Addressing some much needed things
I'm going to address some things that people have sent to other blogs about me that I know need to be addressed. I'm writing this to make things clear.
The comment about 4/20 also being hitler's birthday
That was fully insensitive and I acknowledge that. I know my apology seemed ass backwards and trying to excuse it. I don't want to excuse it. I said something insensitive, I was told it came off as insensitive even if it wasn't meant to be that way. I fully apologize, it was wrong and I own up to the fuck up. I'm not in the jewish faith, I do have a step grandmother and friends that are of Jewish faith and talked with them about it and let them dress me down for the comment and then I actively looked for resources to better myself about it. I don't want to hide and I can understand that makes me as bad as some of the people I've posted about.
Are you Eevee on discord?
Yes. I wasn't really hiding it and I knew that somebody would figure it out and out me. I know people have had issues with me for one or another reason. I just ask you don't harass people that do know me and have been friends with me. I've also gone by Evie, Demitri, Demi, Kole, Cobi, and Evan at different times in my life while trying to find my identity. The names Demitri, Demi, Cobi, and Evan I have not used on tumblr. I used Kole I think for a year before I got into indie tumblr and dropped it.
Rave Siren/Draven Siren & his brother Kale
I made Rave when I was identifying as a trans man and as gay. My self insert kind of character that I was/have been using for years to help with trauma. Kale was supposed to be the older brother I wish I had to protect me. I was the older sibling protecting my younger siblings in situations and during a bad time I made Rave and his brother as a coping mechanism. I'm not perfect for it, I can def see the issues I've brought with him and have retired him. This was a coping tool when I was young that I clung to. I am very sorry for causing issues with him for people. You can tell me to fuck off. He's retired now and won't be used.
Do the findrps mods know about you?
Yes. I was open with them about my blog and I've talked with them regarding it and told them about things I've gotten that I think they should know. I don't have any power to kick or ban people. I mostly just let people know when they've broken a rule regarding promos and give some opinions. That's all I do. I've told them I will do whatever they wish regarding my modship. I know people want to see me leave but I consider them my friends and I don't have a lot of those right now. I do not have access to their tumblr and would never get rid of anything sent as I don't have authority and that makes me uncomfortable. Right now I am taking a few days away.
Why don't you shut down your blog?
Even with people that hate me, some of the information I've posted has helped somebody feel heard and like they're not crazy. I did mess up over tagging rpt and breaking the tag. I don't know what the future this blog holds.
Talking over groups
I didn't know this was what I was doing, I am sorry. I shouldn't and I didn't realize that I've been doing that and nobody has said anything. I can learn from that and do better to shut up. Sometimes I think I'm being helpful and if nobody is saying otherwise I don't know better. I'm willing to learn and do better. Again, I am sorry for the harm I caused doing this.
Name Dropping
I've mentioned some people, both that I have positive experiences with and negative. I realize now that not everybody will take that well and those I have positive experience with I shouldn't have shared. With Dev I honestly did not know what was happening and Dev and I have been talking since then. Mentioning other rpts I don't know if that's taboo. It's been a long time since I did an rpt and back then other rpts mentioned other rpts. If that's changed I didn't know and those I have positive experiences with I won't be naming anymore. For the negative experiences, it started little and people sharing and me sharing my experiences.
Gender-bending/Cis-swap
I don't condone this. idk why people are thinking that. I said I thought bender-bending was switched for cis-swap because years ago there was a huge argument about it. I don't think it's good and for me it's even triggering at times. I don't like it, I think it's stupid, it doesn't make sense to me.
Posting a slur
I realize now that was a bad idea, it was heat of the moment. The ask has now been removed and I've given an apologized to the one affected. I did alert them I had posted it but I shouldn't have. this is a learning experience for me and something that I can better myself regarding.
Other Items
If you are comfortable, even on anon, tell me the things you've seen me do that is harmful. Things that I've done to make you or others uncomfortable. I want to learn and do better. I'm not using any excuse for behaviors, I genuinely want to know so I can do better and learn what has hurt people and how I can fix myself. I don't want to be the person that keeps hurting others without knowing. I want to learn what I've done is wrong and correct my behavior. This is learning for me, I am trying to learn and change myself. I am really, really sorry for the harm that I have caused. I can't express my regret and the hurt I've caused people.
This next part will be under read more but I want to address this while I'm sitting in the hospital waiting to get checked into grippy sock vacation. I am not looking for Sympathy I want to be transparent about what is going on.
Last night after being outed by rpcvent, which please don't send them hate, my inbox was flooded with death threats. Ranging from sl*tting my wrist which I have a history of SH, to being ab*rted, to much more vile things I don't feel comfortable saying. As well as being misgendered. I am not mentally well, I hide it and have been getting help for suicide idealization. Reading the anons coming in I had a moment of weakness and decided to try and do what the anons said.
I was taken to the hospital and I won't go into much detail but I am awake, waiting to be admitted to a mandated psyche ward to be watched. I let one of my friends have access to this blog to delete the anons that caused the issue. I will not have my phone, and when I return my therapist will read anything that people have sent about me to help me work though and fix myself.

A Kick in the Balls (1) - S. Mendes Imagine
Tumblr media
Throughout the years that you and Shawn have been together, and even before then, had he only seen you lose your composure a minimal amount of times. He remembers the night that you had spilled coffee all over your Chemistry notes, a class which you had struggled with all year and had a final on the following day. Shawn sat across from you and watched your face fall almost seconds after the dark roast drowned your lifeline to getting a passing grade in the class. Luckily, Shawn’s remained dry and his handwriting was legible enough for you to get a high C the next day. Another time, he barreled to your crouched figure in your bedroom, sobbing like a mother mourning over her favorite child. After crying into Shawn’s chest until your eyes were sore and throbbing, you managed to murmur out the death of your family pet. Even when your tears dried, and your lip halted its trembling, Shawn kept holding you. You were more shocked than saddened after being stood up by Kole Newman until Shawn bustled into the diner and swept you off your feet.
But the state of you he had stumbled upon, Friday night in your living room, he was not prepared for.
Your fingers were tremulous as you furiously tapped the keypad on your phone screen. You kept bouncing your leg up and down so much Shawn was afraid it might fall off by the end of the night.
“Hey, honey…you okay?” You hold a finger up to him, using your other hand to bring the phone off to your ear. The finger comes down and is used as another activity to occupy your racing thoughts. The thumbnail rests between your teeth as the rings continue throughout the phone. On the second ring, even quicker than the last call did your sister’s voicemail interrupt the call. You only sigh in agitation and hang up, tossing the phone aside. Your arms came up to shield your face as you shook your head.
“Alright…what happened?” Shawn tries questioning again, taking a seat beside you on the couch.  Your eyes shifted and you bit your lip as your eyes glossed over, a telltale sign that the dam of tears was about to combust.
“I-I’m the worst sister ever.” You begin, looking towards Shawn. “Y/S/N was supposed to go on a date tonight with this boy in her grade. I’ve met him a couple of times and he seemed like bad news but Y/S/N likes him a lot. I didn’t think they’d even get past friends but when she told me they were going out tonight…I just…I lost it.” You shrugged, now bringing your bouncing leg up to your chest, along with the other. “I tried telling her he was no good for her, that he’s just going to hurt her…but she didn’t listen and just bolted. I don’t know where she went and now I’m scared. I tried texting her and calling, leaving messages. I was about to leave and go look for her but then you came.” You turn to look at Shawn, a few tears now cascading down your cheeks. Shawn reaches up and wipes them away almost immediately, shaking his head while he does so.
“You’re not a bad sister. I’m sure you had a reason for blowing up as you did. What’s the guy’s name?” “Taylor Newman.” You answer with a sniff. Shawn’s eyebrows furrow at that name.
“Newman…like—”
“Kole Newman…yeah. It’s his little brother.” You confirm lips a straight line. “But…that’s no excuse to disapprove of him. I mean, maybe he is a good kid and I’m just holding grudges. But when I first met him, something seemed off before he even introduced himself.” Shawn nods. “I don’t know anymore but I need to go find her before my parents get home or else, they’re going to kill me.” You stand up from the couch and slide a pair of sandals on, preparing to walk out the door. But Shawn’s large hand holding your shoulder puts your steps to a halt.
“No, stop. You’re distressed. I’ll go look for her. If she walked, she couldn’t have gone that far. You stay put and if your parents come home and ask, say she’s with Aaliyah at our house doing girl stuff or whatever.”
“Shawn—”
“Y/N, I got this. Promise. And if I find this kid he’ll walk away with a mean pummeling after talking to me.”
“Give him a kick in the balls for me?” Shawn nods, laying a small kiss on your hair, before rushing out of the door.
Fifteen minutes into Shawn’s walk, he stops beside a familiar diner and cannot help but let the corners of his mouth tilt upwards. He remembers the exact path he ran from his own house to retrieve your heartbroken self from the leather booth in the corner of the diner. His brown eyes gaze longingly into the window, seeing all of the patrons eating their fries and drinking their milkshakes in a jovial manner. His eyes still, though, as they come across a familiar face, alone and with a concerned face as her pupils scanned the room around her from the chair. Shawn released a large breath and felt his eyes soften. Without further hesitation, he sprints around to the other side of the building and pushes himself through the revolving door. An older waitress waddles up to Y/S/N, with a hint of a smile as Shawn watches from a distance. Despite her kind face, the woman’s pitiful tone of voice heavily outweighed the cheerful emotion she attempted to convey.
“Sweetie, are you—”
“Please, please don’t make me give up the table! I swear he’s almost here.” The desperate tone of voice Y/S/N began pleading withdrew the attention of a few customers seated nearby. Even by the door, Shawn could see her cheeks grow dark as Y/S/N begged to not leave. Shawn also took notice of the patrons around him, now whispering about how sad it was that the young girl was stood up, but also what an embarrassment it was to have dinner alone. It made a fit of fiery anger begin brewing deep within Shawn and could be seen in the continuous clenching of his jaw, and narrowing of his eyes, now a few shades darker than a few moments ago.
“Oh, no dear! You are fine to stay for a few more hours…I was just wondering if you needed anything. You have not ordered since you’ve sat down.” The woman replies, eyeing the young girl with worry. All that sat before her was a glass of water, still full to the brim.
“No, that’s fine. I’ll wait until he gets here, it should only be a few—”
“I’m here! I’m here! So sorry I am late!” Shawn’s legs briskly carry him over to the table, the same eyes that were on Y/S/N a few moments ago now rested on his frantic figure, who took a seat in front of a silent, wide-eyed Y/S/N.
“Oh, this is your…”
“Date, yep! Sure am! Traffic was a nightmare but I knew I couldn’t leave her just sitting here. Now, I’ll take the two glasses of the finest non-alcoholic drink your establishment carries.” Shawn answers with a smile to the woman, scribbling down Shawn’s odd order on her notepad.
“Coming right up.” The lady pivots and waddles her way back behind the kitchen’s doors.
“What are you doing here? Wait—don’t even answer that. Y/N sent you here to find me, didn’t she?”
“No…” Y/S/N lifted her brows. “She told me what happened, and I decided to come to find you myself.” Shawn corrects smugly, placing a hand on his chest.
“Unbelievable.” She mutters with a roll of her eyes as she fishes her phone out of her jean’s pocket and looks at the time, trying to ignore all of her sister’s unanswered messages. It reminds Shawn to pull out his phone and inform you that your sister was alive and well. Y/S/N continues, “I told her I’d be fine. Taylor’s just running a little late.” Shawn hums upon sending the message to you, before stuffing his phone back into his pocket.
“Really? And exactly how long have you been waiting before I found you?” Shawn bites his lip and raises his brows. Y/S/N’s eyes don’t dare to meet with his as she continues to fiddle with her phone.
“Doesn’t matter.” She mutters. But Shawn’s interrogative expression does not falter and she sighs, speaking even quieter. “An hour and a half.” Shawn could almost feel his eyes stretch from how wide he had opened them. Y/S/N finally glanced up to meet his eyes and scoffed at him. “Don’t give me that look. I’m telling you, he’s going to show up. And when he does, you’re going to feel like the stupid one.”
“Alright, we’ll wait. But until then…” His hand reaches over the table and snatches the phone away from Y/S/N’s grip.
“Dude, what the hell?”
“I’m going to show you how one of these should go,” Shawn says, motioning a finger between the two of them. “Rule one: don’t have your phone out.” He stuffs it away into the other pocket of his pants.
“Oh, goody…can't wait.” Your sister sighs as two chocolate milkshakes are sat on the table.

Today’s short ramble fic brought to you by my thinking about Koren and Theron back during the class stories, shortly after they had broken up because of work pulling them in separate directions. This takes place during chap 1 of the BH class story, before Tatooine but after DK, back when they were still pulling each other out of the fire on occasion.
Hope you all enjoy! :3
-
He was in a tough spot, to say the least. Theron grunted in pain as he shoved the door open enough that he could squeeze through. His right arm was dislocated at the shoulder, his implants were fried, and his nose was broken. That likely wasn’t the full extent of his injuries, but it was the most immediate of them at the moment. He cursed his luck as his comm beeped an incoming call. Such terrible timing.
Ignoring the pinging device, the spy sprinted down the hallway. He didn’t have time to see to the dislocation properly so he yanked off his jacket as best he could and used it to brace the wounded arm to him for the time being. He’d worry about it as soon as he was safe for more than a few seconds.
The lights of the hall flickered on, the power to the station cycling and restarting and he quickened his pace. The pinging continued and finally, Theron grabbed the device, debated on just tossing it to use as a distraction, but ended up answering it instead. Without his implants working the comm was his only way to get contact off the station. The red emergency lights flickered and shifted to the blinding white as the station finished it’s reboot as he hit the button and shouted at his comm.
“Now’s not a great time!” He ground out as he banked down a hall and headed to where the shuttle bay was located.
“So you don’t want a rescue I take it?” The voice on the other side hummed.
“Kor?” Theron practically squeaked the nickname out as he nearly slammed his head on a barrel of a blaster as the door in front of him opened. Dashing to the side and dodging the shot the spy scrambled away before continuing. “Wha- Where are you?”
“About to land, hopefully. Mako is trying to get the blast doors open, so get ready to hop on as soon as we get in.”
“Do I want to know how you knew where I was?”
Koren laughed, a sound that the spy had honestly missed. “Jonas.” He answered simply. “I’ll give you the full details as soon as your safe, Shey’s already prepping the med bay since knowing you you’re gonna need some patching up.”
“Am I still that predictable?” Theron glanced up as he slid into cover, watching the blast doors open. The sounds of alarm around him let him know that he was now the lesser of the two issues the station was now facing.
The rumble of engines was what he heard before the Mantis landed in the middle of the bay, ramp descending. Taking that as his cue to make himself scarce Theron ran for the ship. A woman stood on the ramp, taking shots at the enemy and covering for him as he ran up and into the open door.
“Sorry to crash your party.” She said as she followed after him and closed the door. Hitting the comm she shouted. “Alright Kor, he’s on, let’s get outta here.”
“Already on it Shey.” He returned as the ship’s engines revved and Theron could feel lift off as the woman led him further in.
“You’re a friend of Kor right?” She smiled at him, the red jacket and lipstick she wore standing out on her almost ghostly pale skin and hair. “I’m Shey, one of the team. The other is in the pit with him right now.”
“Theron.” He introduced. “I appreciate the save.”
“Did you think I wouldn’t show?” Koren grinned, leaning on the hand railing above.
Theron chuckled, “I didn’t know you were coming honestly. Might’ve made sure to grab a few more party favors if I had.”
“Ah, I’m sure you’ll make it up to me somehow.” The merc chuckled as he headed down the stairs. As soon as he stepped up to the spy he tsked, “You’re a mess.”
“The party got a little rowdy.”
“So I see, let’s get you patched up.” He urged him forward before turning his attention to Shey a moment. “Can you help Mako with the jump to Coruscant? Use the landing codes that are logged under Kole.”
“Sure thing.” She said as she headed up to the cockpit.
“Didn’t think you had landing codes for Republic planets.” Theron huffed a laugh as he sat on the padded table that lay on the far side of the med bay, letting Koren remove his jacket and shirt to tend to his wounds.
“I don’t, but my brothers do.” Koren hurried around the room retrieving various supplies and deposited them next to his ex. “Perks of being an identical brother of not one, but two, Jedi that are apparently well regarded in the Republic.” He grabbed Theron’s arm with one hand and braced the other on his back. “This is gonna hurt.” He warned.
Bracing himself, Theron bit back a shout as his arm was pushed back into the socket. Even though he grumbled in pain he held as still as possible as Koren worked, taping his shoulder for support and then went to tend the remaining injuries, saving the implant for last.
“Still no plans to come back to the Republic?” Theron asked as the pain subsided, replaced by a warm numbness from the anesthetic that the merc rubbed on the wounded shoulder.
“Not at present.” Koren glanced at him before returning his focus to his work. “I’m technically MIA, and you know I make a poor excuse of a Jedi.”
“I’m sure whoever would end up your master wouldn’t appreciate you puking whenever you use the Force.” Theron joked, earning a quiet laugh.
The familiarity between them was something he had missed. It had been a few months since they had broken up, his work with the SIS and Koren’s with the job this ‘Braden’ had offered taking them in different directions. But that he didn’t lose a friend in the process was nice.
“I’m sure my brothers are making enough trouble in the order without me anyway.” Koren stepped away to grab some more supplies, these more geared for cybernetics.
“Have the panic attacks gotten better?”
The merc paused a moment, taking a heavy breath, and returning to continue tending to Theron’s wounds. “No. And please don’t mention them to the other two.”
“They don’t know?” The spy winced as Koren cleaned and stitched a particularly deep gash on his arm.
“I haven’t mentioned it. They know I’m Force-sensitive, but that’s it. They don’t need to know the rest.”
“They’re your team, Kor. What if-” Theron watched him worriedly.
“They don’t need to know,” Koren repeated. “I made mistakes and I don’t need anyone to clean up after me, you know that.”
“Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have someone looking out for you.”
The merc grinned, “That’s what I have you for isn’t it?” At the slight look of surprise on his friend’s face, he chuckled. “I know you’ve been tracking me. And I’m pretty sure the cover-up from the last job I took was done by you and not Kody.”
Theron laughed, “I was trying to be sneaky. Besides, I know that the Jedi that gave those troopers on Balmorra a run for their credits was you.”
“See, we both have someone looking out for us. Don’t need to involve anyone else.” Koren pulled up a chair and urged Theron to turn his head as he poked at the devices implanted around Theron’s eye. “Just going to give these a quick restart. I know the SIS wouldn’t want me messing with them.”
Theron hummed, closing his eyes and letting him work. It was a shame that he still refused to return to the Republic, but if he was being honest with himself he was also glad he didn’t. Koren seemed happier like this. He was a combat medic and preferred to stay neutral so traveling the stars as part of a team of bounty hunters suited him more than the spy would admit.
Maybe one day they’d be on the same team again, be able to grab a drink, and talk about their adventures without worrying that either could be at risk. Maybe they’d both meet someone new, have someone else to look out for them when they got in over their heads. But until then they had each other, and Theron would do everything in his power to keep his friend safe just as he knew Koren would do the same for him.

Jennifer glanced up from her reading to pick up her phone. Alfred’s name popping up.
I’m almost there
Glancing at the library clock Jennifer realized it was close to closing. Better get checked out and meet Alfred outside. Gathering up everything the brunette quickly darted toward the front coliding with a tall man in a dark suit. Letting out a soft squeek Jennifer dropped her books everywhere.
“Oh excuse me,” Jennifer said bending down picking up her books. The man watched her, Jennifer could feel his eyes studying as she gathered her things.
“You look familiar”
“Oh,” Jen said getting up confused,
“Are you a performer?”
“No, but my mother was a dancer about 14 years ago, Deborah Wayne?”
“You look just like her… but... “ He paused leaning forward slightly studying her face. Jennifer bent backward trying to get a little distance from the man. Personal space buddy, “You must have your father’s eyes.”
Blinking slightly Jennifer frowned. She had been heard several times how much she looked like her mother. But, her father’s eyes were hazel while Jennifer’s were a blue-green color. Maybe he meant the shape?
“Well thank you,” Jennifer stammered taking a slight step back giving herself a bit of room between her and this man in his crisp black suit. In her pocket buzzed with a text coming through. Glancing down she saw a text from Alfred letting her know he was outside ready to pick her up. “My ride is here… but it was nice to meet you Mr--” She paused waiting for him to give his name full intent to run a background check on this man with no sense of personal boundaries. Perks of having Batman as an uncle.
“Nice to meet you too little Miss Deborah Wayne.” The man in the black suit said holding out his hand.
Deciding to also not give any information either Jennifer shook his hand before talking out.
“You know most people sit in the back,” Alfred said as Jennifer slid into the front seat next to her uncle’s butler.
“Yeah but then I can’t talk to you,” she said placing her books by her feet before buckling in.
“Was it a success?”
“Very much so, got all the books I’ll need for my phycology paper and a few on cybersecurity  also…” she bent down pulling up Le Miserables “the movie comes out next year so I want to brush up.”
“Sounds like you have a few days of reading ahead of you.”
“Just in time with everyone gone.” Jennifer chuckled flipping through the large novel excited to go home and start it. “It’s just you and me this weekend Alfred. We should order pizza and have a full sleepover.”
“I was thinking maybe some nigiri?”
“Alfred! Did you hear me mention that I was missing my local shop in Japan?”
“I may have”
“I guess the pizza could wait one day.”
Glancing up Jennifer caught sight of herself in the reflection of the window. Frowning she reached up pulling down the small sun visor mirror catching the reflection of her eyes looking back at her. Bright blue with hints of green. Slightly oval in shape with thick dark lashes that matched her brown hair.
“Something wrong miss?” Alfred asked as the teen next to him frowned at her reflection.
“No,” Jennifer said closing the visor turning to look out the window as they approached the mansion. “Just got lost in thought about how excited I am for that nigiri.”
------
Jennifer flipped through the books while typing out notes on her laptop on the kitchen island while Alred prepared their dinner. While, as Alfred had pointed out, she could probably get more work done at her desk or even in the -newly found- Batcave Jennifer preferred to study with other people around. It made her feel just a little less alone.
“I thought you had a psychology paper?” Alfred said glancing down at the book on DNA and human expiration.
“Yeah, well…” Jennifer paused glancing sheepishly up at Alfred, “I just needed a few more questions answered for… another class.”
“I don’t remember you taking anything medical-related.”
“I…” Jennifer felt her face heat up and tears fight back behind her eyes. Stupid don’t CRY! She wasn’t sure if it was from the memories of Ryan coming back. The body of that little boy laying slumped over in his closet…
NO STOP IT.
“Jennifer…” Alfred’s voice was soft as he reached out touching Jennifer’s hand, “There wasn’t anything else you could have done.”
“I know,” Jennifer said choaking back a few wet laughs trying to push off the rush of feelings. “It’s more, I’m interested in this rise of Meta’s and.” she glanced at her books than back at the screen “Call it a hobby.”
“Maybe it’s a Wayne trait.” Alfred said more to himself than her, “To become a little obsessed with your hobbies.”
“Yeah, maybe it’s just written in my DNA”
--------------------------
“Wow we were gone like four days and it looks like your room exploded,” Annabella said as she came into her cousin’s room. Books and papers lay all over the floor like a huge map. A rainbow of sticky notes covering everything.
“Hey Zen! Glad to be back?”
“I guess,” Annabella said looking around the room for a moment before turning to her cousin.
“Did Dick get the stuff I sent him?”
“Yeah, I think? How come you are just helping him and didn’t just join the team?”
“Alfred has better food?”  Jennifer said laughing as Annabella bent down catching the glimpse of a picture of some kittens.
“What are you doing anyway?”
“Research.”
“On Selina?” the young Wayne asked holding up a picture of Selina Kyle dressed up in her leather Catwoman outfit.
“You know her?” Jennifer asked feeling a rush of excitement. “She’s been at a few of these labs that do animal DNA testing and… I’ve been trying to figure out why.”
“She’s very into animal rights, almost too much sometimes.” Annabella said, “used to date dad and she was always nice to me.”
“Kinky,” Annabella frowned and Jennifer quickly caught herself “I mean… interesting. Anyway, could we talk to her?”
“Sure why not.”
----
Finding Selina was harder than Zen had let on. Apparently, if Seilna didn’t want to be found while on her animal crusade she wasn’t going to be. But then again, did Jennifer really need to find her to ask what the labs were really up to when you could wear a mask and call yourself Animal-gender?
Ok, that’s not really fair, Robin wasn’t Robin boy… but still. BatMAN and CatWOMAN had dated.  For some reason Jennifer was getting a bigger kick out of that then she really should.
“That’s Dick’s bike.”
“Zen!?! How long have you been there?” Jennifer asked turning to her cousin
“I followed you down, you were really lost in thought. Also, what’s with the mask? Are you going out? Are you going to the Young Justice? Can I come?”
“No, I’m breaking into a lab and don’t want anyone to know it’s me and I’m pretty sure uncle will kill me if you come.”
“Do you even know how to break into a lab?”
“Dick’s been showing me some stuff.”
“Do you like him?”
Jennifer paused, where did that come from? Yes, she liked everyone, she was a people person, she liked lots of people. Plus it helped that Dick liked to show off so just a few “wow can you show me how to hack into a quantum level security system” with a few batting eyelashes could get you very far.
“I like Dick but not the way you are insulating.”
“I think you’re wrong.”
“Ok”
“So can I come?”
“To the lab?” Jennifer sighed thinking it over, I mean uncle let her hang out with the teen league. Plus being alone in that creepy animal lab… did sound a little scary.
“Sure, you have your own bike I’m assuming.”
“Of course”
------------
“These… I have never felt Animals like these” Annabella frowned as she walked through the cages while Jennifer scrolled through the files downloading the ones that seemed like the information she was looking for.
“What do you mean?” Jennifer asked her cousin glancing up for a moment. From one of the cages, a large Falcon watched her. He was so still, his yellow eyes making eye contact with him. Almost like he was listening to her.
Ok weird.
“I don’t know how to explain it” Annabella mumbled, “Like… some of them I can’t hear.”
Jennifer glanced at the bird again, his eyes flickering from her to the girl then back at her, “Which ones?”
“Those Rats are faint and… Annabella glanced at the bird who was now looking at her. Body so still for a moment he looked stuffed. “Him too.”
Quickly Jennifer did a search on F-22d19. Files and videos popped up. Her eyes scanning through it “oh… my… god…”
“What?” Annabella asked turning from a cage where a few puppies were sitting. One of them licking her fingertip.
“This place is way more than animal testing… these findings… they are from humans. Crossbreeding and meta geans. This place is super low level but…” Jennifer paused clicking deeper in her eyes flickering to the Flacon in his cage. The bird’s head leading forward slightly. Their eyes met and it nodded. Like it noded.
It fucking knew what was going on.
Jennifer felt goosebumps running up her legs as she downloaded the information.
“Annabella? Annabella?”
“Oh shit it’s Dick,” Annabella said cluching her earpiece.
“Oh hey, Dick.”
“Why is my motorcycle outside KOLE Bio Lab?”
“It’s a long story.”
“One I feel like your father would like to hear about.”
Both girls looked up to see Selina Kyle standing in the doorway. Arms folded over her chest.
“Selina!” the younger girl launched herself at the leather-clad woman hugging her.
“Catwoman…”
“And who are you?” Selina asked pointing to Jennifer as she hugged Annabella back.
“Just another curious cat?” Jennifer said flashing her a weak smile hoping the woman would appreciate some cat humor.
“What’s going on? Jen are you here too?” Dick’s voice sounded over the headsets. Jennifer bit her lip trying to stay calm.
“Well if you stick around that curiosity is going to kill you, I am about to set this place a light. Just need to let these little babies free.”
“Are there more?” Annabella asked.
“Three other rooms, this place is just where they keep the recent experiments. The homes and I use that term loosely, are down the hall.”
“I’ll help!” Annabella said, “I can keep them calm.”
“Give me 10 more minutes?” Jennifer asked biting her lip knowing she was asking a lot from a woman she had only just met.”
“Make it 5, I don’t trust boy wonder out there.”
“Robin’s outside?”
“Saw him riding up when I got here.”
“Shit ok, I’ll hurry.”
Nodding Selina and Annabella dashed off to free the animals leaving Jennifer to finish her work.
“Robin?”
“Yeah?” he sounded annoyed
“I’m sorry but… can you just wait there? We are coming.”
“Why are you in there Jen? What is going on?”
“Nothing.” Jennifer lied as she quickly dragged a few more files onto her hard drive.
“Don’t look at me like that?” she said to the falcon as he came closer to the bars giving her a rather judgy look. “I’m letting you and everyone else out I promise.” a simple nod and the started circling his cage, antsy.
“Is someone there?” Dick asked shit that’s right he could hear her.
“Just another bird boy, he may even be cuter than you.”
Dick laughed at that, “I doubt it. What, you think I’m cute?”
“Sure, objectivly you’re a good looking guy.”
“Uhhh thanks, your good looking too… objectively.”
Jennifer was about to respond when the alarm went off. REALLY? It had only been two minutes.
“Really Catwoman! I’m telling your boyfriend.”
“Jen, What's going on? Did you just say Catwoman?”
“No time.”
“Shoot!” Jennifer moaned as the animals started freaking out in their cages. Lights flashing and… did she smell smoke? “Shoot!” Jennifer said getting up. How was she supposed to open these doors? And Dick’s constant questions in her ear wasn’t helping. Pulling out the ear peice she put it in her back pocket with her harddrive.
“How do we get out?” Jennifer asked turning to the falcon. I mean he already acted like he knew it all. However, all she got was a screech large wings flapping.
Think Jen Think….
Then she saw it. How could she have missed it? A panel on the wall with numbers on it. A string of keys and a switch.
Quickly she grabbed the keys flipping the switching praying it was that easy.
Come on.
And it was.
The doors swung open animal escaping in a frenzy all of them seemed to be gathering around her. Quickly she dashed through the cages picking up any animals that would hurt themselves if they lept from the higher cages. All of them rushing toward the door the moment their feet hit the ground.
All but a small white kitten who’s little claws clung to her hissing at the sight of the laminated floor.
“Fine princess,” Jennifer mumbled tucking the kitten under her arm as she quickly trying to doge the animals as she reached the door fliting it open.
“Let’s go!” she screamed running down the hall grabbing a fire extinguisher as she ran, her small army of lab animals after her.
The large falcon at her side flying next to her its screeches like a battle cry.
----------
“Where’s Jen?” Robin asked his sister as she came running up Selina in tow. The whole lab alight with activity. Catwoman laughed turning to her handy work.
“Worried your girlfriend can’t keep up?”
“You just left her in there?”
“She should be fine…” Annabella said her tone less sure than her words.
A Large crash came from the large bay window about a yard away from them, the second floor.
“Viva La Revolution!” Jennifer’s voice cried following the shattered glass as she flew out landing, surprisingly gracefully, on the emerald grass below. Animals swarming around her, rushing toward freedom. Mice, rabbits, and even dogs rushing past her like a small army dashing off in every direction toward their freedom.
Slowly the brunette stood, a swarm of birds flying around her before taking flight into the night sky.
All but one.
The large falcon gently floated down landing in her open gloved hands. It nodded it’s large head at her as if thanking his savior. Then spreading his wings he took flight. The momentum of his motion making her long brown hair fly out as if she too had wings.
As if she too could fly away into a crystal filled sky. Join them, free from the cages that held them. The pain, that needless pain, that kept them chained to the ground.
To fly away as free as a bird.
The sight was unlike anything Dick had ever seen. In that moment he didn’t even recognize the girl. It was as if at that moment she transformed into someone… something else.
“Woah”
“You’re girlfriend's something else.”
“She’s not… never mind, You ok?” Dick asked walking toward Jennifer who turned to him blinking as if she had just woken from a dream.
“I…”
“Meow”
“Kitty!” Annabella squealed dashing toward the little animal. It took one look at her and ducked back into Jennifer’s jacket pocket. Jennifer couldn’t help but laugh.
“Princess didn’t want to run with the others so I had to carry her,” she told her cousin fingers stroking the soft white fur.
In the distance, the sound of sirens could be heard.
“And that’s my cue” Catwoman said giving the kids a little salute before running off into the night with the other free animals.
“We should go,” Dick said nodding toward their bikes. “Will you be able to ride with the cat?”
“I think I can keep up.”
“Cool.”

Adventures in Babysitting
Author's Notes: This fun idea kind of snowballed into this super long one-shot. This is a cute little story about my bbrae kids, Mark, Maria and Arella, while featuring Drake, an OC of @bearhow2‘s creation. Chloe is also mentioned, who is the daughter of Drake and Kole. Johnny is also briefly mentioned, he is my robstar son, who I made BEFORE DC gave them a son named Jake. Lol But anyway, that's all you need to know! Enjoy the fic!
P.S. If you like what you read, please leave a review. Don't just favorite or follow. Thank you!

"Mom we got this!" Maria said with a roll of her eyes.
Raven glared down at her oldest daughter. The young changeling certainly inherited her attitude, but before she could retort, her husband stepped in between them. "Come on can you blame us for being careful. This is Arella we're talking about. The girl is a monster-magnet!"
A snort came from the couch. "Since when?" Mark scuffed. "I've never seen any."
"That's because we sent you to stay with your Uncle Vic while we were dealing with a mad demon hunting us." Garfield explained.
Maria tensed, but Mark was still unconvinced. "At least it's better than staying at Aunt Kole's. Chloe burnt me last time."
Ignoring their son, the Logan parents turned to Maria who was still pleading her case. "Come on, you know you can trust us."
"It's not that we don't trust you, pup. We just aren't entirely sure if you two are ready for this kind of responsibility." Garfield reasoned as he bent down to her level. "But if you can promise us you'll be extra careful and do exactly as we told you to do, then I think your mom and I can give you both a chance to prove yourselves. Right, Rae?" He said, looking up to the amethyst gaze of his better half. Raven mulled it over for a few more minutes. She still was not quite convinced that her babies were ready to take care of each other, but Garfield did make a good point. Her older two deserved a fair chance. It also did not help that her husband and daughter were now giving her that look.
"Stop that!" She scolded, before finally conceding. "Fine, we will give you a chance."
Maria leaped, throwing a fist into the air and cheering for joy, while Mark simply rolled his eyes and turned back to his video game.
"I promise Mama, you won't regret this!" Maria exclaimed.
"I better not." There was a hint of warning in her voice, but Maria chose to shrug it off as did her father who was just happy to have some alone time with his wife for the first time in . . . Dear god he didn't even know.
"Alrighty then! Rae, why don't you go get dressed and I'll make a reservation at that restaurant you like so much." Gar said as he practically pushed Raven out of the living room, wanting to exit before she had a chance to change her mind. Once the adults had left the room, Maria skipped over to the couch and plopped on the empty spot beside Mark, who scowled as her added weight shifted the cushion he was sitting on and interrupted his hand-held game.
"Ah. Parents are gone." She waved her hand to levitate the phone to her outstretched palm. Basic enough magic she wouldn't get in trouble for using. "Pizza?"
"Do you even know how to order a pizza?" Mark deadpanned as he gave up on his game and turned his attention to his twin sister.
"We've seen uncle Vic do it how many times?" She countered before she dialed, but her ear suddenly twitched when the pitter patter of tiny feet caught her attention.
Arella, their sister whom they were in charge of, a fact they quickly forgot, was sleepily rubbing her eyes with a large yawn. A small, lime green blanket being dragged in her little grey fist. The young toddler came up to her siblings and looked up at them with large violet eyes dotted with emerald flakes.
"Mama?" She asked them as she frantically scanned the room for her parents.
"Hey there Ari! Mama and Dada are going out tonight, which means I'm in charge!"
"Excuse me?" Mark rose an eyebrow at her.
"I mean...we're in charge." Maria corrected herself, but not before shooting a glare at the boy his pink tongue already out at her.
Arella blinked at her feuding siblings with confusion. "Mama?" She repeated, her voice soft and high-pitched.
"No Mama." Maria sighed. "Bubba and Sissy!" Maria looked at the toddler hopefully.
Arella stared back at the older girl for a few moments, before tilting her head slightly to the right, her lavender hair falling to the side. "Mama?"
Maria let out a loud groan as she threw herself back in her seat. "I give up!"
"You're the one that wanted to watch her." Mark reminded her with a smirk pulling on his lips.
"Yeah, but I didn't think it would involve this much...watching."
He gasped. "Really? Watching a child? Weird. And here I thought babysitting meant we had to sit on her."
"Ha ha ha." Maria faked a laugh. "But seriously, what are we supposed to do with her for two and half hours?"
"How about we just put her to bed. She's obviously tired." Mark offered while gesturing to the toddler in front of them.
Arella let out another large yawn consequently shifting some of the furniture with her powers. Maria stood up taking her sister by the hand. "Come with sissy, Ari."
The two-year-old followed her sister out of the common room and down the hall. As they past the door to their parent's room, Arella pulled Maria's hand toward the familiar door. "Mama! Mama!"
"No Arella." Maria scolded as she pulled the little girl away from the door. "Mama isn't in there. She and Daddy probably teleported away by now. We're going to your room."
Arella frowned as she was led away by her sister. Maria brought her to another door just a few feet past her parent's room. As they entered the slightly smaller room, they were greeted with the smell of baby powder and a wave of green everything. The walls of the nursery were painted a bright lime green, the forest green stuffed animals sat in a pine green rocking chair, and even the carpet was a deep evergreen.
"This child is obsessed with the color green." Maria thought as she tugged the baby's hand, pulling her further into the room. "Alright I've seen mom and dad do this a thousand times. How hard could it be?" She brought her sister to her bed, pulled back the covers, then picked the little munchkin up and laid her down in the bed. The little girl squirmed a bit, but that did not stop Maria from bringing the covers over Arella's tiny body, effectively tucking her in for the night. She stepped back to admire her handiwork, but was met with expectant eyes that shimmered in the moonlight.
"Oh yeah." Just like with her and her brother none of the Logan children could sleep without first hearing the Swahili tongued lullaby their dad would always hum to them.
Lala mtoto lala lala lala lala
Lala sinzia lala
Lala mpendwa lala lala lala lala
Lala sinzia lala.
Sure enough, after a few minutes of the sweet, soft song, her baby sister turned on her belly and was out like a light.
"Finally." Maria exhaled as she snuck out of the room, making sure to gently shut the door behind her. "Piece of cake."
Satisfied with a job well done, Maria ventured back to the common room, where her brother still sat, but this time his head was buried in a book he must have snagged from his bedroom using his magic. She plopped next to him again, arms behind her head and a smug smile on her lips.
"I. Am. Awesome."
"I know. You were able to put an exhausted two year old to bed. I'll have your gold medal mailed in as soon as possible." He droned with sarcasm.
"Looking forward to it, now how about that-" she froze when she noticed the suddenly aged and worn text that her brother was now reading. "Is that one of moms!?"
He casually glanced on her direction, "Yeah why?"
She attempted to snatch it from him but he moved it out of her reach. "Are you nuts?! Mom told us specifically not to read those!"
"Oh what's the big deal?" He asked as he continued to evade her grasp.
"Remember the last time mom read an old book from a 'secret stash'?" Maria said giving air quotations with her fingers.
"She let out a centuries old dragon that tried to use her to break out of his prison. But I already scanned this book and it's clean."
"That's not the point! It could do worse-"
Mark finally floated into the air out of her reach. True they both shared snippets of the parents powers, but Mark was more sufficient with magic while Maria was more proficient in shape shifting, leaving her to glare at her brother.
"I told you. I've magically scanned this and there is nothing amiss. I'll prove it." He opened the book to a random page.
"Mark seriously stop it!" She pleaded, but she was promptly ignored when he began reading something in what sounded like Latin and after a few short lines finished the words and waited.
Both waited on bated breath but after a minute of silence there was still nothing prompting him to float back to the couch with a smirk on his face. "Told ya."
She scowled at him while crossing her arms over her chest, "Why the heck did you sneak one of moms books anyways?"
"Well I figured you'd be on the phone all night with your boyfriend, so I'd be free to expand my knowledge by dipping into the 'forbidden' stuff." He said both teasingly and excitedly.
Her pale green complexion suddenly when bright red. "Johnny isn't my boyfriend!"
His smirk widened. "Who said anything about Johnny?" She began sputtering, still red faced, as the lights began blinking above them. Mark's emerald gaze caught this, so he threw up his hands in surrender. "Okay, calm down, I'm just kidding." He tried to reassure her, but the lights continued to blink above them.
Her embarrassment was forgotten as she scanned the still flickering lights. "Th-That's not me." She stuttered as a small sense of fear washed over her.
He shrugged dismissively, "Well it's not me. Maybe Arella's having another nightmare?" Just then the lights shut off completely followed by an otherworldly howling ringing in their pointed, sensitive ears. Both children fell to their knees, covering their ears from the screeching just as a strange wind began blowing in their common room. They strained their eyes to look up at the ceiling to see a creature dressed in a long and tattered cloak with the hood drawn over a weathered and decrepit old face with long razor claws flying overhead before vanishing to parts of the tower unknown.
"Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! Oh god! Oh-" SMACK "-thank you." Maria slapped him again. "Ok! Ok!"
"Well serves you right for releasing that thing." She scolded as she sat her hands on her hips like her mother often did in times like these.
"I DIDN'T release it!" Mark hissed as his eyes flashed red for a brief second.
"SHH!" Maria covered his mouth with her gloved hand and used her other hand to make a "be quiet" gesture. Both twelve year olds were outside Arella's bedroom door. The first thing they did once the creature disappeared was check on their baby sister who, thanks to the sound proof walls, was still fast asleep.
Mark pushed her hand away from him. "She can't hear me!" He growled.
"No SHH so I can think!" She began to pace the small space in the hallway, tapping her finger against her chin. "Okay let's just think about this. You let something out-"
"-you mean 'we'." Mark interjected.
She stopped mid-step to glare at him."I specifically remember telling you not to read that book."
"Hey, you're the one in charge, so when they get back we're BOTH gonna get it."
She was about to argue more until her eyes widened and her scowl twisted up to a sinister smirk, as if she had realized something. "Not if we get rid of it before they get home."
He looked at her like she had grown a second head. "Your kidding right? You may not realize it, but we barely have a handle on our own powers and we're not monster hunters!"
"Nope," she grinned, "but we know someone who is."
She took off for the common room with her brother on her heels. "Oh and what are you gonna tell him, that we let out a monster while babysitting our sister?"
"You let out," She reminded as she ran past the threshold of the common room. She went straight for the phone and once she found it she went searching for the number.
"Semantics. But seriously what-"
"-SHH!" She pressed a finger to her lips as she brought the phone to her ear as it began to ring.
"Hello?" Came a sweet feminine voice from the other side.
"Hey auntie Kole! It's Maria." Mark was stunned at how calm and normal she sounded as she spoke.
"Oh hey Maria, how are you?" The voice, smooth as honey, came from the other line.
"Doing good, thanks for asking! Hey, we were wondering if Mark and I could talk to uncle Drake. We have a homework question for him." Maria requested, ignoring the befuddled look coming from her twin brother.
They could hear Kole stammering on the other side. "Um, let me see." The line was quiet for a moment but they could hear them muttering, before Kole scolded her husband, telling him to get off his lazy big butt and be nice.
"-I thought you liked my butt. Hello?" Now came the deep, bored voice of their honorary uncle.
"Hey uncle Drake it's Maria-"
"-yeah I know hon, what's up? I'm missing the game-"
"-your watching cake wars!" Kole shouted from the background.
"ANYWAYS!" Drake growled. "Just tell me what you need and make it quick."
"Right. See Mark and I are studying Latin and were curious about a phrase we came across." She motioned for Mark to look up the page, but he was already ahead of her, book in hand. With her finger on the page she repeated the lines that Mark had read earlier into the phone. The other side was quiet for a moment.
"You said this was . . . homework?" He asked in a disbelieving manner.
"Of course! You know our mom, always trying to challenge us!" She kept her tone as peppy as she could but Mark was already sweating.
Drake "hmm'd". "Well roughly translated, it talks about a Striga. A monster from way back in the Salem Witch days."
"So this doesn't summon a, um, that thing?" Maria questioned.
"Well not technically, but think of it like the 'Bloody Mary' legend. Say it's name and it comes."
Maria and Mark both nodded their heads in understanding "Oh I see. Now let's say, hypothetically a Striga WAS summoned?" Maria asked, but both tweens gritted their teeth as the line went quiet again.
"Well no one has seen a Striga in centuries so I doubt you called one. But 'hypothetically speaking' you'd be in big trouble because Striga's eat children. And the younger the better."
They didn't bother hanging up as they sprinted for the doors and to Arella's room. As they feared, her screams began ripping through the halls practically shaking the tower with her incredible magic. Flinging the door open they could see the creature hovering over a terrified Arella who had taken shelter under her covers.
"GET AWAY FROM HER!" Maria shifted into a Tiger and leapt sinking her teeth into the Striga and it away from her sister. Mark took this time to grab Arella and run for the doors.
"SISSY!" Mark stopped as Arella reach for his twin sister from over his shoulder. The Striga ripped the small tiger off of its arm and threw her against the wall with such force Maria's head cracked against the wall.
Mark winced, rubbing the back of his head as if he himself was hit before setting Arella down. "Stay here." And with fangs bared he blasted towards the creature. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" The magic incantation unlocked a flooding of dark green magic aimed at the creatures heart. But it suddenly vanished into thin air, avoiding the attack and then reappearing right next to him. With its claws wrapping around his throat he pinned him to the ground. He couldn't see the upper part of its face because of the hood it wore, but he could still see its bottom jaw creak open, its mouth glowing with an odd blue energy that was slowly draining Mark of his.
"BAD!" Mark and the Striga looked at Arella, whose little fists were glowing a deep olive green, her eyes glowing the same color with just a hint of red. "Azawath Metweon Zintoes!" Green magic shot from her hands like a full power fire hose, blanketing the ancient creature in burning power. It shrieked in agony until its cries faded into the darkness. Leaving all three children on the ground, out cold.
Worried from the very...abrupt ending to their conversation, Drake decided he should pay a little visit to the current Logan residence, just in case. Well, more like a certain pink-haired gem wielder wouldn't let him rest until he could "without a doubt" say the kids were safe. Either way, he was there, and after the tower's security system scanned his hand and recognized him as a senior Titan, he made his way up to the main floor. From there, he went down the hall until he came to a room with an opened door and three kids sleeping soundlessly on the floor.
Upon closer examination, he noticed the wallpaper was peeled in certain places, and toys were scattered about the room. The twin-sized bed was flipped on its side, with its contents pouring out of it. The retired dragon knight heaved a heavy sigh and shook his head.
"Boy, am I glad I only have one." He muttered to himself as he went to work fixing up the room. He found some glue to temporarily hold up the wallpaper, and reorganized the toys. He fixed up the bed, and with great care, placed each tiny Logan into the bed. He pulled up the covers and tucked them all in, even placing Arella's favorite little-green blanket over her. The kids shifted as they made themselves comfortable, but none seemed to awake. After taking a moment to admire his work, Drake made his way for the door, but before he could make his exit, a soft, small voice called out behind him.
"Thanks uncle Drake." Maria muttered before her eyes dropped back down and she once again, was fast asleep. Drake allowed a small smile to form on his face. "Being a dad has made me such a softy." He thought to himself as he quietly closed the bedroom door behind him. He left as quickly as he came, changing into his dragon form once he was outside and flying back home to his own family.
However, as soon as he had left, the parents of the mischievous children stepped into the common room through a black portal.
"Well I don't know about you, but that was the best night we've had in...I don't know, forever." Gar spoke playfully as he wrapped his arms around the woman's waist.
"It certainly was." Raven agreed as she ran her hands through his thick, green hair.
"Why don't you say we take this awesome night with us to the bedroom?" Gar asked in a low and husky voice, making Raven's legs shake with anticipation, but before the changeling could bend down for a kiss, Raven jumped out of his embrace and began scanning the living room fractionally.
"Gar, where are the kids?" She looked over to him with worry in her deep, amethyst eyes.
"Relax Rae, they're probably asleep by now." Gar shrugged it off, whiling stepping closer to her. "Why don't we go check on them real quick, then we can go to our bed." He said suggestively.
"I suppose." She accepted his proposal and made her way to follow him out the door, when a familiar leatherback cover laying on the floor caught her eye. With a flick of her wrist, the book floated over to her awaiting hands, where she quickly grazed over the title. Before Gar could ask her what it was, she disappeared into another portal.
"Rae! Raven! Is everything alright? Are the kids okay?" He stopped to catch his breath once he had found her by Arella's bedroom, peeking inside.
"Shh, Gar, you'll wake them up." Raven pushed the door forward just a bit more so that he could look through as well. When he did, he was met with the site of his three little pups all snug in the bed, softly snoring away.
"Aww how cute. They fell asleep together." Gar whispered and cooed.
Raven nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, I'm glad everything is fine." She said as she gently closed the door. "But tomorrow morning we should probably check the security footage."
"Why's that?" Gar questioned with a raised eyebrow.
Raven smirked has she held up the book in her hand. "Because this book is about monsters, and something tells me one of them made the mistake of reading a spell out loud."

Kole Weathers in 002
Ooh!  Good, I’ve been looking for an excuse to talk about Kole after I read her tenure yesterday!
How I feel about this character: I thought the version of her in the Teen Titans cartoon was cute, and her history as a character fascinated me. She was created to be killed in Crisis on Infinite Earths since so many other creators’ characters were dying and it was only fair that Wolfman lose a creation too, but the story goes that he ended up really liking her and was sad to see her go. And as a character, I really like her too. She kind of reminds me of a more outgoing Raven. When we meet her, she breaks free of being someone’s prisoner and helps the Titans defeat them, and while inexperience makes her a bit socially clumsy, that doesn’t stop her from seizing her freedom and going after what she wants. I think her character had a lot of potential, and it was nice to see her again in Convergence.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: At the risk of being predictable, Joey was really the one she had the most interaction with, and despite their relationship not really going anywhere thanks to Crisis, what they got was sweet, as well as their subplot in Convergence.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Like I said, she doesn’t have much in the way of interaction with anyone but Joey, but we got glimpses of her with Lilith and Gar (and Donna in Convergence). Kory also expressed desire to help her, and going with my comparison to Raven up there, I’d like to see how she’d interact with Raven.
My unpopular opinion about this character: … fandom seems kinda silent on Kole, so maybe having an opinion on her at all is unpopular?
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I’d love to see her come back for real in Rebirth, or whatever the initiative after Doomsday Clock will be called.  Give her a chance to really spread her wings as a character.  Both Titans books seem to be pretty good right now, so it would be a good environment for her.
My OTP: Again, Joey’s kind of the only option here.
My crossover ship: … crossover ships aren’t a big thing for me.
A headcanon fact: I have this idea of her dancing.  Maybe it’s the sparkly costume with the flowy crystal cape things, but I like thinking about Kole dancing.

Chapter 62 of BtBN
In a rare burst of, well, actually getting a lot of things done today, I updated my fic!
You can read it below (I put most of it under a read more). you can also find it on Ao3!
-------
"So where are we heading now?" Ren asked as she leaned on Koren's seat as he brought the ship out of hyperspace.
He handed her the data chip he had gotten from Allana. "Someone I was tracking, a mando like me and Shey. Garrett Reign. He's supposed to be in this system right now and I want to jump on this lead before it gets cold or he gets wind of someone trying to find him."
 "Why?"
"Because he's supposed to be dead." Koren brought the ship down, sending the clearance codes as they entered atmo. "Him and his team were all wiped out years ago and that was that. But a couple of months ago there were some sightings of someone that looked like him. So as someone who was adopted into the clans after his death, Mandalore asked me to check it out."
Landing the ship, he turned and stood, brushing past Ren and heading for the hall.
"Coruscant seems a strange place for a Mandalorian to hide."
"That's probably why he's here. Last place someone would look." Striding into the room that held the holoterminal, he turned the system on and brought up an image of the man in question. Addressing his team, "Alright. This is who I’m here to find. His name is Garrett Reign, he's a Mandalorian, 6 foot 5, red hair, lots of cybernetics. This is not a bounty contract, so he is to be brought in alive understand?" The others nodded, "good. The data chip says his last known location was at these coordinates and it doesn't look like he’s wandered much from the area so it's safe to assume he's been there a while. Expect resistance, he’s spent around 15 years in hiding so he probably won't like it when we come knocking."
"How many times did you rehearse that?" Vinn asked, earning a laugh from Connor.
Koren shot him a look before answering, "four, I'm a doctor, not a diplomat." He crossed his arms, "this could get dangerous so Connor, you're going to have to stay here."
"What!?" Connor exclaimed, "I wanna go with!"
"Con, you've already been in too much danger going to a place your mother owns, this is too much of an unknown. Plus kara would kill us if something happened to you." Connor teared up. "Either you stay here, or at your apartment. Those are your only options."
Pouting, Connor huffed out "fine" as he crossed his arms and glared at the wall to his side, refusing to make eye contact. He didn't want to be left out. "I'll go home."
"Alright, well stop there on the way." He paused, debating, "Ren. Can you and Vinn stay with Con, keep him company. I should be fine with just Arcann."
"Of course." Ren grinned and patted Connor on the head. "We can play some games, hows that sound?"
He glanced at her but didn't reply, deciding to continue pouting instead.
Sighing, Koren shut off the holo. "Let's get going."
The spaceport was busy as usual but surprisingly quiet as the team made their way to a shuttle. Piling into a single taxi much to the droid who was running the vehicle's distress, they headed first to Kara's apartment.
Connor headed inside without a word, still upset that he wasn't allowed to go with. Wishing them luck, Ren hopped out and followed Connor inside, Vinn by her side.
"Think they'll be alright with him?" Koren asked. Voicing the concern felt foolish, he knew ren could handle Connor, and she had pretty good control of Vinn that all three of them should be alright on their own. Maybe too good of control, he mentally corrected when he noticed the man reach over and place his hand on the small of her back as the door whoosh closed.
"They'll be fine. Ren is tough." Arcann answered unhelpfully.
"That's not what I-" Koren sighed, leaning back in his seat as the shuttle took them to the landing area closest to the coordinates. "Garrett could be tough, think we’ll be alright?"
"Of course," Arcann rose an eyebrow, confused on the sudden worry about the mission.
"It just seems strange. A mando faking their death? That kind of thing doesn't happen, there's no honor in it."
"You think there's a reason he went into hiding."
"Yes." The shuttle landed as he answered and the pair climbed out. "I'd rather we play this safe, maybe see if we can talk to him."
Arcann nodded but remained silent. He glanced at the shops and buildings as they walked down the streets.
"It's been a long time since I've been to coruscant." Koren reached over, grabbing Arcann's arm and led him over to a shop he recognized. “Oh! Hang on, I want to stop here.”
"Is it wise to take our time here?"
 "I'll only be a second."
"I mean for someone like you."
"I'm born and raised on Corellia, hunter or not I'm still a Republic citizen, besides I'm less likely to be recognized than you are even if you're wearing Theron's jacket."
Deadpanning Arcann decided to drop it, wandering off to browse as well.
Spotting something he liked, Koren grinned and called to get the attention of the shopkeep, "can I get this?" He pointed at a necklace that was being displayed.
"Of course!" The shopkeep grinned happily as he turned to look at them, his expression shifted to surprise and the grin widened when he made eye contact with Koren. "Oh! Battlemaster, it's an honor to see you again. Give me one second and I'll have this wrapped up, free of charge."
"What! No! I couldn't, the necklace isn't cheap."
"Nonsense, it's the least I can do after you helped my mother." He wrapped up the necklace for him quickly, handing it to him as well as a second package, "your brother requested this made, could you give it to him?"
Koren nodded, giving in and taking the items, "of course."
"Kole," Arcann asked, taking care to call him by his brothers name instead of Koren's own. "What do you think about these." He pointed at a tray of rings.
"For Theron and Kara?" He asked, when Arcann nodded he hummed in thought and pointed to three that were on the side, the band was silver with blue crystals embedded in them. It looked similar to the rings that Theron had used when he married Kara. "How about these, they match the ones they wear."
"Ah, these are special." The shopkeep pulled out the tray so they could see them up close, "they were part of a set, but there was a… miscommunication and these ended up not matching the rest."
"How much?" Arcann asked as he inspected the ring, turning it in his hand and rubbing his thumb along the engraving.
The shopkeep shook his head, "a friend of the Battlemaster is a friend of mine, there's no way I could charge you."
Koren sighed, fishing out some credits and handed them to the shopkeep, "please at least take this, I can't take these from you without paying." When the shopkeep insisted that he didn't need to pay Koren put them in a small bowl by the checkout, "then take it as a donation to your shop. You do amazing work and deserve the recognition."
Giving in the shopkeep thanked him as he wrapped up the rings, adding in chains to put them on as well. Handing the package to Arcann he smiled at him, "thank you for your business. Please have a wonderful day, both of you."
Thanking him they left the shop and resumed their mission, walking in companionable silence as they headed towards the coordinates.
"Are you planning on proposing?" Koren spoke up suddenly. His curiosity finally getting the better of him.
"No." Arcann shook his head, "at least not yet. I just rarely get time away from them where I could get something like this."
"So picking something up while you can. I get it." He grinned at his friend, "I think they'll like it."
They continued chatting as they walked, mostly Koren rambling about various things from work to Trey to Nora's new little one when he stopped in mid-sentence.
"What's wr-" Arcann started, but Koren shushed him, gesturing to a man that was walking by.
"Shhsh. That's him." He pulled Arcann to the side, leaning on him heavily as he fished the holo-disc from his pocket and compared the image that was on it to the passing man. Nodding he stepped away, approaching Garrett carefully. "Excuse me," he said, keeping his voice as cheery as he could manage, "do you happen to know this area at all? My friend and I are lost."
The man shook his head but remained silent.
"Well, maybe you could help me find someone instead, I was told by a friend that I could find people who were interested in work around here. Would you happen to know anyone who would fit that?" Koren pressed, opting to change his strategy a bit.
Again Garrett shook his head, grumbling as he did so. He gestured, signing, 'you won't find anyone like that here'. He paused as he started to sign something else and then stopped reaching up to the cybernetics that were attached to his neck.
"You seem awfully sure about that."
Garrett paused, brought his hand down and signed, 'you understand me?'
Koren nodded, "yea, I don't sign very often, but my friend and I will, time to time."
"Is that what you and Kara are doing during meetings?" Arcann crossed his arms over his chest.
"Maaaybe." The merc chuckled at the flash of annoyance that went across Arcann's face before turning his attention back to Garrett. "Look, I'll be square with you, I'm looking for a specific person and." He stopped mid-sentence as the larger man signed.
 ‘Kara. Hawke?'
"Yeah, she's someone I work with, and a good friend of mine."
'Is she the one who sent you?' The man looked concerned as he gestured the words.
"Let's say she did, will you tell me where I can find someone?" Koren held up the holochip between his fingers.
'No.' He let out a heavy breath, growling in annoyance. 'Go home.'
Realization dawned on him, "you know her, don't you."
 'That isn't your business. Leave.'
"What is he saying?" Arcann asked.
"He's telling us to go." Koren hummed in thought, "then tell me this, are you Garrett Reign?"
The man paused, nodding. He went to sign something but another man speaking up made his stop.
"Gare, whos your friends?" The man grinned as he cocked his head to the side.
'Leon' Garrett's face scrunched in annoyance, 'they know Kara.'
The man looked at them in surprise, "oh. Well, that's no good."
"And why’s that?" Koren asked hand already inching to his blaster.
"Because they're her old crew," Arcann answered. "She told me about them once a few months ago, she said they died almost fifteen years ago."
"And as far as she's concerned we still are." Leon shrugged.
 Arcann pulled out his holo.
"What are you doing?" Koren asked, glancing at Garrett as he watched him carefully.
"Calling Kara. She needs to know."
"Look, I don't think that's a good idea right now."
The holo pulsed as it connected, buzzing the commanders holo. As soon as she answered another man reached over and pressed the button to disconnect. "Tyr?" Was the only thing she got out before the holo disconnected.
"Boss," Leon greeted happily, "just in time."
"Hardly, she saw me." The man stepped away, sighing in annoyance, "good to see her reaction time hasn't dulled." He walked to stand in front of Garrett. "Now what to do."
"I was sent by Mandalore to find Garrett." Koren admitted, "she wants to talk, probably about why you disappeared." He shrugged, "you can make this easy, come with me back to base to see her, and then you're free to go."
"Like well let him go with you." Leon scoffed.
'I'll go' he signed in response. 'It's been years, I'm done hiding.'
 "But what if they-"
"If you are in hiding because you are targeted the commander can help. Kara has a lot of contacts, she can help you." Koren offered.
"Did you miss the part that she thinks we're dead?" Leon huffed a laugh.
"She already recognized him," he pointed at the newest addition to the group, "besides she's one of the most forgiving people I know."
Leon sighed and shook his head.
"He has a point. And if she's as well off as he claims she could solve this problem for us," Tyr admitted.
"We went into hiding to protect her, boss. If we suddenly appear now wouldn't that be suspicious?"
'Better than hiding in another backwater' Garrett returned, 'I’m going.'
Grumbling Leon gave in, "fine, c’mon. I'm sure Caleb will be especially excited." He gestured for them to follow, the other two already heading back to where they had been staying. "We have some speeders we can take to the spaceport. I assume you have a ship right?"

Prologue / Ch. 1 / Ch. 2 / Ch. 3 / Ch. 4
                                       Every King Needs a Queen
Chapter 5: The Adults Are Talking
Maria used her dark magic to open a portal to the top of the tower. When she stepped through her breach, she had to use her arm to cover her eyes as the wind created by the wings of a dragon blew in her face. By the time she was able to see again, the obsidian, scaly form of the dragon had been replaced with the well-toned body of an obscure man. His shaggy, untamed hair was marbled with brown and grey. His deep hazel eyes dulled with age, but still burned with a heated passion for injustice. He wore his signature black coat, now stained, frayed and torn from his past battles. Around his waist was a belt that held his varies weapons that he had collected over the years.
In his arms he carried a woman, his wife and companion whom he placed gently onto the ground.  She stood just under his chin, yet her small frame was misleading to those who knew of the power that ran through her veins and the experiences that flashed behind her crystal-like eyes. She stood with a confidence that made Maria envious. Her pink hair fell to her shoulders, and still looked as bright and as soft as ever. Clearly, this woman cared more for her appearance than the man at her side. And unlike her husband, she dressed in a more comfortable fashion, sporting a whimsical, baby-blue sundress that was patterned with bright yellow carnations.
As the couple approached the younger girl, her palms began to sweat, and she fought back the urge to run her gloved hands through her hair. Any nervous habit would be obvious to this pair and showing weakness in front of ones with such authority would look poorly on her part and undermine her own role here. So, the young changeling stood straight and bit the inside of her cheek as she looked upon the older duo with an empty gaze. She extended her hand out to the man who came to her first and offered a respectful greeting.
“Mr. and Mrs. Daniels, welcome to the Teen Titans West Tow- “
“Where is she?” He growled, ignoring her opened hand. The intensity of his glare made Maria’s figurative tail duck between her legs, but again she fought the urge to react.
“We do not have a location yet on Arella, but I have already assigned – “
He rolled his eyes “Not her! My daughter! Chloe! Where is she?”
Before Maria could answer, Mrs. Daniels came forward, placing a calming hand on her husband’s shoulder and pulling him back slightly. “What Drake means is that we appreciate you contacting us, Maria. Now if you could please escort us to Chloe, we would appreciate that.” Kole Daniels spoke with a steady and gentler voice, but Maria noticed the coloring of her knuckles as she held back her husband by his arm. Somehow, her reasonable request and peaceful presence diminished some of the tension that came off between the two other alphas on the roof. Maria nodded her head, as almost an unspoken thank you to the wiser woman.
“Right this way.” She said as she turned and led them back inside.
She led them soundlessly further into the tower, as they made their way to the special prison designed to hold even the strongest of metahumans. As they made their trip, Maria’s empathic senses picked up on the burning fury that came off the dragon knight behind her. She could smell the scent of cigar smoke, vinegar, and pepper that made up the distinct smell of anger. She clenched her fists, but kept a steady pace as she led them to their destination.
Once they entered into the small space that came between them and the containment unit, Maria took notice of the temporary prisoner inside. The pink-haired girl sat on the floor with her head against the wall and her eyes to the ceiling as if she were looking at something. Satisfied that her prisoner was being herself, Maria used one hand to pull off her glove and placed her exposed hand on the panel that was placed to the side of the door. The panel scanned her prints, then after a heartbeat, the it blinked green and the door slid open, granting them access.
Before Maria could take two steps in, Kole pushed past her and made a beeline for her daughter with open arms and wrapped them around her daughters neck.  Not at all bothered by the cuffs that dangled around her hands between them.
“Oh honey, I’ve missed you so much! Are you okay? Why is it everytime we come to visit you, it’s because you’ve gotten yourself into some kind of trouble? Oh, it doesn’t matter right now. I’m just glad you’re okay.”  She squeezed her tighter, pressing Chloe’s head into her chest.
“Mom...your boobs are in my face.” Chloe grumbled as she tried to squirm out of her mother’s grasp.
Slightly embarrassed, She let go of her daughter and stood back up to give her some space. “Sorry.”
“Hey what about me?” Kole glanced at Drake who had been stuck in place by solid crystals around his ankles formed by his loving wife.
She glared.  “Are you gonna behave?”
He rolled his eyes and put on his widest, fakest smile.  She scrunched her nose.  It would have to do.  She waved her hand and released him, but his smile quickly vanished with the crystal.
“Dad, just let me explain.”
“Somebody better.  We get a call saying you’ve been ‘detained’ and Arella has gone missing, but no one is telling us why!”
“Don’t forget she knocked out her leader.” Maria glared.
Drake waved her off, “Yeah I don’t care about that.”
Chloe stood up beside her mother, but kept a bit of a distance between her and her father. “Okay so about a week ago -”
“Hold on.” Drake interrupted her. It only took him three strides to cross the room. When he reached her, he held out his hand, ready to clutch the chains of her cuffs and melt them on the spot, but Chloe stepped back, out of his reach. Before he could protest, Chloe wiggled her arms, and out popped both her hands, now free of the power-canceling cuffs.
Both Maria and Drake starred at the young girl in amazement. “What the hell?” They said in unisine.
Chloe simply shrugged. “Oh come on, like you didn’t teach us how to escape power-canceling cuffs in the first week of training?” She said as she looked over at Maria who huffed and crossed her arms.
“Anyways, back to what I was saying. About a week ago, Uncle Landon came to me-“
“-oh god!” Both Kole and Drake groaned facepalming.
“ANYways he was asking me for a favor.” Drake and Kole glanced at her in horror causing her to roll her eyes. “Shut up, I kept my soul.  He told me that Arella was about to get blamed for something bad, and when that happens, I should give him a call on this.” Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a classic flip phone about the size of her thumb. She held it out for everyone in the room to see, but Drake quickly snached it from her hand.
“That crazy mother fucker gave you my old phone.” He mumbled under his breath, but it was still loud enough for everyone to here.
“Drake, language.” Kole scolded her husband, before turning back to her daughter. “Go on Chloe.”
The younger knight nodded her head at her mother in gratitude before continuing. “So anyway, I didn’t understand what he was blabbering about at the time, but when I overheard Maria accuse Arella of murder, I just knew that was what he meant. How he knew that was going to happen is beyond me, but I did as he told me. Arella teleported us to some beach around here, and I gave him a call.”
A scary silence settled over the cell.  “M-Murder?” Kole squeaked.
“Arella is a suspect in a series of murders.” Maria spoke. “I have the evidence to back it up.”
The scary silence again this time causing Drake to begin pacing the cell, rubbing his face with his hands.  He stopped at the wall, the overwhelming information buzzing around his head like killer bees.  “So Arella is with Landon then?” Drake questioned.
Chloe answered him with a nod.
“Damnit.” Drake cursed once again, ignoring the scaving look his wife was sending him. “Chloe, what did I tell you about him?”
Chloe wasn’t in the mood for a lecture, or stupid questions, so her response was as snippy as she could get. “Don’t trust him.”
“And what did you do?”
“I trusted him.” She sighed. “But you don’t understand, Dad, Arella had no one else to turn to! If she had stayed here, she would be the one locked up right now, not me and god know what else.  Besides YOU trusted him before!”
“That was different!” He barked.  “We did what we HAD to do!  This is just two teenagers in way over their heads!!”
Chloe narrowed her now slitted eyes, but before anything could escalate further, Kole stood between them, but spoke to Maria.  “Maria, have you contacted your parents yet?”
“No ma’am, not yet. I’ll go ahead and do that now.”
“Good. As both your father and your boss, Gar deserves to know as soon as possible.”
Maria nodded her head in agreement, but before she could excuse herself to make the call, a flash of red showed up in the doorway. Bart Allen caught his breath after coming to a stop by the door.
“Hey boss, we’ve got some more visitors.”
“What? Who?”
Just then, the tower’s security system sounded throughout the tower. “Welcome, Changeling and Raven.”
“Oh crap.” Maria muttered, but begrudgingly stepped out of the room and went to accept her fate.
When she entered the common room, she was met with the backs of her parent’s who were currently conversing with the other members of her team. Her father was the first to hear her enter the room, and his worried gaze fell upon her as she approached them.  Raven followed his line of sight to her daughter, whom was quickly taken into her arms.
“Maria, thank goodness, is everything alright?” Her mother asked her in her signature gravelly voice.
“How did you know if anything was wrong?” Maria answered with another question.
“Mother’s intuition.” Raven deadpanned.
“Plus your mother just happens to be the greatest empath in the universe, so of course she knows if something fishy is going on between one or more of her kids.” Garfield added as he stepped closer to Maria. The older man may have been as fit as a whistle, but years of battle still made themselves known. His once thick, forest green hair, now shining with grey streaks and thinning over the top. The corners of his mouth now wrinkled from every past smile and frown. His suit mirrored her own, white with purple around the sides and collar. Only his had no emblem over the chest.
His wife and mate beside him nodded her head in agreement. Her own features aging as well. Her once deep violet locks that fell past her shoulders now had grey roots, and her small body had some added weight, compliments of her child-bearing years. She had no wrinkles though, and in fact, her skin looked as flawless as ever, due in large part to her self-healing abilities. Her long, navy blue cloak just barely missed the floor and hung against her wide shoulders. She addressed her daughter with a sense of urgency.
“Now where is Arella?”
For some reason, Maria felt a spike of jealousy rise within her. Even though Arella was the problem at the moment, it still felt wrong for them to immediately worry about her baby sister before her. Would it kill them to think about her for a change? But Maria had to shove those feelings away, for there were more pressing matters to attend to.
“That’s the problem Mom. You see,” She hesitated.  Was she really about to tell her own mother that her sister, their daughter was a killer?  No going back now.  “About a week ago the guy we were after was brutally murdered before we could get to him. Just like twelve others before him. So I went to the crime scene to investigate, to see if this was more than a coincidence.”
Raven wide eyes urged her to continue. “And?”
Maria gulped.  The eyes of her parents plead for the truth, but, how could she tell them. She inhaled through her nose.  “And while I was there, I picked up . . . Arella’s scent.” Raven let out a gasp in horror, her hands shooting to cover her mouth, while Garfield looked away in distraught, but Maria hadn’t finished. “I also found a security camera that I had Susan salvage for me.”
At this, Raven held up her hand to silence her. “No. I-I don’t want to hear this.” She looked over to her husband who was now pacing the common room floor.
“Sorry Raven, you’ll need to hear this.” The sarcastic voice of Drake Daniels came from behind Maria, forcing the girl to turn her attention to him. Raven regarded the dragon knight with a suspicious gaze. Garfield stop his pacing to do the same.
“Drake.” Garfield scuffed as he stepped in between the other man and his wife and daughter. “What are you doing here?”
“Dealing with my out of control daughter, same as you.” Garfield opened his mouth to retort, but his reply was cut off.  “I’m not here to start a fight with you. It seems that my Kid, helped your kid escape.  With him.”
“Landon.” When Raven said the name, the temperature in the room dropped and her eyes transformed into red burning slits.
Drake shrugged, “And you win the trip to Maui.”
Raven snarled, a more disturbing noise than anything Gar could do. “That bastard has been hovering around Arella ever since that night he killed Carnus.” She said through clenched teeth, the rage in her voice sending a chill down the normally tough as nails demon killer. However, it only took the calming touch of her green husband to return her features back to normal.
“Where are they?” Gar asked.
Drake shrugged again, “I don’t know-“
“-your bffs and you don’t know!?”
“Settle down!” Drake commanded, “A) were not joined at the hip and B) we don’t speak unless he visits Chloe.  But I may have a clue.” He reached into his coat and pulled out the phone he confiscated from Chloe and waved it in the air.
“Seems his royal pain in the ass gave a parting gift to Chloe.”
Gar moved quickly to try and swipe the little device, but Drake (even after all these years) was still quicker.
“Give me the phone, Drake!” Gar growled. During his years as an authoritative figure, Gar had learned how to be more intimidating and direct, but even if his temper could make the young heroes he trained wet their pants, it was useless on the even scarier monster slayer.
“We both know you are the last person Landon will talk to.” Drake reasoned.
“Maybe so, but I know he will talk to me.” Raven spoke up, slightly startling the two grown men who seemingly forgot she in the room. Before Drake could protest, Raven was already halfway to the door. “Come on, we’ll do this in the old study.”
Drake cast a curious gaze over to Gar who looked as if he were pouting like a child. Seeing that he was not going to make a move to stop his wife, Drake figured he shouldn’t either.
“I guess we’ll go see what we can find out from Landon, in the meantime, maybe Maria here can catch you up in what’s been going on here.” Drake offered to Gar as he followed Raven out the door.
Raven’s scowl never left her face for the entirety of the journey to the study, which was the very same one used by Dick Grayson himself all those years ago. Such simpler times they were, when she only had her teammates to worry about. Once they went inside the smaller room, she began pacing, mentally screaming her mantra to calm herself.
“This all makes sense now,” she mumbled, “he’s watched us for years, waiting and plotting.”
“Don’t give him so much credit.” She wiped her head to Drake’s direction, “he didn’t plan on what Arella would do, he just knew she would snap eventually.” He lowered his tone as he reached for the phone, “just like we all did.”   She fought the urge to rip his head off, but deep down she knew he was right. With the phone dialed he turned to her.  “You ready for this?”
She sighed walking to his side. “Sure.”  He hit the speed dial.
“I was wondering when I would hear from you.” The Englishmen spoke from the other end of the line.
“Where’s my daughter?” Raven snapped, the sound of his arrogant voice making vile rise in her throat.
“Raven? I thought it would be Drake calling me?” He seemed genuinely surprised.
“Don’t worry I’m here too.”
“Aw! There’s my second favorite dragon!”
Raven ignored their banter, “Last time, where is-“
“She’s fine darling, she’s resting.”
“That doesn’t answer my questions-“
“-relax.” He said again more forcefully.  But now it was Drake’s turn.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve involving my daughter in all this.”
“Yes, yes I’m a horrible person, I will burn in Hell.  Oh wait, I already did that.  Here’s the situation we find ourselves in.  Arella has, by my count, killed at least twelve,  all current guests of my kingdom so no worries there, and before she gets to far gone I’ve taken it upon myself to stop that.  Which you obviously FAILED to do in the last eighteen years.”
“AS IF YOU EVER GOT THE PARENT OF THE YEAR AWARD!”
Raven slammed her hands onto the table, shrieking into the cellphone producing a good three to five minutes of silence from everyone in the room, including Landon.  Drake placed a hand on her shoulder to ease her tension when Landon spoke again.
“Toushay, but you have to agree things are a bit out of hand at this point and ‘hoping’ things will get better isn’t going to cut it.”
The two were quiet for a moment as they let this new information marinate, “I’m going to put you on hold.” He hit the mute button and turned to a confused Raven. “Listen. Rav-“
“No.” She shot. “I’m not considering letting my daughter stay with him.”
“Raven, just hear me out,” his tone was as calm as he could make it. “I love Arella like she was my own.  She has been a sister to Chloe in every way imaginable, and I don’t want her to give in to Trigon’s influence as much as you don’t, but if Landon-“
“NO!” She screamed. “She is my child, and her family will handle this!”
“How? Raven, Arella killed people. I don’t know the circumstances, but it won’t look good to the League, or anyone else and you can’t protect her from that.”
Her eyes were narrow, hateful slits and her tone even and flat.  “Watch me.” She grabbed the phone, unmutting it.  “Give her back to me. NOW!”
Landon let out a growl of frustration from the other line.  “Why can’t you understand?! I. Am. Not. The bad guy!”
Once again, Raven’s tone was flat, even, and threatening, “Your a full blooded demon. You will ALWAYS be the bad guy. Now give her back to me, or you WILL know pain.”
The other end was silent for a few heartbeats.  “Darling. I already know pain. I’m doing this, because I want it to stop.” And the phone went dead.
Raven buried her head in her palms, and her body began to shake as sobs began to escape her lips. Objects around the room were encased in black magic and began floating about. Drake stood there awkwardly, as he stared at the weeping mother. The gears in his mind began to turn as he tried to figure out their next move. For now, however, he realized the best thing to do was to let his old friend mourn the disappearance of her daughter in peace. Oding the only thing he knew how to do, he reached out a tentative hand over Raven, and placed it gently on top of her silky hair. Raven stilled for a moment, as if she was reminded of the other person in the room, but then turned around and wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face into his chest. Drake stood frozen as she continued to cry. Slowly, his arms wrapped around her own body, and he simply stood there while she stained his shirt with her tears.
Unbeknownst to them, across the ocean, sitting back in a chair as the fire of the fireplace crackled in front of him, casting a soft glow upon his body in the dead of night, was the demon king himself. He sat in his chair, staring off into the dancing flames, an old cell phone in one hand and a glass of scotch in the other. Not far from him, a young girl slept peacefully in her room, safe and sound. Just as he had promised. Yet the words of the girl’s mother rang in his ears, just as harsh as the first time they had hit their target.
“As if you ever were the parent of the year!”
His thoughts strayed from the girl sleeping in the room to an even younger girl, curled up in a peaceful slumber. Her skin white as milk and her hair dark as the feathers of a raven. And with these thoughts, a single tear left his eye and slid down his cheek, until it fell onto the phone that still read the caller-ID.

Author’s Notes: So there is a lot of significance into this ending that will make more sense as we progress. If any of you read BH’s stories, you may already know what I’m referring to, so yay for you! Again, I apologize for the unplanned hiatus. It was entirely on me. I write when I can, and when I feel inspired to do so. Not only do I need time to write, I also (more importantly) need the right mood to write. So for that reason, this story may come and go in spurts, but I promise you all that BH and I will make it worth the ride!
As always, if you read it, please review it! Your support is always appreciated!
