"Holy shit!" Eddie shrieks, his voice regrettably echoing around the small quarters of Family Video's storage room, "Your hands are freezing!"

He envelopes Steve's hands in his own, brings them to his mouth and starts blowing. Steve grimaces and attempts to yank his hands away, but Eddie only tightens his grasp.

"Don't you have any mittens!" he continues, frantic as they now tug back and forward.

"No way," Steve scoffs, "I'm not walking around with an ugly pair of mittens pinned to my jacket."

He cocks his chin and his eyes flit down to the set of navy-blue mittens joined by a length of matching yarn and attached to Eddie's worn parka jacket via two safety pins.

"Excuse me!" he defends, letting go as he brings his hands to his chest to shield his mittens from further insult.

Steve giggles, "You look like a kid going off to kindergarten."

Eddie holds up a warning finger and feels his jaw clench, "My mittens are pinned to my winter jacket so I know where they are at the beginning of winter when I need my winter coat and mittens! Then, when I enter a premises that is supposed to be warm – to seek out my boyfriend whose hands should be warm – I pin them straight back on my jacket for safekeeping. It makes perfect sense!"

"So this was Wayne's idea because you kept losing them?" Steve asks, raising a brow and smirking.

"... Yeah," Eddie admits, looking down at his mittens.

The embarrassment is fleeting (this is practical for god sake!) and Eddie moves to unpin them.

"Eddie, I'm not taking your mittens!"

"Take my mittens!"

"How am I supposed to work in them?"

"You can stack away returns in a pair of mittens," Eddie offers, twirling the mittens by their joined string.

"And how am I going to type or use the phone?"

Eddie pauses and bites the inside of his cheek.

Damn it, he always has a checkmate defence.

"Turn the AC up!" he says with a click of his fingers.

"Can't," Steve grumbles, folding his arms and leaning against the built-in shelf that was supposed to support their regularly scheduled make-out session, "The AC is broken."

"What!" Eddie looks around, waving his hand about, "Where's your customer complaint form? Suggestion box? Something like that?"

"Eddie, you are not filing a complaint to Keith."

"I sure am!" he nods, determined, "Complaint or my mittens. Your choice, babydoll."

I posted my bind of Are You Flagging? earlier where I had a placeholder for a dust jacket.

I finally got my new design in!! I love it so much! I decided to go with a 80s style VHS box aesthetic and made it look vintage and grimy. I ended up liking it so much that I thought it’d be clever that if you “took the case off” it’d reveal an actual VHS tape 📼 📺 📼 📺

It was in incredibly tedious, but I love the concept and effect.

I like to use graphics in my typesets on blank pages to ensure all chapter headers start on the right, and I decided to go with a cute little Flagging 101 lecture! I was nosy and googled what the other colors meant, so by the end of the fic you’d know what all the basic colors stood for. And of course for the bookmark I just had to use a mini versions of Eddie’s hanky 🥹

My chapter headers represent Eddie and Steve- Eddie with his chain and bats 🦇 , Steve with his preppy polo buttons and a film strip from Family Video 🎞

This copy is for the author! the end papers are changed to tie in both the VHS cover and an alternate cover I’ll be posting later!

“Steve,” Robin says, holding his head between her palms, directing him away from the sight of Eddie driving away in his van. Her brows are furrowed and voice determined, “Steve-ing-ton.”

Steve’s own brows rise, a crinkle above the face she holds stationary like he’ll escape if she doesn’t pin him down. “Yes, Robington?”

A crash of VHS cases sound to the left of him and he’s able to turn just enough to see a toddler running with their hand outstretched by the lower shelves before Robin jerks him back, her blue eyes staring him down intently.

“Do you know what a dingus is?” The bell above the Family Video door rings as more people pour in and Steve shifts restlessly on his feet.

It’s Friday afternoon, the place is busy as everyone prepares for the weekend, and he’s pretty sure that a different kid is licking the storefront windows from the outside. “Me?” He answers, hoping that she’ll release him soon.

“Yes. But no,” she retorts mysteriously. A woman calls for their attention in front of the counter, but Robin stays focused. “A dingus is a bit of an idiot.” Steve scoffs and rolls his eyes.

“Unfortunately clueless.” He tilts his head back as far as he’s allowed, groaning over the sound of the woman asking for them again.

“But overall, a dingus is loveable.” He stops, squinting at her while he waits for the other shoe to drop. “Thank you?” He says.

“Excuse me.”

They turn in unison, Robin’s hands still attached to Steve’s cheeks and the woman takes a step back as if made nervous by their sudden attention. She clears her throat and adjusts her acid wash jean jacket. “My son wants to hire Gremlins but Marcy Burgess said that it’s obscene. What’s the rating on it.”

They both look down at the case in her hands, on it a man holds a white shoebox with a creature peaking out from inside. At the top right corner, a large sticker says PG.

“Pheobe Cates,” Steve whispers from the side of his mouth. “I know,” she hisses back, elbowing him sharply out of the way to help the woman.

It’s over an hour later, as Steve swipes the barcodes on the back of the recently returned films, that Robin turns her attention back to him.

“A dingus,” she starts with no introduction, taking off from where they had left the conversation earlier, “Is loveable enough that he can probably get away with accidently spurning the object of his affection.”

Steve frowns, grabbing the cleaning spray to wipe off the mysterious spill on The Shop Around the Corner. “I did what now?” He asks patiently, scrubbing at the plastic.

“Eddie,” she says, “The whole…” She waves her hand in the air and Steve dodges just in time, “Thing with the ring.”

Steve just shakes his head at her, uncomprehending. Eddie had visited earlier, a lovely distraction before the customers had started tumbling in. But then Eddie is always a lovely distraction, even if Steve can’t tell him that outright.

It’s a nice fantasy though, he thinks. Maybe taking Eddie by the hand, telling him that he’s sweet and funny just to watch the pink rise to his cheeks.

He sighs, wiping his hands on his jeans. But that’s all it is, a fantasy. They’re friends and, sure, every time Eddie calls him sweetheart or baby or throws his arm over the back of the couch behind Steve, it makes his heart pound, fast and hard enough that he usually misses half of the conversations around him until he starts to calm down. But that’s Eddie, he’s demonstrative and affectionate with everyone, and Steve’s just a friend.

“The ring,” she groans, her bracelets rattling as she throws both hands up in the air this time. “You mean the one I tried on,” Steve supplies.

“Yes,” she says sharply, grabbing his left hand by the ring finger and wagging it in front of his face. “And what did Eddie say after you said how nice his jewellery makes his hands look?”

Steve shrugs, “Something a little new, from me to you. What do you think?” Thankfully she doesn’t point out how sad it is that he listens so closely to Eddie that he can quote him verbatim.

“While he pushed his new one onto your left ring finger,” Robin’s eyes bore into him.

Steve remembers, it’d had a silver bat on it and when Eddie slipped it on Steve’s finger all he could think about was how nearly empty Eddie’s eyes had looked when they'd found him covered in blood in the Upside Down. He’d hidden his shudder but could still feel how uneasy his smile had been when he’d replied that it wasn’t his style.

He blinks.

Robin nods, correctly guessing that the cogs have finally turned.

“He was hitting on me,” Steve breathes, body going hot then cold from the realisation that he’d essentially told Eddie that he’s not his style. “Oh shit.”

“Uh-huh,” Robin hums affirmatively.

“Christ,” Steve tugs his hair in horror.

“Dingus!” Robin grips his shoulders, shaking him out of his fugue. “Go!”

Steve frantically swings his gaze around the store, knowing that he’s still got half of his shift left and he’ll be leaving Robin alone and suddenly overwhelmed at the thought that Eddie’s not going to want to see him again.

“You’ll never know unless you talk to him,” Robin says and Steve realises that he’d verbalised his thoughts. “Go!” She orders him and Steve goes. He scrambles to the car and drives like a bat out of hell to finally pound on Eddie’s trailer door.

Eddie swings open the screen, looking down at him warily. “They’re my style,” Steve blurts out. “Love them, want to see them all the time, want them forever,” he hastily pleads.

Eddie slowly smiles and steps back, gesturing for Steve to follow him in.

It had been an innocent question from Steve as you had lunch at family video, but it came crashing down on you when it dawn on you that you didn’t have one yet.

“We’ll help you!” Robin promised when she saw your tiny eyes fill up with water. “What do you want to get him?”

“I dunno” you mumbled.

“Is there something that he needs but that he can’t think to get himself?”

You thought for a while, then it dawned on you. His DnD dice… they were kept in this old plastic box that was just about falling apart.

“A dice box?” you said, looking hopefully at Robin and Steve. Nonverbally asking them to help you.

You had it all in-front of you on the counter.

An old VHS-case (the plastic ones that snaps close)

Some soft, velvety fabric that once had been part on some promotion thing.

Paint that Steve had found in a drawer and glue.

You enlisted the help from Steve with the glueing of the fabric to the inside of the case, but you did the decoration of the outside of the box totally by yourself.

The grand finale was a sprinkle of fairy dust, across the outside and the inside of the box, just in case Eddie doubted who made it for him.

“Soo?” You said, standing with your arms out, gesturing towards it. “Whatcha think?”

“It’s beautiful!” Robin exclaimed.

“He’ll love it.” Steve said with a smile.

Robin helped you wrapped it, and you wrote a note that you lovingly tied to the top of the present.

“What’s this?” Eddie asked as he unpacked the present from the bag he had been handed by Robin as he picked you up.

“Give it to me” you said immediately.

“Don’t you think its a bit to heavy?” He asked.

“I can handle it” you said and grabbed it with both hands.

It was tough but you flew all the way across the room, plopping down the present underneath the tree.

“Can I get a clue?” Eddie asked.

“Nope!” You responded.

 🦋 Life Is Strange: Mental Health Headcanons

 🦋 warnings: heavy topics, mentions of psychical and verbal abuse, mentions of mental illness, kate's suicide attempt, a gif of warren beating the shit out of nathan which is funny to me, mentions of my literal enemy mark jefferson

 🎧 A/N: I was feeling a little silly, goofy even. This idea popped into my head as I was writing some relationship headcanons but I decided to write this instead, the relationship headcanons will be out later today though probably or tomorrow. ツ (this took like 9 hours)

 🦋 Chloe Price:

  💾 An attachment to Rachel who turned out to be just really only leading her on and giving her false hope, a dead father who she keeps seeing in her brutal nightmares, an abusive stepfather who we see hit her after a certain choice and has probably hit her before on several occasions, a mother who rarely takes her side and a best friend that's dipped only to come back and not tell her.

   📼Her emotions can change in a split second from 0% to 100% almost immediately, she's seen smoking which she probably uses to drift away from reality and ease the way she feels.

  📝I think that from research and playing the game that Chloe has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), from her trust and abandonment issues, being unable to take control of her emotions and the meltdown she had in Chaos Theory.

  🍂Kate Marsh:

 💾 Kate is so deeply traumatized by what Nathan did to her, drugging her and promising that he'll take her to a hospital (he lied to her, he's an asshole). Only for Victoria to spread a video of her kissing complete strangers for the whole school, town and her extremely religious family to see.

  📼Her room is unclean and messy, things are spread across the floor including books and clothes, when she's at her desk she looks noticeably tired with red, puffy eyes from crying. Inside her room, it's dark and her mirror is covered up (afraid to look at herself, i think she's beautiful by the way.) When she's on the roof threatening to jump, she's correct that we don't know her mother but she apparently thinks that Kate is already on her way to hell.

 📝I think from how her behaviour is in the game that she has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) & Depression.

 📷 Max Caulfield:

 💾 She's gone through hell and back, watching her best friend get shot and finding out that she has literal powers that can rewind time. Then having to rewind and save Kate's life, rewinding to stop Victoria from going to Mark Jefferson and ending up in the dark room, saving Chloe from getting killed by a train and shot by Mark, finding Rachel's dead body and ending up in the dark room herself.

  📼Max seems to be pretty socially awkward and just focuses on photography entirely, she probably struggles making friends and communicating with others.

  📝I think that Max has Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), from her tending to avoid certain social decisions and her problems communicating with other people. Also, she could possibly have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after the Life Is Strange events take place, from her time in the dark room and constantly having to rewind and save Chloe's life.

 🎭Rachel Amber:

 💾 Rachel sort of has to have everyone's eyes on her, you know? The popular girl that everyone knows, especially after she goes missing. Finding out that her dad's cheating on her mom, who turns out to actually not be her biological mother, that shit would fuck with anyone's head.

  📼She's described as a huge flirt from the way she acts with Frank and Chloe but she's leading them both on at the same time, putting a huge strain on both of their relationships. Chloe's convinced that Frank is a huge creep (a little) especially since he has her bracelet but Chloe refuses to believe that Rachel would have did that to her. (going behind her back, lying to her.)

 📝Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD), it seems to describe her and her behaviour pretty well. Her emotions, her powers , how she started a whole fucking wildfire and her very unhealthy behaviour.

 🎬 Victoria Chase:

 💾 The Queen Bee! It's obvious that she was born into a wealthy family due to her expensive jewellery, clothes and very expensive camera equipment. (I see why Nathan and Victoria get along, they're both rich people who slightly get on my nerves.)

  📼From what she said to Max, it's obvious that she's jealous of her and probably afraid she'll take the spotlight or her place probably. She wants to be liked, the center of attention and if she isn't then she'll have a fucking fit. (I'm gonna have a BF, a bitch fit!) It's also obvious that she's very close with Nathan and aware of his unstable behaviour, their relationship can be seen as romantic or just friends. (i don't ship them, more like brother & sister.)

 📝It says on her profile that she could possibly have Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD), seductive behaviour, self-centeredness and constantly seeking reassurance or approval.

 🎮 Warren Graham:

 💾 It's my favourite dork! He's literally 16 and in a school specifically for seniors, smart much? It's said that he probably advanced a couple grades on his profile due to him being pretty smart.

 📼He's seen a few times fidgeting around, he's literally unable to stay still apart from when he's getting his picture taken. He acts without thinking like how he beat Nathan Prescott's ass (twice) and I get the vibe he'd also struggle focusing on certain tasks.

 📝I couldn't find anything on Warren but personally i think he has Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) from what I said earlier, he's unable to stay still, acts without thinking and struggles focusing on certain tasks. (like loving me back)

 🧨 Nathan Prescott:

 💾 He's a horrible person and I don't defend this man but I do feel bad for him, physically and verbally abused by his own father, used by Mark Jefferson all because he's rich and easy to manipulate. He went down all the dark paths in the world for a fucked up dickhead (i literally despise mark jefferson, i will beat his ass.)

 📼It's obvious he's mentally unstable and everyone around him knows, they just don't care except for his therapist. It's heavily implied that he suffers from paranoia, anxiety and psychosis. From his scary ass drawings and a letter from his therapist directed towards his father detailing how Nathan is `disconnected from reality`.

📝Nathan is confirmed to have Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia from the medicine (Risperidone, from his profile) that he takes which is used to treat both of those things. And possibly, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which could have been brought on by the abuse he endures from his father. (i'll beat his ass as well.)

The bell over the Family Videos door chimed signaling a customer had just walked in. Steve and Robins conversation quiets down as their heads turn to see who had just walked into their workplace.

A smile makes its way onto Steve's face when he spots the top of your head making your way to your favorite section of the congested DVD store.

“Don’t say a single word,” Robin muttered as she turned toward their work computer and began to type in your name so when you came with the same movies you checked out every other week. You wouldn’t have to wait

“I wasn’t gonna say anything,” Steve grumbles, taking a seat on one of the stools near the register, plopping one elbow down on the counter and resting his chin on his hand.

A few minutes of silence went by after Robin came to sit next to him taking out the big binder they used to keep track of inventory; Steve’s eyes wandered upwards catching sight of you peeking over the stands and making very intense eye contact with his co-worker.

When you notice you've been caught staring you immediately duck as if that’d save you from some kind of embarrassment. The red head next to him is blushing scarlet as she tries to busy herself with work.

“Dude why don’t you just go talk to her?”

Before responding Rob looks up making sure you’re nowhere near them. “Because Y/n Y/l/n is captain of the fucking cheerleading team and I’m in our schools band Steven.”

“Hey now. First name was not necessary whatsoever.”

After picking up ‘Sixteen Candles’, and ‘The Breakfast Club’ you made you way over to the register but this time the two workers notice you had an extra movie.

Robin scans the first two and takes the third looking over it.

Dirty Dancing.

“Oh Y/n, dirty dancing? What trouble are you getting into this weekend?” Steve questioned with an eyebrow raised a toothpick in his mouth.

“Well hopefully I have a date..”

The short-haired girl scans the movie stacking it with the others a slight look of disappointment on her face as she slides your checked out movies towards you.

You watch as she makes no move to make eye contact with you and just types in the extra movie you had checked out.

“With who?”

Your eyes move from Robin to Steve then back to Robin. You tilt your head down just a bit trying to catch her eyes as she looks down intently at the beige mechanical keyboard connected to the computer.

Inquisitively Robin's eyes connect with yours as you give her a small smile before speaking up. “Well hopefully with you.” Your voice is low and shaky indicating you were very nervous.

“You want to go out with me?”

“Robin I don’t come in here to check out the exact same movies every week, I’ve just been working up the courage to ask you out.”

“Really?”

“Of course,”

“Okay, but why me? You’re captain of the cheerleading team, you should be dating the captain of the football or basketball team.” She states, confused but happy nonetheless.

“So since I'm captain of the cheer team I have to be straight?”

“No no no that’s not at all—“

When a wide grin forms on your face and Steve begins to chuckle Robin sighs in relief and embarrassment as she runs her hands down her face.

“I’m just messing with you, but hey look I’ve gotta run. This Saturday, my house dinner, and a movie?”

“I'd love to.” You took your movies off the counter bidding your goodbyes to the workers and the second the door closed Steve slowly turned towards his best friend ready to make a slick remark before she stopped him.

“Don’t even Harrington.”

Everybody knows Eddie has a way with nicknames. Everyone gets a pet name from Eddie to the point he basically never says anyone's real name.

And Steve gets an array of them. More than anyone else. Sweetheart. Sugarplum. Stevie. Multiple pet names all strung together in quick succession. Very rarely he's Harrington. That one is typically reserved for when Eddie is being a total bitch and they are fighting. King Steve, of course. He still doesn't love it, but at least now it is said with affection instead of sarcasm and contempt.

Meanwhile, Steve's over here simply calling his boyfriend Eds. Okay, maybe he said 'babe' one time in the presence of Lucas, Mike and Dustin and he's never heard the end of it.

It's kinda lame and he rather die than explain it to anyone (or have anyone else hear it), but Steve sees Eddie as his Prince. It's a pet name Eddie hasn't used, which is surprising considering there is a side DND character who is a Prince that bares embarrassingly detailed physical similarities to Steve.

Eddie is the Prince who came and swept him off his feet when he was at his loneliest.

Again, kinda lame. And pathetic.

Unfortunately, Steve blurts out said name in the least romantic setting possible: the back storeroom of Family Video.

They're in the back looking for the copy of Top Gun Steve had stashed away for them to take home. The waitlist was a month long and Keith enforced a strict 'no employees on the waitlist' policy, even though he definitely took a copy for himself.

"Holy shit," Eddie says, staring at the VHS cover of Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis.

Steve hands it over. "I reserved it under the fake account Rob and I have."

It was basically his only option considering Keith's flimsy rule and Eddie being banned from the store a few years back. Thank God they didn't have security cameras or else Steve would have been fired a hundred times over by now.

"Whoa," Eddie says with the wide-eyed wonder of a kid, holding the VHS in his hands like it is the most precious and delicate thing in the world.

"Anything for my Prince," Steve coos, leaning over to kiss him on the cheek.

He pulls back, staring. Oh god. He really just said that out loud.

Eddie blinks, clearly taking a moment to compute (or willing to tear his eyes away from ogling the back cover image of Val Kilmer). He quirks a brow, turning to look at Steve, a sly smile tugging at the corner of his mouth and accentuated by the scar that runs along the left side of his jaw.

"So that makes you the damsel in distress?" he says more than asks, glee in his eyes.

Shit, Steve really hadn't thought of it that way. Trust him to come up with a pet name that immediately made him vulnerable to teasing.

Before he can think of what to say, Eddie is scooping him up bridal-style. He promptly loops his arms around Eddie's neck when he feels his legs teetering on the spot at the cramped and awkward angle, wedged between Keith's desk and a shelving unit.

"Don't worry, Princess!" Eddie declares in dramatic fashion. "The Prince is here to save you from your dungeon and that wretched oaf."

He laughs hysterically as he sways Steve about.

"Stop!" Steve laughs, kicking and sending a stack of VHSs toppling to the ground.

"I shan't!" Eddie yells, his voice echoing through the small space. "Not until I have you in the safety of my bed chambers!"

"This wasn't supposed to happen!" Steve giggles as Eddie swings him around, sending more tapes flying.

📼 Steve is more flirtatious with you while Robin is rambling to you about the movie you're renting/buying.

📼 They both obviously have favoritism towards you than other costumer.

📼 Both of them tease each other saying things like:

Things were pretty slow at Family Video on a Tuesday, as usual. And that was the perfect opportunity for Steve to leave early due to this “super important event” he had to attend, that was probably just some date he had with another girl. Robin was dramatically pouting about it, and signing loudly.

— Can you quit with the groaning?

— Dude, you’re seriously going to leave me alone here doing all of this nothing by myself? Really?

— I'm not leaving you all alone. — Steve rolled his eyes. — For the matter, Keith has hired a new employee that will keep you busy with training.

— And who is this oh so amazing employee, that is, what? Almost three hours late?

— Her name is Y/N. Ya know, Jonathan's sister. — Robin looked at the boy next to her with wide eyes, completely stopping what she was doing and getting ugly stares from the middle aged woman at the counter.

— Shut up. You gotta be joking. — Robin gave the woman an apologetic look before handing her her tape. — Family Video hopes you have an amazing day.

— Why would I be joking about this? — She then turned to Steve and got closer to his ear while holding him by his shoulder.

— Well, I don’t know. Maybe because I had, like, the biggest crush on her since I was thirteen. — She whispered and he furrowed his brows, brushing his hand through his hair.

— Weren’t you into the muppet?

— Like you stuck with one girl during your entire school years, dingus. — Robin rolled her eyes, pocking on the star sticker she put on the cash register. — No, seriously, I can't work with her.

— Pff, Rob, you’ll be alright. She’s not that scary.

— Nope, no. Steve, you’re not getting it. I'm gonna get all awkward and I'll definitely mess it up.

Both of them heard the bell ring as you walked in, your brown hair was a bit messy and you had no makeup on. You had completely forgotten about work, it was your first day and you had already fucked up.

— So sorry, Harrington. I swear this will never happen again. — You rested your arms on the counter, feeling a little out of breath for running too fast from your car.

You looked at the girl in a dark blue blazer, sitting on the black chair in front of you for a moment, feeling your hand sweat when you realize who it was. Your brain went all blank when she looked up at you with those bright blue eyes, but you somehow managed to get some words out.

— Uh, hi. I’m Y/N.

— I’m… Robin. — Of course you knew who she was.

You remember very clearly going inside Scoop’s Ahoy every time you saw that she was at the register, just to see her in that cute sailor outfit. And how intensely you would stare at her hands as she scooped your chocolate cookie ice cream. How could you forget the amount of money that you spent there during the summer?

— Yeah, from Scoop’s, right?

— Uh-huh. — Robin felt like an idiot for not being able to 1) take her eyes off of you and 2) act like a normal person and say more than one word in a sentence.

Steve watched this — kind of awkward — interaction like a proud mother, not hiding his smirk as he got off the counter and made his way to the door.

— Glad you know each other, gotta go now. Sure you’ll do fine, Byers? — You turned back and gave him a sarcastic look, resting your hand on your waist.

— C’mon, Steve. You put the movies on the shelves, customers take them off. It’s not that hard. — Robin chuckled and you felt your heartbeat race at the sound.

— Annoying as ever, I see.

— Shut up and go to your date already. — He rolled his eyes at you and started to leave. — Use protection! — Steve was already outside when you shouted at him but he heard it and flipped you off before getting in his car and driving away.

— I… Didn’t know you guys were friends. — Robin started, taking her eyes off of you and focusing on her fingers. You turned back to her, taking in every single part of her face.

— We’re not really friends friends, he just stole my place of, like, my brother’s personal unpaid babysitter. — You chuckled, tugging a strand of hair behind your ear. — I didn't think you were friends. — She looked at you again, noticing that you were already looking directly at her. — I mean, he’s Steve Harrington. And he wasn’t exactly nice to you in high school.

— He changed a lot since back then, y’know? He’s a bit of an asshole, still, but I guess that’s just the way he is. — Robin smirked at you and you almost dropped dead, right then and there. Her brows furrowed at you. — How did you know that he wasn’t nice to me in high school?

— Well, he wasn’t nice to anybody except for his friends and Nance, so I just figured. And… I mean, we were in the same history class. — Robin eyes widened, having no memory of seeing you there. How the hell did she not notice you?

— What? Really? How did I not see you there? I mean, it is quite hard not to notice you. — She realized what she just said and thought about how wrong that could sound. — N-no, not like that! It's just that, like, you’re just so… You know? I mean-

— Chill, Robin. I get it. — You gave her a small smile. — You were just too busy staring at Steve 90% of the time, and I sat on the very other side from you, on the back. — You looked away from her for a moment. — I thought you liked him, back then.

— What?! No, no way. Like, no. Nope. Steve's like… The complete opposite of what my type is. We’re totally platonic. With a capital P. — She stumbled on her own words making you giggle.

— Aight, Rob. — You looked back at her, taking a second staring at her face as she stared at you right back.

My new and improved redesign of @ao3soidade Steddie fic ‘Are You Flagging?’ On ao3.

I redid the Dust Jacket since I was waiting on approval from an artist, and I liked the design so much (it’s VHS box vibe-not pictured, waiting on the printer) that I redid my whole casing to match, so when you remove the cover it’ll reveal a VHS tape 📼 📺

The typeset has chapter headers to represent Eddie and Steve, and the blank pages to keep things starting on the left cohesively, have a Flagging 101 mini lesson! I googled the flag code while reading, so this way you don’t have to!

This time instead of a ribbon with a pick, I desecrated a replica of Munsons hanky, and made mini ones to peek out from the pages.

Obnoxious for a charm? Yes.

Do I care? No, no I do not.

Regardless, if bisexual disaster Steve Harrington is your bread and butter like it is to me, with a healthy hearty dose of BDSM led by Eddie Munson, go read this one!

Summary: Eddie’s new to Family Video, and you’re unwittingly his most popular customer  📼

“Okay, so basically, it’s simple. I help all the girls out, and you and Robin help everyone else out, got it?”

“Why?”

“Because they’re into me.”

“What if a girl is into me more than she’s into you?”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Munson.”

“You know, girls do find me attractive, Steve.”

“I’m sure some do, but you see, women come here to meet me. We can’t be letting them down, now can we?”

“Sure, Steve.”

“You have to call me boss.”

“No, I don’t!”

“Yes, please don’t call him that, Eddie! It gives me a headache.”

Robin emerged from the back, interrupting Steve’s unorthodox training session. Eddie desperately needed a job, and he figured it would be fun to work with his friends, but he was quickly regretting his decision. 

Nonetheless, Eddie needed the money, and it really wasn’t a bad job when Steve wasn’t practically running over him to get a girl’s attention. His favorite job was updating the employee movie recommendations each week. There was a whiteboard on the front desk with movie titles the staff decided to nominate as their personal favorite movie of the week. Robin always aimed to promote obscure movies that needed more love, Steve promoted the most popular movies, but Eddie always tried to vary his choices. One week he’d go for a cheesy comedy, the next a heartbreaking romance, or an action-filled epic. The board usually helped business, and most of the recommended videos were sold out by Wednesday. 

“Hey, Eddie, did you know that the same person always rents your movie recommendations?” Robin said, staring at the computer.

“Who, Dustin?” Eddie joked.

“No, it’s Y/N L/N.”

“Who’s that?” Eddie asked.

“Actually, she’s right there, talking to Steve.”

Robin pointed to you, and as Eddie looked up, you two made eye contact. You smiled softly at him, blushing, and he smiled back, waving. Steve noticed and looked back at Eddie, then turned back and told you a few things. You and Steve talked for a minute, then you hugged Steve and left. Figures, Eddie thought. No one would want to pay attention to him.

A couple days later, you came back to return the video. Everyone else was on their lunch break, so Eddie was alone, lounging and watching a movie. When he heard you enter, he started and scrambled to his feet, smoothing his vest and smiling goofily.

“Um, hi,” he said, fixing his hair.

“Hi,” you said, blushing. “I, um, I need to return this video,” you said, handing the movie back to him.

“Ah, another one of my classic choices,” Eddie said half to himself.

“You’re Eddie?” you said with wide eyes.

“Guilty,” Eddie said awkwardly. “Why?”

“Because I love your movie recommendations, I rent every single one of them!” you said excitedly, grabbing his hand. Eddie looked down at your hand and blushed, so you took it away quickly. 

“I’m sorry, I’m just so excited to meet you, I can’t believe we haven’t run into each other before,” you said a little quieter. “I’m Y/N.”

“No, it’s all good, it’s, um, it’s nice to meet you, Y/N.”

“You too, Eddie,” you smiled sweetly. “I’m glad we’re finally meeting.”

“Eh, I know I’m not as good as Steve, so,” he drifted off, smiling awkwardly.

“What? You’re talking about Steve Harrington?” you said, shocked.

“Yeah, I mean, isn’t he a ‘verified cutie’ among the girls?” Eddie said bitterly.

“Not in comparison to you,” you blurted, then stopped yourself. “I’m sorry, that was way too forward, I didn’t mean to say that out loud!”

“No, it’s alright, don’t worry about it,” Eddie smirked. “It’s good to hear that King Steve isn’t universally irresistible.”

“Far from it, but I’ve known him since I was a kid, so I can always see the awkward preteen in him. Maybe that’s got something to do with it,” you shrugged.

“I can’t imagine Steve being awkward, but hey, we all have those days. Or years,” Eddie chuckled. “But anyway, would you like to hear what I’m planning for my next movie recommendation?”

“Yes, please! I always look forward to your choices, I’ve loved all of them so far!”

“Okay, here it is,” he said, handing you a video. 

“A Room with a View?”

“Yeah, it’s a nice historical film, inspired by a book,” Eddie said nervously. “A little romance, you know?”

“It sounds great,” you said, looking at the video. “Would you- would you maybe want to come over and watch it with me? I could use an expert’s commentary,” you blushed.

“Oh, um, sure, yeah, I’d really like that,” Eddie smiled. “When?”

“Is tonight too soon? When do you get off of work?”

“Tonight works, I’ll leave early, Steve can make it on his own.”

“Are you sure?”

“Believe me, he owes me,” Eddie chuckled, making you smile.

“Okay then, it’s a date,” you blushed. “Thanks, Eddie,” you said, holding out some money.

“It’s on me,” he said, holding his hands up. “Shall I pick up a pizza too?”

“Yeah, for sure,” you smiled. “Here, this is my address,” you said, grabbing a scrap piece of paper and scribbling down your address. 

“Thanks, Y/N, I’ll see you around six,” Eddie smiled, pocketing the paper.

“See you then, Eddie,” you smiled brightly, turning to leave.

“See you, Y/N,” Eddie blushed. “And for the record,” he said, making you turn back to him. “I think you’re pretty cute too.”
