protector to make their choices easier.  A sure sign that you are being victimized by bullies or tyrants is depression and dependance on escapism, avoidance, or medication, drugs, alcohol, etc. Worst case scenario is the Pisces who yearns for an out of body experience to escape the chronic infections they can't deal with.  Those Pisces who avoid being netted or have leapt out of the trap can usually manipulate their way to power, and can find themselves as entertainers, actors, singers and working in the entertainment business. Since they are natural mimics and very talented in their own right, Pisces have no trouble acquiring the skills necessary to bedazzle, bemuse, or bewitch their audiences. One has only to google how many (13-sign) Pisces are famous for their art, to see how they dominate this field.
They are easy-going, adaptable, and the perfect host, but they can be taken advantage of easily, by everybody and anybody, anytime. Pisces are too open to suggestion when young, and are often damaged for it. Their ONLY CHANCE at real success is the reversal of roles. The Pisces can turn the tables on their tormentors and become a diva --even a prima donna-- in his or her own right. They can emotionally control the people and the environment around you and can avoid being bullied by them as long as you please them. It's the story of Scheherazade, who avoids death with 1,000 stories to charm her tormentor. Using her skills to manipulate his feelings, she used passive aggression to meet the threat of death. If they don't mold people into the people they want around them, who are good to them--they will mold YOU to suit their needs, and abuse you.
It's really that simple, unless they can live as an emotional manipulator and embittered wannabe, there is really no mid-way, no balance, it's a tightrope and they are guaranteed to fall one way or the other. If they entirely act by instinct, they will be swallowed up and lose themselves to the mass, as a catalyst for the greater need and eternity. If they wait and prevaricate without direction, all will be lost, and they will be captured and dominated. Their only hope is to resolve to make what they want happen by acting on only those decisions which will ultimately help them find their path and stay on it. To find this path, they must acknowledge and act upon the guidance of their Moon's Nodes and what insights they can get from astrology, philosophy, psychology, and politics, or any other other field that does not limit their imagination (which is death for them). Intellectual understanding can root them in the real Universe, and make their powers enormous and viral. The evolved Pisces is a gifted leader, whom people follow blindly, not out of fear, or even respect--but returning to themselves the pure love that they have given.
The message to ALL Pisces is: find your thing, whatever it is, and do it with all your heart and soul--and force them to come to you, as if from a wellspring which they may drink. This is the DIVA.
From the book of Pisces:
"Pisces’ Neptune represents the mysterious subconscious. Quiet, fleeting emotions emanate from Pisces like mist from an ethereal lake, or sometimes furiously, like snow flurries in a blizzard. Pisces can reveal their agitation by roiling the emotions of others, and it is easy to engage and involve the unwary. Pisces' lovers become hopelessly dependent and possessive about Pisces, and try to domesticate and deconstruct the essence of Pisces’ emotions. Yet these are shrouded in an impenetrable Neptunian fog that erodes the barrier between the subconscious and the conscious. Everything is an illusion but for the moment. Love and music help Pisces feel joy, connection, lust, power, and, of course, sorrow. Pisces abandons itself in abandonment. Anyone watching Pisces run the gamut of emotions finds it overwhelming and excruciatingly intimate. The only connection that Pisces cans fully trust is love, and as that ethereal quality is only for the dreamers, then Pisces dreams on and on."
Walter Berg
EXTRACT OF SUN SIGN PERSONALITIES  FROM WALTER BERG'S THE 13 SIGNS OF THE ZODIAC
THE TRUE PISCES
1st Sign of the Zodiac / 12 March – 18 April
Ruling Planets: Neptune & Jupiter
Element: Water
Quality: Mutable
Best Signs for Love: Aries, Leo, (Libra, Aquarius)
Personality
The vast expanse and hidden depths of the boundless oceans represent the fluid and changing nature of the True Piscean. You are emotionally very sensitive and can even sense the feelings of others. Some have called this gift you have 'empathic'; it is so strong that you are said to possess a sixth sense. Let us be honest. True Piscean, you bear little resemblance to your traditional Star Sign profile: Selfish, aggressive and quick tempered. How could anyone have said such things about some one as sensitive and receptive to others needs as you are? The True Pisces replaces one Star Sign (Aries) as well as keeping almost one third of 'old Pisces'. Jupiter, one of your ruling planets, represents the life principles of expansion and growth, complementing your True Piscean sensitivity. Neptune (your other ruler) is the god of the ocean and of the underworld waterways and influences you in the most subtle ways through a process of refining and reflecting, giving you clarity of vision.
The True Pisces is now the first Star Sign of the Zodiac and not the 12th/13th. This is important to you. Being first and not last enhances your self confidence and self esteem. Come on, True Piscean, you have much self worth and can now go for it in a big way. You are adaptable and able to enjoy variety. Enjoying variety does not make you restless or fickle, as your traditional Star Sign may have indicated. No way! Being involved in many different activities and projects, enjoying a wide range of cultural and sporting interests, (as you always have done but were afraid to admit to), makes you a very interesting person.
Your easy going nature attracts others to you. Friends who need a shoulder to cry on will inevitably come to you. You have a kindness, sympathy and depth of compassion not matched by any other Star Sign. You possess an inner strength but you can, if you are caught off guard, be moved to tears. It is said that you cannot bear the suffering of others. Through your empathic powers you do actually feel and share the suffering of those in anguish, whether physical or emotional. You are more than a witness, and this is why you recoil as you register others despair.
Your empathic power leads you into the world of the psychic. Yes, your interest in the mystical and psychical can now be explained in the light of your True Star Sign, and this may come as a shock to you. All those leanings you have felt towards transcendentalism and mysticism and your interest in astrology (which has been there all the time) are understandable. You no longer need to feel uncomfortable about it! Be yourself! Go with your mystical feeling and explore worlds that others can only dream of, or have no conception of at all.
The two fishes of Pisces are joined together and are pulling in opposite directions – typical of the dual nature of the True Piscean. There are numerous references in the New Testament to fishes and the positive teachings of all antiquity – love, self reunification and service to others – are embodied in them. You are, indeed, a combination of paradoxes and opposites. You are fishing among lots of alternatives and searching for vision and a mystical connection.
Your enigmatic behaviour may appear bizarre to others, but to you everything is relative. Your double edged approach often allows you to see both sides of an argument, and this ability breeds tolerance. It is good that fanaticism is alien to you – if only more of the ruthless characters from history had been true Pisceans, wars, territorial claims and bigotry could not have occurred. This wide viewpoint does not judge. You appear to be indifferent. You fail to take a stance even when abuse is thrown at you. Issues that are important to others can never be taken too seriously by you, because you have knowledge, through your gift of empathy, of all aspects of an issue. You appreciate the beauty of the whole crystal in your hand, where others see just one surface at a time. Your lack of worldliness is compensated for by your inner life and imagination. You have no limits. Many great creative scientists, composers and artists were True Pisceans. Your imagination, like the ocean, seems boundless. You hold the secret of life and the key to the unconscious: this is why you sometimes have a problem coping with reality. You tend to over look simple things; not paying a utility bill, leaving the oven switched on until the meal burns, letting the care insurance expire, etc.. The idea of being limited, trapped in a human body, is irritating to the True Piscean.
Your instinctive nature makes you take decisions spontaneously rather than taking a careful approach and planning your actions. However, you are a safe, solid person whom others rely on. You will always be there for others and your boundless world of dreams rather than reality will endear you to others.
Some time ago I was at a loose end. A True Piscean friend of mine suggested, on the spur of the moment that we head out into the country for the afternoon. 'Sounds good to me.' I said. We took my car and left around noon. About 30 miles outside of the city we passed an empty car parked by the road side. My True Piscean friend asked me to stop. I pulled over. 'What's the matter?' I asked. But I could see the expression on her face, looking into the distance, almost trance like and I knew something was wrong. 'I have a feeling.' She replied. We both walked towards the parked car and I was shocked to see the driver slumped over the passenger seat, unconscious! He had fallen from view. I rushed back to my car and phoned for an ambulance while my friend administered first aid. The driver had suffered a heart attack! He is fine now, but had my True Piscean friend not been with me, he may not have survived. This is what I am talking about when I say you are instinctive and that other people, even strangers, can rely on you.

📽️ King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
I know some people didn’t like this movie because it doesn’t really follow the legends of King Arthur much. It’s also a different style from any other King Arthur-based movie I’ve ever seen, so that may have something to do with it, too. However, I really enjoyed this movie. It’s definitely a different take, but I think it works. And there’s a fight scene at the end that is absolutely beautiful. I mean, it was breathtaking.
Sex/nudity: 2/10 (some semi-nude prostitutes and sirens)
Language: 4/10 (from IMDb: “3 uses of f*** (1 heard out loud, 1 mouthed silently and 1 said softly but not fully heard as it is blocked by fighting) but the first one is heard clearly.” There is also other milder language)
Violence: 5/10 (some very intense fighting with blood and death with some being fairly graphic)
Overall rating: 8/10

TALK RADIO (1988) Grade: C+
Surprised I haven't seen this Oliver Stone film. Interesting how they did it mostly in real time. Eric Bogosian has been underrated forever it feels like. Found out after it was based off the life of a Denver radio host in the 80s.
