Childhood Crushes M.A

Easily manipulated was not a description Y/N L/N’s would associate with herself, in fact the y/h/c young woman wouldn’t describe herself as someone who was easily manipulated at all. She prided herself on being a strong, independent, hardhead young woman and yet she could never say no to Marcus Armstrong. Marcus was a master manipulator especially when it came to her, all the Kiwi Racer had to do was shoot her a dazzling smile or mumble some sweet words paired with gentle kisses against the nape of her neck and she fell for his request hook, line and sinker.

Perhaps that’s what led to her being sandwiched between two drivers on a compact three-seater sofa donning an oversized Dallas Cowboys team jersey. The successful Screaming Meals podcast was filming yet another episode and despite having Red Bull Junior Jak Crawford as their special guest the y/h/c young woman found herself also roped into discussing racing whilst sampling some wine that Clément Novalak an apparent want to be sommelier would no doubt fawn over.

Despite having previous history with the Screaming Meals trio, Y/N had not prepared herself to relive the awkward topic of childhood crushes, Clém & James already regularly took the piss out of her regarding her taste in men (Marcus), the ongoing joke wasn’t malicious, more brotherly teasing but it could get tiring extremely quickly. “So, what about you Y/N/N who was your Disney childhood crush?” the French native asked, his narrowed dark hazel eyes sparkling with mischief from beneath his cap. Y/N could curse the goatee wearing f2 Driver to hell and back, a message that was clearly received as the man in question recoiled slightly from the young woman's burning glare. “I mean I wasn’t really a Disney channel kid… I was more of a Doctor Who & Merlin kid to be honest.” the brit replied with a shrug satisfied with her response, before sighing at the looks from the boys surrounding her, the young woman’s original answer clearly not cutting it. “What did they not have Disney channel in England or something?” Marcus asked in faux ignorance, the microscopic twitch of his upper lip betraying his need to smirk at the girl.

Groaning Y/N pondered for a second adjusting her position on the sofa as she racked her brains, she really hadn't watched Disney channel as a kid aside from the couple of episodes on hotel tv often in a language she couldn’t speak. The younger girl instead watched things like The Sarah Jane Adventures or more ashamedly Wolfblood. “Fine I guess if I was really pressured it would probably have been Sterling Knight AKA Chad Dylan Cooper.”

“Ooh that makes so much sense…” James interrupted a look of understanding washing over his face. “What’s that?” y/n asked in confusion, reaching forward to grab her discarded glass of wine, a small pool of silky maroon red still present in the glass. “Why your type is a cocky bastard who smiles too much” James quipped back, the insurance broker's face turning slightly pink as a small chortle escaped. “I know that's supposed to be an insult James but jokes on you just proves I was always Y/N’s type… even if she did reject me every day for a year straight.” Marcus argued gleefully, wrapping an arm around the y/s/c woman, the second half of his sentence trailing off as he realised he’d in turn insulted himself.

Hazel Dorothy Scott was an internationally known jazz and classical pianist and singer; she also performed as herself in several films. She was prominent as a jazz singer throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

In 1950, she became the 1st woman of color to have her own TV show, The Hazel Scott Show, featuring a variety of entertainment. To evade the political persecution of artists in the McCarthy era, Scott moved to Paris in the late 1950s and performed in France, not returning to the United States until 1967.

Born in Port of Spain, Hazel was taken at the age of four by her mother to New York. Recognized early as a musical prodigy, Scott was given scholarships from the age of eight to study at the Juilliard School. She began performing in a jazz band in her teens and was performing on radio at age 16.

On October 2, 1981, Hazel Scott died of cancer at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

She was 61 years old, and survived by her son Adam Clayton Powell III.

She was buried at Flushing Cemetery in Queens, New York, near other musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Johnny Hodges, and Dizzy Gillespie.

LEGACY:

🎹Scott was best-known internationally as a performer of jazz.

🎤She was also accomplished in politics, leading the way for African Americans in entertainment and film; and was successful in dramatic acting and classical music.

🎹She was noted for her swinging style, performing at the Milford Plaza Hotel in her last months.

no, he's in a better place now. but never forgotten. uhm; I guess right now I can't really say I think FE is a good place for a driver but if we slightly shift reality to a better version of Gen3 and a championship in a more stable place, then there's a bunch of people it'd be cool to see.

FE has a very odd driving style, if you ask drivers about - actually you know what, I have asked drivers about it one moment let me get a quote Stoffel gave me.

"It's probably actually one of the the biggest changes, career wise almost, jumping from F1 to Formula E, just because of the way you have to drive the car.

I would say in Formula 1 and all the junior series leading up to Formula 1, everything kind of makes sense. Every car has a little bit more grip, a bit more downforce, a bit more power, it's a bigger car and every step you do is kind of logical.

While suddenly jumping from a Formula 1 car to Formula E, it's like: the whole technology, the way the car behaves is... well, there's only Formula E, there's no other car that behaves that way.

So in terms of driving style, you really have to get used to certain things, especially the braking where you have the regen on the rear axle, the feeling of the brake pedal is quite different.

And then we have a lot of software tools and programmes that help us out, or you can influence as a driver as well, so it's quite technical. And yeah, it's not a straightforward one to jump into."

which is why sometimes it doesn't work out for drivers who've done well in other categories. and there's not particularly a recipe for what makes a good Formula E driver, except that they need to be someone who can handle a strange car. and they really need to be able to memorise massive amounts of information to handle the energy management in the race. drivers that don't get much out of sim work are probably going to struggle.

given that, someone like Lando would be interesting. I think he'd find the car frustrating but fun. it'd actually suit Sainz's driving style (he has some interesting interpretations of kerbs)

(Lewis would either find it the most fun ever and kind of a novelty or be immediately incredibly annoyed with the whole thing, I don't think Seb would like it at all)

I'd love to see Alice Powell get a race seat (she's the test and development driver for Envision) and Tatiana Calderon was blisteringly fast when she did a rookie test, I think she'd be really great in a full-time seat.

I sort of hoped Max Fewtrell might get rescued into a seat or at least a test/sim role a few years back, since he was talking about wanting to be in FE. I'm pretty sure any talented junior series driver would, if they put their mind to it, be able to make the transition to FE and do well.

Marcus Armstrong's description of himself as liking braking earlier (in The Side Pod yesterday) makes me think he'd probably be weirdly naturally adapted to FE. but if he likes hitting the apex of corners he might struggle with the absence of downforce or grip. he does have experience with having relentlessly, sinfully appalling luck though and doesn't seem to have completely given up so he might have what it takes.

Luke sat with his head in his hands, trying to get his breathing under control. He felt like he was spinning out, mind racing, unable to stop from spiralling. This was too big, too momentous, he didn't deserve to be here...

"Luke?"

Suddenly there were warm and gentle hands cupping his cheek, pulling his watery hazel eyes up to meet soft brown. Behind Julie there was Reggie, his own jade green eyes looking concerned. "You okay babe?'

"Feeling the impostor syndrome right about now," Luke managed to choke out. "This place... we're about to be inducted in with the greats! Cobain, Armstrong, Lee... The legends of rock! What am I doing here?"

"They earned their place," Julie said sweetly, but firmly. "Just like you did. The number of Grammys on our shelf at home is proof of that."

"Not to mention the platinum records adorning our walls," Reggie quipped. "You did that."

"We did that you mean," Luke replied. "Couldn't have done it without you two, and Alex of course."

"We did say we'd get here, one day. Thank goodness we avoided that blow out causing him to leave," Julie joked. The three of them shared a fond look, remembering that day in the studio where they dreamed of getting to this place. Country album and all.

Sure, it had been a hard road getting here, and it had taken a little longer than any of them had liked. But here they were, waiting to get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Luke sniffled, offering a weak smile to his spouses. The streaks of silver in Reggie's dark hair, the laugh lines that highlighted Julie's mouth. He knew he also was starting to look his age, trying not to think about his own thinning locks and crow's feet.

But they were still here. Still together, still making music. With a good life full of love and happiness. With triumph and loss along the way. Luke knew, deep down, that he did deserve to be here, but he still asked, voice quiet and low, "Why can't we just stay here forever?'

"Well they will come looking for us eventually mi vida," Julie said with a giggle. "And if the staff doesn't, you know Luna and Danny will. They've been going on about how we must finally be cool to get here for months."

The three of them laughed at that, wondering how on Earth they had managed to raise such smart ass but wonderful kids. A knock sounded at the door, and they all grabbed each other's hands.

"It's time," Reggie stated. "You ready?"

Luke nodded, but didn't let go, letting them pull him toward the stage. The words of the ceremony washed over him, but he wasn't really paying attention. Instead he was looking out on the crowd, the sea of smiling faces. Ray and Victoria, looking so much older, but proud of their family. Luna and Danny were beside them, smiling wide, Danny give him a cheeky wave and motioning for Luke to pay attention. Luke scowled at his son but blew him a kiss anyways.

There was Willie and Isla, looking at Alex with a sense of pride. Alex who looked decidedly uncomfortable being the centre of attention, but as long as he looked at his husband and daughter, he could endure it.

There was Flynn and Carrie, whispering quietly together, and Luke would bet money they were bickering again. Yet they were still the happiest couple Luke knew.

His own parents were on Ray's other side, looking so out of place and frail amongst the rock stars and industry people, but they were still there, smiling and supporting him. At long last. It had taken them a whole lot of therapy to get there, and a stint of Luke living in Julie's garage, but they got there eventually.

Finally, Luke looked to his side where Julie and Reggie were standing. Hands still clasped together, always his brightest burning stars, his inspiration, the loves of his life. They had figured themselves out not long after that first Orpheum show, and Luke had dreamed, sure, but he never really thought that he would be standing here, still hand in hand with them all these decades later. He counted himself so lucky to have their love and support.

Then the officiant called on the band to say something. Luke was sure he stumbled through his speech, hoping he hadn't forgotten to thank anyone who helped them on their long road here. "Earlier today, I was kind of panicking, wondering if I should really be here," he said honestly, rubbing the back of his neck as the crowd chuckled. "I spent so long idolizing the previous inductees, and wondered how I measured up. But my lovely spouses reminded me to won my awesomeness, and I realize that for some young, aspiring musician, maybe I am their inspiration. Which is... wild and humbling, and I don't think teenage runaway me would ever believe it."

Luke felt Julie and Reggie lean in, pecking his cheeks, and he giggled, especially when their kids screwed up their faces in fake disgust. "Anyways, this is a real honour, and this is the moment I kind of want to live in forever. Thank you so much."

The ceremony ended soon after, and Luke stepped down off the stage, still hand in hand with Julie and Reggie. He listened to various congratulations, blushing hard as some musicians he had always idolized took him aside to relay their own feelings of unworthiness.

But at the end of the night, no honours, awards, or accolades could ever mean as much to him as getting to go home with Julie and Reggie, kick up their feet and snuggle on the couch together. Sure, they had realized one of their wildest dreams, but to Luke?

All he ever dreamed about was cuddled next to him on the couch, and this, this moment right here, was the one he wanted to stay in forever, and his partners heartily agreed as they pressed one last kiss to his face before they all drifted off into a well deserved rest.

Mayfair M.A

Y/N L/N’s loved when she got to sit in on and be a part of Screaming Meals, whilst having cameras in her face had become a necessary evil in her career Screaming Meals was less media duties and more fucking about and having a lark with her boyfriend and their tightknit group of friends without having to worry about a show, a race, an interview or anything else her career and Marcus’ threw at them. Yeah Nah G’day was the jewel in the Screaming Meals channel at least in Y/N’s eyes watching Marcus & James slip back into simple Kiwi boy’s sharing stories & laughs, the occasional sly dig thrown in.

“I was just hanging around Mayfair the other day… I’m not flexing I’m just I was in Mayfair at a cafe with my girlfriend…” Marcus began already rolling his eyes at the face James was pulling at the mention of the infamous London location. “Was I there?” James asked quickly, the tall Kiwi forgetting to let the Driver finish his sentence. “Are you my girlfriend? Marcus asked sarcastically, raising a quizzical eyebrow in response. Resting back, relaxing more into the firm sofa Marcus continued his story “The cafe was reasonably empty, and I’ve sort of looked over to my left and uh… and I’ve seen someone. And I’m like she looks familiar. At this point Y/N’s given me a weird look, I’m like she looks really like Rihanna. Obviously, I didn’t say that to Y/N/N because you know I wasn’t looking at another girl but I’m also not stupid.” Snorting at his mates replay of his inner monologue James interrupted again “Debatable.” It was obviously in jest, but Marcus couldn’t help the offended look that filled his pale features. James and Marcus even Clém often poked fun at each other but they never meant any harm by it, it was just playground high jinks despite leaving school years ago. “So I’m like I’ll just get my phone, I check online um oh shit Rhianna is actually in London right now. And She’s realised that I’ve noticed it's her and there’s only like my table and her table” The Kiwi Driver explained moving his hands around to try to visually explain the distance between him and who he’d now confirmed as the famous Barbadian singer. “And she’s like basically from me to y/n away, she’s so close and I’m like oh my god.”

“Mate she’s gonna freak out when she sees this” James explained teasing the clearly excited Marcus, if there was one thing Marcus Armstrong was bad at other than singing it was hiding his emotions. It didn’t take a genius to work out when he was excited. From the way his soft golden hazel eyes would sparkle to the small twitches of his upper lip as he tried to bite back a growing grin. “I know” Marcus replied somewhat bashfully, an awkward laugh of disbelief tumbling from his pink lips. “When she watches this she’s gonna absolutely lose it. So I’ve realised it’s her and She can see in my eyes that I’ve just realised it’s Rhianna right. And she’s obviously said something to her mate who’s like right next to her and I believe that mate was A$AP Rocky. Quite a table next to us and uh so she’s mentioned something, and I’ve turned to my girlfriend and I’ve said, “Whatever you do don’t turn around.” Marcus trailed off mentally reliving the moment, his heart starting to race.

“Obviously the first thing Y/N’s gonna do” James stated with a shrug of his shoulders, it was a known fact the y/h/c girl couldn’t be trusted in situations like this. It wasn’t her fault; it was just a reflex she struggled to control no matter how hard she tried. “No I’ve said “don’t turn around Babe do NOT turn around, but Rhianna is on the table behind us”. And of course, my sweet sweet girlfriend has turned around. Um and then suddenly it just struck me I was like actually now that I realise it this room is full of security guards… And they’re all looking at me because I’ve just said that WAY too loud, and Y/N/N’s turned around.” Marcus recounted, a small smile breaking onto his face as he locked eyes with the aforementioned girl behind the camera. “Kind of like Clément Novalak in a Drivers briefing” James chortled purposely ignoring the scoffing that came from his female long-time friend.

“Exactly like Clément in the driver’s briefing… she’s going to hate that you’ve compared her to him..” the F2 Driver replied laughing at first before trailing off. It was a joke, a good joke even, but Y/N hated being compared to any Driver on the F2 grid or otherwise. Adjusting his headphones Marcus cleared his throat “And uh, my heart is like pounding, it’s like the most nervous I’ve ever been in my life seeing Rhianna, she’s looked me in the eyes and given me a look of disgust, something that I’m quite used to now.”

“It was not a look of disgust!.” the y/h/c young woman called out softly, a giggle rippling from her chest, her heart warming at the sight of a slightly panicking Armstrong. At the same time James decided to add his thoughts. “Yeah, especially from women… or Y/N’s fans” James added knowing that over the past couple of months the young woman’s fanbase had grown, and with that so had some of jealousy targeted towards the New Zealander. “Thanks man… And uuhh so I actually I felt so embarrassed for myself that i’d made her uncomfortable that I just thought I need to leave, Babe we need to leave. I just can’t believe I made her feel like this. Lets just get up and leave, I’m sorry I’ve ruined our date, but we just need to leave. So I’m like let’s go. And then Y/N just looks at me like I’m insane and walked up to Rhianna and says “Hey Rhi how are you” like it was nothing!? Then they like hug and everything and then we just walk out, we just go. I’m still buzzing now like yeah.”

“I can tell.” the taller Kiwi replied, “It is weird when you see like a full-blown celebrity in the wild.” James hummed a second later nodding his head slightly at his statement. “James, you see me all the time?!” Y/N hollered tilting her head slightly in confusion, some loose strands of y/h/c locks disturbing her view of the lighter haired man. “I said a celebrity!” James barked back in faux angst. “I’ll just go fuck myself then? No more concert tickets for you!” Y/N sassily retaliated losing the fighting urge to stick her tongue out at her boyfriends and unfortunately hers depending on how you looked at it close mate.

“Hold on a minute! You can’t do that!” James exclaimed loudly, shooting forward quickly, almost yanking his headphones violently. Turning to face his co-host James frowned slightly “Can she do that?” James whispered obnoxiously a look of utter bewilderment casting over his face. All the insurance broker got in response was a half-hearted shrug.

Camille "Desden" Dessaigne

Camille is a unisex name in French - he's a man. He's the main character of this story. Desden wants a simple life, loves to cook, his dog, his friends and family. He's a soft, funny guy, but can be very closed off and sarcastic, cynical even, if you get him the wrong way.

31 yo, 1,98m (6'5), brown short hair, blue eyes.

Distinctive signs : a big lock of white hair at the back of the head (left side), bumpy nose, freckles.

Disabilities : Desden is almost totally blind due to a head trauma. He can only see on the extreme right side of his field of vision, which means he mostly perceives light and shadows. He uses his guide dog Kalinka and a cane to get around.

Abilities : hereditary ability to sense the presence of ghosts, attract them - and more. He's also a very good cook.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Barbara Jones is the middle child of the Jones family— her older sister being Caroline Jones and her younger sister being Anna Julia Jones. She moved to North Point with her family at the early age of 6 due to her father's work. Her mother was a Brazilian artist and her father is a retired English accountant.

Barbara comes from a loud family. Her dad, Charles Jones and her mum, Silvia Jones, were a lovely couple well-known on North Point and Silvia's death was felt by many of their neighbours.

The family has two older girls, Caroline (Barbara's older sister, married to Tim Pritchard) and Anna Julia (married to Yasmin Jones).
