can we talk about law in this panel for a second like everyone is literally shocked that they’re eyes are popping out and mouths open except law well only his eyes are popping out like he looks more concerned than shocked kinda a parallel moment when luffy used g4 for the first time and sent 🦩 flying everyone was shocked and law was damn that’s cool but he’s using 2 much haki
if that’s the case on why he looks a little “different” from everyone else than i think that’s adorable

me, realizing that bounce man and snake man were foreshadowing for luffy's devil fruit being more than just a rubber fruit and that i was a fool for doubting oda all the way back a decade or so ago when bounce man was first introduced and i thought it was dumb because while the previous gears made sense what didn't make sense was how the hell a rubber fruit would cause luffy to temporarily develop flame sun?! tattoos and eyeliner except turns out it made perfect sense i just didn't have the context needed to understand it yet:

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ONE PIECE, WANO ARC
No but HOLD THE FUCK ON.
Can we please, please talk about how it's Nami's faith in her captain, faith in her friend that kickstarts the Drums of Liberation?? Her love and trust in Luffy that awakens Nika? I haven't seen one person talk about this!
Luffy canonically dips out of his mortal coil after that deceitful power play by CPO leads to Kaido knocking his soul to the next world. Momonusuke says that Luffy's voice has disappeared. He is toast.
Nami isn't usually the first Mugiwara to stand up to the big bad villain. She's less bold and more strategic than most of the rest of the crew. But here, we see her stand up to Kaido, the strongest motherfucker we've seen thus far in the One Piece universe.
Nami was already one of my favorite Straw Hats. She's brilliant, courageous, and unabashedly self-confident in not just her looks but her capabilities as a navigator and goddamn weather priestess. But it was this moment here that made me realize how fundamentally crucial she is to Luffy's growth, how necessary her relationship with him is.
It is immediately after we see Nami say, "Keep your word, as always!" that Luffy's heart starts to beat again. It is immediately after her defiant stand in front of Kaido that the Drums of Liberation begin to beat for the first time in 800 years. I'd like to argue that without Nami's unrelenting determination and belief in Luffy that Nika might have stayed dormant and Luffy might have stayed dead. That the fruit might have reincarnated somewhere else and the Drums of Liberation would remain unheard for another generation.
This is all to say, Nami is best girl, and without her we might never have gotten Gear 5, Nika's reincarnation or Luffy's future as Emperor of the Sea.

Episode 1072 - The Ridiculous Power! GEAR 5 in Full Play!
I absolutely loved this episode. This was the episode we should have hyped up all along. I love the heavy inspiration from Looney Tunes, and just watching Luffy be so happy made me laugh while watching the episode. He is a true Joyboy, both in his world and in ours! Also, massive props to the animation team for giving us such a feast!
BEAT LOUDLY, HEARTBEAT!

Half asleep and still have One Piece on the brain and just thought Shanks probably knew the devil fruit he had wasn't the gomu gomu fruit right? Just him knowing it wasn't just a paramecia and super powerful Zoan and just as soon as Luffy eats it is freaking out so much cause that was no normal devil fruit.
Angst dumb idea of Shanks making sure Luffy doesn't see him is also slightly out of guilt because he knows something about the fruit which will be dangerous to Luffy.
Sorry this is dumb I am very very tired.
