Saturday's coming to an end for me so I thought I would quickly throw this together. This inspiration is more of a thanks to everyone who engages with my writing posts, your comments, reblogs and likes mean so much to me and constantly inspire me to keep writing.

I got a few about my Bank Robbery fic (working title: Mutually Assured Destruction) and they made my day so thanks to everyone else who showed it some love.

It inspired me to write this:

Athena pulls him to the boot of a squad car, she makes him take his turnout coat off before offering him a bulletproof vest. He straps it on, the movements like riding a bike and bringing back memories of another time when Eddie was in danger and Buck just stood there unable to protect him. Of Eddie lying on the street, blood pooling out of him and the taste of copper on Buck’s tongue.  “I know that look,” Athena says  Buck looks up from the asphalt under his boots, blinking away the red stains he takes her in, she’s holding the medkit that he’s supposed to deliver to Eddie because someone is hurt and if Eddie’s asking for it, it means he’s not hurt. Yet.   “What look?” He asks “That’s your ‘about to go full Buck’ face.” “I’m not going to-” “And you better not," She points her finger at him, "because that man over there,” She gestures over her shoulder to where Bobby is standing next to the fire truck, his hands are moving and it’s hard from this distance to see but Buck would bet anything that he's got his rosemary out, “Will not forgive himself if you do and get yourself hurt okay?” Buck nods, his head feels simultaneously heavy as stone and like it will blow away if there’s a strong gust.  “Buck, I know you care about Maddie and Eddie, hell,” she shakes her head, “I don’t think I’ll be able to unhear you screaming for Eddie when you realised it was him,” Buck frowns, he doesn’t remember screaming, “But the best thing for them is to get them this medkit, gather some info and get out of there okay? I need you to understand that putting yourself in danger is only going to make this worse okay?” Buck repeats, “Give Eddie the medkit, gather info and get out.” Athena sighs like she doesn’t believe him, he doesn’t even believe himself at this point, “Don’t make me regret this Evan Buckley.”

RYAN LOPEZ CAUSES A STINK AT WAYNE ENTERPRISE FUNDRAISER

“you do realize the invitation said formal wear?” bruce held his expression, deprecating amusement showing in the lifted corners of his mouth, and he could see others in the room looking at the woman in front of him with open shock.

“get off it, wayne. you know i can’t read,” ryan lopez said with a lazy wave of her hand. he wanted to laugh, truly laugh, as lopez lifted her chin and bared her teeth in a smile. she enjoyed making others uncomfortable, loved putting her new contemporaries on edge, and she was thriving on the looks of disgusted astonishment. unfortunately, he couldn’t give her the look that she had worked so hard for. not when he respected her commitment. the latest news had taken to calling her penthouse trash, moving up from trailer trash, and the illiterate joke had been circulating since her societal debut.

“could have saved this look for your own company’s benefit,” he pointed out. he’d spent too much time near her, he needed to leave and mingle properly, but lopez was always surprising him. he would leave and put on the show expected of him, but he wanted another moment with the woman who treated him like any other man.

“felt like doing something special for you,” she told him through a grin. as he looked down at her, she rocked up onto the toes of her battered leather boots and locked onto his eyes. “if you owned wolfe industries though, i’d show up in one of those pretty glittering dresses.”

he made a show of considering her words, let his eyes move leisurely across her body to take in the bared skin and prominent scars before meeting her eyes again, and he made note of the subtle changes in her posture. still on her toes, now with her knees angled to the side. hands at her sides, with her fingers starting to curl inwards. wide smile getting tight in the corners. she was either preparing to fight or to run. he’d seen her do both.

“your natural look is more preferable,” he said with a little too much sincerity. to cover, he dropped his eyes to the swath of skin on display across her midsection and then looked up long enough to wink before turning on his heel. as he called out and raised his hand in greeting to a man standing next to a woman in a glittering dress, he kept seeing the look on lopez’s face. the roiling anger in her dark eyes, the slash of her mouth, the dark flush spreading to her cheeks. the not-so-quiet mutter of, “fuck you, wayne.” socializing had become less of a chore since the arrival of ryan lopez, and he wondered if one day he’d get to thank her for that.

Tease Tidbit Tuesday

Kicking off Tuesday with a snippet from a new WIP (I know I know but the ADHD is kicking my butt, I'm just following the dopamine).

“Of course Buck,” Anything for you He wants to add but instead he says, “Be safe.” Like a fucking idiot.  “I always try.” Eddie makes a ‘hmmph’ sound but doesn’t call Buck on the lie they both know it is. The line is quiet but neither of them makes to end the call. Eddie just listens to Buck breathe, it settles something in within himself, knowing that he’s alive on the other end of the line.  “Be safe yourself,” Buck finally says “Because tulle and lace is so dangerous,” Eddie deadpans Buck chuckles, “You know how those bridezillas get.” “I’m going to tell your sister that you called her a bridezilla.” Buck gasps in he’s over the top kind of way and Eddie can picture him holding his hand to his heart, “Don’t you dare! I’ll tell Chris what actually happened to his mint choc-chip ice cream last week.” “You wouldn’t,” Eddie says, smiling like an absolute fool, he knows Buck won’t rat him out like Buck knows he wouldn’t say anything to Maddie.  “Mutually assured destruction Eddie, Mutually assured destruction,” Buck says like he’s a villain in one of the telenovelas that Eddie swears he doesn’t watch but Buck has definitely caught him completely absorbed in.

I️ LOVE and ADORE Xaden going from “I️ don’t care about you or your feelings 🙄” to “Why wouldn’t I️ come for you and take you home? 🥺”

It really reminds me of this post where someone made the commentary about Xaden refusing to coddle and be nice to Violet, even downright being an asshole about it

To giving her his flight jacket because gods forbid Violet be cold for the 2-3 minutes they would’ve stood in formation!

Love love love that growth for him, like yes king! Tell us how much you love her through your actions! Give her that flight jacket and everything!

Chapter 35 was such a GIFT! I️ loved it so much! From Mira and Xaden shelving their dislike for each other for V’s sake and just mother henning her! Loved Xaden taking care of her and reaffirming that she can be upset at the threat against her hair and the autonomy she would have been robbed of, had Aetos actually cut it. I️ love how gentle he was, making sure she was okay, even arguing with Tairn about it on the flight home because their whole dynamic in canon is just over protective dragon meets over protective enemy to mutually assured destruction to lovers, and amari give us mercy that Violet gets injured around either one of them.

I️ was so shocked and legit almost cried at the confession because bby boy X was NOT letting her think that he didn’t love her! Really gives a whole “Aretia could burn and I️ wouldn’t care as long as I️ had you.” vibe to it and I️. Am. Not. Okay!!! I️ am not normal or sane about this love confession! V is getting some HONESTY out of this man without having to jump through 5 million hoops or questions about it. X really just said it with both tiddies and his full chest!!

I️ also really loved the display of Rhi and Xaden’s conversation. He knows how much Rhi means to Violet, and having her best friend with her is the best thing for her! I’m so nervous and excited to see if you include a convo with the rest of the squad about her torture sessions and just showing how much they all love her! Cam was right! Everyone who knows Violet Sorrengail is a little bit in love with her!!

I’m curious if Violet is gonna think about how she basically begged for her mom to come with them to Aretia, when she was freed and I️ wonder what Xaden would have done if Lilith had actually planned to go with her daughter… thoughts and theories I️ suppose!!

God Alli, there are so many little things about this chapter that I️ adored and so little time to write about it! I LOVE this fic so much that I️ always am ready to read the next chapter immediately! So ready!! I️ hope this doesn’t pressure you too much but I️ did want to say that I️ adore this fic so much!! 10/10 would highly recommend!!

Also I️ hope my sleep-deprived ramblings made sense lol! Thank you for such a wonderful story and I️ cant wait for the next chapter 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Xaden’s growth has been so fun to write. Just the little moments of his growing respect for Violet, realizing he actually likes her, falling in love—it’s been one of my favorite things about this fic

Thank you! I had a great time with the two contrasting sides of Xaden in this chapter: the version of him who loves Violet and will wipe her tears and do anything for her, and the version that is just an absolute asshole to anyone who isn’t her 😂 if your name isn’t Violet Sorrengail he really doesn’t give a fuck

There’s some squad bonding next chapter 🫶🏻

Violet will definitely be reckoning with that conversation with her mom at some point—Lilith said she’d come, but will she really? Xaden would let it happen for Violet, of course, but it wouldn’t be an easy adjustment lol
