Headcanons: Being the Nonbinary (Second) Youngest Pritchett Sibling

Growing up, there may have been signs that you were a little ‘different’; maybe not.

If there were, Jay chose to ignore it.

Some suspicion would only arise after Mitch’s coming out(s).

Whenever you realised you were nonbinary, I imagine that the first of your family members who you would come out to would be Mitch, who would, in his own repressed way, support you in any way he could.

I don’t know if Claire would necessarily understand, but she’d still be supportive.

When you come out to your parents, they’re both confused, but Dede is immediately accepting and supportive (and Jay always insists that it was just to spite him).

If anyone in her family needs any clarification on anything (it’s typically her siblings), she’ll be the first to explain things.

I feel like she’s very supportive of and knowledgeable about trans and nonbinary people and the issues they face (just between you and me, I headcanon Alex as queer, so that’s probably why).

Your chief supporters in your family are Mitch and Cam.

Whenever you need to vent about things that the rest of your family just won’t get, they’re always happy to lend a listening ear, especially Cam.

Although Mitchell cares so much about you, he struggles to be as openly loving and kind as Cam.

Musicals Aren't Supposed to Have Encores | Luke Dunphy x fem!reader

Based on season 4 episode 14 of Modern Family: "A Slight at the Opera."

Warnings: None? Two eighth-graders kiss a few times... does that need a warning?

Word count: 2,052

Summary: Luke and Y/n step up to new roles in "The Phantom of the Opera" performance their middle school is presenting. Cam doesn't know what to do when the audience calls for an encore at the end of the show.

A.N.: Notes vs notes became a very hard thing to keep track of while writing this. Because I had notes, as in musical notes that you sing or play. And notes, as in theatre notes, directions as to what to do, and ideas of what needs to change. The struggle of being both a music kid and a theatre kid is real.

"What do you mean Genevieve is sick?" Cam exclaimed to the girl's mother over the phone, "First our Phantom falls ill, and now our Christine? Does the world think our theater department is filled with actors?... No, of course, I'm sorry. I hope she feels better soon."

Theatre never goes exactly as planned. You're bound to have bumps along the way. Cam was prepared for that. He had backup props and backup lavaliers. What he hadn't prepared for was for both his Phantom and his Christine to get sick.

Having already found and lost hope in having Luke play the Phantom, Cam felt he was running low on ideas and patience. So, he turned to his assistant director/stage manager: Y/n.

"Well, Y/n. What do you think?" Cam asked.

"About which?" she replied, "We've got a couple problems right now."

"Either. Any. All. I don't know," he was obviously at the end of his wits.

"I think that you should show Manny the video you have of Luke so that he can see what you want him to be doing," she offered.

"Alright," Cam agreed, calling Manny over to watch the recording, "And what about Christine? I hate to say it, but Genevieve was the only soprano we had who could--"

"Luke has to do it," Manny cut in, before rushing off to undo the damage he had done.

"Well, that solves that problem," Y/n said cheerfully.

"I doubt any of them even know all the words, let alone the right notes, the right timing..." Cam trailed off, "Luke could you run 'The Phantom of the Opera,' please?"

"The whole show?" Luke asked, surprised.

"No, the song," Cam clarified with an exasperated shake of his head that looked much more like Mitchell's mannerisms than his own.

"Uh, sure, yeah. I don't know my cue without Christine's part, though."

"Y/n, could you sing Christine's parts until I figure out a replacement?" Cam requested turning to her.

"Well, I don't normally... but I guess I could... I do know the words, and the notes, and the timing and blocking... Sure." She replied.

The two walked over to the piano to practice. Y/n hadn't gotten more than four lines in when the whole theater was staring at her. Cam realized that maybe his Christine had been hiding in plain sight just like his Phantom. Her vibrato was perfect. Her voice paired perfectly with Luke's. Y/n and Luke looked up shocked when the entire ensemble came in perfectly on cue to find that Cam was conducting them like a choir. Y/n smiled at Luke, as they turned so the entire cast was rehearsing together. When they got to the part where Christine climbs up in notes, everyone's jaws hung open. Y/n herself was a tad surprised at how cleanly the notes came from her chest. Sure she loved to sing. Sure she had practiced this entire musical what felt like a million times. But to hear it in a theater. To hear how creepy her friend Luke could sound, perfectly portraying the Phantom. To hear the song all around her. It felt unreal. Especially when she got to the E6. She knew that for Genevieve they had lowered it, but she also knew that she could hit it. So, she ditched the note Cam had given the original Christine and chose instead to follow the regular notes of the song.

"Y/n," Cam started once the song was over, "You need to play Christine. Your voice is perfect. You know all the directions I gave. You understand what I'm trying to do with this show. Please, we need you as Christine."

They were very lucky that the costumes, which had been brought in for different actors, fit Y/n and Luke almost perfectly. Everything after casting Y/n had been rushed chaos. They didn't exactly have a replacement stage manager after all and she had offered to continue with both roles.

"You look really pretty," Luke commented as she stood up and handed him his pinned cloak.

"Thank you," she replied, a slight blush creeping onto her cheeks, "you should wear suits more often, you look quite dashing. I'd lose the mask though, your face is too cute to be covered."

"Alright," Cam called, all the actors gathering around, "Uh... Luke, Y/n if I could talk to you for a moment after we're done. Alright, everyone, this is going to be great, there's nothing more we can do at this point. I know we've had a few hiccups, but I think we've come out stronger. So, good luck. Just, don't think about the audience. Be loose, speak clearly and enunciate, and have fun. Break a leg!"

When he had dismissed everyone else, Y/n and Luke walked over to Cam.

"Ah, good," he began, "I just want you to know how proud I am of you. And I wanted to make sure you didn't have any questions. Last minute confusions?"

The show was going perfectly. The audience was already captivated and they were only five songs in. When the iconic opening notes to "The Phantom of the Opera" began to play Y/n could feel people shift in their seats. She felt the pressure to perform the song well but didn't find herself nervous. "We don't have an encore," Cam quickly whispered to the cast, "Musicals aren't supposed to have encores. But they seem to really want one, does anyone have anything?"

"We do," Luke said, looking at the girl next to him.

"We do?" Y/n questioned, her eyebrows raised.

"Sure, 'Something to Believe In,'" he told her, before turning to Cam, "From Newsies."

"Are you sure?"

"We know the whole thing by heart," Y/n assured him.

Cam walked out in front of the curtain.

"Well, ladies and gentlefolk. You asked for an encore, so an encore you will receive," as Cam spoke, Manny ran to tell the pianist what the encore would be.

Cam continued, "But first, I'd like to thank my terrific cast for getting over humongous hurdles, especially my incredible leads, who only stepped into their roles today, having previously not been a part of the cast, but the crew. And who, just now, pulled an extra song out of their hats, like theatre magicians,"

He looked at the pianist asking, "We're ready?"

The pianist confirmed he was, indeed, ready.

"This is 'Something to Believe In' from Newsies," Cam said with a smile, before walking off stage.

The curtain had risen again, revealing that the mobile set pieces had been removed. There stood Luke and Y/n, the former of which had changed slightly: he had ditched his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, messed up his hair, and was standing so the audience could only see the normal side of his face. Their plan was to run the scene from first line to exit, and that's exactly what they did.

Sitting in the audience, Alex and Haley quietly squealed to each other. For years, they had been having monthly movie nights, just Haley, Alex, Luke, and Y/n. And each month, they watched one of four movies. Newsies being one of those movies. They had often joked that Y/n was like Katherine, joining another family. Ohmygod! How did all the readers react to Chris being sexiest man alive?!

Shy was like “I’ve been telling you this whole time and I knew it. And it took them long enough to realize.” She did make him a cake. A sweater she made him actually made it into the photo shoot and into the magazine. Chris made sure she got credited for making that sweater.

Snowboarder cringed because that’s her dad. He’s a fucking meatball. He isn’t sexy to her. He’s a handsome dude on some occasions but nothing more. She had a buddy film her reaction which is her screaming and launching herself off a cliff. Don’t worry, there’s snow below and she’s already broken her arm.

Traumatized Daughter just had a long sigh. This wasn’t something she was expecting to happen.

Star Wars Actress was throwing him a party and was claiming “THATS MY MAN!” while Presley is like “THATS MY DADDY!”

Roomie sent him flowers with a crown and a little note that says congrats.

Model bought a bunch of magazines. Made some calls to have some of the photos blown up and framed. She’s in the process of making sure that every single one of the properties they have will have said photos. She’s also planning a big celebration on that Friday. Popstar Evans laughed because excuse me, what? That’s her brother. He’s a handsome man but sexy? That’s fucking disgusting. She does send him flowers. Henry sent him a bigger bouquet and put on the card “you fucking did it, you son of a bitch. I’m so proud of you. xoxo - your one true love.”

Haley Dunphy rolled her eyes.

BFF Kard was like “I FUCKING TOLD YOU AND YOU DIDNT FUCKING BELIEVE ME!” Plus she knew a long time ago. She knew the second he got the call. She was at the shoot. She posed him a couple times. She fluffed his hair. She gave him pep talks. She made him laugh. She composed an outfit.

Love of his life was like “and you come home to me? People’s Sexiest Man Alive?” She couldn’t believe it.

Pageant Star put a crown on his head and said, “there’s my sexiest man alive.” She had a big smile on her face.

Mama didn’t realize until a week later. She had been busy with kids and she’s been working her ass off too. She hadn’t been on social media. Also, Chris never mentioned it to her when they talk nor anybody else. She’s on the Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her latest project when Kelly tells her “congratulations on your husband being crowned the sexiest man alive last week.” Mama said “what do you mean?!” Then the magazine cover is on the screen. She literally said “what the fuck?! He didn’t tell me shit!” She walked off set and got her phone from her manager. She proceeded to call Chris. She was sent to voicemail. Kelly is laughing hysterically. Mama said “you knocked me up. —-First, you wormed your way into my life with Jackie. You then knocked me up. Trapped me! You dragged my ass to Boston to raise your mini-me’s together. You married me. And you mean to never tell me that you’re the Sexiest Man Alive? I had to find out from Kelly on the show. -I’m just done with you. Love ya but good day to you, you meatball.” Mama is just so exhausted.

Rockstar Neighbor sent him a fruit basket and leopard thong.

High School Teacher is dreading going in the next day for school.

Russian said to him “don’t be getting an eggo on me. You still a meatball. My meatball.”

Italian kissed both his cheeks and then lips. “I’m proud you got this title. You deserve it, Bambino,” she said.

Sailor knows she’s going to get shit when she comes back from leave. She can handle the America’s Ass because that’s hilarious. But Sexiest Man Alive? Try the Dumbest— the Lamest— the Boringest- the Annoyingest Man Alive. That’s her big brother, he’s not anywhere near sexy. But she did go out to dinner with him and the Rock with a few others to celebrate his title along with her being back stateside.

Kardashian has shirts made. Everyone is sent shirts. She’s got the pictures blown up and in her office (her mom does too). She surprised him on set with a cake. She humbly put in her Instagram bio “married to the sexiest man alive.”

News Reporter happily made the announcement for those who missed hadn’t seen it yet and bragged that it is her man.

Teen costar took to social media and asked for an immediate recall.

Animator sent him a drawing of Dodger with the sash that says “Goodest Boy Alive.” With Chris standing next to him in his own sash.

"Okay, done with this boring chatting, move over Alex!" Haley interrupted the conversation I was having with Alex. "Oh my god, Haley! You always do this. Ugh!" Alex groaned in the background.

"So~ How are you doing on this fine evening?" Haley glances behind me, presumably at Manny. "I'm doing fine, thank you."

We just sat there for a few minutes. Until I got up and went to grab a drink.

"What are you doing? I was doing fine with him!" Alex hissed at Haley, who just shrugged. "And I just made it better by stopping this conversation." Haley replied with confidence.

Alex groaned, crossing her arms. "I am trying to get to know them, but you're ruining it with your flirting!"

"Oh! I was NOT flirting!" "You asked Manny for advice, which might I add, failed completely." Haley and Alex sighed in unison.

Haley's phone started ringing, "Oh it's Dylan, I have to take this!" And then she ran to pick up her phone. "Of course, she always does this." Alex says to no one in particular.

"So, I'm ordering pizza. What do you guys like?" I walked into the living room where everyone was gathered around, playing what seemed like charades.

Luke was the first to jump up, yelling, "Pepperoni pizza!" "I'll share with Luke." I nodded at Luke and Manny and glanced at Alex and Haley.

"We can share a pizza, Y/N." Haley winked at me, but got hit in the shoulder by Alex. "We'll just share a margherita pizza please." Alex corrected her.

I nodded and put it in the app.

"And now we wait. Can I join the game?"

"Uh, yea! Come join my team-" "Our team." Alex interrupted Haley.

I sat down next to Alex and Manny stood up and grabbed a piece of paper.

The doorbell rang, making me stand up and walk to the door.

"Pizza for Pritchett-Tucker?" The delivery man said with a bored tone. I nodded and accepted the boxes. "How much was this again?" "$75" I handed him the money and closed the door.

"Pizza!" Like ants they begun to swarm me as I handed them their pizza's.

"So, how is school? I need to know before I start." We chuckled, "It's really difficult." Luke told me. "I don't think they meant you Luke." Alex cut in. That made a few of us laugh.

After about 45 minutes we were almost finished with our pizza's. Luke sat at the bar, but it didn't seem like he was awake. It didn't seem like Alex and Manny were awake either, so it was just Haley and me.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable today. I didn't mean to." Haley apologized, sitting on a stool in the kitchen. "It's fine, just, please don't flirt with me." Haley nodded and took a sip of her drink.

I refilled my glass with some whiskey and took a seat on a stool next to Haley, "So, I heard you talking on the phone earlier. Who was that?"

Haley looked at me and said, "Why does it matter to you?" Haley chuckled. "No," I laughed "I just think I should know a little about you. Now that I'm your cousin, you know." We both let out a little laugh.

"Uh, yeah, that was Dylan."

By the time Haley and I finished our it was already midnight. "I think we should clean up, our parents will be here soon." Haley nodded and went to the living room to clean up the pizza boxes, while I cleaned up the alcohol and glasses.

Alex walked into the kitchen, looking very groggy. "Hey, what're you doing?" "Cleaning up, our parents will be home soon." I finished putting away the alcohol, but the glasses were still on the counter.

"Did you guys have a drink? I could use some water, mind grabbing a glass for me?" Alex rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. "Yea, here." I handed her a glass of water.

Haley returned with the boxes and empty glasses, throwing the boxes in the bin and putting the glasses in the dishwasher.

A little later the front door opened and the parents came in.

Alex exits the room, and their comments are idiotic per usual. You glance back at the two. "You're both idiots."

Manny nearly gasps, drawing his inner Gloria energy. "I'm offended you would put me in the same category as your boyfriend."

You nearly roll your eyes. "Did either of you notice Joe was in the car with us or outside the door messing with one of your plants?"

Manny and Luke turn to one another, the latter shrugs.

"No, right? That's why Alex was saying those things, not because she's sending mixed signals, it's because your little brother slash young uncle is adorable." You smile, holding your hand out for him. "Come on, baby Joe."

You turn back towards the two once you get the youngin in your arms. "Now, if you'll excuse me, someone needs to clean himself up before his mama comes up here and sees the dirt."

Your boyfriend pouts. "Why does he get your attention?"

You glance back at Luke, "get a baby and maybe you'll be cute."

He smirks, taking a step towards you. "Oh my- Luke no. I'm not going to have a baby with you."

You two turn and see everyone's attention on your conversation. "Oh, great."

"It's not like I made everyone look at us."

You narrow your eyes at him.

"Ay, what happened to Joe?" Gloria asks, seeing how dirty her son is.

"He decided to take a deep dive into one of the plants upstairs. So, I was going to see what I could clean up before determining if he needs a bath yet or not."

"That's so nice of you, thank you."

"Mr. Dunphy?"

"How many times have I told you to call me, Phil?"

"When I'm not mad at your son, we'll talk."

"But your never not mad at him."

You thin your lips, raise your brows, and tilt your head as if to say I told you so.

He sighs, looking up at his son. "Luke?"

The teen avoids making eye contact with anyone.

"He needs to go out and do something with himself."

"Ah, I got it. He needs to practice his magic."

An evil smirk dances across your lips. "Exactly. See you, baby."

"Wait- no." His shoulders slump as your figure disappears into the bathroom.

"Really, Luke? Here of all places?" Claire shakes her head.

He shrugs, "what can I say? She's hot."

Summary: in which alex asks her family to be normal when she introduces y/n, her girlfriend, for the first time. they didn't do it.

Warnings: fluff.

Alex sighed for the sixth time, her eyes glued on the screen with Y/N's chat open. Haley walked into the kitchen and heard her sister, she could see the stress on Alex's face.

"It's only dinner, Alex. Stop worrying." Haley reassured her, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge and walking towards the cushion where her sister is. "She met us before."

"Yeah, don't remind me that." Alex muttered, blocking her phone and throwing it at her lap. "This time is different, Haley. It's the whole family." She pointed out, biting her nails.

Haley grabbed her hand, stopping the damage she is doing on her nails. "Well, if she didn't run away with dad, there's no necessity to worry." She tried to light the mood, sipping from the bottle.

Alex let out a small smile, remembering when her dad said some of his silly jokes and Y/N laughed, then her father leaned on her and said that she needed to keep that girl. Alex knew that there is no necessity to worry, not when Y/N had the approval from her parents and siblings. Claire was sceptical at first, someone dating her daughter or any of her children was difficult for her, but after meeting Y/N, Claire adores her too.

Maybe Alex is being a little paranoid.

"You are right," the brunette murmurs, looking at her old sister and giving a grateful smile. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Haley said smiling. "Well, are you going with that clothes?" Alex rolled her eyes, used to Haley's criticism of her style.

"No, Haley. I will change, but if you want to choose the clothes for me,-" Alex was interrupted by Haley excited squeal, not letting her finish and grabbing her hand, the older sister dragged Alex upstairs. "It's my fault to not explain to her how sarcasm works." Alex muttered to herself.

"Alex! You need to pick up Y/N. Hurry up!" Claire yells from the living room.

"I know. I'm grabbing my keys car!" Alex went there, making Claire frown because she thought her daughter was in her bedroom.

"Let's go then. We will see you in your granddad's house." Her mother said, disappearing in the bathroom momentarily.

Alex scoffed. "You seem more excited to see Y/N than having dinner with the whole family." She mutters, leaning on the frame with a ghost of a smug smirk.

Claire looks at her with a raised eyebrow. Alex rolls her eyes and walks to the front door. "Also, you look beautiful, honey!" Her mother complimented her, coming back to the bathroom.

"Haley picked it up." Alex states, pushing her glasses up and closing the door, going to her car.

She drove towards Y/N's home. They are on vacation, and they would pass a period away from each other. Y/N going to a new job to save some money and Alex doing the same thing, they barely would see that summer.

"You have a dress!" Was the first thing Y/N told Alex when she entered the car.

"Really? Almost two weeks apart and you told me that?" Alex said reproaching while crossing her arm, an indignant look on her face.

Y/N rolls her eyes with a smile. "You look beautiful, Al. I missed you." These words soften Alex's features, the start of a blush creeping on her cheeks.

"You look beautiful too and I missed you." Alex said too, in a low voice. Their arms go down and put her right hand on the gear lever, gazing at her girlfriend. Y/N grabs her face between her hands and pecks her lips, receiving a whine from Alex when she separated. "A proper one." She mutters on her mouth, her hand sneaking behind her back and closing the gap in a tender kiss.

They separated after a few minutes, Alex intertwining her hand with hers and caressing the palm of her hand with her thumb. Y/N peck one more time on her lips and hurry her up.

"You don't seem nervous at all. Usually people feel like that." Alex points out, starting the engine and driving to her granddad's big home.

Y/N snorted. "Yeah, like you with mines." She murmurs, Alex scoffs offended. "It was sweet, baby. Alex Dunphy nervous. I will never see you like that again." She said, chuckling and caressing her arm playfully.

Before Alex could answer and give a long explanation, a call from her phone interrupted the moment. She reads the name on the screen and curses under her breath, Y/N looking at her with a teasing smirk. Since she saw Alex doesn't go to answer the call, Y/N presses the green button, gaining an incredulous look from Alex.

"Hi, Ms Dunphy!" Y/N said cheerfully, her eyes never leaving Alex's indignant face.

"Hello, Y/N! How are you? And I told you to call me Claire, sweetie." Claire greets back. They engaged in a conversation, for Alex's dismay. It worsened when Phil, Alex's dad joined the conversation. "Alex, honey I almost forgot. Can you go at home and bring the cake I made last night? I thought Luke grabbed it."

"Oh, I exist again." Alex annoyed said, gaining a slap by her girlfriend on her arm for that. "Yes, mom. I'm on my way." She said in a monotone voice.

"Thank you, darling. Don't be late!" Claire warned them gently and hung up after Y/N's reply.

"She thinks we would have sex in your home?" Y/N asked curious when Alex parked the car.

Alex made a thinking face before getting out. "Maybe you should get in too. I can show you my bedroom." She said in a suggestive tone, making Y/N laugh.

"Nice try, baby. But the first time we make it in your house, there needs to be people. I like the risk." Y/N held her laugh when saw her girlfriend do a grimace.

"Stay here." Alex lowly said and went to her home, letting behind Y/N laughing for her reaction.

Y/N walked to Alex's side when she got out of the car, the cake in her hands. She perceived Alex was nervous, her demeanor radiated it.

"Are you sure about it?" She asks gently, starting to walk to the front door.

Alex looked at her with a confused face but nodded, her left arm finding comfort on Y/N's waist. "Yes. It's... I don't know. I don't want them to make you feel uncomfortable." She half confesses, stopping a few centimeters away from the front door.

Y/N gives her a reassuring smile. "Baby... What would be more embarrassing than my family picking you over me because I'm not that good at that silly game or calling you to ask you if you still are in love with me?" She saw how Alex relaxed a little, a tiny smile on her lips now.

"They are joking when they ask that." Alex said, kissing her cheek.

"Well, maybe I can joke with them just like you joke with my family." Y/N said, seeing Alex nod and resume the way towards the door. She knocks a few times.

Not passed about five seconds that the door opened and revealed a beaming Claire. "Thank you so much girls! Come in." She said, grabbing the cake from Y/N's hands and giving her a quick hug before going to the kitchen.

"Woah. It's really big." Y/N commented, her eyes scanning the place.

"It is." Alex said, closing the door.

"There she is!" Phil exclaimed, walking towards them and engulfing Y/N in a warm hug. Alex's heart melts a little seeing not only her mother, but her father too to have a soft spot for Y/N.

"Hi, Mr Dunphy! Sorry, Phil. I'm glad to see you again." Y/N happily said, correcting herself when Phil gave her a warning look for calling him Mr Dunphy.

They exchanged a few words before the rest of the family came. Haley and Luke approached Y/N to greet her just like their dad. Then, Alex introduced the rest one by one.

"And he is Jay, my grandad." She finishes, seeing her granddad gift her a smile and hug briefly Y/N. It surprises them a little, usually Jay is not a person who shows love publicly easily. Only Gloria and Stella are the lucky ones.

"Hi, Mr Pritchett. Nice to meet you." She said politely, unaware about the gesture received.

"Nice to meet you too, Y/N. Call me Jay, do you? What?" He asked when saw the receiving looks from his family. "Excuse them, they are sometimes weird people." He said in a teasing way, making Y/N chuckle softly.

Then, Y/N's eyes illuminated when she saw Stella approaching, going to greet her immediately. Jay makes a cheerful sound, pointing the scene not only at Alex, to Gloria too, who rolled her eyes and called them to go to sit down.

"I don't know why you are so worried. She has the big boy in her pocket." Haley whispered at Alex, seeing Y/N play with Stella.

Alex thought the same when Haley said these words.

She sat down between Y/N and Luke, meanwhile her girlfriend had at her left part at her mother. They all seem very interested in Y/N, making her questions, something that Claire did ten months ago when they met for the first time. Until her mom, who else, started to say embarrassing stories about Alex, making her blush and shutting her up without success. It's not only her mother, they all joined against her for some reason and recalled the very embarrassing moments about her.

"OKAY! I think she knows all of your stories about me! Can we move on, please?" Alex exploded, throwing her napkin on the table and standing up, walking outside.

The whole table stayed quiet for her outburst. Y/N follows her figure until she disappears. An awkward silence installed, and Claire stood up to go where Alex is. However Y/N stood up and asked her if she could go, something Claire nodded for.

She walked slowly towards the pool, where Alex was sitting with her feet on it, playing with the water. She chose to sit down on her lap, Alex hiding her face on her neck immediately, wrapping her arms on her hips.

"I know for you it is embarrassing... But for me it is really cute." Y/N commented softly, playing with her hair.

Alex frowned, raising her head and letting it to centimeters of hers. "How? For me it isn't only embarrassing. It's humiliating. Some of them I felt out of the family." She confesses, some frustrated tears forming on her eyes.

Y/N softens more, grabbing her cheeks with both hands and looking directly into her eyes. "Maybe, but they treasure those moments because you are involved. I don't think they wanted to feel humiliated. I only see pride when they speak about you." She wipes the tears that fell for her cheeks with a smile. "I can't wait to say this type of thing to our children. God, I'm going to embarrass them so much." She said looking dazed, making Alex laugh.

For Alex, every time Y/N spoke about their future and she included her, forming a family, she thinks she could do the same all again if she would meet you every time. She leaned and captured her lips in a sealing kiss, a promise one.

A noise made them separate and look where it came. Y/N smiled but Alex painted an exasperated expression on her face, seeing her dad with a phone directed towards them, the sound was a photo he took of them.

Y/N stood up and tended a hand towards her, who grabbed it and they walked hand in hand. Cam was a little emotional, Mitchell gave them an apologetic smile. Gloria went to hug them both, the rest quickly following.

"Y/N, do you have a sister for Manny? I don't trust anyone for him. He is too good and someone like you is what he deserves." Everyone let out a laugh for it, less Manny who protested for it. Maybe Gloria said it to distract or not, but Alex thanked her with a look. It means the whole family approves of her girlfriend.

"Oh! I have a story," Y/N said when they separated, walking in. They looked at her curiously, Alex confused. "The story about me and Alex meet. It's so funny." She said cheerfully, clapping with her hands and ignoring the whine and the begging look Alex threw at her.

They all cheered, wanting to know everything.

Request - Luke Dunphy x male reader. Where Luke and the reader are best friends but became boyfriends over time. They're so the reader comes over the Dunphy house to hang out or spend the night with his boyfriend but the family think that they're just best friends even if they caught them cuddling on the couch or on the bed. But they then they caught Luke and the reader kissing. Making both Luke and the reader explain to them how they've been dating for a month now and laughing so hard how so oblivious his family is.

You are at Luke’s house and he is happy to spend time with you. You are in the kitchen and Luke gave you a a peck on the lips and you start to smile.

“So happy you are here” Luke smiled.

“Me too. I missed you” You said.

You went away for a few days, Luke is happy that you're back. Luke's family doesn't know that you are his boyfriend, it's his first serious relationship.

“I don't know how to tell them, that we are dating,” Luke said.

“Maybe have them all together and tell them,” You said.

You and Luke have been friends for many years. You have been dating Luke in secret for almost a month. You are Luke’s first boyfriend.

“Is your sister Haley okay? She is acting strange” You asked.

“Haley and Dylan are mad at each other. They are getting annoying, but I think they will get back together” Luke said.

Luke was about to kiss but he heard Phil and Clarie and Luke moved away from you fast. Claire and Phil greeted you

“Y/n are you staying for dinner?” Claire asked.

“Yeah, I will stay for dinner” You smiled.

“Dad, why are you wearing a jacket in the house?” Luke asked.

“He has been watching every high school musical,” Claire said.

Phil starts to dance and sing.

You try not to laugh loud and you are speechless, that he knows the step.

He grabbed your hand and you leave the kitchen.

“My dad is obsessed with high school musical. I have seen him practice the steps before” Luke said.

Cam and Micthell go back and forth talking about your sexuality. You are asking Phil facts about high school musical and he is getting it right. Luke feels embarrassed about it again Phil starts to dance. Phil did make you dance with him but you didn't know the steps.

“This is so embarrassing,” Luke said.

“He made me watch every movie with him,” Clarie said.

Later, you try to hang out with Luke but Lily wanted to tell you her new joke. You do spend time with Lily then she went play with someone else. You go inside the house then a bit later Luke went inside the house. You are in his room and he pulled you closer to him. He starts to kiss you and you are kissing him back...

“I wanted to kiss you all night,” Luke said.

“Me too” You smiled.

Luke doesn't stop kissing you and he starts to smile. Claire almost caught you and Luke kissing but you pushed him away.

“Boys, dinner is ready. Why are you two up here?” Claire asked.

“I-I...” Luke starts to stutter.

“Luke was showing me this funny video that he found online. A guy went to a coffee shop and he lets out a huge fart-” You said.

Claire didn't let you finish.

“That’s not funny that gross” Clarie said.

“It's a guy thing. You wouldn't understand since you are a girl” Luke said.

“Mhmm, well come downstairs and eat,” Clarie said.

Claire left the bedroom and you sighed in relief.

“That was a good idea to lie about farting,” Luke said.

“Not sure why, but that's the only thing that popped into my head” You smiled.

Luke gave you a peck on the lips and he smiled. You and Luke go downstairs for dinner and you are joining them for dinner. But you and Luke hold hands under the table.

Everyone else is outside and you are on the couch with Luke. He put his arm around you and you moved closer to him. You and Luke are watching tv then he turned to you and starts to kiss you. It started to rain and everyone goes inside the house, they caught you and Luke kissing each other.

“Why, are you and Y/n kissing each other?” Jay asked.

“We all want to know why,” Phil said.

You are starting to feel nervous.

“We have been dating for a month,” Luke said.

“A month!?” Everyone said.

“Yeah, we have been dating for a month. And no one figured it out?” Luke said.

“No, we just thought you two were just friends,” Clarie said.

Luke starts to laugh.

“Why are you laughing?” Alex asked.

“I thought you or someone would have figured it out, to be honest,” Luke said

“We support the relationship,” Phil said.

“Really?” You said.

“Yes, we support the relationship. We know that you would make Luke happy and that is important to us” Clarie said.

You smiled at them. Then Cam and Micthell talk to the camera... About you and Luke.

You and Luke are at the mall since you are his first boyfriend, it will be his first holding hands in public with a guy.

“We don't have to do this,” You said.

“I want to do it, Y/n. I'm not ashamed of you” Luke said.

“People will stare and some could say something bad,” You said.

“I know. But I don't want to hide our relationship anymore and you are my boyfriend and I want everyone to know that” Luke said.

You and Luke smiled at each other. He gently grabbed your hand and he is feeling nervous about it. Now, you and Luke start to walk around the mall, some people did stare but just kept walking.

Alex Dunphy x half deaf! reader - accidental confesses

Deaf in the left ear.

You and Alex weren't very close, you were close with Haley. Haley invited you to have a family dinner. I had a bad habit of accidently staring at people for too long. That was happening with Alex I kept staring at her. "So YN what do you do for fun?" Claire asked. "I'm actually in college, Caltech" i said putting my hand over my mouth "Oh, really you know Alex there she also goes to Caltech...also i have noticed that your loud" Claire said cutting her food and looking at me then Alex. "Mom leave him alone he's deaf in one of his ears" I decided to quickly change the subject "I've seen you around before were on the same floor" I said smiling and looking at Alex she smiled back.

She smiled back and I started to stare at her. After the dinner Haley and her parents had to go to their grandparents for a bit they are bringing me later so Alex offered to look after me at the house while we were waiting. "Why do you stare so much?" She asked fixing her glasses. "Sorry have a habit for staring" I said loudly "I never said I had a problem with it." She said walking over and sitting on the couch "Your smart for someone who is friends with Haley" Alex stated. "We met at a party and she thought i was cute. Literally probably only one of the reasons she wants to be friends with me" I laughed. She nodded smiling. We then heard the door open and joined them in the car to their grandparents.

When we got there i was introduced to Gloria, Jay, Joe and Stella. Haley had long wondered off, i felt awkward so i sat on the couch while everyone else was outside. i messed around with my hands looking down at them. I heard footsteps and moved to look like i was having some such of fun "Why aren't with Haley?" I looked up and saw Alex sitting on the other couch. "She looked like she was having fun and i didn't want to drag her down." I smiled awkwardly "Well i'm bored so wanna head back to Caltech?" She smiled i nodded and stood up. "I'm going to tell Claire quickly" She ran off slightly and ran back "I didn't let her speak, lets go before she starts talking" She grabbed her bag opened the door and left with me following behind, she ubered for us and we got back to the dormrooms "Wanna head to mines i don't have a roommate" I said she nodded and started walking to my dormroom and opening it showing gaming stuff and random pieces of paper and the Tv in front of the bed. "Sorry it's so messy" I started to pick up notes and doodlings "Is that a drawing of me and Haley?" I turned around and looked at the drawing "Oh yeah i drew that a while ago. I'll throw it away-" She quickly moved it when i tried to grab it "No, i like it" She said "Wanna sit and watch a movie?" I said fixing my bed She nodded and we decided to sit and watch little women.

"Alex said she was going to her dorm why isnt she answering" Claire said still knocking "She left with YN she might be with them" Clarie stopped knocking "Which one does he stay in" Haley started walking and looked at the light next to my dorm door and unlocked the door. She walked in on the bright screen and us basically cuddling in the bed. She grabbed a pillow that had fallen of the bed and threw it at us. i woke up Alex still fast asleep "Ow Haley!" I said whisper shouting "Oh hey, mr and mrs Dunphy" I waved "What were you two doing" Haley said giving me and Alex a look "What? No we weren't doing what you think. We just sat and watched little women" They gave me a look i felt arms wrapped around my waist "Come back to sleep" she dragged me back down and kissed my cheek lazily

Dating Luke Dunphy would include...

just like Luke, your relationship would be chaotic

you didn't quite know when you started dating, it just happened

but you didn't question it because with luke it feels easy

You would spend a lot of time at his house because his parents seemed to approve of you a lot more than your parents approved of him

which means you are usually tied up in whatever Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker-Delgado nonsense is happening

outside of this though, Luke, although he has his moments, likes the calm

his favourite thing to do is to lie down and just talk about nothing and everything all at once.

he also likes to have his hair played with during this but he will deny it if asked

Movie nights are super common

You both try to find the worst movies to watch (velocopastor makes a frequent appearance)

Haley lets you borrow dresses when you go somewhere a bit nicer on dates

When Luke is working at the country club, he invites you down of an evening as he gets a discount on the food there

It’s one of the few places you are less likely to be disturbed so he favours here above most other places

He has also learnt not to leave you alone with Manny for too long

He kept going on about how “a fine temptress such as yourself shouldn’t be burdened with a creature like Luke”

Most of all though, dating Luke means that you have a second family who will always be there

“ARE WE SURE THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?” Haley asks as the family of 4 travels through the Caltech hallways.

“Oh yes, of course” Claire waves her hand at her eldest. “Why wouldn’t she be happy to see her family for the first time in forever”

Meanwhile, the very girl they planned to surprise wasn’t thinking about them at all. In fact, the worst thing she could think of was having her family arrive.

A few weeks into Caltech, Alex had been feeling very lonely and isolated from her classmates. That is until (Y/N) (L/N) entered the picture and was like a breath of fresh air. The two had went on a couple dates, enough to declare themselves official, and were currently laying on Alex’s bed watching a movie.

They had just begun to relax when they heard a knock on her door. “Um special delivery for Alex Dunphy,” Phil says in a goofy voice and they both sit up.

“Is that my dad?” Alex says obviously disturbed and already scurrying out of bed towards the door.

“Ooh, do I finally get to meet the parents?” her girlfriend asks and Alex’s eyes widen.

“No! Just hide under the blankets or something. They won’t be able to see you up there”

(Y/N) rolls her eyes and covers herself with the blanket. “Why don’t you just ask me to go into the closet?” She mumbles to herself as the door opens.

The Dunphys yell surprise and Alex pretends to be excited. The family invites themselves inside and starts looking around the room.

“So… what are you guys doing here?” Alex asks nervously.

Claire laughs and hugs her daughter. “We just wanted to see how you were doing! Making sure you didn’t hole yourself up and get lonely”

Alex takes the hug though visibly uncomfortable while the rest of her family prods her with questions. “Did you at least find a boyfriend at this nerd school?” Haley scoffs.

Alex starts to answer but she gets cut off because (Y/N) thinks it’s her cue. “No, but there are other female nerds”

Everyone screams and Alex shakes her head. She gives (Y/N) a glare as to say, “Why would you do that?” but her girlfriend pays no attention and makes her way out of the bed.

“Hi, I’m (Y/N) (L/N). Alex’s girlfriend”

Claire stutters trying to understand what just happened but Phil is the first one to greet her. “Phil Dunphy, nice to meet you” He says happily and the girl smiles back at him.

(Y/N) greets everyone and Luke is the first to say, “So you are a lesbian?”

With that comment, Alex pushes them all out and not-so-respectfully tells them to leave and never come back. “Nice meeting you!,” (Y/N) yells as they walk away and Alex slams the door.

“Why would you do that?” She ask and (Y/N) simply smiles.

“What? They loved me!” She defends and Alex rolls her eyes.

“But they will never ever let this go”

(Y/N) wraps an arm around her girlfriend. “Then I guess it’s a good thing I’ll be here forever”
