Twenty Questions for Fic Writers 💫
thank you @mostlymaudlin for the tag <3 tagging @facewithoutheart @martsonmars @cutestkilla and @you-remind-me-of-the-babe
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
68! Which is…wild. Six of them are songs though.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
126,027 - dang!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Primarily the simon snow series and all for the game. I recently got into young royals so a few there as well, plus one each for a couple other shows I like.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Like rory my top 5 are all andreil! aftg has a large and voracious readership. Better than Sex (4k, T) / Eating Well (1k, T) / Needing/Getting (3k, T) / Friendly Neighborhood Vamp (.5k, T) / Soak up the Sun (.5k, T)
Rest under the cut!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Usually yes! Sometimes I go through spells of not replying…but I’m grateful for every single kudos and comment, it’s amazing and wonderful <3
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This is tough bc i love me a happy ending and i don’t really do angst anyway lmao. My joke answer is my crack andreil fic Monday, but maybe the real answer is my snowbaz fic+song Breakable bc I left off before things get fully resolved (but it is clearly hopeful imo).
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The happiEST?? Hmmm. I think my overall Happiest fic might be like, Mon Chou? And Better than Sex. both of those are just like, gooey with happiness. And both have happy endings so I’ll say one of them. Actually from a different approach I’ll say my time loop fic has the happiest ending bc it’s probably the angstiest thing I’ve written haha so the ending is such a relief.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have not!! Super grateful for everyone who leaves lovely warm positive comments on my work <3333
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not on my own LOL. i do have some M/E fics in my works though thanks to some collabs (see Q13 lol) <3
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have not! I think about it sometimes….it’s just usually hard for me to imagine a world where all my blorbos live, even though I almost only write AUs…a mystery
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, which is wild!!! I think several of my Vandrew fics and BtS have been translated into russian. Thank you translators, you’re incredible.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes!! This was one of my most fun and treasured early fandom experiences with @facewithoutheart and @martsonmars <3 published results include The Chain (i was really just losing my mind in the doc while christina wrote tbh) and The Muse’s Waking which is probably the weirdest thing I’ve ever (partially) written hahah
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Making me chooooooose ugh. Idk man i reread a snowbaz fic today and almost cried and they were my first fandom love so today i’m going to say them <3
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I recently picked up a fic i abandoned 2 years ago so now i’m like well never say never! But one that’s in my “this is in the past now” pile that i was just thinking about is my andreil Alex Rider (TV) AU. i actually had an idea for how to get around the bit i was stuck on while rewatching Alex Rider the other day sooo…. But likely still abandoned
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think, somewhat incongruously, 1) writing concisely and 2) setting a mood. I think both these things are true in say Weightless (andreil, 1k, T).
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
PLOT. plot is so hard. That’s too broad of an answer so i’ll say, keeping multiple storylines/arcs progressing at once. I don’t do it much. It’s a fun challenge though. I usually write little one-shot, single-conflict fics bc that comes easier for me.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Love it. Not fluent in any other language enough to really do it justice but i’d like to.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I think i wrote some hp and some jane austen fic before i ever got into Fandom Proper lol. First published fandom was for the Simon Snow Series <3
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
I think the one i’ve gone back to the most is Weightless. I set it in one of my favorite IRL places and it has tender blood drinking so. How could I beat that, really?

I saw that you like CATS the musical. What are your thoughts on the movie?
AAAAH AHHAHA oh man oh boy y'all should BUCKLE IN cuz it's a ride
my simple thoughts? it's entertaining if only because it butchered the stage show so badly in an attempt to idk modernize it? Well, modernization is one part of it I think. The other part I'll go into below lol. I don't necessarily hate some of the more modern renditions of the songs (mostly the ensemble sets like Jellicle Song for Jellicle Cats) but then others are just... so poorly done it's insulting.
I've said this at the end of this whole rant too but I'm gonna put it up here in case people don't (justifiably) wanna see me go on and on about it:
The movie wasn't made for fans of the musical. It was made to make money and I believe they choose, at least partially, to do that through making it the weirdest and worst possible adaptation they could so that people would want to go see the train wreck. Which, really, worked! It was all people could talk about for a good while so like... Goal achieved, I guess.
A MUCH MORE COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS UNDER THE CUT cuz i don't wanna. flood your dash with... this
ALRIGHT SO. Most of my friends know I'm actually a huge fan of new adaptations of things. I love remakes (provided the people making it are coming at it with some form of heart and not just... cash grabbing which is more often the case) I love seeing other peoples interpretations of characters, or changing settings. It's one of the reasons I like American comics so much, getting to see different writers takes is fascinating.
I think musical movies can be wonderful ways to introduce people to a stage show that might have been unavailable to them otherwise! Chicago, for example, is one of the BEST musical to movie adaptations in my opinion. It kept the heart of the show, it's funny and the song numbers are done really well.
There are of course other famous examples, such as Grease or Bye Bye Birdie. Hairspray was also a wonderful take. These are simply off the top of my head, there are of course more.
CATS in particular has a history. If you go through my CATS tag you may see a few posts from @catsnonreplica which posts photos from non broadway productions of CATS! It's a fascinating read and I love, love, love looking at the other interpretations of the characters! CATS is a musical full of fun and wonderful characters if you take the time to see past the ridiculousness haha and the Korean and Japanese runs of CATS especially have some of my favourites.
How does this relate to the movie, I hear you say well. As you might has noticed the movie's interpretations of the characters is........ lackluster at best and downright uncanny valley at best.
CATS is, at its core, a ridiculous thing. I will fully admit that! But it's fun, it's entertaining and if you pay a little attention you can actually get the plot. (Honestly I don't understand when people complain it has no plot but that's a whole other rant for another day)
The movie was... obsessed with this idea of like... semi realism? Like obviously, as a fan, I think they should have leaned into the over the top character designs but instead we got...w ell:
Bombalurina:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Demeter left and Bomba right. Demeter was actually cut! From the movie which is. upsetting lmao.
Macavity is one of the worst offenders for me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macavity was... I wish I could know what the hell they were thinking there cuz it's even in his song? Ginger cat??? THAT IS NOT... A GINGER CAT...... but I digress. I would show more examples but I think you get the point.
So. We've butchered the characters appearances. Okay that's fine but what about their personalities?
ALSO BUTCHERED.
There's... there's a lot to unpack here. Just for context: the Jellicle Ball happens once a year and the Jellicle leader chooses a single cat to be reborn into a new life. In the stage play all the cats who are nominated for this honour are on the older side (Jenny-Any-Dots, Bustopher Jones, Skimbleshanks, Gus The Theatre Cat, and eventually Grizzabella) AND are always nominated by another cat. Not themself, unlike the movie where they all seem to nominate themselves.
Jenny-Any-Dots went from a doting grandmother figure who's celebrated for her selfless volunteering and tireless work into a conceited, vain younger cat who is obsessed with fame.
It's an incredibly strange dichotomy. I don't doubt some of it isn't the result of the uh people playing the characters honestly. I do think some of them did the best they could! I don't really blame Jason Derulo, for example, for Tugger. And honestly, Tugger was probably closest to his stage version (while being a trouble maker, he's shown to show Deuteronomy an immense amount of respect)
Speaking of Tugger! This will bring us to one of the biggest grievances with the movie and that is how they handled Mr Mistoffelees.
So... Ugh. So. We have Victoria as the pov character, which imo is like whatever in the grand scheme of things, and then we have Misto who they have decided will be get live interest cuz... Of course. Misto is shown throughout the musical to be awkward, unsure of himself and well. Really, kinda incompetent. Which is Wild cuz in the stage show he might be aloof but he's fairly confident in his powers.
So, Old Deuts gets kidnapped. In the stage show Tugger is the one to bring Misto forward! It's really quite sweet, imo, and I'm showing myself as a Tuggoffelees shipper here, but again Tugger is previously shown to be pretty conceited but then here he is boosting and hyping up Misto to bring Deuteronomy back. My friends and I have lovingly dubbed this the boyfriend hype song.
SOMEHOW. The movie manages to make this, easily, the MOST BORING number in the whole thing. Which, again, WILD. Misto awkwardly stumbles through his whole song, which again is... Boasting of his supreme magical powers which movie Misto clearly. Does not have or believe to have. The song, to me, feels super awkward and unnecessarily drawn out in the movie which sucks cuz it's one of my favourites in the show.
The declawing (heh) of Mr Mistoffelees actually reminds me strongly of how they changed Gaston in the live action Beauty and the Beast movie. He's gone from a beloved figure in the animated movie to someone so disliked in the town that Le Fou has to pay people off to say nice things about him. It's just. Wild character choices were made!!
Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat is probably my favourite in movie non ensemble number. It feels the most... Genuine? Compared to the other nomination songs.
Other problems include but are not limited to:
The inconsistent size scale of the CATS which throws me off constantly.
The weirdly overt sexual overtones added to MANY of the songs (Jenny and Bustopher being the worst)
This is just a personal gripe and opinion but I don't like that they used the UK version of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. The American version is both better known and tbh way more fun. Teazer's giggle? Adds ten years to my life every time.
Victoria's added solo song, Beautiful Ghosts, while I like the song as a song it doesn't fit the style of message of the musical. In the movie she's singing directly to Grizzabella who's being an outcast for years that she should be grateful she even has memories of being part of the tribe?? What?? But I know they had to add an original song to be able to be nominated for awards in like the Grammys n shit (which is why all musical movies will have an original song, fun fact!!) kinda funny they went to the effort though considering........... I don't think anyone could have genuinely believed CATS 2019 was gonna win anything but golden rhaspberries.
Movie Mr Mistoffelees has made repeated appearances as my sleep paralysis demon
The various cut characters, shout outs to Jemima, Demeter and Jellylorum especially
Bombalurina being a henchman to Macavity rubs me the wrong way
God I've written... So much. You probably get it by now haha. Like I said at the beginning, I try to go into any adaptation with an open mind but... Let's be honest, this movie wasn't marketed to people who are fans of the musical.
It was marketed, and made, to make money. And they choose to do that through, I think, intentionally making the worst possible version ever. Bad press is still press and the more outrageous people said the movie was the more people wanted to go see exactly what kind of train wreck it was.
Which is a disservice to the stage show, honestly, and all the people who've worked on it over the years.
But what can we do, right?
And besides all that, I do... Still own the movie version and I do still rewatch it on occasion. It is entertaining even if it's in a train wreck kind of way. I usually end up watching the 1998 version, then 2019 and then various tour runs that are on YouTube. (I highly recommend the 2016 tour, it's very good)
So in conclusion. It's fun (?) to watch. I enjoy picking things apart and doing analysis (if you couldn't tell!) so like... I don't hate it?
It did what it set out to do, I guess, and I can't fault it for that but. It's not a fair metre with which to judge the stage show imo. But I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, haha.
Jazz hands. I'm more than happy to elaborate or just chat about CATS if anyone wants! I grew up listening to the Broadway CD since I was a toddler so it's been! A very long standing obsession haha. Probably the only other thing on par with CATS is my obsession with Jurassic Park which I've also been a fan of since I was 3 (but that's a whole story in and of itself)

Rules: list the first lines of your last ten published stories. 👀 if there are any patterns yourself, and see if anyone else notices any! tag up to ten friends!
tagged by @mad-madam-m and @andavs!  thanks, ladles (i typed ladles and i’m fucking going with it.  you’re weird-shaped spoons now, and i love you)!!!  side note: i swear, i do not know where 2018 has been going for me, i have not been writing a lot recently, which is some bulllllshit and must be rectified.  anywhozzles:
1. Derek scrapes a knuckle against the bristle on his jaw and waits out the light. (Sinking and Surfacing, Sterek, 9.5k.)
derek pov is so important to establish, y’all.  because i love it but it does not come as naturally as stiles and i will forget i’m doing a derek fic if i don’t instantaneously remind myself at like... word one
2. The blood sticks. (Anchor’s Away, Sterek, 2.5k.)
short sentences for my has-to-be-2.5k-word-count, hahaha.  it seems like it’s gonna be such an angsty affair from this and the first scene sets this kinda grimy, heavy atmosphere and then it ends with stiles saying, “if this whole thing works out?  we’re getting married next to the jam branch.”  you couldn’t have predicted that, I AM A MASTER OF TWISTS AND TURNS, FREN
3. Stiles meets his future husband on a rather unspectacular Wednesday. (Hibernation Station, Sterek, 72.9k.)
i liked this so much i made it the summary.  it sums up the whole fic though, it really does
4. Stiles glances at the chalk menu above the register. (Prostitute vs. Werewolf, Sterek, 12.9k [wip].)
i will finish this, i swear to fucking thor i will.  i’m sorry i have been slacking SO BAD, i did not realize i was so behind, yikes, i had the next part almost ready to go then decided i hated it and i have just... been in a funk about it now, my b.   i feel like this whole year so far has been, ‘once i get through this week, i can x,’ but every fucking week, y’know?
5. Stiles has a bandage slung under his chin like a disembodied helmet strap when Derek first meets him. (Sevens and Eights, Sterek, 10k.)
i’m probably the only person who immediately pictures a tiny, dirt-streaked, gap-toothed, grinning-so-wide-it-hurts baby stiles just from that line and that makes me the luckiest duck
6. The heavy rain from earlier in the afternoon has transformed the unspoiled banks of snow into an unappealing slush of gray and gravel, and left the sky unhelpfully darker than the hour would suggest. (Stopgap, Sterek, 6k.)
i was trying a thing on this one.  this fic is super description-heavy - which is something i’ve never felt particularly strong on (or maybe it’s just that i find it boring and assume that’s the same thing [i think it is, it shouldn’t be boring if you’re good at it, right???]) - and i forget which book i was reading at the time but it had really nice description and i was like, huh, i should try a thing.  so i did!  not sure how successful it was, i go back and forth on it, deciding i both love and hate it every few months it feels like
7. Stiles chews on his thumbnail, gaze going shrewd as it tracks a passing mechanic, his grease-splotched hand gripping a wrench the size of Stiles’ ulna. (Pick a Pack of Pestered Puppies, Sterek, 14.3k.)
i hated this fic so much when i posted it and i like it so much better now, especially the beginning.  like, it’s really written rather nicely.  who the fuck did that?  i should hire her again to write some more stuff
8. Stiles hadn’t been in Beacon Hills in five years, hadn’t seen Derek in nearly as long, when he got the text:
New number: (+530) 365-2421 ([Hilary Duff Lyric Redacted], Sterek, 40k.)
this is another one where i used the first line as the summary.  since it really is, like, here’s your set-up: now GO!  and i like that i was able to do that so effing succinctly and have it look pretty dang natural too
9. “This isn’t going to work,” Derek mutters from the corner of his mouth, squinting down at the hazy figure of Scott.  (Our Puddle is Deceptively Deep, Sterek, 10k.)
hey-oh, probably my favorite fic i’ve ever written, it flows so fucking niiiiice.  this is my perfect derek pov fic (for me, at least)
10. “Off to Appalachia?” Ron asked as Harry sank down in his desk chair. (We Might be Too Old for a Bildungsroman, Drarry, 21.3k.)
this is probably the weirdest starting line, i think, of all of these, haha.  it’s really important to me in hp fandom that ron gets immediate and great rep though!
i don’t really see any patterns - aside from pretty often establishing (and hammering on) tense and pov as quickly as i can so i don’t make my COMMON mistake of mismatching that - but otherwise i don’t think i’m a very consistent writer?  or rather, i don’t feel like i have a consistent style, i have the same details i go back to and tropes i love, etc., of course, but a great deal of these were written on the heels of reading something that - the way it was told - really spoke to me and inspired me to fiddle about with the same style so, idk, i feel pretty random!  maybe i’m not at all though, i think almost everything i’ve been anon on in the teen wolf fandom has been guessed by someone, especially when it’s a silly one, so i’m sure there’s something i’m not seeing [snorts]
tagging: @piratefalls, @acaranna, @grimmypuff, @tryslora, @stileshale, @kellifer-k, @urban-barbarian, @i-sveikata, @thepsychicclam, @alocalband and anyone else who sees this and wants to!  (you do not have to waffle btw, i just... do that [coughs])

WIP Folder Meme
Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous they are
the dearest @mediawhorefics tagged me, so now i have to dig through the mess that is my gdocs to see what i have haha
First things first, i have 54635664 docs from Make Your Heart Remember Me: MYHRM C1 / MYHRM C2 / MYHRM C3 and then I broken down C4 in four parts so currently we have MYHRM C4 1 and i’ve just finished MYHRM C4 2. We also have the voice kids au outlining (which is self explanatory) and the voice kids au things to include (which is also self explanatory).
Ok, onto other things:
drarry au: an idea i had last week after reading too many drarry fics. it’s a post-war au, auror harry gone wrong who finds in a isolated draco the help he needs to find himself again, basically.  will i ever write this? who knows. drarry is too sacred for me to try to write something out of it without thinking i’m screwing it up.
just my luck au: this doc came to life because i watched this movie basically three times in a row some weeks ago and it has been in my list of larry aus i want to write for a long time, but i don’t have anything written, i only put which character from the movie they all would be.
next fic ideas: that’s basically a doc with the prospects of fics that i’m more inclined to write in the near future, which includes -- bad at sex au (more detailed below), soulmates/soulmark au 1 (they are childhood friends and each other’s soulmate but they are too scared to say they got each other’s words, which is a phrase the other said that has a big impact on them -- so it becomes really angsty because louis finds out harry’s his soulmate when they are 10 and there’s pining and a lot of shit), soulmate/soulmark au 2 (a different one where people are born with their soulmark which is a complimentary mark and anne and jay are best friends and when harry’s born, his mark is complimentary to 2yo louis and they are scared of what might happen to them, so instead of making them grow up as close as they are, louis resents harry as a spoiled and overprotected boy and harry grows up admiring louis until the day they find out about each other’s mark and that’s also too angsty) and a social media/secret friends/pining au (which is loosely inspired by love simon, just because of the online friend thing tbh but it goes something like this: harry pines for a irl friend and tells everyone online about it on his blog, and louis is one of his online friends who is in love with him but can’t tell him irl)
m&w part 5 ideas: yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, that’s about it i can say :)
m&w5 timestamp: i missed my boys so much i started toying with something but nothing came out of this BECAUSE I NEED SYN’ BRAIN BACKING ME UP.
bad at sex: i started writing down this idea and actually came up with a scene lmao it has almost 6k on it, basically it’s a fic where harry and louis are strangers who hook up after meeting at bar, they end up having sex but it’s the worst sex louis has ever had in his life and afterwards he never sees harry again but he spreads the story around until one day it gets to harry and for louis’ luck, he ends up meeting harry at another bar and harry wants louis to know why he told everybody and their mother about their night and blablabla until they keep talking and louis takes pity on harry and decides to help him improve his sex life LMAO it’s simply ridiculous but i have fun thinking about it, maybe one day i’ll write it
stony au: which was an idea i had inspired by the larry fic the impossible now, and that i ended up writing the main idea as syn’s birthday. basically there’s an alternative universe where steve and tony are married, living normal lives not as superheroes, tony is still tony stark from stark industries and steve is a veteran from the us army but they have lots of problems until one day they have an ugly argument and that leads to him meeting doctor strange and ant man from another universe who take him to the avenger’s universe when they need tony to make captain america join the avengers to fight loki on the battle of new york and it happens that tony falls in love with captain america but has to figure it out what to do about his own steve back home.
Harry and Louis were so lost in each other: this is something I HAD TO WRITE DOWN because i had a dream about this while i was napping one day. it’s filthy. it’s 175 words long and i have no idea what to do with this, but yeah, it exists.
ngga 1 and ngga timeline: never gonna get away, the pwp-ish me and syn wanted to write but that will never be. solo artist harry/music critic journalis louis  hate to love/fuck buddies. yeah.
ww2 au: another idea syn and i had that will never be. childhood friends who find out they are in love with each other when one of them goes to war, with lots of pining and angst and letters exchange
high school au: 1.5k of a first scene where louis is heading to detention after being a smart-mouth and making fun of his teacher, and he’s telling all about that to niall, liam and zayn, and harry overhears it and starts laughing at him and louis is intrigued about the boy he doesn’t even know but who has the weirdest yet cutest laughter he’s ever heard. strangers to friends to lovers, basically. but the idea is long lost because i seriously don’t remember where i wanted to go with this lmao
i’m gonna tag @regulusarcblack @1diamondinthesun @tofiveohfive @hrrytomlinson @lt2018 if you want to do it and haven’t already, of course :D

Say What Now?
Chuck x Reader, Gabriel, Amara
Requested by @homra-the-red-clan like forever ago.... “So basically he falls in love with his human they get together towards the end of the fight and everything and she ends up pregnant it shows I’m going through like the Motions of hey you’re like literally God and her making him wait the good old human fashion way maybe I don’t know in a little bit of Gabriel coming in and bugging them every once in awhile he is excited to have a little brother or sister”
Word Count: 974
Warnings: Language
A/N: This is the first time I’ve ever written Chuck/God, or Amara.... or Gabriel, oh dear God this should be fun haha
It’s short, I know, I’m sorry. I panicked a little, and got intimidated trying to write for a character that I’ve never done before. I hope you still like it.

Two years. Two years I have known this man, and never once have I thought there was something about him that seemed off. As I sit here listening to the catastrophic fight he is having with someone I can only assume is his sister, I’m starting to wonder who he really is. The answer I receive is not the one I was expecting. Although, what was I expecting? I didn’t really peg this sweet man to be involved in some sort of mob situation, so then what?
The woman in the long black dress, stomps her foot and the air around us echoes a crash of thunder. I am visibly shaken, and she chuckles, “she doesn’t know. does she?”
He turns his head in my direction with a pained look in his eyes. “No.”
She rolls her eyes, “Oh so you go and create all these little things that you needed, because I wasn’t enough, and you can’t even tell the one you love the most that you’re God?”
Everything that happens after that is a blur; nothing more than fuzzy images, and muffled sounds as my brain tried to make sense of it all.
Two weeks later, I find myself sitting on his couch, after he said that we should probably talk. He holds my hand in his,  thumb barely tracing mindless patterns into the back of my hand. Neither one of us bothers to say a word for a while. We sit in silence until I am ready to process this news. “Is it true?”
His eyes meet mine, “Am I God?” He clarifies. “Yes.”
“But like how?” I ask, still utterly confused on how he could possibly be God.
“What do you mean how?” He questions with a bit of a chuckle. “I just am.”
“Okay, but how do I know that you’re really God, and not some crazy meth head that drugged me, and I had a bad trip.”
That one makes him laugh a little bit more, “Gosh, you’re adorable.” He says smiling. “Well, let’s see...” He proceeds to list off everything about me. Things my closest friends in school, and even my parents didn’t know about.
“Oh my God...” My eyes bug out, and a crimson stain washes over my cheeks, “and that was the weirdest thing to say right then. I guess I won’t be using that phrase anymore.”
“No, it’s okay. I like the way it sounds when you say it.”
My mind floats back to what that Amara said back then, ‘...the one you love the most.’ Forgetting he’s God, I jump a little when he seems to have known exactly what I was thinking. “I was wondering if you had caught that. She’s right you know. I’m not supposed to have favorites, but I do, and you’re it. I knew the moment you ran into me outside of that coffee shop, that I wanted you.”
It’s been about six months since that conversation took place, and you might think I’m insane for sticking around, and even dating him, but it’s been the best six months of my life.
This morning is no different. As I wake up, and roll over to face him, I am met with him staring at me with a dopey grin on his face. “What?” I mumble still groggy.
“I’m just really happy.”
“Okay, you weirdo.” I laugh.
Throughout the morning, anytime I look up, he’s doing it again. Just staring at me like he’s high, or he knows something. I put the paper down, and look him dead in the eye, “Alright, what the heck is wrong with you. You’re really starting to freak me out.”
He smiles, and grabs my hand, “I was gonna let you find out on your own but, I’m just too excited I guess.” He lets out a nervous little laugh, “Y/N, you’re pregnant.”
“Shut up!” I look down, and my hands instinctively fly to my stomach. “For real!”
“Yes for real. Why would I lie about that”
A big grin made it’s way across my face, and I  rounded the table, plopping myself in his lap. I press y lips to his in a gentle, sweet kiss. “I’m so happy right now.”
“Good” He smiles.
Fast forward a month or two, to me with my head in a toilet, puking my brains out. He sits beside me, hand rubbing over my back. “You know I can help, right?”
I wipe my mouth with a towel. “No. I am doing this the good old fashioned human way.”
I’m strong willed, and he often says that’s one of the many things he loves about me, but this, this is killing him.
“Are you sure? I mean, I am God. You know I can just snap my fingers, and the baby will be born, right?”
“Yes! You’ve told me a thousand times, but I will say it again. You’re just gonna have to wait like every other dad in the world.”
“You’re no fun.”
An all to familiar voice break up our conversation. “Am I interrupting something? I feel like I’m interrupting something?”
We both roll our eyes, “Gabe what are you doing in my bathroom?” I ask, already knowing the answer.
“What! I just came to check on the little bro... or sis. Let me guess, he won’t tell you either.”
“I don’t want to know. I want this to be a completely normal pregnancy.”
“Oh yeah, you’re pregnant with God’s baby, and you want this to be normal.”
“GABRIEL THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS WEEK! For the love of all that is holy, leave me alone!”
Arms weave their way around me, “Easy honey. He’s just excited to have a new sibling again. It’s been a while.
“I know. I’m sorry Gabe. I’m just a little touchy with the mood swings and all.”

all of them :P
There’s LITERALLY 50 omg >_> Ah well, if I’m procrastinating, might as well go big or go home. Warning: LONG.
Finally, an ask-meme for writers!
01: When did you first start writing?
My first ever time writing stories was in 2nd grade; we wrote stories weekly in my class. The first time I began to consciously write and consider myself a writer was probably 8th grade.
02: What was your favorite book growing up?
Ahhhh so many. Series more than individual books. Starting from when I was really young, my iconic series were: Clifford the Big Red Dog, Henry and Mudge, Horrible Harry, A to Z Mysteries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Nancy Drew, and The Chronicles of Narnia, to name a few.
03: Are you an avid reader?
Actual books? Not as much anymore. I’m too tired or busy. I read fanfics, though :p
04: Have you ever thrown a book across the room?
Where the Red Fern Grows lol one of the only books to date to make me cry.
05: Did you take writing courses in school/college?
Writing-specific? No.
06: Have you read any writing-advice books?
I mean, I had to read like MLA manuals and other “writing tips” books for school, so yeah, I guess.
07: Have you ever been part of a critique group?
Not like a real one, just in class in college
08: What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
I think the best feedback I get is on here, really! You guys are super sweet, and some of you offer some great concrete feedback! I can’t think of anything specific, but I also get really tickled when someone comments on my writing style.
09: What’s the worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
Worst as in quality wise was “this was good.” or something like that lol
Worst as far as soul-crushing...ooo. Story Time!
Freshman year of college. I had to take this like early-level English class, and the focus was on nonfiction writing and stuff like that. My professor often picked apart my papers because he didn’t like my writing style, especially not my prose, because he said it was way too florid (flowery or wordy). That made me really sad, but then I had another professor who taught a senior level class who LOVED my prose, so. It’s all relative.
10: What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?
Mmmmmmm when people use the same word over and over and over again (which, I am so guilty of, so that’s probs why it bugs me haha) Also too many short sentences. I literally can’t read something if the syntax isn’t varied enough to flow.
11: What’s your favorite book cover?
OOOOoooo I like this one! But sadly I don’t pay attention enough to have an answer to this...Citizen by Claudia Rankine has a pretty thought-provoking cover. I also like the Penguin Classics cover of The Crucible.
12: Who is your favorite author?
C.S. Lewis is a p cool dude
13: What’s your favorite writing quote?
Quote about writing? This was an important one for me as a growing writer and person, tbh:
“I deal with writer’s block by lowering my expectations. I think the trouble starts when you sit down to write and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent—and when you don’t, panic sets in. The solution is never to sit down and imagine that you will achieve something magical and magnificent. I write a little bit, almost every day, and if it results in two or three or (on a good day) four good paragraphs, I consider myself a lucky man. Never try to be the hare. All hail the tortoise.” ~ Malcolm Gladwell
This is literally me and the roots of my procrastination and anxiety with writing anything, be it fanfiction or school work. I worry too much about making it perfect the first time, but another great quote is: “The first draft is always perfect because all it has to do is exist” or something like that. It’s something I’m still working on, but have gotten better at.
14: What’s your favorite writing blog? c;
You mean besides mine :p haha JKJKJK I don’t follow any purely writing blogs, but I’ve read many GREAT pieces from (I missed SO many people in this, so I’m really sorry if I didn’t tag you. I’m too tired to go hunting too far.)
(Sanders Sides) ssides, random-snippets, tinysidestrashcaptain, stillebesat, pirate-patton, among others
(Soul Eater) smokeandjollyranchers, professor-maka, tsarodat, makapedia, kittenintheden, raining-down-hearts, earth-shines, sandmancircus, poisonedscarlett, among others
For non-fandom stuff, hawaiianmint and garnet-portrait have some great poetry that really makes my heart hurt.
15: What would you say has inspired you the most?
As far as writing, I assume....honestly, being involved in fandoms and writing fanfiction! I’m only where I am now because I read so many great writers and  adapted their good habits to my own.
16: How do you feel about movies based on books?
I haven’t been a fan of a ton of books turned to screen productions, so that doesn’t help. I liked the Narnia movies until the Dawn Treader. I liked the ASOUE movie, and I’m still deciding how I feel about the Nextflix series. Other than those, I can’t think of any significant ones, to me lol
17: Would you like your books to be turned into TV shows, movies, video games, or none?
Books that I like or books that I write? Etiher way it depends on who’s directing.
18: How do you feel about love triangles?
Eeehhhhhhhhhhh overused trope that ruins otherwise perfectly good plots.
19: Do you prefer writing on a computer or longhand?
Computer. It’s so much easier. I won’t even pretend.
20: What’s your favorite writing program?
I just use Word, my dude.
21: Do you outline?
Not as often as I should, but it helps me a lot.
22: Do you start with characters or plot?
It’s give and take between both, usually characters, though.
23: What’s your favorite & least favorite part of making characters?
Favorite is customization and how no one can tell you that your own OC is OOC.
Least favorite is how involved and difficult it can be.
24: What’s your favorite & least favorite part of plotting?
Favorite is how much fun it can be to throw in twists and make it all interesting!
Least favorite is how I tend to overthink things or not be brave enough to really GO for something. Also research can suck.
25: What advice would you give to young writers?
You’re young. Don’t worry about being amazing at first. You’ll learn and you’ll grow. Online, ins a supportive community, is a good place to start.
26: Which do you enjoy reading the most: physical, ebook, or both?
Physical 100% (I’d print out and read fanfiction that way if I could okay)
27: Which is your favorite genre to write?
Uuuuuuuuuuummmmmm fiction? lol
28: Which do you find hardest: the beginning, the middle, or the end?
Depends on the story, but usually the end.
29: Which do you find easiest: writing or editing?
Editing
30: Have you ever written fan-fiction?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah yes. help me.
31: Have you ever been published?
Naaahh
32: How do you feel about friends and close relatives reading your work?
Anything other than my fanfics: Shy, but ok.
My fanfics: NONONONONONONONONONONONONO TOO MUCH. EMBARRASSING. -Virgil Sanders 2k4ever
33: Are you interested in having your work published?
I mean maybe, but I’m not good enough, tbh lol
34: Describe your writing space.
My bedroom.
35: What’s your favorite time of day for writing?
I don’t have a favorite, but it often strikes when I should be doing something else.
36: Do you listen to music when you write?
Sometimes! Depends on what I’m writing and how tired I am.
37: What’s your oldest WIP?
I have a lot of things I never finished, but in this case, WIP means, to me, that I might actually finish it, so that would probably be one of a handfuls of old Soul Eater fics I never finished or posted lol
38: What’s your current WIP?
Just one????? LOL
“Patton’s Intuition” (Sanders Sides Fic)
“Virgil the (Semi-)Friendly Ghost” (Sanders Sides Human!GhostAU)
“Eggs and Black Coffee” (A Soul-Eater College!AU)
“A Rose by Any Other Name” (Another Soul-Eater AU)
“Bedside Manner” (Soul-Eater Hospital!AU)
39: What’s the weirdest story idea you’ve ever had?
Mmmmmmm I don’t think I’ve really had any weird ideas. I once thought of doing a Soul-Eater Avatar:TheLastAirbender!AU.
40: Which is your favorite original character, and why?
I have a few original characters. I guess my favorites would be the twins, David and Preston, from a story I wrote in high school called “Buried Alive.”
41: What do you do when characters don’t follow the outline?
Go with it.
42: Do you enjoy making your characters suffer?
No, but sometimes that’s just how the story goes.
43: Have you ever killed a main character?
Not actively in the story.
44: What’s the weirdest character concept you’ve ever come up with?
I don’t have one lol
45: What’s your favorite character name?
Cassidy
46: Describe your perfect writing space.
In the mountains, a sunny day, on my back deck
47: If you could steal one character from another author and make then yours, who would it be and why?
Oooooooooooooooo in the fanfiction world, I really love Marin’s (ssides) University!AU versions of the Sides.
I really like the characters in The Book Thief, To Kill a Mockingbird, and East of Eden. I just really like the personalities and characterizations of those characters.
48: If you could write the next book of any series, which one would it be, and what would you make the book about?
I’d start a new A Series of Unfortunate Events series about little Beatrice.
49: If you could write a collaboration with another author, who would it be and what would you write about?
I’d love to collab with so many writers I’ve read on here.
Mmmmmm IRL though it’d be too embarrassing to try to write with a published author because I’d get too nervous and doubt everything I did.
50: If you could live in any fictional world, which would it be?
NARNIA

fanfic author meme
my friend tagged me to answer all the questions in a fanfic author meme, and it is primarily for the Final Fantasy XIII fandom, so it’s located under a read more. :)
Fanfic Ask Meme
A: How did you come up with the title to [fic of your choice]?
Most of my fic names come from lyrics in songs that have to do with the story content, no matter how vague. Poetry also makes its way in there, and on the very rare occasion, something I come up with that sounds pleasantly appropriate.
A Series of Firsts was the only one in the past five or so years to get a title that accurately and simply described the story, something which I typically never do.
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
No, actually. I write primarily angst and I have a very satisfying and healthy life, so… it all just comes out from somewhere? I am not entirely sure where.
C: What character do you identify with most?
Most recently, maybe Makoto from Persona 5? Growing up I felt that I had all these expectations on me from my family and the adults in my education (which I totally dug myself into by being smart and eager to please) and I always wanted to just say “fuck it” and stop caring about pleasing others and being the perfect student. Which took me until my third year in university to actually achieve but hey, better late than never.
D: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with cause I’m a vampire smile (you’ll meet a sticky end)?
The title comes directly from the song ‘Vampire Smile’ by Kyla La Grange and it entirely fits so well for that fic. I definitely had it on replay the entire time I was writing.
E: If you wrote a sequel to Serendipity, what would it be about?
EDITED because I wrote for A Series of Firsts instead oops.
Serendipity would have a much shorter sequel - just lots of the gang being happy, of Fang and Vanille traipsing around the world, Yeul living in a big city and being amazed by all of it, Serah and Snow in a small French village with rose bushes and a kid or two and Light living in the same village with Hope being the Cool Aunt. Snow would have a motorcycle (and try to modify it to have a baby seat). Sazh would have a farm with chickens and livestock and live with his son and finally get the life he deserves. Maybe he runs into the reborn version of his wife and she remembers him. And live happily ever after.
F: Care to share a favorite hurt/comfort fic?
I don’t have one :( I even went through my favorites on both FFnet and AO3. I just like anything that makes me cry, and I cry easily, and sad fics make me happy.
G: Care to share a favorite crack fic?
I rarely read crack but an amazing one I’ve been reading is Sincerely, Me by Ignis_Sassentia and SharkbaitHooHaHa on AO3. It is a FF15 texting fic and just phenomenal.
H: How would you describe your style?
Lots of run on sentences and disjointed narration. I prefer writing drabbles because I feel like that format lets me get away with using the style better. I like using metaphors and a good balance between simple and more flowery language.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?
Angst. All the angst. Also, if a fandom has some sort of divine figure in it, then you can bet it’s gonna be worked into my fics – usually as either a passive or active antagonist. This is a big reason why I still love writing for FF13 so much, because thank you, Bhunivelze. And Etro. Mwyn too. I need to write more Mwyn.
J: Write or describe an alternative ending to any Bhunivelze!Hope and Etro!Light fic.
I said to the sun, tell me about the big bang is my favourite out of the few (two?) I’ve written where both take after the divinity. Alternate ending to that one would be, their friends catch on and end them before they can succeed in destroying and recreating the world.
For just Bhuni!Hope, of which I wrote more, eve as my latest one – I considered Light actually realizing what’s happening within the fic itself and being the one to kill him. She would realize this in the midst of a relationship Bhuni!Hope has succeeded in constructing with her, and there would be lots of tears, and horror, and the symbolic knife stuck in Hope’s torso.
Gosh, I just can’t give you guys happy things, can I?
K: What's the angstiest idea you've ever come up with?
The premise in A Series of Firsts, where Hope and Snow have to come to terms with failing the world, and Light dying and becoming the Goddess, and then having to witness Light and Serah as children and then take them in, and do all in their power to prevent Orphan, and having them be family and Hope has a child with Light and then… they fail. And have to start all over again.
I’ve always appreciated time loops.
L: What's the weirdest AU you've ever come up with?
I discussed an idea with RainbowSerenity about a texting crack fic in the new world about the gang placing bets on how long it will take for Light and Hope to get together, and just being little shits in general (with a very liberal use of emoticons) and then Light and Hope are just there, like… should we tell them? When do you think they’ll realize we’ve been together for months now?
Also, an appearance by Bhunivelze via repeated friend requests to Light’s Facebook through a multitude of accounts. The sentence “how the hell does he have service in the deep ass of space!?” is written down in my phone.
I have to be in a very specific mood to write something of this sort, haha.
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?
The AU fic above. Hope finding the temple with Light’s statue in 13-2, and ritually visiting it before it becomes inaccessible. Also, a fic I will shortly be releasing on – once again – Bhuni!Hope.
Outside of the 13 fandom, I have further ideas for my 14 OCs and how they meet, fall in love, and then go their own ways. An idea for an original fantasy story I’ve been sitting on (I have the entire plot written out, too…).
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?
If someone could read my mind and finish that one FF8 fic I started in 2007 and never finished, despite rewriting like three times, it would be a miracle. The OC I created for it has grown alongside me all this time and I treasure her deeply, even though her story will never be properly finished.
O: How do you begin a story--with the plot, or the characters?
I usually start with a plot idea I want to write about and then the characters usually write themselves.
P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an "architect" or a "gardener"? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)
The way I write my oneshots, the most planning I ever do is I have the final sentence in mind and then I have to write to get to that point. When I write (wrote) multi-chaptered stories, I typically had the plot mapped out and sometimes things would just write themselves in the process.
Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?
That FF8 fic. I don’t even want to talk about it, haha. Also a Narnia fic I was writing and had like, two sequels planned for. I am just horrible at finishing things.
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
Not really? I always write however and whatever I want. I really admire attica on FFnet, though – their writing takes me breath away.
Also Sylvia Plath and E.E Cummings make my heart skip a beat.
S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?
Bhuni!Hope, and Etro!Light. As has been made obvious.
T: Any fandom tropes you can't stand?
Whenever Snow is being written as useless or dumb. That’s my biggest one.
U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven't tried yet.
…Light and Snow, very brief in the original 13. I actually had something written down when the game first came out, but never properly wrote it.
Don’t kill me. It would be very sad where they share their angst over Serah and then realize what they’re doing and part ways.
V: A secondary (or underrated) character you want to see more of in fic?
Yeul. YEEUUULLL. I love Yeul. So much.
W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?
Specific ones.
X: A character you enjoy making suffer.
All of them. Primarily, Light, Hope, and Yeul.
Y: A character you want to protect.
All of them. From me.
Z: Major character death--do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can't tolerate?
I love reading it if it’s written well, and I’ve never written specifics just background plot. There aren’t any deaths I can’t tolerate, because if done well, it can throw things into a nice twist.
