Het college van B&W heeft deze week besloten om het bedrag wat bijstandsgerechtigde Haarlemmers aan giften mogen ontvangen te verhogen van € 1.200 naar € 1.800 per jaar. Met die verhoging biedt het college inwoners meer ruimte om Haarlemmers die leven van een bijstandsuitkering met giften te ondersteunen. Wethouder Diana van Loenen (Werk en Inkomen) “We zien dat veel mensen door de almaar stijgende kosten van energie en boodschappen moeite hebben om rond te komen. Met het verhogen van het bedrag naar € 1.800 geven we meer ruimte aan familieleden en vrienden om deze Haarlemmers te helpen. Zo bieden we ze wat meer lucht in deze lastige tijden.” Maatwerk boven € 1.800 Uitkeringsgerechtigden hoeven giften onder de € 1.800 per jaar niet langer te melden aan de gemeente. Bij hogere giften kan maatwerk worden toegepast. Uitkeringsgerechtigden moeten giften boven de € 1.800 melden bij hun klantmanager. Er wordt dan op basis van individuele omstandigheden gekeken of een hogere gift passend is. Hierbij wordt rekening gehouden met zaken als medische beperkingen, de financiële situatie en de aanwezigheid van kinderen. Per onmiddellijk De verhoging van de grens aan giften tot € 1.800 geldt per kalenderjaar en gaat voor 2023 dus per onmiddellijk in. Het is daardoor mogelijk dat in de eerste maanden van 2023 al inwoners zijn gekort op hun uitkering op basis van het oude beleid omdat ze giften boven de € 1.200 hebben ontvangen. Mocht dit inderdaad zijn voorgekomen, dan zullen deze besluiten opnieuw worden bekeken.
