I have another HC to share with you! Ghost and Soap in the many timelines in the multiverse have lots of Deja vus together. They both always feel like they have met somewhere before and whenever they say something familiar, they pause, and stare. They don’t know why they stood still for that, but they did and both would get a flash of being in the same place but a different time. Never to be able to explain it but they both just feel like this is where they need to be. :D
I know this has been sitting in my inbox for a while, but I feel now is a good time to bring it up.
Simon and Johnny know each other. Well, they did.
Ghost knew John. Out in the snowy plains where they huddled under the branches of a naked tree, breaths of cold air mingling among the fallen snow.
They whisper softly and mutter about the harsh conditions as they talk over their strategies. It's hard to talk strategies and think about the enemy when you're freezing to death and the only warm body next to you is each other.
They know each other. They know each other's smells. Crashed in the same bed after a long mission, not necessarily romantic or anything else, just two men two need rest and the closest body to them while cooped up in a safehouse.
John and Simon know each other wherever they go. Everything they find themselves they always... Know.
Simon was shot, the remains of his body melted into the uniform he wore and his dog tags barely showing the name of an honored fallen soldier.
John kissed that same man's forehead, promising his brother in arms he'd avenge his death. And he did. So he thought.
John was killed. That was it...
Simon and John know each other.
Simon knows John though he's scared to watch him. Simon sits in the corner of the school yard at recess, watching that cute boy laugh and kick around the courtyard football with his friends.
He hides deeper in his sweater hoodie as he watches John. There's just... Something about him. A weird familiarity. He couldn't call it comfortable because truly he didn't know what that was yet.
But John was different. No one noticed Simon, he tried to hide. But John did.
Piercing blue eyes recognizing him as they were assigned for school projects. Staring into each other's eyes John recognized something in the lidded soft brown gaze that was shaded under the big hoodie.
They knew each other. It was something strange. Back at their age you might call it soulmates. Hell, they even stole a kiss or two behind the school building with racing hearts unsure of what this was for them.
Simon was scared, scared of everyone, but not of John. John made something turn in him, a familiarity he couldn't place. Among the wretches of a horrible school life John made him feel different. Like he was known.
John and Simon always know each other.
Whether it's that sweaty photo of football star goalie in the newspaper as Simon works his boring job that makes his insides tighten and his brain hurt. He recognizes the lad, though the familiarity must just be the popularity he's gotten in recent months.
They always know.
Even when it's that stubborn man with a charming smile serving up latte's while his eyes clearly watch the tall man sat at the corner table mulling over writing on his computer. Having order two cups of tea and written seven chapters of the man behind the counter. They're enamored with each other in every universe. In every scenario.
I'm the grocery store aisle when they meet gazes while cliquely going for the last bag of saltine crackers on the shelf.
Looking from deep brown to electric sea blue and seeing something deep. Knowing. Familiarity however much surface level it may be, they know.
John knows Simon, when he gently hits his lieutenant's arm, telling him he'll be waiting for him. Because it's comforting, it's natural. Whatever it is he's just like this with Lt.
Simon rolls his eyes because it feels good, something about this touch is different. Makes him feel different. It'll always be different. But he let's it slide because... Well he isn't sure why.
Johnny is shot and killed... Simon goes after Makarov alone to avenge the bond he had with his fallen brother. So, so much more than that. He dies fighting for his soulmate.
Even waking up, looking up through lidded eyes to the man smiling down at him. Having grown his hair down, a soft hand stroking his shoulder.
"You awake eh' Simon?"
Simon hums, taking John's hand and placing it against his cheek, leaning into it. John smiles softly, cupping his head and kissing his forehead, pulling him closer. Simon wraps his arms around him.
Johnny has always been that one. There's just something unexplainable. No matter what happens or what decisions they make, the universe will make sure they are with each other.
Because they aren't truly whole alone, and no matter where they come from or where they go, they'll need each other.
Whether it be walking out the days of school and stealing kisses behind the school building. Or that stupid goalie winking at the giant reporter, patting his bicep and taking the mic, telling him he'd give him the private scoop over coffee.
Whether it's Johnny making the move to bring the tired author another cup of coffee, giving him a gentle smile and telling him he's got him covered.
Whether it's simply handing over the last box to the random stranger with the weird mohawk and joking about both their diets being shit, sharing shopping lists and chuckling as they're both headed to get instant noodles.
Or whether it's simply after a long, fulfilling career in any of these, laying down into retirement and content to spend the rest of their lives in each other's arms, at each other's side. Because that's where they're to be.
They're Johnny and Simon.
Sergeant and Lieutenant.
Brothers, lovers, whatever it may be. There's always a way that they end up together...

Karel Vejmelka interview - "Coming out is still taboo in ice hockey."
Tumblr media
Three weeks ago, Karel Vejmelka - the number one goalie of the Arizona Coyotes - did an interview in Czech and I thought that some of the stuff he said there was interesting or funny enough to deserve to be translated and put out on here:
How popular is ice hockey in Arizona? Is it the sport number one there?
Oh, absolutely not. Not many people come to the games, it's like the fifth or sixth most popular sport there. The first is of course baseball, American football, basketball... No one really wants to come to an ice rink. Unfortunately, hockey hasn't found its place there. People have a different mentality. ...In every sport in the US, you see fans who are binge-eating hotdogs, fries and not really watching the game. Sports are a show for them, people go there to have fun not to watch the sport itself. It is actually funny to watch them sometimes when I am not just playing, look into the stands and see what they are doing there, you know, pizza falling under their legs and so on. After the game it is always an absolute mess in the stands.
What about some entry rituals when you come there (to Arizona) as the new guy, do you have to do something, some task or challenge?
We had karaoke there, you had to pick a song to sing and it was funny because we were just going from the teambuilding in a coach and I had to go to the front of it where the microphone was and sing a song. I chose Sweet Caroline and said to myself that it is the smallest evil. But the boys helped me, they sang along, though I still had to suffer through it.
Do you pay some fines, for late arrivals, first zero in the net?
Yes, we do. We have a price list for the different fines. I paid 1000 dollars for the first zero, that was the biggest so far. I told them back then that they should be the one paying me for catching all the shots. It accumulates over time for the big end-of-the-season dinner.
You have been in the net several times when the team played against Connor McDavid (Edmonton), is he for you as a goalie something unique?
He is unique in a way that you can't guess what he's gonna do. In the case of some other players, I more or less assume where are they going to shoot or skate, but in Connor's case, you can't guess anything because he is so fast and has such skilled hands that he always does something different. He is on a completely different level than everyone else.
Can you smoke as players, do chewing tobacco, that's popular among the players, no?
You shouldn't be smoking. Tobacco is like a substitute for that, personally, I don't do it, but most of the other guys do. We have a lot of doping tests throughout the season, this year we had one already during pre-season. In the beginning, we go together as a team and during the season, they can randomly choose like ten guys. I have been chosen like that as well quite a few times actually.
I am not sure whether you have noticed it, but a few months back a lot of people were discussing the coming out of the soccer player Jakub Jankto, it was a huge thing cause no other player on the national team has ever done so. I have never noticed this happening in hockey, is it still taboo to announce that you are a homosexual because it is this sort of masculine sport?
I think so. Not everyone can realize and admit it even within themselves, let alone publically announce it like this. He (Jakub Jankto) is amazing that he had done so, I believe it must have helped him a ton. I personally have a positive attitude towards this, why shouldn't one come out, why should they hide when sooner or later it (the truth) will surface anyway? ... However, there are those "funny remarks" when someone is for example shaving their legs, we do joke about that in the locker room.

“…There's simply no time for anything else during the season. But the All-Star weekend is different. Everybody loosens up, and even players who'd been banging away at each other the day before sit and talk like old friends.
I found it hard to believe that I belonged there. I pretty much played the wallflower at the beginning, and along with Alex Mogilny, who also felt a bit out of place, just sat and watched the show.
In comes Mark Messier, for example, wearing a long black coat and looking like some kind of mysterious big shot. He spots Coff and the two of them sit down together and talk about the old days when they were teammates back in Edmonton, obviously enjoying their reunion. Then Mario walks by, and even though he and Messier barely know each other, having played together only briefly on the Canadian national team, they shake hands like old friends, too - just a couple of all-time hockey greats glad to have the chance to say hello. Over in a corner sit the goalies, who seem to be having a secret conference among themselves. Who knows, maybe they're discussing the tricks of the trade and comparing notes on the other players in the room.”

WOLF PACK FALL 4-3 TO MONSTERS IN SHOOTOUT
Tumblr media
By: Alex Thomas, Hartford Wolf PackHARTFORD, CT – The Hartford Wolf Pack rallied back from a three-goal deficit on Thursday night at the XL Center to earn a point against the Cleveland Monsters. Despite their best efforts, however, the rally came up just short as Hunter McKown scored the winner in the bottom half of the fifth round to give the Monsters a 4-3 shootout victory.McKown waited out Wolf Pack goaltender Louis Domingue before tucking in the deciding tally. Trey Fix-Wolansky also scored in the shootout, while Brett Berard had Hartford’s lone marker in the skills competition. The Monsters needed only 16 seconds on their second powerplay attempt to open the scoring on this night. Brendan Gaunce tipped a point shot from Marcus Björk past Domingue to give Cleveland a 1-0 lead at 4:37 of the opening frame. The goal was Cleveland’s third powerplay marker against the Wolf Pack this season. The Wolf Pack went on the kill for a third time at 8:10, giving the Monsters a chance to extend their lead. The Monsters’ leading scorer among defensemen, Jake Christiansen, buried a shot from the high slot to make it 2-0 just 33 seconds into the advantage. Christiansen’s initial bid rang off the post before finding its way back to his stick, where he made his second try count at 8:43.The Pack brought good energy following the Christiansen tally, testing Jet Greaves on numerous occasions to try and cut into the deficit heading into the intermission. Greaves, however, made eight saves in the opening frame to keep it 2-0 for the visitors.Monsters forward Jake Gaudet went off for boarding 4:41 into the middle stanza, giving the Wolf Pack their first crack at the man advantage.During a desperation play to keep the puck in the zone, Roman Ahcan snuck behind the Wolf Pack defense and was sprung in on a shorthanded breakaway by Tyler Angle. Ahcan waited out Domingue and tucked the puck by his pad to make it 3-0 Monsters at 5:21.The Wolf Pack responded swiftly, connecting on the powerplay as Jake Leschyshyn fed Tyler Pitlick in the slot. Pitlick roofed his first goal as a member of the Wolf Pack to make it 3-1 at 6:05. Berard notched an assist on the powerplay tally as well, which came 44 seconds after Ahcan’s shorthanded marker.Midway through the third period, the Wolf Pack found themselves shorthanded yet again at 8:39. This time around, it was Hartford returning the favor with a shorthanded goal of their own.Berard broke free on a breakaway after the Monsters failed to keep the puck in the zone, busting down the right wall before beating Greaves short-side to make it a 3-2 game. Berard’s tally was his team-leading 17th and his second shorthanded.Samuel Knazko went off for delay of game late in the third period, giving the Wolf Pack a chance at some late-game heroics. With the goalie pulled, Nikolas Brouillard hit an open Ryder Korczak with a cross-ice pass. Korczak ripped home his sixth goal of the season to tie the game 3-3 at 17:48. Pitlick notched his second point of the night (1 g, 1 a) on the play.A back-and-forth overtime saw numerous chances to win it from both ends, but 65 minutes would not be enough. For just the third time this season, the Wolf Pack were pushed to a shootout.Despite Berard opening the shootout with a goal, Fix-Wolansky would tie it in the bottom half of the first round before McKown provided the winner in the bottom half of the fifth round. Greaves denied the final four Wolf Pack shooters to claim his first victory against Hartford.Despite the loss, the Wolf Pack finished the season series with six of a possible eight points against the Monsters (2-0-1-1).The Pack finishes off their six-game-in-eight-day stretch tomorrow night when they visit the Springfield Thunderbirds. The puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.The Pack is back at the XL Center on Wednesday, February 28th, at 7:00 p.m. when the Charlotte Checkers come to town.Tickets are available at hartfordwolfpack.com.About OVG360: OVG360, a division of Oak View Group, is a full-service venue management and hospitality company that helps client-partners reimagine the sports, live entertainment, and convention industries for the betterment of the venue, employees, artists, athletes, and surrounding communities. Unbelievable Luck or Master Strategy? The Story Behind the Golden Knights' Incredible Run to the Stanley Cup Finals
Tumblr media
Unbelievable Luck or Master Strategy? The Story Behind the Golden Knights' Incredible Run to the Stanley Cup Finals Unbelievable Luck or Master Strategy? The Story Behind the Golden Knights' Incredible Run to the Stanley Cup Finals The Las Vegas Golden Knights had a historic run to the Stanley Cup Finals during their inaugural season in 2017-2018, becoming the first expansion team in NHL history to reach the championship series. Many were left wondering if their success was due to sheer luck or a master strategy. In this article, we explore the journey of the Golden Knights and dissect the factors that led to their unprecedented success. The Birth of the Golden Knights The NHL's announcement of a new expansion team in Las Vegas was met with skepticism in 2017. Many believed that a city known for its hot desert climate and not hockey was not a suitable location for a new team. However, the Golden Knights defied all odds and quickly became a fan favorite in the city. The Expansion Draft One factor that contributed to the Golden Knights' success was the expansion draft. Each NHL team was allowed to protect only a limited number of players from the draft, leaving a pool of quality players for the Golden Knights to choose from. General Manager George McPhee and Head Coach Gerard Gallant made bold selections, picking up players that other teams had undervalued. The Impact of Marc-Andre Fleury One of the key players selected by the Golden Knights was veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Despite being left unprotected by the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fleury was still considered one of the top goalies in the league. He proved his worth by posting incredible numbers throughout the playoffs and was a major factor in the team's success. The Impact of Coaching Another factor that contributed to the success of the Golden Knights was the coaching staff. Head Coach Gerard Gallant led the team with a hands-on approach and instilled a winning mentality within the team from the outset. His strategy of focusing on team chemistry and camaraderie paid dividends, leading the team to record-breaking success. The Commitment to Excellence One of the things that set the Golden Knights apart was their commitment to excellence. From management to players, everyone was dedicated to achieving the highest level of success possible. This dedication was reflected in the team's impressive work ethic, attention to detail, and relentless pursuit of victory. The Fierce Competitive Spirit While the Golden Knights were largely seen as underdogs, they never let this perception hinder their competitive spirit. Every game was approached with the same level of intensity and determination, and this attitude paid off in a big way. The Community Connection The Golden Knights quickly became a source of pride for the Las Vegas community. The team's commitment to giving back to the city that welcomed them with open arms was evident in their active involvement in the community, both on and off the ice. This connection helped to foster a sense of unity and loyalty among fans, who rallied behind the team throughout its incredible journey. The Legacy of the Golden Knights The impact of the Golden Knights' success will be felt for years to come. The team's incredible journey has become an inspiration to sports fans worldwide, shining a light on the power of determination, commitment, and teamwork. Whether their run was due to luck or master strategy, the Golden Knights have carved out a place in NHL history that cannot be denied. The Future is Bright Despite falling just short of the ultimate prize in the 2017-2018 season, the Golden Knights have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the NHL. With a solid foundation of dedicated players and a winning mentality, the team is poised for continued success in the future. FAQs 1. Was the Golden Knights' success a fluke? - While luck may have played a role in the team's run, the Golden Knights' success was primarily due to a combination of skill, strategy, and dedication. 2. How did the expansion draft impact the Golden Knights' success? - The expansion draft provided the Golden Knights with a pool of quality players to choose from, which helped to fill gaps in the team's roster and create a winning team chemistry. 3. What was the coaching philosophy behind the Golden Knights' success? - Head Coach Gerard Gallant focused on building team chemistry and instilling a winning mentality within the team. His hands-on approach and commitment to excellence were instrumental in the team's success. 4. How did the Golden Knights connect with the Las Vegas community? - The team's commitment to giving back to the community helped to foster a sense of unity and pride among fans. Their active involvement in the community both on and off the ice played a crucial role in the team's popularity and success. 5. What does the future hold for the Golden Knights? - With a solid foundation of dedicated players and a winning mentality, the Golden Knights are poised for continued success in the future. The team's impressive run in their inaugural season has set the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come. #NEWS Read the full article

Secret Sisters (Emily Sonnett x Reader)
Tumblr media
Anonymous Request: Could you do an Emily x reader where R is Tobin's sister but no-one knows (except for Emily) and the team thinks R is cheating on Em with Toby because you know sisters bonding time and you know Chaos and Disaster ensures?
“Em, how are you holding up?” Lindsey asks with a frown and her brows furrow.
“Ummmm, just fine.” She says, confused and Lindsey glances at Mallory, the forward frowning.
“Look, we’ve noticed Y/N has been spending so much time with Tobin lately, we just wanted to check on you.”
Emily shakes her head, remembering the promise she’d made to you when you got together.
“Well, I’m fine.” She grins, the two again sharing a glance.
“Well, we’re here for you, whatever you need.”
The two take their leave and Emily takes a deep breath.
She had noticed you’d been spending more and more time with Tobin, but only she and a select few on the team knew why.
You were Tobin’s sister, adopted-sister, the two of you wanting to keep it under wraps, well mostly you because you didn’t want anything given to you because you were Tobin Heath's sister, you knew it was; how younger siblings got lost in the mix and you didn’t want to be JUST Tobin Heath’s little sister.
Though, it was kept under wraps, that didn’t mean the two of you spent any less time together.
The media had started to talk, noting the way you’d spend more and more time with Tobin, the paparazzi quick to make assumptions about the relationship between the two of you.
Emily was one of a chosen few that knew you were Tobin’s adopted sister, the two of you meeting when you were younger.
You were her younger brother’s best friend, the boy always coming home with you from school.
The more you came over, the closer you got with the entire Heath family, up until the day the secret you’d been hiding for so long was revealed.
Tobin and her family knew your home life wasn’t the best, but when your parents were arrested for abuse, they were first in line to take you in, eventually adopting you, something you would never be able to repay them for.
Thus, you became Y/N Heath, though you’d decided to keep your last name, wanting to stay under the radar.
Being a Heath in the WNT soccer industry came with pretty big shoes to fill, and the last thing you wanted was to be given opportunities just because you were a Heath.
Only two people on the USWNT knew about the real relationship between you and Tobin, and that was Christen Press and of course Emily Sonnett.
Christen, because she and Tobin were literally attached at the hip, and Emily, because it wasn’t like you could really hide from your girlfriend that you weren’t just Tobin’s friend, but her family.
“Hey.”
Emily jumps, smiling when she realizes you’re standing beside her, a warm smile on your face as you flop down onto the ground beside her.
“Hey.” She grins, pressing a kiss to your cheek and you beam, your cheeks pink. Your eyes narrow as you look at the blonde, humming.
“What’s wrong?”
Emily scoffs.
“What do you mean?”
You hum, your eyes narrowing further as you lean closer to her.
“Stop being a weirdo.” She giggles as you keep leaning towards her until your nose is pressing against her cheek.
“Something is bothering you, I can tell.”
Emily rolls her hazel orbs, her own eyes narrowing.
“Really? How can you tell?”
You cup her cheek.
“Your eyes shine less when something is bothering you.”
Emily’s eyes widen, the woman’s cheeks flushing bright red.
“It’s just...” Emily sighs, glancing around the field. “We’ll talk about it when we get back, okay?” She says and you nod, swallowing hard, wondering what could be bothering her so much.
                                                            ***
You sigh, staring down at your phone at another article questioning the relationship between you and Tobin.
Out of the corner of your eye you see Emily reading the same article, a frown on her face.
You briefly wondered if that was what was bothering her, but you knew, deep down that it was.
The media had been relentless lately in their examination of your and Tobin’s relationship, some even questioning if you were cheating on the blonde with the older forward, but it was far from that.
You’d even noticed some side eyed glances from your teammates, they too questioning the relationship between you and Tobin.
Just in that moment you pick your head up, seeing Kelley’s narrowed eyes on you.
Your head hangs in shame, a frown on your face, that is until Emily leans against you, resting her head on your shoulder.
You smile softly, your heart aching in your chest.
Maybe it was time to tell everyone the truth, that you were Tobin Heath’s sister.
                                                            ***
“We need to talk.” You mumble, shuffling nervously back and forth as your eyes dart from Tobin, to Christen and back.
“What’s wrong kid?” Tobin asks and you sigh, realizing a number of the team’s eyes are on you, the women whispering among themselves.
Emily walks up, taking your hand and you frown.
“Can we do this in private?” You ask and Tobin nods, frowning sadly.
“Of course, whatever you want.”
The four of you move towards the elevators, remaining completely silent, Emily’s hand in yours.
You keep your head down, the three women noting the change in your behavior, they all knew that the articles were weighting heavily on you, the whispers among your teammates getting to you most of all.
Christen ushers you and the others into her and Tobin’s hotel room, the second the door shuts behind her you burst into tears, Tobin and Emily wrapping their arms tightly around you.
“We have to tell them.”
Tobin’s eyes widen as she cups your cheeks, ridding your cheeks of tears with the pads of her thumbs.
“Hey... Sh. Sh. Sh. It’s okay.” Tobin kisses your forehead and you shake your head.
“Everyone thinks I’m this monster, and I’m cheating on Em, even our teammates look at me funny... I can’t... I just-
Tobin rests her forehead against yours.
“We love you Y/N, and whatever you want to do, we’ll do.”
You sniffle, leaning against Emily, the woman whispering sweet assurances in your ear.
Christen too joins the fray, wrapping her arms around the three of you from behind.
“We’re here for you Y/N.” She whispers and you nod, turning to Emily who gives you a smile, her hazel orbs full of tears as she leans in to press a kiss to your lips.
“I’ll be by your side, no matter what. I love you.” She whispers against your lips and you smile.
“I love you too... And if it’s alright with you guys... I’m ready.”
Tobin nods, glancing at Christen and Emily, earning nods from the two of them before she turns back to you with a grin.
“Of course, it is.”
“We’re behind you Y/N.”
“No matter what.”
                                                            ***
Vlatko claps his hands together, gathering the attention of your teammates who all make their way towards the benches, flopping down on top of it, the others sitting on the ground around it.
“Now I understand, Y/N, Emily and Tobin have something they’d like to say.”
Everyone’s eyes widen as the three of you move to stand in front of them, your and Emily’s fingers intertwined, your knuckles white considering you’re holding her hand so tightly.
You take a deep breath, glancing at Tobin, the woman smiling softly.
“I’m sure you’ve all seen the articles talking about the relationship between Y/N and I...” Tobin takes a deep breath and you swallow hard.
“And we decided it was time to come clean... About what we were hiding.”
Everyone leans forwards, hanging on your and Tobin’s every word.
“Y/N grew up with my little brother, they were best friends and still are...” Tobin slips an arm around you.
“Life didn’t... I wasn’t given the best parents in the world, and when they were arrested, the Heath’s were the first to step up and want to take me in.”
Kelley’s brown orbs widen.
“Wait...”
You shrug, sighing.
“Tobin and I are sisters, I just didn’t want anyone knowing because I wanted to make my own path, I didn’t want to be known as Tobin Heath’s adopted little sister...” You shuffle nervously from foot to foot, Emily leaning towards you to press a kiss to your cheek.
“So, all the time you’ve been spending together...” Lindsey starts, Mallory’s brown orbs wide.
“Was sister bonding time?” She squeaks, you and Tobin both nodding.
The entire team stares at the three of you, wide eyed, their mouths opening and closing a few times as they try to find the words they’re searching for.
“And we thought you were cheating the whole time, we’re so sorry Y/N.” Julie frowns, her head hanging in shame.
“Yeah, you and everyone else.” Emily grumbles and you smile, giving her a nudge.
“We’re so sorry Y/N.” Alex frowns.
“We should’ve just asked instead of assuming, we’re a family.” Becky moves to her feet, wrapping her arms around you, the others following suit, besides Kelley, the woman’s brown orbs wide.
“You alright Worm??” Alex snorts and the defender huffs.
“So that’s why your mom liked Y/N better than me...” The defender pouts and you bark out a laugh.
You grunt when she practically leaps on you, wrapping her arms tightly around you.
“I’m sorry Y/N, I was just worried about Son, and...”
You give her a tight squeeze, the woman grunting.
“It’s alright, I understand.”
Everyone pulls apart, all chattering softly before Ashlyn screeches.
“WAIT.”
You all jump, turning to the goalie, her eyes narrowed.
“How the hell do you hide a sibling these days!?” She asks and you snicker, glancing at Tobin.
“Very. VERY carefully.”
“WAIT.” Kelley yells this time, everyone turning to her.
“YOU KNEW!?” Kelley yells, pointing at her offspring, the woman grinning apologetically.
“Maybe?”
“AND IF EMILY KNEW THERE’S NO WAY CHRISTEN DIDN’T KNOW.” Megan points to the forward, the woman shrugging.
“Maybe.”
Kelley growls.
“You let me try to win your mom over when you knew she’d always love Y/N over me!” The defender pouts and you smile, wrapping your arms around her.
“Well, I love you Kel.” You beam and the defender rolls her eyes, grinning.
“I love you too.”
                                                            ***
The news broke later that same day, the two of you making a lengthy post, posting pictures of you and the rest of Tobin’s family together when you were first officially adopted to you most recent photo with the entire Heath crew.
The two of you thoug,h decided to recreate an old photo, where you were hanging off Tobin’s back, the little girl grinning, widely as you rested your chin on the top of her head, smiling just as wide, but it was the next photo recreation that the fans enjoyed the most, you and Tobin wrestling on the ground, the older woman in a headlock as you grinned.
Emily giggles, leaning her head against your shoulder.
“That one’s my favorite.” She nods to the picture and you grin, a huff causing you both to turn around, Tobin’s bottom lip jutted out in a pout.
“Not mine.”
“You were just mad because I was kicking your ass.”
Tobin growls, everyone turning to her eyes wide.
“Is that a challenge?” She asks and you smirk.
“Uh oh.” Christen mumbles as Tobin literally tackles you, the two of you falling to the turf, fans and opponents alike watching as the two of you roll around, playfully fighting one another.
“TEN BUCKS ON Y/N!” Kelley yells and Alex snorts.
“Sorry Y/N, I’m going with Tobe on this one.”
Emily leans against Christen, shaking her head as she watches her girlfriend play fighting with her older sister, eventually getting her into a choke hold, something Emily is quick to snap a picture of, the blonde grinning.
“Some things never change.”
“PAY UP JAN.” Kelley screams and Alex grumbles.
“I misplaced my wallet.”
“Bullshi-
Alex pulls the defender into a choke hold, the woman’s cheeks flushing as the two wrestle.
“Hey.”
Emily leans in, pressing a kiss to your lips, your smile splitting into a grin as Emily shows you the picture she’d taken.
“More proof I totally kicked Tobin’s ass.” You smirk, winking.
You wrap your arms around Emily, pressing another kiss to her lips.
“I love you Em. Thank you for being there for me...” You whisper, cheeks flushing. “Through everything.”
Emily grins.
“I’ll be here for you always.”
“Ew.”
You turn, glaring at Tobin, the woman sticking her tongue out before she runs away, you chasing after her.
Emily turns towards Christen, the forward watching as Kelley and Alex still wrestle, Ashlyn egging it on while Ali stands beside her, shaking her head, pinching the bridge of her nose.
You eventually tackle Tobin down, the two of you again rolling around on the ground, playfully fighting like you had growing up.
“Again?” Christen shakes her head, leaning towards Emily, the blonde giggling.
“Somethings never change.”

I know you just did a post on Joan but can I get more of Logan/ Joan interaction? Joan's reaction to seeing Logan struggling? I love their parental dynamic with him!!!
these two get me right in my emotions
tws: abuse mention, allusion to enbyphobia, medication mention
Pre-Concussion
Joan, like many of Logan’s teammates, heaps a stupid amount of praise on their starting goaltender whenever asked to interview. they’re incredibly proud of themselves for scouting Logan, incredibly proud of Logan for being such a steady presence on AND off of the ice, and they make sure that the press knows it at any given opportunity.
actually, Joan was among the first of the Aces staff to publicly acknowledge Logan’s skill; even when Logan was actively fighting with Roman, Joan wasn’t afraid to speak up on his behalf, which was something that Logan found to be slightly overwhelming and deeply touching all at once
whereas Coach Thomas hesitates to call the players his children in worries that the university administration will take exception, Joan has No Such Qualms. catch them telling the opposing team manager that “my son is going to kick your entire team’s ass,” fully in reference to Logan
Joan, talking to the team during intermission: okay, focus up, you little monsters! not you, Logan. you’re an angel, and we’re thrilled you’re here.
Logan Can, Should, Must and Will offer to absolutely demolish anyone who refuses to respect Joan’s pronouns (and YES, that includes some Aces fans as well)
Joan once joked that Logan and themselves should wear matching ties to one of the Aces interview panels, but Jokes On Them because Logan took it seriously and procured some matching ties the next time he went shopping. (Logan got one for Remy, too; he figured it would be a fun little Goalie Thing)
one of Logan’s favorite study spots is actually an armchair in Joan’s “office” (which is really little more than a glorified supply closet). Logan likes to hunker down and read in silence while Joan goes through the team paperwork. Joan appreciates Logan’s company, especially because they know that Logan won’t tell Coach Thomas how much they grumble about him while filling out the forms. (not like it isn’t anything they haven’t said directly to Thomas before, but still.)
Post-Concussion
Joan’s reaction to seeing Logan struggling in the wake of his concussion is... rough, to say in a word. although Coach Thomas is much more vocal about his grief, Joan suffers just as much (if not more-so, given the close relationship that they had with Logan prior to his injury); however, they recognize that it would be detrimental to everyone on the team if both Thomas and themselves fell apart at the same time, so they end up overcompensating by trying to act like nothing is wrong at all
but everything is wrong, and they know it. they know it, because when they watched over Logan in the two weeks following his concussion, Logan spent the entire time either fast asleep or actively sobbing, apologizing for something that Joan couldn’t even understand through the tears.
they know it because Logan will hardly look at them now -- has stopped offering his dry commentary and stopped trying to find workarounds for Joan’s rules, instead opting to duck his head in quiet resignation, much too formal and polite as he answers Joan’s questions about how he’s doing, how he’s feeling, what does he think he’ll do from here?
they know it because, when Logan talks to them, he apologizes constantly: for being injured. for being “useless.” for being “an inconvenience” -- and that’s ridiculous, who taught him that, who told him that his worth was somehow explicitly tied for the function that he can serve for other people?
(Joan knows the answer, and it crushes them)
(there were so many signs -- so, so many signs, in retrospect -- and they missed all of them. how are they supposed to forgive themselves now?)
the worst part of all is that they don’t know what to do about it. about any of it. they want Logan to feel better, but the migraines are out of Joan’s control. all they can do is gently coax Logan into taking his painkillers, hope that the pills can offer any sort of reprieve from the pain that he must be in as helpless guilt rips its way straight through their chest
and they want to know more about Logan’s past -- of course they do, why wouldn’t they -- but at the same time, they know that having the answers won’t change a thing.
Logan’s already an adult, and his parents are over a thousand miles away. there is no legal action to be taken. there is no fix-it to the problem at hand. Thomas insists on pushing Logan to talk, but Joan worries that it’s only going to stress him out -- they worry that it’s going to set him back or scare him away -- and with what he’s going through, that is the last thing that Logan needs
so Joan offers help where they can. they keep conversations light and search for any signs of the fiery, sarcastic little goaltender that they’ve come to know over the last year and a half.
and Logan? Logan retreats further and further into himself, closing himself off despite Joan’s best efforts

ok so like. here’s my harry potter house thing. i’m ngl i tried to do this but then i deleted it bc it was getting too long and i didn’t have the attention span but. it kept sticking in my brain so i decided to pick it back up and as such, i’ve lost the original post but it was a quarantine activity (sort drivers into houses, assign quidditch positions, explain) posted by @verstappened. houses done first, then positions, then explanations for both. i tried to make feasible teams, i.e making sure there arent too many of a single position per house, so this really screwed some of the sorting but oh well.
i did the houses first, then positions, then explanations in that order for the most part.
5/13/20: the sorting was mostly done before i heard all the differing opinions (of which there were many!)
5/19/20: alright so this is literally like 2 months old but i’ve just finished it lolol
Lewis Hamilton:
Slytherin: THE GLORY MAN. the aloof kind of superiority, confidence, is top dog, he’s simply the pinnacle of it all. kind of lethal and doesn’t do the whole ‘looking up to others’ things (outwardly, but he seems very soft on the inside tbh). very majestic and is almost a gryffindor, the kind of slytherin that Merlin is. hard-working, got here from incredibly humble beginnings, which kind of stands out from the rest, but he’s clearly now at the top level of society. still very protective of Others. scarily ambitious. Was originally a gryffindor but I wanted the brits to be in different houses for their quidditch positions to work. Could honestly go either way though.
Seeker: more glory. periodt. he stays winning and scoring the most points. clutch-man. Speedy boy, kind of in a different world than everyone else when competing (he’s always at the front lifetimes away from everyone else lmao. playing a diff game.)
Valtteri Bottas:
Hufflepuff: HE SEEMS. LIKE. A. BIG. CHILD. always relegated and brushed off but is literally God-Tier and no one can convince me otherwise. i consider him to be rather reliable (reflecting only the 2019 season at least lmao). a bit of a vindictive streak bc he knows what he’s Capable Of even when others underestimate him. has a very bright smile.
Beater: have u seen him. he’s a big boy even though he’s 5′8 and only an inch taller than lando norris he seems bigger than he is ok
Charles Leclerc:
Slytherin: this bitch. what a snake. hiss hiss.
Chaser: he wants what lewis hamilton has but chose the wrong position. still a star in his own right. pride and joy of his house, will be at the lead of every formation play unless told otherwise by his head of house, to which he will brood and complain ab but comply in the end bc he wants Team Success and loyalty to his Family. scores the most points on the team and people act like he carries even though he literally has a partner(s).
ok but fr my gut said charles is a slytherin (do i really need to explain why? very critical, doesn’t accept inferiority, somehow succeeds. just a feeling his brain seems to fit motorsport politics well), but i was seriously contemplating whether he’d be a gryffindor to max’s slytherin instead. but then i saw someone mention the whole lion schtick and i was like for all of max’s brattiness he is Gryffindor so sharl is snake. sorry don’t make the rules just follow them.
further edit: this was written before he started streaming (this is how old this draft is) and can u believe him he’s the epitome of the “not all slytherins r evil wenches” idea
Sebastian Vettel:
Ravenclaw: idk for all of Seb’s goofiness he just seems cerebral to me. Seems to know mildly irrelevant facts and is really quite smart however is hopeless in the modern age. Kind of that wise old(er he’s not that old) man knowledge. I’d trust him to give me all the life advice I need but also to write a 10 page essay on the nuances of the effect of emotion on verbal language (which we all know he is very experienced with).
Keeper: it’s the protective Dad Power.
Max Verstappen:
Gryffindor: WAS REALLY GONNA PUT HIM IN SLYTHERIN BC HE’S A NASTY LIL SHIT. TOTAL BRAT. GIVES FUCK ALL WHAT OTHERS SAY. BUT HE IS LION AND LION IS HE SO GRYFFINDOR IT IS. also just bc he needs to oppose sharl in every way possible it’s called Poetic Cinema. also his driving style is clearly the bravery and confidence to the point of recklessness that is prevalent among gryffindors.
Chaser: again, he must oppose Charles. so, not a seeker although he’s clearly singularly the most prized competitor. just like Charles, pride and joy of house, their star chaser. the comparisons never end. the competition never ends. the fighting never ends. one of the most interesting and dynamic performers to watch, is predictable in that he’s not predictable except that he will always be aggro to the max. will always be in trouble for getting rough bc that’s Not His Job but that’s just the gryffindor disregard for rules. master point scorer.
Alex Albon:
Gryffindor: was really a toss up btwn this and Hufflepuff but the ultimate deciding factor was the fact that I wanted all the British Boys to be seekers. he really just sticks it out as max’s teammate like a real one (nothing against max, everything against Helmet Merco) for the good of the team, still is sweet with max anyway. fitting that they’re in the same house too.
Seeker: he’s not the small boy that lando and lewis are but he is (thai/)British. very special boy (big ups on the promotion even tho it was Sad Times for Pear) deserves very special job. also he has a hot girlfriend (alex albon who i only know lily he’s boy toy) idk how that’s relevant but it seems fitting.
Carlos Sainz:
Ravenclaw: bc he’s a spaniard but is still better at english than Lando (i think everyone is tbh). Seems to be a quiet type of smart, sensible, but perhaps this is just the consequence of being compared to Lanno at all times LMAO (no hate all love bby Lannd). would be the type of ravenclaw to follow his friends on absolutely idiotic ventures but would step in to prevent near death or likely-legal-problem causing actions (and only then; otherwise it’s every man for themselves and everyone is free to make a fool of themselves and break some laws. carlos may dabble in such practices.)
Chaser: seems to be a go-getter, not going for points doesn’t even cross his mind. will always be the one driving up the pitch, the strategist of sorts bc he seems big(ger) brain (than lando lololol).
Edit: I wrote this part ab him long ago but this entire section of this post is now irrelevant and canceled.
Lando Norris:
Hufflepuff: you all know why. zero explanation needed. like, none.
also has a bit of an aggressive streak which tends to catch ppl off guard. is not afraid to confront u (hello pageNO) and at times defies the hufflepuff stereotype of being perpetually happy go-lucky (he has his bad days!). but when with His True Crew he is absolutely a hufflepuff ball of energy.
Seeker: small and speedy. energetic to the max. small. quirky and different from the rest, so he gets the special job. small. everyone would kill to protect him. small.
Daniel Ricciardo:
Gryffindor: AW I DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE THAT I PUT HIM AND MAX TOGETHER. LOOK I EVEN MADE THEM BOTH CHASERS. AH HOW BIGBRAIN MY MIND IS. everything ab dan is gold. golden skin, the colors in redbull and renault, his smile, just the vibes. he’s just got the enthusiasm and charisma and this intensity of a gryffindor. super aggressive, his late breaking (from his rbr at least) is legendary and maddening with how he pulls it off. is almost a hufflepuff but the gut said no.
Chaser: is Max’s teammate. so yeah. was obviously the star until younger max came to the show. a bit lost in limbo bc of it but they still work well together.
literally want to make him a hufflepuff so. bad. but i couldn’t split up maxiel. also his vibe is just different from other ‘puffs like stroll so.
Esteban Ocon:
Slytherin: ask max.
Chaser: being characterized off of their relationship with max seems to be a theme here. will go head to head with max w/ absolutely zero shits given. talented, but the rivalry with max is entirely secondary to charles imho. still yet to show his full potential but is still quietly a thorn in max’s side. many are interested to see what he is able to do in the immediate future.
Pierre Gasly:
Hufflepuff: GUYS HE WANTS TO OWN A PANDA
Chaser: constantly trying to prove himself and score big boy points. had a stint as seeker until lando came along. did not do as well as ppl had hoped, returned to chaser and proceeded to crush it from there. praticed a lot with charles as children (the friendship dynamic w/ their houses was definitely unforseen but is amazing).
Daniil Kvyat:
Hufflepuff: really wanted to make him a slytherin but the quidditch positions didn’t work out. firmly believe this works though. more of the rough and tumble type, definitely the kind that will sock u in the nose if u write off hufflepuffs as a joke. could honestly probably be a gryffindor too with how unapologetically aggressive he can be in the name of His Beliefs. gives me big dumb himbo vibes now that i think ab it tbh which is mostly the justification here. also he has a child omg.
Chaser: but the one that’s always headbutting bludgers out of the air (torpedo bitches). also had a stint as seeker before but it Was Not His Thing. he’d much rather be chasing and throwing things than seeking things. also he’s pierre’s mate :,) would’ve been a beater but romain and valtteri will not be anything else so daniil took the boot whoops.
Sergio Perez:
Slytherin: it’s just the vibe. knows his weaknesses and is able to make up for it with his confidence and talent in his strengths. very ambitious, plays the right cards at the right times to get the right results. something ab him puts me on edge, but like in a good way; i feel like there’s always a trump card up his sleeve, like when he gets to q3 out of fucking nowhere in a racing point.
Keeper: he gives me the same vibes as seb idk what it is. very dependable, backbone of his team.
Lance Stroll:
Hufflepuff: guys have u seen the guy. he’s just here to have a good time. may seem a bit airheaded at times but he means well 99% of the time. untapped potential. seems like a no thoughts head empty canadian hockey boy (and every one of these types is a hufflepuff don’t fight it); may or may not be the only accurate description of him.
Chaser: he’s just trying his best out here. i
KEEPER?: SO I DID A QUICK GOOGLE AND HE USED TO BE A HOCKEY
GOALIE?????
so scratch my initial thoughts (tbh i didn’t really know where to put him and i originally had romain as keeper but that’s an issue to fix later on now) BECAUSE LANCE STROLL IS A keeper GOALIE AND NO ONE CAN REFUTE THIS. ABSOLUTELY NO HUMAN OF THIS EARTH. WHAT GLORIOUS INFORMATION TO STUMBLE ACROSS.
Kimi Raikkonen:
Slytherin: guys i really don’t have an in depth analysis of this but i don’t think iceman needs one.
Beater: see above^. y’all must get the vibe.
tbh could also be a keeper tho similar energies to seb and checo, but honestly his no fucks given attitude is ultimately what swayed me
Antonio Giovinazzi:
Gryffindor: he just has that majestic quality (that could also fit a slytherin but i only see red when i see antonio). look at that lion’s mane. also he’s one of kimi’s to paddock friends? seems fitting that he’s a gryffindor to kimi’s slytherin.
Chaser: plays second fiddle to the duo that is max and daniel, often regulated to vibing on the side. but he’s there and he’s important and he has potential (i’ve been seeing ppl talking ab a ferrari move and i’m positively shaken). [edit: again, this post is old.]
im sorry its glaringly obvious idk much about him asdfjasldkd
Kevin Magnussen:
Slytherin: guys lots of these are just self explanatory sorry if i seem like im taking the cheap way out but it’s fact. brundle and crofty call him a great white shark for crying out loud.
Beater: unapologetically chaotic. lurking around the edges making people feel hunted. spends more time playing baseball in the middle of the matches than quidditch and sometimes it backfires but it’s good fun and it sometimes works.
Romain Grosjean:
Hufflepuff: y’all he’s such dad energy and he likes to cook. gets written off a lot but he actually cares (he’s a part of the grand prix drivers assoc.!). he seems so wholesome and he spends time with his kids and their school work when he can do u feel those water drops yeah those r my tears.
Beater: i really wanted to make him a slytherin beater to make him teammates with k-mag but he’s just. not a slytherin. but i kept the beater part. spends the majority of the hufflepuff v. slytherin matches sending bludgers kevin’s way even when he doesn’t mean to. it’s always reciprocated.
George Russell:
Ravenclaw: I’VE SAID IT BEFORE AND I’LL SAY IT AGAIN THIS KID. is so marvelously well spoken and he just has such a simple yet effective way with words. he knows what’s reasonable to expect but never fails to expect the most that he can given his circumstances. again, mentioned this before but a lot of it is his accent. the glottal stop is a historically stereotypically rural (i.e. “uneducated”) thing but I’m American and I Don’t Listen to the Rules, so the accent just makes him seem so sophisticated to me especially when he’s saying things like “horriiiiiiiific” and presenting his hefty powerpoints.
Seeker: my British Boys Are Seekers headcanon continues. definitely a Golden Boy of the team kind of guy (hello tragic dumpsterfire that is williams :/ ).
Nicholas Latifi:
Hufflepuff: same boat as lance. his twitch streams are so wholesome he’s just chilling man. twitter made me write him off as daft and unnecessary at first but like fuck twitter i’m all here for ninky latvia now.
Chaser: lowkey gives me keeper vibes as well? the sensible, level-headedness. but obvs that’s lance so chaser it is. still the level-headedness that helps him hold down the fort btwn pierre and daniil who can tend to get a bit imaginative, and also the energies of them + lando.
5/19/20: so it’s quite clear to me that i grew tired of brain functions the more time i took on this and the later ones are a bit lacking and for that i’m very sorry. that being said i’m still happy to see this finished bc the idea was VERY exciting for me.

PREVIEW: HARTFORD WOLF PACK GO HUNTING FOR HERSHEY BEARS
Tumblr media
By Gerry  Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - The Hartford Wolf Pack are among the final eight AHL teams still playing in May. What seemed improbable seven weeks ago has become reality. Trade deadline moves and an incredible streak of winning 15 of their last 18 games have brought them to this place in the season. They knocked off the Springfield Thunderbirds in the first round. They followed that up by eliminating the Providence Bruins in four games in the second round, despite finishing 17 points behind them in the regular season. That puts the Pack on a collision course in the Division Finals with the Hershey Bears, who finished the regular season 16 points ahead of them. Pack Head Coach Kris Knoblauch knows the tall order that lies in front of them. “(They’re) a big strong team. Outstanding defensively; don’t give you much room,. That’s in part because of their defense. They have some players who can score goals. Their team specialties (powerplay and penalty kill) are very good. We're just gonna have to find a way to the net,“ He said. Hershey's physical height is plentiful. The Bears are led by their captain, the 6'5 defenseman and ex-Pack, Dylan McIlrath. McIlrath was much maligned when he was a member of the Wolf Pack. He played on the last Pack playoff team eight years ago. Ironically, that year, they eliminated Hershey. Joining McIlrath is Aliaksei Protas at 6’6, Gabriel Carlsson at 6’5, Vincent Iorio at 6’3, and Benton Maass, who's 6’2. Their two in-house goalies include the 6’4 Clay Stevenson and the 6'3 Garin Bjorklund. Bjorklund was recalled when the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) were eliminated from the Kelly Cup playoffs. It's possible that the 6’2 Zach Furcale will need to be dealt with all over the ice as well. The Bears have eight players who are 6’2 and taller. Casey Shepard will likely start in the net for the Bears. In terms of height, the Pack can counter with the 6’8 Matt Rempe and the 6’6 Adam Edström. PRODUCTION While during the regular season, no Wolf Pack player was anywhere near the top in player production categories. Now, in the postseason, the Pack finds themselves all over the stat sheet as the Atlantic Division final begins. Leading the way for the New York Rangers AHL affiliates is goaltender Dylan Garand who has a 5-1 with a 1.17 GAA, tops in the AHL. He also is at the top of the production sheet for netminders with two shutouts. He will likely start. In the plus/minus department, Ty Emberson is atop the AHL charts at plus-13. In second place in that category is Anton Blidh at plus-11. In assists, Lauri Pajuniemi is fifth-best in the league with eight. Tim Gettinger and Tanner Fritz find themselves in the Top Ten in scoring with seven points each. The Pack also has two of the top three leaders in PIMs. Adam Clendening and Will Lockwood. The top shot producer is Zac Jones. He's tied at 21. A team with a championship mindset expects to be playing its best and most productive hockey in the playoffs. The Wolf Pack are undoubtedly not only the best they've been all season, but you could also argue they're the best they've been in eight years. NOTES: The Rangers did some organizational housekeeping before leaving Tuesday to head to Hershey for Thursday’s series opener. They released from ATO and PTO deals 18-year-olds Bryce McConnell-Barker, who didn’t play, and Adam Sýkora, who played two regular season games and two playoff games. Sýkora might be added to the Slovakia World Championship team when the IIHF tourney starts May 12th running through May 29th. It's a 16-country tournament and will be played this year in Tampere, Finland, Pajuniemi's hometown. They will also play in Riga, Latvia. The team also sent home Maxim Barbashev and Ryder Korczak. When the Peterborough Petes earned a 3-2 victory in Game 7 on Monday night over the North Bay Battalion, it guaranteed that Brennan Othmann will not be coming to Hart City this spring. Othmann had the game-tying goal in the game, and in Game 6 had the tying goal and an assist on the game-winner. The Petes will also play for the John Ross Robertson OHL championship against the London Knights, coached by Dale Hunter, starting on Thursday. The Petes also feature Chase Stillman, grandson of former New Haven Knights and Springfield Indians' alum Bud Stefanski. A Memorial Cup berth for the tournament will be played in Kamloops, BC, at the Sandman Centre from Friday, May 26th, until Sunday, June 4th. That's where Garand spent his junior career. The Cup will be awarded to the winner. The Winnipeg Ice (WHL), coached by former Ranger/Whaler James Patrick, along with Easton Armstrong, the son of former Wolf Pack, Derek Armstrong, will be playing for the WHL Championship. They will have their home games (the first two) starting Friday at the Life Canada Centre, home of the NHL Winnipeg Jets against the Seattle Thunderbirds, Rempe's former junior team, that won 4-2 on Monday over the Kamloops Blazers, who still make the tournament as the host team. Lane Sim, the son of ex-Sound Tiger Jon Sim, was drafted by the OHL Sarnia Sting in the OHL Priority Draft a few weeks ago. He played for Weeks U-18 (NSMHL) in Nova Scotia. The WHL Bantam Draft is on Thursday. May 11th. Players from the two Western Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta and the three Western territories - the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and the Yukon - are eligible. The US states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming are eligible to be selected. The QMJHL Draft is on June 10th at the Palais des Sports in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The draft is divided into two separate drafts. In the first portion, the selections are primarily for kids from the Province of Quebec, the Canadian Maritimes, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island-PEI, and Newfoundland. Occasionally, a small number of New England players get taken. A separate US Draft will be held afterward, comprising Northeastern US states Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont are taken. Any US-born player who plays a second of major junior hockey is NCAA ineligible. Players from European countries, excluding Russia and Belarus, are taken in the CHL Import Draft in which all Canadian major junior teams participate. It will be held a week after the NHL Draft on July 5th. Usually, the top slots are taken by NHL draftees. Now former Wolf Pack’s Adam Sýkora was taken first overall by Medicine Hat (WHL) last year but elected to stay in Slovakia instead. The USHL Phase I Futures Draft and Phase II General Draft were completed a week ago. In Phase I, Mason Kraft, the son of ex-Sound Tiger Ryan Kraft, was selected in the fourth round (48th overall) by the Sioux Falls (SD) Stampede out of Moorhead HS (MN). In Phase II, Sioux Falls also chose Anthony Bongo (Ridgefield) from the Mid-Fairfield U-15 squad in the second round (18th overall). In the third round (33rd overall), Matej Teply (Stamford) was chosen. He played for the Selects Academy program at South Kent Prep. He was selected by the Chicago (Ill.) Steel. In the fifth round (63rd overall), Ronan Buckberger, the youngest son of former Beast of New Haven Ashley Buckberger, was selected by the Madison (WI) Capitols out of the Saskatoon U-18 (SMHL) program. Two years ago, he was selected by Swift Current (WHL). Taft’s (Watertown) top-flight goalie Rudy Guimond (Yale -ECACHL commit), from Pointe-Claire, Quebec, was selected by the Cedar Rapids (IA) Roughriders. He was taken in the fifth round (69th overall). Tate Pecknold (Southport), the son of Quinnipiac University (ECACHL) head coach of the defending national champion Bobcats, Rand Pecknold, was taken in the 13th round (185th overall) by the Omaha (NE) Lancers. This season, he transferred from Avon Old Farms (CT) to St. George’s (RI). Lastly, Jackson Potulny, the nephew of ex-Pack Ryan Potulny, was taken in the 13th round (197th overall) by the Chicago Steel. He was selected from the U-18 team from the successful Minnesota program at Shattuck’s St. Mary’s (NAPHL). Back in the AHL, the North Division final pits the Toronto Marlies against the Rochester Americans. The Marlies feature Quinnipiac University (ECACHL) goalie Keith Petruzzelli, who won against the Wolf Pack in April. They may get some players from around the corner if Florida eliminates the parent Toronto Maple Leafs. Rochester features Michael Mersch, the son of late New Haven Nighthawk Mike Mersch and ex-Bridgeport Sound Tiger Mason Jobst. The Hartford-Hershey tilt winner will play the North Division series winner for the Eastern Conference crown. Out west, two of the newest AHL teams, the Calgary Wranglers and Coachella Valley Firebirds, will square off. Player-wise, Calgary has former Rangers Kevin Rooney and Dryden Hunt. They also have Nick DeSimone (CT Oilers-EHL) and ex-UCONN (HE) defenseman Yan Kuznetsov. Behind the bench as one of the assistant coaches is former Whaler, New Haven Nighthawk, and Springfield Indian Don Nachbaur. The goalie coach is ex-Pack Mackenzie Skapski and AHL coach of the Year for two years in a row, Mitch Love. The Firebirds have former Quinnipiac University defenseman Brogan Rafferty. The Texas (Austin) Stars in the Central Division have just one Connecticut connection in GM Scott White, a one-time New Haven Senator. The Stars will tangle with the Milwaukee Admirals, who received nine players from the parent Nashville Predators. They feature recently acquired at the trade deadline from Hartford, Austin Rueschhoff, and ex-Pack captain and former UCONN (AHA years) player Cole Schneider. Also on the roster is Luke Evangelista, a second cousin to former Whaler Brendan Shanahan. The winners of those two series will battle for the Western Conference championship. The Charlotte Checkers released Mackie Samoskevitch (Sandy Hook) and Skylar Brind’Amour (Quinnipiac University) from their PTO and ATO deals. Charlie Risk of the NCAA Division III Independent, Albertus Magnus College (New Haven), signs with Mont Blanc (France-FFHG Division-2). HARTFORD WOLF PACK HOME Read the full article

ON THE NAIL! - Hitting the Road with a 6-3 Record
Tumblr media
The Nailers went 1-2 over the weekend against the second-best team in the entire league, the Idaho Steelheads.  What do you think the Nailers did well in that series, and what in that series showed you where the Nailers still need to improve in order to be considered among the league's best like their opponent? Well, that was bound to happen, especially when you run into a buzzsaw of a team that’s currently battling for the top spot in the entire league.  It really did feel like, despite the scores of the two losses, the Nailers were in each game and could’ve just as easily won two of the games in that series, instead of being on the losing end for the weekend.  In their two losses, Wheeling had a 2-0 lead on Friday, and managed to tie the game on Sunday more than halfway through the second period before Idaho poured it on. In Friday’s game, Wheeling did what they’ve done a number of times this year and scored quickly, with Dillon Hamaliuk scoring just six minutes in.  Last week, I noticed how they struggled to maintain leads when they did that so far this year, but they managed to keep it into the second, where they scored only 10 seconds into the period to extend it to a 2-0 Nailers lead.  From there, Idaho finally got into the swing of the game, scoring the last five goals of the game, including two on the power play, to take the first game of the series by a 5-2 final. Saturday’s game was almost an exact reversal of Friday’s game, with Idaho potting one eight minutes into the first and following it with their second of the game only 1:16 into the second.  The Nailers were able to pull it together after that though, putting five goals in behind Thomson, the goalie for the Steelheads, and earning Michael McNiven his first win in the net since November 23rd of last year.  While it was a slow start for the Nailers in the game, the fact that they stuck with it, even when going down 2-0, shows that they’re ready to compete in every game and not let themselves just sit back and allow the game to get even further out of hand. Any time you have a situation where teams are playing three games in three days against one another, they generally have a good feeling for what the other is trying to do by that third game.  Combine that with the exhaustion that is bound to set in with that much hockey, and that game can very easily turn into a Wild West shootout, and last Sunday’s game didn’t disappoint in that respect, with the two teams combining for four goals and 28 shots on net in the first period alone.  Dead legs can make it a very tough game for players on defense trying to skate up and down the ice, but the biggest issue I saw was the Nailers penalty kill failing them pretty badly, allowing four Steelhead power play goals on only seven attempts, while Wheeling had nine power play attempts of their own and only capitalized on one of them.  Numbers like that will lead to final scores like the 7-4 setback they experienced in this game. Overall, despite the final outcomes from the weekend, I still think the Nailers had a good weekend.  Yeah, like I said, you don’t want to lose two out of three games like that, but I think Wheeling proved they were able to hang with a team at the top like Idaho.  The Steelheads were clearly the best team in the league last year, fell just short of winning the Kelly Cup, and appear to have a good shot of repeating that or more this year.  But after last weekend’s games, the Steelheads (along with the rest of the league) will have to keep Wheeling in mind as they continue to work throughout the season and get even stronger than they are now. The Nailers then went on the road for an early morning tilt with Toledo, a 6-5 shootout win over the Walleye during their education day game on Wednesday.  What did Wheeling do in that game to make sure they came away with the two points? If the Nailers were having a season like they did last year, they would’ve compounded the problems from the weekend series in their game Wednesday morning in Toledo.  First off, when you’re used to playing at night, to then have to adjust your regular schedule to accommodate such an early game can be difficult.  Add to that the presence of a rowdy crowd full of school children, and it could’ve definitely turned into Wheeling losing three of four, rather than them coming out of there with two huge standings points, although allowing a division opponent to earn the loser point despite Wheeling leading 5-3 going into the third period isn’t preferable. The Nailers found a way to do what they do often, scoring the first goal of the game and doing it very early, with Raivis Ansons making it 1-0 just 3:37 in.  Just over a minute later, Tanner Laderoute scored his fourth of the season, all coming in the last three games, to push Wheeling’s advantage further.  Toledo managed to get two of their own before the end of the period to make it 2-2 entering the first break. Wheeling came out and pushed hard to start the second again, with Bobby Hampton collecting his first of the year before the Nailers got two power play goals to give themselves a three-goal lead just past halfway through the second frame.  At that point, you had to think they could maintain what they’re doing, shut down the Walleye, and bring home the victory, but Toledo managed to pick one back up before the end of the period and get two more in the third and final frame to force extra time. After a lot of back-and-forth action in the overtime period that ultimately led to no scoring, the shootout began.  Toledo, as the home team, was given the choice and elected to shoot first.  After the first five shooters, neither team had scored, meaning the opportunity to put the game away fell on the stick of David Jankowski, who managed to push one in behind Jan Bednar to give the Nailers the big 6-5 win.  For the game, the specialty teams once again came through for Wheeling, with their power play earning two goals on five opportunities, while the penalty kill went perfect on three tries for Toledo. Obviously, it can be frustrating to allow Toledo back into the game when you have such a substantial lead more than halfway through the game.  But the Walleye are a division opponent, a rival at that, so you have to expect them to push hard to get back into it.  The fact that they had to score one with less than a minute to go in the game with their goalie pulled could’ve gotten into the Nailers collective head, but they didn’t fall apart in the overtime period.  Earning two points, even if they give up the extra point, has to feel good in that situation. The Nailers continue their road series this weekend, with games on Friday at Indy followed by a Sunday afternoon matchup with Fort Wayne.  What do the Nailers need to do in those games to come home with a couple victories? The game on Friday in Indy against the Fuel will be Wheeling’s first time seeing this year’s version of the team they had a losing record against last season.  Indy comes into the matchup in last place in the division with a 2-5-1 record and losers in their last four games.  Of all the games they’ve played so far this year, their worst by far was last Saturday, where they got beat by Cincinnati 6-2, and it didn’t even appear to be as close as that score suggests. The big issue Indy has had this year is their penalty kill, which is only successful 70.4% of the time.  While the Nailers PK unit isn’t much better at only 74.4% (after starting the season as strong as they did), that’s one area Wheeling will need to take advantage of to come out of there with a victory.  If the Nailers are able to earn one (or hopefully more) while on the man advantage, while hopefully shutting down an Indy power play that has a 20.6% success rate, that can only bode well for them. After that, Wheeling gets a second chance to beat the team that gave them their first defeat this season, a 7-3 setback on October 28 in the third game of the season.  In that game, which was also out in Fort Wayne, the Komets were able to score the first four goals of the game, including a natural hat trick by Cameron Wright (who has only scored one other goal this season), and the Nailers never really appeared to be in the game.  I’m not saying that payback should be the first thing in their mind to motivate them in this game, but getting the win back against them in their own building would feel really good. Fort Wayne, even though they are third in the division right behind the Nailers, struggle even more than Indy does on their specialty groups.  Their power play only has an 18.6% conversion rate, while their penalty kill is only successful 68.3% of the time.  Both of those numbers are subpar at best, and won’t lead many teams to see much success over the course of a season.  You can’t really claim it’s a small sample size anymore either, with both groups having over 40 opportunities, so this is really an area that Wheeling needs to take advantage of once again.  While the majority of every game is played at even strength, most teams break even in those situations, so the advantages really lie with those specialty teams.  If the Nailers can take advantage of how poor the Komets have been with those this season, they have a good chance to come home after the weekend with two big wins. Including this past Wednesday’s game, the Nailers next 12 opponents will all be from their division.  Considering the issues Wheeling had against divisional opponents last year, how do the Nailers reverse that trend for this year and what do they need to do over the next three weeks in these games to prove they’re a force to be reckoned with for the rest of the division? The Nailers had an even longer streak last season around this time, playing 20 straight games against division rivals between November 9 and December 23.  Last year’s version of the team went 10-9-1 over that stretch, which makes it very hard to stay competitive in the standings when you’re giving away that many points to teams you need to stay above in order to have a chance at the Kelly Cup playoffs. While this year’s version isn’t quite as daunting, it could prove to be just as important on the grand scale of things for how this team will finish up.  As I said last week, I like to break down the season into chunks of eight games at a time.  The Nailers finished their first chunk with the end of the Idaho series, going 5-3 in the first segment of eight games.  Winning records in each of those chunks goes a long way to keeping your team competitive in the standings. They obviously started the new chunk well with a big win in Toledo (even with it being in shootout, getting those two points is helpful).  That means their entire second chunk, as well as the first half of the third chunk, are made up of these divisional games, which should give you a feel of just how important these games already are.  When you only have nine segments, having one and a half of them in a row made up of teams you will be fighting for playoff spots at the end of the season means you can’t ignore these early season matchups. I know I’ve also mentioned this several times already this year, but specialty teams will take the Nailers a long way if they can stay successful.  Watching that penalty kill number drop as much as it has isn’t very inspiring, and I really do think they need to find a way to get it back up closer to that 85% success rate.  The power play, on the other hand, has managed to keep their work up, having their success rate up to almost 25%.  If they can keep that above 20% for the season, that should definitely help them, as last year’s success rate was all the way down to 14.9% by the end of the year.  When so many games are decided by which team performs better at the advantage, having your team be that successful at it is paramount to keeping your record up in that playoff range moving forward. The Nailers have already welcomed the Idaho Steelheads, but they have some other series coming up this season against teams that don’t visit the Friendly City very often, namely Tulsa and Orlando.  Does that make these series a little more special for the players and the fans since it’s something that isn’t seen as often as divisional opponents? Despite the outcome last weekend, it was definitely really cool to see a team like Idaho come to the Friendly City.  According to the Nailers director of media and community relations (and my good friend) DJ Abisalih, the Steelheads have only come to Wheeling one other time, a three-game series during the 2016-17 season.  During that series, the Nailers managed to win the first game by a 4-1 final before dropping the other two games, 3-2 and 4-1, respectively.  It’s interesting that they’ve only come to town twice, and both times have managed to take two of three from the home team. When it comes to Tulsa, while they might have come to town a bit more recently than that, they have also only come twice, one game in the 2019-20 season, followed by a two-game set in the 2020-21 COVID year, so fans here in Wheeling haven’t seen much of the Oilers.  The Nailers managed to win the single game in 2019 by a 6-4 score, then lost both games played in February 2021 by scores of 4-2 and 3-2.  This can serve as the Nailers opportunity to get those wins back from the Oilers when they come for a two-game series in early December (December 9-10 to be exact). As for Orlando, they’ve been to Wheeling plenty of times before, dating all the way back to the 2013-14 season, but they also haven’t been back since the 2020-21 COVID year.  I can remember seeing them in person playing the Nailers, I believe back around the 2015-16 or possibly the 2016-17 season, so this one might be a little less special than the others, but it’s still nice to see teams that haven’t been here in years get a chance to come back to town.  They will come back and renew hostilities with the Nailers February 2-4 this season. For players on the team and fans alike, getting the chance to see new opponents is something that should stick out.  These are teams you don’t get the chance to be familiar with like division opponents, and there’s no guarantee when you’ll have a chance to see something like that again.  I personally look forward to getting my tickets for those upcoming series, and I hope everyone reading this gets a chance to come down to Wesbanco Arena to see these teams in person too. Welcome To The Pack | Mendes Triplets Series | Part Four
Tumblr media
Summary: You’re a human who has moved in with the Mendes triplets as their newest housemate. You’ll have to learn to navigate life with werewolves, college classes, and your feelings for each guy. [fluff]
Word Count: 1.5k
|Masterlist In Bio|
"Hey sweetheart," Raul says as he wraps his arm around your shoulders. You're on your way out of your math class that you absolutely hate but are required to take at least one semester of a year for your degree. "Hungry?"
"I had a granola bar in class. So, not really?"
"When's your next class start?"
"An hour. I was going to go to the library."
Raul scoffs. "Nope, you're coming with me to get lunch."
"But I don't have any money."
He stares at you blankly. "I'll pay. I'm not going to make you pay for lunch when it's my idea. What am I? An animal?"
"Well..."
"Ah! Don't even go there." He grins and you can't help but crack a smile that turns into a little laugh. He's literally showing off his prominent fangs as he smiles. The irony. "What? Stop laughing."
"No." You push his lip up and he playfully bites your finger in retaliation. "Wolf boy."
Raul bares his teeth and you giggle. He's obviously not serious like he had been while fighting with Shawn the other day. While he looks terrifying, you aren't scared at the moment. Raul drops his facade and stares at you blankly. "You're weird."
"Nuh uh, you're weird. I'm just standing here, you're showing off your fangs to the world."
"And you're giggling at it!"
You raise your eyebrows and tilt your head a bit. "Would you rather I cry? Or run away?"
"N-no." He stammers. It's strange seeing him a little caught off guard like this. "You're like whiplash. One moment you're scared of us, the next you're giggling. I don't understand you."
You grab his hand and he slides his fingers between yours as if it were completely natural. Your heartbeat picks up a bit, not expecting him to do that. "Maybe you should try harder? I am your newest pack mate after all."
Raul narrows his eyes as if he were going to deny that statement, but he doesn't. He won’t. "Whatever, let's go to lunch."
"My choice?"
"No, mine."
"Well that's not fair."
He tugs you along gently, hand still in yours. "Life's not fair. I'm paying, I pick."
"Fine. Jerk."
"You know it, sweetheart.”

Shawn's first hockey game of the season is on Saturday and you're all bundled up, ready to sit in the cold arena for a few hours. Shawn had invited you to go on Monday and you couldn't say no. He was so cute about it, giving you his jersey from last year to wear over your hoodie and everything. He even made you some cookies in sort of hockey stick shape. Honestly the world doesn't deserve him.
"You made it!" Shawn says excitedly as he wraps his arms around you. You’re in the hall outside the locker and storage rooms for the ice rink on campus. Hockey is sort of a big deal at your school. "We're just getting ready, do you wanna see the locker rooms?"
"I think I'll pass."
"Okay, okay, yeah locker rooms are kind of gross." Shawn laughs, he almost sounds nervous though you can’t imagine why he would be. First game jitters most likely. "You wore my jersey I see."
"Mmhmm. It's huge even over my sweatshirt." You pull out the silky jersey material from your chest. "I guess that's good though, wouldn’t want it to squeeze me to death or something."
Shawn smiles. "I love it. Did Raul and Peter come with you?"
"Yeah, they're getting snacks at the concessions. You guys eat too much."
"Fast metabolisms." Shawn pats his padded stomach. "Wolves gotta eat baby."
"Yeah, and they eat everything in sight. Speaking of food, I'm making dinner tonight, so you better be home after the game."
Shawn groans in delight. "I get to have you watch me play and I get dinner? Is it my birthday?"
"It's Saturday." You chuckle, rolling your eyes at his theatrics. "I always make dinner on Saturday, the game is just a bonus."
From the locker rooms a few doors down the hallway you can hear the coach yelling for Shawn.
"I gotta go. I promise I'll be home for dinner. I’m riding back with you guys anyway."
"Good."
Shawn turns to go and you grab his hand. He turns back and you lean up on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek. "What was that?" He asks, touching the place where your lips had been.
"For good luck.” Your heart races and he squeezes your hand, telling you that he can feel it too. “Go, before the coach hunts you down."
Shawn flushes and clears his throat. "Thanks. I'll meet up with you after?”
"Mmmhmm. Good luck!"
____________________
Your team wins the game, even though Shawn kept gawking at you every couple of minutes. As team captain he really should be paying more attention. There were several shots he should have made with ease had he not been totally distracted. You can’t blame him though, he must be thinking about the cheek kiss. You know you were.
Post game you wait with Peter in the entryway to the ice complex. Peter gave you his jean jacket to keep warm even though you have on a hoodie and shawn’s jersey. Raul went to get Shawn's jeep to pick everyone up out front. Shawn had carpooled with one of the other guys on the team so you and the guys could bring his jeep and everyone could ride comfortably.
Shawn walks out of the doors to the rink and he’s got on his sunglasses and a long sleeve blue henley, bag of gear slung over his shoulder. He looks so good, like a professional hockey player coming out to meet fans. He pushes up his sunglasses and smiles, picking up the pace when he sees you and Peter at the doors.
"Did you see that shot I landed from halfway across the ice? It went sailing past their goalie so fast he didn’t stand a chance. I've never done that before." Shawn says excitedly. "I played so well.” He puts his free arm around your shoulders. “I think you're my good luck charm."
"Oh please, I think you were too distracted personally." You say and he raises his eyebrows, leaning back to look down at you. "What? Like I couldn't tell you kept searching for me in the seats? I know you missed that shot that was passed to you because you were looking for me when I moved to get a better view.”
"I just-"
"Shawn! Shawn!" A group of three girls comes running over, giggling and making a lot of noise between them. "You were amazing out there!" “So good!” “I loved the game!”
"Oh, thanks." Shawn says softly, breaking away from you for a moment. "Can I help you ladies?"
"We wanted to see if you were available tonight." One of the girls, a tall blonde, says playfully. "We're hosting a party at our place. Our frat actually."
Shawn looks at the three girls and then over to you and Peter. "I..."
You catch his eye and just sigh, assuming he's not going to be home for dinner now. You were even going to make his favorite, spaghetti and meatballs.
"I have dinner plans."
Your stomach flip flops. He’s going to go home with you and not these girls? Wild.
"Oh...that's lame. You could stop by after. We really want you to come over. You are the captain after all." One girl says with a little pout.
Shawn shakes his head. "I need to rest up." He steps away from the girls and puts his arm around your shoulders. "Thanks for the offer ladies, maybe another time."
Peter looks up from his phone and points to the glass doors. "Raul's here with the car."
"Gotta go," Shawn says, waving and walking you toward the doors.
"You don't have to stay home if you want to go," You say and glance back at the girls who are now talking among themselves. "I can save you some dinner or something."
Shawn presses his nose into your hair as he walks behind you now, arm around your chest. "I promised I'd be home for dinner. I can go to a party whenever. I don't get your spaghetti and meatballs all the time."
"How'd you know I was going to make that?"
"I saw the ingredients on the counter this morning. I realized when you said you were making dinner that was what it was going to be." Shawn opens the back door for you and hot air pours out. Raul's got the heater on high just for you. "I'm staying home."
"Alright, alright." You climb in the back seat and Peter gets in opposite you. He pockets his phone and scoots closer to you, leaning his head on your shoulder. You put your hand in his hair and he sighs contently. "Are you guys ready for dinner?"
Shawn throws his gear in the back before getting settled in the passenger seat and they all answer in a chorus of yes as Raul pulls out onto the street. You smile, feeling so at home with them. Being a part of a pack is pretty damn good.

UWCL RO16 Leg 2: 1/4th finals let’s gooooooooo
FCB Femení, rightfully considered among the top favs to win this thing
(I try not to swear. See how I fare. It wasn’t easy since I type these things on feeling)
First and foremost, happy birthday to Lieke! I bet you’ll enjoy this one a lot! PS: For the two Andrea’s I use Pere and Falcon.
Cata’s back in goal! She didn’t have much to do. The goal she conceided, looked like it was offside but it was not clear at all. She did well and stayed calm. I cannot believe she’s only 19 and already playing like this. We can rotate between her and Sandra perfectly fine and that is a very good thing. The only difference you’ll notice is the person themselves. Go on playstyle and you won’t notice a single defect;
Caro had a brace, first this season. She was amazing this match. I consider her as a WOTM but not the only one;
Cuz the birthday girl herself Lieke also scored a brace and was overall very attacking;
A bummer for Alexia not being able to score with 4 attempts on target. She still gave an assist and moved the pace of the game so not all was in vain;
It was lovely to see Falcon back out there after the long road to recovery. She played well;
I don’t blame Pere for PSV’s goal, which she accidentally assisted in. At the time of the game, we already had an 8 - 2 aggregate with roughly 15 minutes left on the clock. She tried to defend and it backfired. That stuff happens sometimes. She did well the entire game;
The yellow card on Mapi was absolutely ridiculous. She clearly played ball, a tackle like that is completely fine. But hey she still played a good game and didn’t lose focus.
I also want to focus on Lluis cuz I don’t talk about him enough: He rotates between players better than any coach I’ve seen this year. The youngsters Jana and Bruna got some minutes, Vicky, Melanie and Falcon played a bit more, Mariona and Asisat got rested a little, Leila got rested completely. He rotates between Sandra and Cata instead of having 1 goalie play every minute of every game, something he did last year. He learns and adapts to situations well and always communicates well with the team. He’s a big factor in how strong the team is today.
Iberdrola’s got 2 more matches this year: one in the weekend, one on a weekday. Despite 2020 being... 2020, we can agree this year was amazing for them.
For now let’s enjoy the fact they qualified the 5th consecutive season for Quarters!

Overall, this was an amazing year for the Bruins. Think about all the milestones they achieved. How many other teams did the same? I can’t think of any. Plus all the other things that happened. The China trip. The Winter Classic. Middleton’s jersey number freezing. Willie O’Ree (yes, for me he will always be a Bruin) being added to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Among other things.
Despite all the trades both before the season started and at the beginning of 2019, I feel like this has been one of the strongest lineups we’ve had. Think about all the guys we took in and claimed as our own: Halak, Wagner, Nordström, Moore, Johansson, Smith, Coyle. And one more, but he doesn’t exist in my timeline.
Our vets stepped up big time this season. Marchy reached 100 points. Tuukka became the most winningest goalie in the team history. Krejci had his 600th point, and then some. Bergy reached over 1000 games as a Bruin and reached his 800th goal. Chara reached his 200th career goal.
Our young guns killed it as well. All of them. They were fantastic and did so many great things I couldn’t even keep up!
And our coach? Cassidy reached his 100th win as the head coach of the Bruins during this season. While there were minor hiccups every now and then, he was on fire this year.
Rask and Halak were definitely one of the most iconic goalie tandems this year. Without their skill we would have never gotten to the playoffs. They picked each other up when needed but could also stand tall by themselves. They had nine shutouts between them during the regular season.
This team calls themselves a family for a reason. They’re there for each other, no matter what. They’re there to help each other out and have each other’s backs whenever someone needs it. Everyone is loved. Everyone is equal. This is a team every other team should aspire to be. No matter the age, experience, nationality, no one is above anyone else. They have veteran guys and big names, but they’re humble and patient and eager to help the younger guys to reach their potential. They have young players with a lot of energy and aspiration, but they’re ready to listen to their elders, they want to become the best versions of themselves.
They fought their asses off to win the Stanley Cup. Every single one of them. But the sad truth is that sometimes your best just isn’t enough, no matter how much you want it to be. This wasn’t any single player’s fault. This wasn’t the management’s fault. It’s just a fact of life, and we all need to live with it from now on.
Despite not winning, I honestly think this was a beautiful season. After everything the team has done and experienced, after everything this fandom has gone through, I can honestly say that I’m content. Not happy. But content. I can leave this season behind, take a deep breath and look towards the next one knowing this team continues to amaze me and make me happy.
Thank you for all of my followers, Bruins fans or not, for taking this journey with me! I won’t be going anywhere, but I know a lot of you are. I will be here when you come back. I love you guys <3
