rewatching eureka, on episode 1x04 and i gotta say — Fargo Taggart Spencer and Vincent is such an odd group of people to have a weekly movie night together… like even if Taggart wasn’t there it would be more believable. I understand that they were just the available male supporting cast for this but it’s so strange to think about in-universe

How does Otto and Elinor's relationship change once she's pregnant, and when she has a son?

OH MAN. SO MUCH CHANGES.

I'll start with when Elinor gets pregnant.

When she tells him the truth, he is immediately wary, because all of their previous attempts have been unsuccessful (for a gd reason but anyway) and he assumes that she is lying to him and trying pass off a bastard as a Hightower.

However, once he realizes (I think Alicent probably says something that gives him that eureka moment) that this child is his, he is elated. He is more affectionate and loving with her than he has ever been, although he is admittedly a little suspicious.

Otto is still a misogynist so he doesn't give Elinor too much free reign until he knows whether it's a boy or not, but he involves her in the politics of the realm, the ideas looming in his head, and even though Elinor isn't allowed to go on daily rides or walk about the keep without an escort, she finds herself excelling at politics and Otto actually heeding her ideas for once.

(it's just a shame this happens like the day before the events of 1x04)

And as for when they finally have a son...idk if this is in character and it's def subject to change, but this is what I have in mind cause I got to give the guy some redeeming qualities.

Because here's the thing, Otto already has two kids, he already has a son, but he's also seen childbirth take many lives, especially the lives of previously hale and healthy women (Aemma among them).

He's heard of the fertility of the Tully women, but when he actually sees Elinor give birth to their son, it reaffirms his conviction of remarrying, which he had originally questioned when he first married Elinor.

It reinforces the belief that this was the correct choice, and Otto...is now putty in Elinor's hands.

It's actually kind of sad, because while Alicent is on the throne and Gwayne is Commander of the city watch, Otto sees his son with Elinor as the first child he can truly raise without pushing any expectations or ambitions on him. Most of his ambitions have been realized at this point, so he starts treating his son like an actual child.

And Elinor is finally starting to be taken seriously in the household as Lady Hightower instead of the young girl she used to be. Otto is giving her more tasks to handle, trusting her to play politics and be the guiding hand for House Hightower while he raises the son.

It's very strange because the gender dynamics almost shift, and Elinor gains more power.

As their son gets older, obviously Otto tries to place more of his ambitions on his shoulders (particularly with consolidating power in the reach) but he's honestly truly grateful to Elinor for allowing him to be just a father for a brief moment of his life.

We thought we were just about following the breadcrumb trail they were leading us down but then the last 5 seconds had us listing all the different words for confusion. Bewildered. Befuddled. Puzzled. Flabbergasted. Dumbfounded. (We watched half this ep last week but my mate had to go help a ewe who was lambing. 🐑)

Ugly Betty (rw with mum) 3x17 Sugar Daddy

The Suarez family are threatened by eviction and have to buy the house to be able to stay. Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina apply for a government bailout to save Mode.

I remembered when Betty got the cheque that Matt was secretly wealthy but I don't really remember him in it much so I don't think that bodes well for them, or could be my memory tbf. And I want more scenes between Wilhelmina and Claire. The two sharpest rich bitches in all of New York.

Loudermilk (with mum) 1x01 A Girl in Trouble is a Temporary Thing

Under threat of losing his weekly meeting space, surly substance abuse counselor Sam Loudermilk (Ron Livingston) must try to make a connection with a young addict.

I first thought the flatmate was gonna be the ghost of an old friend, not really there. But multiple people interacted with him so that's out. He was a stereotypical asshole that will hopefully become more well-rounded as we watch. (sister recommended)

Eureka (rw) 2x13 A Night in Global Dynamics (s2 Finale)

A flesh eating virus has infected Global Dynamics, and the building goes into a security protocol that endangers everyone's lives.

I didn't remember Henry being evil but was still relieved that he wasn't helping Beverly and was using her to protect Kevin. Carter and Stark being reluctant besties was sweet. And ofc Jo saved the day because for a town full of geniuses, very few of them have any common sense lol.

YES YES YES. So much.

I’ve been a defender of the “Clarke is in love with Bellamy too since....forever” for FREAKING YEARS NOW and people just don’t.... they don’t believe it.

People are always asking when it will happen and, truth is, they won’t get to see it cause they don’t wanna read Clarke as she is. If anyone thinks back to her relationships... you’ll see what I’m (we’re) talking about. Clarke is way less louder about her feelings. Even with Finn, which had the “first love” vibe, she froze him out for so long. He flirted with her, she smiled back.... it was basically on 1x04 that we got to see her act full on her feelings for him. And after that, she still had feelings for him and she still was way less loud about it than he was - and he was on a relationship. And again, this was when Clarke was way more open, this is pre “love is weakness”.

But truth is, there has been signs all the freaking long that Clarke has feelings for Bellamy. And that she’s trying to shut it down (2x09 is the biggest one of all, 2x16 too.). And people are openly ignoring those.

IDK if it’s because it’s a m/f relationship (because all stories do tend to make the guy fall first, but i had experience in fandoms where the other way around happened ) or if it’s because of how it’s much easier to connect Bellamy’s actions with his emotions.

Clarke was the one who started almost everything between Clarke and Bellamy (”I need you”, “[i forgive you]”,“I trust you”, “I can’t lose you”, “i’m sorry”, ALL of the hugs. ALL Clarke). Clarke is action.

And she is usually the one who pushes their relationship forward, not Bellamy.

And i feel like this is why we are stuck right now on season 4. Because Clarke could say and do all those things before, because it was easier to shut her feelings out. Or maybe her love for him wasn’t so clearly romantic for her before so she could do and say things without struggling with them. Or because she was indeed, very true to her character, acting and saying things before letting herself what she was feeling and why.

But she’s stuck this season. Feels like she’s tied, whenever she’s gonna interact with Bellamy something is off - not because she doesn’t have the feelings- but because she doesn’t end the things she started. It’s the list she makes and doesn’t talk to Bellamy about it, it’s her saying he’s special and looking away (Clarke NEVER LOOKS AWAY, Bellamy is the one who does- and btw she’s doing it a lot this season), it’s the grand gestures she makes and that never get freaking closure. And we aren’t getting conversations about it, cause the one person who starts them all isn’t starting them.

(why am i having this eureka moment today what the heeeck)

It has come to point where, in this season, it’s Bellamy saying “if i’m on that list, you’re on that list” and “you got it backwards”. It’s Bellamy who puts his hand on her shoulder, and yeah that’s it. Because that’s how Bellamy works, he’s lowkey in “action” when it comes to her feelings.

If you think back to all the “physical” interactions Bellarke ever had, when Bellamy was the one who started it, it was a hand hold (1x07, 3x05),a “taking her hair from her face” (3x02), a “giving you the chip in your mouth” (3x16) ). That’s what Bellamy do, everything else was started by Clarke. And we aren’t getting more physical interaction because Clarke isn’t starting that either .

It makes so much sense im screaming

And, thing is, while everyone reads this as Bellarke going backwards, they might have been reading it completely wrong? Cause every single thing we got this season has proven over and over that Clarke chooses Bellamy, she thinks of him, she hurts when he hurts, she goes where he goes, she makes plans so that she can save him over and over and over. Every single things we got this season makes me think that Clarke’s feelings for Bellamy are louder than they’ve ever been, and the way she’s acting about it (sneaking glances all the freaking time, averting eyes, crying when confronted about her feelings) makes me think that she is finally realizing what is happening with her. And she’s scared as heck (+ a million other complicated feelings like worry about the apocalypse and mourning L).

And she’s recoiling.

And we are all feeling it
