Forest(?) Claire sketches, this time featuring Skye because the headcanons I have for them are both cute and funny, maybe a bit of the typical romcom couple cliches idk The characters I ship with Claire are vastly different from one another lol

I guess this is even more like an au, kind of, since I change both of them a bit here. As usual, I like to think about deeper and probably sadder stories and motives for these characters, so, in a way, I want to see like a redemption arc for him or something?

Also, some of my ideas regarding this Claire are that she spends more time with Gotz and Harris, and that she knows a lot about hunting or defending herself and others, so she would be a significant treat for suspicious characters. But even if she's supposed to look more reserved, a little distant, she's still very nice and can't help but care for everyone. So, in short, she's scary but also really kind, and that helps changing his ways, at least that's what I'm trying to show here a little bit.

Also let's just pretend Skye is in both towns but mostly in Mineral Town in this stuff, it's self indulgent and because I'm not very familiar with the awl characters :')

I know there's not much to work with, but if you're still doing these, could you do a character analysis for Skye?

Skye, the elusive, self-proclaimed Phantom-Thief.  Exclusive to Harvest Moon DS Cute as a special bachelor.  Oh, don’t worry - I have some thoughts on him, hehe.

How I feel about this character:

Harvest Moon DS was one of the first titles I played, and I was so eager to play it on release day on my chunky blue DS.  All glitches aside, I think it’s a wonderful game.  My previous game being the original for the SNES, I loved all the new features.  I was tickled to find a copy of HMDS Cute at a pawn shop for a few dollars, as I heard that they had fixed a lot of the bugs and had a few new features.

One of those being a special bachelor.  (Technically there are special bachelors, but Mason is a completely different story.)

I remember starting both of my files - one as Pony and one as Claire.  Being a veteran to HMDS, I already had plans on how I wanted to differ the farms.  Pony was going to focus on livestock, while Claire grew crops.  I had already played as Claire in MFoMT, so I was eager to start my file as Pony and marry the special bachelor, Skye!

I knew very little about him other than his appearance and that he was an exclusive character.  I loved the cast of Forget-Me-Not Valley, so I was so stoked to have a new face show up.

But then he opened his mouth to speak.

I quickly learned that Skye was not my type AT ALL.  Using eloquent words and flaunting his pretty-boy looks, he smooth-talked people out of their hard earned goods.  He fancied himself the Prince of the Stars and often talked about how mysterious he was.

(No, Skye, I really don’t.)

His events were very different than the rest of the marriage candidates in the game.  Skye would leave a note at a location, stating he would steal something, and then he would attack the proprietors with his “Chick Beam” (more thoughts on that later) and make off with the goods, not without casting a flirtation at the main character on his way out.

I’m aware the whole elusive phantom thief trope is a thing, and it feels like an odd mix in a small farming community like Forget-Me-Not of all places.  The only place that really seems to have anything expensive in it would be Romana’s mansion - other than that, these are just humble people living in the middle of a small farming community.  I doubt Griffin was raking in the cash at the Blue Bar, so it felt strange to rob him, unless Skye was really that desperate for a drink.  I can imagine Vesta being a little more wealthy, selling seeds to other farms in the area (including Mineral Town in my headcanons), but I still can’t figure out why Marlin didn’t/couldn’t go after him, as he wouldn’t be affected by the Chick Beam?  Anyway, I felt that a lot of the thief scenes felt a bit forced and that the main character was living one of the episodes of the cheesy weekly specials they show on the in-game television.

Skye does open up to the main character briefly during his blue heart scene, confessing his love of experimenting with making different kinds of curry, but he has trouble getting it to taste just right.  You can suggest that he isn’t cooking with enough love, which he finds amusing, but he seems to take to heart.  It seems like we’re going to finally get to see a more vulnerable side of Skye…

That is, until his final heart scene.  The whole town decides to work together to catch Skye and stop him once and for all.  Honestly, it’s pretty neat to see so many characters in one scene together who usually don’t interact working together as a team.  I love how Rock is leading the team, eager to be the one to catch the thief.

Skye obviously doesn’t want to get run out of town and bumps into the main character.

If we agree, he tells the MC she looks pretty in his usual overly flowery way and leaves her to deal with the mess of betraying all the townsfolk.

Lying to all of the townspeople that I had been befriending up until then really left a sour taste in my mouth.  It really felt like I had to pick between him or the rest of the town. And it was at that point where I realized every single heart event revolved around Skye getting what he wanted by using others, including the main character.

We never find out why Skye is robbing people, either.  I got the feeling that Skye’s overly confident air was a bit of a defense mechanism, but we never really see him drop the “act”, even after marriage.  So maybe that’s just the way he is?  It felt a little hollow, and I would’ve liked to see a more down-to-earth Skye who realizes he doesn’t have to get by from stealing.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Sorry, I don’t have any. 😓 I feel that Skye needs to get his life together and realize that he can’t get by on his charm alone to get whatever he wants.  And since we are given so little about his actual character, it’s really hard to tell who he would be compatible with.

My non-romantic OTP for this character

No one in Forget-Me-Not Valley, for sure!  They all are eager to run him out, as he is constantly trying to steal from their businesses.

Perhaps Skye and Gourmet could talk curry recipes together, as they both really like it.  Maybe Gourmet could give him tips to get that perfect flavor.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Skye’s behavior raises a lot of red flags for me.  My biggest complaint is if you choose to propose to him, he plans on coming to your house to steal your blue feather.

It’s a bit of an “if I can’t have you, no one can” mentality, and I find it really uncomfy.  Just as he steals objects, he plans on “stealing” the main character’s heart.

Skye’s “Chick Beam” leaves girls literally paralyzed and he continues to have conversations with them, whether they want him to or not.  If this ability really works, it’s kinda scary when you think of how it can be abused.  Red flags all around.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I wish they had elaborated on Skye a bit.  A lotta bit. 

Yeah, I get he’s mysterious, but what is he doing in a small town like this?  Why not go somewhere with more valuables - is he currently hiding from a theft that ended badly?  Why did he choose to become a thief?  What is he saving his money for?  What is the “Chick Beam” and does it truly work?  Is he human, or does he possess similar powers to the Witch Princess?  We honestly know so little from him outside of this “mysterious air” he puts on as a security blanket, and I don’t really feel like he removes that after marriage, either.

Outward appearances are very important to Skye.  He presents himself in fashionable clothing and speaks in honeyed words.  Whether this is for him to work his charisma to steal more easily, we’re not entirely sure.  Maybe he just came from a wealthy family that dresses and speaks that way, although my gut points to the first reason.

Skye might not be my favorite character in the series, but he definitely stands out and leaves the player with a lot more questions than answers.  And unanswered questions are fun for headcanons!

Thank you so much for the ask!  Skye does have a bit of intrigue to him and there’s a lot of blanks for the player to fill in for themselves.  Definitely makes you think a bit! ;)

I've decided to find out if the ratio on our friends eye colors from Hogwarts Mystery lines up with the world ratio.

I know the world ratio is not completely accurate for this situation because only students from certain regions attend Hogwarts. And the Wizarding World ratios might be different from the muggle ratio (though I doubt Rowling put that much thought into it.) But finding accurate eye color ratios specific to the regions of wizards/witches that attend Hogwarts is kinda hard.

so let's start the the average eye color ratios, not caused by medical condition (because we know no characters have albinism or similar conditions)

Brown: 55% to 79%

Blue: 8% to 10%

Hazel/Amber: 5% to 10%

Green: 2%

Grey: 1%

Now, let's decide who all we're counting in this sample. Everyone on the "Friendship" roster who is human. (Sorry Hagrid but you are half giant and might screw up our statistics.) Plus Merula since she's on the "Romance" roster. That's a total of 24 people. Their eye colors are as follows:

Rowan: Brown

Ben: Brown

Penny: Blue

Bill: We'll say Green, because they're lighter than most green eyes, but not brown enough to be considered hazel.

Tonks: Assuming she hasn't used her powers to change her eye color, Hazel

Tulip: Brown

Barnaby: Green

Andre: Brown

Charlie: We'll call Amber because they are noticeably brighter than the rest of the characters with brown eyes, but have no green or green tones.

Jae: Brown

Liz: Hazel

Talbott: Red, which is not a naturally occurring eye color.

Skye: We'll say Green like Bill, because there's not enough brown to consider them Hazel.

Since Talbott and Merula don't have eye colors that occur naturally without serious medical conditions (which they clearly do not have) we'll have to void them, making our total 22 people.

When we tally up each eye color we have:

Blue: 4

Hazel/Amber: 6

Green: 3

Grey: 0

Now let's do some division and find out our percents.

Brown: 9/22= 0.409 0.409x100= 40.9%

Blue: 4/22= 0.181 0.181x100= 18.1%

Hazel/Amber: 6/22= 0.272 0.272x100= 27.2%

Green: 3/22=0.136 0.136x100= 13.6%

So our tally comes out to:

Brown: 40.9%

Blue: 18.1%

Hazel/Amber: 27.2%

Green: 13.6%

Keep in mind light eyes are more common in European regions, meaning Brown is likely to fall on the lower end at about 55%, and blue is likely to fall on the higher end at about 10%.

Given our small sample of only 22 I would say this is a fairly accurate eye color ratio.

Harvest Moon DS Cute

Commentary- I never actually played this game. I asked for it but my brother got me "Harvest Moon DS" instead, but SKYE is the reason I started playing harvest moon! When I was little I was trying to find games where I could marry and start a family. I found skye and I was swooning instantly! Now that I'm older, im too scared to buy and play the game because what if my fantasy of the guy who started my love of the series doesnt come close to who he actually is?

Harvest Moon : Sunshine Islands

Commentary- THIS was my first harvest moon game! As for Will, I cant remember exactly why I chose him since it was so long ago. Maybe I thought he was cute, I didnt like the other candidates or that I thought marrying him would help my income on the farm (Which it didnt!) But it doesnt change the fact that he'll always have a special place in my heart for being my first Harvest moon husband! I still do think he's a cutie to this day.

Who I thought i would marry - Pierre! I was on the road to him until Will came at the last minute! Lol

Child name- Maulina. I remember before the kid was born, i named my cow malina and i liked the name but i didnt want to name my child after a cow so i spelled it differently. I also remember seeing a "leak" of the child portraits, with will's kid having blonde hair and blue eyes and I thought the name was fitting for that design. I later found out that was not infact an official leak 😅

Harvest Moon : A New Beginning

Commentary - I had no patience to wait for all the bachelors to show up in this game so I regretfully rushed and married the first person that came, Neil. I was never a fan of his tsundere personality but his nervous face did make me smile after the marriage every now and then.

Who I thought I would marry/ Runner up - I remember dating allen in this game but I thought his personality was so horrible after a while I deleted the save file. I do wish I had took the time to get to know Sanjay. Thinking back on it, I couldve possibly liked him if I had talked to hime more.

Child name- I think it was Sage but im not 100% sure...

Story of Seasons

Commentary- My FAVORITE game of the series with my most FAVORITE bachelor! Mistel! His personality got me immediately! I was always caught off guard by him and blushing. Needless to say he's my number 1. With Nadi an extremely close runner up! I actually chose the picture of him that made me like him. The first time I ever saw that smirk, I had an instant crush.

Child name- Surprisingly I never married! It came out when I was in high school and I got too busy but I do sorta remember the names I was going to use! There was 4 names in total since this game gives you twins but I only remember "Drossel and Verona". I guess the art design made me feel like these names were fitting for this game. I also remember wanting to give Nadi's kids a plant based name.

Story of Seasons : Trio of Towns

Commentary- I liked Inari's ears and im a sucker for white hair. Other than that, I just wasnt a fan of any of the other bachelors

Runner up- If Inari didnt exist then I would had chosen Hinata, I like positive energetic characters.

Child name- Kana, After my child in Fire emblem Fates

Story of Seasons : Friends of Mineral Town

Commentary - Kai! I LOVE Kai! I hate putting my favorites in competitions with eachother but Kai is DEFINITELY in my top 3. He's so charming, smooth, funny and charismatic! How could I NOT like him? He's made me blush a few times too. Not to mention we both have the same favorite food!

Runner up- If Kai never showed up, I probably would have gone after Cliff, It made me sad that he came with no family, I wanted to help him go from nothing to a new found expanding family!

Child name- No child name! I got too busy with school again to marry him sadly! Plus I never thought of a name for our future kids.

Story of Seasons : Pioneers of Olive Town

Commentary- Not too much to say here. I liked Jack's normal personality, his events were cute AND he's not too bad looking himself. I never finished the game far enough to marry him.

Runner up- Ralph. I had a hard time deciding between the two. Ralph's events were pretty cute plus I liked his personality.

Rune Factory 4

Commentary- Doug! I didnt expect to like him but I was so caught off guard the first time I saw his introduction! I was like "Woah! Whos that!" He had instantly piqued my interest after that!

Runner up- I remember I had accidentally asked Dylas out in one of my other files. I had no interest in him but seeing that he liked me made me see him differently. I also had another file where I had planned dating Leon but I lost interest in that

Who I thought I would end up with- Before the game came out I looked at everyones Bio and thought I would fall for Vishnal! His design was cute and his personality seemed nice on paper but once I started playing I lost interest fast lol.

"Harvest Moon" : One World

Commentary - Jamil had the best 1st love event to pull me in. It showed how compassionate and caring he is and has to be one of my favorite events I've seen. It had me thinking about him hard enough to leave an impression on me!

Runner up- Sami. I did marry him but Jamil stole my heart.

Who I thought I would marry- Everyone except Braden

Commentary- Muffy is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! And has such a cute personality! I could never understand how she had romance troubles. If she were real I'd snatch her up in a heartbeat! As for Leia, Her sweet pwrsonality and cute looks got me too. Sadly, all my hard work went in vain as my save file corrupted and I was never able to marry in the game.

Commentary- I never really had a thing for Lily, she was more of an "If I had to choose" option because I find her pretty.

Harvest Moon : A New Beginning

Commentary- I feel like If I could, I could write a whole essay about Tina. Im surprised that she's so underrated when she literally started my awakening! Everything about her is so perfect! She made me realize Im a sucker for short hair and her peppy outlook on life and energy made me feel so refreshed. Infact the first thing she ever told me that made my heart flutter was "Let's seize the day!" and she had the cutest little smile. For some reason that moment was a core memory. I just think she's best girl. I started a new save file just for her and Ive never done that before!

Child name- We never married but I had planned on naming our daughter "Tharja" for some reason.

Rune Factory 4

Commentary- Xiao Pai is just cute! I think I liked her mom more though lol.

Commentary- Malika is just pretty and I think her personality is neat. I feel like she teases alot.

I was thinking about the whole thing about the HMDS cast all being descendants from the fomt/awl cast and then I realized there’s a very good chance that Skye is Huangs/Wons descendant and I just had to take a minute to process that.
