🌺 ABOUT THE MANHWA (read it here)

Bayan is an outcast amongst the Siyo, a people who have healing powers. Considered worthless because she doesn’t have the ability to heal others, Bayan is sent to the court of Dhan, the Great Sun Emperor, who is cursed with unrelenting bloodlust and slaughters his concubines mercilessly. It seems that Bayan’s fate is sealed the moment she reaches the emperor’s palace and Dhan is fated to suffer from madness forever... But together, Bayan and Dhan just might be able to change each other’s destiny.

Elixir Of The Sun is a historical romance about our main characters Dhan and Bayan overcoming fate and finding love in one another through trials and tribulations. The Manwha is adapted from the light novel "Lord Of The Sun" written by Soldam and does contain dark, sensitive and explicitly adult scenes where as the manhwa is careful to tone it down for a mature audience.

🌺 TRIGGER WARNINGS!

Should you choose to read Elixir Of The Sun, please keep in mind that:

- sexual violence is part of its story in terms of information (no scene is ever depicted but there is a close call regarding the main character in chapters 9 & 10)

- depictions of self inflicted injuries (the main character has healing blood and has to stab herself multiple times throughout the story)

- a failed un-aliving attempt in chapters 41 & 42. The main character was sleepwalking.

- In Chapters 110 - 115 there is a extreme depiction of excessive blood and violence but no gore is present.

Thankfully, the story doesn't force its plot to have these things as the main point, it merely uses these plot devices to reinforce and focus on the romance and subtle fantasy plot surrounding the bond of Bayan and Dhan.

HOW TO MAKE THIS LOT FUNCTIONAL:

For the Boba Tea Store, I've added the ThriftTea Bubble Tea Counter created by @srslysims. It features the same animation and interactions as the vanilla version but without the bulky counter it comes with.

For the Clothing Store, I recommend using the Fashion Store Mod by Nando. I've placed interactive mirrors in the changing cabins so your Sims can actually buy clothes from them.

For the Sephora Store, I'm utilizing the Functional Perfumes by @aroundthesims along with the Saleabration Store Mod by @ravasheencc, allowing your Sims to buy and use them! Additionally, I've included the New Styling Station (Chair) by @aroundthesims so your Sims can enjoy a little makeover at the store.

For the Bookstore, I'm incorporating both the Retail Therapy Mod by @ravasheencc and the Self-Service Kiosk by @aroundthesims, enabling your Sims to purchase books within the store. You don't have to have both mods installed if you don't want to; either one will suffice!

For a more immersive experience with this lot, I highly suggest downloading LittleMsSam’s Auto Employees Mod. With this mod, NPCs will automatically work at the lot once you place the correct object for them to appear.

y/n huffed out a breath, begging for the half time whistle to blow as she chased down her girlfriend, quickly shoulder checking her from the ball.

Athenea rolls down, crying out in annoyance as y/n sends a quick pass to Niamh, watching as her team quickly work, Sam managing to sneak a goal just before the whistle blew.

y/n threw her hands up, cheering as Jess jumped on her back, yelling about her pass to Niamh. Emma sent y/n a thumbs up and a nod, the blonde manager the only one to know about her and Athenea, other than y/n's best friends Millie Bright and Rachel Daly.

y/n hadn't been able to sleep the night prior to this, nerves of facing her girlfriend for the first time since the world cup final haunted her. She was sat in the hotel garden, looking out when Emma saw her from her room.

The manager had gone down to tell her defender off, knowing how important the girl was defensively and with her set pieces, but stopped when she heard the girl speaking a language she didn't even know she could.

"Ambos somos demasiado leales para nuestro propio amor y no quiero que eso nos haga daño a largo plazo." She had whispered to her girlfriend, phone in her hand.

We are both too loyal for our own good love, and I don't want it to hurt us in the long run.

"Estaremos bien, sol, siempre lo estaremos." Athenea had promised her.

We'll be alright sunshine, we always are.

"Yeah, well. I'd much rather see you in a Chelsea shirt tomorrow." y/n had huffed to her girlfriend who let out a light laugh.

"Vamos Real Madrid." Athenea hummed and y/n chuckled.

"You Del Castillo are a fool if you think you will get past Chelsea." y/n chuckled.

"Si soy un tonto. Soy tu tonto." Athenea hummed.

If I am a fool, I am your fool.

"Será mejor que nos vayamos a la cama mi amor." y/n sighed into the phone.

We best get to bed, my love.

"Te veré mañana, te amo." Athenea had hummed.

I will see you tomorrow, I love you.

"Te amo." y/n had repeated.

I love you

Then the phone was off and y/n was once again left alone, or so she thought as she wondered why they were still hiding their love from the world.

"I didn't know you could speak Spanish." Emma stated and y/n froze, she turned and winced at her manager, sending her a sheepish wave.

Emma sighed, any annoyance at the 22 year old for being out of bed late left her when she had heard how heartbroken the girl sounded on the phone to her lover.

"How long?" Emma asked, nodding at the phone.

"Since we were 17." y/n answered her, not bothering to hide it now.

"5 years?" Emma asked in shock and y/n nodded. "No one knew for five years?" She asked again.

"Our families do, yeah, and Millie and Rachel on my side know. But that is it." y/n hummed.

"Why didn't you tell anyone?" Emma had asked confused.

"Because all people do is make up stories, rumours they can't do that to a relationship they don't know exists." y/n explained and Emma nodded.

"So, you lost to her at the world cup." Emma said. "Will you lose tomorrow?" She asked.

"No, not tomorrow. Vamos Chelsea." y/n had grinned at her manager who clapped her on the back.

"Come on kid, get some sleep." Emma hummed and the girl mock saluted and waddled away, leaving Emma shaking her head.

"5 years." She whispered incredulously as she followed the player inside.

Now, in game, with Emma's thumbs up, y/n knew she had done a good job. 2-1 up before half time and potential to extend that lead as they walked toward the tunnel.

Sam jumped onto y/n's back, smiling from her goal as she pinched y/n's cheek, Millie, currently unplaying, telling her to stop annoying the younger girl.

"Surprise mother fucker." y/n suddenly said, spinning wildly as Sam screamed in shock, the defender stopped and Sam jumped off, only to crash to the floor dizzy.

The locker-room erupted in laughter at the star striker who pouted as the defender helped her up and they waited for Emma and their team talk.

Ten minutes into the second half, something was clear. And that was that Athenea was gunning for her secret girlfriend. Any time y/n had the ball, Athenea would be over her, and not always in-line with the rules.

Chelsea currently had a corner, and as per set piece request, y/n waited patiently just outside the box, Athenea noticed her, looking back at Jess Carter and Niamh Charles who were still holding the back line.

Athenea ran forward, jostling her shoulder into y/n's back slightly, but the Chelsea player huffed and pushed her weight back, causing a small shoving fit to happen.

y/n let out a shout of annoyance at the ref, who seemed to finally notice the predicament. However, Athenea hadn't and shoved again, y/n rolled her eyes and keeled forward.

It was dramatic, y/n knew so, it was hard to knock her down, but as soon as she hit the grass the whistle was blown and a bright yellow card shown in her girlfriend's direction.

Athenea let out an annoyed call, but stalked away when the ref glared. The corner was finally taken, it bounced from a defender's head straight to the feet of y/n and she fired.

The ball seemed to ricochet at the back of the net as Athenea let out a curse in Spanish, but y/n ignored it as she raced to Sam and threw herself at her, the Australian catching her as she cheered.

It was y/n's tenth goal for Chelsea in one year and y/n cheered at the small amount of Chelsea fans who had followed them to Spain. She kissed her badge as she walked back, high fiving Jess and Niamh as she sent a thumbs up to Ann in goal.

The next fifteen minutes were filled with rough tackles and fast plays, y/n almost losing a limb at one point she felt. She could see Emma discussing about taking her off and as they lined up to another Chelsea corner, she wanted to make a difference.

Sam had directed her into the box this time, Niamh on the outside if needed. Athenea had followed and the two began jostling, the corner was taken, and before anyone could blink, it had bounced off y/n's head and into the net.

"Holy shit!" y/n yelled chasing after Sam who was screaming as well.

Athenea let out another curse, her team now 4-1 down and as they walked back, her girlfriend grinning made it worse. Play restarted and as minutes ticked by, the 78th minute almost done, Athenea ran at the goal.

y/n let out a sigh and chased after, making the decision and sliding down, her feet kicking the ball as Athenea fell on top of her. The Spanish lady groaned and stood up, shouting in annoyance.

"She got the ball, she got the ball." The ref denies and Athenea turns to shoulder barge y/n, but the English girl beats her too it and essentially shoulder checks her onto the ground.

"There's your foul." y/n hissed and Jess immediately pulled her away as a yellow was show in her direction. She was pulled off after, Emma telling her she was lucky it wasn't a red.

The game ended the way she left it. 4-1. And even though they had won, y/n was not in any way happy. Millie had wrapped her in a hug, knowing the upset that was coursing through her veins.

y/n went around, shaking a few players hands, conversing in their native language which shocked them. Finally she approached Athenea.

"Buen juego" y/n said, holding her hand out.

Athenea looked like she was about to cry but y/n knew her well enough to know it wasn't about the game. She and Athenea were both loyal to a fault to their clubs, their countries, but they had never been like that.

They had known each other so long, understood so much of each other and yet were still learning things everyday and in that moment, the crowd, the game, the world no longer mattered, only their relationship.

"Lo siento, estaba tan enojada, y yo ..." Athenea began, but y/n hushed her.

"It's okay. It's okay. I was an asshole too Thea." y/n promises, the nickname slipping from her lips before she had registered.

Athenea had always wondered what people would say if they were to find out about the two. They had been hidden for so long now, it seemed almost laughable.

"Lo siento." y/n repeated, holding her hand out.

Athenea had another idea however and tugged the taller girl in for a hug, the two hugging rather tightly as all their teams paused in shock.

Sam leaned over to Millie, the blonde not looking surprised like everyone else, she looked over to her manager who just continued talking with the Real Madrid Manager the two clearly aware also.

"That doesn't look like competitors." Sam says to Millie as the two pull away.

"Ya no me importa esconderme más." Athenea whispers to her lover, the girl watching her.

I do not care for hiding no more.

"Promise?" y/n asked and Athenea nodded and y/n grinned, leaning down to place a long kiss on her lover's lips.

It was almost comical, the reaction of shouts from the players and fans, trying to grasp what was going on as the two pulled away, swarmed by blue and white shirts.

"Ay!" Athenea called, her voice sharp as her team shut up.

"Yes, Athenea and I are together, no we didn't feel the need to share it." y/n explains as Sam stutters.

"How long?" Lauren asks confused and scratching her head.

"5 years." Athenea shrugs and once again it chaos descends.

"Surprise?" y/n says to them, before she grabs her girlfriend and runs off down the tunnel.

"Motherfucker!" Sam says before the group chase after.

Es invierno en Azul, pero el sol brilla y los arquitectos, los fans y los aficionados de Francisco Salamone andan correteando entre el Teatro Español, el hotel y los bares. Son las primeras Jornadas Salamone y, claro, se hacen en esta ciudad, donde el arquitecto dejó la más desmesurada de sus obras: una portada de 22 metros de altura para el cementerio. El cuerpo central tiene las letras RIP en gigantes placas de mármol negro y, delante, el brutal ángel de hormigón, su escultura más famosa, obra maestra del art déco y presencia maldita. En Azul la llaman «El Ángel Exterminador» o «El Ángel Vengador». Dicen que, cuando Salamone se la presentó al intendente, en los años treinta, el pobre funcionario murmuró que parecía algo maligno, una obra del Demonio. Eso parece. En cualquier caso, el Ángel no da ninguna idea tranquilizadora sobre la muerte, no es una imagen de alivio ni de pasaje, sino un juez severo, como una deidad egipcia dispuesta a arrancar y pesar un corazón. La escultura es enorme y cambia según la luz el sol: sus alas facetadas, sus ángulos, producen sombras que dan una ilusión de metamorfosis. Aparece tan de repente, además, al doblar la esquina en esta ciudad de casas bajas, muchas lujosas, en plena rica pampa húmeda. Es una aparición inesperada que no tiene nada que ver con el barrio, que no se anuncia, que parece depositada ahí, abandonada, como un artefacto de otro mundo.

LSDLN cast x Viaje de egresados pt.1

Nota: El viaje de egresados será en Córdoba ya que me parece un lugar demasiado lindo y tengo muy buenas anécdotas allí.

— Hace la maleta mínimo tres semanas antes del viaje, quiere asegurarse de no olvidar nada

— Seguramente hará una lista de las cosas que lleva para estar seguro de no perder las cosas

— En el colectivo se sienta contra la ventana para aprovechar la luz del sol ya que se llevó un libro para pasar el tiempo y no aburrirse tanto

— Es lejos el más ordenado, por las mañanas cuando tienen planeado realizar excursiones con los coordinadores se asegura de tender su cama y doblar su ropa

— En las jodas sería como el adulto responsable que se asegura que nadie tome de más o termine tirado en algunos de los baños vomitando hasta el desayuno

— Especialmente anda detrás de Matías ya que lo conoce y sabe de lo que podría ser capaz

— Disfruta mucho ir al rio, piensa que la vista de las sierras es totalmente mágica

— Hace la valija la misma noche en la que se van al viaje

— Se olvida la mitad de las cosas y en el hotel pierde alguna que otra cosita

— En el colectivo se pone los auriculares y se hace una siesta hasta que llegan a Córdoba

— Está totalmente prohibido el alcohol dentro del hotel pero el se las ideó para pedir un delivery y literalmente casi caerse de una ventana con tal de tener algo de tomar

— Es muy desordenado, sus compañeros de cuarto (Enzo y Agustín) se quejan ya que sus cosas están tiradas por todos lados

— En las jodas se re desconoce, se toma hasta el agua de los floreros y al día siguiente amanece con una terrible resaca que le parte la cabeza

— En el río buscaría bichos o animales con Pipe

Agustín Pardella:

— Armaría su maleta dos días antes del viaje, lo justo y necesario

— En el colectivo conversa con Enzo, su compañero de asiento y también intercambia alguna que otra palabra con Kuku

— Un día, cansado del desorden de Matías decidió tirarle una zapatilla y sin querer le dio en toda la cara

— En las jodas es bastante tranquilo, no toma demasiado y su estado de ebriedad es bastante bajo

— Aprovecharía a full el río para nadar y tirarse de las rocas más altas ya que no le da ni un poquito de miedo

Esteban Kukuriczka:

— Prepara la maleta una semana antes y todo son pantalones cortos con remeras simples

— En el colectivo se sienta junto a Fran y conversa con Agustín ya que tienen asientos continuos

— Agradece que su compañero de cuarto sea Fran ya que allí reina la paz absoluta

— En alguna que otra ocasión aparece algunos de los chicos en su habitación preguntando si pueden dormir allí ya que las otras habitaciones son un caos total

— También es el tipo de persona que se mantiene tranquilo en las jodas, alguna que otra vez tuvo que llevar a Matías a la rastra hasta el hotel

— En el río hay días en que decide meterse al agua y otros donde se sienta en una piedra para poder tomar sol

A/N: listen…even spunky, smart aleck girlfriends get down sometimes! so this little snippet is literally just angst (sorry!). but our favorite slutty couple will be back at it (literally) in all their depraved glory soon enough in part 2. takes place 6 months after Part 1. i wasn’t originally planning on showing anything from our best girl’s pov, but lord she needed to get this one out 😭 thanks to sol for all the encouragement and help on this one! would it be enough if i could never give you peace?

After you and Bradley finished watching another episode of some HBO show you were both obsessed with, the two of you dragged yourselves off the couch to clean up the kitchen before you headed off to bed. Naturally, you had argued in favor of cleaning the kitchen before decompressing with two episodes worth of this year’s favorite Sunday night drama, but Bradley had other plans and you’d made it about thirty seconds into the initial cleanup before he had streaked some excess flour across your cheek, teasing you by licking it off.

“There’s no way raw flour tastes that good,” you’d let out between your giggles, but he was relentless.

“Must just be you then…”

You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him down towards you for a kiss while he backed you up against the kitchen island. He bunched up your pencil skirt that you hadn’t yet changed out of after work and slid his knee between your legs.

“Okay, fine, fine,” you said breathlessly, “we can clean up later…”

Once you’d finally made it into the living room, you had to restart the episode three times before he managed to keep his hands to himself for longer than thirty seconds. Not that you’d really tried that hard to stop him.

But now, you were both a little tired and a little messy as you’d cleaned up the dishes from the homemade pasta you two had made. You’d gotten the recipe from your favorite food influencer - this unbelievably cool girl around your age who was based out of LA - and had been on Bradley to try it for weeks. While you had originally planned to make dinner at your apartment - a far too impersonal two bedroom high rise in the Gaslamp Quarter near Petco Park - you didn’t have a pasta maker attachment for your Kitchen Aid mixer - yet for some reason Bradley did. He had looked so pleased as he’d unearthed it from one of the upper kitchen cabinets, still in the box, a wedding gift he’d forgotten to give someone ages ago.

Ever the team, you had made the sauce while Bradley had made the pasta, humming along to music as you both worked in tandem. He had given a rousing performance of Hall & Oates’ Rich Girl, dancing around the kitchen with you as he professed the song always reminded him of you whenever he heard it - in a good way, I promise! - he had been sure to clarify. You chose to take it as a compliment.

The food had been delicious, along with the wine you had picked up after work. The only downside was that homemade pasta unfortunately made for a lot of dishes and cleanup. While Bradley was putting the last of the assorted mixing bowls and plates in the dishwasher, you grabbed the carton of eggs and the wine off the island to put back in the refrigerator when something caught your eye as you closed the door.

…invited…October 15th…

“What’s this?”

You slipped the thick card stock invitation off Bradley’s fridge, a teasing smile on your face. It was wedged behind a picture of Bradley and his parents, an old save-the-date from a wedding last spring, and a picture of Bradley and Pete, as you knew him, from last fall. You caught a glimpse at the words Pacific Fleet…awards gala…Hotel del Coronado…October 15th -

“- Bradley, this is next weekend?”

“Is it?” He leaned over your shoulder to read the invitation.

“Yeah, next Saturday.” You kept reading, a smile lighting up your face as you noticed his name on the invitation. “No way! It says you’re getting an award, too? Bradley, that’s amazing! Why didn’t you tell me?”

Bradley shrugged and avoided eye contact. “It didn’t seem - important, I guess?”

He was getting an award. Bradley, your boyfriend, was getting an award along with two others in the entire Pacific Fleet. And he hadn’t even told you. Why?

“It sounds pretty important…” Sadness quickly crossed over your face as realization dawned. “Wait, you - do you not want me to come? Is that why you didn’t mention it?” you whispered, the words slipping out before you could think better of it.

“No, no, I - I just - I just didn’t know if it was something you’d want to do? Like it’s a Navy thing and I didn’t think you’d want to go -”

“- Oh.” You glanced down and shrunk in on yourself. Oh. You were right - he didn’t want you there. Probably didn’t want you there to embarrass him. Worried about what you might say - and to who.

You suddenly remember how awkward you had felt the first time Bradley had come home from a longer deployment. He had been on the detail for the Speaker of the House’s visit to Taiwan, on stand-by should naval air support be needed. It was for ten days, nothing major. But you had been on edge the entire time, not helped by the fact that the visit was so public and renowned that it was all over the news. You’d set up push notifications for practically every newspaper - one from the Economist had practically given you an anxiety attack - and had taken to working longer hours when he was gone, pushing yourself to the limit to think about something, anything other than the fact that you hadn’t told your boyfriend of five months that you were in love with him yet.

And what if you never got the chance?

But then the call came in - he was coming home. You’d quickly called Natasha, who hadn’t been chosen for the mission due to a prior commitment, and asked if you were supposed to meet Bradley down at the base after. You’d never gone before, didn’t even know which gate to go through. But Natasha just laughed you off, telling you how to get there, where to park, and the best spot to stand to ensure Bradley would see you right away.

And so maybe it had been the nerves or reading obsessively about the Speaker’s visit, but you had gotten chatty as you were waiting with all the other families and loved ones. You didn’t know how it happened really, one minute you were telling the man next to you that you were waiting for your boyfriend and the next you were ranting about the EEZ, advanced microchip exports, the futility of the US government’s One China policy, and the big dick exercise that were Chinese military drills in the Taiwan Strait.

The man had been a retired Rear Admiral who was waiting for his son. His son, who flew with Bradley as you found out when the two of them came up to you both. Amidst all your hugging and kissing and welcome home speech, the retired Rear Admiral had patted Bradley on the back and said that one’s got quite the mouth on her. Neither of you knew quite what to say. With the mood effectively killed, you didn’t even say I love you to Bradley as you originally had planned.

Instead, you’d merely blurted it out as he was making you coffee the next morning. He’d just smiled and said I love you, too - like it was so obvious that you were ever in any doubt and that he even needed to say it. Soon, the mean old Rear Admiral’s comments were long forgotten as you showed Bradley (again) all the different ways you had missed him while he had been away - protecting the free world and all that jazz.

Until now.

You swallowed, hoping your voice didn’t sound too thick. “I mean, my boyfriend’s getting an award, seems like kind of a big deal - but it’s cool. I can - I can always see what the girls are up to that night, maybe see that new -”

That was a lie. You knew you’d just hang out at your apartment all night - alone.

“- Sweetheart - ”

You shook your head and stepped out of his arms, leaving the invitation on the kitchen island. “It’s okay, really. I think I’m - I’m just gonna shower and get ready for bed. I have that early meeting tomorrow morning, so…”

It wasn’t even ten yet, but Bradley didn’t push it. “Oh. Yeah, I’ll just finish cleaning up then?”

You pulled him down for a kiss, which was far too brief for either of your liking and dashed out of the kitchen and to his bedroom before he could notice the tears forming in your eyes. You shut the door behind you, squeezing your eyes shut as a few wayward tears trickled down your face. God, you were not a girl who cried easily.

(Lies, you just didn’t let anyone see you.)

As you absentmindedly grabbed a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for bed, you whipped out your phone, searching the event and pouring over the official website, looking at pictures from years past, and marveling at how fancy everything looked. You closed the bathroom door behind you and sat on the toilet lid while you waited for the shower to heat up. Scrolling further down the page, while you noticed that the aggressively patriotic decor was a bit much for you, contrary to popular belief, you did understand how important Bradley’s job was. And you understood what it meant for him and his career to be presented with an award at something like this. It wasn’t quite a Medal of Honor or anything like that, but it was still important. It would still mean something.

Something to Bradley. Which meant something to you.

You hopped into the shower, a little dazed, realizing that you were now crying in earnest. You started shampooing and conditioning your hair on autopilot, going over what happened in the kitchen. Were you making too big of a deal out of this? No - it was completely valid for you to be upset. Especially with how different things had been between you both lately.

The bottle of face wash you were using almost slipped out of your hands as you realized something. Natasha had asked you last week - early last week - if you had anyone you could set her up with for an event? You hadn’t thought much of the event, itself, just that Natasha - one of the coolest girls you had ever met - had wanted you to set her up with someone, someone from outside the Navy. That she had trusted you enough to do this.

This was the same event.

The same event that Bradley had to have known about for over a week now, that plus-ones were clearly invited to, that Natasha had assumed you’d be invited to attend. You leaned your forehead against the shower wall.

Why didn’t Bradley want you to come with him? Was he going with someone else? Someone who - no.

No, no, no. He would never do that. You couldn’t believe the thought had even crossed your mind. Bradley loved you. Bradley wanted to be with you. Bradley put up with all your neurosis and your late hours at the office and made you cum so hard you occasionally cried and held you in his arms all night.

Bradley loved you.

(Didn’t he? He’d said he did.)

Maybe you just wanted Bradley to love you like you loved him - openly and without restraint or abandon. You wanted him to love the you that he had first met. The strong, confident girl at the bar, who wasn’t afraid to call him out on his shit. Not the one who was so scared her boyfriend was going to break up with her that she had taken to savoring every last kiss, touch, and I love you between the two of you because you just knew it was going to end. He was going to end things.

You knew you weren’t like all the other girlfriends and wives and partners. You wanted to be someone he didn’t have to second guess about bringing to Navy events or even after work drinks at the Hard Deck. Baring Natasha, you had only met Bradley’s friends twice - via a dinner party at his place and then out for drinks once in San Diego proper. You had originally thought that that was an accident, but now you weren’t so sure.

You didn’t want Bradley to have to choose between you and the Navy. You would never ask him to do that and what was worse, he would never make you feel like you had to or that he resented you for it.

Bradley loved you.

(Didn’t he? He had told you a couple weeks ago.)

So, why hadn’t he asked you to go to this awards gala with him? Why didn’t he want you?

You put your face directly underneath the shower head, hoping the water would make your face less puffy. You had always been an ugly crier - always one to let your emotions drive your actions. You thought that was one of the things Bradley liked about you - your strong convictions - but maybe he had changed? Maybe he didn’t want that anymore? Maybe he wanted someone he wasn’t embarrassed about? Was he always wondering if you’d say a snarky comment to the wrong person? He probably got teased about it at work.

That one’s got quite the mouth on her.

You heard the sound of the bathroom door opening and Bradley’s footfalls on the tile a few seconds later. For the first time since you had started dating, you desperately hoped he wouldn’t join you in the shower. He’d take one look at you, your puffy, red rimmed eyes, and turn the other way. But luckily, he simply called out:

“You okay in there?”

You squeezed your eyes shut and hoped your voice wasn’t too choked. “Yeah, fine. My uhh - my shoulder just hurts. Wanted to keep it under the hot water for a bit.” Your shoulder had never bothered you in your life.

You practically held your breath as you waited for Bradley to respond from behind the shower curtain. “Okay. Well, I’m just gonna brush my teeth…”

“Okay, I’ll be out in a few.”

You didn’t move the entire time he was brushing his teeth and even for the few moments after he’d left the bathroom. Fuck. You had to get it together. This was getting pathetic. With one last wipe of your eyes, you turned off the water and dried yourself off a bit before stepping out of the shower.

Bradley had moved your clothes from the vanity to the hooks right by the shower so you didn’t have to tiptoe across the room, tracking water along the way. The silly and inconsequential, but still stupidly thoughtful, action made your heart clench. Then, you went through your nightly routine almost on autopilot, putting on your pajamas, brushing your teeth and hair, doing your skincare routine, all while trying not to cry again.

Eventually, when you saw that Bradley had turned off the lights in the bedroom, you left your bathroom sanctuary and made your way across the other room, crawling into bed beside him. You burrowed your face in his chest, clinging onto him desperately as if you could will him to love you more.

Neither of you said anything, you just laid there, holding each other, his hand slowly rubbing your back, until you eventually drifted off into an uneasy sleep, the steady beat of his heart reminding you that he was still there with you.

At least for now.
