what do you think about the kaeya = caribert theory? i saw some people use it as an 'explanation why his skin is dark' like. oh he used to be a Monster and the skin is a remnant of it :) and it pissed me off so bad. i need to know what other people think about it

its honestly not a theory im super fond of i think its a little stupid no offense. i dont think it makes a lot of sense? to go super in depth i'd have to take another look at the caribert quest (and maybe read up on the khaenri'ah lore we have so far again) but i kinda feel like it establishes pretty firmly that kaeya couldnt be caribert. descended from that branch of the family maybe (though im more fond of the theory that kaeya is descended from the branch of alberichs that were actually being regents, something that chlothar wasnt involved in because he distanced himself from the rest of the family to look after his son) (makes sense that kaeya would know more about the alberichs being the regents in khaenri'ah than he knows about an alberich being the founder of the abyss order) (theres a post about it i reblogged it some time ago and it hasn't left my mind since) but like.. him actively being caribert? sounds.. honestly really dumb to me.. don't ask me how kaeya isnt (or at least doesn't seem to be) affected by any curse, be it monsterification or immortality, but i just feel like that isnt the explanation. the actual explanation could be related to the events in caribert though.. cant wait for them to tell us what it actually is lol. on the off chance that this fucking theory is true then ill just bite my tongue i guess but i know im right. ok now moving on to the elephant in the room. what kind of take even is thatttttt "thats why his skin is dark"what is bro talking about🔥🔥‼️ if i read that with my own two eyes id block a person SO fast. why would you say that and treat it as serious evidence and backing for your theory. thats just. racism basically. what. anyways kaeya whos half from sumeru supremacy

Jeff finding out you're pregnant

Jeff has always been firm on the notion that he does not want kids

He thinks kids are annoying and gross and stinky

And there's also some insecurity of him not being able to be a good dad, considering his job, his upbringing, even his appearance

All around, kids are a firm no for him

So when you begin experiencing morning sickness he kind of just denies the very possibility that you could even get pregnant

But you, being at least a little more reasonable than him, decides its better safe than sorry and goes out to buy a test

When you get back, you inform him that you're gonna take the test just to be sure to which he straight up laughs

"You won't need it, because I can tell you right now you're not pregnant"

And so, after a few minutes of waiting anxiously after taking the test, you look at the results and see....a positive

A hand goes to your stomach, the tears already streaming down your face

Jeff, who decided he would wait with you snatches the test and does several takes

He's honestly just speechless, he didn't even really think he could get anyone pregnant, which may have just been wishful thinking on his part

He looks at you, and you look at him

Your face is one of pure joy, and his is a mix of confusion, fear and disgust

"We aren't keeping it, right?" He asks after looking at your face for a while

You frown and smack his arm "jeff! How could you even suggest that?!"

"We aren't prepared for a kid! We've never even talked about it! Not to mention, what kind of life would that kid have?? Growing up in a house full of murderers and monsters, the kid's guaranteed to be fucked in the head!"

It’s hard to tell though because he never really says how he feels out loud, like I doubt you even are aware he considers you as a friend unless you confident/observant as hell or sth happened that both of you had to clarify for the sake of your friendship.

Unfortunately as we all know with the fucking friends to lovers trope drama, you cant just admit you like Hanzo that way, cus what if he doesnt sees you that way and it ruins your friendship and makes everything btw u??? Except…some kinda weird things have been going on with Hanzo and Genji? Except, you do know Japanese. You didn’t exactly inform Hanzo or Genji of it because it seemed really entertaining to have them have these supposedly private Japanese conversations OUT LOUD without realising there were people who understood what they were saying. I mean, if it was a really sensitive thing they should be speaking behind closed doors right? Like cmon lol.

Usually, whenever the Shimada brothers talk to each other in Japanese, they would exchange some form of wit or ridiculous reference to their past (like that time Genji tried to cajole Hanzo into joining the DDR contest during one of the weekly game night sessions, until Hanzo said he still has pictures of Genji’s 16th Birthday Party Incident in Japanese. Ngl you were a lil curious what the incident was, but its likely some form of embarrassing blackmail).

However THIS TIME, it was completely different. You were chilling with a few other overwatch members plus Hanzo and Genji in the recreation room. Cue your surprise when Genji decided to ask Hanzo in Japanese:

“Sooooo…have you confessed your feelings yet, brother?”

Im sorry HANZO?? HAS FEELINGS FOR SOMEONE????? Thank god they weren’t really focusing on you that much otherwise they would have noticed your body tense a little at that. You don’t know exactly how to feel about this because this can either spell sth great or very bad for you, but most likely bad because what are the chances…right?

Hanzo predictably flushes a little, scowling even harder. If you didn’t know any better you would probably have thought that the archer was pissed at Genji about something instead of being embarrassed (tho i mean when has hanzo never been annoyed at genji lol)

At Hanzo’s expression, Genji sighed out loud. “You do realise you can’t stew on your feelings forever-“

“I can if I want to and that is my decision to make, not yours.” Hanzo hissed back. Genji, unbothered by the interruption, continued:

Their reactions were priceless. The moment you spoke up in Japanese had the two Shimada brother halt their conversation to look at you in shock. Hanzo in particular had a myriad of expressions too entertaining to watch.

Hanzo practically went through an entire rollercoaster of emotions when you interrupted. Shock at you speaking Japanese, horror when he realised you spoke Japanese and understood it which meant you were able to listen through their conversation this entire time, until he processed the part on you liking him back which turned into a mix of joy, relief, embarrassment…yea rip Hanzo lol.

Genji meanwhile was trying so hard not to laugh because holy sheet your timing was excellent.

He had to shake Hanzo a bit to get him out of a daze, and gestured at him to ask you out. Hanzo gets his wits back after, glares at Genji because he’s such a lil shit. He then glanced at you briefly before looking away all flustered. “So uhhh…I’ll pick you for dinner at 7pm later?”

You gave him you biggest smile and agreed. That was the start of your beautiful romance with Hanzo, albeit with a mildly embarrassing start but hey, you guys got together since then. :3

So I was thinking about Mettaton, and something hit me

Mettaton Neo has a very angelic design. I may be stretching it, but considering what a certain other angel looks like

The resemblance is very much there. Mettaton's Ex and Neo forms look far more human than anything or anyone in the underground, including Frisk themselves during the Genocide run. Mettaton Neo is specifically a form used in a last case scenario to stop you. Now depending on how you view the Neo form, this can probably mean a few things. My two cents is that its Mettaton trying to keep himself and you fooled. Mettaton first and foremost is a showman. He's a TV star, and even if he may no longer have an audience, there's no way he's going off air lying down.

Now why would this relate to his Neo form resembling the Angel? Well he's bluffing, whether intentionally or not he is bluffing. He can't beat you, and deep down I think he knows too. The best he can do is stall for time to get as many people out and evacuated as possible, to inspire hope. Its why he stays in the underground, and its what he's good at: inspiring. It doesn't have the full meaning of Mettaton's heroic sacrifice to help people, as instead of an Angel to save the Underground, Spamton is that Angel of Death in Undertale's prophecy (in the Snowgrave route anyway). Like Mettaton, Spamton also uses the visage of an Angel to achieve a goal, but no matter what route it is its a dark perversion of Mettaton's goals. Mettaton wanted to inspire the Underground and achieve his dreams, trying to stall and kill Frisk to either save them from Asgore, or save the survivors from You. Spamton wanted his freedom and attacks and tries to kill Kris for their soul so he can be free. He also assists in the Snowgrave route, being an accomplice to many many deaths for 15 minutes of fame. This idea is more properly conveyed in the last parts of Big Shot with the use of Power of Neo. Oh yeah this was a Mettaton analysis whoopsie Ok so I know this was a Mettaton Neo thing at the start but man I just wanted to gush and gush about Mettaton cuz man I really can't get enough of him. He's the only one of two characters in Undertale to directly have connections with the Angel prophecy when it isn't just the Delta Rune itself, he inadvertantly saved the Underground because he's what made Alphys get the Royal Scientist posi--OH WAIT YEAH THATS SOMETHING I CAN TALK ABOUT OK SO SIDE TANGENT METTATON UNINTENTIONALLY SAVED THE UNDERGROUND AND I FIND THAT REALLY REALLY COOL! Because Alphys used Mettaton as a project to show to Asgore to become the Royal Scientist, this let Alphys work on the amalgamates and also create Flowey. Without Flowey, the barrier wouldn't have broken and no one would have been freed. Yes I know this isn't all solid since Mettaton didn't somehow cause 6 random kids fall down but you get the idea. Mettaton transitioning saved the world totally I NEED MORE METTATON AUS GRHEYCGDHWUDYGHJWYDH IM GOING TO GO FERAL!!! HE'S NEEDS IT AHHHHHHH!! Ts!Underswap is honestly amazing for Mettaton. Its clear (to me anyway) that Mettaton in this au is nowhere near as big a star as he is in the normal Undertale continuity. In his intro monologue he brags about the audience he brought in, and during the fight he's much more focused on what the Audience wants rather than the show HE wants. Something OUR Mettaton just wouldn't do. This is the same sexy rectangle who basically just broadcasts whatever he wants. I forgot the exact dialogue and screenshot but its just not something Undertale Mettaton really does. Underfell though? A different story. He's bound to his viewers in a bad way till Frisk comes along. He's even more bound to Alphys in this AU as her little science fair project. GOD I LOVE THIS GAME ITS WHAT I'D WANT FROM AN ACTUAL UNDERFELL GAME! Oh my god I haven't even talked about Deltarune Mettaton and Mike and how that works OK SO THIS IS ENTERING MY PERSONAL FANON BUT Y'know how Spamton and Mettaton have their parallels? Y'know how the internet has been down in Deltarune?

Chapter 3's dark world is definitely TV themed, there's no way it can't. I know Tenna is the big TV related baddie now, but Im using Mike in this take. If Spamton is the more passive parallel to Mettaton, Mike in this chapter 3 take would be the darker direct parallel. Instead of the dreamer from humble beginnings who, even if he can be vain and self centered at times, still means well deep down like Mettaton is, Mike would be the cynical producer type who's fueling problems in the industry to make it big on top. Another thing that upsets me about usopp haters! (im sorry, is just those people drive me nuts and for my mental health ill never interact with them because its not worth it, so I prefer to interact with you and other fans so we can all be "yeah those people are crazy, Usopp is great 🥂 we have good taste" together. What upsets me is when they act like Usopp didn't have any moments in pre-ts, and they act like his only badass moments are shooting the world goverment flag (not even then, because they're always like "actually that was Sogeking" 😤 jokes over man, you are being obtuse on purpose) and that moment in Dressrosa, now I can't speak for post-ts because 😶 I'm still not caught up (stuck in post war, I'll keep going eventually), but my boy has many moments in pre ts. My favorite one being his fight against Perona, and one of the reasons its my favorite is because it comes very soon after Usopp has been feeling useless and weak (ok soon after for us, in universe it seems that Oda likes to leave certain characterizations in the arc that they appear and never mention them again...)

The anime quite literally spells it out for you that Usopp is incredibly important, and actually the reason why they didnt just all die in Thriller Bark, and there's STILL people out there saying Usopp is the most useless member *eating the drywall in my home*

Always fun to speak with Usopp fans on here! There’s a great community and a lot of great conversations to be had.

I really think a large part of this kind of fan reaction to Usopp is twofold. I also think a lot of these points are also applicable to Nami tbh. Firstly, I think that Usopp’s particular skills are undervalued by a lot of fans. He’s a long range fighter, not a close range one, and a lot of fans simply aren’t interested in that kind of battle because it’s not super flashy in the same way. His strengths also usually aren’t catered to in universe. For one reason or another he doesn’t get the chance to park himself somewhere and really get to do his job as sniper, and maybe if he did it would be a different story? I’m not sure though. His other skills (engineering, art, etc) also aren’t the coolest or flashiest but are necessary for the crew to function and don’t get a lot of hype in the same way either. In the same vein, I think a lot of people forget he’s forced up against literal monsters most of the time and in battles that aren’t his forte fighting wise, so in comparison he doesn’t get to shine. However he’s canonically extremely talented at basically everything he does.

Secondly, I think a lot of what he adds to the story and the crew is emotionally and character driven, and people who come to One Piece for the fights aren’t necessarily going to be drawn to that kind of contribution to the plot. If you’re interested in more low key character drama/development you may be compelled to pay attention to him in the story. But I think a good amount of people aren’t as interested in that element of the story and so don’t really pay attention.

There’s also the matter of the way some of his accomplishments are framed in universe tbh. Usopp is considered by a lot of fans to be kind of a meme character and so is treated like that accordingly. This includes all the Sogeking jokes and other things that mean that he isn’t really taken seriously by a lot of people unfortunately. But I think if anyone takes a closer look beyond the surface they’ll be able to see a really interesting character underneath! Especially pre time skip like you mentioned

I hope you enjoy your journey as you go further into the story! There’s a lot but it’s a great time and a lot of fun moments upcoming.

ok so!! arthur's faction, even objectively speaking (like in an au where every single varmont really and truly is the disgusting vile monster that ronan thinks they all are, this is STILL an advantage for arthur), has a v big advantage over the others, and that is @forgottensebastian!! while sebastian just being the amazing person he is, is a total win for arthur, like i said, even if he were actually leck quasar born again (SCREAM), his v existence would still be a huge advantage to the Arthurian faction bc he's a designated and direct heir and historically!!!!! that is a huuuuge asset in getting ppl to fight/vote for you!! so i wanted to sort of explore this a bit!

so, when ur abt to embark on a civil war for 'who should rule us next' ur hoping ur not gonna have to turn around and do it all again once ur chosen leader kicks the bucket, and arthur having a clear, designated heir from the get-go is a a part of that! bc w edmund or guin, say they get crowned etc, well great! but they're just one person right so what happens if/when they die before having kids! ur back to square one -- if guin's crowned, well, whose her heir? edmund? arthur? ur back at it again!

this is (one of) the reasons @forgottengodfrey is so keen to get edmund hitched (also gaining the stafford/astairan alliance etc but yeah), so edmund can start making heirs of his own, pronto!

ironically, its also one of the reasons @forgottenroderick is so reluctant to let his kids marry bc then ppl might start wanting one of his kids to rule more than they want ~him too!!!! its also the reason he was so desperate to have kids in the first place and took three wives to do it </3

but annnnyway, as a result, i do think arthur's sort of...thought abt this a lil bit frankly (he's so much more introspective than i ever thought it throws me every time i swearrrr) now, obv, idk how this will all go down but, if roderick were to die, and arthur to begin his gambit to seize the throne, i think he'd make his line of succession basically the sons of roderick in order of age; the sons of roderick's father in order of age (aka alaric), the sons of roderick's grandfather in order of age (aka bartholomew) and then their male line descendants in order of age (aka eoin). if all these men were to die, then it would follow the same structure but w women so:

i like themis and erich a lot. they're both children who long to be needed. themis has the gift of being something of a prodigy while erich was made to fail but they still found it in them to stand together cus they're just people in the end. how crazy it is to see where that privilege then takes elidibus in the future vs erich

i didnt realize it would hit in some weird way to see lahabrea see like...the reincarnation of his son living a very happy and fulfilled life as a mortal shard. so many complicated emotions in one quiet pause. knowing that you would have made the same choices that mirror athena's, knowing you spent this whole time casting judgement upon her, binding her, going back and forth on her, but seeing that in the future you'd take the same path. people born in one time leaving their scars upon people who don't fit in the mold like erich and then coming to terms that The Times have changed anyways. things you only made peace with in knowing it's been long over

athena's thing kind of makes me think they were expecting players to resonate more with endwalker's whole thing of you are not a tool and you are worthy of living even if imperfect based on past responses to the concept of the WoL. i think the raids straightforwardly reiterating so much of this is neat

also yes, this is all because i'm working on my monster au :P chapter 4 went up yesterday so im working on it a bit more

ooooo this is a really interesting question!! personally i think the creature would have a heart beat and a "bloodflow", but i don't think it would literally be blood pumping through its veins. i like to think that was one of victor's challenges when creating him, having to come up with an alternative to human blood that functions in largely the same way; mostly bc i think it seems kind of impractical to assume that he was able to get enough blood to actually fill such a giant creature. though maybe, because im assuming the body parts had to bee relatively fresh, maybe there was blood he could have used there? maybe he couldve drained the parts but thinking abt different blood types and shit we know abt now i dont think that would work so he'd probably go through a few failed trials with that before creating his own alternative.

anyways, because the creature is literally alive and its not some magical undead zombie type shit, i think that means the creature just functions like a regular human, especially since creating a sort of Perfect Human was one of victor's main goals. so the creature needs to breath and he needs "blood" pumping in his veins, and i think he would? hypothetically heal from wounds?? but maybe not because its not real blood in him, maybe he gets injured and his body cant repair itself- oh! or like great injuries just revert the cells to their dead state. bc i don't think the creature would be made up of dead cells and shit- the goal with reanimation was to bring everything back to functional life and i really don't think that would be possible will dead cells. especially since im pretty sure that would lead to the creature just. decaying as it lives and breaths (which is actually a really fucking cool concept now that i think about it- fuck- imagine being forcibly brought to light despite the will of nature and you are punish not only by being hated but by having the flesh literally slowly peel away from your bones as your body rejects itself, almost like it learned from the world around it to hate you-)

but yeah speaking from a practical sense here (aka as someone with highschool level biology knowledge and no real understanding of science whatsoever) i think the creature either wouldn't heal from would, or it would heal far slower than regular humans do. its cells are not dead, but they were dead and now they're barley handing on, literally and figuratively stitched together. so if something happens to kill or damage said cells, i dont think they'd be able to regenerate or effectively repair the wounded areas (if not only bc i think thats a pretty neat way of demonstrating once again that that literally everything is working against the creature- even his own body dosent want him to live- and it could serve as a way of being like "he literally cant heal from what victor's done" which would pair nicely with his whole revenge arc i think idek anymore im just saying words at this point)

By the smell you followed out to some kind of Demon horse animal “what the hell-“ you feel air come in contact with you this isn’t any air it looks .. poisonous!??! You cough as you wave away the air “ Argk! What the fuck is this!” After a little while of the air dissappearing the graceful or whatever the hell it was disappeared into the clouds jumping to wherever it comes from you walk around a little as after a while you feel fuzzy and incredibly hot, “Since when was it this hot?…” you stumble around as you fall on the forest floor, someone or something is approaching you? But I barely have any energy left I should die here what’s the point… no dont Think like that Y/N! You have so much to live for! Get up you Heavy piece of clumsiness! You try to stand but tumble as you Watch the small creature approach you what is that a..? Korok? “Yah!” The korok shakes as it waves its Small branch around like a sword “woah woah calm Down im not here to harm you! brOTP: Namari and Laius, they are very fun to see interact with each other, they seem to have a very clear opening on how one likes something a lot like an hyperfixation, Laius appreaciates Namaris knowledge of weapons and such and Namari can appreciate Laius interest for monsters like a tad strange thing but she seems to come around it, in the background panneling of the first-ish chapters and maybe even later on when namari is shown as a flashback, it can be seen that they might have been the second ones to spend more time togheter (Namari and Chilchuck being first, not including Marcille and Falin bc they are basically stuck togheter like glue), oh shit also also the adventurers bible has a few comics where namari and laius are drinking togheter and shes helping him with some shit issues and then they also speak on body hair shit lmfao omggggg fuck my life whatever uuughh i am so normal about them, i do really like them in liek aaaa ummm i say brotp bc i feel like they are very silent of romantic emotion but i also dont want to say everything is platonic lol, they bros in the way straight men that have gay sex are you feel me like that picture of two men almost kissing and it says this is how straight men hang out.

Since you know lore of loz (and you actually explain it in a way that makes sense to me), could you explain to me where Botw/totk fit in the story. Cause I've been told that the first 8bit loz game is supposed to be the very last in the series, but my brain refuses to think that botw could come before that.

ok so good news: 8bit loz is, at least according to nintendo, NOT the last game in the series-- its not even the last game in a branch of the timeline.

im going to do my best to be as concise and understandable as possible, but im going to be talking about the timeline which is anything but. so. here goes!

so the zelda timeline looks like this, right? its a big mess with multiple branches, and it looks like this because Ocarina of Time is a game dealing with time travel and things got a little fucky in that game.

so the general idea here is; as an adult, link saves a future hyrule and leaves that newly-saved world to be sent back in time to before all of this happened (a world that is eventually flooded, since ganondorf returns and theres no link to save them that time, leading to wind waker). back as a child, link then runs and tells zelda about ganondorfs plans, and he's stopped before the events in the adult timeline can happen and we get the child timeline instead (and he goes off into the woods, sparking the start of majoras mask). if link dies in ocarina of time, ganondorf wins and we get the doomed timeline (leading to a link to the past)

breath of the wild is super fucking weird because its has elements from EVERYTHING ON THIS FUCKING TIMELINE. the rito? the flooding of hyrule (as mentioned in the description for rock salt)? ocarina of time Link being remembered whatsoever? islands referencing characters like Linebeck? those fuckers only exist in the adult timeline. twilight princess being referenced directly in links knighting ceremony? the mirror of twilight appearing in a side quest? arbiters grounds from TP still being in the gerudo desert? thats only in the child timeline, bro! ganon being a horrific entity of hate and darkness rather than a man? the yellow stripe on the hero of the wild gear? the abundance of monsters? doomed timeline, baby!

and the developers take on where botw is isnt exactly consistent, either

so! the consensus on where botw is is that it takes place after everything else on the timeline. that, at some point, the three timelines converged, and a shitload of time has passed since then, and now we've got the Hyrule of BOTW. and its been so much time that, as the art book for BOTW says; "Hyrule’s recurring periods of prosperity and decline have made it impossible to tell which legends are historical fact and which are mere fairy tale.” Hence the inconsistencies and weirdness about when this all takes place.

(also, fun fact that totally doesnt mean anything at all; the noncanonical spinoff game hyrule warriors? the plot for that game, loosely speaking, is that the three timelines are converged, which would explain how BOTW can be from every timeline. oh and its the first game where link wears blue. yeah the same blue he wears in breath of the wild. just a silly, funny thought.)

so.. yeah. the zelda timeline is a confusing mess, but we all kind of agree (based off of what the devs have said) that is at the end of everything that came before and waaaaaaay off in the future from there. so there ya go :]

this is long sorry

checo talks a lot about chasing the dream of F1, even more than other drivers from what ive seen. and it makes sense- he left mexico at age 15 to race in germany alone. he's not from a wealthy family. he brings sponsors now, yes, but he didn't come from wealth and i think that's important to remember that.

and so he's a teenager alone in germany, he doesn't speak the language, he's living in a truck driver hotel until he gets a place above the restaurant owned by his team manager. he's racing against other european boys that know the area and know each other- he doesn't. he finishes... poorly in his first season in formula bmw. nico hulkenberg wins, chekhovs gun is on the wall. because he's sergio perez, because he doesn't and can't lose like that, he improves by 10 places and takes 4th in his second year.

he keeps getting better. he wins british formula 3 in his rookie year. he moves into asian GP2, spends a few seasons struggling before he becomes vice-champion. again- he can't lose, has too much on the line to leave the sport.

he's 20 when he's announced to drive for sauber f1. he becomes part of the ferrari driver academy. he performs incredibly in his two seasons with sauber, pundits think he'll be the next ferrari driver. but a spot at mclaren opens up after lewis leaves; he takes the chance and breaks it off with ferrari.

2013 is tough. hes replacing a world champion and driving next to one too. everyone calls him aggressive, and maybe he was. he was a fighty 20 something year old under pressure. what else was he to do but race like his life depended on it?

he gets dropped from mclaren. he chances force india, meets nico h again, just in a different way. theyre a monster midfield team, bringing the otherwise uncompetitive VJM cars up to podiums. there's an equal amount of post-race celebration and anguish, both drenched in late nights and alcohol. they dont label what they are, and they dont talk about it. the nights in each others beds, sex that feels like punishment and absolution at the same time. they fight each other on track, closely matched but not close enough- checo beats nico in the standings.

nico leaves, esteban comes in. if checo wanted a better partnership, there isn't one to be found with esteban. their rivalry is public and they arent friends off-track. it's not like with nico, where they raced each other before f1 and have an understanding. its worse. force india's financial problems have hit the breaking point. there's only one seat for the two of them. checo and esteban are similar, came here to race alone. they both worked to be here, more than most other drivers on the grid nowadays. they dont love each other, they dont even like each other. but they understand each other, and its all the worse for that.

checo stays, esteban's out of a seat. he's thankful for it, because racing comes first, it always has, but he's devastated too. there was a lot of himself in esteban. he becomes closer with nico, especially as he gets dropped from the grid. its better when theyre not measuring themselves against each other, when the competition is bigger than just the two of them.

he gets married. he's dated a string of girls through his career. none of them have stayed through the long workhours and absences. he always wants more from them, doesnt know what hes missing. but its what f1 requires, right? the glitz and glamour, the cameras that always surround him. its what he should do, has to do. right? so he marries carola, and pretends it makes him happy.

rlance is the best partner he's had so far. he's nice, really nice, defers to checo when he can. he drives cleanly, or at least tries to, knowing that dirty money is what got him the seat. checo's never had this before in a team. someone that listens. and so when lawrence stroll's hand becomes too heavy at racing point, checo takes his frustrations out on lance. it makes him feel guilty, anything that makes him feel alive does, but he excuses himself by believing that its deserved.

racing point drops him. he's been there through force india being put into administration, worked to save the team and all his colleagues. this is how he's repaid. he doesn't know what he'll do in 2021.

but this is sergio perez. even when his future looks impossible, he drives like he's chasing down tomorrow. he drives the race of his life in sakhir. charles spins him on the first lap, ruining his front row start and turning it into p18. he comes back. he always does, overtaking through the mess until he's leading the race. he wins.

redbull signs him on for the next year. he's grateful, supplicant to the figure of the bull. max's talent has consumed his past teammates, and the buzz about him in redbull shows that they dont think checo will be different, think that he'll break like all the others. but he's older now, better than the aggressive 20 year old that grew up in a fighty midfield team without second drivers. he understands the sport a little more, so he drives like he's a sidekick, taking team orders like he was born to fulfill them. he gets another year with redbull, another year in f1. the contracts continue- he has stability, or at least some mutant form of stability for the first time in his life. he wins in monaco, the municipality stained the memory of his concussion in his rookie year but rewritten in his narrative now. he still thinks there's some unused potential in him. he knows he's too old for potential now.

checo has been working his entire career to stay in F1, to continue chasing this dream of his. but it's not like he imagined, it's not like he wanted. the only record he's broken is the most races before a win.

he's not happy. he doesn't know what he can do about it. he lies to and about himself all the time. sure, he's a family guy. sure, he's living the dream. he's driving a championship leading car but he'll never finish in front of max. he won't ever tell someone about this churning pit in his stomach though. he has a beautiful wife, beautiful kids. he only feels alive when he's with a girl that he shouldn't be seen with. he doesn't need a psychologist, doesn't believe he can show that kind of weakness. it wouldn't be manly of him. it wouldn't be what an f1 driver does. if he's made it this far without, he'll continue without. he won't give up on that.

checo is stubborn at his core. he reaches for what he thinks he wants, but in all the wrong ways. he doesn't know himself at all, can't really look in deeply for fear he'll find something he doesn't like. he'll come close, but he won't ever be a champion and he won't ever be happy.
