Slugblaster: Teens Hoverboarding for Mental Health
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey folks, I want to talk to you about the Slugblaster Bundle for Teen Mental Health that's going to be available all summer long. All proceeds for this bundle will be going towards Mermaids, a organization that provides mental health support for gender-diverse youth in the UK. Slugblaster is a Forged-in-the-Dark game about teen hoverboarders hopping through diffferent dimensions in order to find fun, bragging rights, or to just stick it to the man. Pop an ollie over a grav-train. Grind down the sides of a moss-covered mech. Kickflip over a quantum centipede. And all the while paint, patch, re-calibrate and kitbash your gear until it's completely unique to yourself.
If that sounds like your jam, then support the bundle at the $15 level to get Slugblaster and a number of supplements written by the community. If you already own Slugblaster, you can support it for $10 and get the supplements, including Charlock, a world I wrote for the bundle that contains radish-people, sinkholes and giant rabbits. Check out the bundle at the link below!

Officially adding ‘I was a Teenage Exocolonist’ to the games that I’ve gone absolutely feral over. I’ve had it for not even a few days and I’ve poured countless hours. Sleep? I don’t know her. If you’re into Sci-Fi, story rich, LGBTQ+, and stunning art? This is a VN/Deck Builder that you’ll utterly adore. If this play-style isn’t your favorite? Still play it because you might like it. The story itself runs very deep and it’s one of those time-loop games so there’s high replay ability.
Spoiler below the cut about something I’m going crazy over.
Please tell me I’m not the only one just staring at the one CG of Dys from the ‘joined the gardeners’ ending?
The ‘joined the gardeners’ ending was so beautifully bittersweet in my opinion, and I had to force myself to get it because I physically couldn’t bring myself to let Dys set the bomb off. Whether I romance him or not - I always befriend him on every play-through (even though I feel like romancing him enhances the lore tenfold compared to the other characters. Y’know, because he’s kind of like a sweet blend between the game’s main plot. He isn’t a complete pacifist like say Cal, but he isn’t one of the human supremacists at all. My boi respects nature yet also takes what he needs - with the full intention of returning himself to the soil when he passes).
But this art? The colors? The lighting? The accepting smile paired with the slightly glazed-over eyes? Excuse my perversion - but his bicep???
I don’t know. I’ve played so many VNs and I feel like this is the most beautiful CG I have come across in a game. It matches his ‘goodbye’ perfectly - and is just breathtaking.

corru observer
guys i recently got into this game called corru.observer its so AWESOME and underrated and i love the style of the game so much + its free and web based so u dont need to download anything AND THE PLOT IS SUUPPER COOLLLL, it revolves around 2 people trying to search for info on what happened to a team of aliens that went missing, they do this by forming a connection to a cyst and inside they can look through thier memories and thoughts and like way more stuff its super awesome its like a visual novel but they also add other game features also the enviroment of the game is literally so bizzare which is what makes it unique, for example a dude with 2 giant eyes for his head (even though thats not actually how he looked like since he is actually human its just that the memory cannot remember how his face lookd like so ye) AND I NEED MORE CONTENT OF CORRU OBSERVER THIS FANDOM IS SO SMALL THERES ONLY LIKE 2 MEME COMPILITAIONS ABOUT IT ON YOUTUBE I NEED MOREERRERERERERERERE I NEED MORE PEOLPE TO SEE THIS ACTUAL AMAZING MASTERPIECE WHAT THE FLIP in so if u see this peeleeleleleaase go check it out ill link it rn :3 corru.observer ^^^

discovered this very cool indie strategy game a while ago called "Shadows of Forbidden Gods" and i am going to talk about it because it is very Eldrich. in short, you are an eldrich god in a fantasy world. and it plays like a game of Crusader Kings but instead of owning a kingdom, you control agents and use powers to destroy humanity. very simple description because the complicated plans and shit that can just happen is insane. my best moment so far has been my evil wizard Pompeii-ing 9 cities at once with volcano geomancy
Tumblr media
to give an idea of the relations between all the randomly generated people and how they can be manipulated. I managed to get a duke to hate his own kingdom because a hero from the kingdom killed my agent due to them being evil. but the agent also happened to be the dukes child. this also caused the duke to order the hero to be killed which snowballed into a giant civil war that nobody won because the god reached full power and started smiting everything because the Chosen One was too busy trying to stop wars to fight against the evil agents of eldrich horror.
other plots include assassinations, robbery, robbery with a monkey, making people hate eachother, making families hate eachother, using bureaucracy to hold up politics, smiting nonbelievers, exploiting the green in mens hearts, spreading plagues, raising zombie hordes, cursing people to turn into fishmen, turning people into vampires, aforementioned volcano magic, freezing the world with magic, scamming heroes with fake healing potions, driving people insane, organizing orc armies, and running around the world with a giant snake eating everyone.
if you're into really complicated grand strategy games where you plan big plots and then do evil laughs when they work, i highly reccomend. also worth noting that its quite similar to the failed kickstarter "that which sleeps" except that its an actual game instead of being a scam.
(its also got an active discord and modding community which have done a lot of cool stuff like new gods and shit)

I recently finished a playthrough of Digimon: Nova Red. It's Pokemon Fire Red but replaced all the Pokemon with Digimon. I was never too into Digimon, but I always had a faint, passing interest in the series. And I did buy and play a good amount of Digimon Story: Cyber Slueth and I really enjoyed what i played so far so I figured I would give this a shot.
Tumblr media
Overall I had a pretty good time. I tried not to use mostly Digimon I know about outside of my starter and one other member and I think I did a good job. I can't say I had a BALANCED team by the end of it though. By the end of my first playthrough, half of my team was weak to fighting. I had enough coverage to overcome it sure but it did make it a bit more challenging. Also j ended up with two dragon types on my team since one of my last Digimon becomes an ice dragon type. I didn't use any sort of guide or anything so I wasn't expecting that but I welcome it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the team I made though. Everyone was pretty good and despite the big fighting weakness I still grew to like a lot of the team. Especially my starter. I ended up picking Bukamon as my starter cause I always liked that evo line of the options given (and didn't wanna be "boring" and use the Agumon line XD) and it's final evolution was really good. Really tanky comparable to Blastoise only Water Electric which was a really cool typing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The other members were all equally good there wasn't anyone I'd consider Bad. The closest one I THINK would be Skull Baluchimon but even then he hjsr felt SLIGHLTY underpowered compared to everyone else. Still has a really cool typing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My only main complaint is by the 7th gym there was a MAJOR difficulty spike where every gym's team were 5-10 levels than yours. And that's not fun. If they were 10 levels lower I'd say this was a fair challenge so just be aware of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But yeah I still liked it. Glad I beat it and played through to the end. I even used a DigiDex app to look up members of my team a little more and some of the random Digimon I found along the journey. I wanna play this again. Maybe with a more balanced team next time. I recommend this even if you aren't into Digimon. Just be aware of the difficulty spike

Oh!!! I know two games I've played with a friend that have good vibes called "Beacon Pines" and "A Short Hike". The Henry Stickmin Collection is worth its price for the comedy and what story is present, and Tinykin has really endearing designs, and Secret Third Thing that comes into focus if you're aware of surroundings. Tinykin and A Short Hike have the most active input and timing for exploring 3d spaces. Have fun with your journey across games as a whole!! :D
Aaaaa thank you!! I’m absolutely adding both to my list of future games to play!! I thinK I’ll have to find an emulator for Beacon Pines but u betcha imma play it >:)
Dude dude dude THE HENRY STICKMIN COLLECTION! bRO I had a friend who I watched play that series over and over as a kid. You unlocked memories. Thank you.
Thanks for the recommendations!!!!! I appreciate them a lot :DDDD

Do you guys have that one game where you can sit down and enjoy no matter how many times you've played it through. The game that calms you down and gets you through the gloomiest of moods. The one where you can always find comfort and joy despite knowing EVERYTHING that is about to happen.
For me, its this
Tumblr media
Spirirfarer is a hand drawn cozy game developed by Thunder Lotus studio and its the best thing that I've ever encountered in my life. This game had save me from so many grief. And when my mind is swayed by the misery and pain caused by the world to a point that it gets dangerous, I would always go back to this game and feel at least a little bit better.
This game is just so good and i've been wanting to see other people play this game and give their thoughts. At the same time, i would also want to know which game that you'd choose for my initial question.

The first TWEWY game was the best
I always tell people that I recommend this series to to play the original on the DS. Of course, they hardly listen to me, but I stand my ground on this.
The gameplay of the original TWEWY was built for the DS, unlike many DS titles that simply allowed for use of the touch screen. It has left-handed friendly controls, and multiple different play styles on several levels for players to play however they wish.
The story aside (it's amazing, but I don't want to spoil it), The gameplay is what draws me in every time I replay it. It's not easy, it provides a challenge no matter how you play, but it's so satisfying.
On the bottom screen, you control Neku and attack with pins you acquire throughout the game. Each pin has a different command associated with it (press and hold, swipe, tap empty space, this is even how you dodge attacks) and is mandatory to master to complete the game.
On the top screen, you control your partner, Shiki, using the ABXY or direction buttons next to the touch screen. This is optional, as you can set your partner to automatically attack on their own, but giving yourself the extra challenge pays off with better combos and higher defensive tactics.
I could go on and on about different mechanics, and I will admit, the first TWEWY had it's flaws. You could only eat so much food a day. You can unlock unlimited eating in the post-game. This is a problem my friends playing on the phone port have faced, but on the Switch or DS you can easily change the date and grind out your stats. Don't worry, the game doesn't even notice!
NEO: TWEWY is good. I enjoyed playing through it, but the gameplay just didn't have the same spark. I felt like I was just mashing buttons the whole time. The atmosphere felt more like I was running through the scramble crossing, eating across Dogonzaka, but the battle mechanics just didn't feel quite as satisfying.
The series as a whole? I love it with my whole being, but nothing can beat the Experience of the original on the DS.
It's easy to pirate the DS version, hell, I only got to play it because I received a pirated copy. I'd recommend getting an R4 if you intend on mass piracy, but used copies go for less if your not ready to sail the high seas. I shilled out for the squeakual after I fell in love with the first.
I played them back to back today, and I can say with certainty that the second made be feel worse after remembering my love for the first.
But yeah PLAY TWEWY IT"S SO GOOOOOD.
