Lothiriel gently pulled the string that held her new husband's shift closed across his chest. He watched her with heavily lidded eyes, close enough to kiss. There was a thin white line trailing from his neck across his collarbone, and she pushed the linen aside to touch it.

"What about this one?" she asked softly.

There was barely any space between them. Eomer felt frozen in place, so desperate to touch her, but unable to move. Every movement she made was almost overwhelming, overpowering. He had no strength but to watch and hope, hope, hope. When he replied, his voice cracked. "A childhood scrap."

Her fingertip along the old scar was feather-light. It made him dizzy. The air was thick. His vision was blurred.

A smile flickered across Lothiriel's face, but her attention stayed on where the pale flesh glided across sun-warmed skin. "What did you do to deserve it?"

Eomer choked on his quiet laugh. "Something ungallant."

"Hmm?"

"Eowyn warned me against it. She was right, of course. She often is."

"What was it?" After only a moment of hesitation, she pressed her forehead against his tense neck and kissed his skin. What was smouldering in Eomer erupted into flames at the touch of her lips. He wanted to grasp her and hold her, to touch her and have her. But she was his queen, and he was utterly under her power.

"I tried to mount Shadowfax," he managed to say after a moment. His knees felt weak. Her soft kisses were careful and they found their way to his neck. The strength was going from his knees. "Eowyn whipped me to get me back. It did less damage that he might have."

When her lips ghosted over his ear and her hands wove into his long hair, Eomer sighed her name. "Please," he begged quietly. "Lothiriel."

She pulled back and searched his face in question. His brows were furrowed, his hands balled into fists at his side. She touched his face and he leaned into her hand. "What is it?" she asked.

Eyes still closed, he smiled in relief at her touch. "I have waited my life for you, I think. Don't make me wait any longer."

Her arms came about her king's neck, her husband's neck, and Lothiriel kissed his scar again. "I'm here, Eomer. We don't need to wait anymore."

My brother and I have already produced two short films, and I really fell in love with filmmaking (I know, I know 🤡). Am I right in guessing that your question was prompted by my reblog of your reblog of Charlie Hunnam's gif set? XD

Because if so, I will just say that I am very excited to have selected Charlie as my fancast for Théodred of Rohan! (Excited because I hope to start writing chapters of my Eomer x OC fic soon, which actually co-stars dear Théodred.)

If you are a writer, share a piece of your yet unfinished writing. Can be a sentence or a dialogue or anything really. Short, long, whatever. I want to see what you all are working on and admire some amazing writing. I think it might be fun. Here is mine from forever unfinished one shot.

They will smell like nicotine and he will be able to feel it next time Boromir’s fingers will brush his hair in their usual playful manner. Boromir smelled like nicotine. And like something spicy? Mixed up with something sweet? Scent similar to how chilli pepper chocolate tastes like, when it’s melting on one’s tongue, reaching every nerve and every tastebud, bringing some comfort and some pain at the same time. Sometimes Aragorn wondered if kissing Boromir would also taste like this… Sweet and painful.

Perseus was the son of Zeus and Danae and is the renowned slayer of Medusa. His story begins with his grandfather, Acrisius. Acrisius was the king of Argos and father of Danae. He frequently sought the advice of Apollo's Oracles and one told him that the sons of Danae would kill him. After hearing that, the king locked his daughter in an underground chamber. But nothing is ever enough to keep Zeus away from a mortal who catches his attention. The king came down to visit Danae one day only to discover she held Perseus in her arms. He locked the two in a chest and chunked the two out to sea. The chest washed ashore to the island Seriphos and was caught in the net of Dictys, the brother of the king. He offered Danae a place to stay and protected her from curious individuals. His brother, Polydectes, however fell in love with Danae the moment he saw her. She rejected him and Polydectes became resolved to win her hand. Perseus he saw as the only obstacle he had to remove from the equation. Polydectes pretended to become engaged to Hippodameia and by royal decree he commanded that everyone bring a horse as a bride-gift. Perseus was poor and asked what he could bring as an altnerative and was told the head of Medusa. Perseus wandered for days without finding the Gorgon. Athena (who gave him a bronze shield) and Hermes (who gave him an adamantine sickle) advised him to seek Medusa's sisters, the Graeae. They gave to him the impenetrable bag and winged sandals. Then told him to find the nymphs of the north who possessed Hades's Cap of Invisibility. He used the reflection of the shield to seek Medusa and beheaded Medusa unseen by her gaze. A solider and winged horse sprang from her neck. Perseus put the head in the bag and with it he turned the king who set his quest to stone like he did to Atlas on his trek home. The fixed star Algol is located on the outer edge of Perseus's constellation - it is said to be Medusa's third eye in his constellation. IN MY OPINION Algol in a chart can represent a) what you believe to be evil, b) the cruelty/rage you have in your life, c) your greatest weapon, and/or d) the power you have.

What frustrates me so much about all the "poor Medusa ;A;!! Perseus is THE REAL monster and should dieeee" wailing (read the Theogony and maybe you'll calm down. Or hey, even the version where Medusa commits hubris and that's why Athena curses her!) is that it's like Medusa is the only woman who matters in the narrative.

Let's talk about Danae, who is the reason Perseus ends up having to go after Medusa at all.

Danae, who, in the common version of the myth, has had to fend off Polydektes for years as he tries to make her marry him, which she doesn't want to do, and ends up at an altar as a supplicant/to take refuge before Perseus comes back.

Or Danae, who, in Pindar, has been living as Polydektes' slave and "wife" (concubine, more like), way before Perseus can help free her by going on a suicide mission. ("thus to end his mother's long slavery and enforced wedlock" - Pindar, Pythian Ode 12; I don't see how this is to be interpreted otherwise)

Danae, who has to watch her son be maneuvered into signing up for a suicide mission, knowing it's happening because Polydektes wants to marry her. Danae, who has to listen to her son, who doesn't have the horses Polydektes is asking all the noble men to give him as preparation for courting Hippodameia (yes, that Hippodameia that Pelops marries) and ends up swearing he'll give him "even the head of the Gorgon".

Something which Polydektes immediately jumps on and demands he should do! And Perseus is stuck now, so he'll have to do it!

Danae, having to say good bye to her son, to what's undoubtedly his death, the last time she'll see him. Who is going because he was/is under the belief this might keep Polydektes from finally from pursuing his mother, but no, this is so he'll be able to marry her! And she'll have to marry (and, you know, be raped by, for presumably the rest of her life unless she commits suicide) the man she's been managing to avoid marrying for so long, her son dead on top of that.

But who cares, right. The ONLY one who matters is Medusa, who you don't even HAVE to go with Ovid's version for her background for.
