Hermitcraft Guide: Transcript/accessible version

Hermitcraft is a vanilla style* multiplayer server that has been running in a season format since 2012. Each season, the players move to a new world and start anew, meaning now’s the perfect time to start watching!

The server is invite only, and new people can join only when the existing Hermits unanimously agree that they would be a good fit. The Hermits have regular meetings to discuss new ideas and any concerns.

I don’t recommend watching every episode by every Hermit. There’s shows like HermitCraft Recap to keep you up to date! Don’t feel obligated to watch everything, just have fun!

* the server is mostly unmodded, but in recent seasons, the Hermits have been implementing custom items and texture packs for the sake of storytelling

Hermit: BdoubleO100

Quote: “Axe wielding maniac, that’s me!”

Description: Bdubs is a master at using unconventional blocks in his highly detailed builds.

It’s a point of pride to always be the one to sleep and skip the night before the others can.

He’s often teased about his height despite not being the shortest Hermit.

Hermit: Cubfan135

Quote: “There is redstone back there… Basically, it does stuff.”

Flags: USA

Description: Cub is really good at basically every aspect of Minecraft, and always goes big in his projects. With Scar, he created a capitalistic empire and then decided he didn’t care for industry afterward, since he had already won. Cub then became a freeloading basement dweller. He enjoys confusing other people with strange antics.

Hermit: Docm77

Quote: “We will crush them with our redstone spaghetti”

Flags: Germany

Description: A bit of an intense guy, Doc is unafraid to play the scary villain. Don’t let that fool you – he’s a big softie. His Twitter is 50% “hey who wants to see the game-breaking death machine I built” and 50% about his adorable kid, nicknamed “Doccy”

His arm was canonically destroyed by the Minecraft dev Dinnerbone back in 2013.

Description: Etho is a Minecraft O.G. and the creator of many of the redstone designs that everyone uses. He’s a very dedicated player with an unconventional style, and the other Hermits are a bit obsessed with him. He’s your favourite YouTuber’s favourite YouTuber. And there’s a reason for that.

Flags: United Kingdom

Description: Very approachable and friendly, but has a reputation for her confidence in PVP. False works on very large, thematically strong builds. She was the first Minecraft Championship participant to achieve multiple consecutive wins.

Hermit: Geminitay

Quote: “How am I supposed to Live Laugh Love in these conditions!?”

Flags: Canada, Bisexual

Description: Gem is a talented builder with an appreciation of cute aesthetics that’s matched only by her thirst for blood. She’s truly earned the descriptor “Geminislay.”

She joined in season 8, and has effectively struck fear into the hearts of the other Hermits, particularly Etho, despite her wholesome personality.

Hermit: Grian

Quote: “Not everything I do has to start a war, okay? Sometimes I just want to start a society of sewer mole people.”

Flags: United Kingdom

Description: Grian always builds big and pranks bigger. He delights in nothing less than being a public nuisance. This starts (good-natured) wars within the server repeatedly.

He’s very social, but is basically glued to Mumbo and Scar. Infamously never bothers with the backs of his builds.

Hermit: Impulse SV

Quote: "I hate being bad at stuff!"

Flags: USA

Description: Impulse gets a reputation for being super nice all the time but he will hold a grudge forever.

He once moved his entire base up by one block because he thought it would make it look better (it did)

Description: Hypno's one of the more reserved Hermits, sticking to himself (+ bothering xB and Jevin). He's extremely laid-back and has a little bit of a deadpan silly sense of humor. He’s a very observant guy who builds geometric and rustic creations. His post-annotated runs of the minigame Decked Out 2 are great if you want to see someone actively break down how they play!

Description: A hardworking builder and redstone engineer. Loves making minigames, most of which revolve around gambling. Iskall is a dedicated hater of diorite blocks. Creator of the Vault Hunters modpack and server(s), which he has spent most his time playing recently.

Hermit: JoeHills

Quote: “Sufficiently advanced bothering-each-other is indistinguishable from teamwork”

Description: Joe is a strange person, and his brand of absurdity cannot easily be put into words. He typically ends his videos with a poem or strange moral. Joe makes funny low energy videos, perfect for those who want to watch something laid-back.

Hermit: iJevin

Quote: “It’s actually pretty straightforward and almost easy. Sometimes.”

Flags: USA

Description: Unashamed. Just in general. A real hard worker who’s willing to destroy a massive project and start over. This commitment carries over into prank wars, which escalate to truly ludicrous heights.

Hermit: Keralis

Quote: “Let’s take the Black Death. I like the sound of that.”

Flags: Sweden, Poland

Description: Keralis favours modern, industrial-styled builds that carry the impression of wealth and prestige. His creations always have a strong sense of life to them. Keralis has a habit of referring to the others with silly nicknames such as “Shashwammy” and “Bubbles”,

Hermit: PearlescentMoon

Quote: “Yeah, I’m a little suspicious of myself to be honest.”

Flags: Australia

Description: Pearl is perhaps one of the best builders in all of MCYT. Her works are awe-inspiring in scale, but really shine in their details. A long-time friend of Grian, she joined HC in season 8 and fits right in, with a unique energy that’s full of fun. She is always up for a light bit of pranking or teasing, with unstoppable chaotic energy when she’s up at 5am for events.

Description: Mumbo is best known for his eccentric redstone creations. He’s sometimes too ambitious for his own good – his ideas blow up in his face at the worst possible moments. He’s got a lovable awkward energy and strange, extremely British mannerisms.

Hermit: GoodTimesWithScar

Quote: “A laugh is worth far more than a diamond.”

Flags: USA

Description: Scar’s building skills and storytelling will make believe in magic and want to see what he’ll do next. Scar can pull pranks and act the villain as good as anyone else on Hermitcraft, but no matter what role Scar is playing, you will have a good time. He’s banned from Canada, so he banned the nation of Canada from his theme park.

Scar IRL has a chronic disease that he’s very open about, and uses a wheelchair. Check out his day in the life videos!

Description: Ren is the hermit most likely to jump in to some over-the-top storytelling, mixing it with his regular content for some impressive arcs. He’s played a lot of roles, from mind-controlled business tycoon to time travelling hippie.

Description: Stress is known for describing everything she loves as “gorgeous!” It’s definitely her catchphrase.

Description: Beef is the most enthusiastic user of the mechanic that allows players to make massive builds into tiny map-based pixel art. He uses this for a lot of different purposes, from wallpaper to custom card games. It takes a lot of dedication, which he has in spades. He's oblivious in the best way possible. He’s walking in circles, he’s misplacing items, he’s having fun.

Description: xB posts often, about two or three times a week. His videos always go over his thought process a lot more than anyone else. His builds have a strong focus on environmental storytelling.

Description: Xisuma tends to pick a theme for his big projects and always wears a matching costume. He describes himself as a big derp, and no one agrees on how to pronounce his name.

He doesn’t reset his episode number each season, so he’ll be starting season 10 with episode #1128! Xisuma is the server’s admin, which is a big responsibility without the powertrip due to the Hermits’ commitment to group decision making.

Hermit: ZombieCleo

Quote: "I'll break you legs"

Flags: United Kingdom, Bisexual. Cleo uses She/They pronouns, but I do not know if they identify as nonbinary.

Description: Cleo enjoys detail work, being the number-one user of the posable armour stand tweak, which she uses to make dioramas and statues. They have a rather dry, mature sense of humour. Formerly a schoolteacher. Cleo is close friends with Joe, and the two regularly stream activities such as crafting together

Hermit: Zedaph Plays

Quote: “Is this a bad idea? Yes. Am I gonna do it anyway? Yes.”

Flags: United Kingdom

Description: Focuses more on making his own fun than on traditional builds. Zedaph is the human embodiment of an explosion happening in another room and hearing someone yell out "it's fine!". A very polite and confusing mad scientist. He does the wildest things just because he can. His editing style is fun and creative, featuring stop-motion montages.

This post is pertaining to the hide and seek challenge Scott (Smajor/dangthatsalongname), Shelby (Shubble), Gem (GeminiTay), Lizzie (LDShadowLady), and Jimmy (SolidarityGaming) did very recently.

I am going to take a deep breath, put a few eeeees out in the universe (not to anyone in particular; just for me to not continue spam texting my friend who doesn’t care) in a very calm and collected manner, take another deep breath, and try to maybe go to bed.

Scott, sir, you are insane both at seeking and hiding. You scare me sometimes but it’s okay because it’s in the best way and I admire you for it. You’re so cool <3

Shelby, you’re a psychopath but also in the best way! How did you possibly make something so cute and tiny and still have so many hiding spots! I was giggling the whole time and I loved seeing the Shrub skin again! :D

Gem, the gradients on those roofs and all those details of the interior? Ughhh! Wonderful! Also love the little comments. So fun ^^

Also Shelby and Gem making in the closet jokes in Scott’s video is just the epitome of queer friendships and I am so normal about it mhm yep

Lizzie, you’re unhinged (/pos) but the style of hide and seek you did was so much fun and the hiding spot was 10/10! Sardines (that version of hide and seek I learned) can be so chaotic and so much fun so I got so excited when they started finding you and going quiet. I very much enjoyed :3

I got my Hermitcraft TCG cards today!

I ordered the game box and the booster box, and when I opened my second hermit pack I got a very funny, very Grumbo/waffle duo surprise, the first two cards were a mumbo and a grian! I ended up with 2 grians in total actually, a rare and a common.

The first hermit pack I opened had the common grian, as well as common Bdubs, Ijevin, Impulse, Iskall, and a rare Zedaph. The second one,the one with the grian and mumbo, had (of course) the rare grian and common mumbo, as well as common Keralis, common False, common Etho, and common Doc.

I haven't actually opened the other booster packs yet, since I was so excited about the Mumbo and Grian put together (as they should be) that I wanted to post about it.

My game box was also pretty cool, I love the TCG coin, it's heavy in your hand and just is pleasent to hold, I liked it so much I even showed it to my mom and am considering using it as a grounding object for my anxiety/ptsd.

My special collectors edition card was a Hypno, and funnily enough I also got the same Hypno in my starter deck.

the rest of my starter deck consisted of a holographic Rendog(!), a common (and very cute, with a guest appearance by her IRL dog) Geminitay, a common cleo, Stress, TFC, Iskall, and the man himself, Vintagebeef. The other cards in the deck are great too, just not as important to me as the hermit cards.

I seriously cannot understate how much I like this coin

I don't normally buy merch, or post about it, but I'm so excited about these cards. I don't think I'll get to play a game anytime soon, since I don't personally know any other hermit craft fans IRL, but just having the cards is cool. There was also cool creo sticker in the box which I'm thinking about sticking on my tablet case.

OKAY SO

At the very start of the season, Docm77 built a world-eater to blast a 500 x 500 block hole right down to bedrock to use as space for his farms and base, called the Perimeter. The Perimeter is right next to where Grian, MumboJumbo, and GoodTimesWithScar settled their own bases. This is all setup for one of the wildest prank wars in Hermitcraft history.

It all started because Grian didn’t want to finish the back of his base. He didn’t want to finish it so bad that GeminiTay, ImpulseSV, and Scar held an intervention to get him to finish it, that he PROMPTLY managed to distract Scar from and they both raced off next door to see Doc’s latest game-defying contraption - a redstone tunnel bore in the wall of the Perimeter. That they managed to blow up. They did their best to rebuild it, but these two are builders and not redstoners and therefore had No Idea how to do that, so they just left a little apology present and got the fuck out of dodge.

Unfortunately for them Doc doesn’t do apology presents too well! So he fired back by setting a trap for Grian that blew up Mumbo’s front door (I still don’t know whether or not that was intentional or a slight misfire), and managed to hang DOZENS of wither skulls (you know, the ones the wither shoots out of its heads?? the exploding ones?? yeah those) in midair over the main square of Scar’s theme park.

So now that there’s three wronged parties (two perpetrators and an innocent bystander), they got together to form The Buttercups to band together and fight the goat. Grian egged the Perimeter with hundreds of chickens, they built a cute little hippie camp on the edge of the Perimeter, Doc made flying butterflies to blow up Grian and Mumbo’s bases, both parties made giant robots to fight each other, Doc enlisted Rendog to help spy on the Buttercups by building a secret room under their camp and stuffing sniffers in there, the Buttercups graffitied the Perimeter with a goddamn Live Laugh Love sign, Doc tore it down and replaced it with a trapped Grind Optimize Automate Thrive (G. O. A. T., if you notice) sign that ended up blowing up their camp and all the sniffers underneath, at some point Doc also covered the Buttercup’s bases with hundreds of duped dragon eggs but I can’t remember when that happened in the timeline, and then like half of the involved parties went on vacation.

Grian came back first and he had the brilliant (“bRiLlIaNt”) idea to just. Cover the entire Perimeter. All 250,000 blocks of it. But not in one flat plane of dirt, no no NO. This man is a BUILDER. And Scar is a builder too. These motherfuckers TERRAFORMED it. Planted trees and everything. But since it was a race against the clock to beat Doc getting back on the server, they hijacked the weekly Hermitcraft meeting to be all “hey anyone wanna help us cover the Perimeter?” AND THEY GOT LIKE SEVEN PEOPLE TO HELP. I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT LITERALLY NOBODY EXCEPT MUMBO, GRIAN, SCAR, REN, AND DOC WERE EVER INVOLVED IN THIS WAR AND YET THE SPIRIT OF HERMITCRAFT IS JUST THAT NOBODY CAN RESIST A POINTLESS ENDEAVOR TO FUCK WITH THEIR FRIENDS. I SAY POINTLESS BECAUSE DOC CLEANED IT UP QUICKLY AND EASILY.

Anyway. They threw the Perimeter under a rug and all their videos dropped one after the other like right before Doc came back, and the man lost his shit swearing bloody bloody vengeance on everyone involved on Twitter. Hermitcraft is a family-friendly server, right, and in his latest video he opened it saying it was REALLY hard to not swear like a sailor. This whole thing is wild and you really gotta watch at least the Hermitcraft Recap to get it all, cuz I know I forgot some things

Hello hello, am intrigued by your time travel MCC daydream thing and would love to read more rambles about it.

Who all are the adults in charge there? I think you mentioned Scott and Joel and Lizzie? Anyone else in mind?

And does time traveled Grian get to experience a respawn himself during this? Totally agree he'd be a top tier survivalist buuuuut...

Kay I typed out a really long nonsensical ramble so this time I'm just going to go down the list of S3 players and anyone I don't specifically mention in these two lists is someone I've either never heard of before or can't decide

Adults: Aimsey, BadBoyHalo, CaptainPuffy, cubfan135, Eret, GoodTimesWithScar, Impulse, LDShadowLady, Mythical Sausage, Philza, Ranboo, Smajor1995, Smallishbeans

Children: 5up, CaptainSparkles, ConnerEatsPants, Falsesymmetry, Geminitay, Grian [duh], Fwhip, InTheLittleWood [that's Martyn right?], PearlescentMoon, Shubble, SolidarityGaming, TommyInnit

I specifically think that while Ranboo would be good daydream fuel, I am unfortunately bound by the logic of "nahh he really wouldn't opt in would he" and that Grian on the flip side did it because all of his friends kept gushing about how cute he would be and Grian was 80% sure he would win dispite coming from a permadeath world.

And yes, grian dies while practicing parkour, and and gets disqualified from participating like 2 weeks before the event, which is pretty damn long because I've set the beginning of the daydream as 4 months. At that point he had gotten accustomed to other people dying, but slipping up and falling for the first time into the void, being so sure he was going to die and then suddenly waking up in a bed but still feeling vertigo from falling was entirely different, and Etho [who at this point in time had been set as a teammate for Grian] had to calm him down, and later told Scott that Grian couldn't play in the event.

The rest of Grians time is spent relaxing since he didn't have to worry about dying [he does die at least 3 more times, but most people are being careful around him and hes both grateful for it and despises it], and doing way too much exposition because YHS Grian has an idea that his childhood is definitely not a normal or relatively good one, but hasn't had enough experiences outside of Tokyo since enrolling in Acedemi high to really draw the line on what's like actually kind of horrifying. Specifically he's hesitant to share that he killed people because Grian doesn't want to get outcasted or be seen as a murderer [who would], but everyone around him can't even imagine having to live with the guilt that you permakilled another player, since murder is a relatively light topic and punished with a slap on the wrist for most worlds

Oh I'd also like to add a few logistics and world building things, the biggest one is that anyone who opted into this event [MCC Time Warp maybe? I'm bad at names] was able to choose at what time their past versions would be, and most chose around 14 - 18, though a few chose to be 19 or even 20, and obviously people like Tommy went way under the average because he thought it would be fun and more chaotic, but Scott refused to let anyone chose under 10 years old. When the event is over, not much memory carried over, being incredibly foggy and getting embarrassed by their friends telling them what happened while they were regressed. I'm thinking the actual way they get them travelificated is either some redstone magic and basic time travel box y'know, something that will read a players code to see what year they can grab from based on how old the player is, or something like a more stable recreation of the rift since this daydream is very Grian centric, and the rift will just intrinsically know when to pull a player from when they step through.

Teams for this event are decided about a month before the event, Scott figuring that after 3 months they would have surely figured out exactly who wasn't mentally or physically able to compete [he was wrong] and by the actual event, 8 players have been disqualified. 30 players were time traveled because they expected people to need backup players, and each team is composed of 2 adults and 2 children/teens, with the teams mainly being balanced for safety rather than skill level and the younger kids getting placed with the most responsible adults or a much older teen teammate.

Tiny problem - P2

Summary: The hermits has an emergency meeting while Scar and Grian trying to calm the crying Scar-ling. (Wow would you look at that, it’s only p2 and we are having a filler chapter. Daily dose of mini hermits, Self-indulgent af, be careful.)

P1 (Recommend reading part one first.)

“So what you are saying is that if we die, we have a child.” Doc says with one eyebrow raised, “How does that work? And why?”

“You skipped a lot of details, but yeah. Couldn’t sum it up better myself.” Xisuma tap on something in front of him and gestures the spawn area around them, “As you guys can see, the server is very laggy lately. I think the amount of information it processed broke something, but I can’t pinpoint what exactly went wrong.” Xisuma stops at that. Everyone is quietly waiting for him to go on, except for Mumbo, shuffling his feet on the ground and holding the egg like it’s a bomb. “I may need some time, so before I figure out what’s wrong, I need you guys to stay safe and don’t die.”

“Do we wrap Scar in bubble wraps?” Bdubs asks.

“But for how long? That’s a bit inhumane.” Ren says hesitantly.

“No, Ren,” False state, “I don’t think Bdubs actually meant it.”

“Ooo I mean it! With my whole heart!”

“Peeps, live as normal as possible is the goal, and wrapping Scar up isn’t really a realistic thing to do.” Xisuma reasons. He is still searching franticly in his communicator.

“I don’t understand, where does the child come from?”

“Zedaph, you see, when two people are in love-”

“NO REN, I swear to- you are doing this on purpose!” False yells.

Xisuma is very used to this, so he just continues: “When we die, normally there’s a head drop, right? But I...” Xisuma saw something in his communicator and frowns, “The egg Mumbo is holding right now was with his inventory drops when he went to get them. And the same thing happened to Scar, and that one has hatched already. Now you have one too, Zedaph.”

Zedaph observe the egg in his hands, “Instead of head drop, now we get eggs? And they hatch?” Xisuma nods. “Fascinating. So cool...”

“This the opposite of cool,” Cleo mumbles, “No one here knows a thing about taking care of a child, how is this cool? It’s a disaster, I tell you.”

A shriek comes out from Mumbo. Everyone turns to look at him. The egg in his hand glows so bright it’s hard to see what happens. A loud sound of something cracking-

“Oh my word.” Mumbo utters.

“Oh my word.” The little boy in Mumbo’s hand mimics, staring Mumbo with wide eyes. He’s in a suit (of course he is in a suit), and it looks ridiculous.

“That’s so weird...” Keralis is in awe, walking towards Mumbo to get a good look.

“I think we should plan for a supporting system.” Gem suggest. “A nursery, maybe?”

“Yeah, even if we are careful, there will still be accidents. Prepare ahead is a good idea, I am on board!” Ren pipes up.

“Then we take turns talking care of the nursery?” Pearl asks.

“Yeah! That’s a good idea!” Gem bumps Pearls shoulder and turn towards Xisuma. “X, should we vote?”

And everyone agrees. Gem is the one responsible for the construction of the build, since this is her idea.

“Brilliant. I will try my best to fix it as quick as possible.” Xisuma close his communicator. “For now, please stay safe, guys.” And the meeting ends.

GoodTimeWithScar had never been this afraid in his life. Welp, he’s- nervous, probably, so it’s not afraid. But the bubbly feeling in his chest does feel like afraid to him. He need his baby Yoda, which- he left the baby Yoda at season 7. His Baby Yoda was so small and cute and such an adorable gremlin-

The little Scar-ling- that’s what Scar decide to call him- haven’t stop crying and whatever Scar does the tears just keeps rolling. Scar just realizes, maybe not- not baby Yoda, perhaps. Because baby Yoda is also a child. He really can’t deal with another child-egg-thing (that could actually hatch-) right now.

“Are you doing okay, Scar? X told me I should help you.” Grian walks though the door and greets Scar.

“Grian! Oh my gosh, yes, the kid haven't stop crying! What do I do?”

Grian looks like he doesn’t know, either. “I think you, er...” He reaches his hands out to adjust Scar’s posture. “Does this feel right? I think you were holding him wrong, you should make sure your one hand is under him-” The Scar-ling suddenly cries harder. Grian looks like he is totally freaking out now. “I- I don't know! Scar, what do we do?!”

“Uh, hush little baby, don’t-” Scar tries to sing a lullaby. Doesn’t work. The Scar-ling now looks like he’s hyperventilating. “Ahh!” Scar panics and shoves the child into Grian’s arms.

“Scar! What-”

“He- I panicked!”

Grian gives him a frantic look, and start to rock the child, “Rain, rain, go away, come again another day,” Grian sings gently and let the Scar-ling’s head rest on his shoulder. “Little Jonny wants to play...” He pat the child’s back with carefulness, and keep singing in a silent voice.

Scar is...strangely mesmerized, watching intently as the child gradually calms down, and he smiles. He tries to catch Grian’s eyes. Grian raise his gaze and gives Scar a questioning look, but his singing continues.

After a while, “Scar, is he asleep?”

Scar checks Scar-ling’s face. “Yeah.”

“Good, my arms are sore.” He passes back the child to Scar very carefully.

Xisuma peeks in, “Hi, Grian, Scar, the meeting’s over. Is everything alright? Sorry I had to exclude you guys, but I was worried little Scar would be overwhelmed by the people there. ”

“It’s fine. The little guy is asleep.” Grian straighten his back and massage his upper arm, “How did the meeting go?”

“We decided to build a nursery, Gem is in charge of it.”

“Oh, okay.”

“And Mumbo’s egg hatched, by the way.”

“It hatched?”

“Yeah, I think I am a father, now, Grian.” Mumbo walks in with the little Mumbo sitting on his shoulder. “This is so surreal. Ah- My hair!”

“Hey, how come your youngling are so quiet? Mine was crying the whole time until-”

“Scar, lower your voice, you are going to wake him up!”

“Well look at you two, fight like a married couple.” Mumbo quips. Grian is having none of it, “Mumbo Jumbo, you better watch out for your copper. Or the door of your vault, ‘cuz something will happen to them, I promise.” Mumbo looks alert, trying to come up with a response.

“I am really sorry, I will fix this as quick as possible.” Xisuma says dejectedly.

Scar was going to comfort Xisuma when the little Mumbo on Mumbo’s shoulder jump down onto Xisuma’s helmet, slides down and block Xisuma’s face. “Ah-!” Mumbo yelps, trying to grab the child. Xisuma gets very still.

“Don’t be sad.” It sounds small and high-pitched. The little Mumbo hugs Xisuma’s helmet.

“Aww, he is comforting you!” Scar melts.

“...Thank you, little one.” Xisuma gently grabs the child and put him on the ground. He gives the little Mumbo a pat on the head. “You guys take care okay? I should start fixing this right away, I will see you guys later.” Xisuma walks out of the door at that before Scar can say a word.

There’s a silence after Xisuma walks out. Then Scar remembers: “Wait- What? Mumbo, your youngling can talk?!”

“Youngling? Oh, um, yeah, yours can’t?”

The Scar-ling wakes up to the shouting. He look at Scar for one second and starts to cry, reaching for Grian.

“Scar! What did I tell you?!” Grian chastises Scar and takes the child with a almost practiced manner. rocking the child with quiet murmur. The Scarling’s cry turns into sniffling in mere seconds.

“How- Grian, how are you so good at this?! You have only hold him once!”

“Shh, Scar, you are scaring him!” Mumbo whispers. Oh he is doing this to irritate him.

Scar thinks to himself, this is nonsense, I am so offended. But the smile still creep up on his face anyway.

what is this

While writing this, I did some research, and I got inspired so much by @theminecraftbee. Poor Jevin, I can’t help but laugh and feel bad for him at the same time. (Also if you see this, thank you so much! High chance that I saw Jevin’s egg disaster and got inspired and started the story without realizing it was you! Wait- is this allowed? Tell me if not!)

Anyway, I grind out part two! To be honest, not really satisfied with this, but I can’t think of anything better for this scene at the moment. I may revisit this and make some changes in the future, but for now, this works.

Did I mention that in the previous part, hermits couldn’t stop calling Scarling ‘it’? I personally find it very funny, because they are just so unfamiliar with children they call a child ‘it’ thought it’s weird since it was written by me who finds their own joke funny it’s cringe. I also hesitated over whether or not to post this for a while. Welp. Imma just roll with it like a irresponsible failure that I am and how is my note longer than my fic

But seriously, thank you guys so much for the likes and reblog! I read every tags and comments in the previous part, and I am overwhelmed with the responds it got. 200 notes! That’s so surreal to me. Thank you!!! Feel free to point out spelling mistakes and weird phrases and whatever, I really need it ;-;

This came up on a server that I was in, so if you could select one DSMP member to be in the new X Life season, who would you pick? Our nominations ranged from plausible (Philza, Hbomb) to fun but unlikely (Foolish, Hannah) to absurd (Schlatt, Wilbur). Our universal nomination for a *hermit* to add was GeminiTay.

okay so i'm cheating bc we know what the premise is, but dear god would i have immediately gone to wilbur. he knows grian. he's got form for arriving in servers and immediately being Insane about it. i think him and ren would have a lot of fun being Roleplay Drama Kids together and it'd be cute. i desperately want more wilbur and hermits content. apollo please interact.

for silly options, technoblade. yes he's shaky at roleplay. yes he'd slaughter them all immediately. but i think it would be extremelyt fucking funny to watch him deadpan jokes as he murders his way through the server in .5 seconds flat once he goes red. also, god, i would love schlatt but i just truly cannot see him being on a server with grian without grian being compelled to murder him irl for being family unfriendly. (can you. can you imagine him with cleo though. holy shit. they'd be so good.)

for a wildcard, i do wonder if eryn would be a good fit?? do not ask me why, i just get the right kinda vibes from him. i think him and martyn have similar energies, from the few bits of his content i've seen, i think they could be a fun pair.

for hermits... hmm. i don't actually think gem would be terribly fun in a life server, unless she went unhinged with it - she's very consistently cutesy and light-hearted in her hc content, idk if she'd match the energy well (though i'd love to be surprised). my genuine vote for this one is cub, because i think he'd have a fun mix of the competence necessary to do well on a life server combined with the capacity for being funny/dramatic required.

my silly vote is for doc or joe. i think they probably wouldn't be good fits based on their hc content (highly technical/Just Generally Weird, respectively; you need more generalist people for life server imho), but i think their particular brands of weird would be phenomenally fun. doc and his propensity for Unhinged Villainry would be exceptionally good. i have literally no idea what joe would do, but by god do i want to find out.

(my very silly / serious but unlikely vote is for taurtis. i miss him :( he was the only one who was ever capable of bullying grian. and i think grian deserves to be bullied more, especially on traffic smps. come back, taurtis, and Indulge Me...)

How “starter” are hermits’ starter bases?

Scores calculated on build size, design and material. The more extravagant the base, the lower the score.

I haven’t watched all hermits, will update once I catch up more :)

Tango Tek: 0/10

Not only does he use rare blocks, his base design is one of the most complicated and elaborate bases I’ve seen so far, and also one of the biggest. This is not a starter base.

FalseSymmetry: 0+/10

She builds a tree. And an eagle. And a mountain for said tree and eagle. This is not a starter base I’m sorry it’s not. However, bonus point for continuing the build from last season lore.

PearlescentMoon: 1/10

It’s smaller than both Impulse’s and Tango’s build, so props for that. She uses nether blocks and aged coppers, so no point on the material front. The design is pretty complex tho, ngl. And the worst offense is that she has an interior. An INTERIOR. It’s... *almost* a starter base on the outside, but on the inside it’s better than all of us and it knows.

ImpulseSV: 2/10

While not as elaborate and complicated in overall shape, it is a sizeable build and quite detailed. Seems to involve some terraforming, which lowers the score. And he uses amethyst which is 100% not starter base material.

XisumaVoid: 2.5/10

Complicated, big, rare blocks. The only reason he has any point at all is because it doesn’t have a back and honestly that’s valid. It’s a glorified photo prop right now and that’s valid.

GeminiTay: 5/10

Also a treehouse like Tango, but everything is just so much more reasonable. It’s not even *technically* a custom tree, and her materials are just woods. Her base did require a whole skeleton farm to grow, so not *that* starter isn’t it? :pensive: Also lost points for some of the materials and the garden decor, but other it can pass as a valid starter base.

Zedaph: 9/10

It’s a rock. Relatively simply in design, small size, non-complicated material. Lost one point because tuff and moss required caving a little further, but otherwise super solid and valid starter base.

Iskall: 9/10

Love the dirt hut aesthetics, very true to what a starter base should be. Loss point for the moss, azalea, and glass usage but otherwise totally valid.

Rendog: 10/10

Cute little wooden house. Very valid size for a starter house. Nothing to complain about <3 Him calling it a doghouse is both a clever puns on his name and implies there will be a bigger house in the future. Appreciate the play on words.

StressMonster: 10/10

Perfection. Nothing to talk about. She uses wood and builds a cute little teapot. It’s cute, it’s pretty, it’s not outrageous. I might be sightly obsessed with it. Love it 10/10.

Vintage Beef: 10.5/10

It’s a cave. Has a bed and only the basic stuffs. Your typical starter base. Iconic.

ZombieCleo: 12/10

Sleeping under the stars, as nature intended. She and Joe are busy doing community-benefitting building and I love them for that.

Joe Hills: 13/10

Same reasoning as Cleo but extra point for his poem. It brings tears to my eyes <3

Hej! I'm Astra, or Freyja, whichever is easier, but online I go by Starzie. I'm just a silly girl from Denmark who loves all things sweet, soft, cute, and coquette. I'm very aroace, I'm also autistic and a DID system host! :D

Empires SMP and who you should watch based on who you watch on Hermitcraft!

(an incomplete list)

Smallishbeans: If you watch Grian or ZombieCleo, you might enjoy Joel. In a word, Joel is... feral. Joel is a feral builder and he collects his own head to put it on things and... play around with the armor stand mod! He's getting very in to the armor stand mod. An additional note: he has uh... a thing with killing chickens and especially horses. He likes hearing their death sound.

LDShadowlady: If you like GeminiTay or GoodTimesWithScar, maybe watch Lizzie! She's very... you know how Gem and Scar both kind of have this way of politely threatening you but in like opposite directions? Lizzie is the middle ground. She's also very powerful.

Smajor: Scott, everyone loves Scott! If you watch Welsknight or StressMonster, Scott might be up your alley! He has the same "I'm acting like I know what I'm doing even if I don't" vibe I get watching Wels and his love of cute things (and how he says cute) reminds me a lot of Stress!

SolidarityGaming: If you watch TangoTek or Mumbo Jumbo, maybe give Jimmy a try! He's not a technical player by any means, but he talks a lot of nonsense and he's very fun to keep up with. His "I'm not a builder" mantra is very reminiscent of Mumbo.

Shubble: If you watch BdoubleO100 or FalseSymmetry, you might have fun with Shelby! She's going very character driven for Empires, in fairness, but she does a lot of very pretty natural building and is, much like False, pretty good at pvp!

JoeyGraceffa: Okay, so for reasons I can't entirely explain, if you like watching RenDog or Keralis, you might enjoy Joey? Joey is chaotic in a "I don't understand anything that's going on ever but don't worry about it!" kinda way. He also... you know the jokes Ren and Keralis tend to make? Yeah that.

Pixlriffs: If you watch any of the hermits you should watch Pix. Jokes aside, you might enjoy him if you watch EthosLab or XisumaVoid. Pix might be the most technically inclined person on the server, but he's very entertaining to watch! Also... wandering trader.

KathrineElizabeth: If you like JoeHills or StressMonster, Kathrine might be a good pick! I'll be honest, we're starting to get into the folks I watch less of, but Kathrine has a love for all things cute and all things flowers, she's also just a bit more powerful than people give her credit for.

MythicalSausage: If you enjoy Iskall85 or GoodTimesWithScar, Sausage might be up your alley! This might be more a gut feeling, but Sausage is very much a smooth-talker when it comes to conflict. Before immediately resorting to killing people. Shh, shhh, no one needs to know. It's for peace!

fWhip: If you like iJevin or RenDog, you might enjoy fWhip! Much like Pix, he's among the more technically inclined members of the server, but he does it with style. He has quite the love for redstone ore blocks!

GeminiTay: Obviously, if you watch Gem on Hermitcraft, you should also pay her Empires stuff a watch! I'm also throwing Mumbo Jumbo into the ring because she's recently adopted a very familiar "peace, love, and plants!" moto.

PearlescentMoon: Once again, if you watch Pearl on Hermitcraft, check her out on Empires! But also pay her a visit if you watch Grian, maybe! She's always fun.
