Hi~ if you're interested, here's a scenario for you:

While talking with an acquaintance, the conversation drifts into the topic of anime since they learn you've watched quite a few shows already. They ask you for recommendations and, when pressed for specifics, they say something along the lines of "I don't really have a specific preference." (This is, of course, untrue—everyone has their yays and nays, and maybe this person just doesn't know theirs. Since they're just an acquaintance, you probably wouldn't know either.)

So as you look into their gleaming curious eyes:

What will you consider before giving a recommendation(s)?

What show(s) would you recommend?

(Note: this is entirely for funsies so please feel free to opt out or to take your time! ☺)

Damn this is like my worst nightmare come true 😂 It's so hard to give recommandation because it depends on one's personal taste, but also a person's state of mind (if you don't want to watch a drama because you're not in the mood for it, you won't want to watch a show even if it's the greatest drama ever produced), openess to new experiences, and tolerance to bullshit such as 2nd hand embarrassment/fanservice/anime grunts/etc.

I'm basing this a lot on the weeb/ass/shit scale, which grades anime by the amount of anime/japanese culture knowledge needed to enjoy it, the amount of fanservice, and its overall quality. But within each tier, you could probably create subtiers (genre subtier, trope subtier, music subtier, etc,).

To note: a lot of the recs are series I watched recently or remember at the top of my mind, so there's this bias to consider.

Depending on how well I know my acquaintance and their tastes, I would go like this:

entry level. something which is easily accessed and understood by most people with minimal (to none) anime/Japan culture knowledge: most if not all Studio Ghibli movies, Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, maybe Inuyasha (because of like cultural osmosis and its impact on the early 2000s anime scene), Raven of the Inner Palace, Akagami no Shirayukihime, slice of life or introspective shows (such as Sousou no Frieren's first cour, Spy x Family)

slightly above entry level. something which needs a bit of trope/cultural knowledge (like the importance of high school student councils or usual HS/romance/love triangle tropes), but could be appreciated even without because of solid writing/animation and minimal (to none) fanservice/2nd hand embarrassment: Mob Psycho 100, Akatsuki no Yona, Noragami, Skip to Loafer, Kimi ni Todoke, Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion to an extent (with warning about the way the plot goes wild and the fanservice and innuendo between teens and adults), Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, Detective Conan

something which requires a good grasp/recognition of tropes as well as willing to engage and think because of the way the anime is tackling and deconstructing tropes: Princess Tutu, RGU (with a lot of content warnings)

classic shonen vibes (aka fanservice galore, tournament arc/powering up tropes, etc): Kimetsu no Yaiba, early Naruto or Bleach

mindfuck but good: Mononoke, NGE (to an extent)

good/entertaining but the fanservice is going to be a MAJOR turn off: Soul Eater, Ranma 1/2, Lupin III movies/OVAs

You might have noticed but most of the series I've listed are relatively short, about 12-24 episodes (except for Inuyasha, SM, FMA, DetCo, and Ranma which are >100 episodes), since I think recommending a long-running series might scare some people away. That (and/or the pretty important amount of fanservice), is also why I didn't include big 'staples' like Naruto, Bleach, YYH, HXH, etc. regardless of my personal enjoyment or taste.

Most of what I like are fantasy/romances (like SAFT, My Happy Marriage, KamiHaji) or niche shows like Cybersix. I wouldn't recommend these to an acquaintance because of how close these series can be to me and how I don't want to put them up for judgement. I can be a bit defensive of my taste ^^

Thank you for the ask! It wasn't an easy exercise, but one I've been unconsciously doing on my own for a while, so it's nice to finally have it in writing if the need ever occurs!

I hava had a idea of fic some time ago, and i want to share it with you since you like both Ray and Isabella and their relationship. Wll i already spoke about it with other tumblr but you seems to really love Isabella so i want to speak about it with you too =))

It starts after the evasion. When Isabella faces Peter, she is still promoted at the Grandpa's place BUT she has to have a child to replace Ray. A Child that she has to raise to be a perfect premium child to replace the lost premium child. Peter also tells her that Ray is her son (she already know but she is a good actor).

Now for the child. Either it's a boy/girl who will be the new premium, either it's both a boy and a girl, the boy to be the next premium and the girl to be the futur perfect mama. The worst? The children will know. They will not be raised in a farm but in the headquarters.

Isaballa still manages to win over the sisters, in the same way that she has in her one-shot. The sisters also feel a little bad for her because…well their children have been took away from them at birth, they didn't raised them themself. Isabella will have to raise their children to be killed (and to continue the circle if it's the twins thing) even if they learns that she has already did it with Ray. (Bonus, a girl from the farm, that Isabella recommanded as sister helps her and is very protective of her, because you know, she understands.)

Now for the attacks on the headquarters by the kids, Peter still do the proposition to Isabella: give her her freedom and a life in the humans world. He says that she'll be able to take the child(ren) with her, of course. Of course, since premium farms will be destroyed, he can give their freedom to the mamas and to Isabella's kids, right? It's not like if they will be useful in his new farm system, right? That's the best way to assure that they will support him (well in his eyes)

Either she must leave Ray to them to be killed, either Peter says "by children I also mean Ray, of course" because he thinks that giving her freedom + all her kids will assure her support, that force her to abandon her first child could push her to betray him (hey, he's not wrong). And after all, the premium farms will be abolished, so a child more or less, it will not change much. If she helps him, he can give her this rebellious kid that Ray is.

Of course, Isabella, while loving her own children, doesn't want to abandon the ones she raised. No sisters or mamas want to abandons the kids (and their own children who are still alive) now that there are a "chance" to be free. A chance to start a rebellion.

Now for the next thing, i see two possibilities

Isabella dies. Like in the manga. Everything is the same, except she apologizes to Ray and tells him "take care of you sibling(s)" and Ray doesn't understand first (and thinks it's about the rest on the grace field kids). He only learns the truth by Sienna and Matilda (+ the former Grace Field girl who became a sister) after been arrived in the human world, and…well it's a shock. He doesn't feel replaced. No. He feels sick because of what Peter forced his mother to do AGAIN and because of she must have lived. (this asshole is lucky to be dead, he says) he is torn, because that's his blood sibling(s), but he has to find Emma. The former Grace Field sister proposes to babysit them while he search Emma, he can be with them, takes them with him, but if he has to go away, she can watch them. Ray will ferocely love them. and will sing the lubally every nights for them while they're babies and then toddlers (he's their favorite and he is very smug about it toward the other grace field children). And he will NEVER speaks badly about Isabella with them.

Isabella survives. She is just severely wounded. But it was not a lethal wound and a doctor from the Ratri clan has helped to band this wound. But still it will take some time to heal. She has to rest for a while. Ray still learns the truth in the human world. He is still shocked and outraged by what Peter has done. He still devasted because Emma is not her. But his mother is severely wounded; and his sibling(s)…He doesn't want to leavr them. Not now that everything is.... He's finally convinced to search Emma but he will visit very often, for sure. And if he lives with them, it's for the child(ren), of course. (nobody believe him)

Yaayy big fanfic idea let’s gooo!!

Okay, first off, the idea of Isabella having another kid never sat well with me and I promise this is no jab against you. It's just that back when s2ep11 aired lots of people believe she was shown to have another kid during the ending slideshow and it is the one thing I will deny with every fiber of my being. There’s no way that woman was her and I will literally not change my mind about it.

HOWEVER, while I think Isabella wouldn’t have another kid by her own free will due to her past and own personal feelings towards Leslie, Ray & the other kids she raised, I will concede and say that if she truly did have another, it would be because she was forced to do so, if only to show she’s still of use to the farm and to keep herself alive since we all know how greatly she values her own survival.

It would be so interesting to see how she would react if Peter told her about Ray being her actual son. Yeah she already knows, but I wanna see the act she puts on in front of him to feign ignorance. Would she pretend to get real emotional and break down in tears? Or be completely baffled and speechless? I’d love to watch that performance of hers. No doubt Peter would fall for it hook, line and sinker.

Ohhh imagine if she did have a girl. That kid would be so pretty. But ahh, if Isabella knew she had a girl she’d be so scared for it knowing fully well what kind of future awaits the child once it reaches twelve. I dunno how well the kid will do being raised in headquarters though? The whole point of the orphanage lifestyle the system puts all the children through is so that they can grow up healthy with rich emotions. The child certainly won’t get the exercise or love it needs being stuck inside headquarters, especially if it knows the truth of the world they were born into.

Of course Isabella would still win the other sisters over. No one defeats the queen. I can see how Matilda & the others could sympathize with Isabella. I mean, they were surprised already once Isabella handed them the goodbye note from Ray but once the sisters learned their own kids were still alive, they did experience a range of emotions. But oh my god, I didn’t even think of the possibility of having twins! I wonder if that’s ever happened? It must have over the many years the farm system was in place, we probably just dunno any set of twins personally. (Oh but wait, they all get pregnant via artificial insemination, so I dunno if that affects the chances of it or not? My medical knowledge is nonexistent.)

Regardless, Isabella would 100% be protective of any of her actual kids. This is clear as day as she already sacrificed herself for Emma and they’re not even blood related. Ah, damn.. I just thought of the same ch177 scenario only the demon targeted Ray instead and Isabella jumped in to his life. Oh boy, that would definitely make me sob uncontrollably.

Peter would say anything even remotely assuring in order to get Isabella on his side. He can flaunt a twisted idea of freedom all he wants but she’s gonna see through his schemes no matter what. Naturally, she would only accept the offer in order to use her new position of power against him.

I’ll admit I was confused about the whole “new farm system,” but that’s because it was Peter’s idea and I don’t think about him much at all. But yeeaah that’s right, he did plan to discontinue the usual system and replace it with the style that Lambda uses.. that's terrifying. He would definitely want Iabella’s kids (real & those raised) for such a facility since she has a knack for preparing high grade merch. Of course Isabella would fight back against that plan because no one would want their kid to undergo such experiments. Well, she did send Norman there but that was way back when she didn’t nearly have as much power as she does now as Grandma. Also wasn't exactly her choice.

Oof, the idea of her having to sacrifice Ray in order to save so many others.. aahh I dunno what she would do! No mother should ever have to choose between their own kids. Oh, Isabella would probably offer herself up instead. Surely she’s worth more to the farm compared to Ray or a bunch of other kids. Either that or to start a rebellion that Isabella can no doubt pull off with great success.

Ah, Isabella’s death.. my least favorite thing to happen in the manga. But okay, I LOVE that idea of how Ray would react to learning about a potential sibling. Not feeling replaced but so angry at the farm for putting his mother through so much more pain and suffering.. oh that’s an idea I can get behind. Ray has always hated the farm, but he labeled Isabella as the enemy while at Grace Field because she was the closest option and the literal reason behind his own pain. Post-escape is when his feelings (& everyone else’s) of Isabella changed, as they learned more about the world and how it works, which is why they were all able to forgive her, since she was a victim to the system just as they were.

Having to choose between searching for Emma or looking after his sibling, my poor Ray wants to help everyone so much aww. Again, such a hard choice. To go after the girl you literally owe your entire life to or look after your young, sibling he's actually related to? Ohh but of course he would sing them the lullaby! No questions asked! Ahh I wish we had the chance to hear him sing it once more during the story. I know many RE fics have him sing it while Emma is in her coma after GP and I adore that idea with all my heart. The other moment I personally wish it happened was during ch177 as Isabella was on her death bed. I forget if I had mentioned this during that ch review or somewhere else, but having him sing it to her during her last moments would’ve been so powerful. We know Isabella hummed it to herself to keep herself strong, so having her hear Ray do the same while he’s in tears and finally accepting her as his mother.. ow, my poor heart would’ve been in shambles.

Pfftt, smug Ray is one of my favorite things. He would totally rub it in everyone’s faces that his siblings like him best! We know Norman is Sherry’s favorite as Emma is to Phil, but Ray doesn’t really have that one kid who always goes to him, ya know? Sure Chris and Jemima have their moments with him later on, but there isn’t one kid who clearly labels Ray as their favorite. And that is a shame because hello? He is best boy, what’s wrong with everyone else?? Hahaa.. it’s okay, Ray’s still my favorite.

Ah, Isabella alive and well.. the best thing to come out of the second season. That’s really all I wanted in life, for her and Ray to make up and bond like a normal mother and son would. I know many people think he still holds a grudge against her and he would only tolerate her at best, but it would be a work in progress! I’m not saying they would be all lovey dovey at first, I’m sure it’s gonna take some time for them to get over their own pain, but eventually they would be on great terms. (I just wanna see them chill out and sing the lullaby together, that’s all!)

No doubt that even while recovering, Isabella would help Ray & the others in any way possibly to search for Emma. Hell, they might even find her sooner with Isabella’s insight. That may be just me giving her too much credit, but surely the chess master could formulate some decent ideas on where the kids could look. Isabella would definitely not give up on Emma and this would be a big step on her road to redemption (even though I always say her redemption began as soon as she admitted defeat when the kids first escaped).

Some of you were interested in seeing the process, so here it is! I’m not quite sure if there is anything useful in here but i’ll try to explain how i worked on this the best i can, and if you have any specific question, feel free to ask it /o/

This was the basic sketch for this commission. I used an oval hardedge brush with some transparency to it (depending on the pressure of the pen) on a new layer (drawing directly on the background color would only bring problems later on).

I knew that character would have blue skin and was not really sure what “blue skin” would actually look like, so i started with some black and withe values for her face (new layer in Normal mode, same brush).

Once i had my basic values i was able to work on the color without worrying too much about the volume of the face. The way i brought that color in was actually a mess... i created a variety of blue layers and then played with their blending mode until i met a result that was not terrible. I then created a new layer (normal) and painted on top of this result to bring back some of the values that had been lost during this. This was by far the most chaotic part of the process and only luck made it work in the end :’)

CTRL+SHIFT+E gave me a new flat image with everything i had done until now (i had the background color in this too because i f* up but i would recommand not to do this haha). I worked on top of it on a new layer (normal) and started painting the wings, casting strong shadows under each layer of feathers to make them pop more.

i used the lasso tool to create those sharp edges, either painting the shadow or filling it in with the color gradient tool. Nothing incredible and i’m not a fan of those tools, but they ended up being very useful here to create a good base for the painting

To bring some light to the side of the character I created a new layer (put it in Color Dodge blending mode), chose a light redish color and painted with a very large and soft brush on the edge of the cape.

The brown/orange feathers and blue skin created a strong contrast that i liked, in some ways, but it also made them feel like they didn’t really belong to the same image, so i brought some of the brown from the wings on the living algas of her dress. (yep, they are alive. i took some liberties with the design compared to the ref i had. I didn’t want them to look like “a dress made out fo alga” and more like alga clinging to her skin and taking that shape from its own will? Sort of.)

Next step is really just painting on a new normal layer with the same hard-edge brush as always to create those details and textures.

I used a “black and white” layer to verify the values and this was way too “flat” for my taste so i created a new Multiply layer to create some shadows and volume:

So that’s what i ended up with and i was happy with it so i just painted in the last details and objects and i was done! (if anyone is wondering, the scribles on the foot say “REF” because i realy needed a photo reference to paint this nightmare body part.)

Final one, tadaaa. Now that it’s done i’m a bit ashamed that i didn’t have more useful things to say about that process haha :’)

The main thing i learned from this one was to always keep a “Black and White” layer on top of everything, so i can check my values from time to time.

Do you think it's absolutely necessary to play the DLCs for the dragon age games? I'm finishing Origins soon but will I not understand DA2 without playing Awakening?

Honestly I think everything is more or less understandable without the dlcs of dao at least, but I truly, truly think it’s better to have the dlcs in mind.

Awakening especially pave the path to major plotpoints in the next few games. While the next few games will explore those points more in depth, I feel like Awakening gives another outlook on those perticular points. One of them influencing the development of one of the main character of da2. So I definitly think Awakening is needed to play - and besides, its events are taken into account while carrying on your timeline in the next few games.

DA has this very bad habit to make their dlcs almost essensial. Worst is in da2- the dlc called Legacy has SO MUCH PLOT IMPORTANCE when it comes to dai, so i can’t stress enough how important this dlc is in particular. (also, for exemple, there are a lot of mentions in dai of the character you get via the Exiled Prince dlc in da2.....)

As it is, the neglectable dlcs are in Origins: You can totally avoid playing Darkspawn Chronicles, Leliana’s song and Tale of Orzammar since none are ultimately not incorporated into the timeline. Leliana’s song though give some insight on Leliana’s character and eventually why she developped the way she did. Darkspawn Chronicles give you a few easter eggs and lore stuff, but it’s completely neglectable. Tale of Orzammar can be completely ignored, unless you want more details over the Noble Dwarf background, but it’s seriously not that great nor interesting and is really quick either way.

I’d say Golem of Amarrak and Witch Hunt are neglectable, although Witch Hunt also pave the way in understanding some storylines in the future games, so i’d say Witch Hunt is still important to play. GoA is ultimately neglectable, although it brings a bit of lore that is always interesting if you’re lore hungry.

Not to mention there are 3 major plot dlcs in dao itself - Stone Prisoner which give you a new companions - it doesn’t bring too much more to the story, but everyone who played it would tell you this companion is just too great to be ignored. Return to Ostagar, neglectable as well, but extremely melancholic and emotionally touching when done with Wynne and Alistair, so i definitly recommand it still. Also, some lore stuff about why Loghain ultimately betrayed Cailain. Soldier’s Peak is interesting on a lore pov and imo makes some events of later games better to understand? Like.... I really think there is something of value in what we learn in Soldier’s peak.

STILL THOUGH those little dlcs are neglectable to a point, if you want - it’s just that, once you’ll set up your tapesry for dai, you’ll get to answer the dlcs stuff either way so orz. It is included in the timeline.

Awakening, imo, isn’t neglectable, and is really important for some others stuff to know.

Also it’s the official sequel to Origins, so i guess there’s that.

for da2, the only neglectable dlc is Mark of the Assassin, but even there you get a few lore tidbits that are mentioned in dai later, so it’s still fun to play.

As for dai, Trespasser is essensial since it’s the true ending of the game - the two others dlcs explore lore stuff that were never exploded before, (The Avvar’s lore and some lore from the Dwarves that was never explored before) so i’d say it’s really important if you like digging lore like i do.

SO MY POINT IS

Technically you can neglect the dlcs, but the full experience come from playing them. Before starting da2, it’s better to have played Awakening and Witch Hunt at least, and if you have the patience, the Golem of Amarrak as well. Awakening especially. You can neglect the in game dao’s dlcs but like i said, Soldier’s Peak at least pave the way to other plotpoints that will be discussed later in the saga, and the two others dlcs are mostly very great emotionally speaking.

in da2, Mark of the Assassin is neglectable but will be mentioned later so it may be confusing to not play it, Exiled Prince is good t know about for the same reasons, and Legacy is extremely important to play before playing dai.

and for dai, trespasser is essensial for the game, and the two others dlcs (the descent and jaw of hakkon) are honestly so interesting lorewise I wouldn’t recommand skipping them.

Don’t get me wrong tho i have no pleasure insisting on it. I think it completely blows that so much important events had to be added in and had to be paid for to have them. But unfortunately, i think the full experience come from playing all of them orz.

For the record - if you don’t want to buy the dlcs for DAO, note that they are downloable for free on the wikipedia. Just follow what is said. Awakening is the only dlc you have to pay for. (I didn’t mention it because the link I gave for dao in my previous post had dao+the dlcs+daoa at 10€, meanwhile buying Origins and Awakening separately without the dlcs is far more expensive. But, if you already have origins and what those dlcs, here they are. Although note the official order to play the chronological dlcs are Awakening -> GoA-> Witch Hunt)

DA2′s dlcs are sadly only available through payment and they’re fucking expensive - and DAI’s dlcs are included in the Game of The Year edition of the game to a fair price. Those are the versions i linked in my previous post.

Prompt: none, just my brain getting ideas at 7.30 AM when I’m on the bus, half asleep, on my way to University. Send help.

It was 7:30AM and you were late. You had planned to wake up early, get ready and get on the train at 7, so that you could be in Manhattan at 7:15, get breakfast in Times Square and get in front of the theatre at 7:30. You wanted to give a wonderful 1st impression on the ensemble cast on your first day; but of course, something had not to go through plans. You had woken up early, showered, got dressed in time and got to Times Square at 7:15. You had gotten to Starbucks but the line was too long, because some theatre genius decided to order 55 coffees and you were right after. So, when the clock stroke 7:30 you decided to grumpily leave and go to a much more expensive place near the theatre and get a coffee to go to drink in the 30 spare minutes you had left. Well, technically 10 to 15, because, once again; line. Your nerves were tense, your stomach was clenching and you were trembling. What if they hated you? What if you didn’t remember everything you learned in school? What If you messed everything up? What if, what if, what if… 8AM. It was time to get in. With an unsteady step you made your way in front of the theatre, where a not-so-kind looking doorman was staring at you. “Can I help you, miss?” He asked, folding his arms in front of his chest. “Uh…My name is [Y/N] [Y/F/N]. I start today?” You said, but your statement came out more as a question. The man checked his list and nodded. “Up the stairs, last room to the left. They are waiting for you.” You thanked the man and walked in the theatre, your anxiety rising with every step you took. You reached the room in no time, took a deep breath and then knocked on the door. A loud “come in”, invited you in the room. You were finally working on Hamilton, you could say you were in the room where it happened. [Ok, I’m not a funny narrator, but you and I both know I was about to say that]. You walked in, and tried to put on a smile, even though it was obvious you were nervous. “H-hi. My name is [Y/N]. It’s an honour to be here and to meet you all.” You said and Lin smiled. It was a full cast and tech meeting, since Lin wanted to make sure everyone felt like it was a big family. “Hi! I’m Lin-Manuel Miranda, but you can call me Lin! Welcome to the family!” He said, hugging you and smiling at you. The man was a bubble of energy, suddenly you felt less tense and managed to smile a genuine smile. “Hi, I’m Thomas Kail, I direct the show!” said Thomas, and proceeded to hug you. You hugged back and smiled. All by one, the rest of the techs presented themselves and you started the daily meeting smoothly, only to be rudely interrupted half an hour later by a very attractive man storming in screaming “I FOUND HIM”; then proceeded to run to the chair you were sat in and scoffed when he saw you in it. “Lin, who is she and what is she doing in my chair?” He said. His voice was something beautiful. “She’s [Y/N]. She’s our new stage tech. She’ll be a sort of assistant to you, Lac. [Y/N], this is Alex Lacamoire, we call him Lac. He’s the director of the orchestra and the guy who helped me with the arrangements for both Hamilton and Heights, but you probably already know him,” he said, and you nodded, sticking out your hand for Lac to shake it. He smiled at you, took it briefly and looked at you as if he had to ask you something. Lin had started to explain what had to be done again, only to stop after a few minutes because it was obvious that Lac staring at you was making you not feel at ease. “Lac, is there anything wrong?” Asked Lin. “Uh, she’s in my chair.” Lac replied, scratching the back of his head. Lin rolled his eyes and shaked his head and rolled his eyes. “Lac, there’s plenty of other chairs.” “No, it’s no problem. Here. I’ll move over there, it’s ok,” you said, smiling and changing seat. Lac sat down in his chair and you went to seat next to Thomas, at the end of the table. “Ok, well. I was done anyway. You may go to work. [Y/N], good luck for your first day! Lac, before you follow the others, a word.” You left the room confused. You had tried to seem oblivious you didn’t know Lin, Thomas or Lac, but you had fangirlied so hard over the fact that you were going to work side by side with them. And see a show that was completely sold out every night, with a wonderful cast, for free AS YOUR JOB, was an amazing thing for you. You made your way to the orchestra pit, following Georgie, one of the techs that worked in the sound area, where you had to work. You and Georgie chatted a bit, since you weren’t sure what you really had to do, Lin said something that went with the lines of “you’re Lac’s assistant”, so you had to wait for Lac to come in and give you direction. “Yo, Georgie. Do you call Mr. Lacamoire ‘Lac’ or Alex?” you asked, not being sure. “Uh...Either Lac or Alex. He’ll answer to almost anything. Don’t worry, he’s a funny guy, everything will go well,” she said. You hang out backstage until it he came back and told you to just “go upstairs and enjoy the show.” You can’t really disobey your boss, right?

Don't know if you take ask !? ^^ But I'm a bit depressed honestly, in one weekend I lost 2 shows Ouat and Aos they are dead to me, that 'reboot' really doesn't pass :/ and that new Jemma and Leo separation is ridiculous and not tolerable for me :( so I'm sad... I have not much to watch anymore. Do you have something to recommand? I watched the first Absentia, Stana is fucking amazing as always ( ;) ) but I still see Kate lol and it's very angsty ^^' Sorry if I disturb you. :-)

anyway, I get your feelings about OUAT & AOS. the reboot doesn’t fit for me either. I didn’t like 7x01 much & I’ll cry my soul out on friday. Jen is everything to me but I’ll still give the new OUAT a chance bc of Colin but I’ll probably rant about it non-stop. But I get why you feel like this about it & you can do whatever you like 😊

With AOS it’s the same. Of course I’d like Fitzsimmons to be not seperated & be happy for once but I still see the great reunion that’s going to come out off this. With how things were going for us lately I’m gonna keep my expectations low for sure but I’m still gonna continue watching. but feel free to quit if you want to that’s all your choice 😊

Absentia is so good & Stana is slaying it for sure but yeah I see her as Kate too. I always will be.

If you watched Castle & I’m sure you did bc you mentioned Kate I’d recommend Lucifer. It has the same vibe as Castle & it’s FUCKING INCREDIBLE. also Stranger Things. but it’s even more angsty than Absentia so I’m not sure it’s something for you? oh & also Criminal Minds. but I’ve a list on my blog & also some shows in my description that I watch so I can recommend them all. but I’d love for you to come off anon so we can even more talk about this 😊

First things first: The mentormount in FFXIV – it still seems to be unknown for many players. And as much as I have heard in the last weeks, worldwide are (so far) not many players known to have completed the challenge of obtaining the Astrope. Considering a report I had read ca. two months ago, the known mentors with the Astrope had been worldwide 53 players – mostly located in Japan.

Quote of my project: “Ich möchte eine von den Bekloppten sein, die auf ihrem Riesen-Gaul durch die Gegend gurken.” ('I want to be one of those loonies, who cruise on their giant-moke through the region.')

Well, while I tried to do these 2.000 mentor-roulette-runs needed for the mount, I met several co-mentors who were as eager as me to get it before Stormblood comes out. (So, the number will surely increase a bit.)

For example, I'm sure my buddy from Cerberus – Raida Sameluck – owns it since a short timespan (because we haven't met anymore); my fellow-sufferer Aranwe Gyrhan soon completes the last remaining runs; and Zelyphia Arkanas whom I adore for her cute monk-outfit plus skills will not stop until she has succeeded. Also, my friend plus fellow player from Shiva – Nik Matsumoto – was a huge motivation for me to do this, since he owned the mount already when I, having barely more than 70 runs, met him for the first time in Idyllshire.

Although I had done a few runs starting with the 10. December 2016 when I unlocked my mentor-roulette, the project itself started truthfully around the 27. December and took time until 03. March 2017, 16 o'clock. Whenever I could, I did every day 20 runs as a minimum – sometimes I got 30 runs, rarely almost 40, and a single day, I was lucky to get 50 runs completed. Doing the mentor-roulette means to be forced to face whatever you get – and this can be like 90% of content from the whole game. As I'm not picky, I love doing dungeons, but I got to see more low level dungeons than anything else – Sastasha being for sure the one I have seen at the most, so I started to suffer slowly under disorientation there. :chuckle:

The Lv50 EX Fights were a huge problem, though, and despite beating a few of the primals, Ramuh EX was the only exemplar which I could never beat with the random players in my parties; not a single time. This may or not be so because of the french players I got, but the mainproblem here is probably rather the fact, how many newcomers rush the game.

This is a harsh personal opinion, but let's face it: Many newcomers take no time to get to know the game – and often, important cross-skills from other classes than their mainclass are missing like Gladiator's Provoke for the other two tanks or Thaumaturge's Swiftcast for the healers. Things which you definitely need for these fights, synced.

Additional, some people walk blindly into the EX fights and THEN ask innocently about the strategy – a fact, which annoys me in spite of my wish to help out, since everything you have to know stands around in the internet (in your native language). Either you try blindly or you inform yourself when you DON'T have a time-limit in your neck, because stress is no good teacher at all.

I also don't say new ones should do everything unsync in LV50, because it's positive for the personal experience to try stuff out the way it was meant to be done, yet it's important to do these things NOT alone with random groups via the Dutyfinder. End up as English/German player with a group of 7 french persons and be not able to communicate with them properly – classical situation for me who can barely talk this language. Je ne parle pas francais.

I'm still surprised my very last run was an ordinary guildhest instead of a dungeon or bossfight --- had been very sure to get Sastasha, since it had also been my 1.800 run. The feeling it left was quite odd, and my first thought was a clumsy “I'm free.” instead of anything epic. That phrase echoed for 10 minutes in my mind, and I'm aware of the fact how Aladin- or rather Genie-/Dschinni-like this is, but it was surely not intentional. Although I started to feel right on the next day, that something is missing now for me – got too used to my mentor-routine, wherefore now an empty feeling is left in the place where the personal duty lay before.

Still, I thank all the players who accompanied me on my way through the roulettes – no matter if they knew it or not, and if they were juniors or seniors.

I also thank my friends from Shiva – at the most those who are/were in my FC Heavenly Strike and stay in contact with me. You helped me surviving this personal task with all your conversations in the chat.
