Unpopular Obey Me opinion
Mammon's die-heart fans are making me hate the character.
(if you wanna hear my reasoning read below)
I think he is a sweet character, and sometimes the constant insults his brothers give him gets annoying. But ffs, he ain't a saint either.
There is a point where all you see in the obey me discussions is the fans complaining "such a sweet baby boy gets so much dirt and hate from his bros!", "i hate x brother, they hurt mammon!", "mammon is better than x, and if you don't agree you are wrong!", "i hate the devs for doing him so dirty!", etc..
And yes, he is a lovable character, like (imo) the rest of the OM cast, but he does have flaws, and terrible ones that make him a "scum" at times. His kleptomania, and obsession with money is bad. He has come to the point of hiding a camera in the rooms to sell nudes without consent. And to those ones saying "THATS NOT MY MAMMON. HE WOULD NEVER!!", well too bad but its cannon, the devs sometimes add questionable things in the game, and sometimes the characters act OOC. Also, his pushiness at times goes too far, and gets annoying as well. And his gambling habits, are problematic for his family and status too.
This is coming from someone who had to deal with an older brother who stole from my parents to gamble, and threw us to poverty.
I'm not saying I hate mammon, i love the character and he is my third fave. I'm just saying the obsession some people have to slander everyone and everything who "hurts" him, gets annoying imo. All the brothers are scum, they all behave shitty and problematic at times, and they insult each other as well.
The reason Mammon gets the most insults is because its a running joke between the devs. He is basically this character trope called Fubin (ふびん) that's basically a character who thinks highly of themselves but is pitiful and people around him consider him "stupid". And he is not the only one or the last one that gets annoying jokes as running gags.
But that's what the whole game is about. Dumbass demons who are supposed to be scary and evil but in the end are the biggest most lovable dummies, that can't help to always get each other in funny shenanigans.
In conclusion:
I love Mammon, but the fans get too crazy about the "slander" he gets, to the point of being annoying and rude with other fellow fans.
Siblings insult each other, sometimes in the most rude and hurtful ways, but at the end you learn to develop a thick skin because you love them despite everything. And the relationship the brothers have with each others is that way (and i find it quite realistic too).
They are demons in a comedy game

what's your hc on the nations' (im)mortality? is prussia a weird exception that proves the rule for you? is the concept of life and death not applicable to the nations?
its applicable! theyre born and then they die eventually. they just live a bit longer. u can think ab it like, oh wowww hes 500 years old, but thats still a very small slice of how long the earth has been turning...
im strongly in the camp of "they spring out of the dirt" for how theyre born, but a lot of people prefer the "they were human once" angle—which is fair, because there was one guy that explicitly was human once, became a nation, then gave up that status to age normally again. they called him out as an abnormality, but i think thats a nice way to end their lives. if its "they dissolve into dust instantly" vs "they age and die normally" i prefer the latter...
the immortality stuff is VERY VERY fun! i have a lot of thoughts on how the aphws universe works. i think their lives are dependent mostly on a group identity, somewhat on a land claim, and 0% on a political entity. i also think the Way They Work changed a lot with the modern age. like how in canon the fantasy elements faded as the world modernized, the Way They Work became a lot more grounded with that. theyre less fantastic than they used to be.

Recently, I've been slowly working on updating all my models from svc to rvc. Rvc is supposed to be much better and more efficient, especially since svc is no longer updated, but I actually haven't noticed that much of an improvement for a few of them(fubin's svc is much better). However, those that do see an improvement are often significantly improved, like shinsei and ice. I haven't tested rvc with very small 15 sec datasets like kyuuba and germa/nia so that'll be interesting.
Oh also there's a really annoying buzzing in the background if you use an rvc inference result in fl/s/tudio with the equalizer and I fucking hate that sooo much.

Motoraduno internazionale Madonnina dei Centauri 2023 a Castellazzo Bormida ad Alessandria
Con l’inizio di luglio tra Alessandria e Castellazzo Bormida tornano a rombare le moto per l’edizione numero 78 del Motoraduno internazionale Madonnina dei centauri, dove saranno tanti gli appassionati in arrivo dall’estero.
Gli eventi saranno organizzati dal Motoclub di Alessandria e di Castellazzo e si comincerà venerdì 7 luglio alle 12 con l’apertura dell’area raduno in viale della Repubblica e alle 16 si partirà per la gita nel comune di Masio dove ci sarà un aperitivo con vista panoramica del Monferrato.
Per la serata nell’area raduno ci saranno stand gastronomici e musica dal vivo e sabato mattina il giro turistico nell’alto Monferrato andrà nel territorio di Fubine e nel primo pomeriggio a Maranzana.
Alle 18 le delegazioni straniere si dirigeranno verso Alessandria per il picchetto d’onore, poi si partirà alla volta di Castellazzo per la cerimonia religiosa nel Santuario della Creta, patrona dei centauri.
Sul piazzale ci saranno le autorità locali con l’assegnazione delle damigelle d’onore ai primi centauri mentre Monsignor Gallese celebrerà la messa.
Domenica da Alessandria si formerà una colonna motorizzata che dal palazzo vescovile si dirigerà verso il Santuario e li, dopo la funzione religiosa, un nuovo corteo con in testa le autorità e il comitato d’onore tornerà in città per la parata conclusiva in piazza Garibaldi, con le premiazioni nel pomeriggio.
Il programma ufficiale a Castellazzo vedrà nel Santuario la mostra Moto d’epoca con la possibilità di ammirare pezzi unici, oltre al campeggio nel parco San Francesco per accogliere i centauri in arrivo.
Nel paese il motoraduno coincide con la tradizionale Sagra del raviolo del plin e della cima insieme anche alla Mezzanotte bianca.
La storia del Santuario della Creta cominciò quando Giovanni Viola, per ringraziare la Vergine di essere scampato alla peste, nel 1631 fece erigere una chiesetta campestre, con un campanile con una sola campana e il soffitto composto di cassettoni di legno artisticamente lavorati.
Sull’altare della chiesa c’era un quadro di Maria col titolo della Beata Vergine di Crea, quadro che oggi e sull’altare maggiore del Santuario.
Morto il fondatore, la chiesetta fu demolita nel 1764 e il quadro della Vergine venne sistemato in una nuova parrocchia, ma molte persone, in viaggio per Alessandria, si fermavano in quel luogo a pregare, al punto che l’Arciprete nel 1781fece edificare un pilone in mattoni e incaricò il pittore Giovanni Battista Bagliani di Bergamasco di dipingere un’immagine della Vergine, ancora oggi visibile nella rotonda a fianco dell’attuale Santuario.
Nel 1797 fu avviata la costruzione di una nuova chiesa, ma i lavori furono interrotti dopo la battaglia di Marengo nel 1800, quando l’area destinata all’edificazione divenne il cimitero per i caduti dell’esercito di Napoleone.
Solo nel 1842 ripresero i lavori e il nuovo santuario fu benedetto l’8 novembre 1846 dal Vescovo di Alessandria, l’effigie della Beata Vergine tornò alla sede originaria e fu costruita una rotonda, ora parte del Santuario.
Ma come fu che la Beata Vergine divenne la Madonnina dei Centauri?
Questa storia, che coincide con la storia del Moto club di Castellazzo Bormida parte nell’inverno 1933 quando il farmacista di Castellazzo, Marco Re, e un fabbricante di ghiaccio, Giovanni Moccagatta, unite dalla passione per le due ruote, presero parte al Raduno dei Centauri di Roma del 24 maggio dello stesso anno, con 7 motociclisti castellazzesi, e sfilarono per via dei Fori Imperiali alla tassativa velocità di 80 km/h, assieme ai10.000 partecipanti del Raduno.
Il 2 marzo del 1934 Marco Re proclamò la Beata Vergine di Crea come la Patrona del Moto club.
Negli anni successivi il moto club vide aumentare il numero degli iscritti, che parteciparono a molti motoraduni.
L’8 settembre 1946 a Castellazzo Bormida si tenne il primo Convegno motociclistico internazionale della Madonnina dei Centauri, che vide la presenza di molti nomi importanti del motociclismo italiano e straniero.
